Causes Of The Coercive Acts
The Coercive Acts was formed by the British Parliament to punish the Americans in Boston,
Massachusetts, for the destroying the tea of the East India Company. The British needed money so
they taxed the Americans to help them get money for the French and Indian War. This outraged the
colonist because they didn t like being taxed without being represented. The colonist wore Native
Americans attire and dumped the bags of tea into the Boston Harbor. The British viewed the
retaliation of the Americans as disrespectful. The British Parliament passed several laws that angered
Americans, and they believed those rights are unbearable to follow. The Coercive Acts leads to the
American Revolution, and the Americans believe that British Parliament disregarded their rights as
people with natural rights. The first act that was passed by the Parliament was the Boston Port Act. It
was passed in March of 1774, it stopped all shipping into or out of the port of Boston until payment
was received for the tea ruined in the Boston Tea Party and the tax that was due on it ( Intolerable Acts
). The act was to punish those who were involved in the Boston Tea Party. The ports were so heavily
guarded that people could not give feed their horses hay from Charlestown, Massachusetts. The city of
Boston began to suffer economically, because they could not make money from exporting goods. The
king sent an army to make sure the rule was enforced. This showed many Americans that the king is
very serious,

Summary Of Mccullers s Reflections In A Golden Eye
McCullers s feelings about love and relationships were unconventional as evident by her marriage,
and she felt confused and alone in her sexuality, which society had not yet recognized as valid. She
therefore wrote openly about homosexual characters to show the struggle they face in order to make
her audience more open minded. In Reflections in a Golden Eye, Captain Penderton is a homosexual
man grappling with his feelings of attraction towards a young soldier. Upon seeing Private Williams,
Penderton is overcome by a hatred, passionate as love (McCullers 73). Penderton feels an inescapable
pull towards Williams, and, not knowing how to handle his feelings of attraction toward a man, bottles
up his emotions and instead converts them to anger. Penderton feels trapped and confused by his
passion and frustration at his inability to fit into the mold of the perfect husband and soldier. He is
isolated by the other men on the base because he does not have the qualities the ideal man should have
and is often looked down upon. In The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, Singer has strong feelings of love
toward his roommate, Antonapoulos. His affection and yearning for his sick companion disarm the
reader s homophobia by showing that love between two men is just as valid as the love between a
woman and a man, just less socially accepted (Bigelow). There is evidence that McCullers also did not
conform to heterosexual expectations, something that was shamed by society during her lifetime.

Communication At Prab Raritan Gardens Essay
Part C: Communication is a large part at my particular site, there is open communication between all
staff members and I frequently view the clarity and openness staff members share with one another. If
there is an issue within the classroom, teachers will either address it among themselves or bring it up
to the director. Their issues are always resolved and solutions are found. The teacher who I am
interning with in particular (I will further address her as Teacher N), has no issues voicing her opinion.
If she does not agree with something she brings it up in an appropriate manner and it is address.
Within my time at PRAB Raritan Gardens, I have not witness any conflicts between staff members. As
stated above, from what I ve witnessed everyone is very vocal about their opinions, while at the same
time everyone is also very willing to help each other. An example of which is if a classroom has a
particularly difficult child, teachers do not view this as that specific teacher s child to handle. If
someone is able to offer help, either by bringing the child within their classroom to settle him or her
down or even offering to help a child if they have a better ability to do so, they will. An example of
which was a time Teacher N had helped the teacher adjacent to her classroom with a child who was
bilingual, although the child did speak English he was better at speaking his native tongue, Hindi. The
teachers in that classroom both do not speak Hindi, but Teacher N did because

What Was Paul s Response Of The 1st Century Circumcision...

1. Paul and Gnosticism.
What was Paul s response to the 1st century circumcision controversy? What were the characteristic
features (beliefs practices) of Gnostic Christianity? And in your judgment, can either viewpoint (or
both) be considered orthodox over against the other?
Throughout the early history of Christianity, disputes broke out over mosaic law, particularly in the
mid first century when the issue of circumcision, cutting off the foreskin of a man s penis, was a
heavily debated and a recurring issue among different churches and members of the church. Many
Christians believed that following the mosaic law, which included the act of circumcision, was no
longer required for salvation as having faith and accepting Jesus as the messiah would be enough.
Others, on the other hand, believed that requirements set forth in the mosaic law were still necessary
to be saved. These people were negatively branded with the name Judaizers (those who believed that
all Christians should follow the Law of Moses), and were often criticized for being discriminatory and
elitist. A meeting was then held to discuss the whether the application of the mosaic law to new
members of the Christian community, particularly focusing on if those trying to convert, were obliged
undergo circumcision to be accepted into, and become part of, the Christian community. The apostolic
decree of the council of Jerusalem moved away from its

Jon Stewart and News Distortion
Network News stations like Fox and MSNBC have distorted news information so much so that
viewers now turn to comedy central to keep current with the news. Turning to comedians for news is
not a horrible idea as long as viewers understand that comedians must also distort news in order to
entertain. Now that is not to say that comedians give out fake news; a comedian must first understand
the whole of the topic before running it through a comedic process, in which they then begin distorting
the information to attain laughter. Jon Stewart has an enormous impact in the media. Many young
viewers turn to Stewart for his take on the news. According to Cox of Wonkette.com in an article by
Kurtz Howard, The Campaign of a Comedian; Jon Stewart s Fake Journalism Enjoys Real Political
Impact, says It s not that young people don t like politics. The way politics is talked about in the media
is alienating. They re seeing Jon Stewart as a kind of hero who will lead us out of the darkness.
Stewart allows his viewers to keep current with the news by giving sound bites, which they then could
verify or explore. While many news reporters believe Stewart to be highly controversial, the majority
of young adults will watch Jon Stewart s comedic take on the news because it is unbiased and attempts
to only entertain. In an article by Rachel Smolkin, What the Mainstream Can Learn from Jon Stewart,

Notre Dame Admission Essay Sample
Two years ago, when I was faced with the difficult task of choosing a college, I turned to my family
for advice. My three oldest siblings, despite their natural bias as Notre Dame alumni, helped me weigh
my options thoughtfully and considerately. Talking to them individually about their alma mater,
however, I quickly noticed a common thread between their musings which ultimately convinced me to
follow in their footsteps: each passionately emphasized the unique opportunities available to them at
Notre Dame, opportunities which elevated the school s role beyond that of mere instructional
facilitation Notre Dame is dedicated to the comprehensive formation of its students. Now, as student

These interests have driven me to declare an Education, Schooling, and Society minor, to volunteer as

indispensably helpful. If I were accepted into the program, I would try for an internship at the
Department of Education, where I could gain real world experience in education policy and work
among some of the most talented people in the field. Considering Donald Trump s ambitious goals for
the expansion of school choice programs throughout the country, I would have the chance to witness
one of the most exciting and challenging times in American education from the epicenter of policy
making itself. Although I have extensively researched available internship opportunities within the
Department, I do not have my eye on any single position. Fortunately, as an intern at the Department

