Why Golf Is Important
What does golf mean to the United States of America? People say football is America s favorite
sport to watch. How many people actually get to play football after their high school or country.
Anyone can play from the time you can walk until you can t walk anymore. In this paper I college
days? Not many that is the reason why I think golfis the most important sport in this am going to
prove to you how important golf is in our country and data showing you how many people play
and their stats. In the last twelve months America has had over twenty four million golfers. This
does not include how many times multiple people played countless rounds on the same course.
It has taken a drop since 2005 when Tiger Woods was at his peak and golf was on the rise. In 2005
there was almost twenty six million golfers playing in the US. Now with the big four in golf
with Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, Jason Day, and Rickie Fowler playing golf is on the rise and you
are supposed to see a rise in younger players coming out to play. We have not seen anything... Show

When they go to war and are away from normal life for so long they develop a disease call PTSD
(Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). When veterans are looking for a cure for something like this
doctors often refer to golf to help them cope with their problems. They get a sense of relief when
they are out on the range hitting balls or they are with their friends playing on the course. In the
US their are organizations call Wounded Warrior project where they host tournaments around the
country to help veterans who need help. There are also organizations such as Fairways for
Warriors which bring veterans out with their families to take lessons and take away from their
problems. They go out and get lessons from local PGA pros and other volunteers. This is one
thing that is on the rise in the United States and I think will be a huge asset to the growth of the

EBP Research Essay
While many studies have examined the attitudes and barriers in implementing evidence based
practice (EBP), not many have examined which variables lead to increased practice, knowledge,
and attitudes. In a study described in the article Use, Knowledge, and Attitudes Toward Evidence
Based Practice Among Nursing Staff, by White Williams et al. in 2013, these aspects were
examined at a large Magnet hospital. A questionnaire divided among three subscales (use,
knowledge, and attitudes) was used as the method. The results of this study demonstrated how
these aspects of EBP were positively impacted by several variables among the staff and how
awareness of EBP and implementation of educational programs is necessary in the hospital s
culture. These results can be used by hospitals to look at ways to improve evidence based
practices in the clinical setting. The study done by White Williams et al. (2013) recognized how
certain variables among the nursing staff affected their use, knowledge, and attitudes of EBP.
These variables were correlated with a higher overall score on the... Show more content on

(2013) also examined if education, whether it was hands on workshops, research days, classes,
etc., had an impact on the use, knowledge, and attitudes of EBP among nursing staff. The overall
total score was greater for those that had some type of EBP education. Specifically, there was a
significantly increased total score in half (12/24) of the questions among those who had been
previously educated compared to those who had not been. Because those who had been educated
about EBP had overall significantly higher scores on the attitudes subscale, it shows the importance
of targeting attitude toward the use of EBP in changing behavior. Also, the more educated staff
found EBP fundamental to their practice. Gaining knowledge is crucial in understanding the
importance of the implementation of EBP. Knowledge is the second step in implementing EBP into

Distracted Driving and Cell Phones
Today, one of the major sources of automobile accidents is distracted driving due to cell phone
use. Driver distraction can be defined as the diversion of attention away from activities critical
for the safe driving toward a competing activity (Young 3). The dangers of driving while using a
cell phone cannot be overstated, but drivers still use their cell phones even though they are
illegal. According to a survey, About 2 out of 10 (18%) report that they have sent text messages
or emails while driving; about half (49%) of those 21 to 24 year olds report doing so (NHTSA).
This indicates that millions of people use their cell phones while driving everyday, and with the
increased availability and affordability of cell phones, the risk can only increase. In this paper the
topics that will be discussed in regard to cell phone use while driving include the brief history of
the cell phone, talking while driving, texting while driving, the part of the community most
affected by using cell phones, alternatives to reduce incidents, the laws that have been enacted, and
the organizations that endorse no texting while driving. In a time when rapid access to
information is valuable, cell phones have bridged the gap between the information and the user.
The cell phone came into existence when Martin Cooper, at Motorola, developed the first portable
handheld radio for the Chicago police department. The first cell phone, Motorola DynaTac, was
over 2.5 pounds and could be only used to

Theme Of Order In The Canterbury Tales
Marissa Diaz
Professor Hadorn
British Literature
26 October 2017
Order Presented Through Chaucer I think that people are most comfortable when the world is
orderly. I think there s the sense that when you begin questioning basic distinctions, such as the
distinction between being male and being female, it represents a threat to the social order. Andrew
Solomon. When it comes to order Geoffrey Chaucer has an interesting way of portraying the
essence of order throughout The Canterbury Tales. His characters seem to follow the social order
at first glance, but as we look further into the tales we see just how out of line these characters
are. Even the character that is Chaucer is blind to the twistedness of his fellow passengers.
Chaucer only sees the good in his travel companions, not the hidden upheaval of the social order
that was so strictly in place. Through discussion it was said how the social class was the foundation
of everyday life during the Middle Ages. The idea of Social class was a huge part in determining
the role one would hold in the lives of medieval people. When a person of the times would look
at the aristocracy class and compare those people to the less than desirable lower class, the two
were habitually regarded by society as virtually different races. In The Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey
Chaucer is able to show the wide variety among the classes all intermingling on this voyage.
Chaucer is able to catch the subtle differences in almost every aspect of

Both Roosevelt s Four Freedoms speech and Kennedy s Inaugural Address discuss freedom.
Throughout reading two similar speeches, they had one specific thing in common. With both
presidents taking the same solemn oath, they address the state of America at the very beginning of
their presidency. Making their outline plan clear as possible to the American citizens for the next
four years they will be in office. Explaining to all of America that they are willing to work with
other countries to help their bonds become stronger than they are during this time. Therefore,

Catcher In The Rye Vs. Don Quixote Essay
J.D. Salinger s TheCatcher in the Rye can be compared to Cervantes Don Quixote. Both novels
feature naive protagonists pining for an ideal world. In Salinger s novel, Holden Caulfield is a
sixteen year old who experiences challenging and questionable events in the mid stage of his
adolescence. Holden wants to protect the innocent children like the catcher in the rye from the
immorality and corruptness of the phony adult world. In Cervantes work, Don Quixoteis the
idealistic protagonist who sets out to transform the world in accordance to his medieval vision. His
growing obsession with stories of knighthood and books of chivalry leads him to abandon his former
life and become a wandering knight set out to right the world s wrongs.... Show more content on

As Holden was walking up the stairs he sees fuck you written on the wall and rubs it off with his
hand. Then, later as he is going down a different staircase he sees the same phrase on the wall, but
this time scratched in with a knife so he can t efface it. At that moment, he thought that there would
be millions of signs just like that one in the world. There was no way he could eradicate all of
them. Even in the peace of the Egyptian tomb room at the museum there is a fuck you written in
crayon. At this point, he is hopeless and realizes that his dreams are unattainable.
In the carousel scene with Phoebe Holden reluctantly accepts the fact that everyone loses his or
her innocence. While on the carousel, Phoebe joins the other kids in trying to grab for the gold
rings. Although Holden is afraid that she will fall off the horse, he realizes that he can t stop her.
He states, The thing is with kids is; if they want to grab for the gold ring, you have to let them do
it and not say anything. If they fall off, they fall off, but it s bad if you say anything to them.
Similarly, Cervantes Don Quixote portrays an idealistic protagonist who sets out to transform the
world in accordance to his medieval vision. The novel opens by briefly describing the main
character s fascination with chivralic stories. He dreams for the way things were in the times of
knights and the code of chivalry. Even though he lived in the Renaissance Era, he decided to turn
his dream into

