Constraints Are Vital For Any Type Of Design Project Essay
b. Constraints
Constraints are vital for any type of design project. While you do not want too many of them within
your project, they are inevitable and should be worked around accordingly. Most of the constraints we
will face involve resources and time. We have a limited budget and all of our group members have
busy schedules. While these constraints will conflict with the abstract properties of the system, they
are very important to prepare for during the design process. Thus, we carefully determined and listed
the necessary constraints for our design project shown in Appendix A.
c. Standards
Standards are also a vital engineering requirement that help ensure the health and safety of any
products that are designed, produced, and presented to the market by engineers. Without having a plan
to meet a criteria of standards, your product could be a huge safety hazard and unfit for release. We
identified and described the different standards that influence our design project in Appendix B.
d. Global, Economic, Environmental, and Societal perspective
Looking at our project from a global, environmental, and societal perspective, I d say that it s not
hugely impactful. Mostly due to intended use for this project. It s a training tool used for electrical
engineering students. Thus, will only truly impact that small minority of people. However, it should at
least be economical. Similar systems found online are quite expensive. The development of this
project was relatively cheap

Keller V. Regents Of The University Of California Essay
Keller v. Regents of the University of California There are two questions that this court must answer
today; First, does Keller s speech have First Amendment protections? Second, does the University of
California, Delphi have the ability to restrict such speech? Keller argues that the university violated
his First Amendment rights by attempting to restrict his expression of disfavored views. The university
contends that Keller s actions were disruptive to the learning environment, and thus suspended; not
violating his rights to free speech. To address the first question, Keller had created a political group,
Friends of Liberty, in which the group would stage ask ins at open meetings for other campus
organizations. First, we must address the aspect of an open meeting; these campus organizations were
providing all students with the opportunity for discussion in a public forum. Public for a are the most
important avenue for employing the right to unabridged speech for all United State citizens. to
preserve an uninhibited marketplace of ideas in which truth will ultimately prevail, this aspect of
traditional public for a is a virtue, not a vice. McCullen v. Coakley (2014). This court has held that
public for a are to not be regulated by the government, except in an extremely limited fashion, time
place manner. There were no regulations for time, place, or manner by the university. Keller was fully
within his rights, as a student of the university, to attend the

Athena And Thena Owl Research Paper
There once was a goddess by the name of Athena, Athena was the goddess of wisdom,war/peace and a
very intelligent god. She wore a long white dress with a golden breastplate for armor and would travel
in the form of a owl. So during war if a soldier saw the owl he would forever be protected from
harm, and to the enemy that saw the owl overwhelming fear would swallow them whole sending them
to their knees. While in a time of peace any who sees the owl will have the ability to think clearly,
move freely, and have a increase in their overall strength. As time would progress thena would see
magnificent structures of quartz and gold be built during peace in the majestic city of troy but when
war came all of these amazing building would be torn down

Veertebrate Paleontology
Science itself is a wide field of research and career opportunities. In it, many areas of research are
available for one to choose from. Paleontology is but one of these options, and it encompasses even
more divisions of study. It has numerous subdivisions: micropaleontology, paleobotany, paleoecology,
the list goes on. All of the divisions cover things that once were, and track how things changed over
time to become what they are today, hence the suffix of paleo , which means old or ancient . Despite
the variety of fields available in Paleontology itself, it is not a common choice for careers based in the
field of science in the United States. Trends in paleontology have been compared side by side with
ones in geochemistry and geophysics, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the five eyed, one armed Opabinia reglias was an oddity from the Cambrain era recently
discovered. Yi Qi was discovered in 2015, and it harkens back to the dragon myths of the olden times
with its bat like wings and wyvern esque appearance. Yutyrannus huali shows that larger theropods
could have feathers like the smaller, more well known Velociraptor. Nanuqsaurus showed that
tyrannosaurs lived farther up north than originally anticipated, hence its name of polar bear lizard .
These discoveries continue to rewrite what is known about prehistory by throwing a morphological
monkey wrench into currently accepted theories and ideas. As such, the field must continue to adapt as
new discoveries and creatures are brought to light. New advances in research have given the
paleontologists new insight, and let them more easily bounce back from any ground breaking
discoveries that turn their theories on their heads. Of course, their theories must still be sensible, or
they will otherwise be discredited. David Peters is a perfect example of what not to do when
presenting theories on prehistoric life, and has been completely discredited by the paleontological
community as a

Mlk Civil Disobedience
MLK s Civil Disobedience in Todays World In Martin Luther King, Jr. s Letter from Birmingham Jail,
he discusses the duty of citizens to enact civil disobedience when there are immoral actions or laws
put into place. In accordance with Martin Luther King, Jr. this concept applies to our society today
with the recent presidential election of the United States of America. As Donald Trump has been
elected the President of the United States, there have been various acts of civil disobedience because
millions of individuals do not support him in his presidency. Along with this topic, there are two
distinct questions that need to be answered. First, what is civil disobedience in the eyes of Martin
Luther King, Jr.? Second, are Donald Trump protests ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has been a massive concern for many anti Trump protestors because they believe that Hillary
Clinton should have won because she won the popular vote. Even though Clinton won the popular
vote, Trump won the Electoral College, which is why he was elected President of the United States.
As King stated, We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of
destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly. (King, 1963). This quote applies perfectly
for our countries current status because all of the voters who do not support Trump are tied to him and
his decisions for the next four years. With King s view of civil disobedience, these protestors are not
justified in their protesting of Trump because a process that has been used for hundreds of years
elected him legally. In order for these protestors to civilly disobey in unison with King s views, they
must protest the Electoral College and not the man that the Electoral College elected. Individuals may
not agree with Trump being elected, but until he advocates an immoral political action they must not
protest against him directly. Part of King s beliefs includes him being a Christian and obeying the laws
of the land. For anybody who is elected legally to become President of the United States, those that
follow King s views are subject to obeying the governing authority as they are in accordance with the
laws of God. As King states in his letter, A just law is a man made code that squares with the moral
law, or the law of God. An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law. (King,
1963). This means that it is not justified for anti Trump protestors to protest out of anger that their
candidate of the popular vote did not win because it is in accordance with the authority of the
government, which has been in place for

be ignored. If they are not resolved immediately, our correctional system will begin to spiral out of
control, which could then result in a negative name being given to the system. Also, not only will the
system continue to suffer, but society as a whole. Resolving these issues will not only benefit the
former, current and future offenders, but all the employees of the criminal justice system as well.

