The Securitization Market and the Credit Crisis
Securitization
Traditionally banks funded their loans from deposits. But the us government found that they could
not keep pace with the demand for residential mortgages with this type of funding. Portfolios of
mortgages were created and cash flows (principal amount and interest payments) were packaged as
securities and sold to investors. Securitization allowed the banks to increase their lending faster
than their deposits were growing. The US government created Government National Mortgage
Association which protected the mortgage backed securities investors against defaults by
borrowers. As the securitization market developed investors became comfortable with the situations
where there was no guarantee against defaults by borrowers.
Asset backed securities (ABS)
It is a portfolio of income producing assets such as loans, lease or receivables and the cash flows
from these assets are then allocated to the tranches which is further divided i.e. the senior tranche,
the mezzanine tranche and the equity tranche. The senior tranche is for those investors who want
to play safe because they have first priority on the collateral in the event of default and that is why
they are highly rated, the mezzanine tranche contains moderate risk and the equity tranche is very
risky.
Collateralized Debt Obligations (CDO)
It is so called because the pooled assets like mortgages, loans and bonds are essentially debt
obligations that serve as collateral in the event of default.

Analysis of the Success of Cultural Change Within British...
1.1INTRODUCTION
British Airways came into existence in 1935, when smaller privately owned UK airlines merged.
Another change occurred when the Government nationalised British Airways and Imperial Airways
to form BOAC The British Overseas Airways Corporation.
During this period, external markets were more stable and predictable and there was no real need
for BA to adopt competitive strategies, being that there was little competition from rivals. There
appears to be little in the way of strategy formulation and strategy implementation. This was mainly
due to the established strategy and organisation environment remaining largely unchanged. Any
change in BA s strategy would have developed in an incremental fashion, an almost natural ... Show

1.3 CORPORATE CULTUREDEFINED
Management researchers seem to agree that the things that companies do called corporate culture is
an intangible concept and hence difficult to define. Among the attempts to define corporate culture
, the following definition is useful as a starting point: culture represents an interdependent set of
values and ways of behaving that are common in a community and that tend to perpetuate
themselves, sometimes over long periods of time (Kotter and Heskett,1992,141) Peters and
Watermann argue that changing a culture cannot be accomplished.
1.4 CHANGES WITH BA DUE TO EXTERNAL PRESSURES
The story of British Airways is one of the most widely used inspirational accounts of changing
culture (Heller 1992). BA faced two external pressures. The Thatcher government was threatening to
privatise it and also the deregulation of the industry worldwide. Within Lundberg s model of the
organisational learning cycle, he suggests that in order for cultural change to occur the requisite
external and internal circumstances must occur. He describes the two external enabling conditions.
These are known as domain forgiveness the degree of threat due to instability of the environment

Chemical Weapons And Nuclear Weapons
Chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons have changed the way that people look at wars forever.
Since their implementation into the battlefield, it has been realized that these taboo weapons are
ones to be feared. Responsible for an extravagant amount of deaths over the past eighty years,
chemical, biological, and nuclear threats are not to take lightly. A nuclear weaponis an explosive
device designed to derive its destructive explosion via nuclear fission, nuclear fusion, or a
combination of the two processes . The implementation of nuclear weapons was a
Figure 1) serious game changer, and gave the upper hand to the more technologically advanced
countries because of the scientific efforts that go into developing these weapons, making the
possession of nuclear weapons a more apt problem for nations themselves, rather than non state
actors, such as terrorist groups. As shown in Figure 1, there has been a general steady decrease
of the amount of nuclear weapons held by the United States. This is where chemical and
biological weapons differ from nuclear weapons. Over the past years, chemical and biological
weapons have seen more action, and this can be attested to the significant difference in developing
these weapons. Because chemical and biological weapons are so easily acquired, it is more likely
to see them being used by terrorist groups rather than nations themselves. Because of the potential
threats and easy obtainment of biological weapons, they are potentially the

Holden Caulfield Character Analysis
Many authors express themselves through their characters within their books. They create a
writing piece through their eyes of the world. They often reflect their own personal experiences
through a character. This makes the text more interesting to read, and easier to understand. A
reader can make connections to the story, if there are real world experiences within a character.
J.D Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, serves as an example for this. Holden Caulfield, the main
character, is very opinionated and rebellious. Holden has a rough childhood, and experiences
many ups and downs. He has a hard time staying at one school, and staying out of trouble. J.D.
Salinger has many similarities in his life to Holden. Salinger uses many of his personal life
experiences to form Holden s character and personality. To begin with, The Catcher in the Rye
begins with Holden at a football game against Saxon Hall. Holden is getting kicked out of Pency
Prep, and leaving fencing equipment on the subway did not help. The dean had warned him
once before, but Holden did not care. He was flunking all of his classes except one, and failed to
bring them up. Holden does not like his roommate, Stradlater. Stradlater is a tall, handsome, fit,
and perfect on the outside guy but not so perfect in secret. Holden thinks Stradlater is a secret
slob, and a phony. Stradlater shaves his face with dirty razors and passes gas. This is why Holden
calls him a secret slob. Next, Stradlater takes out

America s Accountability to its Constitution and the...
Our constitution is built upon the ideas of freedom and decency. After all, it was written after
hundreds of years worth of tyranny both at home in England (at the time), and abroad. People
were standing against oppression leveled against them from thousands of miles away (for
example, the Boston Tea Party), and they were called traitors to the Crown. Today, if someone
speaks out against the US and its oppression, or chooses to fight back, we call him an insurgent or
a terrorist. It s quite a twist. Our country was built upon the values laid out in the constitution, and
any individual working in the name of the US is absolutely bound by these truths. There is nothing
which permits a violation of this; no reason can be which excuses such... Show more content on

Trying to argue against that point would be somewhere on the order of arguing against gravity.
The pictures speak for themselves (Unauthored). And also consider this: the woman who took the
infamous Abu Ghraib photographs was ...convicted by a court martial, in May of 2005, of
conspiracy to maltreat prisoners, dereliction of duty, and maltreatment, and sentenced to six
months in prison, a reduction in rank, and a bad conduct discharge (Gourevitch). So the debate of
whether or not Abu Ghraib was torture seems moot. From there, it would seem absurd to argue in
support of it anywhere, in any country, for any reason. It is undeniable that what went on at Abu
Ghraib was never a series of isolated incidents, which were unbeknownst to the military leadership.
It is Taguba s opinion that this would not be possible (Hersh). Any person in the military is taught
from day one to follow orders. The woman in charge of the prison at the time was Janis Karpinski,
an Army reserve brigadier general, although she was not stationed there very long. It was the report
written by Taguba which exposed the ...sadistic, blatant, and wanton criminal abuses, which
occurred there (Hersh). It would seem quite unreasonable that one could think that an Army General
would embark upon a random course of such insane violence, on such a wide scale. And if you look
at the fact that similar activities occurred in Guantanamo Bay and Afghanistan, it would certainly

Torchy s Tacos
For the last few months, there has been a hype over a local taco joint called Torchy s Tacos
located on West McDermott in Allen. From people giving it such a positive review, I decided to
give it a try. As someone who is a lover of tacos, including breakfast tacos, I knew I would be a
tough critic over Torchy s. After I went to Torchy s twice, I decided to give it two thumbs up.
I love Mexican food, and as a native of Texas I ve had plenty of it in my sixteen years of life. Just
as a disclaimer, if you are not a fanatic of spicy foods, I would not suggest Torchy s to you. From
my first trip, I tried the queso first which contains green chile, quacamole, and diablo hot sauce,
but as a lover of fiery foods, I fairly enjoyed this. Their chips are made homemade style and the
only negative thing I would say is their chips are made too thin for their queso. The queso weighs
too heavily on the chip breaking them in half 9 out of 10 times you go in for a delicious bite. The
chips themselves are excellent, but I would suggest making them a bit thicker in order to enjoy ...