Ultimately, the Washington Program would enable me to hone my interests even further and develop a

Informative Essay On Driving Lessons
Milton Keynes residents have many reasons to take driving lessons. This area of Buckinghamshire is a
popular choice for businesses who want close proximity to London, located 45 miles away. As a
result, there are lots of corporations and jobs in Milton Keynes. The opportunities for work are one
reason why people embark on driving lessons in Milton Keynes. The number of attractions in Milton
Keynes also makes learning to drive worthwhile. For instance, Gulliver s Land, a fun theme park for
children, and Stowe Landscape Gardens are easily accessible by car. Woburn Abbey and the nearby
Woburn Safari Park also draw many visitors. There, you can see tigers, giraffes, elephants and many

What you learn at the very beginning will stick with you forever. When you take driving lessons in
Milton Keynes, take them from a reputable driving school and learn how to drive like a professional.
As you gain experience in driving, most of what you do becomes habitual you don t even think about
it. If you learn to drive correctly, you will acquire safe and correct driving habits. You will be aware of
what s going on all around you, not just in front of you. You will check your rear view mirrors, be
cautious when approaching blind spots and know how to negotiate the road in every condition.
Driving lessons in Milton Keynes have some unique characteristics. Roundabouts are ubiquitous in
this area and can be tricky even for experienced drivers who are not used to them. If you have a good
driving teacher, he will be able to teach you how to handle Blanchland Circle with confidence and
ease which can be a tricky spot. There are quiet areas in the Milton Keynes grid system with no parked
cars that are perfect for beginning drivers. You should not be asked to try to tackle the main traffic
areas until you are ready for

Racism In Dear White People
People used to think when Barack Obama got elected as the 44th president of United States in 2008
that they lived in a post racial society. However, naive to think the United States could become a post
racial society and that discrimination was over. But ever since Obama became president there has been
mass shootings against people of color or to the LGBT community by a police officer or by a citizen.
For example, the Orlando nightclub shooting on June 12, 2016, dozens of LGBT people massacred by
one citizen what apparently was the act of terrorism. Consequently, it made the idea of a post racial
society in the United States controversial on the fact that racism will be over after Obama became
president. In his article, Daniel Solórzano an Associated Professor in the Graduate School of
Education at UCLA and his colleagues is about the stress that associated with occupying minority
racial/ethnic status on predominantly white campuses. In his first feature film, Dear White People,
Justin Simien, an American filmmaker, actor, and author, accurately demonstrates the issue on racial
microaggressions and campus racial climate affecting the educational experiences of students of color.
Therefore, Dear White People portraits as a racial microaggression and stereotype threat film against
students of color on campus. However, besides students facing stereotype threats and

fact of the matter is that the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a organization that is

that many athletes believe doesn t pay enough for everything that is needed on campus so this leads

Of course, after the proposal came out college athletics directors and conference commissioners began
protesting the new stipend by claiming of all things they could not afford it . Within a month, 125 of
them had signed an override request. So the NCAA decided to cave on the idea. Some of the students
who had already signed that deal got to keep the $2000 stipend yet others who take money for a
different type of deal, say with an overzealous booster for selling some of their team paraphernalia, as
a few Ohio State players did violated the NCAA s rules regarding amateurism and were hit with multi
game suspensions in addition to getting the coach Jim Trassell (see insert) fired. That is the second
problem of the system that needs to be addressed.
It all starts with money and the players see it and know it. They see that the NCAA s college football
and men s basketball are huge commercial enterprises that generate more than 6 billion in annual
revenue. That is more revenue than the National Basketball Association (NBA). People can see the
television deals like the one signed with Turner Broadcasting and CBS sports to the tune of 14 years
and 10.8 billion dollars for the rights to the men s basketball championship aka March Madness. They

Relationship Between Mesopotamian And Greek Gods
Throughout their histories, religion has played a central role in Mesopotamian and Greek culture. Both
peoples built mighty temples and made countless sacrifices in the name of their gods, but the exact
nature of their relationships with their gods remains a mystery. Historians are left to guess at their
customs and traditions from the works they left behind such as Homer s epic poem The Illiad and the
anonymous epic poem the Epic of Gilgamesh. From these texts, it becomes apparent that the
Mesopotamians relationship with their gods was one founded on a sense of respect while the Greeks
was one rooted in fear. Correspondingly, the Mesopotamian gods are more restrained and nurturing in
their interactions with humans while the Greek gods are brash and patronizing, though neither set of
gods is greatly concerned with the wellbeing of mortals. In both cultures, humans and gods share an
undeniable connection in their range and expression of emotion. As such, though Mesopotamians and
Greeks take different approaches to interaction with their gods and vice versa, the relationship
between humans and gods is fundamentally the same in both cultures.
From the human perspective, the Mesopotamians and Greeks share a strong sense of reverence for
their gods. They make regular sacrifices and hold their gods in the highest esteem, but these
sentiments come from different places. The Greeks act primarily out of fear while the Mesopotamians
act more out of a notion of respect. In

Codon Diagrams For Dna
Proteins are built inside of cells using DNA. DNA is located in the nucleus of ever eukaryotic cell and
is stored in chromosomes. DNA starts out all messy like a bowl of spaghetti, but then begin to tighten
up and form chromosomes.
Transcription
Transcription is the process of making the first working copy of the DNA, known as the mRNA. This
is actually a very smart Idea. Would you want to give out your only copy of a super rare comic, or
give someone a copy of it? The choice is obvious. Polymerase are used to make mRNA. In order to
make the protein, it will have to be sent outside of the nucleus to the ribosomes. The ribosomes are the
construction site for building the protein. In sticking with Chargaff s Rule, we have to switch uracil for

This time we will actually be making proteins. mRNA is turned into amino acids for making proteins.
The tRNA helps transfer these protein making amino acids from the cytoplasm to the ribosomes, or
construction sites. The anticodon, only found on tRNA not mRNA, matches and connects to the 3 end
of the amino acid. There the large and small ribosomal sub units start to prepare and make proteins.
The A site is where the molecule is added. P site is where the protein is added. E site is where the used
molecule exits. Then the ribose reads the mRNA one codon at a time until it reaches the end. This
information is stored so that it has the information on how to make that specific protein

Summary Of The Unicorn By Dr. Wright
Jayna burst into the clearing on the back of the unicorn. Chaos recognized her immediately.
You!
Jayna demanded, Let them go evil thing!
She was a little disappointed her voice was back to normal, her goddess voice was much more
intimidating. Her heart thumped so hard with fear that she thought it would bruise her ribs.
You re the easiest of all, said the black thing in a voice she recognized. It was Dr. Wright s.
Already Wright s body was being deformed by the being that cohabited it, but when Jayna pulled out
her glowing sword, there was enough of him left that she recognized him. She shuddered when she
realized this would have been her fate if that thing was still inside of her. The thing extended its hand
in her direction and black tendrils rose up out of the ground and wrapped around the unicorn s legs.
Then Jayna s world faded away and she woke up in another.
Elmer was lost in the dark, he couldn t keep up with Jayna and now Chaos had obscured his vision. He

