Punished Reflection Victor Rios starts of the book by giving a brief background of his own life and
what he experienced as a child in the ghettos of Oakland, California and the events that caused him to
turn from his old way of life. During the span of Victor Rios juvenile years he decide to join and
become a gang member Rios states I joined the gang seeking protection that I thought police and other
authority figures in the community had failed to provide (Rios ix) Rios quote is the most commonly
known reason why youth in urban areas seek out membership in gangs which is a lack of protection
and involvement from police and authoritative figures in bettering these communities. Along with his
membership he partook in deviant acts and so on. Rios talks about this boy he knew that went by the
name smiley that would hang around the gang a lot. Before Smiley was initiated to the gang Rios
notes how Smiley would tell him stories of how teachers would treat him punitively meaning that they
were aiming to punish him based on his prior actions and his color. Rios mentioned Smiley as being a
naïve boy, he suffered physical abuse from his parents along with that his parents often kicked him out
as a punishment for questioning them and informing them about the negative ways his teachers went
about treating him. Soon after Smiley was initiated into the gang, Rios states that they became best

Southwest case
9 602 156 JUNE 21, 2002 ROGELIO OLIVA JODY HOFFER GITTELL Southwest Airlines in
Baltimore Matt Hafner, the Southwest Airlines station manager1 at Baltimore Washington
International Airport (BWI), slowly shook his head. It was June 7, 2001, and he had just received the
final operating performance numbers for May. Station performance had certainly improved since his
arrival at Baltimore 11 months before, thanks to an intense focus on hiring and controls. Still, he knew
there was a long way to go. Matt2 had been with Southwest for 10 years and had worked in many
different stations, from the smallest to now one of the largest. Baltimore was already bigger than
Chicago and might even overtake Phoenix and Las Vegas, for Matt knew that ... Show more content

Crews, furnishings, and spare parts were interchangeable and maintenance tended to be more
predictable. Although there were differences between the early 737 Series 200 and the later Series
700, Southwest standardized the cockpit configuration as much as possible to minimize additional
training requirements for pilots. The single operating platform also routinized cleanup, provisioning,
and ramp operations (unloading and loading baggage and cargo), which helped speed turnarounds at
the gate. Third, where available, Southwest used less congested airports with easy access to large
metropolitan areas, both to avoid disrupting flight operations and to maximize aircraft time in the air.
In large cities, Southwest often used older facilities, like Dallas s Love Field or Chicago s Midway
Airport, that had been abandoned when new, larger airports were constructed. Fourth, Southwest
offered limited services, specifically no in flight meals only beverages and snacks and did not transfer
baggage to other airlines. Finally, Southwest offered open, single class seating, which created
efficiencies in several ways. There was no need for computer hardware and software to sort and hold
seating assignments, nor for the time and expense of printing boarding passes and verifying them as
passengers boarded the aircraft.3 Perhaps more importantly, the open seating system encouraged
customers to board eagerly to lay claim to their desired seats. Quick

Head Start Essay example
Head Start
Head Start and Early Head Start are comprehensive child development programs which serve children
from birth to age five, pregnant woman and their extended families. They are child focused programs
that have the overall goal of increasing the school readiness of young children in low income families.
. These programs try to prepare young children intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically for
their future educational and social endeavors. ( U.S. Department of Health and Human Services,
2002).. The programs prepare the parent(s) to be supportive in the endeavor. Head Start has the
philosophy that parents are a child s first and most influential teacher. The Head Start program is
beneficial to early learning.

The program serves approximately
915,000 children. During the 1999 reauthorization, Congress decided that there was a need for
standards of literacy (which have not yet been fully implemented) . ( Good Start, Grow Smart: The
Bush Administration s Early Childhood Initiatives, 2002).
In the 1994 legislation revised Head Start performance standards.
Guidelines and new standards were set nationwide. The legislation focused on infants and toddlers and
their families as well as quality services for children. The education program is designed to meet the
needs of each child in Head Start.
Children must meet specific guidelines in order to qualify for Head Start. Family income (over the last
year) is considered. The family must be a low income family (income below the official poverty
level). Other things taken into consideration for acceptance are the lack of another pre school program
in the community, a population of less than 1,000 persons and residence in a remote area.
Head Start programs emphasize the importance of early identification of health problems. Referrals
are made to various agencies after each family s needs are identified. Every child accepted into the
program receives free medical benefits. The child must have a thorough physical examination and a
complete dental examination, as well as hearing and vision screening. Follow up and treatment are a