From a ride range of tacos from The Democrat to the Dirty Sanchez , I was stumped on which to
order. I decided on the Trailer Park which contains a large piece of fried chicken, lettuce, green
chiles, pico de gallo on a flour tortilla with pablano sauce. You have the option to make it trashy
meaning you take the lettuce off and add queso, which of course I did because for this
experience I was going to go all out. Once I poured the jalapeno ranch on top of my taco, the
flour tortilla is too small to full wrap up it s contents. As soon as I picked up my taco, the queso,
pico de gallo, ranch sauce, and green chiles fell out of the bottom. Alas, I would not let this go to
waste so I scooped all of it up and tried again, but using a fork instead. I was sort of bummed

Purpose: This exploratory study is an attempt to understand whether consumers use different
yardsticks to evaluate product trial experience and post purchase consumption experience.

motion picture industry. The pre release and post release reception of two Indian feature films,
Queen and Gulaab Gang, was studied. To gain insights and answer to the research question, the
researchers used consumer satisfaction theory to examine online comments and reviews generated

Marketers across industry verticals are increasingly encouraging consumers to experience their
products before they make a purchase decision. To cite examples, consumer goods companies
distribute free product samples, apparel brands offer a fitting room, automobile manufacturers offer
test drives, motion picture industry releases theatrical trailers, cosmetic brands offer makeovers,
software firms offer limited period trials and so on. While the marketing literature confirms product
trial efficacy over advertising (Marks and Kamins 1988; Smith 1993; Wright and Lynch 1995), the
extant literature does not have an answer to questions that marketing practitioners may have Why
consumers tend to dislike products after an initial positive response during product trial? Why
consumers tend to start developing an affinity for products over extended use despite having not
liked them during the initial trial? This exploratory study is an attempt to understand whether
consumers use different yardsticks to evaluate product trial experience and post purchase
consumption experience. More specifically, the study reviews product trial and post purchase
evaluation and presents a discussion in the context of consumer satisfaction literature. The study
also reviews conceptual definitions of electronic word of mouth (eWOM) and presents a discussion
around the extant literature in the motion picture industry.

Thrips
Thrips are members of the order Thysanoptera and have a slender body morphology with fringed
wings. Similar to whiteflies, there are about 5,000 species of thrips, but 10 are known to vector
plant viruses (Hull, 2002c). Like aphids, their polyphagous nature and ability to reproduce quickly
and parthenogenically are contributing factors to their effectiveness as virusvectors. Thrips tabaci ,
for example is capable of feeding on 140 different plants species and produce several generations
within a year (Hull, 2002c). Thrips are known for vectoring tospoviruses which have a persistent
propagative relationship, where the only the first instar larvae can acquire the virus, the larval
instars are wingless and not very active, so these are not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Salivation in piercing sucking insects is considered important in the dispersal of plant viruses
(Bragard et al., 2013). Alternatively, chewing beetles regurgitate during feeding which then covers
their mouthparts with plant sap, but counter intuitively does not allow for a purely mechanical
transmission of viruses. There is still specificity due to RNase activity and retention involved with
beetle transmission. While it may seem that there are not many known beetle vectors of plant
viruses, due to the size and diversity of the Coleoptera order, it is believe there are many that
remain to be discovered (Hull, 2002c).
Plant viruses can have many negative impacts on agricultural crops that often is difficult to quantify
into an estimated economic loss due to the inconspicuous nature of viruses. Damage imposed by
viruses can include a reduction in plant growth directly reducing yield or a reduction in vigor
which can leave a plant more susceptible to other environmental or pest related damage (Hull,
2002b). In addition, viral symptoms can reduce the quality and marketability of the crop which can
either be in its appearance, composition, ability to keep, or be used as propagation material. Other
mentionable impacts are the costs associated with maintaining crop health due to viruses such as
vector control, cultural hygiene, producing and purchasing virus free material, quarantine
programs, breeding programs, and funding research programs (Hull, 2002b).

On Guerrilla Warfare Sparknotes
In 1937, Mao Tse Tung wrote the book, On Guerrilla Warfare, as a rational appeal for survival.
Mao wrote the piece with the Chinese military in mind as his audience. During this time, the
Chinese military was preparing for the Second Sino Japanese War. Mao accessed the challenges
facing China in a possible warwas their military logistics and strategy. The dynamics and logistics
of the Chinese military versus the Japanese army were incomparable. Mao recognized the Chinese
army as smaller in size and weaker in defense. Mao concluded Chinais incapable of defeating the
Japanese army using conventional military tactics. The Book, On Guerrilla Warfare, is a written
proposal of Mao s solution to the impending Japanese conflict. China s only... Show more content

By explaining the history of guerrilla warfare, he rationalized the strategy is not unique to the
Chinese military. The tactics of guerrilla warfare ensure the survival of the oppressed people. He
referenced previous leaders that used guerrilla strategies. Guerrilla strategy is the only strategy
possible for the oppressed people (55). Mao identified Japan as an oppressive regime, and the
people of China will be oppressed by Japan after the war. Mao s appeal to the rational usage of
guerrilla tactics was an effort to remove the negative connotations. As an effort to dismiss the
negative bias, Mao examines the historical battles that used guerrilla tactics. He exampled the war
efforts of Napoleon and Russian Soviets. Mao explained Russia as weak and ill prepared against
the great army of Napoleon. Mao presented the example to intimate China is much like the Russian
Soviets. Mao defined guerrilla warfare as, a powerful special weapon with which we resist the
Japanese and without which we cannot defeat them (50). Thus, the guerrilla strategy will ensure the

Contrasting Themes In David Lynch s Film Blue Velvet
Contrasting Themes in Blue Velvet
The subconscious psyche is one of the most fascinating and almost completely inexplicable aspects
of human behavior. Even more intriguing than merely the subconscious is the notion of a darker,
more repressed side that many individuals refuse to acknowledge exists within them. In David
Lynch s film Blue Velvet, the director attempts to explore the psyche of a young man named
Jeffrey Beaumont, most notably the clash between his darker side and good side for the first time
in his life. Using themes that sharply contrast one another, Lynch provides insight into the
character of Jeffrey and the struggle that he is faced with. Jeffrey is in a transitional period of his
life, not very old, and is on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The gun on the television is in direct contrast to what has been taking place visually up to this
point. The mise en scene has been depicting an idealized American town, and yet the image of a
gun is used as an allusion to something more sinister lurking within the town, with the interior of
Jeffrey s house perhaps representing the inner sanctum of Jeffrey s subconscious. From here, Lynch
cuts back to the long shot of Jeffrey s father watering the lawn, followed by a close up of the faucet
where the hose is connected. Suddenly, the cuts are very rapid and the camera cuts between
close ups of the hose, the faucet, and Jeffrey s father, who eventually keels over in an apparent
stroke. This is followed by a long shot of a dog attempting to bite the water spraying out of the
hose, with a cut to a close up of the dog doing this behavior in slow motion. Slowly, the non
digetic sound of Blue Velvet fades out, giving way to an unintelligible and faint sound which
appears to be non digetic as well. However, the camera zooms into an extreme close up of the grass
and tracks through the grass as well, with the unintelligible noise increasing in volume. The shot
then dissolves to reveal an entire population of cockroaches infesting the soil, and what had
previously been non digetic sound has now become the loud, digetic sound of the insects
movement. Immediately, there is a cut to an establishing

ESTIMATION OF SALIVARY NITRIC OXIDE LEVELS IN CHILDREN WITH CONGENITAL
HEART DISEASES
INTRODUCTION
Heart disease is one of the most common developmental abnormalities among children, affecting
approximately 6 per 1,000 live births , .Dental management of children with congenital heart disease
requires special attention, because of their increased susceptibility to infectious endocarditis,
associated with bacteraemia induced by invasive dental procedures. Oral health in these patients is
not given due importance and thus they often have poor oral health. These patients also have
increased caries risk which may be largely attributed to the developmental enamel defects. , ,
There has been a mounting interest in the role of nitrates and nitrites in protection against oral
diseases particularly dental caries in the last few years. , There is a constant supply of concentrated
nitrates, the metabolic products of nitric oxide (NO) in the human oral cavity. It is generated either
directly from the physiological reduction of dietary nitrates or it originates from L arginine
undergoing the reaction catalyzed by inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) which is an enzyme
expressed in salivary glands and duct epithelial cells when induced by pro inflammatory stimuli. , , ,
Nitric oxide and its metabolic products, nitrates and nitrites, have been associated with various
deleterious effects in humans in the past decades. However, the recent evidence has suggested that

Kant Evil
Everyone wants a good will, representing a true heart and good impressions towards people. A
good will has a lot of definition like talents, courage, respects...etc. On the other hand, it can be
very negative like disrespectful, harming or hurting people. As Kant said Understanding, wit, the
power of judgment, and like talents of the mind, whatever they might be called, or courage,
resoluteness, persistence in an intention, as qualities of temperament, are without doubt in some
respects good and to be wished for; but they can also become extremely evil and harmful, if the
will that is to make use of these gifts of nature, and whose peculiar constitution is therefore called
character, is not good. (Kant, Ak 4:393) For example, a girl is born... Show more content on

I think it is all right to have a purpose behind the duty, but it should be depends on the whether the
purpose is negative or positive. If the purpose is positive, I think it can be considered as duty.
For example, a person donates his organs to a patient, his purpose is to help the patient instead
of his own happiness, or there is a situation that the patient is important to the donor. Both of the
situations are out of good will, a good purpose, so it should be considered as a good, moral duty.
To conclude, I believed a good will is built naturally, inborn but there are factors from the
growing environment like family background, peer pressure that affects the good will. These may
makes people become evil. On the other hand, I believed no matter there is no purpose or positive
purpose behind can be considered as duty. The Kant s idea of duty is no purpose behind because he
thinks duty should not benefit to ourselves but others. Sometimes positive purposes also benefit to
others instead of benefit to

