Research Methodology For A Researcher
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY Research methodology involves the design which a researcher ought
to use to study a topic of interest. It therefore involves the procedure by which researchers undertake
their work and the framework within which is conducted (Rajasekar et al., 2013; Remenyi et al.,
1998). Research Methodology aids research planning, if properly design it will enable a researcher to
arrive at results or findings and tools that can either be used to disprove or approve such knowledge.
(Nachamias et al., 1996; Saunders et al.,2003). This chapter outlines data collection procedure as well
as how data is analyse for this study. These involve choice of the sampling frame, sampling
techniques, how interviews were designed and conducted as well as questionnaire administration, time
horizon, transcription of interviews and analysis of responses, ethical concerns and limitations of the
methods. Qualitative Research Methods Qualitative research method was chosen for this study. It
involves an interpretative inquiry and a naturalistic approach to an area of study (Denzin, Lincoln,
2005; Qazi, 2011). Researchers therefore make an interpretation of what they observe, hear, and
understand (Creswell 2003). Qualitative research method was suitable and adopted to deal with the
study objectives since the research was more naturalistic, participant driven and comprehensive
(Ciceu, 2015) as well as inquiring. Methods of Data Collection For the purpose of this research survey

Essay Harry S. Truman
Harry S. Truman was the 33rd President of the United States. Born on May 8, 1884, in Lamar,
Missouri, he was the oldest of three children. Truman had no middle name. His parents apparently
gave him the middle initial S to appease two family relatives.
At age six, his family moved to Independence, Missouri, where he attended Sunday school. There he
met five year old Elizabeth Wallace, with whom he later fell in love with. Beginning school at age
eight, Truman modeled thick glasses to correct his poor eyesight. Fortunately, his eyesight did not
seriously interfere with his two favorite pastimes, music and reading. He woke up early everyday to
practice the piano and visited a music teacher twice a week, until ... Show more content on

In April of 1919, Truman returned home, now as a major. On June 28th of the same year, he married
Elizabeth Wallace, his Sunday school love.
Truman decided to spark his political career. So he started by entering a four way Democratic primary
for a judgeship, which was essentially a job supervising roads and buildings. His popularity was
expected to increase if he got the support of the Ku Klux Klan, but Truman turned down this idea.
Even so, by campaigning his wartime record and his past history, Truman won the primary of the
election. In January of 1923, he was sworn into his first public office. One year later his only daughter,
Mary Margaret, was born. During his time as a judge, he improved roads and reduced the inherited
debt. By staying interested in the National Guard, he was promoted to colonel.
Next, Truman tested his luck in the Senate. After a long and hard battle, Truman defeated a
Republican opponent with the help of the New Deal. In January of 1935, he was sworn in as a Senator
from Missouri. His arrival in Washington was met with disdain. Colleagues didn t think he was
working for himself, and he was reviewed by White House authorities. Fortunately, by using his
knowledge in history and government, he was finally recognized and appointed to two important
committees.
Finally, the government finished their

Essay On The European Economic Crisis
The background to the World and European economic crisis.
The main cause of the 2008 9 financial crisis was caused by the collapse of the housing bubble within
the USA. But the housing bubble was created many years earlier. The Federal Reserve in the early part
of the 2000 s reduced its interest rates down from 6.5% to 1% within four years. This reduction in
rates was applied due to several events happening in the US economy at that time. Firstly the attacks
on the world trade center and the recession experienced had reduced taxes, which left a huge deficit in
the federal budget as well as the expensive attacks into Iraq Afghanistan. The US was also worried
about deflation due to a decline in asset prices, which was forcing companies to ... Show more content

They claimed that even if the borrower defaulted on the mortgage the value of the house was more
than the debt they owed and no losses would be incurred.
However in 2004, the US federal bank began to increase interest rates in order to combat the rise in
inflation, but this policy created a problem later, which led to house prices falling. Soon many
borrowers realized they had mortgages secured against properties worth more than the value of the
property itself. This led to a lot of borrowers defaulting and foreclosures happening which continued
to drive house prices down and in doing so reduced the capital available to financial institutions such
as banks. Also with the re introduction, by the US government bill not used since 1938 called Mark to
Market Accounting in 2007. This law required all financial institutions to report losses before they
occurred. As a result of the introduction of this Bill it caused financial institutions into having to
drastically reduce their capital available as any surpluses would be needed to cover expected losses
and in doing so led to the collapse of investment banks like Lehmann Bros. Equally large insurance
companies such as AIG were also on the verge of bankruptcy and needed bailouts from public taxes.
The impact upon economies within the Eurozone
The crisis in Europe began when the financial markets lost confidence in the creditworthiness of

Symptoms And Symptoms Of An Anxiety Disorder Essay
If you are human, you have most likely experienced anxiety. You know, that feeling you get in a nerve
wracking situation; such as speaking in front of an audience or having a stressful job. This is a normal
feeling for many but when you are at the constant state of anxiety or have the feeling recur or prolong
for an excessive amount of time, this is when a problem is present. An excessive feeling of worry and
panic is a good sign of an anxiety disorder. An anxiety disorder can be so crippling that physical
symptoms may occur. There many different types of anxiety disorders and many factors that give to
why some are more or less prone to it. These factors that are behind an anxiety disorder are both
environmental and biological. There are many factors that go into why someone might suffer from this
disorder but the main cause behind it differs from patient to patient due to the fact that each patient
varies in severity of the disorder and is affected by it in their own way.
To start off, what is an anxiety disorder? Anxiety disorder is one of the most common mental illness,
affecting 40 million adults in the United States, which is about 18% of the population. Anxiety itself
isn t a bad thing, it s a natural human emotion to stressful or new life experiences and we all feel it
every once in awhile. To a certain extent, anxiety is an important aspect of the human emotions
because it helps us cope with stress or danger by releasing the hormone adrenaline. The hormone