Touch Reaction Times
Visual, Auditory and Touch Reaction Times
Nick Marshall, Jack Wilson, Angus Newman: 8F 4 /6/2018
Introduction:
The purpose of this investigation is to examine the differences in reaction times when using
different stimuli. This investigation relates to the nervous and brain systems in the human body.
When your senses pick up clues from the outside world it takes a small amount of time for you to
recognize the signal and respond. (Yuhas, 2018) Reaction time is the measure of speed from which
your brain recognises a stimulus, to the reaction, possibly movement. The process of reacting is
carried out by many neurons as well as numerous systems and circuits in the brain. (Yuhas, 2018).
There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Previous studies produced results that show that touch is the fastest, then auditory and finally
visual with the averagely slowest reaction time. This data suggests that visual stimuli cause the
fastest reaction, followed by auditory, and finally touch. The average in time for visual stimuli
was 0.170 seconds. Previous results have evidenced that visual stimulus is the slowest, with an
average time of 0.25 seconds. This experiment contradicts these results. The second fastest
reaction time was caused by an auditory stimulus. This produced an average reading of 0.176
seconds. This is similar to previous results. However, there is a small discrepancy of 0.006
seconds between the previous results and the results of this test. Finally, touch stimulus was the
slowest in this experiment. This contradicts previous results. In other tests the touch stimulus was
the fastest at 0.15 seconds, whereas in this experiment it was the slowest: 0.193 seconds. When
gravity pulled the rulers to the mass of the earth, it took time for the subject to recognise the
movement and to react to it. These results contradict previous experiments. The brain signals
were processed on average more slowly than in previous experiments. However, this experiment
could have been unfair and biased. When the auditory and touch tests were carried out, there was
most likely a small amount of time between the call or touch and the ruler being dropped. Also,
test subjects were changed throughout the experiment. This would have caused a discrepancy in
the results, because different subjects may have had different personal reaction times due to
several factors. Also, the age could have had an effect. In this experiment we used 13 year old test
subjects. It is unknown of the age of the previous experiments. This experiment could have been
improved by conducting more tests over a range of people to calculate a more global and

This is a story about Spike and Edna and how they created new life. Spike is a sperm that is very
excited about his day. Edna is an egg that feels like the luckiest egg ever. Spike and Edna both feel
lucky because they were chosen for fertilization today. Spike and Edna are going to fertilize by
combining together to create a new life. Edna has been waiting for this day since she was created
in Katie s ovaries while she was just a fetus. Edna was not the only egg created while Katie was a

Edna has waited a very long time for this day. Even though Spike is only a couple of months old,
Edna is 23 years old just like Katie. You see, Edna was created inside of Katie when she was just
a fetus. Edna is so very excited because none of her 183 that have left already have had the
opportunity to be fertilized and there are still 216 other eggsthat could be fertilized. You see
when an egg is ready to be fertilized, it is called ovulation and only 400 of Katie s 500 thousand
eggs will get the opportunity to ovulate. Edna learned that ovulation is a grand experience that
happens within a matter of a minute or two. Ovulation is when Edna the egg (aka ovum) is
released from Katie s ovary (Rathus, Nevid, Fichner Rathus, 2007, p. 86). What happens is a
small part of Katie s follicle that faces her abdomen bursts and a fluid runs out which is full of
millions of cells. Amongst all of these cells is Edna and the cells with her provides nourishment
for her. Now that Edna is ready to experience ovulation, Katie s fallopian tubes are getting signals
that they should get ready for Edna to come on down. Edna has experienced ovulation now and is
beginning to travel down Katie s fallopian tubes. Little fingers like tubules caught Edna as she
started down the fallopian tubes. Edna decides to hang out in Katie s fallopian tubes and get
herself ready to meet up with Spike to create another person. Now that Katie is ready, she is

generally use a series connection and this arrangement is called as Photovoltaic module or PV

Firewalls And Infrastructure Security
Firewalls and Infrastructure Security
A firewall is a network device, hardware, software, or a combination of the two, whose purpose is
to enforce a security policy across its connections. It is comparable to a wall that has a window
where the wall serves to keep things out, except those permitted through the window. A security
policy acts like the glass in the window; it permits some things to pass, light, while blocking others,
air. The heart of a firewall is the security policy that it enforces.
Security policies are a series of rules that define what traffic is permissible and what traffic is to
be blocked or denied. These are not universal rules, and there are many different sets of rules for a
single company with multiple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Advanced firewalls employ stateful packet filtering to prevent several types of undesired
communications. Should a packet come from outside the network, in an attempt to pretend that it
is a response to a message from inside the network, the firewall will have no record of it s being
requested and can discard it, blocking access. As many communications will be transferred to high
ports, above 1023, stateful inspection will enable the system to determine which sets of high
communications are permissible and which should be blocked. The disadvantage to stateful
inspection is that it takes significant resources and processing to do this type of inspection and this
reduces efficiency and requires more robust and expensive hardware. This type of inspection is
essential in today s comprehensive networks. As they are in routers, switches, servers, and other
network devices, Access control lists are a cornerstone of security in firewalls. Just as you must
protect the device from physical access, Access control lists do the same task for electronic
access. Firewalls can extend the concept of Access control lists by enforcing them as well at a
packet level when packet level stateful filtering is performed. This can add an extra layer of
protection, making it more difficult for an outside attacker to breach a firewall.
Some high security firewalls also employ application layer proxies. As the name

Racial Inequality And Discrimination Of Child Welfare
I. Conceptualize Framework
Racial disproportionality and disparity in child welfare represents a complex phenomenon
emanating from historical theoretical socioeconomic and policy trends that has shaped this service
over the past several decades. There are many theories that have been proposed explain why racial
disproportionality and disparity exists in child welfare. It has been recognized the underlying roots
of racial disproportionality and disparity are complex and often coexists. Racial disproportionate
in child welfare will be the focus of this research. I will focus on is Racial Bias and Discrimination
of child welfare agencies, particularly the child protective services.
The literature suggest the one of the reason for over representation of minority(colored) children in
child welfare results from the different treatment of race or racial bias (attitudinal dimension) an
discrimination (behavioral dimension) (mortion, 1999; Roberts, 2002). This theory also suggests,
this treatment can be external or internal in the welfare system; however I will focus only on the
implication of internal welfare agencies (i.e. child protective specialist). Child protective specialists
culture and policies may lead to inequitable treatment of families of color. CPS workers may have
biases towards families of color which could affect the decision making at any point of the
investigation. This may not have occurred intentionally by the worker however due to institutional
racism which

Internal And External Conflict In The Story Blue Winds...
The comparison of internal and external conflicts and the effect on the lives of the protagonists
Internal and external conflicts often affect a person s life as well as their families lives.
Additionally, it may lead a man to experience an epiphany about his own life. The story Blue
Winds Dancing demonstrates the internal and external struggles experienced by the native as he
transitions into white society. The native is an outcast and has a longing to return to his native

external issue that Manischevitz faces is the ability to trust the black angel. He thinks [he] is a

of his faith and after he wavers, he returns to God. Throughout these tests of faith, he experiences an

an external conflict; he cannot get home after he realizes that he does not want to acculturate into
the white society. He tries to return home by dangerously hitchhiking onto the Santa Fe train. When
he finally leaps onto the cattle car, the native feels peaceful and content at last because he is going

