The presentation describes a tool for validating and previewing instances of Schema.org JobPosting described in structured data markup embedded in web pages. The validator and preview was developed to assist users of Schema.org to produce data of better quality. In this way, it tries to enhance usability of a part of Schema.org covering the domain of job postings. The paper discusses implementation of the tool and design of its validation rules based on SPARQL 1.1. Results of experimental validation of a job posting corpus harvested from the Web are presented. Among other findings, the results indicate that publishers of Schema.org JobPosting data often misunderstand precedence rules employed by markup parsers and that they ignore case-sensitivity of vocabulary names.

ePADD is a software package developed by Stanford University's Special Collections & University Archives that supports archival processes around the appraisal, ingest, processing, discovery, and delivery of email archives. As service providers and primary code contributors in the Islandora Community, discoverygarden encounters customers who are ingesting, accessing, and storing high volumes of data. For example, a customer who had 150,000 objects in 2012 now has three million objects and expectations to grow to five million in the very short term. This is increasingly common.
As repositories grow in size they can encounter poor performance, particularly during large ingests and derivative generation. To accommodate growing repositories caching mechanisms, infrastructure changes, and code updates are necessary.
The presentation will explore customer case studies that demonstrate interim solutions and the extensive, ongoing research and development to find long-term solutions.
NSW Open Data Challenge: Data Request ServiceCofluence
This document proposes a better, faster, and more transparent data request service with two main elements: 1) an information asset register that would include unpublished data and be available on data.nsw, and 2) a transparent request/response service. The goals are to help users understand what data they could request, help agencies prioritize and release data, direct users to alternative mechanisms, and publish responses to create precedents. The information asset register would provide as much metadata as available and allow requesting that data. Requests would be made via data.nsw and directed to the responsible data steward. The whole process would be published with an opt-out option, using an existing tool like Alaveteli. An action plan to implement
The Danish Open Access Indicator was launched in March 2016 to monitor Denmark's national open access strategy. The indicator measures the percentage of scholarly articles published by Danish researchers that are open access, with a goal of 80% in 2017 and 100% in 2022. It analyzes publications harvested from university research databases and repositories, deduplicates them, checks them against indexes like DOAJ and SHERPA/Romeo to determine open access status, and publishes the results on the Danish National Research Database. Upcoming improvements may include checking additional repositories and refining how it calculates open access potential.

A year into the EC FP7 Post-Grant Open Access Pilot, this presentation delivered at the LIBER Annual Conference 2016 in Helsinki shows the current progress of this funding initiative. This Gold OA Pilot has currently two funding worklines, a main one for APC/BPC payments for post-grant manuscripts arising from finished FP7 projects and an alternative funding mechanism for supporting APC-free OA journals and platforms. Detailed figures are provided for the APC payments made so far, together with a number of findings the initiative has already come upon.

DBpedia Spotlight is a system that automatically annotates text documents with DBpedia URIs. Your company has had embedded HR generalists in business units for the past several years. Over that time, it has become more costly and more difficult to maintain standards, and is a frustration for business units to have that budget “hit.” The leadership has decided to move to a more centralized model of delivering HR services and has asked you to evaluate that proposition and begin establishing a project team to initiate the needed changes. The project team is selected, and you must now provide general direction.

Write a 5–6 page paper in which you:
Review and define the five steps of strategic planning depicted in Exhibit 2-1 in the textbook on page 34. Based on the information, provide a statement of overall importance of these steps to your project team.
Develop a vision and mission statement for the project team specific to the current project. Hint: It is highly recommended to follow the guidance offered in the textbook about vision and mission statements.
Explain to the project team what a project charter is and why it is used. Then, review Exhibit 3.3 in the textbook and select any three charter elements you feel are more important and explain why.
Provide a statement of emphasis to your project team based on the information you provided in the previous three sections above. The goal is to ensure your team understands the importance of the information.

There have been, and continue to be, many initiatives to address the social, technological, financial and policy-based challenges that throw up roadblocks towards achieving this vision. However, it is hard to tell whether we are making progress, or whether we are eternally waiting for the hyperloop that will never come. If we are to ever be able to answer research questions that require a broad, international corpus of cultural data, then we need an ecosystem that can be characterized with 5 “C”s: Collaborative, Consistent, Connected, Correct and Contextualized. Each of these has implications for the sustainability, innovation, usability, timeliness and ethical considerations that must be addressed in a coherent and holistic manner. As with autonomous vehicles, technology (and perhaps even machine “intelligence”) is a necessary but insufficient component.
In this presentation, I will frame and motivate this grand challenge and propose where we can build connections between the academy, the cultural heritage sector, and industry. The discussion will explore the issues, and highlight some of the successful endeavors and more approachable opportunities where, together, progress can be made.

We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

In the rapidly evolving landscape of technologies, XML continues to play a vital role in structuring, storing, and transporting data across diverse systems. The recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) present new methodologies for enhancing XML development workflows, introducing efficiency, automation, and intelligent capabilities. This presentation will outline the scope and perspective of utilizing AI in XML development. The potential benefits and the possible pitfalls will be highlighted, providing a balanced view of the subject.
We will explore the capabilities of AI in understanding XML markup languages and autonomously creating structured XML content. Additionally, we will examine the capacity of AI to enrich plain text with appropriate XML markup. Practical examples and methodological guidelines will be provided to elucidate how AI can be effectively prompted to interpret and generate accurate XML markup.
Further emphasis will be placed on the role of AI in developing XSLT, or schemas such as XSD and Schematron. We will address the techniques and strategies adopted to create prompts for generating code, explaining code, or refactoring the code, and the results achieved.
The discussion will extend to how AI can be used to transform XML content. In particular, the focus will be on the use of AI XPath extension functions in XSLT, Schematron, Schematron Quick Fixes, or for XML content refactoring.
The presentation aims to deliver a comprehensive overview of AI usage in XML development, providing attendees with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions. Whether you’re at the early stages of adopting AI or considering integrating it in advanced XML development, this presentation will cover all levels of expertise.