Roman Architecture And The Renaissance
Roman Architecture and the Renaissance In the renaissance days, the designers reject the many sided
quality and vertical of the Gothic style for the straightforwardness and balanced degrees of class.
Balanced bends, vaults, and the built up solicitations were revived. This reclamation was refined
through direct view of Roman leftovers. The renaissance structural planning is the construction
modeling of the time frame between the mid fifteenth and mid seventeenth hundreds of years in
distinctive districts of Europe, showing a knowledgeable recovery and improvement of specific
components of old Rome views on society. Elaborately, Renaissance construction modeling took after
Gothic structural engineering and was succeeded by Florid building design. Structural planning
remains an important subject to discuss when recorded developments in the time periods happen and
the various sorts of craftsmanship begin to move as well. This is especially present in the midst of the
tasteful development from the medieval period to the Renaissance where degrees and symmetry are
returning musings beginning from generally Greek and Roman times. In the midst of the Renaissance
period, engineers, for instance Bartolommeo Bandinelli were known for the staggeringly arranged
curves in Florence, which were greater than whenever in late memory effectively experienced. While
the outside parts of Renaissance building configuration were astounding without any other individual,
within segments were

Follow the Leader Essay
Follow the Leader
Leadership is a term that cannot easily be defined. According to Ben Silverstein, author of Managing
People: Secrets to Leading for New Managers being a leader is not a right, it is a privilege, bestowed
by those you lead. (Silverstein 2009, pg. 115) In order to lead there must be people willing to follow.
The privilege of being a leader is earned based upon choices and actions. Leadership truly is a way of
life for the leader and to those that choose to follow.
There are many opportunities for a person to follow a leader. They are found at home, at school, in
churches, in education, in businesses, in communities and in the government. There are good leaders
and bad leaders. Samuel C. Certo, author of Supervision: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teachers who inspire students to want to learn the material are most effective.
Successful businesses demonstrate positive leadership through their contributions to society and the
communities where they operate. They do this by exercising social responsibility, being supportive in
the success of their community by hosting projects and fundraisers for local charities and sponsoring
local events. They can offer the community internship opportunities for students at schools. Internal to
business operations leaders can be found in employees ranking from the bottom to the top. This is not
a title, it is a demonstration of personal accountability and responsibility.
Another opportunity for leadership can be found at home and in churches. Students begin their
learning at home from a parent or guardian. This person or people provide the first available moment
for a child to witness leadership. The choices parents and guardians make influences the children they
have in a major way. If a parent decides to use drugs and lead that type of a lifestyle, this will have a
great impact on the child. The child can either decide that this is not a life he or she would choose to
lead or the child will think this life is normal and follow in their leaders footsteps. A parent or
guardian can choose to raise their child with the guidance of a pastor and a church. Every choice that a
guardian makes for their child, impacts that child greatly either

Although there are a lot of similarities to the poem Frankenstein and the poem Frankenstein returns,
there are a lot of differences to the poems too. Story by story is the way that I think that will help you

Frankenstein is about the Boran getting cadavers from dead people to make a monstrous man. Now,
just because he is made of cadavers from dead people doesn t mean he s a mean guy. The villagers in
this poem don t like him and think he is a monster. The villagers think of him like a monster because
he is ugly and dead looking. Then the blind man took Frankenstein in and treated him like a friend.

Racquet ball is a fast paced sport that has in the last...
Racquet ball is a fast paced sport that has in the last few years has gained popularity at an enormous
rate. Not only does racquetball offer an excellent cardio workout, the intensity can be exhilarating and
releases stress. Once racquetball was considered a businessman sport, but with the game increasing in
popularity, it has become a sport that has attracted fans from all walks of life and all ages. Racquetball
is played on a rectangular indoor court with four side walls and a ceiling. The courts are designed so
that the ball can bounce off any surface and still be in play, yet it is in a confined area so you don t
have to run to cover too much territory. Fitness centers and larger gyms are the best places to find