Gender Roles A Self Fulling Prophecy Essay
This cycle can negatively impact the author s life and the reader s life, whether they know it or not,
because as they read or write harmfully gendered relationships, they subconsciously affirm the
truths portrayed in the fiction and spread these beliefs to other readers. In other words, damaging
genderroles appear right and natural, because they are so often depicted in the media as right and
natural, with relationships healthy based on equality being rarely offered as the alternative. This
makes heteronomrative gender roles a self fulling prophecy with people performing these
stereotypes, because they are presented as the norm. If feminized male characters serve as the stand
in for the female reader, then fanfictions that depicts the feminine as mentally and physically less
able than the masculine must contribute to this vicious cycle as well. In addition, the masculine
gender roleoften exemplifies the type of behavior considered natural for men. In American culture,
part of this natural masculine gender role assumes that men will be complicit ,if not actively
participating, in patriarchal culture and the poisonous values often associated with it. The
traditional masculine model is made to seem so right that men portraying this gender role, and the
women reading about this gender role, are made to believe that the domination and exploitation of
women, and even other men, is not just expected, but demanded (Carter 2011). Within the Hannibal
fandom, this type

Leukemia in the Western countries is the most common childhood cancer and is most common in
children under the age of 10. On the other hand, in India, have a much lower rate of childhood
leukemia. Scientists now believe they have discovered the reason behind.
Leukemia is a cancer of the bone marrow, a malignant progressive disease in which the bone
marrow and other blood forming organs produce increased numbers of immature or abnormal
leukocytes. These suppress the production of normal blood cells, leading to anemia and other
symptoms.
The Conventional medicine treatment takes usually about two to three years using radiation and
chemotherapy, which has extremely unpleasant side effects (nausea, hair loss, mucosal and
intestinal inflammation, etc.) and yet still can bring unknown long term consequences such as
sterility.

juice, the risk of leukemia by the juice drinking children had reduced by 46 percent.

Persuasive Essay Ethos
This year s U.S. News and World Report s top ranked universities in America: #1 Princeton
University, #2 Harvard University, #3 University of Chicago. For many aspiring high school
students, being admitted into these elite universities has become nothing less than an infatuation.
However, many believe an eliteeducationmay actually have negative effects on young adults.
Echoed in, Don t Send Your Kids To The Ivy League
by William Deresiewicz, he uses elements of
ethos and pathos to effectively argue that students who attend highly competitive universities may
actually be harmed by transforming into people who are anxious, timid, lost, with little curiosity
and a stunted sense of purpose. Throughout the essay, Deresiewicz presents anecdotes and
explanations to contend his suggestion. In doing so, he is capable of building trust with the
readers and providing authentic reasoning for his claim. Deresiewicz explains, It was only after
twenty four years in the Ivy League college and a Ph.D. at Columbia, ten years on the faculty at
Yale that I started to think about what this system does to kids and how they can escape from it,
what it does to our society and how we can dismantle it (Deresiewicz 203). By stating this, the
author not only displays his honesty to the readers when he admits the duration of coming to his
realization, but he also establishes his honorable status and credibility by mentioning his experience

Harvest Of Empire By Juan Gonzalez
When you are young and they ask you what do you want to be when you grow up? Many
answered doctor, lawyer, police, and so on. But when it came for my turn to answer that
question I didn t know exactly what to say. None of those things interest me at all. I was always

do well in school in order to have a better future. Until this day they still tell me this. In harvest of

order to have a better future. My father came into this country to play major league baseball,
back in his hometown Consuelo, San Pedro de Macoris. He is known for his baseball skills and
grew up with baseball player Sammy Sosa. Although I don t much about my father, I could tell
you he never made it into major league baseball. He wanted to make sure he was always there
for his kids. I don t see my father that often anymore as I used to when I was a kid. My mother

Tragic Heroism of Creon Essay
Aristotle once said that a Greek Tragedy must include an important person that has a flaw. By
this flaw, the audience should feel pity and fear. Creon, a character in the Greek tragedy Antigone
, resembles a perfect example of a tragic hero. This play was written by Sophocles, a historic
playwright during the 5th century. It begins with the illegal burial of Polyneices, Antigone s
beloved brother. Creon, the King of Thebes, is coerced to condemn his niece Antigone to death.
Being loyal to his city, Creon follows through with his punishment of Antigone. By doing so, his
character is changed forever. Creon has the qualities of a tragic hero: he is a good person with
superior status, he has a tragic flaw, and he comes to realize the role he... Show more content on

As simple as that (Sophocles 7). This shows that Creon has the power to condemn the people of
his city to death and with his power he decides the fate of Antigone. By having goodness and
superiority Creon changes the lives of many characters, both good and bad.
A tragic flaw is one of the most important qualities of a tragic hero. The change in most of the
characters was a result of Creon s tragic flaws. Creon may think he is infallible, but really he has
many flaws that lead to his downfall. The first is anger, which causes Creon to make poor
choices. After a heated debate with his son Haemon, Creon becomes angry and says, I ll take
her to a deserted spot / And bury her alive in a trench (Sophocles 20). Through Creon s anger he
influences Antigone s death and by doing so, she commits suicide. Aside from having anger,
Creon is also a stubborn person. By his stubbornness he does not want to be proven wrong so he
says, You ll never persuade me to bury that corpse (Sophocles 24). He shows his stubbornness by
saying that he will never change his mind about Antigone. When Teiresias, the fortuneteller, hears
this he explains to Creon that if he does not change his mind he will cause another death. After
hearing this Creon must bury the body of Polyneices and free Antigone, because fate never lies.
Little does he know that he is too late and the prophecy comes true. The last tragic flaw of Creon is
that he is filled with temerity. Creon is

Reasons for the U.S. Turning to Imperialism at the End of...
Essay Question: Why did the U.S. turn to Imperialism at the end of the 19th century?
Imperialism is the creation and maintenance of an unequal economic, cultural, and territorial
relationship, usually between states and often in the form of an empire, based on domination and
subordination. (Johnston 375) By the 1890s, many Americans leaders started to have new attitude
towards imperialistic adventures abroad. There were numerous reasons for the U.S. to turn to
Imperialism at the end of the 19th century, mainly the economic, political, strategic, and
humanitarian motives. Various industrialists as well as investors including bankers and the new

An initial indication for American attitudes toward the use of force abroad was demonstrated in
Hawaii. In 1893, encouraged by the Harrison administration and assisted by the U.S. Marines from
the cruiser Boston, pro American sugar planter overthrew Queen Liliuokalani and requested the
annexation of Hawaii by the U.S. After that, President Grover Cleveland sent a commission to
Hawaii to determine the wishes of the Hawaiian citizens concerning their future, Last but not least,
the idea of racial superiority from Social Darwinism and, ironically, the moral responsibility to
civilize and uplift the inferior races of Africa and Asia accounted for the increased American
interest in foreign frontiers in the 1890s. In his book Our Country, Josiah Strong stated that God
had appointed Anglo Saxons to be their brother s keeper. Furthermore, Kipling bolstered the idea of
the White Man s Burden , the duty of white people to help and educate people who lived in
undeveloped civilization . Senator Albert J. Beveridge of Indiana also suggested that the opening of
the frontier would free the American spirit. Right before the Spanish American War or the Cuban
War for Independence 1898, American public opinion was heavily influence by the Yellow Press .

concentration camps were published and spread throughout the U.S. For

In The Undercover Parent Harlan Coben thinks that parents should use spyware to keep tabs on
what their kids do on the internet. According to Coben, there are two reasons to put spyware on
your child s computer. One, parents need to protect their kids from cyberbullying and secondly,
everyone already can see what your children do on the internet. Coben also says that children will

The group will be free to go about everything as they please. There might as well not be a leader
present at all when it comes to a laissez faire leader. It will be difficult for a group with this type
of leader to stay on task, especially when the group comes across a problem or conflict. The
leader will not step up and take action, and the group members might not be capable of getting
through this obstacle. Right in the middle of the authoritarian and laissez faire leaders is the
democratic leader. The climate provided by a democratic leader will be more desirable compared
to those of the other two styles of leadership. Allowing the group to reach a consensus rather than
a leader making all of the decisions, will give the members of the group a sense of belonging.

