Toyota Recall Issue
Introduction This paper describes various aspects of the Toyota recall issue. It enables to determine the
Toyato recall issues, purpose and structure of it. The Toyota recall issue has prompted high criticism in
national forums, automotive trade publications and media circles. Three separate recall issue by the
Toyota occurred end of 2009 to start of the 2010. First, recall issue was to correct a possible incursion
of an incorrect drivers side floor mat into the foot pedal. Second recall issue start after some crashes
were presented by floor mat incursion. Last recall issues was a separate recall for hybrid anti lock

Searching A Pupil S Locker Without Probable Cause Is A
Searching a pupil s locker without probable cause is a violation of trust and the Fourth Amendment.
Probable cause is legally defined as Apparent facts discovered through logical inquiry that would lead
a reasonably intelligent and prudent person to believe that an accused person has committed a crime,
thereby warranting his or her prosecution, or that a Cause of Action has accrued, justifying a civil
lawsuit or the search of the person or premises by the free dictionary (Probable Cause). Locker
searches have always been a risky and delicate precaution taken by schools that have occasionally lead
to lawsuits, one instance of legal action being taken as a result of the search of a student is the
notorious 1980 s New Jersey v. T.L.O ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though a fair amount of time and money towards searches there is still an alarming amount of theft
and assault on school property. As technology has advanced over the years schools have gotten
electronic gadgets and techniques to keep students out of trouble. As the amount of technology and
precautions taken to avoid students getting in trouble the amount of students breaking rule increases
with it. Though schools take many steps to protect students, pupils still report that drugs are made
accessible to them on school property, schools combine document that nearly 2 million crimes were
reported to them, and many students still feel unsafe (violence in U.S. public schools). These reports
show that millions of dollars provided by taxes go towards school security and it has done less than
intended. When schools search lockers and students without probable cause they become vulnerable to
many legal issues. In the last decade students have lost much of their fourth amendment rights,
students are losing their rights because the U.S. supreme court continues to give schools more and
more leeway to ensure a safer and more disciplined (Ascd. School right to search students) school.
The fourth amendment states that in order for someone to be searched and arrested he would need to

Similarities Between The Giver And Harrison Bergeron
Throughout the texts, The Giver by Lois Lowry and Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., both
communities are striving toward total equality among the people. These two texts share many
similarities and differences. For example, Jonas decides to run away from his community with the
memories given to him. Similarly, in Harrison Bergeron , Harrison lost his temper over his community
and disobeyed the rules, resulting in him having more strength than others. When Harrison was not
pleased by the way he was treated, [He] tore the straps of his handicap harness like wet tissue paper
(4). This quote describes how in both situations, they rebel against the government in an act to try to
change the community. In addition, during both texts the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in The Giver, people are stripped from their emotions and feelings. In the passage, Jonas
father states, Even I voted for Gabriel s release when we had the meeting this afternoon (154). This
demonstrates how Jonas community is emotionless and does not even mind murdering an innocent
baby. However, in Harrison Bergeron , people have emotions but everyone s intelligence level and
physical ability are indistinguishable. For instance, in Harrison Bergeron , George was buzzed with a
sound, His thoughts fled in panic, like bandits from a burglar alarm (1). This proves that people who
are more intelligent than others are buzzed making them forget their thoughts, and as a result capping
their intellect to match everyone else in the community. This is different than The Giver because in
The Giver, people are allowed to use their intellect, but instead, they have no emotions or feelings. In
addition, The Giver s community makes the community feel like everything is perfect and safe. This
differs from the story, Harrison Bergeron , where the society is purposefully depressing and strict in an
attempt to make everyone comply with the

The American Revolution And The Revolution
The American Revolution, think you know everything about? You don t, as much as the soldiers that
fought had a lot of courage, it was the members of the Culper spy Ring that had the most to do with
the victory the Americans had over the British, in the American Revolution. It was ordinary citizens
that saved the revolution and don t get credit for it. Espionage, intelligence was the key to winning the
revolution. With the help of spies, invisible ink, misinformation, codes, ordinary citizens, including
women, and lots of courage the members of the Culper Spy Ring saved the revolution and helped the
founding of America.

use of what was referred to as the sympathetic stain, noting that the ink will not only render. .

publication or book of small value. Another, more common way to use invisible ink in letter, was to
write between the lines and the receiver would use heat in order to read the letter, but with the new ink
you would need another chemical solution to see the message.
While Washington is known for his honesty, he was okay with spreading misinformation, when it
came to fighting the revolution. He told the members of the Culper Ring to exaggerate the fire power
and size of American forces, in their conversations with the loyalists of New York. Washington would

John F Kennedy Camelot Analysis
Jacqueline Kennedy s smiling face shines out from the surface of Andy Warhol s Jackie, embodying
Camelot , the dream of a new American renaissance that accompanied John F. Kennedy s election as
the 35th President of the United States. Warhol based this painting on a press photograph of the First
Lady, taken just hours before an assassin s bullet shattered the dream. The First Lady appears relaxed
and glamorous in this intimate portrait with her pillbox hat and fur collared coat. Marking out this
screen s rare quality, we can clearly see the President over her right shoulder, smiling enthusiastically,
blissfully unaware of the impending tragedy. Warhol seized upon this image, one of many of Jackie
that saturated the media for days and days after the president s death. The media process fascinated
Warhol, as did the ensuing frenzy and demand for national and international grief. He took this image
and, with his unrivalled ability to capture the contemporary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This seminal work remains a masterpiece of Warhol s infatuation with the media and the cult of
celebrity. With Jackie, Warhol adapted the formula he had already tested on Campbell s Soup and
Coca Cola, for use on a celebrity, but in this case one whose image had unprecedented emotional
strength. The president s glamorous widow had the intense sympathies of millions, and the death of
her husband only enshrined her role as a cultural symbol. After John F. Kennedy s death, Jackie
symbolized hope and sympathy for an entire nation, and while Jackie reminds us of his earlier works,
it also creates a complex fusion between emotion and image, between Pop and popularity. Standing on
the brink of his Death and Disaster series, Warhol s portrait of Jackie encapsulates celebrity s
pervasive glare in the midst of personal