Points are scored when after serving the ball, the server wins the rally. If the player returning serve
wins the rally, no points are scored for either player, and the player who won the rally retains the right
to serve. Keeping the ball low and hitting it high gives the opponent time to get to the ball before it
bounces twice. Once the ball is in play, each player hits the ball back and forth until one misses the
ball, hits an illegal shot or goes out of bounds. The objective is earn points or win the serve each
player must try end the rally. To end a rally, a player s shot hits the front wall at its lowest point,
causing the ball to go out of bounds rather than bounce back into the playing area; this is call a kill
shot or a rollout. Rallies end with an error, or if the ball makes contact with the floor before reaching
the wall. The walls and ceilings can be used for shot variations. The key to a great shot is to grip your
racquet firmly. Many shots will fall short because of an improper grip and the racquet ends up at the
wrong angle when it actually makes contact with the ball. A firm grip will make your shots faster and
more accurate. Using the wall to your advantage is one of your best defenses. To excel at the sport
practice makes perfect. Racquetball is also a great game for just one person. Practice hitting balls off

The Concepts Of Nature Vs Nurture
The concepts of Nature vs Nurture, are major concepts in social science. Nature is the hereditary
pattern of physical features in a human being s development. These features include, but are not
limited to, our personality, usual and unusual appearances and the general measurements of how
humans hold the attributes of being sociable, hostile behavior, their emotions, and the usage of alcohol
and drugs. On the other hand Nurture is slightly different. Nurture is the influence of the environment
that plays upon the behavior and characteristics in a human. The idea of nurture is that humans will
grow up to form their personality on the way they are raised and life experiences. Culture is defined
by the people in the environment, however, the environment helps shape and form human
personalities in order to forge a culture. Culture is created by religions/beliefs, clothing/foods,
language/social habits as well as the humanistic discipline; such as music, paintings, literature, and
many more. Culture is generated by humankind, because humans hold their belief systems and
patterns that was passed down by generations; by humans passing down what they have learned from
their families this begins to create a culture. Personality plays a central role in both nature vs nurture
and culture. Furthermore, personality is stated the total organization of inherited and acquired
characteristics of an individual as evidenced by the individual s behavior (Hunt 119). Personality is

The Valuation Implications Of Enterprise Risk Management
The Valuation Implications of Enterprise Risk Management Maturity by Mark Farrell and Ronan
Gallagher seeks to prove that firms who integrate the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process
tend to enhance their value by recognizing risk. This article states that enterprises will be subject to
many risks and that the goal of ERM is to model, measure, analyze, and respond to these risks in a
holistic manner (p. 625). As defined by the Casualty Actuarial Society (2003) ERM is the discipline
by which an organization in any industry assesses, controls, exploits, finances and monitors risks from
all sources for the purpose of increasing the organization s short and long term value to its
stakeholders . The value of a firm was found by analyzing the ERM maturity assessment score by
using the Risk and Insurance Management Society Risk Maturity Model (RIMS RMM), which is
commonly known and esteemed. This was done to provide evidence that companies who incorporate
the ERM process tend to add value to their company. This is important because as the article states,
the premise of ERM has only been in existence for just over 10 years, and therefore research is
extremely limited in regards to how to measure the full effect of ERM on a firm. This article seeks to
discuss the value of ERM and how it has evolved, the data and model used to confirm the value of
ERM, and then it concludes with the observed results. Summary Lead article This study seeks to build

Cognitive Style And Cognitive Style
Cognitive style, also known as thinking style, refers to the customary patterns of behaviors which
often emerge in cognitive process. Cognitive style is not significantly related to the ability of thinking
reasoning among students, mostly formed by attitude and expression during the process of perception,
memory and problem solving. Cognitive style is individual differences in the cognitive process with
great varieties, such as field independent style and field dependent style, reflective style and impulsive

the meaning by relating the word to the context, sentences, clauses or paragraphs. This is an effective
strategy to master words and vocabulary. Analytic style tends to pay more attention to the details and
procedures. They can establish clear and identifiable formation parts. That is the typical feature of

Pan s Labyrinth Surrealism
The early Francoist period of Spain s history was filled with violence, discourse, and the beginning of
a new government. Soon after the end of the Spanish Civil War, there was still fighting going on
between the victorious Nationalists and the Republicans. The fantasy film Pan s Labyrinth depicts this
time period of Spain in a surrealist setting as it follows the adventures of a young girl, Ofelia, as she
goes between a dark underground world and the real world. While the film is often surrealist, it also
displays the violent ways of the early Francoist period in the camp of Ofelia s stepfather, the Falangist

Surprisingly, some Americans trust certain federal departments than the federal government while at