Pros And Cons Of Independence Movements
Independence movements have occurred across the globe as long as countries have existed.
Stronger and more developed countries frequently attempt to grow their empires through means of
colonization or imperialism which leave long lasting effects on nations and generations to come.
The two nations that I have chosen to compare and contrast with regards to independence
movements are Moroccoand Brazil. Each country experienced pros and cons during the time they
were under the control of different nations and each was able to establish independence after
growing pains and frustrations occurred.
Analysis
Although both countries, Morocco and Brazil, were products of European imperialism, they each
encountered very different experiences. Morocco was a French protectorate between the years of
1912 and 1955. When nearby countries experienced economic weakness and crises, they
succumbed to rule by the British, Turkish or French. Morocco was able to avoid exterior control
until rivalries between European nations started increasing until inevitably, France stepped in.
Morocco had previously been independent for over 1,000 years and had openly accepted
influences from Muslin Iberia as well as the Ottoman Empire. France had expressed interest in
Morocco as early as 1830 as the country was deemed advantageous geographically, and Portugal
was gaining protectorates and control of the Atlantic coast of Africa.
Morocco opposed French rule and frustrations stemmed from the start even though

The Darkness Out There and The Withered Arm are both short stories. The characterization

The Withered Arm as a 3rd person narrative whereas Penelope Livelyuses a mixture between 3rd

Kerry builds a profile on her character when he talks with Sandra. He shows his dislike of the

The way Mrs. Rutter always watches Sandra and glinting from the cushions gives an uneasy feel

Date Submitted Types of White Collar Crime: There are different types of criminal offenses
since a criminal act can be regarded as a specific type of offense based on the nature of crime.
The various types of criminal activities have developed to become more than a single problem to
nearly all criminal justice systems across the globe. The main reason for the divergent
classification of criminal activities is because they occur in different settings and are conducted for
different motives. The major types of crimes across the globe are drug, street, organized, political,
victimless, and white collar crimes. Street crimes and drug crime problems have developed to
become the two leading problems for many law enforcement agencies. White collar crimes can be
described as offenses that are conducted or occur with a business setting ( About the Different
Types , n.d.). Some of the major white collar crimes are theft and fraud, counterfeiting, bribery and
kickbacks, public corruption, mail fraud, money laundering, embezzlement, and identity theft.
These types of crimes need to be approached with critical and careful care because they sometimes
involve difficult financial transactions and high profile figures such as politicians or business
executives. One of the major differences between white collar crimes and other types of illegal
activities is the fact that these types of offenses do not involve physical violence since they are non

Based on Laura Hillenbrand s 2010 best seller, the film Unbroken is an inspiring, three time Oscar

by Jack O Connell), enduring the unimaginable brutalities of war. Directed by Angelina Jolie and
produced by Erwin Stoff, this film is a story of survival, resilience, and redemption. Although this
movie has some tear jerking moments and a few memorable quotes, it seems to have fallen flat

Although many may assume that this was difficult for both friends, there was only a brief moment
of panic between the two that expressed how hard being separated was. The director very quickly
moved on to the next scene, putting little to no emphasis on the emotional tribulation they both just
faced. Moments throughout the rest of the movie also fail to connect with the viewer on an
emotional level. During the days that Zamperini spent at the POW camps, he was particularly
tortured by the sadistic prison guard, Mutsuhiro Watanabe (played by Japanese musician Miyavi).
After being punched in the face by every prisoner at the camp and running races against the prison
guards for their amusement, one can only imagine the pain Zamperini was in. The extensive,
lengthy scenes of his torture make the extremities of his abuse clear, but they do not give the
viewer clear insight as to what Zamperini was feeling, as they should. More importantly, though,
this film left everyone wondering how in the world this man literally rolled with the punches and

The Bass Player s Role
In a band context, every member of the band has a different role. It is the vocalist s job to deliver
the lyrics to the audience, it is the drummer who conveys the rhythm, and it is the lead guitarist
who gets all the chicks. What does the bass player do? What is the Bass Player s Role? The role
of the bass player is determined based on the type of band that you are in. Depending on who
else is playing, their skill level, and what type of music you are playing, the bass player s role
can change dramatically. Take, for example, the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their bass player, Flea,
is a dominant part of the band. His line is often the most recognizable part of a song, and he
drives the rhythm and melody. His role is to help lead the band. In contrast, look at the bass
player for the backup band for Jessica Simpson, or Britney Spears. Who are they? Nobody
knows, and that is the role of the bass player. You will very rarely hear them deviate from a
backup role, something that is just there to provide some low end to the overall mix. So what
role do you play in a band? For most bass players, it is going to be a mix between leading and
supporting. Most of the time, you are going to be playing a supporting role, as that is typically
the stereotypical role of the bass player. It is your job to support the other members of the band so
that they can sound even better. How do you do that? The bass player supports the band by not

Burning American Flag Persuasive Essay
Whether someone is watching the news or simply flipping through their social media pages, one
thing they will certainly see is protesting of some kind. Recently, the first thing that these protestors
want to do it set fire to the American flag. Why would they do this? Why would they burn a
symbol of the freedom they are using to demonstrate their frustrations? Burning the American flag
is wrong not only legally but also ethically and therefore should not be protected under freedom of
speech. When asked why, most protestors who want to burn the American flag respond with an
answer such as it s our first amendment right. Even though the U. S. Supreme court ruled that
burning the American flag is protected under the first amendment right to freedom of expression,
the reality is that it is against the law to desecrate the American flag. According to 18 U.S. Code
В§ 700 Whoever knowingly mutilates, defaces, physically defiles, burns, maintains on the floor or
ground, or tramples upon any flag of the United States shall be fined under this title or imprisoned
for not more than one year, or both. This clearly shows that the legislative branch saw that is was
wrong to burn the American flag.

Huntington Disease Research Paper
Most of the carriers of Huntington disease are usually childhood victims (Donaldson, Marsden,
Schneider, Bhatia, 2012). From this point of view, an increase in the length of the CAG section
causes the production of an abnormal form of the Huntington protein (Donaldson, Marsden,
Schneider, Bhatia, 2012). The lengthened defective protein is then cut into smaller and defective
fragments that bind neurons together, which in turn disrupts their required functions of the brain.
The abnormal functioning leads to eventual death of the neurons in some regions within the brain,
which in turn leads to the symptoms of Huntington disease(Marks Neill, 2007).
Inheritance
Huntington disease is featured by an autosomal inheritance that is dominant,

U.s. R And D Industrial Policy
U.S. R D Industrial Policy While the United States touts free market policies as main guiding
principles, U.S. policy makers have actively used research and development (R D) industrial
policies to maintain and grow the U.S. economy. There are two types of R D, also known as
research and experimentation (R E), funding models; one is direct federal research dollars given to
industry, typically for basic research, and the other in the use of taxcredits for R D activities. Tax
credit policies began in 1981 as part of the Economic Recovery Tax Act (Talley, 2011). The U.S.
has long funded R D, however this funding has steadily decreased with the total in 1976 of just
over 1.2% of GDP with dropping below .8% of GDP in 2014 (AAAS, 2014a). As of 2013, South
Korea, Finland, Japan, Taiwan, and Germany all outspend the U.S. on direct R D funding relative
to GDP (AAAS, 2014b). The IMF and OECD indicate that R D tax credits are a main growth
strategy for the G 20 nations (IMF, 2014). This research topics explores how the United States
domestic industrial policies supporting research and development influence business and
entrepreneurial behaviors within the U.S., which industries has this benefited the most, overall
societal impacts of advancements in technology and automation, and finally how this supports
comparative advantage for the United States as well as implications for developing nations. The
U.S. Congress has funded the R D tax credit on a continual