Good Life Is The Free Life Essay
In this paper, I will argue that good life is the free life. As Immanuel Kant once said, independence
from being constrained by another s choice, insofar as it can coexist with the someone else s freedom.
I will also argue that the role of the government in helping one live the good life is to protect its
citizens as well as to keep the peace.
Before any arguments are made it is important to understand and state the position that Immanuel
Kant holds for what constitutes the good life and the role of the government in helpings us achieve it.
When it comes to the concept of the good life Kant believes that the highest good for human beings is
acquiring both complete virtue and happiness at the same time. However, it is important to understand
that there is no necessary connection between the two, and it might even lead to opposition. For
example, picture someone who is on a diet and there is a slice of chocolate cake in front of that
person, the right thing to do is to not eat it the cake even though eating the cake would ve made that
person happy. Kant focuses on virtue and what individuals must do to cultivate a virtuous character.
For Kant, virtue is the strength possessed by individuals to resist bodily inclinations and do what is
right. According to Kant this is what differentiate us from animals (bodily desires) and divine beings
(reason). Kant claims that the purpose of human reason is to make us worthy of happiness by helping
us in becoming virtuous. According to

Marketing Methods Of Coca Cola

various marketing methods.
Marketing is the controlling process that recognises, anticipates and gratifies consumer desires
profitably.
Coca Cola is globally recognized drink corporation and manufacturer. The company is best known for
its flagship product Coca Cola which over the years has evolved in order to keep up with the latest
consumer trends and demands. Coca Cola strategically reinvents to respond to the marketing itself.
Often criticized for its lack of diligence in maintaining a tagline, changing with the times is a part of
the company s strategy. Not every brand needs to reinvent themselves as frequently as Coca Cola

Market Penetration
Market penetration is when a firm pursues to attain growth with current products in their present
market segments, aiming to increase its market share. An example of this with Coca Cola is their
Share a coke scheme. In 2013, Coca Cola replaced its iconic brand name with 150 common names e.g.
Dan, Laura. The aim of this campaign is to encourage consumers to go out to stores and find their
name on a bottle and to share a coke with their friends, family and loved ones.
Product Development
Product development is when a firm seeks to gain growth by targeting its existing products to new
market segments. An example of this with Coca Cola is vanilla coke. Having had a successful launch
in America, Coca Cola decided to launch its new Vanilla flavoured version in Great Britain. Prior to
doing so, Coca Cola carried out taste tests and developed the graphical look of the Diet Coke brand.
When they did this, they took great care to incorporate aspects of the Coca Cola brand, but still
differentiating it so consumers would see it as an alternative to Coke.

Market development is when a

Themes Of Avatar
In the 21st century, movies present a platform for ideas and themes to be conveyed through a screen.
Themes of change, environmental crisis, love, and death are all only a few of the most common
themes that circulate through the Hollywood film industry. According to Annalee Newitz in her essay
When Will White People Stop Making Movies Like Avatar? , a recurring theme she s noticed is the
theme of white guilt. In her essay, Newitz depicts the movie Avatar as nothing more than a colorful
rehash of this (apparently) common white guilt scenario. This is where the main white protagonist
leaves the oppressive (white) side to join the oppressed native side upon seeing the error of his ways.
Some Americans, including Newitz, believe that movies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, when Jake Sully became their leader so to speak, he had already submitted himself to the
Na vi life and made sure to prove his strength as a Na vi, not as a white man. His intention at that
point of the movie was not even to take over as the tribe leader, but rather just to lead his new family
to fight for their land. Another white fantasy observation Newitz makes in her essay is that the white
protagonist always becomes the savior. This is hardly the truth in the Avatar s case. Throughout the
film, Jake is rescued by Neytiri and the Na vi numerous times. Even after the final battle is over, it is
Neytiri who saves his life when he begins to suffocate in his human form. Also, rather than Jake
saving the day during the final battle, the film focuses on the fact that Jake is unable to combat the
opposing side single handedly, and can only succeed with the aid of his Na vi brethren. In other words,
rather than the white man saving the day, it was the teamwork of his native friends that made the win
possible. Admittedly, the start of the movie illustrates the concept of one species (the humans)
infiltrating another s (The Navi s) homeland. This was purposeful, as the producer James Cameron
wanted to represent the way Europeans invaded Native American lands many years ago. However, this
historical correlation was not created based on racial matters, but rather to show the negative effects of
imperialism. James Cameron told The

