Native Ancestors Practice Cannibalism For Ritual Purposes...
Our prehistoric ancestors practiced cannibalism not because of cultural expectations, but for survival.
Our oldest taboo has been the source of many debates, with researchers having different ideas about
why our ancestors would partake in such a barbaric activity. Evidence of this practice can be found
throughout the world, but in some cases the reasons differ. This presents a difficult question to be
answered, did our prehistoric ancestors practice cannibalism for ritual purposes or for survival? In one
of the sites where human remains were found to have been cannibalised was 14,700 years ago in
Gough s Cave. Biological anthropologist Silvia Bello and her colleagues have used microscopic
analyses to confirm that at least six people were dismembered and eaten. Human bite marks were
found along the ribs and other bones and evidence also shows that tools were used to obtain marrow. It
is one of the most well known archaeological examples of cannibalism being used by our ancestors.
The time period in which these remains existed was when England s climate was becoming colder
than usual, thus killing of prey and plants. Therefore, the search for food made the hunter gatherer s of
this time period desperate for food (Bower). Author and scholar specializing in paleoanthropology
Carole Henikoff breaks down the question of why our ancestors practiced cannibalism even further by
asking, Do our emotional and physical reactions to incoming stimuli reflect instinct or

Evolutionary Differences In X-Men
X Men (2000) is the first movie in the X Men film series, following a group of mutants who are born
with unique genetic mutations that manifest as a range of superpowers such as telepathy, shape
shifting and weather manipulation. Despite this film being highly entertaining and engaging, it is rife
with ideas that conflict with evolutionary principles, such as natural selection, which many
evolutionary biologists support.
A common misconception of the theory of evolution is that organisms are evolving to be superior to
previous species and continuously developing new adaptations that are better , with the human species
considered the best current evolution (Understanding Evolution, 2018). This misconception that
evolution results in progress is prevalent throughout the X Men film, ... Show more content on

Contrastingly, evolutionary scientists believe that evolution takes place over thousands of years, and
although natural selection does result in improved adaptations to survive and reproduce in select
environments (Wallace, 2007), this does not mean we can quantify species as better or worse . The
notion of the development of an overall better species can be considered impossible when it comes to
evolution. Environmental niches of individual species can differ immensely; therefore we cannot
select which traits are better overall, due to large ranges of selective pressures that make different
traits more suitable in different environments (Gregory, 2009). As an example, though humans are
misconceived as the most evolved species, in a fully aquatic environment, other species, for example a
clownfish, have a higher chance of survival and reproduction. Hence, a clownfish, ape, or bug is just
as evolved as humans, only in different directions. Moreover, environments are constantly changing in
regards to their climate, resource availability, species composition and physical structure; therefore, an
organism with adaptations that are beneficial in one context, may be

Design And Implementation Of A Defense Security Perimeter...
Design and Implementation of a Defense Security Perimeter System
Network security is becoming an increasingly important concern for small and midsize companies. A
breach in internal or external security can severely damage a company s most important operations,
hampering productivity, compromising data integrity, reducing customer confidence, disrupting
revenue flow, and bringing communications to a halt. This paper examines some of the new security
challenges that confront small and midsize businesses today, and discusses how defense security
perimeter solutions for wired and wireless networks. Information security (InfoSec) is the protection
of information and its critical elements, including the systems and hardware that use, store, and
transmit that information. To protect information and its related systems, each organization must
implement controls such as policy, awareness training, security education, and technical controls.
These security controls are organized into topical areas, and any successful organization will be able
to integrate them into a unified process that encompasses this. (Whitman, 2011) MD Security
Perimeter Consultants is a midsize company with 400 employees that specializes in business to
business products and services. Because all the business is with other businesses they Information
Security controls have to be simple, top of the line and scalable. In this paper, MD Perimeter Security

The American Culture And Values
Critiquing American Culture and Values: (The Social) Network The emergence of novel forms of
communication in American history tends to produce two contrasting reactions: general acceptance
from society and moral outrage from a limited, vocal portion of the public. As a medium, film was met
in such a fashion with the creation of the Production Code Administration in 1934, designed by
Catholic leaders to uphold their conception of American values. At the same time, the example of
Middletown depicted a rural community incorporating the experience of film into their regular lives,
treating it as entertainment alongside shows at the opera house. Decades later, we see film utilized to
criticize the social impact of emerging communicative methods, including television and social media
in the form of Network (1976) and The Social Network (2010). A method of universal programing, by
which centralized, censored content is broadcast in synchronous to an audience discriminant only by
which of the four major networks they choose to view is the portrayal of television afforded by the
characters aimed to garner the most sympathy in Network. The voices of reason and morality in the
film, older folks seen as untainted by television and corporate greed condemn television for replacing
genuine human interaction with hollow facades of conformity and pre scripted emotions. While
concerns over lacking human connection and false human emotions remain, social media has

Dbq Who Killed Reconstruction Essay
Do you ever wonder who really killed Reconstruction? Reconstruction was the period between 1865
1877 where the North was trying to help African Americans gain political equality. Reconstruction
gave freedmen their freedom through the 13th amendment, citizenship and civil rights through the
14th amendment, and the right to vote for the 15th amendment. People such as carpetbaggers,
Northerners who went south to help with Reconstruction and scalawags, southern whites who
supported Reconstruction, were supporters of Reconstruction. However, many white supremacist
groups such as the Ku Klux Klan didn t and even tried to intimidate freedmen and Republicans to try
to bring an end to Reconstruction and equal rights for freed slaves. From this, it shows that
Reconstruction died of two causes, northern neglect and southern resistance. However, I think
northern neglect was the primary cause of the end of Reconstruction. ... Show more content on