Octavian and Marc Antony- The Duel of Words and Deeds
Octavian and Marc Antony The Duel of Words and Deeds Following the Julius Caesar s death at the
hands of the Senate, Octavian and Marc Antony propelled themselves to the pinnacle of Roman
power. First joining together during the Second Triumvirate, these men represented the true power
players of Roman politics. As their alliance fractured, both Romans resorted to propaganda to gain an
edge over the other. Through insulting the other and polishing their own image, both Antony and
Octavian looked to capture absolute Roman dominance. Even before their eventual war in 32 B.C.E.,
the men engaged in a duel of words in deeds. This paper will first overview the formation and
disintegration of Second Triumvirate between Marc Antony, Marcus Lepidus, and Octavian. Its main
portion will divulge the devious propaganda, leading up to the war in 32 B.C.E., used by Marc Antony
and Octavian to destroy the other politically. Plutarch s Antony and Suetonius The Lives of the
Caesars The Deified Augustus(De Vita Caesarum Divus Augustus) will serve as our main guide to this
war of image. After the assassination of Julius Caesar, Marc Antony, Marcus Lepidus, and Octavian
met in October 43 BC to join together, rule the entire government of Rome, and the control the Roman
provinces. In power, they were equal to the consuls and had the right to select magistrates. The

Comparing Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness Essay
Comparing Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness
In the opening scenes of the documentary film Hearts of Darkness A Filmmaker s Apocalypse,
Eleanor Coppola describes her husband Francis s film, Apocalypse Now, as being loosely based on
Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness. Indeed, loosely is the word; the period, setting, and circumstances
of the film are totally different from those of the novella. Yet, a close analysis of character, plot, and
theme in each respective work reveals that Conrad s classic story of savagery and madness is present
in its cinematic reworking.
The story of Heart of Darkness is narrated by its central character, the seasoned mariner Marlowe, a
recurring figure in Conrad s work. Apocalypse Now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of company man turned savage, of a brilliant and successful team player, being groomed by
the Company for greater things, suddenly gone native, is perfectly realized in both novella and film. In
the film, Kurtz is portrayed by Marlon Brando, the father of American method actors, who lends
weight (both physically and dramatically) to the figure of the megalomaniacal Kurtz. Brando s
massive girth is all the more ironic for those familiar with Heart of Darkness who recall Conrad s
description: I could see the cage of his ribs all astir, the bones of his arms waving. It was as though an
animated image of death carved out of old ivory had been shaking its hand with menaces at a
motionless crowd of men... (Conrad, p.135). One could speculate that Coppola s Kurtz is a graphic
analogy of the bloated American war machine dominating and perverting the innocent montegnards of
Cambodia; however, after viewing Eleanor Coppola s documentary, one finds that the casting was
more based on a combination of Coppola s wanting to work with Brando (remember The Godfather )
and Brando s own weight problem. (It should also be noted that the cult like following of Kurtz in
Heart of Darkness is brilliantly and subtly updated by Coppola in a foreshadowing scene in which
missives to Willard from headquarters are intercut with scenes of newspaper clippings about Charles
Manson.)
Also present in Coppola s film is the loveable, addle headed harlequin/fool

Internet Is A Safe Haven For Criminals Essay
Would you believe me if I said that ninety nine percent of the internet is not accessible to the average
web surfer via your standard networks and search engines? The internet is like the ocean, there is more
than meets the eye and houses many deep dark back door servers and markets that never reach the

and dark webs exist and are hidden for a reason. Parts of the deep web were created for good
intentions, and some parts of the deep web give users access to information that can be useful, but the
negative aspects that have come from the deep web outweigh the positive aspects, it is shown that the

single one of those computers has what is called an IP address, the IP address is the unique set of

Constructing The Smart Cities
Title
Constructing the smart cities The design perspective
Introduction
Humanity has officially become an urban species with more than half of the global population living
in urban areas, and this would increase to 70% by 2050 (Gruen, 2013). To response the living
condition, smart city has been touted as a vanguard of strategies for urban development and
regeneration. There exists some cities are over age world, while some of them seem immoderately
technocratic and instrumental, as they have been envisaged only from a technological standpoint in
recent years.
Indeed a smart city is an open city and based on data, so that public bodies need to discover a

Designers should consider how might people find it easier to get to their destinations and how might
people find new ways to save energy.
It is obvious that the smart city is not only about technology it is also based on human and social
capitals, wise management of natural resources, participatory governance.
Designing a smart city requires visionary leaderships to guide the build out of the smart city platform
architecture.
Those aspects of transformation are out of scope for this article but it is very important to be mindful
of them. But we can envision the components of the smart city architecture. The following smart city
architecture representation can serve as a starting point for defining the platform services and
components needed to deliver the digital transformation for citizens. This reference can inform the
human collaboration toward the smart city vision.
This needs people from different fields to complete the smart city design.
A city can be defined as smart when investments in human and social capital and traditional and
modern communication infrastructure fuel sustainable economic development and a high quality of
life, with a wise management of natural resources, through participatory governance.
Smart Cities are employing information and communication technologies in the quest for sustainable
economic development and the fostering of new forms of collective life.

Type A Personality
Today in class we discussed Type A Personality. People with Type A personality generally are
obsessed with being on time, competitive, impatient, and may be easily angered and hostile. These
traits may become dangerous as they can lead to heart problems because of the anger these people
possess. I believe that my personality corresponds to Type A. Although I normally am late for most
things, I get very paranoid when I am running late for something I am passionate about. For example,
I am never late for the movies. I always check the timings a few hours earlier and try to be at the
movie theater around 45 minutes earlier. Another piece of evidence that points to me being Type A is
that I am excessively competitive and cutthroat. I must do anything and everything to be the best. I
believe that there is no point in doing anything unless you want to be number one. My philosophy
(which I borrowed from Grey s Anatomy 2x22) is that being that second best is mediocre, and to settle
for mediocrity is a sign of self disrespect and a substandard work ethic. I refuse to be second best. ...