Social And Economic Policy Decisions Impact Income Equality
Social and economic policy decisions impact income equality, which has an effect on the health of
Canadians. Those with lower incomes are directly affected while income inequality affects the health
of all Canadians through weakening of social structure (Raphael, 2002). Contrary to reports of rising
net worth, a new report has been released by an Ottawa based think tank to show Canada s inequality
problem. The top 10 percent of Canadians have seen their net worth grow by 42% since 2005 to 2.1
million in 2012. However, the bottom 10 percent saw their net worth shrink by 150 percent (Flavelle,
2014). With this new report, it challenges the idea that suggests Canadians are getting wealthier
laterally (Flavelle, 2014). This paper will examine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the reduction of deaths from infectious diseases such as influenza, diphtheria and
typhoid were due to improvements in general living conditions rather than medical cures (Raphael,
2002) It is hypothesized that lifestyle differences are the reasons for the incidence of stroke, heart
disease and cancer.
Health and Poverty
Vulnerable populations including immigrants, Aboriginal peoples, single parent families and the
elderly make up a growing percentage of the lower extreme of the socioeconomic scale (Turnbull, J.
Podymow T, 2002). While we are quick to consider the costs of aiding the poor, we rarely consider the
costs that poverty and income inequality inflict on our society. To achieve improved health, it is
critical to improve income security through good jobs, income supports and fairer taxes (Barnes et al.,
2013).
There are two broad strategies that focus on alleviating the effects of poverty on health: 1) directly
reducing poverty and socio economic inequality 2) intervening in pathways connecting poverty and
health. These interventions have been identified as upstream and downstream. Downstream policies
refer to those that have an explicit health purpose and tend to be targeted at those that are already
suffering from increased health risk, while upstream refers to the wider influences on health
inequalities such as income distribution, education and housing. While these approaches fall

the brain that deal with cognitive functions which include memory.Although many studies have been

The English Language During The Civil Rights Movement
In our society, the English language has evolved over time and certain words have grown to have
different meanings. Overtime the language shifts. A word would have the same letters for 50 years but
different definitions throughout the time period also known as the semantic change. One such word is
the word wasp . Most commonly referring to the pest that flies around in our backyards that sting us
and leaves us with quite the mark. But this was not the case after the American Civil War up in the
1860 s until the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960 s. The meaning wasp at the time referred to a
White Anglo Saxon Protestant that was also most commonly used for the members of the hate group
known as the Ku Klux Klan (KKK). A WASP is known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The words do not change in their initiative meanings but change in a means that they attain other
meanings or are used to refer to other named objects over time. For example, the word mouse is used
to refer to tiny long tailed animal however, it is now also used to refer to a device used to rheostat
cursor movement. The alteration of meaning occurs because words are constantly used and what is
intended by speakers is not exactly the same each time. If a different intention for a word is shared by
the speech community and becomes established in usage, then a semantic change has occurred.
(Malkiel, Yakov). Overtime, the KKK member population has declined due to alternating historical
events. Along with the group, the word WASP has changed also. In the modern time, WASP is used to
simply describe upper class white people. The problem with this is that the same word that was used
in the late 1800s to describe an extremely racist, violent, and unethical group is also now used to
describe a general group of people who are in no way affiliated with former Another problem is that
the term does not seem to be incorrect use. Unlike the term ASP being used today, an Angelo Saxon
protestant is from lower middle class England, particularly East Anglia, in the early 1600s. Some, like
the Puritans, came to North America because they opposed the Church of England. (Abagond). . The
term WASP does represent Angelo Saxon, which were people who inhibited Great Britain from the 5th
century (Encyclopedia Britannica), but it used incorrectly to describe a specific group with a negative

Social Labeling Theory Essay
Labeling theory emerged during the mid 1960s and into the early 1970s due to the United States
experiencing a rapid social change caused by economic and political conflict. Labeling theory focuses
on the role social labeling has on the development of crime and deviance. The theory stresses how an
individual who has been labeled as deviant from societal norms might initiate them to continue their
involvement in crime and deviance. Deviant behavior can be defined as conduct that is disapproved by
the public and is typically subject to some form of sanction. In simpler terms, deviant behavior is
socially constructed.
The roots of labeling theory can be traced back as early as 1902 to Cooley s looking glass theory on
the self, which simply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This concept referred to formal sanctions. It defined the youth s behavior as evil and extended to the
individual involved, characterizing him or her as evil too (Johannes Knutsson, 1977). Mead was an
innovator of symbolic interactionism and believed an individual s self awareness was created through
interaction with their environment. Theorist Edwin Lemert further developed this idea by explaining
how labeling affects criminality and recidivism among those who are categorized as deviant. His
theoretical approach distinguishes between primary and secondary deviance. Primary deviance
referred to individuals who commit nonviolent behaviors, sometimes referred to as rule breakers. It
should be noted that an individual does not reach this level of primary deviance unless they are caught
and labeled. When an individual is stigmatized and treated as deviant, they began to identity
themselves with groups who also labeled, resulting in them adjusting their behavior to fit this identity
as deviant. For Lemert, secondary deviance exists when an individual chooses to accept and employ to
their deviant status, committing more frequently and more violent crimes. However, criminologists
began to

The relationship between these two macroeconomic variables i.e. stock prices and exchange rates has
attracted the minds of economists since they both are very important determinants of the development
of a country s economy. Volatility in exchange rate is a major cause of macroeconomic ambiguity that
affects firms. After the 1970 s, the High rise in international trade and implementation of floating
exchange rate establishment by many countries led to increase exchange rate volatility. Pakistani
currency Rupee was linked with the British Pound Sterling before 1970s. In 1971, Pakistan linked its
currency to the U.S. Dollar due to apparent economic development of USA. During the past ten years,
Pakistan s foreign exchange system has been moving towards a floated and market oriented direction.
Now, Pakistan is maintaining a floating exchange rate with government managed to some extent. Firm
s exposure to exchange rate risk increased due to under these circumstances.
In the literature we identify three types of exposure under floating exchange rate system; economic,
translation and transaction. Translation and transaction exposure are accounting based and explained
in terms of the book values of assets and liabilities denominate in foreign currency value. Economic
exposure is the sensitivity of company value to exchange rate fluctuation. At the corporate level,

Faith In Young Goodman Brown
In the story Young Goodman Brown, Nathaniel Hawthorne fills the plot with suspense and mystery
that keeps the reader focused on the main question. What does the devil worship in the forest, the loss
of Goodman Brown s faith, and the hidden lives of the characters actually mean? Hawthorne uses
symbolism to present to the reader that a strong faith is the greatest virtue a man or woman, who
regardless how good they are, can have; and when that faith is lost or lessened, as Michael Tritt agrees
in Young Goodman Brown and the Psychology of Projection, it can have detrimental and cynical
effects on a person that can cloud their view of society.