For example, Northerners were starting to feel indifferent about events in the South as the North grew
weary of the Negro Question and the government supporting carpetbaggers (Doc. C, Danzer). Also,
according to the cartoon, Grant is diving in the barrel to try to find all the scandals, which means that
because of the scandals, the North will focus more on the scandals than on Reconstruction (Doc. C,
cartoon). The North was also starting to view freedmen in a racist way, saying that they were unfit for
the proper exercise of political duties because of them being slaves for so long, they weren t capable
of running a government without assistance (Doc. D, Richardson). They also racially depicted African
Americans as fat, loud, and undisciplined politicians (Doc. D,

Community Policing Within The United States Department Of...
Over time the policing community has faced many different changes to be able to keep up with the
new times. The system has adapted many new techniques and a different approach to how they solve
problems. Community policing has taken on a number of definition, but put simply it is a working
partnership with a community that helps make the area a better environment to subside in. The main
goals of community policing is to reduce neighborhood crime, help reduce fear of crime and enhance
the quality of life in the community. The United States Department of Justice has defined community
policing as a philosophy that focuses on crime and social disorder through the delivery of police
services that includes aspects of traditional law enforcement, as well as prevention, problem solving,
community engagement, and partnerships. However, community policing can be looked at as not so
much a strategy, but a philosophy about how things should be done. According to The Unites States
Department of Justice At its core, community oriented policing is based on law enforcement and the
community joining together to identify and address issues of crime and social disorder. With new
advances and community oriented policing, law enforcement is taking steps in the right direction.
Over the course of the semester there have been many instances in which shows that new technology
advances have proven to be nothing but beneficial for law enforcement. In an article written by Ron

Analysis Of Kathryn Stockett s The Help
It s the 1960s in Jackson, Mississippi during one blistering summer where all the workers in the cotton
fields pray for the end of the day and the maids are polishing the silver until their fingers go numb in
efforts to hurry up the day. Kathryn Stockett s The Help observes the life of African American maids
during the 1960s in Jackson, Mississippi where they are fighting for their rights. Focusing on the
viewpoints of two different maids as well as a women pursuing journalism, The Help engages the
reader into the despair of civil rights. With a risky idea from the journalist, the maids tell their stories
of working for the privileged white people. The intention to explain the workers lives happens to be

For a minute, we re just two people wondering why things are the way they are (Minny; 235). With
such an upsetting scene, Stockett provides understanding of how we are not as different as we think.
Minny is sympathetic towards Celia because no woman should have to endure what she has and to
have gone through it more than once. Trust begins to form between the two ladies as the book goes on
and their relationship breaks the chains of segregation. Minny Jackson and Celia Foote s relationship
is only one of the connections between whites and colors that Stockett presents in her novel. Even
though Minny and Celia had an understanding relationship, Stockett provides intense moments
between the two in order to draw connections to the reader. But Stockett brilliantly changes our
perspective with the women narrating so we may observe the full effect of each decision the character
produce. Thus while we have one maid beginning to understand the life of her boss and how it s not so
different from her issues, we are also presented with the difficulties that another maid endures.
Aibileen Clark happens to be the other African American narrator of The Help, she watches over white
babies and tries to teach them that the colour of skin does not determine who a person is. The little girl
that she s watching over in the novel is ignored by her mother so Aibileen reminds her that she is
worth loving. There are multiple instances

people would call us el sumito, el indito. If we thought and spoke as Mayangnas, we could be locked

transformed seeds, and the imposition of another identity. 1

How Does Dave Eggers Create A Dystopian Society
Utopias tend to capture an idealistic view of a society. Complete perfection is impossible; it creates a
system that is inherently imperfect causing utopias to turn into dystopias. The advancement of
technology has created a dystopian ideal of society in which the agency of privacy is challenged. Dave
Eggers novel The Circle depicts a society where individuals have capitalized on the idea of a
technologically controlled world. Mae, the protagonist in the novel slowly becomes an icon of the
digital age. Eggers asserts of the dangers of living in a technological utopian society through the use
of character development. In The Circle, Dave Eggers uses Mae s gradual conversion in order to
describe her as the paragon of a transparent society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mae s eventual desire to make everything transparent is one of Eggers underlying messages. After her
Kayaking trip, Mae engages in a conversation with Bailey who asks her if she wants to share with the
public what she was doing earlier. She replies by saying, You give them anything you can. If you care
about their plight, their suffering, their curiosity, their right to learn and know anything the world
contains, you share with them. You share what you have and what you see and what you know. To me,
the logic there is undeniable. Egger uses Mae s drastic change into a less private person as the central
point in his assertion. Mae s character development explains the changes in a society that is becoming
transparent. She was more vigilant with what she made public. Soon, she begins to feed off the Circle
s ideas of transparency eventually joining SeeChange. Seechange is a form of program that utilizes
small cameras that are worn mostly by politicians and ultimately by Mae. The camera s purpose is to
go transparent; to show the public everything. Society will eventually become like Mae. Society will

Media is so rampant, a whole chapter of human history can be written only based on advertisements

human emotions, social behaviors, moral values, and many more attributes. People are literally
surrounded and bombarded with advertisements; with every turn of a head or click of a button they

important wants and needs of society. Some of these wants and needs include food, fashion, sex,