Natural Selection Vs Artificial Selection
The Darwinian view of life came into focus in 1859, when he published one of the most important
books called On the Origin of Species by Mean of Natural Selection . Back in Darwin s time in the
19th century historians were being to think of evolutionary change as an explanation for patterns
observed in the future. He did not invent this idea however he carried out the necessary research to
document the idea. He made this book to make two valid points, descent and modification and process
natural selection . Descent and modification described the evidence and support that he gathered about
species. It is an insightful phrase, as it captures the duality of life s unity (descent) and diversity
(modification). Simon, Eric J., Jane Reece, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Again, natural selection is the process in nature by which organisms better adapted to their
environment tend to survive and reproduce more. A good example would be a tree frog, they are
sometimes eaten by snakes.Gray Tree frogs bend well in the darker wooden areas, as for green Tree
frogs blend better with the greens. If a green tree frog is on a barks its easier for a predator to find than
compared to a green tree frog on a green leaf. Green tree frogs that go into habitats where they are not
camouflaged are most likely going to eaten by they re predators, which in conclusion tree frogs that
have been eaten by they re predators do not have the chance to have more babies. Animals and plants

Comparison of BattleField 4 on Three Gaming Systems
Within this report and analysation of three gaming system can be found; A pre build system, self made
system and a console system and compressing between each of the systems. This system will be of the
High end builds as the game it shall be running up to standard will be BattleField 4 which at the
moment is the highest demanding game in both graphical power and processing power.
By choosing BattleField 4 the hardware used within the systems are of high end range yet to run the
game not all components should be of the most expansive range. There will be a budged set for a full
system which rounds up to £1100 including all accessories such as: Gaming Headset, Mouse,
Keyboard, and Monitor.
To get a realistic over view of what it takes to run BattleField 4 on ultra settings research has been
done in what would be optimal requirements for it.

Essay on Images of Women in Sports
Images of Women in Sports
Over the years the perception of women in sport has changed considerably. In this course we have
viewed several films all dealing with the depiction of female athletes in an attempt to gauge society s
current perception of women in sport. I will briefly summarize each film and the main themes of the
films before providing a description of the female athlete which I will infer from commonalities
between the films.
The first film we watched was a documentary entitled, Dare to Compete; it provided a brief history of
women in film, focusing primarily on American women in sport from the late 19th century to the
present. From this film we gained a notion of where women have been and how far we ve come in the

The third film we watched was, Remember the Titans. Remember the Titans, traces the racial
integration of a Virginian high school football team in the 1960 s as well as the racial integration of
the high school. While this film is about a male football team and women are minor characters within
the film it shows how sport can unite people from different racial and socioeconomic backgrounds
The fourth film we watched was, Girlfight; a film about a Latina who lives in the ghetto and becomes
a boxer. The protagonist s struggle to be taken seriously as a female boxer, to find people who will
train her and compete with her is one of the major themes of this film. However, this film examines
not only the protagonist s role as an athlete, but her home life, love interest and inner turmoil as she
learns to control and focus her aggressive personality.
The fifth and final film we watched was, Love and Basketball, a film that primarily traces the coming
of age of a man and a woman, two childhood friends and basketball fanatics who both pursue
professional careers in basketball while focusing primarily on the female protagonist. The main
conflict in this film had less to do with the female protagonist struggling for approval from her parents
and acceptance by society than any of the other films we ve seen in this class. Instead, it dealt with the
female protagonist s need to evaluate her priorities and decide what she wanted and how to divide

The Pros And Cons Of Decentralization In India
argued that the PRI are unable to function to their potential due to fiscal and administrative autonomy
is minimum under PRI. Prior to the 73rd amendment, there have been attempts at decentralization in
India but have vastly failed in various states due to the vested interests of the bureaucracy and state
politicians. These vested interests of the powerful in state still pose a threat to the decentralized setup
because it establishes dominance of the powerful in state bureaucracy and leads to incidences of
corruption as currently witnessed in India.
THE DEVOLUTION INDEX IN INDIA
The devolution index of the PRI indicates the achievements of states in effective function of the

In this view, poverty reduction, especially in rural areas plays a crucial part. The dimensions of
poverty reduction in terms of decentralization are preconditioned to democratization, higher
sensitivity to local needs and higher community participation. Decentralization in India has the
capacity and worked well in terms of administrative devolution but to reap the full benefits of it, it
needs to be associated with broad based, multidimensional policies with fiscal devolution and higher
participation by the people.
Political participation is an important aspect of freedoms entitled to individuals and should not be
overlooked. Political freedom is one aspect wherein everyone gets a similar chance to voice their
opinions and choices unless the system is weakened by corruption and weak linkages. Eliminating
multilevel inefficiencies like that in bureaucracy and market would certainly lead to better standard of
living for all. Poverty which creates a domino effect on other aspects of life can be drastically reduced
through political empowerment which is provided to the most vulnerable spaces i.e. the rural

The Decreasing Value Of Production
The purpose of this section is to analyze the decreasing value of the production in frequency between
the three types of the bigram syntactic sequences and the three types of the trigram syntactic
sequences in order to test Hypothesis 2 which was proposed for this study. Hypothesis 2 denotes that,
in the learner s corpus, as compared to the reference corpora, the production rate of the articles is
lower in the NPs which have an adjective preceding a noun (Art + Adj + N) than noun phrases which
have no preceding adjective (Art + N),
The procedure of the analysis is to compare per million normalized frequency of the three types of the
bigram syntactic sequences and the three types of the trigram syntactic sequences within the same
group and across different groups. Based on the results of the raw production frequency of the bigram
and trigram syntactic sequences ( the+N , a+N , and an+N vs. a + N , a + Adj + N , and an + Adj + N ),
the raw production counts were normalized per 1,000,000 for inter language comparison between the
learner corpus and the reference corpus. Then, the decreasing values between the bigram syntactic
sequences and the trigram syntactic sequences were assessed calculated by dividing the trigram
sequence production rate in the production rate of the bigram sequence.