Sigmund Freud Assessment Of Civilization Summary
Sigmund Freud s Assessment of Civilization In Civilization and Discontents, Sigmund Freud
analyzes the relationship between individuals and civilization and how it relates to his theory of
instincts and the individual psyche. The viewpoint of civilization and the individuals residing in it
changed after the First World War when death became anonymous with the use of new war tactics
and weapons such as trench warfare, machine guns, and tanks. Many were left unsettled at the
savagery that the modern man was capable of. The idea of civilization and the actions individuals
made became more complex and Freud s theory of instincts began to become pertinent to the times.
Freud believed that the human psyche is composed of three distinct parts; id, ego, and superego. Id
is the set of unconscious desires that are deep within an individual, called the subconscious
(Offman Lecture 6). This first part of the human psyche is primitive and is made up of all
inherited components of personality that can be found at birth. Freud believed that the id could
not be controlled beyond certain limits and that it was part of your instinct that is found within
all individuals living in any type of civilization (Freud 101). The id of each individual is
described by Freud as never before been touched by the external world, therefore it will not
change over time or with an individual s life experiences. The id believes that every sensation of
pain of or unpleasure should be removed and

Caffeine Argument Analysis
In the world of health one well known controversy is whether or not caffeine is good for you or
if it has any nutritional value. On the pro side of the argument, many doctors have performed new
studies showing that caffeine has a lot of positive effects on our health such as reducing the risk
of skin cancer which was confirmed in an experiment done by Erikka Loftfield MPH. Based on my
research I ve found that studies also show that caffeinehas been shown to enhance both physical
and cognitive performance in younger adults , as stated by M. J. Duncan in a study done in
2014. Sheena Derry s studies from the University of Oxford show us that caffeine is a great
remedy for pain relief and migraines. Registered dietician Keri Glassman stated in an interview
that caffeine can help prevent well known diseases such as diabetes and Parkinson s. And lastly, in
an article written by Sara Altshul claims have been made that based on a study done in July 2015,
caffeine can help improve your memory. On the con side of the argument many doctors and

The Banking Industry and Customer Research
The Banking industry and Customer Research
Discussion
Given the competitive atmosphere in banking and the need to interest and retain clients, banks rely
strongly on client s satisfaction and customer loyalty. This is particularly so given today s slowing
industry growth and tremendous pressure to maintain and hold onto one s business. Traditional
banks also today face competition from online banks that can afford to offer customers attractive
deposit products at low rates and that provide attractive interest rates. Aside from that, traditional
banks face competition, too, from non banks, such as a Wal Mart, that open banks within their
stores. For all these reasons and more, the reputation and success of traditional banks directly hinges
on the extent to which they manage to retain their client s services and please him to the extent that
he will refer others to the bank. The better then that the bank knows their individual clients and
factors that they seek from the bank, the better then will the bank succeed in pleasing these clients
and attracting others. Customer research, ipso facto, is a significant part of marketing in terms of
enabling the bank to maintain and enhance its portfolio. Customer research is all the more effective
when it characterizes an open door policy with the bank and when it uses inbound marketing to
reach customers outside the bank. In fact, given that banks have a tough time to differentiate
themselves from one another, they rely heavily on

Badm 350 Essay
Assignment #3: iPremier
BADM 350 1. How well did the iPremier Company perform during the seventy five minute attack?
If you were Bob Turley, what might you have done differently during the attack?
Normally, a company would follow emergency procedures while dealing with crises, but in
iPremier s case, there was no emergency procedure available. Under these circumstances, and with
no prior experience with security breaches, I believe the company performed well. Bob Turley
communicated well with the other members of the company, but if I were in his shoes, I would
have been more conservative and acted faster.
In responding to the crisis, there were two main issues that iPremier faced understanding the attack,
and restoring order. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
iPremier s procedures were absolutely deficient. They had an outdated emergency manual that
employees couldn t find, and almost couldn t access the data center. Additional measures they
could have implemented long before the attack include revising the emergency procedure and
making sure all employees know how to follow it. 3. Now the attack has ended, what can the
iPremier Company do to prepare for another such attack?
While I mentioned revising the emergency procedure in the previous question, there are other ways
to prepare as well. iPremier could implement a method to escalate unsatisfactory service from Qdata
to higher level management; if they switch to a data center with open lines of communication, the
next crisis would be easier to handle, or it might even be completely averted. 4. In the aftermath of
the attack, what would you be worried about? What actions would you recommend?
I would be worried about three issues, including the identity and motivation of the hacker, the
amount of data that was taken from iPremier, and public disclosure. Since Bob didn t pull the
plug, there is a log documenting what happened during the attack I would start by analyzing the
log and trying to solve the first two issues. Public disclosure is a legal matter, yet it affect thee
public image of iPremier, so I would consult with both Warren and Stewart to see both PR and legal
s perspective on the attack, and formulate a public statement

Plastics And The Plastic Age
The current period in human history is referred to as the plastic age (CГіzar et al 2014). Plastic is
synthetic polymers derived from petroleum (Vikas Dwarakish 2015), it is lightweight, inexpensive
to produce and hailed as an industrial achievement (Detloff Istel 2016). Moreover, plastic does not
decompose, the durable material simply breaks into smaller particles, pervading the water and
marine life (Detloff Istel 2016). Our current society has established a constant consume and discard
rhythm, fuelling the plasticeconomy . Marine plastic pollution mainly occurs from land based
plastic debris, comprised of: littering, incessant plastic bag use and inappropriate disposal
(Derriak 2002). Microplastics are pieces of plastic less than five millimetres in size (Detloff Istel
2016). These particles account for 92% of the plastics in the ocean (Shim Thomposon 2015).
Microplastics have become ubiquitous in the ocean, found as far as the Arctic and Antarctic seas
(Obbard et al 2014 as cited in Shim Thomposon 2015; Law Thompson 2014 as cited in Shim
Thomposon 2015). Plastic pollution is also significantly damaging the fragile marine ecosystem, as
well as massacring innocent marine creatures (Deltoff Istell 2016; Avio, Gorbi Regoli 2017).
Overall, preventing ocean plastic pollution is difficult, due to the large volume of production and
contamination, particularly microplastics, coupled with inadequate disposal practices of plastic.
In 2014, 311 million tonnes of plastic were produced (Detloff Istel 2016), and half was disposed
of within the year (Singh Sharma 2016). The most commonly used and plentiful polymers are:
high density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene,
polypropylene and polyethylene terephthalate (Andray Neal 2009 as cited in Li, Tse and Fok
2016). These polymers account for 90% of total plastic production, and as a result are the most
common plastics found in aquatic environments (Andray 2011 and Engel 2012 as cited in Li, Tse
and Fok 2016). Plastic debris often migrates to form five subtropical gyres, large garbage patches
colloquially dubbed marine soup (Eriksen et al 2013; Weinstein 2009). It is estimated five to

The book was okay, not bad but not amazing either. I can imagine that there are better books for
children that can better showcase aspects of Mexican culture. At one point in the book, the zГіcalo

does not explain what the zГіcalo is, I found this out through looking up the word. Based on the

Discrimination Against Hispanics
Discrimination against Hispanics
I chose this topic because it s very interesting. I think that we all know that discriminating
someone by their religion, color or nationality is illegal. According to the Civil Rights Act of
1964, its illegal to against a person based on his/her color, religion, sex, disability, and national
origin. But this doesn t mean its all over and the problem is solved, it may reduce the discrimination
but not enough to eliminate it. Discrimination in the work, purposely or accidentally, not just harms
the workers work knowledge, but it exposes the company to a lawsuit for violating the laws that
defend races and groups. Discrimination against the smaller groups, based on color, race, ethnicity

IV. Question 2 Compare and contrast Milton s Raphael with Pope s Ariel in as many respects as
you can. John Milton and Alexander Pope both write of supporting characters that are sent to
protect the main character in their stories. Both Ariel and Raphael have many similar qualities
that make them a character that is used to bring warning to the protagonist and to foreshadow to
readers what the outcome of the story will be. Ariel is a sylph, or a magical being that was a
coquette in his life before. Although this is distinctly different than Raphael s identity as one of
God s angels, they share several qualities. Both are described as being very friendly and gentle.
Ariel warns Belinda through a dream in attempt to protect her from the stealing of a lock of her
hair. Raphael is sent to Eden to become friends with Adam and to warn him of the sin that is
lying in wait for them. Both of these guardians are seeking protection for the human and desire
for them to be kept from evil. They also try to relate to the humans. Ariel understands Belinda s
vanity and pride in her appearance because he once was a coquette as well. He even assists in
her thorough morning routine. Raphael is also able to relate to Adam through the discussion of
love. Adam asks him about angel s love lives and Raphael is able to understand Adam s struggle
to not idolize his love for Eve. Angels seem to have many qualities that are similar to Adam and
Eve s, which makes it very easy for Raphael to