Assessing India s Mobile Number Portability
India has more than 900 million mobile connections.
To assess the MNP it is of paramount importance to understand the psyche of the Indian consumer.
More than 95% mobile subscribers are prepaid, reflecting a price sensitive consumer. This in
conjunction with aggressive price competition has led to a high churn rate. Under these circumstances
MNP should be high in demand. But contrary to this in the first 12 months after MNP implementation
in 2011, only 5% of the churning customers preferred to take benefit of MNP, clearly indicating lower
affinity for the same number.
This trend could be attributed to several factors. Subscribers in India lack the patience to wait a week
for while the porting procedure is completed. On the other hand the prominence of free SIM cards,
instantly available at every nook and corner, has very much reduced consumer s apprehension of
letting go of the number. Growth in Multi Sim card devices has also helped consumers to hold on to
the previous numbers while going in for a new cheaper alternative. What did not help is the discretion
used by the operators in many cases to reject porting applications. In such a high churn market, the 90
day waiting period between two porting applications restricts the free movement of subscribers, who
are always on the lookout for the cheapest telecom plan. MNP hasn t been without its share of
controversies. TRAI has had to file litigations against three telecom companies on the ground of not
disclosing to the

Abstract Technology has become a hot item for school district to implement into the classroom. The

Technology is no longer considered to be a special event by students, but is expected to be integrated
into the classroom (Koeber 2005). Even with many districts trying to push 21st century technology
into the classroom mainly failures still exist. These failures range from lack of achievement increases
(Oxford 2006) to struggles with overall plans created by school districts (Owen 2004). The use of
technology must be integrated into the classroom. However, many stakeholders that are on the outside
looking in do not understand how complex this process can be on teachers and the school districts
(Windschitle 2002). It is the purpose of this paper to explore need for technology into classrooms and
to explain why this can be such a problem. To represent the need for technology in the classroom 21st
century learning styles and successful integration techniques will be used. An argument will be made
for why technology has been so hard to correctly integrate. Finally, correct implementation techniques
on a district, school, and classroom level will be examined to show that technology can and should be
used in today s classroom.

My Journey Of Reflection During Project 1
Upon my journey of reflection during project 1, I have realized that I value education. It s a way of not
only gaining knowledge but sharing it with others. This caused me to gain interest in finding
organizations for project 2 that relates to the idea of sharing knowledge and experiences. OU Cousin s
is an organization held on campus. Their purpose is to match international students with one American
student who shares the same interest, major, and hobbies. They encourage and promote the
involvement of students with each other to develop the understanding of different cultures and
experiences as well as creating new friendships. As reported on their website under the About Us
category, it says The OU Cousins program was created in 1996 by President and Mrs. David Boren as
a way of developing understanding, friendship, and unity among U.S., International, and exchange
students at the University of Oklahoma. . I found this very interesting because I m an international
student, and one of the most things I would love to do is share my culture with other people. A
majority of people assume negative or misleading thoughts about different cultures. People have
strong opinions and ways of thinking. That s why most international students always enjoy explaining
and sharing their experiences and beliefs about their cultures. Moreover, that is why I believe that OU
Cousins provides a great community for having a chance to educate one another about each other s
culture.

Boris Kaufman s cinematography is spare and creates a claustrophobic feel (eds Higgins Ross 2008, p.

tension building and puts the characters actions centre stage (Buchanan Huczynski 2004, p. 316).
Even though colour had been around for years by 1957, the film is shot in black and white. The lack

Acute Stress Disorder ( Asd )
Within weeks after a traumatizing event, one may develop an anxiety disorder called acute stress
disorder (ASD). Acute stress disorder is a psychiatric condition characterized by acute stress responses
that may last from 2 days to 4 weeks do to a traumatic life event. Following the experience of a
traumatic event, an evaluation of ASD requires that a person experiences an extreme emotional
reaction to a stress contributor, along with receiving symptoms that lead to impairment or distress
(Shevlin, Hyland, Elklit, 2014). Acute stress is the most common form of stress. It comes from
insistence and pressures of the recent past and upcoming demands and pressures of the near future.
Acute stress can be thrilling and exciting in small measures, but having too much can be exhausting
(FeldmanHall et al., 2015). Acute stress disorder (ASD) was introduced into DSM IV. Scientists
wanted to be able to describe acute stress reactions that takes place in the initial month after dealing
with a traumatic event and before the possibility of diagnosing post traumatic stress disorder. They
wanted to be able to identify trauma survivors in the acute phase who are high risk for post traumatic
stress disorder (Bryant., 1999). Scientists created a review that considers ASD in relation to other
approaches to Acute stress responses, to critique and discuss ASD in relation to Adjustment Disorder.
After completing the review the scientist found the evidence suggests that ASD does not adequately

Racial Discrimination And Religion
Racial discrimination and religion are among the most discussed personal and public policy topics
today. The United States is often divided over issues that have these differences at their heart. From
the controversy surrounding confederate monuments in public locations to freedom of religion, the
country, it seems, can never come together and agree in these areas. These issues have, in fact, been
hot topics for discussion and disagreement for centuries. Even in the Antebellum period, people were
at odds with each other attempting to resolve differences that, while they were unique for their time,
still were manifestations of the same larger issues of race and religion. In those days, there was great
fervor related to both the Great Awakening and rise of abolitionism in response to the slave system of
the South that persisted into the 19th century. The Great Awakening refers to a dramatic rise in the
popularity in evangelical religion in America. The First Great Awakening took place in the early to
mid 18th century while English speaking America was still made up of colonies that were owned by
the British. The Second Great Awakening, which is more pertinent to this research, reached its peak
early in the 19th century. During the Second Great Awakening there was a dramatic swell in
evangelical church membership occurred in denominations like the Baptists and Methodists, whose
ministers were the leaders of the movement. Religious discord could come from a variety of sources,

situation.
a) The Threat of New Entry (Medium)
Xiaomi has been facing the threat of new entrants. The market sizing and promising technology
panorama has brought many competitors to try and grab market share in China. Other companies like
Lenovo and HTC are also follow the same strategy as Xiaomi to make economical and productively