The first interaction Goodman Brown has when he returns to Salem is with the good old minister. The
minister bestowed a blessing on Goodman Brown which he shrank from the venerable saint, as if to
avoid an anathema. (270) Brown feels that the minister is trying to curse him instead of blessing him.
This is a sign of doubt Goodman Brown has towards his peers. Perhaps the minister was trying to
bless him because Goodman Brown was already cursed; Brown is oblivious to his own evil. Agreeing
with Michael Tritt in Young Goodman Brown and the Psychology of Projection, he writes about how
the forest experience showed the evil of his neighbors, it also depicted his own evil. Tritt uses the
instance where Goody Cloyse, that excellent old Christian, stood in the early sunshine, at her own
lattice, catechizing a little girl, who had brought her a pint of morning s milk. Goodman Brown
snatched away the child, as from the grasp of the fiend himself. Tritt questions, How can we explain
this action? Why would he snatch the child from one fiend to yield her to yet another, namely himself?
Brown believes that he is not evil or maybe less evil than others in the community to do such a thing.
Towards the end of the story, Hawthorne writes of Goodman Brown s experience at church and how
Goodman Brown turned pale, dreading, lest the roof should thunder down upon the gray blasphemer
and his hearers. (271) Although this proves that Goodman Brown s faith still remained, he did not hold
church service with high esteem but, rather worthless. His spitefulness towards society and disregard
for his own evils left him an empty man that merely existed for a long

Taylor did treat people like machines as he worked them as hard as possible, leaving them with no
energy at the end of the day for leisure activities. His stop watch techniques making sure they met the
time goals resulted in the feeling of a large amount of pressure.
Taylor s personality was of being a meticulous and Machiavellian, obsessive about details and
overbearing. He was therefore one of the worst types of people to have as a manager is a very
meticulous person as he was be very demanding and never pleased with the work. Taylor used what
many people call a Theory X style of management, one that threats employees poorly and like
machines. He assumed that people had of no initiative their own to work hard and were only capable
of what they were during then and nothing else.
To fully understand how poorly Taylor implemented his theory, one only needs to look at the
companies he worked at; Bethlehem Steel is a prime example under Taylor s management.
Each task had an instruction card, which laid everything out in black and white and eliminated the
need for the employees to think, and each task was figured out to the fraction of a second, which wore
out employees faster than other systems this is not the life that people want to work for. While the
Taylor system did pay more, employees did not feel that the money didn t compensated for the other
problems that they endured.

Yharnam Research Paper
The city of Yharnam, a place of healing and miracles, is the destination of many foreign travellers
seeking blood healing. The legend says that some type of sacred blood is used to help cure any type of
ailment. And so it is that many travellers set sail to seek the sacred city and its great cathedral.
In the beginning, the city was ruled by the royal family in Cainhurst. The castle was accessible only
through a bridge that connects to Hemwick, a small village by the west of Yharnam. The royal family
ruled for many years and with the help of the biggest academy in the region, Bergenwerth, they
managed to make great discoveries, thus advancing science and healing. Bergenwerth, which was

Albeit differing on the method to use, both longed for humankind s evolution into another realm, into
godhood itself. The discovery of the tombs of the gods below the city had started an evolutionary
movement within the academy. Their theory was that ancient beings inhabited the city of Yharnam
beforehand and had managed to make contact with greater beings called the Great Ones . Great Ones
were worshipped as Gods and used to communicate with the Pthumerians, the ancient inhabitants of
the city of Yharnam. That communication with the Great Ones allowed the Pthumerians to ascend to a
new level of existence, enhancing their physical abilities and allowing them to use powers akin to
magic, arcane powers. Furthermore, an average Pthumerian could live longer than humans by a long
stretch. Evidence of that was provided when scholars encountered few of them during their numerous
tomb excavations. Pthumerians have become only shells, serving to guard the tombs where the gods
are buried. Killing one of them takes immense power and reflexes. Many scholars had lost their lives

The Power Of Desire In A P By John Updike
Within the story A P by John Updike, the main character Sammy is portrayed as a shy optimistic
young teenager working at a grocery store. But a sudden life changing event happens and Sammy
takes charge just as anyone else would. Three pretty young girls walk into the grocery store, in only
bathing suits, just as any guy would feel the urge to stare or even talk to them, he takes action by
sticking up for them as they are getting thrown out of the store resulting in him quitting his job. This
action we see would be the power of desire which is the theme throughout this story. In society today
we tend to see lots of people especially teens afraid to stick up for what they believe in. With the
power of desire, it builds up confidence, shows maturity in the coming of ages, and it even proves you
can do what you believe in. If everyone had this much confidence like Sammy, our world may be a
stronger place. Being confident is very essential in life and it is something many people tend to lack
for many reasons. Some could be self conscious in physical appearance or even believe they are not
good enough. This strong confidence is strongly shown in the story based on the girl s appearances.
For example, The sheep pushing their carts down the aisle the girls were walking against the usual
traffic (not that we have one way signs or anything) were pretty hilarious. You could see them, when
Queenie s white shoulders dawned on them, kind of jerk, or hop, or hiccup, but their eyes