Alone On The Yukon Trail
The man in this story has had a long and difficult journey, filled with emotional and physical pain. The
only company he had was a native dog who followed him everywhere he went. The cold air of the
Yukon trail presented a major problem for the man as he fought off frost bite. Throughout the story he
struggled against nature a lot. With ups and downs along the way, the weather was always against him
as he thought of ways to survive. In the end, nature won.
Alone on the Yukon trail, there was a man climbing in negative 50 degree weather. He did not believe
it when they said it would be that cold. As the temperature dropped below 50 degrees, the man
realized it was quite cold. The only thing to keep him warm was fire. He climbs for many hours,
trying to get back to camp and to the boys. However right now he was alone with a dog. The only
reason the dog stuck by him was so the man could make fire. The dog had learned about fire, and it
wanted fire. however the only way it could obtain fire is if the man made it. No matter what happened

temperature of frost was even worse. Everything was covered with multiple inches of snow and most
of the lakes were frozen solid. However not all of the streams were solid. The man almost fell through
several times and the dog did fall through once when it was forced to cross. The man successfully
made a fire to warm them both up. However, when the man fell to his knees in a lake and he tried to

Summary Of Weekly Grocery Trip
I was going to name this post weekly grocery trip, but then I realized that most food itemI buy is from
TJ s, so I reworked it. My obsession with Trader Joe s might seem pretty apparent here by now. A
reader asked me what I buy on a weekly basis at the store, and I thought it would be a good post to
share with you. A little bit more about my grocery shopping habit before we get started.... I like to do a
big trip for the week on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I tend to have more time these days to drive, shop
and unload and I don t like feeling rushed during a trip. I always make a list of all the items I need
before hand, which means I take inventory of our fridge, freezer and pantry. Every couple weeks I like
to mix things up, so I ll dive into my Trader Joe s Cookbook or Cravings Cookbook and pick a new
recipe or 2 to try. Once I m in the store, I like to shop the perimeter of the store first. Fruit, veggies,
meat and all the good food that fuels your body is normally stored here. By grabbing the good stuff
first, when I see the pint of frozen ice cream, and look down to a cart already packed, I am more likely
to opt out. I only eat out 1 4 meals a week, and it is usually lunch or dinner on the weekend, so making
sure I have wholesome food is important for a healthy diet. unnamedAlthough my grocery list changes
each week, these are the items that are staples in my cart. Produce 4 bags of spinach. That is a lot of

AP Vocabulary Word Analysis
Leonardo Da Vinci once said, simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Many times when we write, we
tend to over use fancy words and try too hard to make our writing sound smart. This extra fluff and
weirdly placed buzz words may not quite make sense in the context, but of course, they re AP vocab

most smart sounding way to get your point across is to write it out straight forward and not

definitely guilty of trying too hard to add in extra vocabulary to increase the professional and

indications of both parties having intentions to foray into broader market segments, the competition
between both parties could not be more intense than it is now. Even though it may seem that IMAX is

The company s Return on Assets is worrisome as it shows that it loses money on the assets that it has
invested in. This number may be amplified by the 741% rise in inventory, but there is still a strong
indication that RealD is not using its assets well enough to generate profit. It appears that IMAX is
managing its assets well. This income may however be generated by using the money that it has raised
by borrowing funds. A comparison of both the company s ROE values indicates that IMAX generated
more wealth for its stakeholders. This value however fails to consider the impact that IMAX s debt
may have on its profitability. 2) IMAX s Financial Position Compared to RealD. IMAX s higher
current ratio would indicate that it is in a better position to meet its short term liabilities than RealD,
with RealD being at the shallow end of the liquidity pool. It is however important to note that RealD
has improved its position drastically from a current ratio of 0.7 to that of 1.09. This is mostly due to a
183% increase in the number of RealD screens installed. If this trend continues, the company s
position is likely to improve. It must also be noted that IMAX s current ratio decreased from 4.33 to
0.99. This is due to a 214% increase in bank indebtedness. It is of concern to see that RealD has only

How To Tattoos
After all, pro is short for professional, and there s a lot that goes into being a true professional in the
tattoo industry.
You may have decided you want to learn how to tattoo because you think the work looks interesting
and because you like the atmosphere in the tattoo shop. There is definitely a whole culture, or
subculture, when it comes to tattooing. Much of this comes from the fact that tattooing used to be
considered very subversive. Only the bad boys and bad girls got tattoos. Getting inked was a sign of
rebellion, of not conforming to society s rules.
Many of the people who choose to learn how to tattoo feel like they fit in well within this culture. To

say that it s the only factor, but if you don t learn how to tattoo well, then your chances of becoming a

number of specialized techniques. To get the most out of your tattooing career, you have to really put
yourself into it heart and soul. Study, learn, practice, and work hard.
Protect your reputation. Of course, doing high quality work is going to do a lot to bolster your
reputation. When your clients show off their art, you want their friends and families to say, Wow! I
want that artist to do my next tattoo! In addition to being good at giving tattoos, you also need to make
sure that you teach clients how to take care of their ink. The better they care for their tattoos, the better
those tattoos will look.
Conduct yourself professionally. Yes, tattoo artists are sometimes a little rough around the edges. They
may get away with using a bit of off color language and engaging in some behaviors that we might not
appreciate in our physician, for example. Still, a tattoo professional needs to be just that...a
professional. This means you need to take care of your appearance, keep your workspace in order, and

The Status Of The World s Women
The status of the world s women is not only a matter of morality and justice. It is also a political,
economic, and social imperative. The evidence is irrefutable: when women are free to develop their
talents and contribute fully to their societies, everyone benefits.
Hillary Clinton, 5/12/2010
Women are a large portion of the populace, almost 60% possess professional degrees, make up 47% of
the workforce and represent 53% of voters. Despite the fact that they have broken every barrier many
times over, women occupy only 18% of the top management positions across the world. While the
representation of women in noteworthy positions of political and business sectors has enhanced in
some cases, (20 states have female Senators) the leadership pool is still male dominated. The U.S.
places 80th in the world when it comes to female representation in authoritative positions, just ahead
of countries that are openly criticized for their treatment of women, like Iraq and Afghanistan. As of
2014, only 4.2% of CEO positions and under 17% of board seats are held by ladies among Fortune
500 organizations.

