3. Research
• Researching helped me to have some ideas of how could I make the
video interesting and appealing for my audience. The existing products
helped me to have an idea and decide the scenes and the angles that
would be interesting to include on the video. It also helped me to collect
some ideas for the flashback scenes and to decide the places. This also
helped me to see what would make my product appealing for the
audience, what are the most popular in the moment to make my
product.
• A weakness of this is that sometimes it wouldn’t give me lots of
information about the singer’s target audience which make difficult to
make the product appealing for the singer’s audience. I would improve
the existing product research giving more detail to make it more
informative.
4. Planning
• A strength of planning is that I could decide the important parts of my
project which have helped me to make it looks professional and make
the video looks exactly how I wanted it to be. Planning helped me to put
all my ideas together and bring it to life. It was exactly how I planned so
planning made it easy to produce.
• The weakness of planning is that you have to decide each scene, and
sometimes when editing the video things change a little bit to make the
video look better and interesting. I could improve the scenes to make it
be exactly how I planned.
5. Time Management
• I managed my time well, I finished my project on time which was a bit
hard because I missed a week of production so I had to accelerate and
tried to catch up so that I could finish the project. If I had more time I
would improve the studio scenes, I would try to record more scenes
where I could use to make the video more interesting to watch. I would
also try to use different effects and would try make the video even more
interesting for the audience.
6. Technical Qualities - camera
• In the flashbacks I used this existing to inspire
me, in my product the couple were watching
horror movie together where in the existing
product they shared sweets, but you don’t
actually know what they was doing because it
only shows she sharing her sweet with him.
In the existing product there’s a scene where
the couple was arguing about something, in
my product just have the couple spending
time together.
• Both music videos has a similar idea in the background
which is the lights, but in the existing product it seems that
the lights are the singer’s fans in the concert where in my
product the lights are just the decoration that I used to
make the background interesting. Another similarity is that
on both videos has some couple moments, but in the
existing product the singer is part of these scenes, whereas
in my video is telling a story of another couple.
7. Technical Qualities – editing/post
• In this existing product they recorded different angles of
the singer and the scenario and when editing, they cut the
parts and added into the video so that could have this
different transitions. Whereas in my product just have the
singer from a angle which I think was easy to produce, I
tried to add more scenes from this part but it wasn’t
looking good so I decided just to have the singer and the
flashbacks. In my product it has more content than this
existing video, they just have the singer on the studio
where in my video has the flashbacks. Both videos have the
same transition at the beginning of the video which is the
fade effect.
8. Aesthetic Qualities
• I think my work look good, but next time I
would improve some scenes, making sure
that I achieved my goal. I would record the
studio scenes, trying to get the scenes from
different angles which I think would make
the video even better. The scenes from
different angles would repair the scenes
where the singer got confused with the
lyrics. I would also play with the colours and
make some flashbacks to make it match with
the whole video scenario.• A strength of my product is that it was easy
to make. The song matched perfectly with
the video, same as the flashback with the
lyrics. The plan was to make the scenes
from the lyrics and I have achieved this. A
weakness of this is that it could be better if
I had recorded the scenes in the studio so
that I could add them on the singer parts.
9. Audience Appeal
I have appealed to my target audience which are
female teenagers between the age 14 to 25 might
be more interested to watch the video because
they are the most likely to listening the singer and
they might enjoy watching the video. I think
because it is a female singer, the audience might
feel attached with the singer and what the lyrics is
trying to say. Also, the audience could like the
story that the flashbacks are trying to show. Fans
of acoustic versions might also be interested in
watching my music video.
11. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
I personally thought the home-video style clips worked really well and split the
constant lip syncing up nicely.
The lip syncing sections were well coloured and were very visually interesting.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
• The framing of the lip syncing could be improved
• The beginning could be shortened by moving the alternate clips around or
adding more footage
12. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
• The composition of the fames were shot very well and gave a very
professional feel to the solo artist shots and the soft ambient lighting of the
backdrop with fairy lights created a good visual tone and mood for the genre.
• The narrative shots were steady and transitioned well and worked well fed
into the song.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
• The narrative shots could have had some colour correction in as the contrast
between those and the solo artist were sudden and changed the overall tone
and mood of the video slightly.
• The song naturally had build up in tension of the chorus and this could have
been used to have a faster cutting pace or used a sequence of shorter or
intimate shots nearer these sections of the verse to give it more meaning.
13. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
• The visual aspect of the video was set out well, for example the lights as the
background helps set the mood.
• Good use of camera work, there were different angles and different things
happening throughout the video.
• There were different locations in the video so it wasn’t all the same
• I also liked the effects used towards the end of the video where there were
different coloured lights in the outdoor location
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
• Possibly different angle shots during the clips of the performer singing
14. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
• I agree that in the singer’s performance could have more shots of different
angles. In this scene it tool a while to something happen, with the different
angles will have more content.
• I also agree that I should tried change the colour of some flashback’s
scenes to make the contrast of it similar to the whole video.
• The lip-syncing could also be improved.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
• I disagree that at the beginning could be shorter because it was planned to
match with the pianist part, otherwise it wouldn’t make sense if I cut this
part off.
15. Peer Feedback Summary
What changes would you make to your product based upon your peer
feedback and why?
• I would record the singer’s performance from different angles so
that it could have more effects and transitions between some verses
of the music. I would also try to experiment changing the colour
saturation of the scenes that it was lighter because the whole video
has dark colours where in some flashback colours is brighter and
different from the rest of the video.
16. Action Plan for future development
• I really liked the effects that I used to edit the video and I might use
this in further development. I enjoyed doing the music video, I want
to explore more so that I could be able to try new things. The only
issue that I had were the scenes that I recorded in different angles to
use in the video.