What We Are Advertisers By James Twitchell
Advertising has come a long way in terms of advancement with the enlightenment of the new
technological age we live in now. In James Twitchell s essay What We Are to Advertisers, the author
explains that mass production means mass marketing, and mass marketing means the creation of mass
stereotypes. Generally, the use of stereotypical profiling in our society not only exists in regards to
race, social class, personality type, and gender but also holds a special meaning in advertising circles
as well. To advertisers, stereotyping has become an effective means to pitch their products according
to the personality profiles they have concocted for us and are most times eerily accurate. For instance,
according to advertisers, the daytime ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Believers are people who support traditional codes of family, church, and community, wearing
good Republican cloth coats. These are predictable people who wear and recognize brand names. The
Achievers are not only successful, but they demonstrate their success by buying objects such as
prestige cars to show it. The Strivers are usually a little unsure of themselves. They are willing to buy
brands as long as it is a prestigious name brand. According to Twitchell, Money defines their success
but they don t have enough of it (Twitchell). The Experiencers live life on the edge. They are
enthusiastic, impulsive, and even a little reckless sometimes. The Makers are practical people. They
are conservative, suspicious, and respectful. The Strugglers are usually chronically poor people who
enjoy materialism whenever they can afford it. It s amazing yet spooky how the advertising industry
can categorize us into these stereotypical profiles so accurately just by watching our behaviors,
observing our lifestyles, ascertaining our disposable income, and studying our set of values. Is our
buying pattern really connected to the things we believe in and what we do for a living? Whether we
are consciously aware of it or not, it is personally amazing just how much a simple purchase can
reveal about am individual to marketing research strategists. Little known to the public is just how far
advertising and marketing companies will go

The Definition Of The Art And Science Of Nursing
The Art and Science of Nursing Nursing is art and science, carried out by nurses of all ages and
backgrounds who all bring their own personal and professional experience and beliefs. The nursing
profession was built on a foundation of art and science and both must be embraced. I will be
explaining my definition of the concepts of the art and the science of nursing and the aspect that drew
me into the profession personally. Two TED talks will also be discussed about what I feel are their
common themes and how those themes relate to nursing.
The Art of Nursing The art of nursing is the compassion and care nurses put into their care daily with
the major focus being the patient. It is therapeutic communication that conveys the message with
respect, empathy, and understanding. It is being a strong advocate, compassionate care giver and a
great listener. The art of nursing also means to be aware. Knowing when your patient needs something
without them having to verbally express those needs, including both physical and emotional needs. In
my daily practice, I exhibit the use of the art of nursing by genuinely caring for my patients, not only
administering medications, and performing other scheduled tasks, but taking the time to get to know
them. I strive to learn at least one thing about each patient I care for that has nothing to do with their
illness. Taking care of a patient s emotional needs is as important as caring for their physical needs.

The United States Presidential Elections
The United States presidential elections are this year, 2016, in November. As a student, a citizen, or an

this point in the race there are only five people left that are running, Donald trump (R), Bernie Sanders

Social Aspects Of Islam Mohammed
I have a feeling that talking about this rather sensitive topic will raise hell and will indeed upset many
who actually deeply believe that their bloodline goes back to the Prophet of Islam Mohammed
(PBUH). However, I strongly believe that it is about time that we talk about this phenomenon, which
only congregate our ignorance and backwardness.
Growing in a conservative and religious environment, many social aspects of life in Morocco did not
make sense to my head, and my brain could and will never be able to digest how the vast majority of
Moroccans, regardless their social status, believe that they have all a sacred lineage to the Holy House.
They believe that their bloodline takes all the way back to the Prophet. This includes the rich and the
poor, the educated and the illiterate; they all claim some type of holiness and show it off when
opportunities occur and permit.
In a previous analysis, I talked about how Islam has been widely and abusively used throughout
Moroccan history to gain power and wealth. This has been proven and recorded in history books. Each
ruling dynasty used the banner of religion to overthrow the declining and fading dynasty.
When Islam was introduced to humanity, it introduced a doctrine, which promotes a social equality
and called for abolishing of social differences. Islam praises those who do good deeds and abide by
the Divine rules set by the Deity and His Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). There is no single verse in the

Abstract
There are many differences between classical and operant conditioning that will be discussed in this
paper. These two types of conditioning are often misinterpreted by many individuals; therefore, it is
important to distinguish the two. Learning the different ways animals function and the new behaviors
they adapt to are of interest to both Ivan Pavlov and Edward Thorndike. .Sex differences are measured

For instance, a toddler who burns his hand on a cooking stove will be less likely to come near it next
time, remembering how he got burnt from it. Another form of punishment is when a behavior ends on
a desirable event.
An example of this is when a boy pulls his sister s hair and is given a time out, which has lost his
privilege to watch TV. The boy has learnt a lesson because he won t dare to even touch his sister s hair
remembering he had lost his privilege to watch TV.
Classical conditioning deals with involuntary responses, primarily involving emotions, whereas,
operant conditioning deals with voluntary responses that are active behaviors operating within the
environment. Compared to operant conditioning, classical conditioning is more passive because in
operant conditioning, learners are either getting rewarded for something or punished for something,
which keeps the process active. Organisms experience a consequence despite of the fact they have
learned the conditioned response. On the other hand, in operant conditioning, the consequence is
dependent on the likelihood of the organism reacting to the response. Khawaja 5

making his pictures colorful and powerful. The difference is that Guan Zhong Wu uses ink to draw
abstract paintings. Ink is more diluted than oil paint because every time use ink painter need to put
water in it, making his abstract paintings looks more concise and have different feeling. However, as
long as painters understand this kind of painting, different painting tools will achieve different results.
According to Zheng(2008:30 32),in the study of painting, students need to know the history of the
development of painting tools, and the basic knowledge of how to use the painting tools, that will help
them to create their own paintings. In conclusion, it is important for the painter to understand and use
the appropriate drawing tools.
The point and line to plane (Kandinsky 1979:6) is the painting element, such as the letters that make

every different art the elements of art are certainly different. However, it is necessary to first
distinguish the basic elements from the other elements, no artwork does not have these artistic
elements. Therefore, the common feature between Wassily Kandinsky s paintings and Guan Zhong