But the recent study of 2004 2005 found the opposite. They discovered that bus systems operated by
municipal and county work more efficiently because managers can handle the incompatible pressures
from different stakeholders (Goodsell, 2015). To some extent, government can save money through
contracting out some of it functions to the private companies. Moreover, there is also an assumption
that bureaucracy is growing larger day by day which weakens personal liberty. The size of growth
fluctuates, but the number is increasing at both state and local governments and decreasing at the
federal government.
Strengths of bureaucracy
More trained personnel than contract workers. It has more money to subsidize certain services when
private companies that operated bus systems went out of business. Moreover, most changes are
initiated by the bureaucrats not elected officials (Goodsell, 2015). Most celebrated innovations were
facilitated by bureaucrats. These are signs of their strengths.
Weakness of bureaucracy
Some government programs are poorly designed programs and it takes government some time to
rectify the system like the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR) due to processing
time which spiked at some stage.
True or false stories about critics
It is untrue that all bureaucrats are arrogant to their clients and want to control them. This is dispelled
by the interviews that Goodsell

Mary Shelley Constraints
In everything, there are constraints to what you can do in that subject. I am currently in a class that
studies how those constraints bring about the creativity in the world. I believe Mary Shelley is an
excellent example of how a beaucoup of restraints can lead to one of the best novels of all time,
Frankenstein. The most notable would be the time period she wrote it in, that she was a woman

Mary Shelley is thought to have a very tragic life. Mary Shelley was born August 30, 1797 to Mary

Noradrenaline is chemical transmitter at the post ganglionic sympathetic nerve ending and also

Contraction of the smooth muscle (example. Blood vessels, pupil of the eye) actions of both
adrenaline and noradrenaline effects result in stimulating alpha (A) receptors located on the smooth

The twitch tension of fast contracting fibres (white muscle) is increased by adrenaline, particularly if
the muscle is fatigued. Whereas the twitch of slow (red) muscle is reduced. These effects depend on an
action on the contractile proteins, rather than on the membrane and the mechanism is poorly
understood. In humans, adrenaline and other b2 agonists cause a marked tremor: shakiness that
accompanies fear, excitement or the excessive use of b2 agonists (example: salbutamol) in the
treatment of asthma examples of this. This results from an increase in muscle spindle discharge,
coupled with an effect on the contraction kinetics of the fibres, these effects combining to produce an
instability in the reflex control of muscle length. Beta receptor antagonists are sometimes used to

their willingness to trade. After close analysis the Tokugawa Japanese empire was more successful
economically.
Politically the Ottoman empire and Tokugawa Japanese empire were similar because each of them
established a central bureaucracy as the head of their government to help maintain a stable yet
effective way of running their empires. In the Ottoman empire, the supreme authority was the sultan
who controlled political and military operations. While the grand vizier, also known as the chief
minister carried the main burden of the state. As the empire started to expand, the status and prestige
of the sultan increased and a centralized administration system was adopted to help maintain order.
The sultan controlled his bureaucracy through an imperial council that met four days a week. The
grand vizier led the council meetings, for which the sultan sat behind a screen overhearing the
proceedings and then privately indicated his desires to the grand vizier. In summary in the Ottoman
the supreme authority was the sultan while the grand vizier carried out the desires of the sultan and

Between 1600 and 1700 the American Colonies Were Shaken by...
During the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries colonial America experienced a number of rebellions
by various groups for a variety of reasons. The protests took place in Virginia, Maryland,
Massachusetts, and New York. Each protest began for a different reason, however, all involved the
discontent that some groups underwent in the colonies. Some of the most notable rebellions include
Bacon s Rebellion, The Regulator Uprising, Leislor s Rebellion, Culpepper s Rebellion, and the
Paxton Boys Uprising. The Paxton Boy Revolt, which occurred in Pennsylvania, was a response to
Pontiac s Rebellion, one of the greatest Indian Uprisings to ever happen. The Paxton Boys felt that the

Edmund Andros the governor prior to the Glorious Revolution was known for being an extremely
strict man that strongly supported the Navigation acts and this is one reason why he was overthrown
by Leislor. The rebellion established a rebellious attitude towards British domination, and reinforced
the idea that the colonies were subject to British rule by their free will. The War of Regulation was
caused by corruption in the government. Officials were unfair and corrupt. Many of the officers were
deemed to be very greedy and oftentimes would band together with other local officials for their own
personal gain as they sometimes stole tax money along with other things. This war ended with the
rebels winning and the regulators were forced to leave. This rebellion was different from the other
rebellions for the fact that it did play a role in giving people the confidence to have an American
Revolution as the regulators ended up becoming tories while the rebels ended up becoming patriots.
The causes of this rebellion were similar to the others as people were unsatisfied with the way the
colony was being ran. Culpepper s Rebellion was a revolt where Thomas Miller, an official attempted
to take control of a large portion of the Carolinas (later would be known as North America). A counter
party was formed that was led by John Culpepper. This party would evtually improsen Miller and have