When we finally caught enough for the task at hand, we would fight over who would be the one to
wear the puppet. Then the bugs would be carefully transferred from the jar to the puppet s mouth and
skillfully squished all at once. We would all laugh in delight to see the glow of Kermit s mouth as he
danced up and down on the chosen one s hand. This game would occur every night in the field until
there weren t any more bugs left to catch and we moved on by playing other games, which usually
took place in the field as well.
The field was a prime spot to lie on a soft blanket and gaze at all of the stars shining like candles
flickering in the clear night sky. This is also the area from which we still watch the annual Fourth of
July fireworks and where all of the guys miraculously survive the fireworks display of their own. They
take hours setting up the fireworks on the homemade stands that are charred from the previous years.
After the tables are filled with the food that friends and family bring. It doesn t take long for it all to
disappear, except for my aunt s green bean casserole that she brings each year. Then it gets dark and

Essay about An Exposition on Peanut Butter Cookies
An Exposition on Peanut Butter Cookies
Have you ever tried to bake peanut butter cookies, and for some reason they were a complete flap
because they were dry and crunchy, too moist and crumbly, or perhaps they had a terrible taste? Well, I
have discovered this cool new recipe and I have never failed at making them. Have no fear, the
ultimate peanut butter cookie recipe is here.
We will need the following ingredients: 1c. of brown sugar, 1c. of white sugar, 1c. of margarine or
butter, 1c. of peanut butter, 2 large eggs, 1 tsp. of baking soda, 1/4 tsp. of salt, 2 tsp. of vanilla, 3 cups
of flour, and 1/2 cup of white sugar.
As far as cooking utensils go, we will need the following: 2 large bowls, a small cup, a microwavable
bowl, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before you begin, always wash your hands. First we begin by blending with the wooden spoon, in one
of the large bowls the brown sugar and the one cup white sugar. Soften the margarine or butter in the
microwavable bowl in the microwave for fifteen seconds. After you add the margarine to the sugar,
mix them together. Add the peanut butter to the batter then mix again. In the small cup crack each egg
separately, and add the yolk part to the batter and stir. Set the mixture aside for the time being. In the
other large bowl measure out and sift the flour, baking soda, and salt. Once sifted together, carefully
add to the sugar and butter mixture. Blend together carefully. It may take a little elbow grease. Once
completely blended, add the vanilla and stir till it is mixed on. The hard part is now over. Make sure
that there are no lumps of sugar, pieces of eggshell, and clumps of baking soda. Nobody wants to bite
into those! From the batter, scoop out a teaspoon size amount out and roll in your hands until it looks
like a sphere. Roll it again, but this time, roll it around in 1/2 cup of white sugar until completely
coated. Once achieved, place on the baking sheet. Continue this process of shaping the cookie until
twelve and been formed and are two inches apart from each other on the cookie sheet. Take the fork
and gently press two fork prints on each cookie, one

How Is Teddy Alike
Will Langas
There s Something About Teddy On June 5th, 1944, 156,000 soldiers took part in the largest
amphibious invasion in history. One of these soldiers, known as Jerry Salinger to his friends, stormed
the beach alongside his fellow Americans, carrying in his backpack the first six chapters to the story
that would later be known as The Catcher in the Rye. Selling around 250,000 copies each year, Jerome
David Salinger s novel pushed him into the spotlight, and two years later he published the short story
Teddy, under the name J.D. Salinger, in his collection of brief tales, Nine Stories. According to
Americans, the main character Teddy would be seen as a troubled figure, however, Hindus would
consider him to be spiritually mature. Teddy would be regarded as spiritually enlightened because he
is not affected by his emotions, he is aware of the ultimate reality, and he is not afraid of death. First,
Teddy is negatively portrayed as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, in the Hindu world view, Teddy is viewed more spiritually mature because of this trait. In
fact, Teddy is actually considered different, in a beneficial way to not only himself, but others alike.
Teddy s ability to block out his emotions is shown early into his discussion with Bob Nicholson, when
after being asked about his emotions, he responds saying, I don t remember when I ever used them...I
don t see what they re good for (Salinger 77). Teddy s view of emotions displays his spiritual progress
in the terms of the purusharthas. While most people are concerned with the purusharthas of wealth and
pleasure, Artha and Kama, Teddy has developed past these emotionally concerned goals, and in the
process has become concerned with what all humans should strive to achieve, the purushartha of
Moksha, or liberation.

The Battle Of The Woods Lived A Village Of Warriors
Deep in the woods lived a village of warriors that had long fought to keep their lands clear of the wolf
menace, but to no avail. It seemed to the villagers that there was a stalemate between them, or perhaps
the wolves had grown accustomed to the taste of their blood and were finally bored with them. The
killings became sporadic and less frequent, to the point where eventually the warrior culture began to
deteriorate. The magic that was instilled in every villager was fading, their innocent blue eyes
remained. Without killing, their eyes were never stained with death and a pair of brown eyes was a
rare sight here. Wolves were now just fairy tales told to children to keep them from straying too far
into the woods. Such was the case with the Faraway girl, whom people simply called Red. She donned
a blood red cape wherever she went because it was a family heirloom handed down to her by her
mother. Every Faraway woman for ten generations had worn the cape and kept it in the most
immaculate condition. When they would wear it the people of the village always called them Red
instead of their given name, it was tradition. Some of the older villagers knew a story of a great
warrior who wore a cape like it. They say it was made of the blood of one thousand wolves, their
deaths woven into the magic fabric. This was the same story that was told to Red when she asked her
grandmother why she had one brown eye and one blue. She told her, One of our ancestors was said to

A Case Study of One Student s Approach to Reading The Divine Image
Hypothesis
When Marielle, an English 2 student, was given a series of critical thinking tasks, her first response to
the poem, The Divine Image, by William Blake changed as she followed the direction of each task and
built on her previous understanding of the poem. I describe her responses to the eight learning paper
tasks and her dissection of the poem for hidden meanings.
The Tasks and Various Interpretations
For each learning paper, Marielle was given eight different ways to interpret
The Divine Image, by William Blake. Learning paper 1 asked her to read the poem out loud, write
down any ideas that came to mind, then write a summary of what the ... Show more content on

For learning paper 2, she had to reread the poem, then detect and define key words that made a strong
impact on her. What Marielle did was define some of the words she felt were strong Mercy, Pity, Love
and Peace. She then reread the poem and was asked to reinterpret it. After she identified key words,
she felt that this poem is trying to reinforce the importance of being kind to others and treating them as
God would. Mercy, Pity Peace and Love are being reinforced as necessary human qualities. She
looked up the literal meanings of the key words, wrote them down, and added comments next to the
definitions. After defining and commenting on these key words, her opinion differed.
I am able now to see the correlation between the title the Divine Image and the song itself. The divine
image is expressed in its human form through the actions and feelings of Mercy, Pity, Peace and Love.
The Divine Image is referring to God, humans can be Godlike by performing these four feelings and
actions.
She now felt that humans were considered Divine only if they use Mercy, Pity, Peace and Love. In the
beginning, though, she felt that one had to treat others with the same respect like God and that the
characteristics were simply important for humans. Even though her opinion changed, she didn t use
the dictionary s literal meanings to write a translation of the poem, rather she constructed her version
of the poem with the words of the