Paragraph On Afternoon Tea
Afternoon Tea The enjoyment of drinking tea like the British Patrician
British are illustrious as a fan of tea. England is the country outside of Asia, which is known as the
world s largest tea consumer. Since it was first introduced in the 17th century, the popularity of tea in
Britain is so shot. This popularity led to the motto of tea time which eventually became an essential
activity in the lives of the British. British predilection to drink tea evolved a tradition of drinking tea in
the afternoon which is known as the Afternoon Tea . The characteristic of this tea related ritual is the
tea served with snacks that arranged in the three tier tray.

activity usually held around three to five in the afternoon, it called as afternoon tea .
In contrast to the tradition of drinking tea in Asian countries, Afternoon Tea more as a moment to meet

The Entangled Political Economy Of Copyright
The Entangled Political Economy of Copyright
Colin Harris1 ABSTRACT: This paper uses the entangled political economy framework developed by
Wagner (2014) to analyze the effects that copyright legislation has on content producers and pirate
communities. I identify Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies as part of the superfluous
discovery process that results when politically enforced copyright legislation works to subsidize the
cost of creating property rights in creative goods. I also analyze the effects that criminal sanctions
against copyright infringement have on how pirate communities choose to self organize. I conclude
with the claim that the entangled framework provides for better analysis than the tradition additive
political economy framework because copyright does not work to control the outcome of the system
and correct for the market failure associated with creative goods, rather it influences specific nodes in
the entangled system in particular ways. KEYWORDS: Copyright, Digital Piracy, Entangled Political

Effects of Emotional Abuse Essay example
Each year more cases of Emotional abuse go unreported because the majority of people experiencing
emotional abuse are not aware that it is happening. I was one of these people years ago; it took some

one can tell they are being emotionally abused, and ways to get help. While Undefined, Emotional
abuse affects more people each day because they do not know that they are being abused. Abuse is any

The abuse is usually frequent enough that the victim internalizes it. This leaves the victim feeling
fearful, insignificant, untrusting, emotionally needy, and unlovable. Survivors of this form of abuse
have a hard time understanding why they feel so bad (Munro, K. 2001.).
This form of abuse does not only affect adults, it also frequently affects children as well. In fact a
study done by the United States National Incidence of Child Abuse and Neglect reports that 204,500
out of 1.5 million children are reported as being emotionally abused and 212,800 of the 1.5 million
children are reported as being emotionally neglected (Court Watch, 2007).
Emotional abuse is one of the most common forms of child abuse. When it comes to children
emotional abuse includes encouraging children to develop self destructive behavior, behavior that is
threatening or likely to place the child or the child s loved ones in danger, excessive, aggressive or
unreasonable demands in which place expectations on a child that a child cannot meet, and ignoring a
child s attempt to interact. Emotional abuse in a child also includes the failure to provide the proper
nurturing necessary for a child s psychological growth and development. Terrorizing is the most
common form of emotional abuse recognized in the case files, with nearly 81.1 percent of emotionally
abuse children suffering from it. 63 percent of the emotionally abused children have experienced

he is the center around which the Roman world revolves, the cornerstone and pillar of the edifice of
the empire. Shaking him down endangers the whole, (Brightest Heaven of Invention, pg.95). Minutes

Charles And Valerie Diker Collection Essay
The Native American Masterpieces from the Charles and Valerie Diker Collection exhibition is a
selection of extraordinary Native American works of art that is drawn entirely from the New York s
Charles and Valerie Diker Collection. The collection celebrates the Native North American legacy and
the artist s attainments from culturally diverse indigenous civilizations across the North American
region.
The works are arranged thematically. Certain objects of the same category were placed fairly close to
each other and the works overall in the exhibition were placed in a spherical rotation. The collection
shows the Native North American s legacy well. For instance, Shamans wore protective or spiritually
charged pendants such as the object unrecorded Tlingit Artist, Shaman s amulet, 1820 40, Antler,
abalone shell . To display their belief in the complex mythology surrounding the energy of the erratic
desert landscape and mainly the life giving power of rainwater and mountains, the people of the
American Southwest hand built pottery that features imagery reflecting their deep spirituality, such as

This work shows Standing Bear s experience of the battle, which was the battle where Sitting Bull and
Crazy Horse, leaders of the Sioux on the Great Plains, fought against U.S. Lieutenant George A.
Custer. The Native American warriors can be identified as the bright colored figures wearing the
feathered war bonnets. The U.S soldiers appear more gray toned and darker. The image shows an
overall chaotic scene full of movement and conveys intensity. It gives an excessive sense of what the
Native Americans were fighting for. To protect and keep their homeland from invaders and from what
the object label says, the small tipis represent a summer village for hundreds of families , they were
just humans who had families and sought to shield their

According to Duckworth came to feel it was not as relevant when it came to outstanding achievement
people who accomplish great things. The growth mindset with effort certainly effort is key to
achievements I think she really means that the more you show effort then you can get better grades..
She also said but most people do not know that when they practice and learn things because when they
learn things and they might not practice for it but she wants them to show effort. Like Angela
Duckworth said that the idea of grit and self control is that you get that through failure, Randolph
explained Students believe that effort will help you improve to your future. He said that because I