The Interloper Suspense
Literary Analysis Outline I think the authors of the short story The Interloper and the chapter two of
the book Live To Tell make the use of suspense in their stories to have the reader get a good story by
giving him/her a surprising ending in each of the stories which is going to make them read more of
their wonderful great work. Suspense in the story The Interloper makes it have a surprising ending.
There is a part of the story where there are two enemies together in the woods with no one to help
them: And each prayed a private prayer that his men might be the first to arrive (Saki 4). They both
were scared and silently praying for their men to come help them know that they are out in the forest

The story has a part where Victoria has these tranquilizer tablets, she s holding them firmly in her
hand then she says I creep into the hallway of my now silent home, already terrified of what I might
find (Lisa Gardener 18) She is being silently in her own house waiting for a terrifying act from this
person that is trying to kill her. This is suspense because it makes the reader wonder is he going to kill
her? Why does he want to kill her? Why doesn t she call the police? And what mostly the reader
wonders is who is this person that wants to kill her? It just makes the reader want to get to the end and
find out all these questions. At the end of the story he has fallen asleep with these tranquilizer tables
that she has given him and meanwhile she s stroking her fingers along his cheeks and she asks to her
self I wonder if tonight will be the night he will finally kill me. Here is where suspense comes up
again and makes the reader wonder even more who is this person that even though he tried to kill her
she s stroking her fingers along his cheeks? Well this question is answered at the end when The author
finally reveals it to the reader when Victoria says Meet Evan, my son. He is eight years old (Lisa
Gardener 21). Know that gives the reader a surprising ending of the story because who would of
imagined that

Physical Therapy And Chronic Pain
Chronic pain is a huge issue for many people. A lot of people with chronic pain become depressed
because they can t move or do simple tasks without being in a great amount of pain. Chronic pain can
be caused by osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic headaches, rheumatoid arthritis, and neuropathic
pain, which is caused by injury to tissues or nerves. Physical therapy helps chronic pain patients
become stronger, so they re able to move better. Physical therapy can also teach people how to move
safely and function better than they used to with chronic pain. Exercise can involve walking on a
treadmill or swimming in a pool. Physical therapy helps to build strength in the muscles, builds
endurance, stability in the joints, and flexibility in the muscles and joints. Keeping a regular exercise
routine will also help control chronic pain. Regular exercise from physical therapy will help people
maintain the ability to move and function properly, and prevent people from becoming disabled by
their chronic pain. The less a person moves, the more pain a person will experience. The more
physical therapy a person receives, the more they learn to control their pain, the less pain they feel,
and they ll be more able to function in society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a person s injuries keep them from standing or moving around, physical therapy can make it easier
to get around. Hands on treatments and certain exercise can improve joint and muscle mobility, which
will lead to better function. People will be able to do daily activities when they have more mobility,
such as, going to the grocery store, doing household chores, and taking care of their children. Having
improved mobility will also help to prevent further injuries. For example, with people who have
multiple sclerosis, physical therapy can help those with the disease to improve their mobility and keep
their independence as a person, with decreasing some of the more severe effects of the

Hmong Culture Research Paper
This research paper focuses on the identification of Hmong culture, elucidating specific generational
differences in America that are considered the major division of the Hmong community appropriately.
There are a few distinguishing common, yet complex challenges of living between the older and
younger generations. Based on the studies of psychosocial perspectives today s modern Hmong group
and their distinctive views of socialism, activities and everyday life that affect his or her lifestyle. This
essay will cover three important topics: Culture clash between generations of Hmong in America;
How traditional culture is still significant in older generations modern life, and the disagreements they
have to face within their community.

Dependent Personality Disorder ( Dpd )
I. Dependent Personality Disorder:
Dependent Personality Disorder (DPD) according to the The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders (5th ed.; DSM 5; American Psychiatric Association, 2013) is categorized under
cluster C in personality disorders exhibiting traits of anxiety and fearfulness. Criteria specifies that an
individual demonstrates significant deviation in behavior and life experience according to a person s
cultural norms in at least two of the following areas: impulse control, interpersonal functioning,
affectivity, and cognition. Moreover, the disturbance must originate from at least adolescence,

More significantly, eighty one percent of women experiencing multiple abusive relationships
demonstrated PTSD and higher psychopathology compared to women experiencing a single abusive
relationship.
Personality disorder symptoms are higher among violent women and female offenders arrested for
domestic violence continue to rise in number (Goldenson, Geffner, Foster, Clipson, 2007). Male
offenders were found to have history of attachment, trauma, and features of personality disorders.
Bornstein (2012) found negative consequences of dependency in incarcerated men with charges of
child abuse into the following categories: (a) nonsexual offending psychopaths; (b) sexual homicide
perpetrators; and (c) nonviolent pedophiles.
Although many dependent clients prefer to use passive, submissive social strategies, most dependent
clients are capable of using more assertive, outward expressions of anger, and destructive strategies
when key relationships are at risk (Bornstein, 2012). Moreover, DPD has been linked with increased
risk of self harming behaviors such as suicidal gestures causing harm to themselves and others
(Bornstein, 2012). More women made previous suicide attempts than the men, and women were more
likely to have used or to be using psychotropic medication (Goldenson, Geffner,

Similarities Between Zaabalawi And The Alchemist
Naguib Mahfouz s short story Zaabalawi and Paolo Coelho s novel The Alchemist both trace the
encounters of a narrator who embarks on a spiritual journey. The works are strikingly similar in that
they are both are organized as quest narratives, and both are set in the middle east with the same
endgame in mind: enlightenment. As Santiago from The Alchemist and the unnamed narrator from
Zaabalawi travel, they embody the seeker archetype, and from each person they meet, they gain
wisdom and strength. Despite similarities of plot and character, however, the narratives draw different
conclusions. While Coelho s novel stands out as a quasi religious tribute to mental fortitude and
universal oneness, Mahfouz s short story touches on the spiritual ... Show more content on