Delta Airlines Executive Summary
Delta Airlines has a long history within the aviation industry. Delta Airlines started as a crop dusting
operation, Huff Daland Dusters, out of Macon, Georgia in 1924. In 1925 Huff Daland Duster s
headquarters moved to Monroe, Louisiana to lengthen their reach from Florida, Arkansas, California,
and Mexico. At this time, Huff Daland Dusters operated eighteen aircraft, making them the largest
privately owned fleet in the world. In 1928 C.E. Woolman, founded Delta Air Lines and bought Huff
Daland Dusters. Woolman renamed them to Delta Air Services for the Mississippi Delta region. In
1929, Delta Airlines operated their first ever passenger carrying flight from Dallas, Texas to Jackson,
Mississippi. In 1941, Delta Air Lines moved from Monroe, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

in October 2015 those restrictions were lifted and negotiations were started and went on for ten

2016. Barriers to Nurse Practitioner Practice that Impact Healthcare Redesign is the article written by
two physicians, Debra Hain and Laureen M. Fleck. The two physicians explain the barriers and
setbacks that the scope of practice prevents APNs from practicing from. This article also gives
suggestions of what steps they think should be taken in order to completely make the scope of practice
fair for everyone who has been trained to practice specific skills. This will be extremely beneficial to
my proposal because Hain and Fleck describe the same steps to completely even the scope of practice
that I am proposing. I will be using this article mainly in my first and second body paragraph so the
readers know quickly what I am proposing and that there is support from physicians on my side as
well. This will hook the readers quickly and they will instantly want to know more about how the
scope of practice should be made completely even. The article also gives examples about how the
future of APNs education will look after the scope is made completely equal. While talking about the
future of education, the article mentions The Robert Wood Foundation. This foundation was

My First Week Of Self Led Tutoring Sessions Essay
Going into my first week of self led tutoring sessions, I was extremely anxious due to the high
expectations I placed on myself. I wanted to be able to every rule regarding grammar, confident as
recognizing errors concerning a poorly organized essay or weak thesis. In addition to these
expectations, I was also worried that I would come off as demeaning to the student or incapable of
explain why the student made an error. I wanted to establish my authority, while also ensuring that all
of my students felt like they learned something new or got clarity on something they were confused
about. As a began tutoring, I realized that my demeanor in the writing sessions, should have been the
least of my concerns. Most of my students, engaged in the writing session, felt free to ask questions,
or even laughed in the session. I think that was in part to me not taking myself too seriously in the
sessions. I naturally compliment my students, and leave most of my anxieties behind. I encourage my
students to not be reserved or afraid to tell me if they are confused, by being as transparent as possible.
This means that during several times in the session I will ask or say, Did that make sense, You look a
little confused. Let me explain that in another way, or I m sorry if I confused you before. However, I
must admit that it took me some time to accept that I can be transparent in my writing sessions. I was

An Illegal Mexican Immigrant Immigrants
They slip into the San Diego rail yard furtively, preferably beneath the protective cover of darkness,
jumping fences, eluding guards and dodging two hundred ton locomotives in a perilous dash for the
most elusive of prizes, a free ride to the north. According to Jose Flores, an illegal Mexican immigrant
seeking work in the United States says, To be truthful, I have no idea of precisely where this train
goes, other than it takes us to el norte (Griffin 363+). The fact that each night literally hundreds of
men and women clamber over the barricade is testament to its ineffectiveness and to the irresistible
pull of United States jobs that on average pay eight times their equivalent in Mexico (Griffin 363+ ).
Javier Ortega, a 40 year old auto body repairman from Guadalajara, says, It doesn t matter how many
people, horses, bicycles, helicopters or planes they use.... People will go. It doesn t matter if the fence
is electric (Griffin 363+). These people carry dreams with them in hopes for a better life. These people
are willing to walk day and night through any desert and any river they come across to achieve the
American Dream. Illegal immigration between Mexico and the United States is a serious situation that
needs to be solved. To better understand this situation, one must analyze the causes and effects and
come up with a solution.

Essay on The Cause And Effect Of The Spanish American War
American imperialism in 1898 was not a sudden abandonment of anti colonial tradition but was a
logical extension of commercial expansion, something the US had been doing throughout its history
(SparkNotes: The Spanish American War, 1898 1901,: Effects of the Treaty). President McKinley was
not interested in wars of conquest or of territorial aggression. His interest in expansion was to make
the United States first in international commerce and as a means to implement its humanitarian and
democratic goals (Faragher, J., Buhle, M. J., Armitage, S. H. ,2008, Out of Many, A History of the
American People, 6th ed., Vol. 2, p. 561). McKinley would eventually be forced to act in a

stationed in Havana s harbor to protect American interest in Cuba. An explosion destroyed the vessel
on February 15, 1898. A naval court of inquiry blamed the explosion on a mine, further inflaming
public sentiment against Spain (HIS104 U.S. History Since 1877 30 Jun 2008, OL20). Again, the
press stirred up the public with stories and headlines of a Spanish conspiracy. American now
demanded revenge for the deaths of 266 sailors (Faragher, J., 2008, Out of Many). President
McKinley demanded that Spanish government end brutality of the Cuban people, engage in armistice,
and promise the eventual independence of Cuba. Upon Spain s refusal, McKinley asked for a
declaration of war. (HIS104 U.S. History, Lecture, 30 Jun 2008, OL20). In order to assure the world

There are many things that seem to be complete opposites of each other, yet after looking in depth our
immediate conclusion appears to be wrong and the reality is they share many similarities. A popular
example of this is the comparison between humans and chimpanzees. At an initial glance, humans
seem so far superior to chimpanzees that the difference is at an astronomical level. The concepts,
ideas, societies, relationships, technological advances that humans have brought are incomparable to
what little chimpanzees have accomplished. Yet as scientists have studied and observed closely, they

In The Cosmic Prison, Eiseley explains how man confines themselves to their current understanding
of their self and their environment, without even considering the possibility of a greater inconceivable
universe. Although Eiseley makes sure to suggest that the human brain could be physically limited to
this understanding, he explains how it is most likely by man s will alone. This is because man is
unwilling to accept that they may not understand, or may be wrong. They believe that they are right
and won t give into other ideas. Eiseley explains this by stating that [Man] could never, by any
conceivable stretch of the imagination, be aware that their so called universe was, in actuality, the
prowling body of a cat or the more time enduring body of a philosopher . We think of ourselves as the
only sentient part of the universe, some big significant species. Stephen Crane s poem, A Man Said to
the Universe , holds this same ideology. In this poem, Man exclaims to the universe Sir, I exist! This
exclamation shows Man s attempt to be recognized, but he is shot down and told of how insignificant
he is compared to the rest of the infinitely existing universe, but they cannot see this because of their
arrogance. All three of these examples display man s anthropocentrism, although in different
approaches. The next visible connection between these works, closely related to the previous, is how
puny and insignificant man really is. If one takes a moment to think about it,