Comparing The Tortilla Curtain And Child, In The Rose Garden
The social commentaries in both The Tortilla Curtain by T.C. Boyle and Child, Dead, in the Rose
Garden by E.L. Doctorow unveils the true reality of the American Government and the social injustice
of the American society. In the Tortilla Curtain, T.C. Boyle took upon an adventure of two illegal
immigrants from Mexico who faced the unsettling truth of the social class system of America. But In
Child, Dead, in a Rose Garden E.L. Doctorow expresses the injustice of the Government and their
ability to blindside the public with fraudulent information. Both of these writings apply a different
structure, which can ultimately show the differences on such similar ideas. The authors E.L Doctorow
and T.C.Boyle write about two very different topics. One story shows just how does the social class
system work, and the interaction between immigration and immigrants. While E.L. Doctorow s writes
about a death of a young man which was the symbol of what would change America. Now aside from
the plots themselves, they share similar ideas, like the viewpoint of they always win and the unsettling
reality on the rulings of the Government. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The contractors began to arrive, the white men with their big bleached faces and soulless eyes,
enthroned in their trucks (paragraph 4 of article 4), this quote shows that people look for workers
everyday to help with their personal problems, and when the government has the opportunity to
capture these poor immigrants, they would do it right away. I guess it was selfish of me to think of my
truck rather than the person I just hit (Tortilla Curtain pg.2), proves the fact that if Candido was really

The Technology Era Of Technology
Just like a four year old on Christmas morning, I waited in the booksale line my sophomore year eager
to receive my newest toy. I quickly ran through the registration lines, so quickly that nearly forgot to
take my ID picture. Alas, a Glenbrook South student handed a large, white cardboard box with the
contents I had been anticipating all summer. It was Christmas in August. In the evolutionary era of
technology, schools have become increasingly dependent on the usage of internet and computers. As
teachers are provided with more and more online resources for instructing, it only makes sense for
students to follow. Along with other local elementary schools, Glenbrook South dipped its toes in the
technology era with the initial implementation of Smart Boards and other classroom technology in
over years past. In the 2013 2014 school year, Glenbrook South decided to fully submerge into the
pool to begin the ChromeBook program. Each student would be required to pay a portion of the cost
for the Samsung ChromeBook computer each year for school usage. These computers were introduced
in efforts to enable equality among all students, as they are being provided the same resourc and
online educational activities. Additionally, they would contribute to increased communication between
teachers and students. Despite all these benfits, why did more than half of surveyed seniors, including
myself, abandon their ChromeBooks for a more expensive, brand name laptop two years later?

skin test must return within 48 to 72 hours to have a trained health care worker look for a reaction on
the arm. If at the site of injection there may be raised, hard area or swelling, its size should be using a
ruler. If the size is greater than 5cm this indicates the positive result for TB.

On 3 26 2017 at about 0805 hrs I was west bound on E Main St at about Auburn Way when I noticed a
black Acura pass me east bound on E Main St. At the time, the vehicle had no front plate and it

Officer Feero had sent a BOLO out about a black 2003 Acura that was reported stolen from 402 16th
ST NE. Additionally, in the BOLO, Officer Feero noted that the Acura (WA/BAJ1409) had a KCCO

The Sensational Murder Of Helen Jewett
In the past few decades, a new stream of research has emerged in American crime and criminality. It
entails the study of sensationalized murder stories. Such an inquiry is critical to understand Americans
past in crime and criminality. Case studies such as the murder of Jewett are riveting thus creating a
nuanced portrait of a historical moment. Such study paints a picture on important changes in American
culture and society over time. With this in mind, the paper details the sensational murder of Helen
Jewett. A cursory glance at the argument shows that Jewett personality and lifestyle shatters the
common ideas particularly in popular minds about prostitutes as pathetic and broken persons living
impoverished lives. However, understanding Jewett murder demand a closer look at the 1830s and
1840s prostitution.
On a cold night in1836, Jewett was found dead with her corpse roasting on her elegant bed. With
engrossing details, Jewett murder became an example of media sensation with leading newspapers
featuring stories on the murder case with the accused Richard Robinson trial becoming the center of
focus. The intensive coverage of the gruesome crime established the template for crime reporting,
which ideally endure to present day. Certainly, the murder of one prostitute in a metropolis city like
the New York could have easily been, forgotten had it not been for the sensational reporting. By
drawing evidence from a range of renowned scholars, the paper aims to paint a picture