Analysis Of Neural Functional Unit
it has been seen that algorithm can improve the memory bandwidth. here the accelerator can be used
in hardware design to improve the memory efficiency. In recent year, the hardware architecture for
deep learning employed the GPU to increase the speed. next it moved to FPGA and then latest one is
ASIC with extra unit. the Application specific integrated circuit (AISC) is integrated circuit which is
used to developing hardware to solve a problem by building gates to emulate the logic. The purpose of
the chips to provide maximum performance at given power and cost budget. ASIC provide some sort

Pipeline for stage n of NFU can be written as NFU n.
So here NFU 3 function implementation which has previously proposed in the literature [19,20], the
sigmoid of NFU 3 is for classifier and convolution layers which uses linear interpolation (f(x) = ai _x
+ bi; x 2 [xi; xi+1]) with negligible loss of accuracy. the operator used here are two 16x1 16 bit
multiplexer, one 16 bit nultiplier and one 16 bit adder to perform thre interpolation. the 16 segment
coefficient(Ai,Bi) are stored in small RAM.This segment is used to implemenet any fucntion not only
sigmoid but also hyperbolic, nonlienar function as well as tangent by changing the RAM segment
coefficient Ai, Bi. the segment boundairs(Xi, Xi+1) are hardwired.
Storage: There are four type of storage used in accelerator are NBin, NBout, SB and NFU 2 Modified
buffer of Scratchpad can be used as storage. Here scratchpad use as storage which has advantage over
normal cache. Because normal cache organization is attached tag check, associatively, line size,
speculative read, etc and cache conflicts which are overhead. The efficient alternative, scratchpad, is
used in VLIW processors though it tough to compile for. However a scratchpad in a committed
accelerator realize the best things are efficient storage, and both efficient and easy utilization of
locality because only a few algorithms have to be manually modified. The split buffers is one of the
storage into three structures: an

Reflection Of A Good Wife
In 1955, the article entitled, The Good Wife s Guide, detailing all the ways that a wife should act in a
certain ways and how best she can be a partner to her husband and a mother to her children. I believe
that being a good wife runs so much deeper than making dinner, washing undies, and doing the dishes.
It s about prioritizing your family and loving them with all of your heart. As the years pass on, the
society became more open minded about the tradition stereotype gender role. The changes also
included both wife and husband were expected to help each other and the house chores was divided.
The wife is not only the main charged of doing all the house works and prepare food for the family.
Men were also expected to make some contribution to take part in the household works. Whomever
the person went home first whether the husband or the wife, the person is expected to clean up the
house if it s needed, prepare dinner for the family and expected to take care the children. Back in
1995, the wife encourages to wash the children s face, comb their hair and change their clothes.
Importantly, she had to reduce all the noise of washer or vacuum and encourage the children to be
quiet at the time when the husband came home because the husband had spent long enough hours at
his work. When he got home, it s his time to relax and enjoy his time freely without interfering his
moment. But in the 2010 guideline, the expectation for the wife is to encourage the kids to be excited

The Negative Effects Of Corporal Punishment On Children
Among the various forms of children punishments, corporal punishment has been revealed to be an
ineffective form of correction due to the negative consequences associated with it. Corporal
punishment involves subjecting children to physical pain as a corrective measure to prevent them from
engaging in inappropriate behaviors. This is a type of power assertive method of discipline where
children are subjected to punishments without explanation or justification. They grow up in fear of the
consequences of corporal punishment rather than understanding the right from the wrong. The
consequences associated with physical punishment include both physical and emotional abuse that has
adverse effects on the growth and development of children. As a result of corporal punishments,
children are often left with disabilities or bad medical conditions in case of injuries during
punishment. The children are also abused emotionally through the vulgar language that is often used
by the parents during the administration of the punishments. This physical and emotional abuses that
children are subjected to makes them lead a disturbed life in future. The recommended approach of
discipline is therefore the inductive method where the children are guided with explanation and
justification in case of punishments in order to understand rather than fear the reason behind the
punishment. Physical punishment is determined to have adverse effects that impact negatively on the
self esteem of a child.

Normative, Informational and Persuasive Social Influences
1. Compare and contrast normative and informational social influence. Informational Influence and
Normative Influence are both categorized under conformity in sociology. Informational is basically
when we conform to others behavior because we believe it provides information about reality. It is
often when we care about getting the right answer and trying to be rational. It also deals with the
Maybe they know something I don t know phenomenon. An example, could be choosing to eat at a
busier restaurant opposed to the empty one, or imitating the locals when outside your country. In
contrast, Normative Influence is when we conform to others behavior because they expect us to. This
is when we believe conforming may have positive consequences, such as approval or the enhancement
of our reputation, or when we believe not conforming may have negative consequences, such as
disapproval or punishment. An example of Normative Influence is laughing at a joke you don t get, or
agreeing with an opinion you believe in others. Informational Social Influence this theory consists of
the need to analyze different the information and different points of view. When a person is found in
an unknown environment, without sufficient information about it. That person will look at other
people s behavior to know what the social norm is and will then behave in a similar way. People need
information about their environment to feel comfortable. An example of this would be, if you were
waiting at the