In both stories, a strongly developed narrator is aided by a notably transient supporting cast. One such
member of Santiago s supporting cast is the King of Salem, who tells Santiago he will help him find
the hidden treasure because Santiago has succeeded in discovering [his] personal legend (21). A whole
cast of characters, from the Englishmen to the Alchemist, go on to advance Santiago s cause in a very
explicit manner. They provide him money, wisdom, or experience. The Alchemist is especially
notable: derived from the books title, his character is sagacious and and possess complete
understanding of the Soul of the World. In the work, the Soul of the World is associated with spiritual
growth; in Mahfouz s story, the idea of Zaabalawi functions similarly. Characters in the latter tale
become progressively more in touch with Zaabalawi, who seems to represent some sort of spiritual
presence. In general, Mahfouz s story is more implicit, but also more structured. The only information
provided about Zaabalawi is that he s a true saint of God, a remover of worries and troubles, but with
each new interaction, the narrator s acquaintances become closer to the presence of Zaabalawi with
each new interaction. This correlation can then be used to infer about the true nature of this spiritual
being. The first character met by the narrator, Seikh Qamar, is cushioned by a layer of luxurious
materialism: in his office, noted are a beautiful woman with...intoxicating perfume, a fine leather
upholstered chair, and a costly carpet, among other things (883). The man is dismissive, cold, and
materialistic: he represents a modern figure distanced from spirituality. The next characters are more

relation to Rauscher et al. and Nantais Schellenberg, the researcher s aim of this experiment is to

Cardiac Arrest Analysis
Approximately three hundred thousand cardiac arrests occur annually in the United States, making it
one of the leading causes of death nationally (1). Pulseless electrical activity (PEA) is one of the most
common forms of cardiac arrest and is generally associated with poor patient outcomes. It has been
widely theorized that a focused cardiac ultrasound exam (FoCUS) can play both a diagnostic and a
prognostic role during PEA cardiac arrest; however, it has not been adequately studied to date. This
paper explores the theory and current evidence supporting the utilization of a FoCUS exam during
cardiac arrest presenting with PEA in order to recognize its potential role in resuscitative guidelines.

China is a vast country, but its long and unique history is inextricably intertwined with the countries
and peoples of its near neighbours in Southeast Asia. China has been successful in relations with
Southeast Asia during the reform era, and success has been due primarily to the quality of diplomatic
leadership. Diplomacy involves more than the tactics and style of pursuing national interests. China s
diplomacy has involved dominant personalities like Deng Xiaoping, who is a leader of the People s
Republic of China from 1978 to the early 1990s. Deng Xiaoping is the paramount leader at the end of
the 1970s. Bill Clinton, former US President said that Mr. Deng s long life spanned a century of

The Decline in Union Membership in Australia Essay
The Decline in Union Membership in Australia TOPIC The major issue today facing the Australian
trade union movement has been the decline in union density. What have been the causes, and how
have the unions responded to the challenge. Figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics
(ABS) in 2000, show that the decline in Australian union membership continues, despite the efforts of
the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU), to stop the slide. The ABS reports that trade union
membership has dropped to 28 percent of the total workforce, compared to 1992, where there was 40
percent. (Australian Bureau of Statistics 2000.) Previous ABS findings show that these recent figures

The most important function of a union is to maximise the wages and salaries of its members (Deery,
Plowman, and Walsh, 2000). Why do employees join unions? There are a number of reasons that an
employee may join a union but three major factors are evident. They are; dissatisfaction with
economic aspects of the job; a desire to influence those aspects of the work environment through
union orientated means; and, a belief that the benefits of unionism outweigh the expected costs (Deery
et al, 2000). With the benefits of the objectives of a union evident, why has Australian unions
witnessed a decline in membership? There are many reasons to suggest a decline in membership, but
three main factors stand out. They are; the changing composition of employment; the casual effects of
the business cycle; and, the introduction of the Accord (Deery et al, 2000). The changing composition
of employment relates to the change in the structure of the workforce. Job growth has become
generally greater in those segments of the labour force with relatively low levels of trade union
membership, and a contraction of employment among the more highly unionised segments of the
labour force (Healey, 1995). Most of the employment growth that occurred in the 80 s and 90 s was
confined to the private sector whose union density was considerably lower to that of the public sector.
In addition to that, the constant decline in the manufacturing industries, where unionisation is high,

The Central Concern Of The National Curriculum
The central concern that this case study seeks to address, is whether or not play should continue to be
influential in the acquisition of language with regards to readiness to learn within the National
curriculum. This emotive subject was found by the researcher to be ever present when providing for
needs of the child with SEN and EAL within year one, finding the restriction to movement and space
detrimental to learning. Roberts Holmes (2012) concurs this highlighting the conflict of interests
between the EYFS and the National Curriculum where play based learning is very much decreased. In
addition Tickell (2011) shares concerns about the disconnect between the EYFS and the National
Curriculum recommending a smoother transition between the two. Brock (2009) confirms this by
speaking of the need for the transition to be more fluent by teacher through a more play based
curriculum. However such planning is found by McInnes et al (2011) to be heavily influenced by the
predisposed understanding and perceptions of the individual teacher. Therefore an analysis of such
thoughts and perceptions towards play within year one, will also be examined/evaluated throughout
the research. The research itself will take place within two schools which have been chosen from
within similar socioeconomic disadvantaged areas of Stoke on Trent (DPH Annual report 2011). The
researcher, due to work constraints, considered it unfeasible to involve all seventy primary schools