Charlie and Elie have both been challenged by the concept of identity. In Flowers for Algernon and
Night, these characters have faced many conflicts including not having their identity accepted by
society, having insecurities about their identity, and being mistreated based on their identity.
Charlie Gordon s identity was not accepted by society. At the factory where Charlie worked, Joe Carp

insecure about his identity. Elie is insecure because he sees people leaving their father´s. Elie does not
want to do that to his father because he will feel guilty, but he also thinks about doing it. On page 107
of Night, Elie says I gave him what was left of my soup. But my heart was heavy. I was aware that I
was doing it grudgingly. Elie was afraid of being alone. He did not have his mother or sisters with
him, he only had his father. Elie knew it was right to sacrifice his stuff to help his father, instead of
letting him suffer. Elie did not want to have the guilt of letting his father die. Through all of these

that there was no going back. I was a career Banker until I moved to South Carolina and became an
Interior Decorator. The move was a big deal, but since I felt the need to stay home with my kids in a
totally new state to make sure they acclimated well, I changed what I did to support them.
Now that they are settled in and are involved in all sorts of activities, I think I may go back to work
full time. I have no idea what I ll do, but I feel that I need to go back to work. My husband graciously
supports me on this, knowing that with me working our household duties will change. He understands
the feelings that I have and supports me. This may not be everyone s story, but it s mine. I am going to