How Does Euthyphro Kill His Father
A relationship between a father and his child is one of the most sacred bonds to have growing up.
Some people do not have to fortunate of having such a thing. Other people have fathers that do terrible
things (such as murder, rape, or stealing) to either others or themselves.
While this author believes that Euthyphro willing to prosecute his father for murder is quite justifiable,
Agamemnon s actions are not. Although both stories involve murder, one is deliberate (sacrifice for
war), while the other is unintentional (involuntary manslaughter). Euthyphro brings up the point that it
does not matter if a victim is a relative or stranger; justice should be served. What he says seems
logical. One can hope to assume that yes, he loves (or tolerates)

African Americans Should Be Banned Essay
Although the CITES banned the poaching of Asian and African elephants and international trade in the
mid 1980 s, many organizations have been posting anti ivory trade promotion on their website (Stiles,

To be sincere I never thought about it. What is the appendix?
The appendix is a pouch the size of a finger part of the large intestine and placed in the lower right
abdomen. It is not yet fully understood its operation, although some theories suggest that it plays a
secondary role in the immune system, is the widespread view that it is totally unnecessary. The
removal of the appendix does not seem to have any effect on a person s health. What causes
appendicitis? Obstruction of the lumen (the inside of the Appendix) can cause appendicitis. The mucus
produced recedes into the lumen causing the multiplication of bacteria normally found in the
appendix. The consequence is that the appendix swells and becomes infected.
Sources of obstruction can be: feces, parasites, abnormal growth of the lymphatic tissue (for example
due to the Crohn s disease), foreign bodies or stones (grapes, cherries, peppers) tumors. An inflamed
appendix probably burst if not removed. Bursting would spread the infection throughout the abdomen,
causing peritonitis.
To whom it may happen? All subjects can be appendicitis, but is most common in people between 10
and 30 years of age.
What are the symptoms of appendicitis? Most people with appendicitis classic symptoms that any
doctor can easily identify. The main symptom is abdominal pain, usually sudden, often inducing a
person to wake up at night: you hear

The widow Douglas adopted and tried to civilize Huck. The two sisters , one redeeming quality is
their concern for Huck, which, though it possesses moralistic overtones, includes an element of
sincerity, giving them some patience in dealing with the uncivilized Huck. Other than this, the sisters
role is to represent the artificial, empty civilization to which Huck rejects. As much as the widow
Douglass tries to adopt conventional religion upon Huck, he continues to reject it. Before every meal
the widow told Huck he had to say grace. Huck referred to this as having to grumble over the food
before they could eat it (14). She tried to teach him about Moses, until Huck found out Moses was

both try to socialize Huck into a good boy. Huck was going stir crazy, made especially restless by the

Homer should choose Hector to deliver this message rather than an unimportant character; Homer
uses it as a devise to develop Hector and make him a more (if not the most) sympathetic character. He
shows his contrasting sides; his family oriented side as opposed to the cruel warrior. The interaction

Americanization also works to assimilate the rest of the world to perceive our standard of living
superior, but attainable. Just as foreign nations are encouraged to adopt a capitalistic approach in their
markets, foreign women are encouraged to adopt our definition of beauty. While American women
struggle to maintain a desired weight, foreign women struggle to exhibit American qualities (Derenne,
M.D., and Beresin, M.D.). Cosmo Magazine is an example of this trend exemplifying the fun, fearless

Cologne Guitar Town
Sponsored by The Gibson Foundation, Guitar Town is a famous event where a town is filled with huge
guitar sculptures replicas of Gibson most famous models. The event also includes special concerts,
workshops, lectures and get together with guitar legends. So far, this event only once came to Europe,
was in London 2007.
After the exhibition of the guitars, they enter in an auction and the money generated is given to social
causes.
Gibson wishes to do such a program in Cologne. The need to enter and gain customer proximity in the
European market makes this an excellent choice and so, Gibson is seeking a partnership with Music
Store in order to bring the event to Cologne. Also, is important to state that joining both brands in such
invent is a way to Gibson generates a strategic position near a major retailer in Europe.
Special Productions
As previous stated, although Music Store has in its catalogue several products from Gibson, truth is,
Gibson isn t in the best sellers list. The main reason identified for that is probably the premium
position that Gibson has. Their Guitars are priced above the regular and most sold guitars in the store.
In order to invert this tendency, it may be possible to create a special line just for Europe and have the
launching fully dedicated to Music Store for a pre determined set of time. This way it could be price
controlled, targeting an European Market that is investing less in premium

Comparing Bartleby, The Scrivener And The Overcoat
In both Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener and Nikolai Gogol s The Overcoat, the reader is
given insight about the different workings society has on two copyists. Both, Akaky and Bartleby
make a living off copying papers, and can be considered as the heros of their stories. Though, both of
their mannerisms are out of place and foolish in their given society; the authors display different
settings, character arcs, and motivations to showcase the slow burn psychological and physical effects
society has on the protagonist. Even though Bartleby s passive nature in a capitalist dominant

Similarly to Bartleby, in The Overcoat, Akaky Akakievich is a copyist who went about his work
mindlessly. Gogol depicts Akaky as an outlier among his peers, and deemed to be the only clerk who