Depression
Attribution Theory and Depression
Mike E. Calderin
Christopher Newport
Attribution Theory and Depression Baron, Branscombe, and Byrne (2009) explain the attribution
theory as not wanting to just know how ourselves and others act, but why we and others act that way.
People assign attributes or reasons to why something happens to better perceive, justify, and
understand why people act the way they do. The Attribution Theory can be applied to many different
areas of peoples lives. In recent years the attribution theory has been applied to different areas
including Depression (Baron, Branscombe, Byrne, 2009). According to the Mayo Clinic Staff
depression is defined as, a medical illness that causes a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The interesting thing about his findings is that this attitude affected further performance on later tests
that were different. Just like self fulfilling prophecy; if you are of the mindset you won t do well then
you probably will not.
Different therapies have come about in an attempt to help depressed individuals change their mindset
and stop engaging in self deprecating thoughts. The Attribution retraining (AR) therapy is one of the
techniques under the umbrella of cognitive behaviors. AR attempts to treat depressed individuals
negative thoughts and behaviors by changing the explanations for problems and symptoms. AR has
become popular and heavily researched in China because it is shorter and easily applied (Wang, et. al.,
2011) Depression is easy to target with attribution theory because it can be individualized to the
patients need and target the negative outcomes specifically. AR therapy targets the negative
attributions by supplying alternative explanations that are more healthy attributions (Wang et. al.,
2011). By offering a healthy alternative explanation the depressed person begins to make sense and
not feel so out of control of their life. This may also lead to a quick way for depressed individuals to
assess what is really happening and why they perceive the situation so negatively. This goes back to
the many different facets of depression. By targeting where the negative perceptions are coming from

Congestion and Traffic Pollution in New York City Essay
Congestion and traffic pollution has been a major problem in New York City for years. There have
been many laws, tolls, and fines implemented over the past few decades to try and fix the problem.
Yet, congestion still exists. Congestion occurs when there is overcrowding on roadways that s causes
traffic jams. There are several reasons for the severity of this issue. Congestion causes a lot of delays
in the city. It is unlikely that people are on time for anything, even if they planned ahead. With traffic
in the city the way it is, you can t blame them. The indirect effect of congestion is traffic pollution.
Traffic pollution is polluting of the environment caused by harmful toxins and gases given released by
cars. The amount of pollution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This pollution increases health risks by introducing people to harmful toxins released by cars,
specifically in the asthmatic population. Hence, one can see the problems associated with traffic
congestion and pollution. There are several ways to counteract the problem of traffic congestion and
pollution. Firstly, the most practical solution to New York City s congestion problem is to decrease the
number of cars on the road. One plausible way would be to promote and offer alternative methods of
transportation such as buses, subways, and taxis. If people used more public transportation there
would be fewer cars on the road, less congestion, and less traffic pollution. Another alternative would
be to increase toll prices. By increasing tolls on bridges and tunnels, people would be much less
inclined to drive to the city and as a result there would be less traffic congestion and pollution.
Gridlock is a major cause of traffic problems in Manhattan. If we were to implement more severe fines
for blocking intersections, people would not try to beat the light, in effect decreasing overall
congestion. A third approach to try and resolve this issue would be to change some one way streets to
two way streets. Doing this would allow easier access to destinations and would eliminate indirect
route taking. As a result, overall pollution would decrease. These are some of the methods that would
be viable in decreasing

Intracranial Aneurysm Research Paper
Ruptured Saccular Intracranial Aneurysm associated with Arteriovenous Malformation
Introduction
An arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is an abnormal collection of blood vessels in which arterial
blood flows directly into the draining vein without the normal interposed capillaries. AVM are tangled
anastomosis of blood vessels of varying calibre in which arteriovenous shunting occurs in a central
nidus in which the area towards in which multiple feeding arteries converge and from which enlarged
vein drains.1 They have a higher rate of bleeding than normal vessels. AVMs can occur anywhere in
the body. Brain AVMs are of special concern because of the damage they cause when they bleed. The

Another hypothesis is that these associations can accidentally exist together.20 Among these
hypothesis, the hemodynamic stress secondary to the increased blood flow of AVM plays a significant
role to provoke this coexistence of lesion.1,21 This hypothesis is supported by a report showing that
the associated aneurysms tend to be concentrated in feeding arteries which supply AVM and the
associated aneurysms may shrink in proportion to the occlusion of the AVM. 3
The incidence of intracranial aneurysms is higher in patients with intracranial AVM than in the general
population. This incidence varies from 2.7 to 23% in the literature.1, 22 Four types of aneurysms

Thomas Mann s Tonio Kroeger and Albert Camus s The Stranger
Introduction
The literary characters of Meursault and Tonio Kroeger are likely depicted as outsiders in the novels
The Stranger by Albert Camus and Tonio Kroeger by Thomas Mann. The novels can both be described
as existentialist investigations. In the school of philosophy, existentialism seeks to investigate the
relationship between individuals and the society, the meaning of life, and the unavoidable conflicts in
interpersonal relationships among other inquisitions (Sleasman, 2014). Existentialism is evident in the
two novels under review as the characters are treated as outsiders.
Albert Camus The Stranger The concept of the outsider is demonstrated by the two lead characters
namely Meursault and Tonio Kroeger. In The Stranger, Meursault is depicted as an outsider both in
himself as well as the society as owing to his criminal tendencies as he battles to show emotions and
link with realities regarding his life (Sleasman, 2014). Meursault is depicted as much disconnected to
the current world and life either emotionally or socially. For instance, the opening scene shows how
Meursault reacts to his mother s death. His lack of remorse and loss is both salient and borders on the
pathological. By falling asleep during his mother s funeral; the action demonstrates the lack of
feelings and social competence which children are usually expected to show to their parents (Camus,
2012). Furthermore, he consents

The reliability of compensatory health beliefs and the effect it has on alcohol consumption
Abstract
Aim
The aim of the study was to investigate whether reading government guidelines on alcohol
consumption would affect an individual s intentions to drink within the guidelines or not. The study is
also focused on investigating the reliability of alcohol specific compensatory health belief scale using
test retest and internal consistency measures.
Introduction
There has been a lot of recent research into compensatory health beliefs, in particular what activates
these beliefs. Compensatory health beliefs are beliefs that a person activates as compensation after
engaging in unhealthy behaviours. An example of this is someone believing that they can have a piece
of cake as they are going to the gym later. They understand that the cake is unhealthy but try and
compensate for that by doing something healthy to counteract it. This study focuses on compensatory
health beliefs surrounding binge drinking in the UK. Binge drinking has become a serious problem in
the UK, in 2012 13, there were an estimated 1,008,850 admissions related to alcohol consumption
where an alcohol related disease, injury or condition was the primary reason for hospital admission or
a secondary diagnosis. (2014, May 29). Statistics on Alcohol England, Retrieved from

How Student Can Use Memory Concepts That Will Improve...
Having memories impacts our lives greatly without them society would not be as it is today.
According to Grison, Heatherton, and Gazzaniga(2015), memory is the capacity to acquire and retain
information and skills. Not all experiences will be equally remembered, some events will leave no
memory, others will be remembered but later forgotten, and other times a memory can be remembered
for a lifetime. I will be looking into how student can use memory concepts that will improve student s
grades if they follow it correctly. And also talk about my personal study habits and how I can improve
them so I can get a more positive result in my classes. There are three phases of memory; which are
encoding, storage, and retrieval. According to Calvillo (2014); encoding is the processing of
information so that it can be stored, storage is the retention of encoded representations over time, and
lastly retrieval is the act of recalling or remembering stored information when it is needed. When
students use these three phases in school properly it will lead to success in their academic career but if
they just do minimal preparation and cut corners it will lead to a stressful time for the student. For
example in the encoding process a good student would reread a section until they familiarize
themselves with the new information. A bad student would just go over a section once and just keep
on going on to new information even though they have not familiarized themselves with the new

