3. Research
The research is an important part of making the product as it allows the creator to research all about
different products and different things. In my research I used the internet to look at different products
and the one product but changed loads of different times for example when I used research to make
my top I found different images, fonts , colours and more so I could get lots of different looks and
examples to choose what colours and prints I would like on my own t-shirt. From doing the audience
research I found out what my audience would like within my different products so there actual opinions
however my audience that I asked weren’t familiar with my products and themes I was trying to
achieve so a lot of the data that I received , I didn’t use as it was not helpful.
Some of the strengths of using research to help make your final product is that looking at already
existing products means that you get to collect inspiration for your own product as on the internet
are things that are real and actually sold to make money which means that they will appeal to some
of the public so you get to actually look at what other people have done. Another strength of using
research is audience research and this is helpful when creating your product as you get other peoples
opinions to
Some of the weaknesses of using research is that using survey monkey can not be useful if your
audience aren’t all that interested in your products this can mean that you get unusable answers so
they can only be helpful if the people that you are sending it to actually have knowledge and
understand and most of all actually like the products you are making other wise it will not help you
at all.
4. Planning
The planning is an important part of creating your product as it helps you to layout and really decide
what you want to do and how you want to do it. I used planning to help me actually plan out my
products by laying out and choosing what pictures/fonts/colours I want on my t-shirt so I got to look
around and choose what I want so that when it gets to production I can just use that to help me then I
can just look at what pictures I used instead of leaving it til production then still deciding what to do. I
also used it to storyboard out what I am going to do for my video and photos as I created I kind of
storyboard to help me figure what I am going to do when and where. Another good part of planning is
that you get to decide what equipment you want to use for and when and they you can start to figure
out if it is possible.
Some of the strengths of using planning for me is that I got to really decide what was going to happen in
my fashion video so when it came to actually filming it I wasn’t thinking on the spot to try and create
something without a plan it might not of worked. Another strength of using planning is that I got to
decide final ideas using a layout for my t-shirt which was helpful when it came to actually making my t-
shirt because I knew what images I was going to use and where to find them.
Some of the weaknesses of using planning is that sometimes your products don’t always go to plan for
example my fashion video didn't’t follow the storyboard as we found that some things were very hard to
do so I couldn't’t stick to the original plan that I made.
5. Time Management
For this project I found it difficult to manage my time effectively to make sure I was not handing
anything in late, as I didn’t keep up to date on the initial plans and some of the research which
put me behind and almost making me rush my work so that it was not as good as it can be just so
that it was actually in on time. I think that my products and the planning and writing would be
improved with more time to work on them as I would of got to spend more time actually working
on them for example if we had more time on production I might have had a longer and more
technically difficult video maybe I could do filming on different days with different people which
would improve the quality of my video and make it more professional, I think maybe if I had more
time I could improve my photography as I could spend more time editing them and making them
better but instead I had to be quick and just put a filter on whereas I could of put them into
Photoshop and touch them up to improve them even more. If I did get more time I would spend
more time on my photography as I feel that is my weakest product compared to my t-shirt and
video.
6. Technical Qualities
There are some similarities and differences between some existing products and my work where I
created my own products for example in my research PowerPoint I already had some existing
products as the first couple of slides, for example I used some of the photography for my existing
products as I found that these were what I was trying to recreate however mine turned out to be
a bit different.
7. Aesthetic Qualities
Some of the strengths of my photography and fashion video is
that I don’t include faces, hair or heads so that it is very focused
on the actual clothes so that they are the main focal points. A
strength of my top is that the logo is part of the actual design
with the rose and the AR , I also think that the photo on the
front is very unique as no one else will have that photo. A
strength of my video is that it shows each outfit but doesn't’t
drag on so you can still see it but its not boring. A weakness of
my video is that there are lot of big backgrounds that the viewer
might be distracted and I maybe should of used plain
background.
8. Audience Appeal
I used survey monkey to help me
to understand what my audience
would prefer and like to see in my
products so I created a survey
and chose a range of questions
where I would get helpful
responses.
From my surveys I decided
to use a t-shirt template
where the neck was quite
high as that is what my
audience voted for
In my surveys I asked
if my audience
would prefer a pop
of colour on my t-
shirt as they knew it
was going to be
bland and dark
I decided to use the pattern of
checkerboard as my chosen age range
are more likely to wear this design
than someone in the older
generation.
I asked my audience what
genre of music they would
prefer in the background and
the majority said trap so I
decided to use Travis Scott
because the music syncs in
with the video
From my surveys I found out
that my audience would prefer if
I only used one model
throughout the whole video so
that it doesn’t become a
distraction throughout.
From my survey I found
out that my audience
would prefer the time of
under a minute so that
they don’t become bored
or distracted
To find a urban location i
decided to take me model
outside as I think this makes
you able to see what the
clothes look like in daylight.
From my surveys I can see
that the majority of the
people I asked preferred a
more urban location to make
my photos not so boring.
I decided to call my brand
amyRose as it is simple and quite
reliable as my audience preferred
something that is actually
relatable
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the transitions between each outfit in the video
as they looked more professional.
– Also I liked the music as it made the video more
appealing.
– I liked the different outfits used by Amy on
Portfoliobox and I also liked the locations which Joe
chose for the photos to be taken.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• The raw photographs could’ve been edited a bit
to draw more focus to the clothes which are
supposed to be the main part of the photoshoot.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– On the video I like that you are showing off plenty of clothes to
promote your brand. Also you have had some good transitions to
make the video look more professional.
– On the portfolio I like that you are outside so it has good lighting.
– On the t-shirt design I like that you have added an image to the front
of it and then you have made the image black and white. Also I like
that you have added a rose because of the name of the brand.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
• To improve the video you could of made the end of the video fade in and
out.
• To improve the portfolio you could of taken some of the images closer up.
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I really like the transition change between each
scene in the video and the camera angles are
perfect to make the viewers focus on the fashion
designs, I also like the outfits that have been used.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Maybe to improve this a bit you could have
blurred the background to make the audience
focus more on the designs on the images
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback? From my feedback I agree that I could of blurred the background and
put more editing onto the photography to make it more focused just on the clothes, I think
this would improve my project overall as I spent a lot of time editing my video and my t-shirt
whereas I didn’t spend as long editing my photos and I think that would appeal more to my
chosen age range.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I disagree with the feedback about doing a fade in and out as i think that would take the
fashion side of the video and make it into more of a viewing video with fade ins, my
audience voted for that they wanted my video to be under 1 minute and adding fade
outs would increase the time which means I wouldn’t have a lot of time for the actual
footage, however I found this constructive critism helpful.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
From my peer feedback I would put more time and effort into my
photography as my peers agreed that more editing would make the photos
and fashion videos better and more professional
I also might add some more editing to the video to make it longer and
more technically difficult. However I would not of increased the time of my
video as in my surveys my audience voted for it to be under 1 minute and
increasing the editing would make me have to decrease the amount of
footage.