Southwest case 9 602 156 JUNE 21, 2002 ROGELIO OLIVA JODY HOFFER GITTELL Southwest Airlines in Baltimore Matt Hafner, the Southwest Airlines station manager1 at Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI), slowly shook his head. It was June 7, 2001, and he had just received the final operating performance numbers for May. Station performance had certainly improved since his arrival at Baltimore 11 months before, thanks to an intense focus on hiring and controls. Still, he knew there was a long way to go. Crews, furnishings, and spare parts were interchangeable and maintenance tended to be more predictable. Although there were differences between the early 737 Series 200 and the later Series 700, Southwest standardized the cockpit configuration as much as possible to minimize additional training requirements for pilots. The single operating platform also routinized cleanup, provisioning, and ramp operations (unloading and loading baggage and cargo), which helped speed turnarounds at the gate. Third, where available, Southwest used less congested airports with easy access to large metropolitan areas, both to avoid disrupting flight operations and to maximize aircraft time in the air. In large cities, Southwest often used older facilities, like Dallas s Love Field or Chicago s Midway Airport, that had been abandoned when new, larger airports were constructed. Fourth, Southwest offered limited services, specifically no in flight meals only beverages and snacks and did not transfer baggage to other airlines. Finally, Southwest offered open, single class seating, which created efficiencies in several ways. There was no need for computer hardware and software to sort and hold seating assignments, nor for the time and expense of printing boarding passes and verifying them as passengers boarded the aircraft.3 Perhaps more importantly, the open seating system encouraged customers to board eagerly to lay claim to their desired seats. Roman Architecture And The Renaissance Roman Architecture and the Renaissance In the renaissance days, the designers reject the many sided quality and vertical of the Gothic style for the straightforwardness and balanced degrees of class. Balanced bends, vaults, and the built up solicitations were revived. This reclamation was refined through direct view of Roman leftovers. The renaissance structural planning is the construction modeling of the time frame between the mid fifteenth and mid seventeenth hundreds of years in distinctive districts of Europe, showing a knowledgeable recovery and improvement of specific components of old Rome views on society. Elaborately, Renaissance construction modeling took after Gothic structural engineering and was succeeded by Florid building design. The choices parents and guardians make influences the children they have in a major way. • 12. The Concepts Of Nature Vs Nurture The concepts of Nature vs Nurture, are major concepts in social science. Nature is the hereditary pattern of physical features in a human being s development. These features include, but are not limited to, our personality, usual and unusual appearances and the general measurements of how humans hold the attributes of being sociable, hostile behavior, their emotions, and the usage of alcohol and drugs. On the other hand Nurture is slightly different. Nurture is the influence of the environment that plays upon the behavior and characteristics in a human. The idea of nurture is that humans will grow up to form their personality on the way they are raised and life experiences. Culture is defined by the people in the environment, however, the environment helps shape and form human personalities in order to forge a culture. Culture is created by religions/beliefs, clothing/foods, language/social habits as well as the humanistic discipline; such as music, paintings, literature, and many more. Culture is generated by humankind, because humans hold their belief systems and patterns that was passed down by generations; by humans passing down what they have learned from their families this begins to create a culture. Personality plays a central role in both nature vs nurture and culture. Furthermore, personality is stated the total organization of inherited and acquired characteristics of an individual as evidenced by the individual s behavior (Hunt 119). Personality is either ... The Valuation Implications Of Enterprise Risk Management The Valuation Implications of Enterprise Risk Management Maturity by Mark Farrell and Ronan Gallagher seeks to prove that firms who integrate the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process tend to enhance their value by recognizing risk. This article states that enterprises will be subject to many risks and that the goal of ERM is to model, measure, analyze, and respond to these risks in a holistic manner (p. 625). As defined by the Casualty Actuarial Society (2003) ERM is the discipline by which an organization in any industry assesses, controls, exploits, finances and monitors risks from all sources for the purpose of increasing the organization s short and long term value to its stakeholders . The value of a firm was found by analyzing the ERM maturity assessment score by using the Risk and Insurance Management Society Risk Maturity Model (RIMS RMM), which is commonly known and esteemed. This was done to provide evidence that companies who incorporate the ERM process tend to add value to their company. This is important because as the article states, the premise of ERM has only been in existence for just over 10 years, and therefore research is extremely limited in regards to how to measure the full effect of ERM on a firm. This article seeks to discuss the value of ERM and how it has evolved, the data and model used to confirm the value of ERM, and then it concludes with the observed results. But the recent study of 2004 2005 found the opposite. They discovered that bus systems operated by municipal and county work more efficiently because managers can handle the incompatible pressures from different stakeholders (Goodsell, 2015). To some extent, government can save money through contracting out some of it functions to the private companies. Moreover, there is also an assumption that bureaucracy is growing larger day by day which weakens personal liberty. The size of growth fluctuates, but the number is increasing at both state and local governments and decreasing at the federal government. Strengths of bureaucracy More trained personnel than contract workers. It has more money to subsidize certain services when private companies that operated bus systems went out of business. Moreover, most changes are initiated by the bureaucrats not elected officials (Goodsell, 2015). Most celebrated innovations were facilitated by bureaucrats. These are signs of their strengths. Weakness of bureaucracy Some government programs are poorly designed programs and it takes government some time to rectify the system like the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR) due to processing time which spiked at some stage. I am currently in a class that studies how those constraints bring about the creativity in the world. This happens from the stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system. Combined actions of both adrenaline and noradrenaline you get these major physiological responses to sympathetic stimulation; Contraction of the smooth muscle (example. Blood vessels, pupil of the eye) actions of both adrenaline and noradrenaline effects result in stimulating alpha (A) receptors located on the smooth muscle cells. The most important action is on the vascular smooth muscle; large arteries and veins as well as arterioles are constricted, from this it results in decreased vascular compliance, increased central venous pressure and increased peripheral resistance. The War of Regulation was caused by corruption in the government. Officials were unfair and corrupt. • 26. The Technology Era Of Technology Just like a four year old on Christmas morning, I waited in the booksale line my sophomore year eager to receive my newest toy. I quickly ran through the registration lines, so quickly that nearly forgot to take my ID picture. Alas, a Glenbrook South student handed a large, white cardboard box with the contents I had been anticipating all summer. It was Christmas in August. In the evolutionary era of technology, schools have become increasingly dependent on the usage of internet and computers. As teachers are provided with more and more online resources for instructing, it only makes sense for students to follow. Along with other local elementary schools, Glenbrook South dipped its toes in the technology era with the initial implementation of Smart Boards and other classroom technology in over years past. In the 2013 2014 school year, Glenbrook South decided to fully submerge into the pool to begin the ChromeBook program. Each student would be required to pay a portion of the cost for the Samsung ChromeBook computer each year for school usage. These computers were introduced in efforts to enable equality among all students, as they are being provided the same resourc and online educational activities. Additionally, they would contribute to increased communication between teachers and students.