His current overcoat is ridiculed and mockingly called a peignoir by his fellow clerks (Gogol 315).
The arc shifts when his tailor, Petrovich, makes him a new overcoat from cheap material that

how his peers view him. However, he is robbed of his coat on the way home from his Chief Assistant

failed attempts with different people, he tries his luck with the Very Important Person who put the nail

18 19). Lincoln grew up dirt poor in the bare Kentucky frontier, his mother dying when he was nine
years old, and his father having a paltry, insignificant relationship with the young Abraham. Lincoln
quoted Thomas Gray s poem, Elegy, when describing the conditions of his youth, The short and
simple annals of the poor. (pg. 20). As soon as he could, he sought independence from his father and
began life on his own. He eventually settled in New Salem, Illinois where he joined the Debating
Society. As Foote puts it, though at first the charter members snickered at his looks and awkwardness,
presently they were admiring the logic and conciseness of his arguments (pg. 22). One member of the
society claimed all he lacked was culture (pg. 22). Lincoln was respected for his intelligence, but
derided for his social skills and poor background. Certainly this part of Lincoln s life is of the least
importance, but it serves a purpose for Foote, who aims to portray Lincoln in a more vulnerable part
of his life, when he wasn t revered like he would later be, but viewed with pity as a backwoods hick.
This serves as a shock to the reader, disarming us of any romantic notions we have of Lincoln s early
life. Lincoln unquestionably developed into one of the most remarkable men to ever live, but, as Foote
shows us, it took him awhile to reach that status. Alongside politics, Lincoln made a name for himself

Some people in the United States believe that Christopher Columbus was an evil man who just
waltzed into the Indies and took advantage of its indigenous people. In fact, Los Angeles, California
just officially changed Columbus Day in the city calendar to Indigenous Peoples Day. They were not
the first to change it however, Denver, Albuquerque, and Seattle have all changed the holiday to
Indigenous People s Day.
Los Angeles made the big change in honor of those who were killed when he and his men brought
themselves to the western world. The activists who brought this issue to light believe that Christopher
Columbus is a worldwide symbol of genocide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there were some people groups, like the Italian Americans, who did not agree with the city s
actions. The Italo Americans were not pleased with the city s decision to change the famous holiday.
The Italian American people felt that yes, there should be at holiday to celebrate the Native People of
America, but that holiday should not replace one that was established in the late 1930s.
They feel that taking this holiday away from the Italian American community was rude and not
thoughtful. Even with all the complaining of the Italian American community, Los Angeles, California
has stuck to their newly founded city holiday. Although some may not agree with it, to most of
America, the second Monday in October will always be Columbus Day, whether people like it or not.
You can change a holiday in one city, but it cannot change it everywhere

Review for Anthoropology Essay
Know the approximate time boundary between prehistory and history and what development it is
based on. Archaeologists define prehistory as that portion of human history that extends back some 2.5

Relationship Between Fertility Rates and Education...
Introduction
It has come to our attention that in developed countries the birth rate has been decreasing with the
years. This trend is however not limited to developed countries but is also present in emerging
countries, like Mexico. One of the main reasons for this decline is said to be the postponement of
marriage among young people. Obtaining a higher education could lead young women to remain
unmarried in their twenties. Increasing possibilities to achieve a higher education and therefore
working in an appealing job has become increasingly attractive to young women. This change in
values also contributed to the increase in unmarried singles in their twenties. However, it is also
possible that the influence of one s family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rates above two children indicate populations are growing in size and the median age is declining.
Higher rates may also indicate difficulties for families, in some situations, to feed and educate their
children and for women to enter the labor force. Rates below two children indicate populations are
decreasing in size and growing older. Global fertility rates are in general declining and this trend is
mostly predominant in industrialized countries, especially Western Europe, where populations are
projected to decline dramatically over the next 50 years.
Description of the Procedures Used
The purpose of this section is to describe the course of action of the study and to specify the steps
taken.
In order to answer the research question in an appropriate way, it was first needed to do intensive
research in the internet in order to obtain relevant data. The pages consulted were INEGI and Index
Mundi. On these pages it was possible to collect data regarding the birth rate, the fertility rate and the
level of education. The next step was to convert the data into tables and graphs, describe them and to
provide some background information in order to make the data clearer. Furthermore, one can already
see at first sight how the fertility rate and level of education are developing at first sight.
In order to tackle the question (Whether there is a relation between the increase in the level of
education and the decline in the

Summary Of All Over Let s Eat By Dave Barry
Politics is a dangerous topic: minefields to the left and right, shrapnel everywhere, and often the best
opinion is no opinion. Dave Barry in Now That s It s All Over, Let s Eat! approaches the modern
American political apathy with a cynical eye. In 2012, before the second election of Barak Obama,
Americans were feeling a lack of faith in the political system. The Democrats were demonizing Mitt
Romney and the Republicans were bad mouthing Obama. Barry says that the American response to all
this drama should be to go watch football.
In the article, Barry has three observations about current political life: that both parties are filled with
less than bright politicians (who bill themselves as geniuses or at least as well informed), street
protests such as the march on Wall Street are honestly not very effective, and that there is no fun in
politics anymore and no one has a sense of humor.
I know that before I go on a trip that I always check the weather, because I have been stuck on
vacation in miserable weather too many times. The author gives the example of the Republican
convention in Florida during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
stupid. Barry relates the story of driving through Tampa, when two people wearing furry pig suits say
that they are trying to convert people to veganism. His mental response was not thoughts of meatless
meals but of these people are insane, I could go for some barbeque. The author also shares his belief in
the inefficacy of shouting in large groups. Occupy Wall Street was a prime example of this mentality. I
do sympathize with many of their aims, because I am definitely one of the 99%. However, when they
did a months long protest in Philadelphia at City Hall, I went home the long way around because the
protesters came across as dangerous and possibly unstable. As the late Terry Pratchett said, The
intelligence of that creature known as a crowd is the square root of the number of people in