My mother and I had finally gotten home from getting the MRI of my pelvis. I went downstairs in

Squid Vs Octopi
Squid and Octopi are two mysterious creatures of the sea which many people lack knowledge of.
They both have many amusing similarities and differences when it comes to their homes, diets, and
physical aspects. These two sea creatures relate in many ways, however there are countless unique
characteristics between them.
Being some of the most brilliant animals of the sea, Octopi are invertebrates which means that
they do not have a single bone in their bodies. They are usually hidden away in caves or dens
near the sea floor and spend most of their lifetimes alone. During pregnancy, many mothers
become very weak due to a lack of food and nutrition, and pass away not being able to be present
throughout their children s lifetimes. Octopi are also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along with octopi, squid are also cephalopods and contain three hearts. Unlike octopi, squid have
two fins on their head and have a stiff structure called a pen that acts like a flexible spine. These
fins are used for the squid to slowly move about throughout the ocean. Rather than being alone and
independent like the octopus, squid are found in schools and tend to stay together throughout their
short lifetimes. Squid eat a combination of different species of fish and shrimp and may even go
to the point of eating other squid if food is scarce. Both animals are located in salty, warm waters
near the temperate zones where there is an abundance of food. One main difference between them
is how they catch their prey. Octopi bring in their prey by piercing them and injecting it with a
venom through their suckers that paralyzes the victim. Squid use their two longest tentacles to
catch fish and shrimp and shred it with their sharp tongue while the prey is still alive. Another
similarity between them is that they both have a mantle. The mantle helps protect the organism by
creating a shell around the internal organs. Size weighs in a great deal with both of the animals.
Octopi can range anywhere from one centimeter to five meters and can weigh up to one hundred
and fifty pounds. Squid can be from a few inches to sixty feet long and weigh over a

The Medieval Church And The Development Of Medieval...
Medieval Theatre was a source of education and reflection for the residents of the Middle Ages.
Serving as an inspiration for Renaissance plays, it took centuries of evolution for Medieval to
accommodate themes outside of the Bible. Theatre in the Middle Ages was an enemy of the
Catholic Church, who tried to terminate these performances. Unusually, the Catholic Church played
a significant role in the development of Medieval Theatre. Although plays were limited to the
themes of the Bible for a long period of time, bizarre masks, costumes and great structuring of
stages were used.
Following the collapse of the Roman Empire, a small group of performers travelled to various
destinations to entertain audiences about all aspects of life. They toured countries and many
regions to tell stories, play music and even perform acrobatic arts. Wherever they went, festivals
emerged. This caused commotion between Religious practitioners, who tried to convert the
performers and end their performances which were deemed sinful. The Catholic Church, which
was highly responsible for the growth of Medieval Theatre, offered a service. This service provided
the dramatization of Biblical stories which were held on church premises. It was not until the 13th
century that religious performances were beginning to be held outside of the church. Medieval
Theatre experienced a fundamental change in its 800 year rule, ending its reign in the 16th century.

The Body Shop
Based on our projections for the years 2002 2004, the biggest driver that effects debt is the
company s operating expenses. Based on the history of the upward trend of operating expenses,
our recommendation is that The Body Shop needs to concentrate on lowering the operating

Our 45% recommendation includes a safety net which will prevent having The Body Shop

company s CEO Chuck Hansen. Jack Carlisle as a straight shooter must assess the changes, both

The leadership within IZL Corporation has become complacent and not ready to tackle challenges
inherent in managing large public companies as well as dealing with developed financial
institutions and regulators. This is evident when Jack Carlisle asked the question How do you
know how things are going? and the response was If I don t get a call, everything must be fine.
(Austin, 2007). The company lacked a reporting mechanism that will otherwise provide important
information about the affairs and health of the business and IT infrastructure.
Business process remained manual as reporting was done in spreadsheet rather than utilizing
application designed and developed to produce efficiency and alignment with business strategy.
There seem to be no care for data protection as there were no policies, procedures and regulatory
system to guide workflow and ensure compliance. The handling of physical infrastructure did not
matter to either executive managers of the IT staffs especially when you come to think of the
investment and cost associated with maintaining an IT shop.
Supporting Argument
It is evident that IZL Corporation lost its competitive advantage due to unclear business strategy
and as a result its market share dwindled and CEO Chuck Hansen ousted. For IZL Corporation to

Theme Of Ode On A Grecian Urn By John Keats
Life s mysteries are best stated in writing. Some mysteries are revealed, while others remain
unknown forever. John Keats, one of England s greatest poets, published several poems, including
one of his most famous ones in 1819, Ode on A Grecian Urn (Keats 247). Keats was a renowned
poet during the British Romantic period. Romantic literature focused on beauty and emotions. So,
what is the significance of the scenes depicted on the mysterious urn? Is the urn simply a
masterpiece of art with emphasis only on physical beauty? In the poem, Ode on A Grecian Urn,
John Keatscreates mysterious scenes on a Greek urn to contrast between everlasting art and human
life. Keats contrasts both worlds through the urn s elaborate description, the theme of personal
relationships, and the ultimate message of beauty, with significant relevance to modern times.
The poems ambiguities begin with the speaker describing the urn. However, these ambiguities
are not just intended by Keats to remain enigmatic, they are there to be connected like a puzzle,
piece by piece. As the speaker, who is a mystery himself, describes the urn, it is evident that he is
bewildered with a spark of curiosity, attempting to grasp the meaning of the scenes (Mishra 51).
The speaker first states what he sees from a distance. He describes the distinct advantages of the
urn as an object, Thou still unravished bride of quietness...foster child of silence and slow time
(Keats 247). He defines the world of art as

Cide In The Rocide Genocide
genocide the deliberate killing to eliminate of a group of people of the same race, religion or
ethnicity. This word is derived from a combination of a Greek word genos ( race or tribe ) and a
Latin word cide ( killing ). In 1994, in the beginning of April, the same has happened in Rwanda. A
genocide.
Before the colonial period in Rwanda, there were three classifications of people. Hutus, who made
up the majority of the population 84%, Tutsi who were only 17% and Twa who only made up 1%.
Hutus were from less privileged families and were cultivators, Tutsis were cattle herders and
from rich families, and Twa were potters and were outshined by the other groups (Stapleton 28).
However, these classifications were based on the number of cattle people owned. People who
owned 10 cows or more were considered Tutsi and people with less than 10 cows were considered
Hutu. People could shift from being a Hutu to a Tutsi or vice versa depending on the number of
cattle they had. Before colonization Tutsis and Hutus lived peacefully (Warren 19).
During the colonial period tensions from all corners, politically, educationally and socially were
created such that hatred and violence was harbored in Hutus and they decided to eliminate fellow
Rwandese, Tutsis. The existence of ethnicities itself did not lead to the Tutsi Genocide since they
existed even before the colonial era.

Examples Of Naturalism In Ethan Frome
Naturalism is a complex literary movement which infiltrated many books in the 1800s. One book in
particular best shows the themes of Naturalism. The book, Ethan Frome, displays a multitude of
motifs which further the main ideas and themes of the story. Motifs are used to highlight the theme.
Due to the complex natureof the book, Ethan Frome written by Edith Wharton, motifs are used to
further the ideas and themes presented in this tale.
The first motif of the story is Gravestones. Gravestones symbolize the literal and metaphorical
silence in the story. Gravestones represent the literal silence as for years that quiet company had
mocked his restlessness, and that his desire for change and freedom...But now all desire for change

Red means many ideas. For example that to Ethan, still in the rosy haze of his hour with Mattie,
the sight came with the intense precision of the last dream before waking (Wharton 22). Red
seems to represent the romantic feelings Ethan has for Mattie. Red symbolizes the interest he has
in her. Red also is meant to represent lust as that she wore her usual dress of darkish stuff, and
there was no bow at her neck; but through her hair she had run a streak of crimson ribbon. This
trubute to the unusual transformed and glorified her. She seemed to Ethan taller, fuller, more
womanly in shape and motion ( Wharton 82). Ethan s feelings are that of a person in love. This
motif furthers the theme of lack of control, as Ethan has no control over the fact that he has these
emotions. He is helpless to the power of his emotions over him .
Lastly, for the third motif: Silence. Silence is this presiding force which causes significant tension
and pain in this story. Ethan feels relief after the mortal silence of his long imprisonment changed
to having Zeena s volubility was music to his ears . (Wharton 29). The silence is what caused
Ethan to think marrying a woman he does not love would be a good idea. Obviously, this was a
horrible decision he made due to the overarching nature of this