Our oldest taboo has been the source of many debates, with researchers having different ideas about why our ancestors would partake in such a barbaric activity. Evidence of this practice can be found throughout the world, but in some cases the reasons differ. This presents a difficult question to be answered, did our prehistoric ancestors practice cannibalism for ritual purposes or for survival? In one of the sites where human remains were found to have been cannibalised was 14,700 years ago in Gough s Cave. Biological anthropologist Silvia Bello and her colleagues have used microscopic analyses to confirm that at least six people were dismembered and eaten. Human bite marks were found along the ribs and other bones and evidence also shows that tools were used to obtain marrow. It is one of the most well known archaeological examples of cannibalism being used by our ancestors. The time period in which these remains existed was when England s climate was becoming colder than usual, thus killing of prey and plants. Therefore, the search for food made the hunter gatherer s of this time period desperate for food (Bower). Author and scholar specializing in paleoanthropology Carole Henikoff breaks down the question of why our ancestors practiced cannibalism even further by asking, Do our emotional and physical reactions to incoming stimuli reflect instinct or ... Evolutionary Differences In X-Men X Men (2000) is the first movie in the X Men film series, following a group of mutants who are born with unique genetic mutations that manifest as a range of superpowers such as telepathy, shape shifting and weather manipulation. Despite this film being highly entertaining and engaging, it is rife with ideas that conflict with evolutionary principles, such as natural selection, which many evolutionary biologists support. A common misconception of the theory of evolution is that organisms are evolving to be superior to previous species and continuously developing new adaptations that are better , with the human species considered the best current evolution (Understanding Evolution, 2018). This misconception that evolution results in progress is prevalent throughout the X Men film, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Contrastingly, evolutionary scientists believe that evolution takes place over thousands of years, and although natural selection does result in improved adaptations to survive and reproduce in select environments (Wallace, 2007), this does not mean we can quantify species as better or worse . The notion of the development of an overall better species can be considered impossible when it comes to evolution. Environmental niches of individual species can differ immensely; therefore we cannot select which traits are better overall, due to large ranges of selective pressures that make different traits more suitable in different environments (Gregory, 2009). As an example, though humans are misconceived as the most evolved species, in a fully aquatic environment, other species, for example a clownfish, have a higher chance of survival and reproduction. Hence, a clownfish, ape, or bug is just as evolved as humans, only in different directions. Moreover, environments are constantly changing in regards to their climate, resource availability, species composition and physical structure; therefore, an organism with adaptations that are beneficial in one context, may be ... The American Culture And Values Critiquing American Culture and Values: (The Social) Network The emergence of novel forms of communication in American history tends to produce two contrasting reactions: general acceptance from society and moral outrage from a limited, vocal portion of the public. As a medium, film was met in such a fashion with the creation of the Production Code Administration in 1934, designed by Catholic leaders to uphold their conception of American values. At the same time, the example of Middletown depicted a rural community incorporating the experience of film into their regular lives, treating it as entertainment alongside shows at the opera house. Decades later, we see film utilized to criticize the social impact of emerging communicative methods, including television and social media in the form of Network (1976) and The Social Network (2010). A method of universal programing, by which centralized, censored content is broadcast in synchronous to an audience discriminant only by which of the four major networks they choose to view is the portrayal of television afforded by the characters aimed to garner the most sympathy in Network. Reconstruction was the period between 1865 1877 where the North was trying to help African Americans gain political equality. Reconstruction gave freedmen their freedom through the 13th amendment, citizenship and civil rights through the 14th amendment, and the right to vote for the 15th amendment. People such as carpetbaggers, Northerners who went south to help with Reconstruction and scalawags, southern whites who supported Reconstruction, were supporters of Reconstruction. However, many white supremacist groups such as the Ku Klux Klan didn t and even tried to intimidate freedmen and Republicans to try to bring an end to Reconstruction and equal rights for freed slaves. To assess the MNP it is of paramount importance to understand the psyche of the Indian consumer. More than 95% mobile subscribers are prepaid, reflecting a price sensitive consumer. This in conjunction with aggressive price competition has led to a high churn rate. Under these circumstances MNP should be high in demand. But contrary to this in the first 12 months after MNP implementation in 2011, only 5% of the churning customers preferred to take benefit of MNP, clearly indicating lower affinity for the same number. This trend could be attributed to several factors. Subscribers in India lack the patience to wait a week for while the porting procedure is completed. On the other hand the prominence of free SIM cards, instantly available at every nook and corner, has very much reduced consumer s apprehension of letting go of the number. Growth in Multi Sim card devices has also helped consumers to hold on to the previous numbers while going in for a new cheaper alternative. What did not help is the discretion used by the operators in many cases to reject porting applications. In such a high churn market, the 90 day waiting period between two porting applications restricts the free movement of subscribers, who are always on the lookout for the cheapest telecom plan. The Definition Of The Art And Science Of Nursing The Art and Science of Nursing Nursing is art and science, carried out by nurses of all ages and backgrounds who all bring their own personal and professional experience and beliefs. The nursing profession was built on a foundation of art and science and both must be embraced. I will be explaining my definition of the concepts of the art and the science of nursing and the aspect that drew me into the profession personally. Two TED talks will also be discussed about what I feel are their common themes and how those themes relate to nursing. The Art of Nursing The art of nursing is the compassion and care nurses put into their care daily with the major focus being the patient. It is therapeutic communication that conveys the message with respect, empathy, and understanding. It is being a strong advocate, compassionate care giver and a great listener. The art of nursing also means to be aware. Knowing when your patient needs something without them having to verbally express those needs, including both physical and emotional needs. In my daily practice, I exhibit the use of the art of nursing by genuinely caring for my patients, not only administering medications, and performing other scheduled tasks, but taking the time to get to know them. I strive to learn at least one thing about each patient I care for that has nothing to do with their illness. Taking care of a patient s emotional needs is as important as caring for their physical needs. The Science of Nursing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Social Aspects Of Islam Mohammed I have a feeling that talking about this rather sensitive topic will raise hell and will indeed upset many who actually deeply believe