3. RESEARCH
My main strength of my research was my large sample size, I did
more than enough research into the artist themselves- engrossing
myself in their full music video discography- I researched
collaborating artists associates and other prominent figures in their
genera and sub genera’s. The aforementioned research helped
massively in giving inspiration and understanding of the type of
music video I was making. In my research I saw a multitude of cool
shots that I wanted to incorporate in my own video and ultimately I
believe added to the video without seeming out of place. The sheer
amount of ideas and shots I had at my disposable allowed me to
create 2 music videos if needs be, it allowed choice and
interchangeability while at the same time forcing me to chose a
small set of ideas. The limitation of shots allows for room to use
the ideas not in place now, for other videos and this should help
my overall content not be stale.
A weakness of my research was that I spent far too long at it, and
consequently I attempted to involve all of my ideas in one project,
this was a form of creative frenzy with practicality and aesthetic
clashing. There was a huge want for things to look cool like I had
seen in my research but in reality I did not have the skill, money, or
resources to pull of half of what I had observed. To improve next
time I will only research videos that are practical and easier to pull
off without the mega money provided by a major label, I wont get
distracted by the flashy things that are shown and will focus on

4. PLANNING
A strength of my plan is the in-depth nature of certain aspects and
the memory linking with certain sections of the song, this allowed
the plan to be easily memorable, furthermore the plan was
narrative in nature so the natural flow of everything worked out
well and was simple to follow along with. The plan helped with
giving me a goal to work towards and having a guideline to follow
helped get the project done, having something as a clear next stop
helped massively with my motivation and perfectionism.
A weakness of my planning was that my plan and goals were far
too ambitious and unrealistic to pull off. My plan made the filming
at points feel really disappointing and was a huge blow to my
mental when I couldn’t get an insane shot that I had planned done
in the exact way I thought of I had at times re shot the same scene
about 30 times in desperate attempts to get it perfect. I was
severely disappointed when I realised some shots were just
impractical and wouldn’t fit in with what I had planned, some parts
of the plan hinged on certain extremely unobtainable shots and
this forced me to adapt and change while filming. Next time I will
try to stay more grounded as to not fixate on a few really cool
unachievable shots.

5. TIME MANAGEMENT
I kept to the schedule fairly well and didn’t go over my
allotted time or have a big rush in filming, I did leave the
later half of the shooting a bit late but nothing too bad. I
wish I would of completed all my filming and editing
much sooner because it would be anther thing off my
chest and something I don’t have to be anxious about.
Additional time would of hurt my project more than help
it due to my hatred of my own work, I would of probably
redid everything and try and restart like I do with most of
my creative ideas. If I had more time to work I would be
obsessing over all the small details and stressing over
how bad I perceived my work to be. Next time I plan on
getting things done week by week taking my small
victories in stride rather than having one large one then
crashing and burning later on.
In hindsight I should of gotten filming all done in the
week before production started. My time management
plan was great but my execution was worse than I

6. TECHNICAL QUALITIES -
CAMERA
In my video I exploited the use of a tripod a lot with almost all shots
incorporated a tripod in some way. Next time I want to get a lot of
different angles maybe some drone shots moving shots and really push
the boundaries on what I can do. Compared to other videos by the artist
I'm sampling the type of shot and positioning of the camera is very
bland and far too stationary, a fluid moving shot with a lot of cuts would
have been a massive improvement.

7. TECHNICAL QUALITIES –
EDITING/POST
The lightning looked rubbish and overdone, next time I edit I'm not
going to add useless things like that. A strength of my editing is that I
don’t feel like I over edited and every edit archived the desired effect, I
didn’t oversaturate my video with uneccasery effects or edits that
looked cool for the sake of looking cool.
A weakness of my editing is that I didn’t get the edits that I wanted and
there was really only one or 2 edits that fit the style of editing that
zillakami useses. I would of liked to use some different transitions and
effects but they were not in the library and I originally thought they
were.
A second strength with my editing is that I manged to sink up editing
really well to audio ques in the song such as the main subject in the
chorus.
A lot of transitions were tacky and didn’t fit well, parts of the edits
looked very armature and unprofessional, some cuts seemed too long
and the video seemed to be slightly offset audio-video wise in the final
production. The editing was not what I had planned although I’m not

8. AESTHETIC QUALITIES
I believe my work does achieve the look its going for without sacrificing
quality. I feel as though its creative to an extent as its following a
narrative. There were a lot of creative and symbolic decisions while
filming, such as the black balloons and where they were positioned, what
time of day to film at, should we tilt the camera for this scene etc etc. I
would improve the mood by shooting at a slightly later time maybe with
lights to allow some diversity in lighting. A strength of my work is that
it fits in with the genera conventions and creates the right feel with out
looking low quality, it balances the dark and moody with the light of the
day still allowing for shadows to be visible. There was a very dull pallet
but there was enough contrast in some shots to justify the earlier black
and grey.
A weakness in the film would be the lack of dynamic lighting and lean
into the aesthetic style, especially with costumes. There was a small
continuity error in the 2nd scene but its overlook able. I should of fully
committed to looking fringe/punk. I could of repainted my nails to be
black so it would fit in better in some of my shots. It would have been

9. AUDIENCE APPEAL
My audience is meant to be that of ZillaKamis cult like fanbase. I have
appealed to them by using zillas song, his fanbase is really drawn to
anything zillakami such as my video, the audio its self is based from a
leaked snippet from a few years ago titled “cowboy bebop” the style of
video is a different more mellow side of what the fanbase is usually use
to and is kind of reminiscent to a hit of “the fall before the give up” and
“the balloons”. There is a lot of cross over from zillikamis audience and
Denzel currys audience, both of these artists talk a lot on the balloons
and both use them as symbols of negativity and bad thoughts in their
art, my video makes use of black balloons in the 2nd half this will be
appreciated by the fans as it’s a niche but cool symbol that is catching
on. I think I could have been better at appeasing the audience by
looking mote fringe and having more graphic content, If I would of
sowed off the duality of hardcore with the softer deeper meanings the
video would have been better.