A Star s Temperature And Luminosity Analysis
According to the book, If you know a star s temperature and luminosity, you can determine its radius
(Seeds 151). The luminosity of a star is related to its absolute magnitude, and its spectral class has a
relation to the star s temperature. So, in order to estimate the size of Betelgeuse, we would need both
its luminosity (in which we can substitute its absolute magnitude) and its temperature (spectral class),
which we have been provided. The absolute magnitude refers to the brightness of a star if it were 10
pc away (Seeds 145), and the lower the number the brighter the star (and vice versa). According to the
spectral sequence, which goes O, B, A, F, G, K, then M, O stars are the hottest...M stars, the coolest
(Seeds 148), with M stars being orange/red in color.
From here, one would use the Hertzsprung Russell Diagram, which compares luminosity and spectral
class in order to estimate a star s size. A H R diagram possesses ... Show more content on

So what does this mean in regards to Betelgeuse s size? Well, there is only one explanation: Although
they are cool, they are luminous, and that must mean they are larger and have more surface area than
main sequence stars of the same temperature (Seeds 154). This means that Betelgeuse is a red giant,
which are roughly 10 to 100 times larger than the sun (Seeds 154). In fact, according to the H R
diagram on page 155, Betelgeuse is even considered a supergiant, which are over a thousand times the
sun s diameter (Seeds 154). In conclusion, one can estimate the size of roughly any star if the absolute
magnitude (or luminosity) and spectral class (or temperature) is known using the H R diagram! In
Betelgeuse s case, we can estimate that it is an extremely large supergiant star based on its position on
the H R

Tips For Dealing With Insect Sting Allergies
Being allergic to a stinging insect like a wasp or fire ant can be challenging. The insects are
everywhere outdoors and can get inside your car or house, making it difficult to avoid contact with
them. However, there are a few things you can do to minimize your risk of being stung. Even more
importantly, you ll want to know what steps to take to deal with an allergic reaction if it happens. Here
are some tips that may help.

Your reaction can happen quickly, so you ll need immediate treatment as soon as it happens. For that
reason, your allergist may give you a prescription for epinephrine that comes in an injectable pen. You
should keep it near you at all times, so if you re stung by a bee or bitten by a fire ant, you can inject
the medication right away. Using one of these pens could save your life and buy you time while you
wait for help to arrive. You should still call for an ambulance or get to an emergency room as soon as
you can for further treatment.
In addition, if you ve had a bad allergic reaction to a sting in the past, you should consider wearing a
medical alert tag that lets first responders know about your condition. You may want to use the buddy
system when you go outdoors, especially if you go on a picnic or hike in the woods, so there will
always be someone to call for help if you get stung. And finally, never let your guard down. There
could be a hornet on your soda can or a line of fire ants marching up your picnic table. Always
remember to check your surroundings wherever you go since insects are everywhere and they are

Japan is a Tier 2 Watch List Country, It has earned this designation because it does not fully adhere to
the minimum standards for the elimination of human trafficking. For example, Japan did not prosecute

A Separate Peace Tree
A tree in John Knowles s A Separate Peace, symbolizes the true strengths and weaknesses of two boys
relationship during World War Two. This specific tree really corresponds with what is doing on with
the two boys relationship. When the tree is big and strong the boy s relationship is really thriving.
Once the tree starts to lose branches and weakens the two boy s relationship starts to weaken as well.
Which is implemented all over the book with weak moments in their relationship and strengths. In the
first chapter, Finny and Gene s relationship is strong and this is represented by the healthy tree branch
they and the other boys jump off of into the lake. Gene is not normally the type of person to just jump
out of a tree, but he is willing to because of his trust in Finny. Despite his own fear, Gene trusts Finny
enough to jump. Gene says, With the sensation that I was throwing my life away, I jumped into space
(17). This demonstrates that the trust between the two boys is very strong because Gene is willing to
do things that he is not comfortable with. Since Finny was there by his side he has no problem doing

Strategic Planning Change
This paper will describe a problem that my organization currently has and consider a change that can
fix this issue. The paper will identify how the change aligns with my organization s mission, vision,
and values and professional ethics. The paper describes a specific solution to the issue and the strategy
that I can use to implement the planned change. The strategy will include the steps that are necessary
to facilitate the planned change. Introduction The inefficiency I identified in my organization is that
we do not have an EHR system for our juvenile prisoners. The company that I am working for still
uses a paper based system for all juvenile patients, and I believe that patient care safety can
significantly be improved by adopting an EHR system. An EHR ... Show more content on

These five steps for the planned change enables an organization to reassess many aspects of its
operations and future plans (Jarousse, 2013, p.22). The first step involves gathering information from
the team and explain the need for change (Jarousse, 2013). The first steps allow units leaders look at
the company s strengths and weaknesses and help identify the problem and decide if a change is
needed. The second step is to get feedback from all workers (Jarousse, 2013). The third step is to plan
for an agreement on the weaknesses and strengths of the company (Jarousse, 2013). In this step, the
team can identify areas of support and areas where improvement is needed. The fourth step is to create
an action plan with all team members (Jarousse, 2013). This step will allow the team to look at the
improvements that that will come with an EHR system and help the team reduce resistance to the
planned change. The last step is consists of evaluating the proposed change (Jarousse, 2013). This last
step is important; it allows the organization to examine if the planned change meets the organization s

Sorrow s Motherhood
Morrison, through Sorrow s experience, portrays how motherhood can be salvation for those trying to
assimilate into the codified characteristics of the feminine gender. Morrison describes Sorrow with
unfavorable imagery marked by a history of misery. Sorrow grew up on a ship, and was the only one
that survived the shipwreck. She was later found by the Sawyer and his wife. The wife tried to make
Sorrow mind the geese (Morrison 140), but this resulted in more trouble than assistance; therefore, the
wife put her to simple cleaning tasks (Morrison 141), which was still was to no avail. Sorrow s
inability to complete these traditionally feminine tasks conveys that she grew up around very few, if

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Gas Chromatography
Gas chromatography:
GC is used to separate volatile organic compounds. The use of GC for the direct analysis of intact
phospholipids are not possible because of the non volatile in nature. Therefore, most methods rely on
diacylglycerol hydrolysis by phospholipase C. This is followed by methyl trans esterification to
produce fatty acid methyl esters (FAME), which are then analyzed by GC (Tserng and Griffin, 2003).
The first application of GC fatty acids was in 1950 (Bondia Pons et al., 2004).