My father is an amateur astronomer. It is his passion, after he comes home from work at the office, to
wait outside in the fields surrounding our house with his 10 LX200 F6.3 telescope until all hours of
the morning, waiting for the perfect shot of galaxies like NGC 7479 or M16. The next evening at
dinner, despite being awake for over thirty hours, he speaks non stop about how he finally got the

Instead of asking How does it work? as is everyone else, he begins to ask What do we gain by
knowing? And herein lies the beginning of the investigation Whitman undertakes through his poetry.
The first four lines describe the experience the speaker had while in the lecture room. They don t
directly give away his feelings regarding what is going on around him; he leaves the reader to detect
the attitude on his/her own. The first half could practically be construed as one long first line, since all
four serve the same general purpose that is, to subtly set the beginning tone while creating an adequate
contrast with the last four lines of the poem. They seem to focus mainly on providing an accurate
picture of the situation around the speaker, and are structurally more complex, providing a more
straightforward description than the last four lines. Each line becomes progressively longer than the
next, and the words Whitman chooses are rather flat and all quite literal in their meanings. This first
half seems to be a forthright narrative describing his experience in the lecture hall. But delicate hints
in the text itself insinuate his attitude toward the lecture and audience.
The most conspicuous trend is Whitman s application of repetition. The repetition of the beginning
word when creates a monotonous, listing style also employed in the next three lines illustrating

Battle Of Palmito Ranch Thesis
Have you ever been so passionate about something in life that no matter what, you didn t want to see it
end? I think that Commander Theodore H. Barrett had that same desire. In May of 1865, Commander
Theodore H. Barnett led troops into what is known as the last battle of the Civil War. The Battle of
Palmito Ranch did not impact the outcome of the Civil War; but it still made history. This battle was
led by a man who wasn t ready to see the Civil War end, a man who was passionate about what he was
fighting for. The Battle of Palmito Ranch was the last land action battle of the Civil War. Both the
Union and Confederate forces were aware of the surrender of Robert E. Lee, just a few weeks before.

Antigone And The Adjustment Bureau Summary
Faith Morrow
Ms. Gottner
Pre AP;5th hour
20 December, 2017
Compare and Contrast Essay Both Antigone and the Adjustment Bureau have similarities and
differences, when analyzing one government and democracy about the both of them! There are many
ways to compare and contrast these two pieces! Although Antigone and the Adjustment Bureau are
completely different, there are many similarities that you can draw from the both of them. Not only
can you relate both of theses pieces together using one motif, you can also relate the same motif to the
real world and to the choices that you make! In Antigone, government and democracy played a huge
role throughout the story! Creon is one that really relates to this motif! In the city of Thebes, the
government was a form of democratic democracy. At the time, Creon was king! Throughout the story,
Creon ruled as a dictator! His everyday choices depended on his governmentative standing! He used
his power over the people in the city when making choices that he thought would be beneficial. He
only listened to himself and he believed that every choice he made was right! Many different
characters in the story tried to offer advice to Creon, when they realized that he was making irrational
decisions, but he chose to ignore them and he continued along his own path. For example,
Tiresias(who is a seer, and knows what s going to happen in the future) tried to warn Creon about
what would happen at the rate Creon was going at! Tiresias tried to offer Creon advice and he told
Creon that he really should take his advice, but Creon took this as an insult. Whenever someone told
Creon what to do, he took it as an insult and he wouldn t listen to anyone, but himself. In the
Adjustment Bureau, government and democracy arises right when the movie begins and is continued
throughout the film. At the beginning of the movie, David was running for Congress! Due to this, he
had to change his lifestyles and he had to be more cautious about the choices that he made. For
example, at the beginning of the movie David s support system was weakened, because he got into a
bar fight that went viral! Due to the fact that he worked for the government, he had very little privacy,
which caused this

Advantages Of Being A Male Cheerleader
With the days and months closing in on graduation, May 18,2018, the idea of collage is pushing

Although cheer and my education are very important, i want to be able to have a good student life.
Even tho I say a good student life I do not mean good parties, and crazy people. What I mean by that