Analysis Of Richard II By The Bbc As A Part Of Their...
One of the greatest components of textual work is its ability to be translated into different
mediums of art. Throughout history, inspiration has been drawn from written works as a means
to convey a new perspective on an old story: paintings depicting biblical scenes, stage plays,
ballads, films and even youtube videos. In today s society, it has become commonplace for written
work to be converted into a visual medium, most notably films. Cinema provides distinct options to
explore stories in a way that other mediums are incapable of doing. For instance, William
Shakespeares plays have often been texts that are predominantly performed on the stage, but when
adapted into screen versions, new devices for storytelling become available. The... Show more

An audience member of a staged play also views the play through one static line of sight, but they
do have the freedom to focus their attention anywhere on the stage. This means despite stage art
design, the audience s perception of the environment is not fully under the director s control. Yet,
in films the director can use a variety of camera angles and lenses to control the gaze of the
audience. Indeed, this ability is the strongest weapon a film has and in Richard II, it is something
that the director, Rupert Goold, uses to convey the internal conflict of Richard II in a biblical tone.
The first indication of this appears in the opening sequence. Using a panning shot (an uninterrupted
shot that travels from one direction to another e.g., left to right/right to left), the audience s gaze
begins at the ceiling rafters then pans down to a hanging statue of Jesus crucified on the cross and
finishes at the throne where King Richard II is seated directly below. The composition of this shot
offers many analytical possibilities. Firstly, the decision to use a panning shot, instead of a wide
angle shot, which perhaps most reflects the kind of perspective an audience member might

Services are basically intangible. The intangible nature of services also presents a problem for

Ulcerative Proctitis
Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease of the large intestine where the inner
lining of the colon becomes inflamed and develops tiny open sores, or ulcers, that produces pus or
mucous and may cause bleeding. It affects the innermost lining of the large intestine and the
rectum. The rectum is always involved in ulcerative colitis. When inflammationonly occurs in the
rectum, the disease is called ulcerative proctitis. If the inflammation extends into the upper parts of
the colon and the whole colon is involved, it is called universal proctitis or pancolitis (Christian
Novdqvist). Swelling causes the bowel to move its contents quickly and evacuate frequently. It
rarely affects the small intestine.

The most common symptoms include rectal bleeding, rectal pain, abdominal pain, and the urgency
to defecate. Symptoms include variability depending on the extent of the inflammation and its
location. Most people have periods of remission that can last weeks or years (NIDDK).
The diagnosis of this condition is insinuated by the symptoms of rectal bleeding, abdominal
bleeding, and diarrhea. The doctor must rule out other possible causes. Some tests may include a
stool test to check for infection, a blood test to reveal what the white blood cell count is, a
colonoscopy to examine the rectum and inside of the colon, and a barium enema x ray. A medical
and family history also aids in diagnosis.
There is no cure for ulcerative colitis, only medications to reduce symptoms or surgical
intervention. The type of medication depends on the seriousness of the condition. Medications help
induce and maintain remission, improve one s quality of life, and minimize the side effects and the
risk of cancer (NIDDK). Surgery is reserved for those with severe inflammation and life threatening
complications. A procedure called ileoanal anastomosis constructs a pouch from the end of the

Essay On Class Stereotypes
Class Stereotypes How does judging people on their economic class deem their worth? Being
judged by my looks is one thing, or even being judged on my looks due to my financial
difficulties, but being judged by an economic standing I have no control over is just all out
ridiculous. Per several authors, I will be mentioning Banaji Greenwald and Barbara Ehrenreich
Stereotypes can have a big effect on ourselves, our views, and those around us. I believe we
develop our default or initial thoughts and stereotypes about others from our environment and our
culture; what we are exposed too. I hope that as you read this paper you become aware of the
stereotypes that you may be subject to as well as ones you may be making towards others (even

I believe I think this way due to being the exception. I grew up and was not only exposed to but
offered and rejected the lifestyle thousands before and after I have followed without a second
thought. I ve lived with my grandparents from the time I was very small and it was due to my
mom being on the streets. Trying to be closer to my mom, my brother and I went to her
boyfriend s house to see her, only to become second to drugs and drinking. Since I was raised in
such a fashion I was limited on what I had; jewelry, makeup, Ipods, cd players, clothes, going
outside and even friends. Now, I don t know what you remember about being a kid, but they don

things you do have. I am glad it happened to a certain extent, though it taught me a lot about
myself along the way as well as how they view me because of my lack of money. However, it
would have been nice to be warned of such judgement before I entered that materialistic playing

Neurocom Sensory Organization Test Essay examples
The concussion rates among high school, collegiate, and professional athletes is increasing at an
alarming rate. The United States alone reports 1.6 to 3.8 million cases of sport related
concussions per year2 4, 9, 12. The 1.6 to 3.8 million does not account for the large number of
concussions that remain unreported by athletes2 4, 9, 12. According to McCrory et al., a concussion
is defined as a complex pathophysiological process that disturbs the brain, which is prompted by
traumatic biomechanical forces 10. Sports related concussions are one of the most complex
injuries, which makes them difficult to assess. The cerebral functional deficits that occur in one

Components of a concussion assessment should consist of various tests to evaluate for
neurocognitive function, self reported symptoms, and postural control. Each one of the above
elements has been shown to be negatively influenced following a concussion3 4. A concussion may
have an effect on more than one of the elements at the same time; therefore, an assessment must
take into account all three of the above testing parameters. Athletes identified as being concussed
are known to exhibit deficits in neurocognitive functioning related to attention, information
processing, memory, and concentration as a consequence of cerebral concussion. The regions of the
brain affected with a concussion or traumatic brain injury have been shown to be responsible for
the preservation of postural stability. Research findings have led to the development of using
neurocognitve and postural stability measures as a source of objectively evaluating concussions.
Since sport related concussions are becoming more prevalent in athletics, the use of multiple
assessment tools along with extensive research results is essential for athletic trainers and other
health care professionals to consider in order to make accurate decisions in regards to return to
play. (8) Many questions still remain in regards to an athletes return to participation after being
diagnosed with a concussion. Thus, ongoing research is being

Persuasive Essay On Watch For Children
For most parents it is easy to make the common mistake of not providing enough attention to
their kids, especially in large places such as Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Kids are easily
distracted and in matter of seconds they will run off their parent s sight which is where it is
possible for the kids to end up lost. I believe kids as well as parent should take more responsibility
when it comes to familytrips, therefore parents should stress more to their children about the
dangers of populated locations. When I was a kid I had a terrible experience at Disney world.
When I was about eight years old my family took me to Disney World which is where I was lost
and I was scared for over half the day. I had no clue that going to that trip would turn out to be
my worst nightmare. As a result, it is important to be in watch for children and parents should be
extra careful when it comes to keeping an eye out for their kids. For kids, being lost in Disney
World can be frightening, or life threatening therefore, it is vital for parents to always be on watch
for their children.
On the way over to Orlando, Florida where Disney world is located, I could almost count the
minutes to be there. I was impatient to be there already. As a child, me and my close friends
would get together and watch cartoons right after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. From that
point on I developed an enthusiasm for some Disney characters and hoped to one day visit Disney
World and live the full

The Banjo History
The banjo is known for its rich and vast history and has evolved throughout the years to what we
now call the modern banjo. The banjo is a string instrument that can be plucked or strummed and
has a long neck with a circular sound table at the end usually called the head of the banjo. Though
the modern banjo is different than its African predecessor, it still has many similarities holding true
to its African folk origins. There is no doubt that the banjo, known largely as an American
instrument, maintains an place as the core of both African and North American American culture.
The banjo s oldest ancestor dates back thousands of years ago. In fact, Jay Odell, a Grove Music

playing. The guitar style of picking was introduced to England. The first description of guitar
style is in a banjo tutoring book published in 1865 by Frank Converse, who was known to be a
promoter of the style and may have been the first to use it. (Winans and Kaufman, pg. 8) During
the 1860 s the English began to add extra strings to the already popular five string banjo so that
there were now banjos that has seven, eight, or nine strings. The extra strings included bass and
thumb strings that were supposed to be plucked. Though this addition to English banjos was
accepted by most professional banjo players, by the 1890 s professional musicians decided to return

Ramification In Toni Morrison s Beloved
The Personal and Collective Implications and Ramifications of Paul D s Recuperative Journey
toward Self Reclamation in Morrison s Beloved
Toni Morrison s prime supporting character, Paul D, embarks upon a physical, emotional, and
spiritual journey in the novel Beloved that ultimately culminates in personal, familial, and in terms
of the larger historical ex slave community collective ramifications. Via Morrison s cyclical mode
of narration, Paul D progresses geographically from the Kentucky slave plantation ironically
designated Sweet Home , to a Georgian prison in which he serves time toiling on a chain gang, and
finally, to main character Sethe s spiritually besieged home in post Civil War Cincinnati.