(1975). HPLC uses either a solid or liquid coated solid stationary phase and a liquid mobile phase.
Separation of analytes is achieved by adsorption of the analyte to the stationary phase. HPLC provides
speed, resolution, high sensitivity and specificity (Lima, 2002).
HPLC also be a lower temperature than GC methods; reducing the risk of isomerization of unsaturated
fatty acids. HPLC has an immediate advantage over TLC, because reduces the exposure of the sample
to atmospheric oxygen, reducing the risk of auto oxidation of phospholipids (Pulfer and Murphy,
2003).
Beside, separated fractions are collected for further analysis (Robins and Patton, 1986). HPLC is used
mainly for lipid class divisions; Some methods for the separation of the molecular species of a certain
class developed using reverse phase chromatography (Olsson and Salem, 1997).
However, these reverse phase HPLC methods are time consuming and provide poor resolution as a
result of the wide range of polarities that due to the different carbon chain lengths of the fatty acid
chains and degree of saturation of phospholipids. This section will discuss the components HPLC

An Interpretation of Graham Greene s The Quiet American
Judging Pyle One of the central themes in Graham Greene s novel, The Quiet American, which
functions more as the thesis of this work of literature, is loss of innocence. Most critics and readers of
this book generally conclude that the loss of innocence is exemplified through the gradual debauchery
of Alden Pyle, the American who comes to live in Vietnam with little first hand experience or
knowledge about the political situation or the people there. One of the principle problems with this
commonly held view of interpretation, however, is that despite how innocuous a background Pyle may
have had when he was in America, his actions in Vietnam are far from innocent. He steals the lover of
his friend; he kills scores of innocent women and children by bombing a very public place at an hour
when it is highly populated. These actions seem more befitting of a quintessential villain rather than
that of an innocent man which poses a significant problem to this traditional interpretation that Greene
s novel is about the loss of innocence of Pyle. However, when one examines the circumstances as well
as the intentions of Pyle throughout much of his involvement in this novel which is fairly substantial it
becomes clearer that for the most part the young man actually is well intentioned, and perhaps even a
victim of circumstance: something that happens to the innocent. An analysis of Pyle s wooing of
Phuong, a young Vietnamese woman, from her substantially older lover Thomas Fowler,

information shows the change in the demographics from 2010 to 2014. As can be seen by the chart,
there is not a huge amount of growth, but growth nonetheless. Growth and change is expected in this
county in the coming years due to new developments in the downtown area including a new stadium,
which provide opportunities to live and work closer in to downtown and property values are also on
the rise. The county values when compared with the state values are very similar. Table 1:

Risk Management Assessment Paper The effort to decrease and evaluate risks to patients, staff, and
organizational resources within a health care institution is defined as health care risk management. In
order for facilities to minimize financial loss is to reduce accidents and injuries. All health care
facilities and providers put risk management in to practice on a continuing basis. In 1985, the senior
officers of the The Health and Human Services (DHHS) decided that there was a need to implement

Another risk is an organizational risk. This type of risk occurs when the management commitment,
political expectations, or legislative requirements to complete the project are impacted because the
project does not proceed. This type of risk looks very bad on the organizations and makes the
stakeholders question what type of organization they have invested in. Then you have technical risks.
These risks are associated with maintaining skilled staff, hardware and software dependencies,
application software, other infrastructure needs, and security vulnerabilities and safeguards (hhs.gov).
This type of risk affects the organization is a major way. If not handled in a proper manner, the
organization can be destroyed. The organization has to realize that the stakeholders are looking at this
very closely. They want to know that the organization is serious about the staff and that they are
skilled enough to handle what goes on in the organization. It is also important that no one is giving out
improper information. In order to mitigate these risks, the organization needs to have proper
education. How can a person with no education or experience solve any kind of risk problem? Of
course to some people it is a natural instinct to know how to resolve issues but they still must have

Why Does Hysteria Occur In The 1800 s
Women have been accused of being hysterical for centuries. Hysteria is defined as a psychoneurotic
disorder characterized by violent emotional outbreaks, disturbances of sensory and motor functions,
and various abnormal effects due to autosuggestion. Hysteria is not a condition that is specific to only
females (Hysteria). Although it is more common among women, men can also become hysterical in
their lifetime. This idea was proposed in the 1800s by a French neurologists named Jean Martin
Charcot. Charcot believed that hysteria was not a sexual disease that was only in women, he
concluded that it was in fact an inherited nervous disorder that affected both sexes (Hysteria). Hysteria

The Girl who escaped Isis: This is my story, is a January 21, 2016 autobiography written by Farida
Khalaf with Andrea C. Hoffmann about Farida Khalaf s self experiences during the war of Isis. Farida
is a young Yazidi woman who is taken from her home as well as the rest of her family in the beginning
of the book. The town that Khalaf is from has Peshmerga soldiers. These men are used to protect
borders of connecting countries and used to keep armies like Isis out. The Peshmerga are not strong

They have come into their lives and turned it upside down all because of how they can be the best

that strong and they would be able to defeat them. For example, America has a stronger militant group
than Isis and Isis will probably try to test us to see if they can succeed with America as well. They are
disastrous because of what they think they can accomplish. In the book Khalaf states, In my cell I
grew nervous. Would Zeyad want to pleasure himself him self with a woman again after the battle? I
couldn t for the life of me imagine that in my current state I could appear attractive to him. I was
filthy, badly injured, and barely able to move. But I wasn t able to put up a fight, either. Khalf is
stating in this paragraph how disastrous Isis is. This demonstrates why Isis is disastrous because of
how they treat women and how they use them as sex objects. This line is important because it shows
the reader how abusive and dangerous Isis soldiers are. They are also disastrous because degrading
women is not even considered in their minds. Isis soldiers take away their virginity and they don t

Womens Emancipation Movement
Historically women have participated in all spheres of life with courage and gusto. Indian Higher
Education system is no exception. Indian mythology is rich with stories of highly educated and
evolved women. So much so that our deity of learning is also a woman! One can trace the historical
evidence of ancient Indian Education to the 3rd century BC. Those days education was imparted orally
and many women scholars participated in this. When Buddhism spread to India, some world famous
educational institutions such as Nalanda, Vikramshila and Takshila were established. Research shows
that a number of women were enrolled in these temples of learning. These universities flourished from
about 5th century to 13th century. In the 11th century the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once women were recognized as an integral part of the work force, higher education became a
necessary stepping stone.
However the development of educational opportunities for girls was held back because of child
marriage and Purdah. Not only that, but Women s education was not smooth as several traditional and
orthodox forces came in the way. For instance, Sardar Dayal Singh, speaking on behalf of the Indian
Association of Punjab, stated the object of female education in this country is not to make sound
scholars but to make better mothers, sisters and wives . Girls should be taught suitable subjects and
not be made to swallow history and geography indiscriminately , opined Lahore Arya Samaj.
Many universities were established during this period. Benaras Hindu University in 1916, Aligarh
Muslim University in 1920, and Delhi University in 1922, became new hubs of women s liberation. At
this stage many enlightened national leaders took much interest in this area and strove hard to bring
about a change in the mindset of the people.
After independence women s education, especially higher education, took off. Education started
playing a great role in the emancipation of women from traditional dependencies. Women became
more vocal, articulate and assertive. Our constitution granted equal rights to women and that included
the Right to education. Jawahar Lal Nehru said, You can tell the condition of a nation by looking at the

Naomi is a teenage girl that is originally from Missouri and has recently just moved to Jerusalem.
There she faces the hardships of prejudice and segregation as well as boy problems. Maria on the
other hand is a grown woman as well as a nun in training. Her story takes place in Austria as she faces
the tough discipline of the commander as well as the Nazi s that are out to get her and her family.