that their bloodline goes back to the Prophet of Islam Mohammed (PBUH). However, I strongly believe that it is about time that we talk about this phenomenon, which only congregate our ignorance and backwardness. Growing in a conservative and religious environment, many social aspects of life in Morocco did not make sense to my head, and my brain could and will never be able to digest how the vast majority of Moroccans, regardless their social status, believe that they have all a sacred lineage to the Holy House. They believe that their bloodline takes all the way back to the Prophet. This includes the rich and the poor, the educated and the illiterate; they all claim some type of holiness and show it off when opportunities occur and permit. In a previous analysis, I talked about how Islam has been widely and abusively used throughout Moroccan history to gain power and wealth. This has been proven and recorded in history books. Each ruling dynasty used the banner of religion to overthrow the declining and fading dynasty. When Islam was introduced to humanity, it introduced a doctrine, which promotes a social equality and called for abolishing of social differences. The boy has learnt a lesson because he won t dare to even touch his sister s hair remembering he had lost his privilege to watch TV. Classical conditioning deals with involuntary responses, primarily involving emotions, whereas, operant conditioning deals with voluntary responses that are active behaviors operating within the environment. Compared to operant conditioning, classical conditioning is more passive because in operant conditioning, learners are either getting rewarded for something or punished for something, which keeps the process active. • 32. The Entangled Political Economy Of Copyright The Entangled Political Economy of Copyright Colin Harris1 ABSTRACT: This paper uses the entangled political economy framework developed by Wagner (2014) to analyze the effects that copyright legislation has on content producers and pirate communities. I identify Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies as part of the superfluous discovery process that results when politically enforced copyright legislation works to subsidize the cost of creating property rights in creative goods. I also analyze the effects that criminal sanctions against copyright infringement have on how pirate communities choose to self organize. I conclude with the claim that the entangled framework provides for better analysis than the tradition additive political economy framework because copyright does not work to control the outcome of the system and correct for the market failure associated with creative goods, rather it influences specific nodes in the entangled system in particular ways. Storage: There are four type of storage used in accelerator are NBin, NBout, SB and NFU 2 Modified buffer of Scratchpad can be used as storage. Here scratchpad use as storage which has advantage over normal cache. Because normal cache organization is attached tag check, associatively, line size, speculative read, etc and cache conflicts which are overhead. The efficient alternative, scratchpad, is used in VLIW processors though it tough to compile for. However a scratchpad in a committed accelerator realize the best things are efficient storage, and both efficient and easy utilization of locality because only a few algorithms have to be manually modified. The split buffers is one of the storage into three structures: an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Reflection Of A Good Wife In 1955, the article entitled, The Good Wife s Guide, detailing all the ways that a wife should act in a certain ways and how best she can be a partner to her husband and a mother to her children. I believe that being a good wife runs so much deeper than making dinner, washing undies, and doing the dishes. It s about prioritizing your family and loving them with all of your heart. As the years pass on, the society became more open minded about the tradition stereotype gender role. The changes also included both wife and husband were expected to help each other and the house chores was divided. The wife is not only the main charged of doing all the house works and prepare food for the family. Men were also expected to make some contribution to take part in the household works. Whomever the person went home first whether the husband or the wife, the person is expected to clean up the house if it s needed, prepare dinner for the family and expected to take care the children. Back in 1995, the wife encourages to wash the children s face, comb their hair and change their clothes. Importantly, she had to reduce all the noise of washer or vacuum and encourage the children to be quiet at the time when the husband came home because the husband had spent long enough hours at his work. When he got home, it s his time to relax and enjoy his time freely without interfering his moment. But in the 2010 guideline, the expectation for the wife is to encourage the kids to be excited and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Negative Effects Of Corporal Punishment On Children Among the various forms of children punishments, corporal punishment has been revealed to be an ineffective form of correction due to the negative consequences associated with it. Corporal punishment involves subjecting children to physical pain as a corrective measure to prevent them from engaging in inappropriate behaviors. This is a type of power assertive method of discipline where children are subjected to punishments without explanation or justification. They grow up in fear of the consequences of corporal punishment rather than understanding the right from the wrong. The consequences associated with physical punishment include both physical and emotional abuse that has adverse effects on the growth and development of children. As a result of corporal punishments, children are often left with disabilities or bad medical conditions in case of injuries during punishment. The children are also abused emotionally through the vulgar language that is often used by the parents during the administration of the punishments. This physical and emotional abuses that children are subjected to makes them lead a disturbed life in future. The recommended approach of discipline is therefore the inductive method where the children are guided with explanation and justification in case of punishments in order to understand rather than fear the reason behind the punishment. Physical punishment is determined to have adverse effects that impact negatively on the self esteem of a child. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Normative, Informational and Persuasive Social Influences 1. Compare and contrast normative and informational social influence. Informational Influence and Normative Influence are both categorized under conformity in sociology. Informational is basically when we conform to others behavior because we believe it provides information about reality. It is often when we care about getting the right answer and trying to be rational. It also deals with the Maybe they know something I don t know phenomenon. An example, could be choosing to eat at a busier restaurant opposed to the empty one, or imitating the locals when outside your country. In contrast, Normative Influence is when we conform to others behavior because they expect us to. This is when we believe conforming may have positive consequences, such as approval or the enhancement of our reputation, or when we believe not conforming may have negative consequences, such as disapproval or punishment. An example of Normative Influence is laughing at a joke you don t get, or agreeing with an opinion you believe in others. Informational Social Influence this theory consists of the need to analyze different the information and different points of view. When a person is found in an unknown environment, without sufficient information about it. That person will look at other people s behavior to know what the social norm is and will then behave in a similar way. People need information about their environment to feel comfortable. An example of this would be, if you were waiting at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