Cherokee Nation And Native American Tribes
A kind of American jeep called Cherokee, which is the source for the brave Cherokee. Cherokee is
one of the most gallant tribe in native American tribes, and they are never afraid of the unknown
challenge. Courage and confidence make them achieve a good development in contemporary
society. Today the CherokeeNation has become an active leader in so many parts of social
production, such as education, housing, clothing, economic development ,and so on. According to
the demographic census in 2000, Cherokee is approved by the US federal the indigenous people of
the largest one.
First of all, I want to talk about development of education in Cherokee Nation. Because of the
revitalization of the Cherokee Nation, an increase number Cherokee people begin to pay
attention to education, and there is a rapid development in the area of education in Cherokee
Nation. According to the Robert J. Conley s article Cherokees, the Cherokee Nation has
established a complete education system for many people at different age. For example, the
Cherokee Nation would establish pre school for some children at age three to help these children
prepare to enter the first grade, and they would also establish some higher education program to
make Cherokee people enter some colleges (2015). As far as I am concerned, this kind of
education system can assist Cherokee Children more effectively adapt school life and make adult
Cherokees acquire some professional knowledge and improve their abilities. Durbin

Narrative Essay About Skiing
I open my eyes, and I stare at my clock and let myself wake up from the drowsiness that feels like it
s consuming me. My eyes focus and read the clock, it around 7:00, so I crawl out of bed and slowly
get dressed. It s not a school day, and my muscles relax as soon as I realize that. I drag myself
downstairs and feel my body function return as the sleepiness withdraws. I start my day off by
logging on to the computer and seeing what s new on youtube. Then my dad comes into the room
I was in and said Hey bud, we will be going to the skipark today . I feel a shock as I remember dad
saying something about it yesterday. I have mixed feelings about skiing, but I haven t tried it in a
gargantuan amount of time, I could barely remember the last... Show more content on

I mentally started to freak out, and i looked for an exit route, there was only one other one besides
going down the hill: this hill was connected to the smaller hill. I told my dad I m going to go to
the other hill. He gave me a stern look, and he went down the hill alone. I noticed i might crash if
I sled down to the slope shortcut to the other hill, so I took off the base of my skis and left the
boot attachments on my boots. One small step at a time, I slowly climbed down the shortcut. It
was so irritating and annoying I wondered if this was the best alternative rather than risking it
and going down the hill. When I finally got down the hill I thoroughly decided to stick with that
one hill. So I kept on enjoying the fast but not fastest speed. Lunch came and I went inside the
center and got a bite to eat. Isaac got pizza, and I got some aswell. The pizza didn t taste that
good, and I could tell it was very cheaply made, and I questioned why one slice was SO expensive.
After we ate lunch and became reorganized, I went back to the hills and went down them a few
more times. But then, the accident happened. As I was being hoisted up by the pulley machine
everything seemed normal, but when i got to the top of the hill, I noticed I was slipping as I let
go of the pulley. I tried to keep my balance, but that only made it worse, the base of my skis
interlocked. The head of one ski clasped onto the back of my other ski, twisting my foot
backwards in a frightening and unnatural position. The pain was immense and very sharp. I
quickly looked at what caused the pain and I saw it. I panicked, and because of the intense pain,
I screamed for my dad, who was a couple feet away from me, saw what was wrong, because I
usually don t scream in pain like that. In a few seconds, he saw the problem and rush to unlock the
base of my skis. He struggles with but eventually unlocks it, and he

Asean Concord 1 Summary
ASEAN Leaders also signed the Declaration of the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC). The
declaration called on concerned parties to resolve sovereignty and jurisdiction issues in the South
China Sea through peaceful means, and urged them to explore cooperation in such areas as safety
of maritime navigation and communication, protection against pollution at the marine environment,
efforts to combat piracy and campaign against illegal drug trafficking.

The EAS brought together the ten ASEAN Leaders and their counterparts from Australia, China,
India, Japan, Korea, and New Zealand to discuss crucial strategic, political and economic issues. On
the other hand, China, Japan and Korea joined their ASEAN colleagues in the APT.
In 20017 2008, the world suffers one of the most disastrous global economic crises in history.
ASEAN, reeling from the financial crisis, suffered a little over a decade ago, did not escape this
global phenomenon. Bolstered by numerous agreements such as the Vientiane Action Programme
(VAP) in 2004, to further liberalize trade of goods and services, as well as the Enhanced Dispute
Settlement Mechanism, which provide a mutually accepted framework among member states to
maintain compliance in trade agreements, these efforts did not insulate the group from the global
financial crisis. In spite of the ASEAN s effort to ward off the effects of the crisis, ASEAN s
important economic endeavors were shortfalls due to their delayed implementation largely because
of the flexibility and consensus principles.
And in the wake of the global financial turmoil, the ASEAN member countries took the form of
significant monetary and fiscal stimulus to help the suffering businessmen affected by the crisis. In
Singapore, the government implemented the $20.5 billion Resilience Package to assist badly
damaged companies to stay afloat. In Malaysia, a RM700 million

Ethical Dilemmas And The Ethical Dilemma
Ethical dilemmas occur when there is a disagreement about a situation and all parties involved
question how they should behave based on their individual ethical morals. (Newman Pollnitz,
2005). The dilemma that I will be addressing in this essay involves Michael, recently employed
male educator working in the nursery, and parents of a baby enrolled at the centre. The parents
have raised concerns about male educators changing their child s nappy as they have cultural
practices that do not allow this practice to take place. This situation is classed as an ethical
dilemma as there is a dispute between cultural beliefs and legal requirements within the workplace.
There are four parties involved (parents, child, educator and director), all... Show more content on

This will allow the parents and child to feel a sense of belonging in the child care centre. Element
6.1, quality area 6 of the National Quality Standards (NQS) outlines the importance of relationships
in regard to the parents, their child/children and educators. (Australian Children s Education Care
Quality Authority [ACECQA], n.d.). Michael has considered the families cultural beliefs and has
decided to remain respectful of their request, but is concerned about his rights concerning gender
discrimination (Australian Human Rights Commission, n.d.). Michael has a right to retain his
position in the nursery room regardless of the issue with nappy changes for this one child. To
allow for minimal disruption and any further consequences, the situation is to be kept confidential.
This is a short term resolution. The situation should be monitored and there may be long term
issues if the parents fail to form a relationship with Michael. Therefore, this may result in Michael
requesting a change of room in the future (Ethical group discussion, 2017). The resolution was
reached through exploring the steps involved in the ERC. As a group, (each group member
representing a person in the dilemma) we examined eight steps in the ERC. Throughout each
phase, the child s primary best interests were considered by all parties. As the director progressed
through the ERC, it became clear that both the parents and Michael have legal rights that need to
be addressed.