Mechanisms of Axon Guidance
Axons are sensitive and their respond depend on the local environment. When the tectum is removed,
retinal axons grow toward the missing tissue, demonstrating that optic axons utilize these
neighbourhood signals as opposed to a long run diffusible attractant from the tectum as they grow
along the optic tract (Taylor, 1990). In the event of a small piece of the optic tract neuroepithelium is
turned 90° preceding the axons enter it, then they become misoriented when they enter the pivoted
transplant (Harris, 1989) and correct their course of growth once they exit. These results confirm that
the neuroepithelium contains local information to which growing axons respond and that they are not
simply following gradients of attractants released by their targets (Sanes et al., 2012). Growth cone
filopodia are long, motile, and covered with receptors, also have a very high surface to volume ratio,
which can help convert membrane signals into large changes in intracellular messengers such as
calcium. Filopodia can show localized transient elevations of intracellular calcium and these transients
reduce filopodial motility (Sanes et al., 2012). Calcium transients can be directly artificially activated
in growth cone filopodia by loading neurons with a calcium caging agent that releases calcium upon
stimulation with a pulse of light (Gomez et al., 2001). Experiments in which calcium is uncaged on
one side of a growth cone generally cause the growth cone to turn toward the side that has

Where/what is the research site? The site for this study will be a local high school with both female
and male learners with Special Education Needs (SEN) and learning disability. The research will
target or focus on one of the schools with a high number of disabled students to ensure the statistics
taken are more conclusive for the study. Together with the school administration, 9 12th grade
teachers, students, and counselors we will attempt to come up with the best and efficient mode of
conducting the research. Addressing the issue of young people with disabilities requires the inclusion
of a larger audience such as the students, teachers, and administrators (Supports Center, 2004).
According to Milsom, counselor s assigned the role of preparing students for the job and life outside
school has failed to adequately present the disabled students with skills to cope with life after school

relation of the information and survival in the outside world. The study will collect data by asking the
students questions related to survival outside the school and rate students according to the level of
preparedness. Through such information, the research can offer a clear understanding of the issue to
be discussed as well as the culture in the schools today concerning their ability to prepare learners for

The New Public Management Approach to Regulations
Laws, laws, laws, are something that America has strived to uphold over the years in order to be
successful. That will be the first subject of our questions today. I will give insight to whether NPM can
coincide in a regulatory environment where legal and political approaches are often controlling. In
order to answer this question, we must first look at what actually foster s the regulatory environment.
Since the origins of regulations here in America, I believe federal organizations have had the very best
intentions. During the industrial revolution, America was dramatically changed forever. From an
economical and technological standpoint, we would never interact the same way again. The text
illustrates a fantastic point about agriculture stating, We depend upon farmers and food handlers;
however, we do not personally know these individuals. (Rosenbloom) During the Industrial
Revolution, markets just became too unpredictable; therefore, the federal government decided to step
in to become that third party watch dog. Personally, it is only fair that a third party looks out for our
safety. Most of the time we think of federal regulation as product safety, however, it is much more
than that. Government regulations are involved in several different sectors, including: market failure,
environmental protection, employment regulation, administration of regulation, political patterns,
majoritarian politics, interest group politics, client politics, entrepreneurial politics, and

In-Depth Study of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER ABSTRACT: This article represents an in depth study of
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD in a holistic context. The main focus of this research is on Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder from the physiological perscective. PTSD is a response mechanism of the
mind to an actual or perceived traumatic event. Research has shown that cognitive factors, anxeity,
and injuries for example due to car crashes are linked to and often responsible for Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder. However, research has shown that traumatic events such as war or any type of abuse
are probably one of the major causes of PTSD. This article reveals the history of PTSD taking into
account the time of World War One as well as theories proposed by Sigmund Freud and Pierre Janet.
Initially, PTSD was a condition that was closely associated with military personnel alone. However,
recent understanding of the physiology of the condition and modern circumstances has led PTSD to

Head and Neck Essay
Common head and neck surgery includes the removal of the voice box: largyngectomy and
tracheostomy: making an incision on the anterior aspect of the neck and opening an airway through an
incision in the trachea. The removal of the larynx occurs in cases of laryngeal cancer and in this case
the airway is separated from the mouth, nose and oesophagus meaning that the patient will breathe
through a stoma in the neck. In tracheostomy cases the resulting stoma can act as an airway and a
tracheotomy tube is inserted, enabling the individual to breathe without the use of their nose and
mouth.
Tracheostomys may be required for long term control of excessive bronchial secretions, particularly in
those with reduced consciousness or to maintain an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that air does not pass through the vocal cords and so speech is not possible. Sometimes
patients can have a tracheostomy tube that allows some air to go through the vocal chords and out of
the mouth. Patients can have this type of tube if they are able to swallow without difficulty and if they
do not need a tracheostomy tube with an inflated cuff in order to get air into the lungs.
The last option is surgical voice restoration which was introduced by Singer amp; Blom in
1980(Blom,1995) Not all patients are suitable for this however, It involves a tracheoesophageal
speaking valve, a small fistula is surgically created through the tracheal wall into the oesophagus. A
small, one way valve is inserted into the fistula and it allows air to be shunted from the trachea to the
oesophagus and up through the pharyngo oesophageal segment creating an acoustic wave form and
voice. A longer flow of voice can be achieved as pulmonary air is used as the initiator for voice.
Another problem that arises in head and neck patients is that of malnutrition and weight loss. They are
particularly at risk of developing nutritional problems. Many patients with head and neck cancer have
histories of high alcohol intake, tobacco use and poor dietary habits. Malnutrition often when alcohol
is involved. Patients nutritional needs should be assessed and patients at high risk of

How To Improve Radiator Maintenance
Radiator Maintenance Keeps Your Car From Overheating And Breaking Down On The Road
Preventative maintenance is the most important thing you can do for your car whether it is brand new
or used. Fixing problems before they turn into malfunctions can save you from being stranded on the
road. It will also save you from expensive repairs. Every system on your car as well as the tires needs
to be cared for to keep them in top shape. The car s cooling system is no exception because if it
becomes worn or damaged, your car can overheat or freeze up. Here are some things to know about
maintaining the radiator in your car. Check The Fluid Level Regularly You ll want to check the level
of coolant in the radiator on a regular basis to make sure it stays full. The level shouldn t drop, so if it
does, you ll want to take your car to the shop to find the leak and have it repaired. Checking the level
of coolant is easy because you can see it just by looking. There s no need to use a dipstick like when
you check the oil. When you take your car to the shop for regular service checks, the mechanic will
also check the level of fluid in your radiator to guard against potential problems. ... Show more

