The document provides a self-evaluation of a student's music video production project. It identifies weaknesses in the student's research, planning, and time management that resulted in a final product that differed from the original intent and was of lower quality. The student realized poor time management was the biggest hindrance, causing rushed work. For future projects, the student plans to focus on improved time management to allow for a creative vision to be fully realized.

3. Research
• The strengths of my research were that most of my time and effort went
into attempting to understand each genre of music's own styled music
videos as each genre had a stereotypical theme throughout different
styles as I wanted to combine two music video styles like a dance video
mixed with a storyline to create a completely different style of video
which could be different. The weaknesses of my videos research is that I
had a main focus on what I wanted to do so my research was focused a
lot on a certain idea and I ended up not being able to create so I had to
change my final project ut my reserch didn’t enable me to unerstand
much about the genre I was doing and the style of video I was going to
make .
4. Planning
• The strengths of my planning are that I had a certain idea in my mind on
what I had to plan out a different style music video due to poor time
management I had to make a rap video which was poor due to time and
my research didn't help the planning as my research focused on a
completely different creative ide but I couldn't make it so I had to resolve
to a more basic video so my planning was very vague as I hadn't thought
about the idea that much as it was my backup idea so the planning was
very poor and didn't help build up evidence and ideas for the final
product
5. Time Management
• My time management was very very poor due to me being ill for a day so
then id be behind and have to push that work behind and it created a
domino effect which had the worst impact on my final product as I didn't
have enough time to make my intended project which was a creative
video which combined 2 completely different styles into it but due to
poor time management I had too just create a very poor and messy
music video which had no real purpose an not storyline etc. I fi had more
time to produce more work for my final project I would've mad a
storyline for the video and involved more lip-sync which would help
combine 2 stales of video into one which is quite hard to do but is done a
lot and is popular which would help appeal to the audience.
6. Technical Qualities - camera
The camera quality in my music video is very poor as I filmed mainly on tripod
and in hand as I had so little time I couldn't book the equipment I needed as my
time management wasn't great due to always falling behind and missing certain
days off. The similarities between mine and this vide I that when hand held the I
chose the move the camera when circling to twist and turn to look quite smooth
and have a better effect due to it being shaky anyway, this did work to a certain
extent but still not perfect. The differences between the 2 products here are that
the camera quality is very poor in mine as my tripod was very low down so a lot
of shots are at a low angle.
7. Technical Qualities – editing/post
My editing helped me a lot due to the poor camera quality although my editing
was ok but a lot over the place as I lacked a camera man and people to help film.
The similarities is that I used a lot of post editing effects like in this video as I used
such effects like the mirror effects and blended my adjustment layers to create
darker and lighter settings. The differences is that mine was a lot over the place as I
didn't film enough so parts of one segment of film are at different places in the
video
8. Aesthetic Qualities
My work looks good to a certain extent as the camera quality was very poor
due to the parts being hand held are very very shaky and look awful and
very poor and also the editing created a project which looked very messy
and a lot of parts were split up and placed in completely different parts of
the video. It wasn't as creative as I wanted to make my project much better
but I ended up with a very boring and poor lip sync video as such as this was
due to my very poor time management and lack of ideas for a different
project as it wasn't what I was planning on making.
9. Audience Appeal
I believe I do appeal to the target audience as the older teens will be able
to see that it isn't taking itself seriously and is almost a parody due to the
faming/agriculture background setting. It appeals to the audience due to it
being a parody but it has quite high skilled editing processes like the use of
the mirror effects and the difference in colour at the beginning and
towards the end which helps the older audience see more depth in the
video.
10. Action Plan for future development
• A major key point for my project would be to focus on my time
management due to me falling behind a lot during the project which
had a major effect on my final piece as it was quite rushed and not
what I wanted to make at the beginning so my final project was late
and rushed so it only enabled me to not get a good grade for the
piece and I didn't enjoy making it due to lack of time I had left for
myself. I enjoyed the concept too making different music videos and I
also enjoyed understanding the different processes that are needed
when making a music video. I wish I could explore different themes in
music videos and genres and had the time management and ability to
make a completely different styled music video and would enjoy
attempting to do so in the future.
