Carter Smith conducted research and produced merchandise for an indie music project. Peer feedback noted strengths like the trippy design and merchandise products. Weaknesses included not having enough variety in products. Carter agreed more products could have been made, but disagreed that logos needed changing or products looked too similar. 3. Research
• One of the strengths of my research will be that I have gained a variety of skills from
doing the practical research, this is a strength because those skill I have gained have
given me the chance to make a product to the best of my ability. I will be using these
skills in future because I want to make more improvements. One weakness of my
research will be that I didn’t spend enough time on certain things and it could
possibly effect my work. I have corrected the errors whilst looking back. Another
strength of my product is that I found out what I like from merchandise, posters and
album cover, I now know what I like and what I don’t like. This helped with my
product because it gave me a good insight to what I want to produce, this is because
I found out that I like the indie designs, this type of designs would match perfectly
with my creativity and it has.
• One weakness of my production will be that I had not spent enough time on certain
things, this caused me to have a slight struggle with my time management and
slightly effected my production at the beginning. I then decided to produce the
product I wanted with the skills I gained and also with the research I had gained, this
made me create the best product I could make with the time management I had at
the time. In future I will improve on my time management because I want it to be
better for my production standard. This would have effected my overall production
by a large amount.

4. Planning
• A strength of my planning was that I knew what to produce in my head it was just
putting it on paper and that is what I did, in my planning I saw what I wanted to
produce and I did this because I wanted to make the product all my idea so I
could have unique standard of work that was all my idea. From the planning I also
saw what I don’t like, this gave me a advantage because I didn’t create something
that I didn’t like just because it would have been easier. Another strength of my
planning will be that I decided to see the basic layout of my merchandise. I found
out from my planning that I had to place the logo or design in certain places for it
to be the most effective. I will also be doing this in future because it has given me
the chance to make my product more professional and to a overall better
standard of production. Overall the planning helped with my work and I will
spend more time on it in future to make sure I can have the best product of my
ability.
• One weakness of my product like my research is that I could have spent more
time on this, this is because I wanted to plan other products such as a music
video and also possible a website. If my time management was to a better
standard I could have had the possibility to do this. This would have effected my
work major and could have given me a professional standard of work. In future I
will spend more time on certain things that could effect my work for the better.

5. Time Management
• I feel that I could have managed my time better but I have completed all of my
production so it is to a decent standard of work, I feel that I could have spent
more time on certain things and could have been working outside of college
more to give me a better overall grade possibly. For my time management
specifically, I wanted to have more time in the research and also the planning
side of things because I feel that this could have improved my work to a better
amount. This because I could have had more time to make my products better
with more skills I could have gained with creating more experiments and also
mock up designs of some of my products.
• This would have given me the chance to make a product that was more unique
and better overall in my eyes because of the skills I could have gained. I
completed my product on time but with additional time I could have created
something that could have been better, something that could have a better
standard of editing and also a product that could be more appealing to the
audience. If I had more time on the project I could have added more detail
into certain places in my work, such as the research PowerPoint and also into
my proposal. This is because I could have designs and created more products
that could have benefitted my work to a better standard.

6. Technical Qualities
For the similarities of the products I have seen that the concept and also the style of the product are
similar with the cartoon effect of each person on both side of the products. I did this because I
wanted to create something that is unique and something that I haven’t created in the past for the
product. A different of the products will be that I have created something in a short period of time to
the best standard of my ability whereas the product on the right hand side has been created by a
professional and is doing it for his living. For my product I feel that I could have created something a
bit more upbeat and different to anything out there at the moment. I have also noticed that my
product has darker colours at the back where as in the killers product they have the darker colours
to the front over the bright red, this will be to make the product more visible and in view to make
them pop out as artists on the piece.

7. Aesthetic Qualities
I feel that my product looks good and is to a good
professional standard because of the quality of
my production. This is because of the images are
placed, this placement is for a reason and has
good and accurate placements for produced
merchandise to a bigger scale. In my opinion my
product is creative and has a good layout, I also
feel that it is appealing to the audience because
for the clothing and merchandise they wanted
something new and unique with a trippy effect. I
like how the products are laid out and that if I
could improve the products I would have made
more items of clothing and other designs of
merchandise.
One strength of my production is that it is
appealing to the audience with the feedback I
have gained and it works well with the overall
FMP layout I have designed and gone for. This
makes my product a good standard of work. One
weakness of my production is that I feel that I
didn’t make enough products. I will do this in
future to make sure I have the best possible
products I could create with the time I have.

8. Audience Appeal
I have created a product that is appealing to my target
audience because from the feed back I had gained
from the research I added the trippy and indie style to
my product and I feel that it has worked out very well
and without the styling and overlaying effect the
product would be less professional and not that
appealing to the audience. The cartoon effect I have
created using photoshop with the inspiration from
Julian Opie. The trippy effect was chosen by the
audience and I liked the way it would work together
and would be a perfect combination of indie designs
and alternative. I also feel that the dripping effect of
the product is appealing to the audience because of
my survey results.
My product is also appealing to my audience because I
have added small adjustment so every answer I got my
survey is included into my product so I could have the
best audience appeal I could possibly have. I will also
do this in future to make my product pop out to the
audience and for it to be aesthetically pleasing.

• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– for my peer feedback I agree with most of the comments,
such as the comments about the trippy effect and the
layering of the merchandise, this is because I also think
that the placement of the products logo and also the
overall product is to a good standard and can be seen that
it took a good amount of time.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
– I disagree that I should make different logos because I have kept
the same style throughout my final major project so everything
can be easily seen and is aesthetically pleasing for the overall
FMP. I also disagree that the style of the merchandise is similar
because the colours are different and also most of the locations of
the logos on the pieces I have produces.

For my peer feedback summary I have seen that
there is a variety of answers but mainly that they like
my product but there is room for improvement, this
is because I could have added a bigger variety of
products and this could have effected my product in
a better and more realistic way.
For my peer feedback summary I have also seen that
some of the feedbacks have had some different and
unexpected views, such as the comment about not
having enough merchandise. I feel that I have
created a big enough variety of merchandise. I also
feel that the designs I have created for my FMP
,including the merchandise, are to a good standard
and are appealing to the audience. In future I will
create a bigger variety of products so my audience
can have a wider chose of merchandise and also a
wider variety of posters and album covers, this is
because I want the product to be appealing as
possible for my benefit.