  • 2. Causes Of The Coercive Acts The Coercive Acts was formed by the British Parliament to punish the Americans in Boston, Massachusetts, for the destroying the tea of the East India Company. The British needed money so they taxed the Americans to help them get money for the French and Indian War. This outraged the colonist because they didn t like being taxed without being represented. The colonist wore Native Americans attire and dumped the bags of tea into the Boston Harbor. The British viewed the retaliation of the Americans as disrespectful. The British Parliament passed several laws that angered Americans, and they believed those rights are unbearable to follow. The Coercive Acts leads to the American Revolution, and the Americans believe that British Parliament disregarded their rights as people with natural rights. The first act that was passed by the Parliament was the Boston Port Act. It was passed in March of 1774, it stopped all shipping into or out of the port of Boston until payment was received for the tea ruined in the Boston Tea Party and the tax that was due on it ( Intolerable Acts ). The act was to punish those who were involved in the Boston Tea Party. The ports were so heavily guarded that people could not give feed their horses hay from Charlestown, Massachusetts. The city of Boston began to suffer economically, because they could not make money from exporting goods. The king sent an army to make sure the rule was enforced. This showed many Americans that the king is very serious, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Summary Of Mccullers s Reflections In A Golden Eye McCullers s feelings about love and relationships were unconventional as evident by her marriage, and she felt confused and alone in her sexuality, which society had not yet recognized as valid. She therefore wrote openly about homosexual characters to show the struggle they face in order to make her audience more open minded. In Reflections in a Golden Eye, Captain Penderton is a homosexual man grappling with his feelings of attraction towards a young soldier. Upon seeing Private Williams, Penderton is overcome by a hatred, passionate as love (McCullers 73). Penderton feels an inescapable pull towards Williams, and, not knowing how to handle his feelings of attraction toward a man, bottles up his emotions and instead converts them to anger. Penderton feels trapped and confused by his passion and frustration at his inability to fit into the mold of the perfect husband and soldier. He is isolated by the other men on the base because he does not have the qualities the ideal man should have and is often looked down upon. In The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, Singer has strong feelings of love toward his roommate, Antonapoulos. His affection and yearning for his sick companion disarm the reader s homophobia by showing that love between two men is just as valid as the love between a woman and a man, just less socially accepted (Bigelow). There is evidence that McCullers also did not conform to heterosexual expectations, something that was shamed by society during her lifetime. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Communication At Prab Raritan Gardens Essay Part C: Communication is a large part at my particular site, there is open communication between all staff members and I frequently view the clarity and openness staff members share with one another. If there is an issue within the classroom, teachers will either address it among themselves or bring it up to the director. Their issues are always resolved and solutions are found. The teacher who I am interning with in particular (I will further address her as Teacher N), has no issues voicing her opinion. If she does not agree with something she brings it up in an appropriate manner and it is address. Within my time at PRAB Raritan Gardens, I have not witness any conflicts between staff members. As stated above, from what I ve witnessed everyone is very vocal about their opinions, while at the same time everyone is also very willing to help each other. An example of which is if a classroom has a particularly difficult child, teachers do not view this as that specific teacher s child to handle. If someone is able to offer help, either by bringing the child within their classroom to settle him or her down or even offering to help a child if they have a better ability to do so, they will. An example of which was a time Teacher N had helped the teacher adjacent to her classroom with a child who was bilingual, although the child did speak English he was better at speaking his native tongue, Hindi. The teachers in that classroom both do not speak Hindi, but Teacher N did because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. What Was Paul s Response Of The 1st Century Circumcision... Armand Jeffris Daise RELG 204 May 2nd, 2016 Final Exam 1. Paul and Gnosticism. What was Paul s response to the 1st century circumcision controversy? What were the characteristic features (beliefs practices) of Gnostic Christianity? And in your judgment, can either viewpoint (or both) be considered orthodox over against the other? Throughout the early history of Christianity, disputes broke out over mosaic law, particularly in the mid first century when the issue of circumcision, cutting off the foreskin of a man s penis, was a heavily debated and a recurring issue among different churches and members of the church. Many Christians believed that following the mosaic law, which included the act of circumcision, was no longer required for salvation as having faith and accepting Jesus as the messiah would be enough. Others, on the other hand, believed that requirements set forth in the mosaic law were still necessary to be saved. These people were negatively branded with the name Judaizers (those who believed that all Christians should follow the Law of Moses), and were often criticized for being discriminatory and elitist. A meeting was then held to discuss the whether the application of the mosaic law to new members of the Christian community, particularly focusing on if those trying to convert, were obliged undergo circumcision to be accepted into, and become part of, the Christian community. The apostolic decree of the council of Jerusalem moved away from its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Jon Stewart and News Distortion Network News stations like Fox and MSNBC have distorted news information so much so that viewers now turn to comedy central to keep current with the news. Turning to comedians for news is not a horrible idea as long as viewers understand that comedians must also distort news in order to entertain. Now that is not to say that comedians give out fake news; a comedian must first understand the whole of the topic before running it through a comedic process, in which they then begin distorting the information to attain laughter. Jon Stewart has an enormous impact in the media. Many young viewers turn to Stewart for his take on the news. According to Cox of Wonkette.com in an article by Kurtz Howard, The Campaign of a Comedian; Jon Stewart s Fake Journalism Enjoys Real Political Impact, says It s not that young people don t like politics. The way politics is talked about in the media is alienating. They re seeing Jon Stewart as a kind of hero who will lead us out of the darkness. Stewart allows his viewers to keep current with the news by giving sound bites, which they then could verify or explore. While many news reporters believe Stewart to be highly controversial, the majority of young adults will watch Jon Stewart s comedic take on the news because it is unbiased and attempts to only entertain. In an article by Rachel Smolkin, What the Mainstream Can Learn from Jon Stewart, Venise Wagner an associate chair of the Journalism department at SFSU says the Daily Show [Jon ... • 7. Notre Dame Admission Essay Sample Two years ago, when I was faced with the difficult task of choosing a college, I turned to my family for advice. Both peoples built mighty temples and made countless sacrifices in the name of their gods, but the exact nature of their relationships with their gods remains a mystery. Historians are left to guess at their customs and traditions from the works they left behind such as Homer s epic poem The Illiad and the anonymous epic poem the Epic of Gilgamesh. From these texts, it becomes apparent that the Mesopotamians relationship with their gods was one founded on a sense of respect while the Greeks was one rooted in fear. Correspondingly, the Mesopotamian gods are more restrained and nurturing in their interactions with humans while the Greek gods are brash and patronizing, though neither set of gods is greatly concerned with the wellbeing of mortals. In both cultures, humans and gods share an undeniable connection in their range and expression of emotion. As such, though Mesopotamians and Greeks take different approaches to interaction with their gods and vice versa, the relationship between humans and gods is fundamentally the same in both cultures. From the human perspective, the Mesopotamians and Greeks share a strong sense of reverence for their gods. Indeed, loosely is the word; the period, setting, and circumstances of the film are totally different from those of the novella. Yet, a close analysis of character, plot, and theme in each respective work reveals that Conrad s classic story of savagery and madness is present in its cinematic reworking. The idea of company man turned savage, of a brilliant and successful team player, being groomed by the Company for greater things, suddenly gone native, is perfectly realized in both novella and film. In the film, Kurtz is portrayed by Marlon Brando, the father of American method actors, who lends weight (both physically and dramatically) to the figure of the megalomaniacal Kurtz. Brando s massive girth is all the more ironic for those familiar with Heart of Darkness who recall Conrad s description: I could see the cage of his ribs all astir, the bones of his arms waving. It was as though an animated image of death carved out of old ivory had been shaking its hand with menaces at a motionless crowd of men... (Conrad, p.135). One could speculate that Coppola s Kurtz is a graphic analogy of the bloated American war machine dominating and perverting the innocent montegnards of Cambodia; however, after viewing Eleanor Coppola s documentary, one finds that the casting was more based on a combination of Coppola s wanting to work with Brando (remember The Godfather ) and Brando s own weight problem. (It should also be noted that the cult like following of Kurtz in Heart of Darkness is brilliantly and subtly updated by Coppola in a foreshadowing scene in which missives to Willard from headquarters are intercut with scenes of newspaper clippings about Charles Manson.) AR has become popular and heavily researched in China because it is shorter and easily applied (Wang, et. al., 2011) Depression is easy to target with attribution theory because it can be individualized to the