You can follow the recommendations of the car manufacturer since the guidelines vary according to
the model of the car. However, how you drive your car also affects how often you need to change the
fluid. If you pull a boat or camper, that puts a strain on the cooling system of your car and may require
the fluid to be changed more often. Your mechanic can test the quality of the fluid to make sure it hasn
t degraded and to make sure it is free from contaminants such as rust. If the fluid is no longer high
quality, it should be changed even if it is ahead of the manufacturer s

Planned Behavior
The Theory of Planned Behavior
The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) predicts an individual s intention to engage in a behavior at a
particular time and place ( Summary of theory of planned behavior. Abstract, 2016). It theorizes that
individual behavioral conduct is driven by behavior intentions, where conduct intentions are function
of three determinants: an individual mentality toward behavioral conduct, subjective standards, and
perceived behavioral control ( Summary of theory of planned behavior. Abstract, 2016).
Icek Ajzen Theory of Planned Behavior was proposed in 1985 through his article, From Intentions to
Actions: A Theory of Planned Behavior. The theory was developed from the Theory of Reasoned
Action , which was proposed by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The theory consolidates some of the focal concepts in the social and behavior sciences, and it
characterizes these ideas in a way that grants prediction and comprehension of specific behaviors in
specified contexts (Ajzen, 1991). Demeanors toward the conduct, subjective standards with regards to
the behavior, and perceived control over the behavior are typically found to anticipate behavioral
intentions with an increase level of accuracy. Thusly, these intentions, in combination of perceived
behavioral control, can represent an instinctive proportion of discrepancy in behavior (Ajzen,