Characteristics InStreet Scene, By Ian Frazier
Narrative Assignment
Narrative writers use many different techniques to describe and enhance the theme and/or main idea of
their story. TO make the plot as realistic as possible, authors use imagery and other figurative
language to help the reader better imagine the story. Hyperboles, metaphors, and irony can also be
used to prove a point and make the story more humorous or suspenseful.
3 Stories Using these Characteristics
The narrative Street Scene by the author Ian Frazier uses vivid imagery and excellent dialogue to help
better immerse the reader in the story. A great example of this would be when he describes the people
helping save the victim in a very detailed way, proven by the quote; A slight, brown haired woman
was giving her mouth to mouth resuscitation, while a well built brown skinned man with hair close
cropped like a skullcap was performing chest massage. Using imagery like this can allow the reader to
feel like they are in the action, and imagine the situation in their head exactly how it is told in the
story.
Shooting an Elephant by George Orwell uses imagery as well, describing not only his surrounding but
his thoughts in superb detail as well. He also uses suspense techniques to keep the reader interested in
the story. One such example of him describing his thoughts in detail would be . I thought then and I
think now that his attack of must was already passing off; in which case he would merely wander
harmlessly about until the mahout came

Though schools take many steps to protect students, pupils still report that drugs are made accessible to them on school property, schools combine document that nearly 2 million crimes were reported to them, and many students still feel unsafe (violence in U.S. public schools). Similarities Between The Giver And Harrison Bergeron Throughout the texts, The Giver by Lois Lowry and Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., both communities are striving toward total equality among the people. These two texts share many similarities and differences. For example, Jonas decides to run away from his community with the memories given to him. Similarly, in Harrison Bergeron , Harrison lost his temper over his community and disobeyed the rules, resulting in him having more strength than others. When Harrison was not pleased by the way he was treated, [He] tore the straps of his handicap harness like wet tissue paper (4). However, in Harrison Bergeron , people have emotions but everyone s intelligence level and physical ability are indistinguishable. For instance, in Harrison Bergeron , George was buzzed with a sound, His thoughts fled in panic, like bandits from a burglar alarm (1). This proves that people who are more intelligent than others are buzzed making them forget their thoughts, and as a result capping their intellect to match everyone else in the community. This is different than The Giver because in The Giver, people are allowed to use their intellect, but instead, they have no emotions or feelings. In addition, The Giver s community makes the community feel like everything is perfect and safe. John F Kennedy Camelot Analysis Jacqueline Kennedy s smiling face shines out from the surface of Andy Warhol s Jackie, embodying Camelot , the dream of a new American renaissance that accompanied John F. Kennedy s election as the 35th President of the United States. Warhol based this painting on a press photograph of the First Lady, taken just hours before an assassin s bullet shattered the dream. The First Lady appears relaxed and glamorous in this intimate portrait with her pillbox hat and fur collared coat. Marking out this screen s rare quality, we can clearly see the President over her right shoulder, smiling enthusiastically, blissfully unaware of the impending tragedy. • 9. Good Life Is The Free Life Essay In this paper, I will argue that good life is the free life. As Immanuel Kant once said, independence from being constrained by another s choice, insofar as it can coexist with the someone else s freedom. I will also argue that the role of the government in helping one live the good life is to protect its citizens as well as to keep the peace. Before any arguments are made it is important to understand and state the position that Immanuel Kant holds for what constitutes the good life and the role of the government in helpings us achieve it. When it comes to the concept of the good life Kant believes that the highest good for human beings is acquiring both complete virtue and happiness at the same time. However, it is important to understand that there is no necessary connection between the two, and it might even lead to opposition. For example, picture someone who is on a diet and there is a slice of chocolate cake in front of that person, the right thing to do is to not eat it the cake even though eating the cake would ve made that person happy. Kant focuses on virtue and what individuals must do to cultivate a virtuous character. For Kant, virtue is the strength possessed by individuals to resist bodily inclinations and do what is right. According to Kant this is what differentiate us from animals (bodily desires) and divine beings (reason). Kant claims that the purpose of human reason is to make us worthy of happiness by helping us in becoming virtuous. According to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Themes Of Avatar In the 21st century, movies present a platform for ideas and themes to be conveyed through a screen. Themes of change, environmental crisis, love, and death are all only a few of the most common themes that circulate through the Hollywood film industry. According to Annalee Newitz in her essay When Will White People Stop Making Movies Like Avatar? , a recurring theme she s noticed is the theme of white guilt. In her essay, Newitz depicts the movie Avatar as nothing more than a colorful rehash of this (apparently) common white guilt scenario. This is where the main white protagonist leaves the oppressive (white) side to join the oppressed native side upon seeing the error of his ways. His intention at that point of the movie was not even to take over as the tribe leader, but rather just to lead his new family to fight for their land. Another white fantasy observation Newitz makes in her essay is that the white protagonist always becomes the savior. This is hardly the truth in the Avatar s case. Throughout the film, Jake is rescued by Neytiri and the Na vi numerous times. Even after the final battle is over, it is Neytiri who saves his life when he begins to suffocate in his human form. Also, rather than Jake saving the day during the final battle, the film focuses on the fact that Jake is unable to combat the opposing side single handedly, and can only succeed with the aid of his Na vi brethren. In other words, rather than the white man saving the day, it was the teamwork of his native friends that made the win possible. Admittedly, the