patients need and target the negative outcomes specifically. AR therapy targets the negative attributions by supplying alternative explanations that are more healthy attributions (Wang et. al., 2011). By offering a healthy alternative explanation the depressed person begins to make sense and not feel so out of control of their life. This may also lead to a quick way for depressed individuals to assess what is really happening and why they perceive the situation so negatively. This goes back to the many different facets of depression. By targeting where the negative perceptions are coming from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Congestion and Traffic Pollution in New York City Essay Congestion and traffic pollution has been a major problem in New York City for years. There have been many laws, tolls, and fines implemented over the past few decades to try and fix the problem. Yet, congestion still exists. Congestion occurs when there is overcrowding on roadways that s causes traffic jams. There are several reasons for the severity of this issue. Congestion causes a lot of delays in the city. It is unlikely that people are on time for anything, even if they planned ahead. With traffic in the city the way it is, you can t blame them. The indirect effect of congestion is traffic pollution. Traffic pollution is polluting of the environment caused by harmful toxins and gases given released by cars. The amount of pollution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This pollution increases health risks by introducing people to harmful toxins released by cars, specifically in the asthmatic population. Hence, one can see the problems associated with traffic congestion and pollution. There are several ways to counteract the problem of traffic congestion and pollution. Firstly, the most practical solution to New York City s congestion problem is to decrease the number of cars on the road. One plausible way would be to promote and offer alternative methods of transportation such as buses, subways, and taxis. If people used more public transportation there would be fewer cars on the road, less congestion, and less traffic pollution. Another alternative would be to increase toll prices. By increasing tolls on bridges and tunnels, people would be much less inclined to drive to the city and as a result there would be less traffic congestion and pollution. Gridlock is a major cause of traffic problems in Manhattan. If we were to implement more severe fines for blocking intersections, people would not try to beat the light, in effect decreasing overall congestion. A third approach to try and resolve this issue would be to change some one way streets to two way streets. Doing this would allow easier access to destinations and would eliminate indirect route taking. As a result, overall pollution would decrease. These are some of the methods that would be viable in decreasing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Intracranial Aneurysm Research Paper Ruptured Saccular Intracranial Aneurysm associated with Arteriovenous Malformation Introduction An arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is an abnormal collection of blood vessels in which arterial blood flows directly into the draining vein without the normal interposed capillaries. AVM are tangled anastomosis of blood vessels of varying calibre in which arteriovenous shunting occurs in a central nidus in which the area towards in which multiple feeding arteries converge and from which enlarged vein drains.1 They have a higher rate of bleeding than normal vessels. Of Thomas Manns Tonio KroegerAnd Albert Camus s The Stranger Thomas Mann s Tonio Kroeger and Albert Camus s The Stranger Introduction The literary characters of Meursault and Tonio Kroeger are likely depicted as outsiders in the novels The Stranger by Albert Camus and Tonio Kroeger by Thomas Mann. The novels can both be described as existentialist investigations. In the school of philosophy, existentialism seeks to investigate the relationship between individuals and the society, the meaning of life, and the unavoidable conflicts in interpersonal relationships among other inquisitions (Sleasman, 2014). Existentialism is evident in the two novels under review as the characters are treated as outsiders. Albert Camus The Stranger The concept of the outsider is demonstrated by the two lead characters namely Meursault and Tonio Kroeger. In The Stranger, Meursault is depicted as an outsider both in himself as well as the society as owing to his criminal tendencies as he battles to show emotions and link with realities regarding his life (Sleasman, 2014). Meursault is depicted as much disconnected to the current world and life either emotionally or socially. For instance, the opening scene shows how Meursault reacts to his mother s death. His lack of remorse and loss is both salient and borders on the pathological. By falling asleep during his mother s funeral; the action demonstrates the lack of feelings and social competence which children are usually expected to show to their parents (Camus, 2012). The study is also focused on investigating the reliability of alcohol specific compensatory health belief scale using test retest and internal consistency measures. Introduction There has been a lot of recent research into compensatory health beliefs, in particular what activates these beliefs. Compensatory health beliefs are beliefs that a person activates as compensation after engaging in unhealthy behaviours. An example of this is someone believing that they can have a piece of cake as they are going to the gym later. According to Grison, Heatherton, and Gazzaniga(2015), memory is the capacity to acquire and retain information and skills. Not all experiences will be equally remembered, some events will leave no memory, others will be remembered but later forgotten, and other times a memory can be remembered for a lifetime. I will be looking into how student can use memory concepts that will improve student s grades if they follow it correctly. And also talk about my personal study habits and how I can improve them so I can get a more positive result in my classes. There are three phases of memory; which are encoding, storage, and retrieval. According to Calvillo (2014); encoding is the processing of information so that it can be stored, storage is the retention of encoded representations over time, and lastly retrieval is the act of recalling or remembering stored information when it is needed. When students use these three phases in school properly it will lead to success in their academic career but if they just do minimal preparation and cut corners it will lead to a stressful time for the student. For example in the encoding process a good student would reread a section until they familiarize themselves with the new information. A bad student would just go over a section once and just keep on going on to new information even though they have not familiarized themselves with the new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The next evening at dinner, despite being awake for over thirty hours, he speaks non stop about how he finally got the perfect shot after five hours of painstaking positioning, how the galaxy, the nebula, the distant moon or dying star existed, or how it was turning back into scattered atoms leaving only a purplish ring of dust to prove it was ever there. And herein lies the beginning of the investigation Whitman undertakes through his poetry. The first four lines describe the experience the speaker had while in the lecture room. They don t directly give away his feelings regarding what is going on around him; he leaves the reader to detect the attitude on his/her own. The first half could practically be construed as one long first line, since all four serve the same general purpose that is, to subtly set the beginning tone while creating an adequate contrast with the last four lines of the poem. They seem to focus mainly on providing an accurate picture of the situation around the speaker, and are structurally more complex, providing a more straightforward description than the last four lines. Each line becomes progressively longer than the next, and the words Whitman chooses are rather flat and all quite literal in their meanings. This first half seems to be a forthright narrative describing his experience in the lecture hall. But delicate hints in the text itself insinuate his attitude toward the lecture and audience. The most conspicuous trend is Whitman s application of repetition. The repetition of the beginning word when creates a monotonous, listing style also employed in the next three lines illustrating stylistically and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Antigone And The Adjustment Bureau Summary Faith Morrow Ms. Gottner Pre AP;5th hour 20 December, 2017 Compare and Contrast Essay Both Antigone and the Adjustment Bureau have similarities and differences, when analyzing one government and democracy about the both of them! There are many ways to compare and contrast these two pieces! Although Antigone and the Adjustment Bureau are completely different, there are many similarities that you can draw from the both of them. Not only can you relate both of theses pieces together using one motif, you can also relate the same motif to the real world and to the choices that you make! In Antigone, government and democracy played a huge role throughout the story! Creon is one that really relates to this motif! In the city of Thebes, the government was a form of democratic democracy. At the time, Creon was king! Throughout the story, Creon ruled as a dictator! His everyday choices depended on his governmentative standing! He used his power over the people in the city when making choices that he thought would be beneficial. He only listened to himself and he believed that every choice he made was right! Many different characters in the story tried to offer advice to Creon, when they realized that he was making irrational decisions, but he chose to ignore them and he continued along his own path. For example, Tiresias(who is a seer, and knows what s going to happen in the future) tried to warn Creon about what would happen at the rate Creon was going at! Tiresias tried to offer Creon advice and he told Creon that he really should take his advice, but Creon took this as an insult. Whenever someone told Creon what to do, he took it as an insult and he wouldn t listen to anyone, but himself. In the Adjustment Bureau, government and democracy arises right when the movie begins and is continued throughout the film. At the beginning of the movie, David was running for Congress! Due to this, he had to change his lifestyles and he had to be more cautious about the choices that he made. For example, at the beginning of the movie David s support system was weakened, because he got into a bar fight that went viral! Due to the fact that he worked for the government, he had very little privacy, which caused this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