Myth of Courage Exposed in The Things They Carried Essay
Ah for a young man all looks fine and noble if he goes down in war, hacked to pieces under a slashing
bronze blade he lies there dead. . .but whatever death lays bare all wounds are marks of glory. (Homer
22.83 87)
As students we are brainwashed by ancient myths such as The Iliad, where war is extolled and the
valorous warrior praised. Yet, modern novels such as Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried
(THINGS) challenge those very notions. Like The Iliad, THINGS is about war. It is about battles and
soldiers, victory and survival, yet the message O Brien gives us in THINGS runs almost contradictory
to the traditional war story. Whereas traditional stories of war take place on battlefields where soldier
battles soldier and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What the reader experiences while reading the novel, is entirely different from what he expects from a
typical war story. Absolutes must be absent from the text, if O Brien is to illustrate how any of our
mythologies, including courage, frequently fail to meet up to actual experience.
As many have noted, O Brien ingeniously facilitates a mood of incongruity, or disconnection, between
fiction and fact in The Things They Carried through sheer structure. By blurring lines between fantasy
and reality, THINGS truly becomes a contradiction of itself. As Catherine Calloway notes, one of the
ways in which O Brien achieves this blurring of lines, is to model the narrator of THINGS after
himself, a drafted Vietnam war veteran, a Harvard graduate, and a writer with the same name of Tim
O Brien (para. 3). O Brien is aware that the practiced reader knows not to confuse the narrator with the
author, and yet the reader is encouraged to do just that. The purpose, of course, is to keep the reader as
unbalanced, as unsure, of what we are told to be truths, as is the Vietnam soldier.
Another way in which O Brien blurs fiction and fact is through his narrator s (heretofore referred to as
Tim), constant and contradictory claims as to the veracity of his stories. One moment Tim swears that
a story is true, such as in the chapter The Man I Killed, when he speaks so realistically and in such
detail, about killing an enemy soldier (THINGS 141), but

A Hanging George Orwell Analysis
George Orwell, an experienced Assistant Superintendent in the British Imperial Police, composed A
Hanging after his resignation in 1927. The narrative is a personal testimony set in the 1920 s in
Burma. Orwell uses the classical techniques of formal argument to depict the death of an unknown
prisoner, while taking a position against the death penalty. George Orwell s Abolitionist message in A
Hanging is conveyed through the prisoner, dog, functionaries, and their actions, words, and body
language.
The writer implies the prisoner s humanity by describing his emotions and ability to reason. After the
execution, the Eurasian boy tells Orwell when the prisoner found out he would be hung, he pissed on
the floor of his cell (Orwell 102). The boy s story signifies the prisoner s human characteristics
through his reaction, as he was so scared he urinated on himself. As John Rodden notes, this
happening creates sympathy (73). The action humanizes the prisoner, connecting the readers to him.
Likewise, George Orwell details the condemned man s human like traits by describing the prisoner
avoiding a puddle directly before his execution. This simple act causes a realization that the prisoner is
also human. John Rodden states, The narrorator reinforces this point by drawing attention to the
prisoner s humanity, as he a dead man walking diligently sidesteps a puddle (72). Rodden suggest that
the dead man still has dignity to sidestep the puddle. The illustration of the prisoner s response to his
death sentence and his avoidance of the water brings to the reader s attention that capital punishment
is taking another human life.
George Orwell conveys the prisoner as human in order to emphasis the dehumanization of capital
punishment. As George Orwell states, He and we were a party of men walking together, seeing,
hearing, feeling, understanding, the same world, and in two minutes, with a sudden snap, one of us
would be gone (101). Orwell implies the prisoner is no different from him; yet, by killing the
condemned man he is taking away his humanity. The author explains the prisoner s gait and stance as
steady, bobbing from side to side with his knees bent. He does not protest, as he has accepted his fate.

To what extent are volcanic landforms fundamental to our understanding of plate tectonics theory?
(40) Plate tectonics theory is the scientific theory that describes the large scale motion of the Earth s
lithosphere, which is broken up into tectonic plates. Volcanic landforms are undoubtedly very
important in aiding our understanding of plate tectonic theory. However, there is other evidence that
must be considered as well. Different types of volcanoes are created at plate margins due to the
viscosity of the lava. The two main types of volcanoes are composite volcanoes and shield volcanoes.
Composite volcanoes are generally formed at destructive plate boundaries as high viscous lava is
produced as less dense oceanic crust is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this is the south east coast of North America and the south west coast of Africa. This
aids our understanding of plate tectonic theory on a large scale over millions of years. However,
although there is a lot of evidence from volcanic landforms that can be used to explain plate tectonics
theory, there is other important evidence that cannot be ignored. Fossil evidence is very important for
our understanding of plate tectonics theory. Similar animal fossils have been found on the South
American and African continents. These fossils suggest that the continents were once joined together.
Fossils of an extinct reptile, named a Mesosaurus, have been found in southern Africa and South
America. Scientists believe that the only explanation for this fossil being found on these two
continents is that they were once joined and have become separated due to plate movements. Plant
fossils, such as a fossil of the Glossopteris tree have been found in several countries across the
Southern Hemisphere such as India, Australia and even Antarctica. The discovery of these fossils
prompted scientists to conclude that these countries must once have been joined in one large land
mass. The discovery of such fossils as this in Antarctica gives additional weight to this theory as
vegetation cannot survive the harsh Antarctic environment suggesting that if vegetation has been able
to grow previously, the positioning of the continent must have been