Unlike Many Poets Around The World, Gerard Manley Hopkins
Unlike many poets around the world, Gerard Manley Hopkins follows a very unique style of
poetry. Instead of using the same old style of writing that every poet uses, Gerard created his own
way to express his thoughts and feelings. Using a unique method, Gerard could write poems that
became extremely popular starting in the late nineteenth century. In Gerard s The Windhover, he
uses various symbols, rhetorical devices, and strategies to help support his thoughts and to help
strengthen his argument that something like a bird, that one sees every day, could be totally, mind
blowingly amazing if looked at the correct way. Throughout the poem, Hopkins is describing a
certain animal, the windhover. The windhover is a bird with this... Show more content on

Buckle is the verb in the previous sentence, which is either a fastening such as of a belt, or when
something collapses all at once, such as the buckling of the knees. In either definition, a
unification takes place. With this unification, a fire occurs, which is like the crucifixion of
Christ, though not as grave. Along with the beautiful descriptions Hopkins illustrates this poem
with is the structure of the poem itself. First, this poem is identified as a Petrarchan sonnet,
where the fourteen lines are split into an octet with eight lines and a sestet with six lines. These
types of sonnets are usually structured with the octet presenting some sort of problem and the
sestet offering a solution to that problem. The rhyme scheme of a Petrarchan sonnet rhymes:
ABBA ABBA CDE CDE. However, Hopkins decided to use the pattern CDC CDC instead of
CDE CDE. Starting at the beginning of the poem and looking at the end of each line, all the A s
are king, wing, swing, and thing. All the B s are riding, striding, gliding, and hiding. Hopkins
uses the word kingdom in the first line but then spreads the second part of the word to the second
line to create king rhyming with A s scheme. If looked at closer, the B rhymes almost rhyme with
the A rhymes, however, all the B sounds end in ing. This use of ing with the B rhymes help
identify that the bird is in the air right now. In the sestet, the rhyme scheme is easier to

The important facts regarding Ron D. Meyer versus Race City Classics, LLC are as follows: Mr.
Meyer a lover of classic cars came across a 1970 Ford Mustang on the classic cars website being
sold by Race City Classics, LLC, a North Carolina based company. Mr. Meyer initiated contact
with Mr. Thomas D. Alphin, one of the owners in order to purchase this classic car. All
transactional discussions were made by email or telephone. A price of $21,000 was agreed
upon, in addition to the shared expense of having the vehicle shipped to Nebraska, which is Mr.
Meyer s state of residence. Mr. Meyer purchased this vehicle solely to enter it into car shows.
Funds were wired to Race City Classics, LLC and the vehicle was delivered. Upon receipt of the
vehicle, Mr. Meyer found the vehicle to have paint damages in several areas of the car, along
with the hood being misaligned, the trunk unable to open, and the vehicle unable to crank. Mr.
Meyer requested a full refund of the purchase price and when Mr. Alphin refused, he filed a
claim in district court in Nebraska. Mr. Alphin was served notice to appear in court and he
refused; therefore, the Nebraska court entered a default judgment for the amount of $8.942.30
against Mr. Alphin, defendant for Race City Classics, LLC. The amount awarded was for the
necessary cost of repair alleged by Mr. Meyer, plaintiff. Mr. Meyer then filed a Docketing of

company. He feels like since 70,000 employees work at the company and he will not have the
chance to interact with all of them, he says that every person at the meeting should share what was
discussed to 20 or more employees so everyone can feel part of the company. Constructive
confrontation is key and very important to him he wants employees to have that; people should
have the ability to speak up, and he believes that leadership can be taught. Even though American
Express does not have formal leadership training, Chenault hopes to teach people, by people

How To Write A Sam Yang Essay
Overview
Hunting big game is a thrilling sport. It requires a lot of skill, guts, and of course, the right gun.
For this challenge you need an extremely high powered, big bore air rifle to do the job in a
successful and humane manner. You need an air rifle that can fire heavy pellets with enough
velocity to take down big game like wolves, deer, mountain lions, or wild boars. However, most
big bore air rifles today require you to be extremely close to the animal so you don t have much
room to miss, making it more difficult to hunt. This also causes the animal to feel a lot of
unnecessary pain. This is why it is extremely important to use an air gun that has enough power
and big enough caliber to bring down big game in one single shot.
The Sam Yang Big Bore 909S is a PCP air riflethat has the authoritative knock down power that

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Optometrists
Doctors of Optometry or Optometrists are people who provide us with vision care. Optometrists
diagnose eye problems like nearsightedness, astigmatism and farsightedness. They test the depth,
color and perception of the eyes and they evaluate the capability to focus and synchronize the
eyes. It is also important to choose these professionals carefully since the wide range of services
they provide is of a critical nature. Optometrists not only provide vision care. They may test for
glaucoma and other eye diseases. They are instrumental in detecting systemic conditions like
diabetes and high blood pressure, which affect the vision of patients. Optometrists refer patients to
ophthalmologists or other doctors if needed. Optometrists prescribe medications in case of vision
problems. Sometimes, optometrists even provide post operative care to patients who have had
corrective surgery or cataract operations. Thus, patients who need to approach the optometrists for
eyewear or vision problems must research the reputation and expertise of the practitioner to enjoy
quality care. Although optometrists specialize in primary eye care, some of them also specialize in

Essay on The Water Shortage in Australia
The Water Shortage in Australia First of all it is necessary to define what the term water shortage
means. For some people, it means having to constantly traverse long distances just to reach a

water only for a part of day. And finally, there are some regions in which people suffer from
droughts that lead to a great amount of deaths. Therefore, in modern world problem with deficiency

In support of this data she says that our society is moving rapidly into urban areas, and, as a
result, we re experiencing more and more water shortage problems . (Clarke, 2013) As already
mentioned, another problem, which has considerable influence on this situation, is climate
change. It is generally known, that climate is closely related with local rainfall and water
availability. Peter Rogers claims that surveys, which investigate the effects of climate change
on water availability by 2025 display that it will bring scarcity to loads of places. It is expected
that climate change will exacerbate aridity and reduce supply in many regions, which lead to
droughts. (Rogers, 2008) It came to the Mighty Murray , one of the Australia s major river, is
on the verge of collapse: in some places, children can jump over it. (Water Use, 2011) One more
reason for existing situation is irrational waste of water. If we want to find an adequate solution to
this problem, we must try to define how much freshwater each person requires and what factors
impede supply and increase demand. Malin Falkenmark estimates that each person in the world
needs approximately 1,000 cubic meters of freshwater per year. This number includes water for
drinking, growing food, hygiene and sanitation (Rogers, 2008). One of the possible solutions