start of the movie illustrates the concept of one species (the humans) infiltrating another s (The Navi s) homeland. Social Labeling Theory Essay Labeling theory emerged during the mid 1960s and into the early 1970s due to the United States experiencing a rapid social change caused by economic and political conflict. Labeling theory focuses on the role social labeling has on the development of crime and deviance. The theory stresses how an individual who has been labeled as deviant from societal norms might initiate them to continue their involvement in crime and deviance. Deviant behavior can be defined as conduct that is disapproved by the public and is typically subject to some form of sanction. In simpler terms, deviant behavior is socially constructed. The roots of labeling theory can be traced back as early as 1902 to Cooley s looking glass theory on the self, which simply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This concept referred to formal sanctions. It defined the youth s behavior as evil and extended to the individual involved, characterizing him or her as evil too (Johannes Knutsson, 1977). Mead was an innovator of symbolic interactionism and believed an individual s self awareness was created through interaction with their environment. Theorist Edwin Lemert further developed this idea by explaining how labeling affects criminality and recidivism among those who are categorized as deviant. His theoretical approach distinguishes between primary and secondary deviance. Primary deviance referred to individuals who commit nonviolent behaviors, sometimes referred to as rule breakers. It should be noted that an individual does not reach this level of primary deviance unless they are caught and labeled. When an individual is stigmatized and treated as deviant, they began to identity themselves with groups who also labeled, resulting in them adjusting their behavior to fit this identity as deviant. For Lemert, secondary deviance exists when an individual chooses to accept and employ to their deviant status, committing more frequently and more violent crimes. However, criminologists began to ... What does the devil worship in the forest, the loss of Goodman Brown s faith, and the hidden lives of the characters actually mean? Hawthorne uses symbolism to present to the reader that a strong faith is the greatest virtue a man or woman, who regardless how good they are, can have; and when that faith is lost or lessened, as Michael Tritt agrees in Young Goodman Brown and the Psychology of Projection, it can have detrimental and cynical effects on a person that can cloud their view of society. The minister bestowed a blessing on Goodman Brown which he shrank from the venerable saint, as if to avoid an anathema. Perhaps the minister was trying to bless him because Goodman Brown was already cursed; Brown is oblivious to his own evil. Agreeing with Michael Tritt in Young Goodman Brown and the Psychology of Projection, he writes about how the forest experience showed the evil of his neighbors, it also depicted his own evil. Tritt uses the instance where Goody Cloyse, that excellent old Christian, stood in the early sunshine, at her own lattice, catechizing a little girl, who had brought her a pint of morning s milk. Goodman Brown snatched away the child, as from the grasp of the fiend himself. Tritt questions, How can we explain this action? Why would he snatch the child from one fiend to yield her to yet another, namely himself? Brown believes that he is not evil or maybe less evil than others in the community to do such a thing. Towards the end of the story, Hawthorne writes of Goodman Brown s experience at church and how Goodman Brown turned pale, dreading, lest the roof should thunder down upon the gray blasphemer and his hearers. The appendix is a pouch the size of a finger part of the large intestine and placed in the lower right abdomen. It is not yet fully understood its operation, although some theories suggest that it plays a secondary role in the immune system, is the widespread view that it is totally unnecessary. The removal of the appendix does not seem to have any effect on a person s health. What causes appendicitis? Obstruction of the lumen (the inside of the Appendix) can cause appendicitis. The mucus produced recedes into the lumen causing the multiplication of bacteria normally found in the appendix. The consequence is that the appendix swells and becomes infected. Sources of obstruction can be: feces, parasites, abnormal growth of the lymphatic tissue (for example due to the Crohn s disease), foreign bodies or stones (grapes, cherries, peppers) tumors. An inflamed appendix probably burst if not removed. Bursting would spread the infection throughout the abdomen, causing peritonitis. To whom it may happen? All subjects can be appendicitis, but is most common in people between 10 and 30 years of age. What are the symptoms of appendicitis? The German word werwolf is recorded by Burchard von Worms in the 11th century, and by Bertold of Regensburg in the 13th, but is not recorded in all of medieval German poetry or fiction. As soon as he could, he sought independence from his father and began life on his own. He eventually settled in New Salem, Illinois where he joined the Debating Society. As Foote puts it, though at first the charter members snickered at his looks and awkwardness, presently they were admiring the logic and conciseness of his arguments (pg. 22). One member of the society claimed all he lacked was culture (pg. 22). Lincoln was respected for his intelligence, but derided for his social skills and poor background. Certainly this part of Lincoln s life is of the least importance, but it serves a purpose for Foote, who aims to portray Lincoln in a more vulnerable part of his life, when he wasn t revered like he would later be, but viewed with pity as a backwoods hick. This trend is however not limited to developed countries but is also present in emerging countries, like Mexico. One of the main reasons for this decline is said to be the postponement of marriage among young people. Obtaining a higher education could lead young women to remain unmarried in their twenties. Dave Barry in Now That s It s All Over, Let s Eat! approaches the modern American political apathy with a cynical eye. In 2012, before the second election of Barak Obama, Americans were feeling a lack of faith in the political system. The Democrats were demonizing Mitt Romney and the Republicans were bad mouthing Obama. Barry says that the American response to all this drama should be to go watch football. In the article, Barry has three observations about current political life: that both parties are filled with less than bright politicians (who bill themselves as geniuses or at least as well informed), street protests such as the march on Wall Street are honestly not very effective, and that there is no fun in politics anymore and no one has a sense of humor.