When the reader again comes into contact with Paul D, he is psychologically equipped to
resume his journey of recuperation and self reconciliation. Upon returning to Sethe and
discovering that the ghostly Beloved has departed (perhaps for good), Paul is finally able to
reach his the end of his journey of absolution. The ex slave who once dwelled solely in the past
and shunned all aspects of human intimacy, rekindles hope simultaneously both in the broken
Sethe and in himself. When Sethe laments that she has again lost her best thing , Paul D
responds, You your best thing (Morrison Ch. 28). Further exemplifying his newfound sense of
identity and emancipation, Paul D asserts to Sethe: Me and you, we got more yesterday than
anybody. We need some kind of tomorrow (Morrison Ch. 28). While Paul D s 18 year journey
from the unspeakable atrocities of Sweet Home to the new beginning with the woman he has
always loved is momentous in and of itself, it is apparent that Morrison is utilizing Paul D as a
microcosm of the larger, post Civil War black community. Ultimately, Beloved is a book that
champions the notion that confrontation of and reconciliation of one s past is a cathartic and

Summary Of The Judgement Of Thamus By Neil Postman
In The Judgment of Thamus, Neil Postman (1992) discusses that any technology has two sided
effects and can indefinitely bring people some benefits or disadvantages. Technology is also one of
the indispensable elements in society. Postman (1992) supports his argument by analyzing the
myths about technology. Through the metaphor of Thamus, Postman (1992) states that it provides
two criteria for contemporary technologycriticism technology always comes with a hidden cost and
people who create technology might not best judges of its value .

cannot be considered a reliable prophet. Because new technologies may change what we call

cell phones infrastructure, we also found that it is really unpredictable. In the 1940s, the first
mobile phone calls appeared. However, they were made by cars using equipment weighing
about 35 kilograms. And then, the first commercial mobile phones made by Motorola were
introduced to the market in 1983. These mobile phones used first generation (1G) networks.
Next, the development of mobile phones had a rapid growth. In the meantime, the weight of
mobile phones gradually decreased from about 800 grams to less than 160 grams during around
20 years. In addition, in the 1980s, the first network (1G) was introduced to people on a large
scale but its use was only restricted to the country s boundaries. The second generation (2G)
network was digital, not analog and its development began in the late 1980s. Then, the marketing
demand began to shift from 2G to 3G in 2002. Compared with the previous networks, the data and
voice communications capabilities of 3G have increased significantly. In present, 4G is applying

Incident Command System Case Study
Revere is a city in Massachusetts, found in Suffolk County. located approximately 5 miles from
downtown Boston. With a population a little over 53,000. It is important for firefighters to
understand they must be prepared to respond quickly, efficiently and safely to tornadoes. There are
many things to take in consideration when it comes to a city such as Revere with a large population.
The agencies needed to effectively manage a post tornado response are the very same agencies
needed within the Incident Command System (ICS). Each of these agencies will play a crucial role
in tornado damage mitigation and victim assistance.
The Fire Department will be used to rescue trapped victims and execute fire suppression. Since
the fire department is normally better experienced in ICS, it will be crucial in assisting to establish
the command system. Wildland fire apparatus, such as brush trucks and command vehicles, which
are habitually equipped with four wheel drive, will allow personnel fast access to areas

are treatment/transport experts. First responders and basic EMT s from other participating
agencies, like the fire department are capable of patient triage, which frees up the treatment experts
to do what they do best. Also, many private EMS providers do not provide their personnel The

Personality Theories Of Personality Disorders
There are many different theories of personality which scientists have developed in order to help
explain how people think, feel, and behave. The trait theory of personality is one that attempts to
explain personality by identifying patterns of behavior that include relatively stable characteristics
which in turn causes individuals to consistently behave in particular ways (Funder, 2015). While
personality may change due to different situations or states, the trait theory proposes that overall
personality characteristics are relatively constant and result in a person reliably acting a certain
way. These characteristics, or traits, which remain relatively constant throughout one s life are
essential components of one s personality (McLeod,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are key differences in each of the clusters of personality disorders. Cluster A has common
features of social awkwardness and socially withdrawing from people, leaving them to often times
spend time alone. People diagnosed with these disorders often have distorted thinking which in turn
leads them to have a hard time trusting others leading to social detachment and discomfort in
settings that require them to be social. Cluster B has common features relating to issues with
controlling impulses and regulating emotions. People diagnosed with these disorders often act
impulsively putting themselves at risk for harm and have trouble regulating their emotions and
often don t feel and remorse for their actions. Cluster C has common features in relation to
increased levels of anxiety. Anxiety in this category can relate to social anxiety, fear of losing
others, and anxiety related to orderliness and following rules.
Personality disorders differ from other mental disorders such as depression, schizophrenia, and
bipolar disorders because of the defining features. Disorders like major depressive disorder, bipolar
disorder, and schizophrenia are mood disorders relating to how an individual thinks and feels,