  • 2. Research Methodology For A Researcher RESEARCH METHODOLOGY Research methodology involves the design which a researcher ought to use to study a topic of interest. It therefore involves the procedure by which researchers undertake their work and the framework within which is conducted (Rajasekar et al., 2013; Remenyi et al., 1998). Research Methodology aids research planning, if properly design it will enable a researcher to arrive at results or findings and tools that can either be used to disprove or approve such knowledge. (Nachamias et al., 1996; Saunders et al.,2003). This chapter outlines data collection procedure as well as how data is analyse for this study. These involve choice of the sampling frame, sampling techniques, how interviews were designed and conducted as well as questionnaire administration, time horizon, transcription of interviews and analysis of responses, ethical concerns and limitations of the methods. Qualitative Research Methods Qualitative research method was chosen for this study. It involves an interpretative inquiry and a naturalistic approach to an area of study (Denzin, Lincoln, 2005; Qazi, 2011). Researchers therefore make an interpretation of what they observe, hear, and understand (Creswell 2003). Qualitative research method was suitable and adopted to deal with the study objectives since the research was more naturalistic, participant driven and comprehensive (Ciceu, 2015) as well as inquiring. • 3. Essay Harry S. Truman Harry S. Truman was the 33rd President of the United States. Born on May 8, 1884, in Lamar, Missouri, he was the oldest of three children. Truman had no middle name. His parents apparently gave him the middle initial S to appease two family relatives. At age six, his family moved to Independence, Missouri, where he attended Sunday school. There he met five year old Elizabeth Wallace, with whom he later fell in love with. Beginning school at age eight, Truman modeled thick glasses to correct his poor eyesight. Fortunately, his eyesight did not seriously interfere with his two favorite pastimes, music and reading. He woke up early everyday to practice the piano and visited a music teacher twice a week, until ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In April of 1919, Truman returned home, now as a major. On June 28th of the same year, he married Elizabeth Wallace, his Sunday school love. Truman decided to spark his political career. So he started by entering a four way Democratic primary for a judgeship, which was essentially a job supervising roads and buildings. His popularity was expected to increase if he got the support of the Ku Klux Klan, but Truman turned down this idea. Even so, by campaigning his wartime record and his past history, Truman won the primary of the election. In January of 1923, he was sworn into his first public office. One year later his only daughter, Mary Margaret, was born. During his time as a judge, he improved roads and reduced the inherited debt. By staying interested in the National Guard, he was promoted to colonel. Next, Truman tested his luck in the Senate. The main cause of the 2008 9 financial crisis was caused by the collapse of the housing bubble within the USA. But the housing bubble was created many years earlier. The Federal Reserve in the early part of the 2000 s reduced its interest rates down from 6.5% to 1% within four years. This reduction in rates was applied due to several events happening in the US economy at that time. However in 2004, the US federal bank began to increase interest rates in order to combat the rise in inflation, but this policy created a problem later, which led to house prices falling. Soon many borrowers realized they had mortgages secured against properties worth more than the value of the property itself. This led to a lot of borrowers defaulting and foreclosures happening which continued to drive house prices down and in doing so reduced the capital available to financial institutions such as banks. Also with the re introduction, by the US government bill not used since 1938 called Mark to Market Accounting in 2007. This law required all financial institutions to report losses before they occurred. As a result of the introduction of this Bill it caused financial institutions into having to drastically reduce their capital available as any surpluses would be needed to cover expected losses and in doing so led to the collapse of investment banks like Lehmann Bros. In this course we have viewed several films all dealing with the depiction of female athletes in an attempt to gauge society s current perception of women in sport. The Decreasing Value Of Production The purpose of this section is to analyze the decreasing value of the production in frequency between the three types of the bigram syntactic sequences and the three types of the trigram syntactic sequences in order to test Hypothesis 2 which was proposed for this study. Hypothesis 2 denotes that, in the learner s corpus, as compared to the reference corpora, the production rate of the articles is lower in the NPs which have an adjective preceding a noun (Art + Adj + N) than noun phrases which have no preceding adjective (Art + N), The procedure of the analysis is to compare per million normalized frequency of the three types of the bigram syntactic sequences and the three types of the trigram syntactic sequences within the same group and across different groups. Based on the results of the raw production frequency of the bigram and trigram syntactic sequences ( the+N , a+N , and an+N vs. a + N , a + Adj + N , and an + Adj + N ), the raw production counts were normalized per 1,000,000 for inter language comparison between the learner corpus and the reference corpus. • 25. Similarities Between Zaabalawi And The Alchemist Naguib Mahfouz s short story Zaabalawi and Paolo Coelho s novel The Alchemist both trace the encounters of a narrator who embarks on a spiritual journey. The works are strikingly similar in that they are both are organized as quest narratives, and both are set in the middle east with the same endgame in mind: enlightenment. As Santiago from The Alchemist and the unnamed narrator from Zaabalawi travel, they embody the seeker archetype, and from each person they meet, they gain wisdom and strength. In both stories, a strongly developed narrator is aided by a notably transient supporting cast. One such member of Santiago s supporting cast is the King of Salem, who tells Santiago he will help him find the hidden treasure because Santiago has succeeded in discovering [his] personal legend (21). A whole cast of characters, from the Englishmen to the Alchemist, go on to advance Santiago s cause in a very explicit manner. They provide him money, wisdom, or experience. The Alchemist is especially notable: derived from the books title, his character is sagacious and and possess complete understanding of the Soul of the World. In the work, the Soul of the World is associated with spiritual growth; in Mahfouz s story, the idea of Zaabalawi functions similarly. Characters in the latter tale become progressively more in touch with Zaabalawi, who seems to represent some sort of spiritual presence. In general, Mahfouz s story is more implicit, but also more structured. The only information provided about Zaabalawi is that he s a true saint of God, a remover of worries and troubles, but with each new interaction, the narrator s acquaintances become closer to the presence of Zaabalawi with each new interaction. This correlation can then be used to infer about the true nature of this spiritual being. The first character met by the narrator, Seikh Qamar, is cushioned by a layer of luxurious materialism: in his office, noted are a beautiful woman with...intoxicating perfume, a fine leather upholstered chair, and a costly carpet, among other things (883). What have been the causes, and how have the unions responded to the challenge. Figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) in 2000, show that the decline in Australian union membership continues, despite the efforts of the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU), to stop the slide. The ABS reports that trade union membership has dropped to 28 percent of the total workforce, compared to 1992, where there was 40 percent. (Australian Bureau of Statistics 2000.) The most important function of a union is to maximise the wages and salaries of its members (Deery, Plowman, and Walsh, 2000). Why do employees join unions? There are a number of reasons that an employee may join a union but three major factors are evident. They are; dissatisfaction with economic aspects of the job; a desire to influence those aspects of the work environment through union orientated means; and, a belief that the benefits of unionism outweigh the expected costs (Deery et al, 2000). With the benefits of the objectives of a union evident, why has Australian unions witnessed a decline in membership? There are many reasons to suggest a decline in membership, but three main factors stand out. They are; the changing composition of employment; the casual effects of the business cycle; and, the introduction of the Accord (Deery et al, 2000). The changing composition of employment relates to the change in the structure of the workforce. Job growth has become generally greater in those segments of the labour force with relatively low levels of trade union membership, and a contraction of employment among the more highly unionised segments of the labour force (Healey, 1995). This emotive subject was found by the researcher to be ever present when providing for needs of the child with SEN and EAL within year one, finding the restriction to movement and space detrimental to learning. Roberts Holmes (2012) concurs this highlighting the conflict of interests between the EYFS and the National Curriculum where play based learning is very much decreased. In addition Tickell (2011) shares concerns about the disconnect between the EYFS and the National Curriculum recommending a smoother transition between the two. Brock (2009) confirms this by speaking of the need for the transition to be more fluent by teacher through a more play based curriculum. However such planning is found by McInnes et al (2011) to be heavily influenced by the predisposed understanding and perceptions of the individual teacher. Therefore an analysis of such thoughts and perceptions towards play within year one, will also be examined/evaluated throughout the research. • 34. Mechanisms of Axon Guidance Axons are sensitive and their respond depend on the local environment. When the tectum is removed, retinal axons grow toward the missing tissue, demonstrating that optic axons utilize these neighbourhood signals as opposed to a long run diffusible attractant from the tectum as they grow along the optic tract (Taylor, 1990). In the event of a small piece of the optic tract neuroepithelium is turned 90° preceding the axons enter it, then they become misoriented when they enter the pivoted transplant (Harris, 1989) and correct their course of growth once they exit. These results confirm that the neuroepithelium contains local information to which growing axons respond and that they are not simply following gradients of attractants released by their targets (Sanes et al., 2012). Growth cone filopodia are long, motile, and covered with receptors, also have a very high surface to volume ratio, which can help convert membrane signals into large changes in intracellular messengers such as calcium. Filopodia can show localized transient elevations of intracellular calcium and these transients reduce filopodial motility (Sanes et al., 2012). Calcium transients can be directly artificially activated in growth cone filopodia by loading neurons with a calcium caging agent that releases calcium upon stimulation with a pulse of light (Gomez et al., 2001). Experiments in which calcium is uncaged on one side of a growth cone generally cause the growth cone to turn toward the side that has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The site for this study will be a local high school with both female and male learners with Special Education Needs (SEN) and learning disability. The research will target or focus on one of the schools with a high number of disabled students to ensure the statistics taken are more conclusive for the study. Together with the school administration, 9 12th grade teachers, students, and counselors we will attempt to come up with the best and efficient mode of conducting the research. Addressing the issue of young people with disabilities requires the inclusion of a larger audience such as the students, teachers, and administrators (Supports Center, 2004). According to Milsom, counselor s assigned the role of preparing students for the job and life outside school has failed to adequately present the disabled students with skills to cope with life after school (2002). The study will collect data by asking the students questions related to survival outside the school and rate students according to the level of preparedness.