  • 2. Why Golf Is Important What does golf mean to the United States of America? People say football is America s favorite sport to watch. How many people actually get to play football after their high school or country. Anyone can play from the time you can walk until you can t walk anymore. In this paper I college days? Not many that is the reason why I think golfis the most important sport in this am going to prove to you how important golf is in our country and data showing you how many people play and their stats. In the last twelve months America has had over twenty four million golfers. This does not include how many times multiple people played countless rounds on the same course. It has taken a drop since 2005 when Tiger Woods was at his peak and golf was on the rise. In 2005 there was almost twenty six million golfers playing in the US. Now with the big four in golf with Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, Jason Day, and Rickie Fowler playing golf is on the rise and you are supposed to see a rise in younger players coming out to play. We have not seen anything... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When they go to war and are away from normal life for so long they develop a disease call PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). When veterans are looking for a cure for something like this doctors often refer to golf to help them cope with their problems. They get a sense of relief when they are out on the range hitting balls or they are with their friends playing on the course. In the US their are organizations call Wounded Warrior project where they host tournaments around the country to help veterans who need help. There are also organizations such as Fairways for Warriors which bring veterans out with their families to take lessons and take away from their problems. They go out and get lessons from local PGA pros and other volunteers. This is one thing that is on the rise in the United States and I think will be a huge asset to the growth of the ... • 3. EBP Research Essay While many studies have examined the attitudes and barriers in implementing evidence based practice (EBP), not many have examined which variables lead to increased practice, knowledge, and attitudes. In a study described in the article Use, Knowledge, and Attitudes Toward Evidence Based Practice Among Nursing Staff, by White Williams et al. in 2013, these aspects were examined at a large Magnet hospital. A questionnaire divided among three subscales (use, knowledge, and attitudes) was used as the method. The results of this study demonstrated how these aspects of EBP were positively impacted by several variables among the staff and how awareness of EBP and implementation of educational programs is necessary in the hospital s culture. These results can be used by hospitals to look at ways to improve evidence based practices in the clinical setting. The study done by White Williams et al. (2013) recognized how certain variables among the nursing staff affected their use, knowledge, and attitudes of EBP. These variables were correlated with a higher overall score on the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (2013) also examined if education, whether it was hands on workshops, research days, classes, etc., had an impact on the use, knowledge, and attitudes of EBP among nursing staff. The overall total score was greater for those that had some type of EBP education. Specifically, there was a significantly increased total score in half (12/24) of the questions among those who had been previously educated compared to those who had not been. Because those who had been educated about EBP had overall significantly higher scores on the attitudes subscale, it shows the importance of targeting attitude toward the use of EBP in changing behavior. Also, the more educated staff found EBP fundamental to their practice. Gaining knowledge is crucial in understanding the importance of the implementation of EBP. Knowledge is the second step in implementing EBP into the clinical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Distracted Driving and Cell Phones Today, one of the major sources of automobile accidents is distracted driving due to cell phone use. Driver distraction can be defined as the diversion of attention away from activities critical for the safe driving toward a competing activity (Young 3). The dangers of driving while using a cell phone cannot be overstated, but drivers still use their cell phones even though they are illegal. According to a survey, About 2 out of 10 (18%) report that they have sent text messages or emails while driving; about half (49%) of those 21 to 24 year olds report doing so (NHTSA). This indicates that millions of people use their cell phones while driving everyday, and with the increased availability and affordability of cell phones, the risk can only increase. In this paper the topics that will be discussed in regard to cell phone use while driving include the brief history of the cell phone, talking while driving, texting while driving, the part of the community most affected by using cell phones, alternatives to reduce incidents, the laws that have been enacted, and the organizations that endorse no texting while driving. In a time when rapid access to information is valuable, cell phones have bridged the gap between the information and the user. The cell phone came into existence when Martin Cooper, at Motorola, developed the first portable handheld radio for the Chicago police department. The first cell phone, Motorola DynaTac, was over 2.5 pounds and could be only used to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Theme Of Order In The Canterbury Tales Marissa Diaz Professor Hadorn British Literature 26 October 2017 Order Presented Through Chaucer I think that people are most comfortable when the world is orderly. I think there s the sense that when you begin questioning basic distinctions, such as the distinction between being male and being female, it represents a threat to the social order. Andrew Solomon. When it comes to order Geoffrey Chaucer has an interesting way of portraying the essence of order throughout The Canterbury Tales. His characters seem to follow the social order at first glance, but as we look further into the tales we see just how out of line these characters are. Even the character that is Chaucer is blind to the twistedness of his fellow passengers. Chaucer only sees the good in his travel companions, not the hidden upheaval of the social order that was so strictly in place. Through discussion it was said how the social class was the foundation of everyday life during the Middle Ages. The idea of Social class was a huge part in determining the role one would hold in the lives of medieval people. When a person of the times would look at the aristocracy class and compare those people to the less than desirable lower class, the two were habitually regarded by society as virtually different races. In The Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer is able to show the wide variety among the classes all intermingling on this voyage. Chaucer is able to catch the subtle differences in almost every aspect of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout reading two similar speeches, they had one specific thing in common. Making their outline plan clear as possible to the American citizens for the next four years they will be in office. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God s work must truly be our own (Kennedy 28). • 7. Catcher In The Rye Vs. Don Quixote Essay J.D. Salinger s TheCatcher in the Rye can be compared to Cervantes Don Quixote. Both novels feature naive protagonists pining for an ideal world. In Salinger s novel, Holden Caulfield is a sixteen year old who experiences challenging and questionable events in the mid stage of his adolescence. Holden wants to protect the innocent children like the catcher in the rye from the immorality and corruptness of the phony adult world. In Cervantes work, Don Quixoteis the idealistic protagonist who sets out to transform the world in accordance to his medieval vision. His growing obsession with stories of knighthood and books of chivalry leads him to abandon his former life and become a wandering knight set out to right the world s wrongs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Holden was walking up the stairs he sees fuck you written on the wall and rubs it off with his hand. Then, later as he is going down a different staircase he sees the same phrase on the wall, but this time scratched in with a knife so he can t efface it. At that moment, he thought that there would be millions of signs just like that one in the world. There was no way he could eradicate all of them. Even in the peace of the Egyptian tomb room at the museum there is a fuck you written in crayon. At this point, he is hopeless and realizes that his dreams are unattainable. In the carousel scene with Phoebe Holden reluctantly accepts the fact that everyone loses his or her innocence. While on the carousel, Phoebe joins the other kids in trying to grab for the gold rings. Although Holden is afraid that she will fall off the horse, he realizes that he can t stop her. He states, The thing is with kids is; if they want to grab for the gold ring, you have to let them do it and not say anything. If they fall off, they fall off, but it s bad if you say anything to them. Similarly, Cervantes Don Quixote portrays an idealistic protagonist who sets out to transform the world in accordance to his medieval vision. The novel opens by briefly describing the main character s fascination with chivralic stories. He dreams for the way things were in the times of knights and the code of chivalry. • 8. Touch Reaction Times Visual, Auditory and Touch Reaction Times Nick Marshall, Jack Wilson, Angus Newman: 8F 4 /6/2018 Introduction: The purpose of this investigation is to examine the differences in reaction times when using different stimuli. This investigation relates to the nervous and brain systems in the human body. When your senses pick up clues from the outside world it takes a small amount of time for you to recognize the signal and respond. (Yuhas, 2018) Reaction time is the measure of speed from which your brain recognises a stimulus, to the reaction, possibly movement. The process of reacting is carried out by many neurons as well as numerous systems and circuits in the brain. (Yuhas, 2018). There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Previous studies produced results that show that touch is the fastest, then auditory and finally visual with the averagely slowest reaction time. This data suggests that visual stimuli cause the fastest reaction, followed by auditory, and finally touch. The average in time for visual stimuli was 0.170 seconds. Previous results have evidenced that visual stimulus is the slowest, with an average time of 0.25 seconds. This experiment contradicts these results. The second fastest reaction time was caused by an auditory stimulus. This produced an average reading of 0.176 seconds. This is similar to previous results. However, there is a small discrepancy of 0.006 seconds between the previous results and the results of this test. Finally, touch stimulus was the slowest in this experiment. This contradicts previous results. In other tests the touch stimulus was the fastest at 0.15 seconds, whereas in this experiment it was the slowest: 0.193 seconds. When gravity pulled the rulers to the mass of the earth, it took time for the subject to recognise the movement and to react to it. These results contradict previous experiments. The brain signals were processed on average more slowly than in