  • 2. The Securitization Market and the Credit Crisis Securitization Traditionally banks funded their loans from deposits. But the us government found that they could not keep pace with the demand for residential mortgages with this type of funding. Portfolios of mortgages were created and cash flows (principal amount and interest payments) were packaged as securities and sold to investors. Securitization allowed the banks to increase their lending faster than their deposits were growing. The US government created Government National Mortgage Association which protected the mortgage backed securities investors against defaults by borrowers. As the securitization market developed investors became comfortable with the situations where there was no guarantee against defaults by borrowers. Asset backed securities (ABS) It is a portfolio of income producing assets such as loans, lease or receivables and the cash flows from these assets are then allocated to the tranches which is further divided i.e. the senior tranche, the mezzanine tranche and the equity tranche. The senior tranche is for those investors who want to play safe because they have first priority on the collateral in the event of default and that is why they are highly rated, the mezzanine tranche contains moderate risk and the equity tranche is very risky. Collateralized Debt Obligations (CDO) It is so called because the pooled assets like mortgages, loans and bonds are essentially debt obligations that serve as collateral in the event of default. • 3. Analysis of the Success of Cultural Change Within British... 1.1INTRODUCTION British Airways came into existence in 1935, when smaller privately owned UK airlines merged. Another change occurred when the Government nationalised British Airways and Imperial Airways to form BOAC The British Overseas Airways Corporation. During this period, external markets were more stable and predictable and there was no real need for BA to adopt competitive strategies, being that there was little competition from rivals. There appears to be little in the way of strategy formulation and strategy implementation. This was mainly due to the established strategy and organisation environment remaining largely unchanged. Any change in BA s strategy would have developed in an incremental fashion, an almost natural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bulk of BA s history has been spent as a nationalised industry in a fairly stable environment. 1.3 CORPORATE CULTUREDEFINED Management researchers seem to agree that the things that companies do called corporate culture is an intangible concept and hence difficult to define. Among the attempts to define corporate culture , the following definition is useful as a starting point: culture represents an interdependent set of values and ways of behaving that are common in a community and that tend to perpetuate themselves, sometimes over long periods of time (Kotter and Heskett,1992,141) Peters and Watermann argue that changing a culture cannot be accomplished. 1.4 CHANGES WITH BA DUE TO EXTERNAL PRESSURES The story of British Airways is one of the most widely used inspirational accounts of changing culture (Heller 1992). BA faced two external pressures. The Thatcher government was threatening to privatise it and also the deregulation of the industry worldwide. Within Lundberg s model of the organisational learning cycle, he suggests that in order for cultural change to occur the requisite external and internal circumstances must occur. He describes the two external enabling conditions. These are known as domain forgiveness the degree of threat due to instability of the environment and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Chemical Weapons And Nuclear Weapons Chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons have changed the way that people look at wars forever. Since their implementation into the battlefield, it has been realized that these taboo weapons are ones to be feared. Responsible for an extravagant amount of deaths over the past eighty years, chemical, biological, and nuclear threats are not to take lightly. A nuclear weaponis an explosive device designed to derive its destructive explosion via nuclear fission, nuclear fusion, or a combination of the two processes . The implementation of nuclear weapons was a Figure 1) serious game changer, and gave the upper hand to the more technologically advanced countries because of the scientific efforts that go into developing these weapons, making the possession of nuclear weapons a more apt problem for nations themselves, rather than non state actors, such as terrorist groups. As shown in Figure 1, there has been a general steady decrease of the amount of nuclear weapons held by the United States. This is where chemical and biological weapons differ from nuclear weapons. Over the past years, chemical and biological weapons have seen more action, and this can be attested to the significant difference in developing these weapons. Because chemical and biological weapons are so easily acquired, it is more likely to see them being used by terrorist groups rather than nations themselves. Because of the potential threats and easy obtainment of biological weapons, they are potentially the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Holden Caulfield Character Analysis Many authors express themselves through their characters within their books. They create a writing piece through their eyes of the world. They often reflect their own personal experiences through a character. This makes the text more interesting to read, and easier to understand. A reader can make connections to the story, if there are real world experiences within a character. J.D Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, serves as an example for this. Holden Caulfield, the main character, is very opinionated and rebellious. Holden has a rough childhood, and experiences many ups and downs. He has a hard time staying at one school, and staying out of trouble. J.D. Salinger has many similarities in his life to Holden. Salinger uses many of his personal life experiences to form Holden s character and personality. To begin with, The Catcher in the Rye begins with Holden at a football game against Saxon Hall. Holden is getting kicked out of Pency Prep, and leaving fencing equipment on the subway did not help. The dean had warned him once before, but Holden did not care. He was flunking all of his classes except one, and failed to bring them up. Holden does not like his roommate, Stradlater. Stradlater is a tall, handsome, fit, and perfect on the outside guy but not so perfect in secret. Holden thinks Stradlater is a secret slob, and a phony. Stradlater shaves his face with dirty razors and passes gas. This is why Holden calls him a secret slob. Next, Stradlater takes out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. America s Accountability to its Constitution and the... Our constitution is built upon the ideas of freedom and decency. After all, it was written after hundreds of years worth of tyranny both at home in England (at the time), and abroad. People were standing against oppression leveled against them from thousands of miles away (for example, the Boston Tea Party), and they were called traitors to the Crown. Today, if someone speaks out against the US and its oppression, or chooses to fight back, we call him an insurgent or a terrorist. It s quite a twist. Our country was built upon the values laid out in the constitution, and any individual working in the name of the US is absolutely bound by these truths. There is nothing which permits a violation of this; no reason can be which excuses such... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trying to argue against that point would be somewhere on the order of arguing against gravity. The pictures speak for themselves (Unauthored). And also consider this: the woman who took the infamous Abu Ghraib photographs was ...convicted by a court martial, in May of 2005, of conspiracy to maltreat prisoners, dereliction of duty, and maltreatment, and sentenced to six months in prison, a reduction in rank, and a bad conduct discharge (Gourevitch). So the debate of whether or not Abu Ghraib was torture seems moot. From there, it would seem absurd to argue in support of it anywhere, in any country, for any reason. It is undeniable that what went on at Abu Ghraib was never a series of isolated incidents, which were unbeknownst to the military leadership. It is Taguba s opinion that this would not be possible (Hersh). Any person in the military is taught from day one to follow orders. The woman in charge of the prison at the time was Janis Karpinski, an Army reserve brigadier general, although she was not stationed there very long. It was the report written by Taguba which exposed the ...sadistic, blatant, and wanton criminal abuses, which occurred there (Hersh). It would seem quite unreasonable that one could think that an Army General would embark upon a random course of such insane violence, on such a wide scale. • 7. Torchy s Tacos For the last few months, there has been a hype over a local taco joint called Torchy s Tacos located on West McDermott in Allen. From people giving it such a positive review, I decided to give it a try. As someone who is a lover of tacos, including breakfast tacos, I knew I would be a tough critic over Torchy s. After I went to Torchy s twice, I decided to give it two thumbs up. I love Mexican food, and as a native of Texas I ve had plenty of it in my sixteen years of life. Just as a disclaimer, if you are not a fanatic of spicy foods, I would not suggest Torchy s to you. From my first trip, I tried the queso first which contains green chile, quacamole, and diablo hot sauce, but as a lover of fiery foods, I fairly enjoyed this. Their chips are made homemade style and the only negative thing I would say is their chips are made too thin for their queso. The queso weighs too heavily on the chip breaking them in half 9 out of 10 times you go in for a delicious bite. The chips themselves are excellent, but I would suggest making them a bit thicker in order to enjoy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You have the option to make it trashy meaning you take the lettuce off and add queso, which of course I did because for this experience I was going to go all out. Once I poured the jalapeno ranch on top of my taco, the flour tortilla is too small to full wrap up it s contents. As soon as I picked up my taco, the queso, pico de gallo, ranch sauce, and green chiles fell out of the bottom. Alas, I would not let this go to waste so I scooped all of it up and tried again, but using a fork instead. I was sort of bummed knowing I couldn t properly eat this taco, but I was still mucho ... While the marketing literature confirms product trial efficacy over advertising (Marks and Kamins 1988; Smith 1993; Wright and Lynch 1995), the extant literature does not have an answer to questions that marketing practitioners may have Why consumers tend to dislike products after an initial positive response during product trial? Why consumers tend to start developing an affinity for products over extended use despite having not liked them during the initial trial? This exploratory study is an attempt to understand whether consumers use different yardsticks to evaluate product trial experience and post purchase consumption experience. More specifically, the study reviews product trial and post purchase evaluation and presents a discussion in the context of consumer satisfaction literature. Similar to whiteflies, there are about 5,000 species of thrips, but 10 are known to vector plant viruses (Hull, 2002c). Like aphids, their polyphagous nature and ability to reproduce quickly and parthenogenically are contributing factors to their effectiveness as virusvectors. Thrips tabaci , for example is capable of feeding on 140 different plants species and produce several generations within a year (Hull, 2002c). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Salivation in piercing sucking insects is considered important in the dispersal of plant viruses (Bragard et al., 2013). Alternatively, chewing beetles regurgitate during feeding which then covers their mouthparts with plant sap, but counter intuitively does not allow for a purely mechanical transmission of viruses. There is still specificity due to RNase activity and retention involved with beetle transmission. While it may seem that there are not many known beetle vectors of plant viruses, due to the size and diversity of the Coleoptera order, it is believe there are many that remain to be discovered (Hull, 2002c). Plant viruses can have many negative impacts on agricultural crops that often is difficult to quantify into an estimated economic loss due to the inconspicuous nature of viruses. Damage imposed by viruses can include a reduction in plant growth directly reducing yield or a reduction in vigor which can leave a plant more susceptible to other environmental or pest related damage (Hull, 2002b). In addition, viral symptoms can reduce the quality and marketability of the crop which can either be in its appearance, composition, ability to keep, or be used as propagation material. Other mentionable impacts are the costs associated with maintaining crop health due to viruses such as vector control, cultural hygiene, producing and purchasing virus free material, quarantine programs, breeding programs, and funding research programs (Hull, 2002b). Mao accessed the challenges facing China in a possible warwas their military logistics and strategy. The dynamics and logistics of the Chinese military versus the Japanese army were incomparable. Mao identified Japan as an oppressive regime, and the people of China will be oppressed by Japan after the war. Mao s appeal to the rational usage of guerrilla tactics was an effort to remove the negative connotations. As an effort to dismiss the negative bias, Mao examines the historical battles that used guerrilla tactics. He exampled the war efforts of Napoleon and Russian Soviets. Contrasting Themes In David Lynch s Film Blue Velvet Contrasting Themes in Blue Velvet The subconscious psyche is one of the most fascinating and almost completely inexplicable aspects of human behavior. Even more intriguing than merely the subconscious is the notion of a darker, more repressed side that many individuals refuse to acknowledge