Lineage-Based Perspective
With there being more than 50,000 species of vertebrates alone it is essential for all biology majors to
have a working knowledge of the tree of life. The two perspectives for teaching zoology are the
Linnean taxonomical and the Phylogenetic clade based perspective. The Linnean taxonomical
perspective is a rank based hierarchy while the phylogenetic clade based perspective groups species
by focusing a common ancestor and its descendants. In regards to teaching zoology there is more
value in using the phylogenetic clade based perspective rather than the Linnean perspective because it
allows students to organize the details of biodiversity with a more rational system.
Phylogenetic taxonomy focuses on common ancestry and derived functional ... Show more content on

For example; Coleoptera contains over three hundred thousand species while Primate contains roughly
four hundred species including the human (Ballen, Cissy J., and Harry W. Greene).
This lack of criteria is what causes the exclusion of taxonomic acknowledgment of major evolutionary
innovations while inaccurately portraying history. It is also mentioned in Greene s more recent journal
that the Linnean method fails at specifying clades based upon the origin of limbs in tetrapods and
shelled egg amniotes. While it also, obscures the fact that crocodilians are more closely related to
birds than they are to turtles, lizards, and snakes, which does not highlight many dramatic similarities
between earlier archosaurs (Ballen, Cissy J., and Harry W. Greene). These two main concerns of
omission and obscuration are why the phylogenetic clade based system is a far more valuable and
beneficial methodology for teaching zoology.
As it was mentioned previously, the phylogenetic clade based perspective only recognizes
monophyletic taxa, which are those taxa derived from a common ancestor not shared with any other
group. There is another argument being made that paraphyletic groups should not be included as units
of study within a zoology course. Paraphyletic and monophyletic units of study both have their
benefits and drawbacks however I believe that