previous experiments. However, this experiment could have been unfair and biased. When the auditory and touch tests were carried out, there was most likely a small amount of time between the call or touch and the ruler being dropped. Also, test subjects were changed throughout the experiment. This would have caused a discrepancy in the results, because different subjects may have had different personal reaction times due to several factors. Also, the age could have had an effect. In this experiment we used 13 year old test subjects. It is unknown of the age of the previous experiments. This experiment could have been improved by conducting more tests over a range of people to calculate a more global and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Read [1 3] and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory_of_solar_cells ; The voltage generated by single PV cell is low so we connect single PV cells in series when we need high voltage and in parallel when we need high current and thus we can get the high power or desired output. We generally use a series connection and this arrangement is called as Photovoltaic module or PV module. PV module generally consists of front side, back side and encapsulated PV cell. The front side of the material is made up of tempered glass and low iron. Efficiency is less in PV module because some of the radiation is reflected by glass cover. Firewalls And Infrastructure Security Firewalls and Infrastructure Security A firewall is a network device, hardware, software, or a combination of the two, whose purpose is to enforce a security policy across its connections. It is comparable to a wall that has a window where the wall serves to keep things out, except those permitted through the window. A security policy acts like the glass in the window; it permits some things to pass, light, while blocking others, air. The heart of a firewall is the security policy that it enforces. Security policies are a series of rules that define what traffic is permissible and what traffic is to be blocked or denied. Advanced firewalls employ stateful packet filtering to prevent several types of undesired communications. Should a packet come from outside the network, in an attempt to pretend that it is a response to a message from inside the network, the firewall will have no record of it s being requested and can discard it, blocking access. As many communications will be transferred to high ports, above 1023, stateful inspection will enable the system to determine which sets of high communications are permissible and which should be blocked. The disadvantage to stateful inspection is that it takes significant resources and processing to do this type of inspection and this reduces efficiency and requires more robust and expensive hardware. This type of inspection is essential in today s comprehensive networks. As they are in routers, switches, servers, and other network devices, Access control lists are a cornerstone of security in firewalls. Just as you must protect the device from physical access, Access control lists do the same task for electronic access. Firewalls can extend the concept of Access control lists by enforcing them as well at a packet level when packet level stateful filtering is performed. This can add an extra layer of protection, making it more difficult for an outside attacker to breach a firewall. Some high security firewalls also employ application layer proxies. As the name ... There are many theories that have been proposed explain why racial disproportionality and disparity exists in child welfare. It has been recognized the underlying roots of racial disproportionality and disparity are complex and often coexists. Racial disproportionate in child welfare will be the focus of this research. I will focus on is Racial Bias and Discrimination of child welfare agencies, particularly the child protective services. The literature suggest the one of the reason for over representation of minority(colored) children in child welfare results from the different treatment of race or racial bias (attitudinal dimension) an discrimination (behavioral dimension) (mortion, 1999; Roberts, 2002). This theory also suggests, this treatment can be external or internal in the welfare system; however I will focus only on the implication of internal welfare agencies (i.e. child protective specialist). Child protective specialists culture and policies may lead to inequitable treatment of families of color. CPS workers may have biases towards families of color which could affect the decision making at any point of the investigation. This may not have occurred intentionally by the worker however due to institutional racism which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Gender Roles A Self Fulling Prophecy Essay This cycle can negatively impact the author s life and the reader s life, whether they know it or not, because as they read or write harmfully gendered relationships, they subconsciously affirm the truths portrayed in the fiction and spread these beliefs to other readers. In other words, damaging genderroles appear right and natural, because they are so often depicted in the media as right and natural, with relationships healthy based on equality being rarely offered as the alternative. This makes heteronomrative gender roles a self fulling prophecy with people performing these stereotypes, because they are presented as the norm. If feminized male characters serve as the stand in for the female reader, then fanfictions that depicts the feminine as mentally and physically less able than the masculine must contribute to this vicious cycle as well. In addition, the masculine gender roleoften exemplifies the type of behavior considered natural for men. In American culture, part of this natural masculine gender role assumes that men will be complicit ,if not actively participating, in patriarchal culture and the poisonous values often associated with it. The traditional masculine model is made to seem so right that men portraying this gender role, and the women reading about this gender role, are made to believe that the domination and exploitation of women, and even other men, is not just expected, but demanded (Carter 2011). It will be difficult for a group with this type of leader to stay on task, especially when the group comes across a problem or conflict. The leader will not step up and take action, and the group members might not be capable of getting through this obstacle. Right in the middle of the authoritarian and laissez faire leaders is the democratic leader. The climate provided by a democratic leader will be more desirable compared to those of the other two styles of leadership. Allowing the group to reach a consensus rather than a leader making all of the decisions, will give the members of the group a sense of belonging. 3. Dear Coworker, In order to create an effective agenda you should gather all of you information before anything else. Once you know everything you would like to incorporate into your meeting it will be easier to categorizing the information into sections for your agenda. The first step to building an effective agenda is to start with your meeting goals. Placing the goals at the top of your agenda will allow the members to keep the primary issues in mind throughout the meeting. Stronger and more developed countries frequently attempt to grow their empires through means of colonization or imperialism which leave long lasting effects on nations and generations to come. The two nations that I have chosen to compare and contrast with regards to independence movements are Moroccoand Brazil. Each country experienced pros and cons during the time they were under the control of different nations and each was able to establish independence after growing pains and frustrations occurred. Analysis Although both countries, Morocco and Brazil, were products of European imperialism, they each encountered very different experiences. Morocco was a French protectorate between the years of 1912 and 1955. When nearby countries experienced economic weakness and crises, they succumbed to rule by the British, Turkish or French. Morocco was able to avoid exterior control until rivalries between European nations started increasing until inevitably, France stepped in. Morocco had previously been independent for over 1,000 years and had openly accepted influences from Muslin Iberia as well as the Ottoman Empire. France had expressed interest in Morocco as early as 1830 as the country was deemed advantageous geographically, and Portugal was gaining protectorates and control of the Atlantic coast of Africa. The various types of criminal activities have developed to become more than a single problem to nearly all criminal justice systems across the globe. The main reason for the divergent classification of criminal activities is because they occur in different settings and are conducted for different motives. The major types of crimes across the globe are drug, street, organized, political, victimless, and white collar crimes. Street crimes and drug crime problems have developed to become the two leading problems for many law enforcement agencies. It is the vocalist s job to deliver the lyrics to the audience, it is the drummer who conveys the rhythm, and it is the lead guitarist who gets all the chicks. What does the bass player do? What is the Bass Player s Role? The role of the bass player is determined based on the type of band that you are in. Depending on who else is playing, their skill level, and what type of music you are playing, the bass player s role can change dramatically. Take, for example, the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their bass player, Flea, is a dominant part of the band. His line is often the most recognizable part of a song, and he drives the rhythm and melody. His role is to help lead the band. In contrast, look at the bass player for the backup band for Jessica Simpson, or Britney Spears. Who are they? Nobody knows, and that is the role of the bass player. You will very rarely hear them deviate from a backup role, something that is just there to provide some low end to the overall mix. So what role do you play in a band? For most bass players, it is going to be a mix between leading and supporting. Most of the time, you are going to be playing a supporting role, as that is typically the stereotypical role of the bass player. It is your job to support the other members of the band so that they can sound even better. How do you do that? The bass player supports the band by not getting in the way of what others are playing, while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Recently, the first thing that these protestors want to do it set fire to the American flag. Why would they do this? Why would they burn a symbol of the freedom they are using to demonstrate their frustrations? Burning the American flag is wrong not only legally but also ethically and therefore should not be protected under freedom of speech. When asked why, most protestors who want to burn the American flag respond with an answer such as it s our first amendment right. Even though the U. S. Supreme court ruled that burning the American flag is protected under the first amendment right to freedom of expression, the reality is that it is against the law to desecrate the American flag. Hopkins uses the word kingdom in the first line but then spreads the second part of the word to the second line to create king rhyming with A s scheme. If looked at closer, the B rhymes almost rhyme with the A rhymes, however, all the B sounds end in ing. This use of ing with the B rhymes help identify that the bird is in the air right now.