exists within them. In David Lynch s film Blue Velvet, the director attempts to explore the psyche of a young man named Jeffrey Beaumont, most notably the clash between his darker side and good side for the first time in his life. Using themes that sharply contrast one another, Lynch provides insight into the character of Jeffrey and the struggle that he is faced with. The gun on the television is in direct contrast to what has been taking place visually up to this point. The mise en scene has been depicting an idealized American town, and yet the image of a gun is used as an allusion to something more sinister lurking within the town, with the interior of Jeffrey s house perhaps representing the inner sanctum of Jeffrey s subconscious. From here, Lynch cuts back to the long shot of Jeffrey s father watering the lawn, followed by a close up of the faucet where the hose is connected. Suddenly, the cuts are very rapid and the camera cuts between close ups of the hose, the faucet, and Jeffrey s father, who eventually keels over in an apparent stroke. This is followed by a long shot of a dog attempting to bite the water spraying out of the hose, with a cut to a close up of the dog doing this behavior in slow motion. Slowly, the non digetic sound of Blue Velvet fades out, giving way to an unintelligible and faint sound which appears to be non digetic as well. However, the camera zooms into an extreme close up of the grass and tracks through the grass as well, with the unintelligible noise increasing in volume. The shot then dissolves to reveal an entire population of cockroaches infesting the soil, and what had previously been non digetic sound has now become the loud, digetic sound of the insects movement. ESTIMATION OF SALIVARY NITRIC OXIDE LEVELS IN CHILDREN WITH CONGENITAL HEART DISEASES INTRODUCTION Heart disease is one of the most common developmental abnormalities among children, affecting approximately 6 per 1,000 live births , .Dental management of children with congenital heart disease requires special attention, because of their increased susceptibility to infectious endocarditis, associated with bacteraemia induced by invasive dental procedures. Oral health in these patients is not given due importance and thus they often have poor oral health. These patients also have increased caries risk which may be largely attributed to the developmental enamel defects. , , There has been a mounting interest in the role of nitrates and nitrites in protection against oral diseases particularly dental caries in the last few years. , There is a constant supply of concentrated nitrates, the metabolic products of nitric oxide (NO) in the human oral cavity. It is generated either directly from the physiological reduction of dietary nitrates or it originates from L arginine undergoing the reaction catalyzed by inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) which is an enzyme expressed in salivary glands and duct epithelial cells when induced by pro inflammatory stimuli. , , , Nitric oxide and its metabolic products, nitrates and nitrites, have been associated with various deleterious effects in humans in the past decades. However, the recent evidence has suggested that NO has a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both of the situations are out of good will, a good purpose, so it should be considered as a good, moral duty. To conclude, I believed a good will is built naturally, inborn but there are factors from the growing environment like family background, peer pressure that affects the good will. These may makes people become evil. On the other hand, I believed no matter there is no purpose or positive purpose behind can be considered as duty. • 15. Sigmund Freud Assessment Of Civilization Summary Sigmund Freud s Assessment of Civilization In Civilization and Discontents, Sigmund Freud analyzes the relationship between individuals and civilization and how it relates to his theory of instincts and the individual psyche. The viewpoint of civilization and the individuals residing in it changed after the First World War when death became anonymous with the use of new war tactics and weapons such as trench warfare, machine guns, and tanks. Many were left unsettled at the savagery that the modern man was capable of. The idea of civilization and the actions individuals made became more complex and Freud s theory of instincts began to become pertinent to the times. Freud believed that the human psyche is composed of three distinct parts; id, ego, and superego. Id is the set of unconscious desires that are deep within an individual, called the subconscious (Offman Lecture 6). This first part of the human psyche is primitive and is made up of all inherited components of personality that can be found at birth. Freud believed that the id could not be controlled beyond certain limits and that it was part of your instinct that is found within all individuals living in any type of civilization (Freud 101). The id of each individual is described by Freud as never before been touched by the external world, therefore it will not change over time or with an individual s life experiences. The id believes that every sensation of pain of or unpleasure should be removed and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. The Banking Industry and Customer Research The Banking industry and Customer Research Discussion Given the competitive atmosphere in banking and the need to interest and retain clients, banks rely strongly on client s satisfaction and customer loyalty. This is particularly so given today s slowing industry growth and tremendous pressure to maintain and hold onto one s business. Traditional banks also today face competition from online banks that can afford to offer customers attractive deposit products at low rates and that provide attractive interest rates. Aside from that, traditional banks face competition, too, from non banks, such as a Wal Mart, that open banks within their stores. For all these reasons and more, the reputation and success of traditional banks directly hinges on the extent to which they manage to retain their client s services and please him to the extent that he will refer others to the bank. The better then that the bank knows their individual clients and factors that they seek from the bank, the better then will the bank succeed in pleasing these clients and attracting others. Customer research, ipso facto, is a significant part of marketing in terms of enabling the bank to maintain and enhance its portfolio. Customer research is all the more effective when it characterizes an open door policy with the bank and when it uses inbound marketing to reach customers outside the bank. If you were Bob Turley, what might you have done differently during the attack? Normally, a company would follow emergency procedures while dealing with crises, but in iPremier s case, there was no emergency procedure available. Under these circumstances, and with no prior experience with security breaches, I believe the company performed well. Bob Turley communicated well with the other members of the company, but if I were in his shoes, I would have been more conservative and acted faster. They had an outdated emergency manual that employees couldn t find, and almost couldn t access the data center. Additional measures they could have implemented long before the attack include revising the emergency procedure and making sure all employees know how to follow it. 3. Now the attack has ended, what can the iPremier Company do to prepare for another such attack? While I mentioned revising the emergency procedure in the previous question, there are other ways to prepare as well. iPremier could implement a method to escalate unsatisfactory service from Qdata to higher level management; if they switch to a data center with open lines of communication, the next crisis would be easier to handle, or it might even be completely averted. 4. In the aftermath of the attack, what would you be worried about? What actions would you recommend? I would be worried about three issues, including the identity and motivation of the hacker, the amount of data that was taken from iPremier, and public disclosure. Since Bob didn t pull the plug, there is a log documenting what happened during the attack I would start by analyzing the log and trying to solve the first two issues. • 20. Plastics And The Plastic Age The current period in human history is referred to as the plastic age (CГіzar et al 2014). Plastic is synthetic polymers derived from petroleum (Vikas Dwarakish 2015), it is lightweight, inexpensive to produce and hailed as an industrial achievement (Detloff Istel 2016). Moreover, plastic does not decompose, the durable material simply breaks into smaller particles, pervading the water and marine life (Detloff Istel 2016). Our current society has established a constant consume and discard rhythm, fuelling the plasticeconomy . Marine plastic pollution mainly occurs from land based plastic debris, comprised of: littering, incessant plastic bag use and inappropriate disposal (Derriak 2002). Microplastics are pieces of plastic less than five millimetres in size (Detloff Istel 2016). These particles account for 92% of the plastics in the ocean (Shim Thomposon 2015). Microplastics have become ubiquitous in the ocean, found as far as the Arctic and Antarctic seas (Obbard et al 2014 as cited in Shim Thomposon 2015; Law Thompson 2014 as cited in Shim Thomposon 2015). Plastic pollution is also significantly damaging the fragile marine ecosystem, as well as massacring innocent marine creatures (Deltoff Istell 2016; Avio, Gorbi Regoli 2017). Overall, preventing ocean plastic pollution is difficult, due to the large volume of production and contamination, particularly microplastics, coupled with inadequate disposal practices of plastic. In 2014, 311 million tonnes of plastic were produced (Detloff Istel 2016), and half was disposed of within the year (Singh Sharma 2016). The most commonly used and plentiful polymers are: high density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polypropylene and polyethylene terephthalate (Andray Neal 2009 as cited in Li, Tse and Fok 2016). These polymers account for 90% of total plastic production, and as a result are the most common plastics found in aquatic environments (Andray 2011 and Engel 2012 as cited in Li, Tse and Fok 2016). Plastic debris often migrates to form five subtropical gyres, large garbage patches colloquially dubbed marine soup (Eriksen et al 2013; Weinstein 2009). John Milton and Alexander Pope both write of supporting characters that are sent to protect the main character in their stories. Both Ariel and Raphael have many similar qualities that make them a character that is used to bring warning to the protagonist and to foreshadow to readers what the outcome of the story will be. Ariel is a sylph, or a magical being that was a coquette in his life before. Although this is distinctly different than Raphael s identity as one of God s angels, they share several qualities. Both are described as being very friendly and gentle. Ariel warns Belinda through a dream in attempt to protect her from the stealing of a lock of her hair. Raphael is sent to Eden to become friends with Adam and to warn him of the sin that is lying in wait for them. Both of these guardians are seeking protection for the human and desire for them to be kept from evil. They also try to relate to the humans. Ariel understands Belinda s vanity and pride in her appearance because he once was a coquette as well. He even assists in her thorough morning routine. Raphael is also able to relate to Adam through the discussion of love. Adam asks him about angel s love lives and Raphael is able to understand Adam s struggle to not idolize his love for Eve. • 27. The Medieval Church And The Development Of Medieval... Medieval Theatre was a source of education and reflection for the residents of the Middle Ages. Serving as an inspiration for Renaissance plays, it took centuries of evolution for Medieval to accommodate themes outside of the Bible. Theatre in the Middle Ages was an enemy of the Catholic Church, who tried to terminate these performances. Unusually, the Catholic Church played a significant role in the development of Medieval Theatre. Although plays were limited to the themes of the Bible for a long period of time, bizarre masks, costumes and great structuring of stages were used. Following the collapse of the Roman Empire, a small group of performers travelled to various destinations to entertain audiences about all aspects of life. They toured countries and many regions to tell stories, play music and even perform acrobatic arts. Wherever they went, festivals emerged. This caused commotion between Religious practitioners, who tried to convert the performers and end their performances which were deemed sinful. The Catholic Church, which was highly responsible for the growth of Medieval Theatre, offered a service. This service provided the dramatization of Biblical stories which were held on church premises. It was not until the 13th century that religious performances were beginning to be held outside of the church. John Keats, one of England s greatest poets, published several poems, including one of his most famous ones in 1819, Ode on A Grecian Urn (Keats 247). Keats was a renowned poet during the British Romantic period. Romantic literature focused on beauty and emotions. So, what is the significance of the scenes depicted on the mysterious urn? Is the urn simply a masterpiece of art with emphasis only on physical beauty? In the poem, Ode on A Grecian Urn, John Keatscreates mysterious scenes on a Greek urn to contrast between everlasting art and human life. Keats contrasts both worlds through the urn s elaborate description, the theme of personal relationships, and the ultimate message of beauty, with significant relevance to modern times. Throughout history, inspiration has been drawn from written works as a means to convey a new perspective on an old story: paintings depicting biblical scenes, stage plays, ballads, films and even youtube videos. In today s society, it has become commonplace for written work to be converted into a visual medium, most notably films. Indeed, this ability is the strongest weapon a film has and in Richard II, it is something that the director, Rupert Goold, uses to convey the internal conflict of Richard II in a biblical tone.