  • 2. Constraints Are Vital For Any Type Of Design Project Essay b. Constraints Constraints are vital for any type of design project. While you do not want too many of them within your project, they are inevitable and should be worked around accordingly. Most of the constraints we will face involve resources and time. We have a limited budget and all of our group members have busy schedules. While these constraints will conflict with the abstract properties of the system, they are very important to prepare for during the design process. Thus, we carefully determined and listed the necessary constraints for our design project shown in Appendix A. c. Standards Standards are also a vital engineering requirement that help ensure the health and safety of any products that are designed, produced, and presented to the market by engineers. Without having a plan to meet a criteria of standards, your product could be a huge safety hazard and unfit for release. We identified and described the different standards that influence our design project in Appendix B. d. Global, Economic, Environmental, and Societal perspective Looking at our project from a global, environmental, and societal perspective, I d say that it s not hugely impactful. Mostly due to intended use for this project. It s a training tool used for electrical engineering students. Thus, will only truly impact that small minority of people. However, it should at least be economical. Similar systems found online are quite expensive. The development of this project was relatively cheap ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Keller V. Regents Of The University Of California Essay Keller v. Regents of the University of California There are two questions that this court must answer today; First, does Keller s speech have First Amendment protections? Second, does the University of California, Delphi have the ability to restrict such speech? Keller argues that the university violated his First Amendment rights by attempting to restrict his expression of disfavored views. The university contends that Keller s actions were disruptive to the learning environment, and thus suspended; not violating his rights to free speech. To address the first question, Keller had created a political group, Friends of Liberty, in which the group would stage ask ins at open meetings for other campus organizations. First, we must address the aspect of an open meeting; these campus organizations were providing all students with the opportunity for discussion in a public forum. Public for a are the most important avenue for employing the right to unabridged speech for all United State citizens. to preserve an uninhibited marketplace of ideas in which truth will ultimately prevail, this aspect of traditional public for a is a virtue, not a vice. McCullen v. Coakley (2014). This court has held that public for a are to not be regulated by the government, except in an extremely limited fashion, time place manner. There were no regulations for time, place, or manner by the university. Keller was fully within his rights, as a student of the university, to attend the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Veertebrate Paleontology Science itself is a wide field of research and career opportunities. In it, many areas of research are available for one to choose from. Paleontology is but one of these options, and it encompasses even more divisions of study. It has numerous subdivisions: micropaleontology, paleobotany, paleoecology, the list goes on. All of the divisions cover things that once were, and track how things changed over time to become what they are today, hence the suffix of paleo , which means old or ancient . Despite the variety of fields available in Paleontology itself, it is not a common choice for careers based in the field of science in the United States. Trends in paleontology have been compared side by side with ones in geochemistry and geophysics, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the five eyed, one armed Opabinia reglias was an oddity from the Cambrain era recently discovered. Yi Qi was discovered in 2015, and it harkens back to the dragon myths of the olden times with its bat like wings and wyvern esque appearance. Yutyrannus huali shows that larger theropods could have feathers like the smaller, more well known Velociraptor. Nanuqsaurus showed that tyrannosaurs lived farther up north than originally anticipated, hence its name of polar bear lizard . These discoveries continue to rewrite what is known about prehistory by throwing a morphological monkey wrench into currently accepted theories and ideas. As such, the field must continue to adapt as new discoveries and creatures are brought to light. New advances in research have given the paleontologists new insight, and let them more easily bounce back from any ground breaking discoveries that turn their theories on their heads. Of course, their theories must still be sensible, or they will otherwise be discredited. David Peters is a perfect example of what not to do when presenting theories on prehistoric life, and has been completely discredited by the paleontological community as a ... • 6. Mlk Civil Disobedience MLK s Civil Disobedience in Todays World In Martin Luther King, Jr. s Letter from Birmingham Jail, he discusses the duty of citizens to enact civil disobedience when there are immoral actions or laws put into place. In accordance with Martin Luther King, Jr. this concept applies to our society today with the recent presidential election of the United States of America. As Donald Trump has been elected the President of the United States, there have been various acts of civil disobedience because millions of individuals do not support him in his presidency. Along with this topic, there are two distinct questions that need to be answered. First, what is civil disobedience in the eyes of Martin Luther King, Jr.? Second, are Donald Trump protests ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has been a massive concern for many anti Trump protestors because they believe that Hillary Clinton should have won because she won the popular vote. Even though Clinton won the popular vote, Trump won the Electoral College, which is why he was elected President of the United States. As King stated, We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly. (King, 1963). This quote applies perfectly for our countries current status because all of the voters who do not support Trump are tied to him and his decisions for the next four years. With King s view of civil disobedience, these protestors are not justified in their protesting of Trump because a process that has been used for hundreds of years elected him legally. In order for these protestors to civilly disobey in unison with King s views, they must protest the Electoral College and not the man that the Electoral College elected. Individuals may not agree with Trump being elected, but until he advocates an immoral political action they must not protest against him directly. Part of King s beliefs includes him being a Christian and obeying the laws of the land. For anybody who is elected legally to become President of the United States, those that follow King s views are subject to obeying the governing authority as they are in accordance with the laws of God. As King states in his letter, A just law is a man made code that squares with the moral law, or the law of God. An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law. (King, 1963). This means that it is not justified for anti Trump protestors to protest out of anger that their candidate of the popular vote did not win because it is in accordance with the authority of the government, which has been in place for ... Barriers to Nurse Practitioner Practice that Impact Healthcare Redesign is the article written by two physicians, Debra Hain and Laureen M. Fleck. The two physicians explain the barriers and setbacks that the scope of practice prevents APNs from practicing from. This article also gives suggestions of what steps they think should be taken in order to completely make the scope of practice fair for everyone who has been trained to practice specific skills. This will be extremely beneficial to my proposal because Hain and Fleck describe the same steps to completely even the scope of practice that I am proposing. I will be using this article mainly in my first and second body paragraph so the readers know quickly what I am proposing and that there is support from physicians on my side as well. This will hook the readers quickly and they will instantly want to know more about how the scope of practice should be made completely even. The article also gives examples about how the future of APNs education will look after the scope is made completely equal. Although Eiseley makes sure to suggest that the human brain could be physically limited to this understanding, he explains how it is most likely by man s will alone. This is because man is unwilling to accept that they may not understand, or may be wrong. They believe that they are right and won t give into other ideas. Eiseley explains this by stating that [Man] could never, by any conceivable stretch of the imagination, be aware that their so called universe was, in actuality, the prowling body of a cat or the more time enduring body of a philosopher . We think of ourselves as the only sentient part of the universe, some big significant species. Stephen Crane s poem, A Man Said to the Universe , holds this same ideology. In this poem, Man exclaims to the universe Sir, I exist! This exclamation shows Man s attempt to be recognized, but he is shot down and told of how insignificant he is compared to the rest of the infinitely existing universe, but they cannot see this because of their arrogance. All three of these examples display man s anthropocentrism, although in different approaches. • 18. A Star s Temperature And Luminosity Analysis According to the book, If you know a star s temperature and luminosity, you can determine its radius (Seeds 151). The luminosity of a star is related to its absolute magnitude, and its spectral class has a relation to the star s temperature. So, in order to estimate the size of Betelgeuse, we would need both its luminosity (in which we can substitute its absolute magnitude) and its temperature (spectral class), which we have been provided. The absolute magnitude refers to the brightness of a star if it were 10 pc away (Seeds 145), and the lower the number the brighter the star (and vice versa). According to the spectral sequence, which goes O, B, A, F, G, K, then M, O stars are the hottest...M stars, the coolest (Seeds 148), with M stars being orange/red in color. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So what does this mean in regards to Betelgeuse s size? Well, there is only one explanation: Although they are cool, they are luminous, and that must mean they are larger and have more surface area than main sequence stars of the same temperature (Seeds 154). This means that Betelgeuse is a red giant, which are roughly 10 to 100 times larger than the sun (Seeds 154). In fact, according to the H R diagram on page 155, Betelgeuse is even considered a supergiant, which are over a thousand times the sun s diameter (Seeds 154). In conclusion, one can estimate the size of roughly any star if the absolute magnitude (or luminosity) and spectral class (or temperature) is known using the H R diagram! • 25. An Interpretation of Graham Greene s The Quiet American Judging Pyle One of the central themes in Graham Greene s novel, The Quiet American, which functions more as the thesis of this work of literature, is loss of innocence. Most critics and readers of this book generally conclude that the loss of innocence is exemplified through the gradual debauchery of Alden Pyle, the American who comes to live in Vietnam with little first hand experience or knowledge about the political situation or the people there. One of the principle problems with this commonly held view of interpretation, however, is that despite how innocuous a background Pyle may have had when he was in America, his actions in Vietnam are far from innocent. He steals the lover of his friend; he kills scores of innocent women and children by bombing a very public place at an hour when it is highly populated. These actions seem more befitting of a quintessential villain rather than that of an innocent man which poses a significant problem to this traditional interpretation that Greene s novel is about the loss of innocence of Pyle. However, when one examines the circumstances as well as the intentions of Pyle throughout much of his involvement in this novel which is fairly substantial it becomes clearer that for the most part the young man actually is well intentioned, and perhaps even a victim of circumstance: something that happens to the innocent. Would Zeyad want to pleasure himself him self with a woman again after the battle? I couldn t for the life of me imagine that in my current state I could appear attractive to him. I was filthy, badly injured, and barely able to move. But I wasn t able to put up a fight, either. Khalf is stating in this paragraph how disastrous Isis is. This demonstrates why Isis is disastrous because of how they treat women and how they use them as sex objects. This line is important because it shows the reader how abusive and dangerous Isis soldiers are. They are also disastrous because degrading women is not even considered in their minds. Isis soldiers take away their virginity and they don t respect a woman s honor to her family and most importantly, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Womens Emancipation Movement Historically women have participated in all spheres of life with courage and gusto. Indian Higher Education system is no exception. Indian mythology is rich with stories of highly educated and evolved women. So much so that our deity of learning is also a woman! One can trace the historical evidence of ancient Indian Education to the 3rd century BC. Those days education was imparted orally and many women scholars participated in this. When Buddhism spread to India, some world famous educational institutions such as Nalanda, Vikramshila and Takshila were established. Research shows that a number of women were enrolled in these temples of learning. These universities flourished from about 5th century to 13th century. In the 11th century the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once women were recognized as an integral part of the work force, higher education became a necessary stepping stone. However the development of educational opportunities for girls was held back because of child marriage and Purdah. Not only that, but Women s education was not smooth as several traditional and orthodox forces came in the way. For instance, Sardar Dayal Singh, speaking on behalf of the Indian Association of Punjab, stated the object of female education in this country is not to make sound scholars but to make better mothers, sisters and wives . Girls should be taught suitable subjects and not be made to swallow history and geography indiscriminately , opined Lahore Arya Samaj. Many universities were established during this period. Benaras Hindu University in 1916, Aligarh Muslim University in 1920, and Delhi University in 1922, became new hubs of women s liberation. At this stage many enlightened national leaders took much interest in this area and strove hard to bring about a change in the mindset of the people. After independence women s education, especially higher education, took off. Education started playing a great role in the emancipation of women from traditional dependencies. Women became more vocal, articulate and assertive. Our constitution granted equal rights to women and that included the Right to education. • 33. Myth of Courage Exposed in The Things They Carried Essay Ah for a young man all looks fine and noble if he goes down in war, hacked to pieces under a slashing bronze blade he lies there dead. . .but whatever death lays bare all wounds are marks of glory. (Homer 22.83 87) As students we are brainwashed by ancient myths such as The Iliad, where war is extolled and the valorous warrior praised. Yet, modern novels such as Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried (THINGS) challenge those very notions. Like The Iliad, THINGS is about war. It is about battles and soldiers, victory and survival, yet the message O Brien gives us in THINGS runs almost contradictory to the traditional war story. Whereas traditional stories of war take place on battlefields where soldier battles soldier and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What the reader experiences while reading the novel, is entirely different from what he expects from a typical war story. Absolutes must be absent from the text, if O Brien is to illustrate how any of our mythologies, including courage, frequently fail to meet up to actual experience. As many have noted, O Brien ingeniously facilitates a mood of incongruity, or disconnection, between fiction and fact in The Things They Carried through sheer structure. By blurring lines between fantasy and reality, THINGS truly becomes a contradiction of itself. As Catherine Calloway notes, one of the ways in which O Brien achieves this blurring of lines, is to model the narrator of THINGS after himself, a drafted Vietnam war veteran, a Harvard graduate, and a writer with the same name of Tim O Brien (para. 3). O Brien is aware that the practiced reader knows not to confuse the narrator with the author, and yet the reader is encouraged to do just that. The purpose, of course, is to keep the reader as unbalanced, as unsure, of what we are told to be truths, as is the Vietnam soldier. Another way in which O Brien blurs fiction and fact is through his narrator s (heretofore referred to as Tim), constant and contradictory claims as to the veracity of his stories. One moment Tim swears that a story is true, such as in the chapter The Man I Killed, when he speaks so realistically and in such detail, about killing an enemy soldier (THINGS 141), but ... • 34. A Hanging George Orwell Analysis George Orwell, an experienced Assistant Superintendent in the British Imperial Police, composed A Hanging after his resignation in 1927. The narrative is a personal testimony set in the 1920 s in Burma. Orwell uses the classical techniques of formal argument to depict the death of an unknown prisoner, while taking a position against the death penalty. George Orwell s Abolitionist message in A Hanging is conveyed through the prisoner, dog, functionaries, and their actions, words, and body language. The writer implies the prisoner s humanity by describing his emotions and ability to reason. After the execution, the Eurasian boy tells Orwell when the prisoner found out he would be hung, he pissed on the floor of his cell (Orwell 102). The boy s story signifies the prisoner s human characteristics through his reaction, as he was so scared he urinated on himself. As John Rodden notes, this happening creates sympathy (73). The action humanizes the prisoner, connecting the readers to him. Likewise, George Orwell details the condemned man s human like traits by describing the prisoner avoiding a puddle directly before his execution. This simple act causes a realization that the prisoner is also human. John Rodden states, The narrorator reinforces this point by drawing attention to the prisoner s humanity, as he a dead man walking diligently sidesteps a puddle (72). Rodden suggest that the dead man still has dignity to sidestep the puddle. The illustration of the prisoner s response to his death sentence and his avoidance of the water brings to the reader s attention that capital punishment is taking another human life. George Orwell conveys the prisoner as human in order to emphasis the dehumanization of capital punishment. As George Orwell states, He and we were a party of men walking together, seeing, hearing, feeling, understanding, the same world, and in two minutes, with a sudden snap, one of us would be gone (101). Orwell implies the prisoner is no different from him; yet, by killing the condemned man he is taking away his humanity. The author explains the prisoner s gait and stance as steady, bobbing from side to side with his knees bent. He does not protest, as he has accepted his fate. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. To what extent are volcanic landforms fundamental to our... To what extent are volcanic landforms fundamental to our understanding of plate tectonics theory? (40) Plate tectonics theory is the scientific theory that describes the large scale motion of the Earth s lithosphere, which is broken up into tectonic plates. Volcanic landforms are undoubtedly very important in aiding our understanding of plate tectonic theory. However, there is other evidence that must be considered as well. Different types of volcanoes are created at plate margins due to the viscosity of the lava. The two main types of volcanoes are composite volcanoes and shield volcanoes. Composite volcanoes are generally formed at destructive plate boundaries as high viscous lava is produced as less dense oceanic crust is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this is the south east coast of North America and the south west coast of Africa. This aids our understanding of plate tectonic theory on a large scale over millions of years. However, although there is a lot of evidence from volcanic landforms that can be used to explain plate tectonics theory, there is other important evidence that cannot be ignored. Fossil evidence is very important for our understanding of plate tectonics theory. Similar animal fossils have been found on the South American and African continents. These fossils suggest that the continents were once joined together. Fossils of an extinct reptile, named a Mesosaurus, have been found in southern Africa and South America. Scientists believe that the only explanation for this fossil being found on these two continents is that they were once joined and have become separated due to plate movements. Plant fossils, such as a fossil of the Glossopteris tree have been found in several countries across the Southern Hemisphere such as India, Australia and even Antarctica. The discovery of these fossils prompted scientists to conclude that these countries must once have been joined in one large land mass. The discovery of such fossils as this in Antarctica gives additional weight to this theory as vegetation cannot survive the harsh Antarctic environment suggesting that if vegetation has been able to grow previously, the positioning of the continent must have been ... • 36. Lineage-Based Perspective With there being more than 50,000 species of vertebrates alone it is essential for all biology majors to have a working knowledge of the tree of life. The two perspectives for teaching zoology are the Linnean taxonomical and the Phylogenetic clade based perspective. The Linnean taxonomical perspective is a rank based hierarchy while the phylogenetic clade based perspective groups species by focusing a common ancestor and its descendants. In regards to teaching zoology there is more value in using the phylogenetic clade based perspective rather than the Linnean perspective because it allows students to organize the details of biodiversity with a more rational system. Phylogenetic taxonomy focuses on common ancestry and derived functional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example; Coleoptera contains over three hundred thousand species while Primate contains roughly four hundred species including the human (Ballen, Cissy J., and Harry W. Greene). This lack of criteria is what causes the exclusion of taxonomic acknowledgment of major evolutionary innovations while inaccurately portraying history. It is also mentioned in Greene s more recent journal that the Linnean method fails at specifying clades based upon the origin of limbs in tetrapods and shelled egg amniotes. While it also, obscures the fact that crocodilians are more closely related to birds than they are to turtles, lizards, and snakes, which does not highlight many dramatic similarities between earlier archosaurs (Ballen, Cissy J., and Harry W. Greene). These two main concerns of omission and obscuration are why the phylogenetic clade based system is a far more valuable and beneficial methodology for teaching zoology. As it was mentioned previously, the phylogenetic clade based perspective only recognizes monophyletic taxa, which are those taxa derived from a common ancestor not shared with any other group. There is another argument being made that paraphyletic groups should not be included as units of study within a zoology course. Paraphyletic and monophyletic units of study both have their benefits and drawbacks however I believe that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
