Audience Profile
The main audience for this magazine will
be the age range of 55+ and the younger
generation such as grandchildren because
of there elders. This is shown in the graph
provided by the rolling stone website about
the main audience profile and what is the
largest group of people that purchase this
magazine. The main gender shown from
this graph is males with the 61.7% of all
there purchases and only 38.3% being
females.
Existing Product
The location of this image seems to be in a
driveway or a patch of open ground. This image
has a good quality and has a good overview of
the this nice image of a living legend. The
colour scheme of the from cover and most of
the magazine seems to black and white and use
the most of the opposite colours. This works
well for the front cover and the double page
spread.
The reviews within the magazine are really
reliable and very approved because the rolling
stone magazine is very well known and seen as
a good and a informational piece of a read. The
reviews on the magazine show that the work is
detailed and is to a professional standard. This
helps the promotion of the artists or celebrities
on the front because the information is
reliable.
The font choice of this magazine varies but mostly stands out because of the white on black. This works very well because of the colour contrast.
I like that they use this because it draws eyes to the header and information that in most magazines cant be recognized as easy. I also like the
font on the double page spread of Paul McCartney because the text stands out as much as the image, this is because the whole double page
spread is in black and white. In my work I may use this black and white effect because after what I have seen it works well for the project. I will
also possibly use this because it is easy to do and can be very effective if used in the correct way. The image quality is too a great standard and
works very well for the work, this will be because of the company behind the magazine. The text to picture ratio is perfectly used within the front
cover because of the main image in the background with the text. On the other pages there is a lot of detailed information but also has some
needed images to make it more visually appealing.
The written code of this work is mostly more of a
relaxed and casual language, this works well
because it gives the reader a more of a relaxing
read and works very well for the magazine. The
symbolic code of this magazine in particular is
very significant, this is because it contains one of
the most famous artists of all time on the front.
This recognizable view of Paul McCartney draws
people towards the magazine.
This also makes people want to buy the magazine
and interested in the information and images if
they are a fan. This professional and visually
attractive view of this magazine draws people in
because it is neat and the main head of the rolling
stone magazine is iconic and draws the older
generation in because of reviews and how many
people still read this type of magazine.

Audience Profile
The main target audience for this magazine
is aimed towards the age range of 13-24
with a vast majority being females. This
type of magazine is aimed towards them
and is shown in the graph. There is a large
different is the gender split, the male
audience for Ed sheeran for this magazine
is far from equal and shows that males
come last from the demographics.
Existing Product
The main location for this image would be inside
a photography studio with a professional team
working on the production and the camera
work. I like this style of photography because it
seems relaxed and design seem a struggle. I also
like that the image and the text is in black and
white because it makes the image and the text
pop out. Especially the Ed sheeran main header.
the main reviews from the magazine are
professional but are not recognized from not
Russian speakers.
Even though this may be Russian I like that the
way the magazine works and that it helps me
with Russian reading and speaking. On the front
cover there isn’t any main adverts and not many
through out the magazine, the magazine is
mostly filled with information and images about
artists and mostly focuses onto ed sheeran.
The main colour scheme for this magazine is mostly aimed towards the colours of black and white on the main front cover. I like this because it
makes the text pop out but keeps that image dead center and fills most of the page. The font they use for his name ed sheeran seems more
personal rather than just careless. This big title stands out to me and draws my eye to the picture after the recognition of his name. This type
of writing style works very well and the sentence underneath “He left to return” draws people in because of his return and his popular fan
base. The text to image ratio works well though out the magazine and have a very even ration of text to pictures. The font choice has worked
well with the black and white and makes the text and image stand out compared to other magazines. Rather than some magazines where the
magazine name is behind the image of the celebrity, the name is to the left, this s because the company isn’t as well known as companies such
as rolling stone or XXL.
The main target audience for this magazine is
aimed towards the age range of 13-24 with a vast
majority being females. This magazine will
appeal to that audience because the major fans
of ed sheeran have wondered when ed would
have come back, since he had a bread and got
married to his wife without anyone hardly
knowing. This will also appeal to them because
he might have some information about his future
will his music and when he will started to
produce it again.
The written code of this work is mostly more of a
relaxed and casual language, this works well
because it gives the reader a more of a relaxing
read and works very well for the magazine. The
symbolic code of this magazine is mostly based
of the fact ed sheeran is very popular and are
interested in him and his music.

Audience Profile
The main audience for pentatonix is
around the age of 15-24 but does have
a variety, this is shown the graph to
the left hand side. The main gender for
this group is largely females but also
has a small population of males that
are fans. The population of the males
are around the same age range 15-24.
The main audience comes from there
YouTube channel called Pentatonix.
Existing Product
The photo of the main magazine image used
for the background image of the front cover
has been taken in a studio created by
professional photographers, I know this
because of the quality of the image and the
way it is took with the background colours of
the wall. The colour of the background makes
the people in front stand out more rather
than just having a simple black and white
background that will absorb most of the
picture quality and make it less colourful.
Within in the magazine there is a few pages
that contain some of advertisements these
adverts are based around the topic of their
discussion because of the music. The adverts
are selling instruments and other things like
that. The reviews of the magazine can vary
just because it isn’t a very popular magazine
with a very specific target audience.
The colour scheme has a variety of colours that are used, such as orange, red, black and some slight white. This colour combination works
very well for the magazine, this is because the colours work very well together from the different shades of some of the colours and the
good combination of the black and white opposites makes the title stand out equally to the image because of the image colour and shades.
The photography style of the image seems to be different to usual images for the front covers of magazines, this is because of the images of
the peoples faces. In the usual image for a magazine they usually face the camera to draw people in and give them more of a recognizable
image. The font style of the image seems to be bold and bright to draw peoples eyes into the header and footer. The font of the company
also draws the eyes because of the colour contrast.
The audience appeal of this magazine cover
will be mostly attracted from YouTube and
there large following. The audience will also
come from social medias such as Instagram
and Facebook also, this is because they have
a very large following on both of them. The
magazine would also be appealing to the
audience because of the popularity from
there music covers and there own music.
They have also been in films, such as pitch
perfect.
The written code of this work is mostly more
of a relaxed and casual language because
they are a chilled singers and are not really
in the public eye compared to singers such
as Ed sheeran and Beyoncé. The symbolic
code for this work will be that they have a
large fan base and very popular on YouTube.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products have?
One of the common features I have seen through my research of these magazines is that they have a good
amount of text to image ratio, I like this because it doesn’t make the magazine boring and filled with
information but gives a variety of what you want. I have also noticed that there is a large similarity with
the colour scheme.
What aspects of the research will you include within your on work?
I like the colour scheme used for the magazines and I like the black and white. This is good before it
makes the image pop out and the text to image ratio works perfect for the these magazines. This ratio
works very well and it perfect for the type of magazine I am aiming for.

  • 2. Existing Product Front cover Double Page Spread Audience Profile The main audience for this magazine will be the age range of 55+ and the younger generation such as grandchildren because of there elders. This is shown in the graph provided by the rolling stone website about the main audience profile and what is the largest group of people that purchase this magazine. The main gender shown from this graph is males with the 61.7% of all there purchases and only 38.3% being females.
  • 3. Existing Product The location of this image seems to be in a driveway or a patch of open ground. This image has a good quality and has a good overview of the this nice image of a living legend. The colour scheme of the from cover and most of the magazine seems to black and white and use the most of the opposite colours. This works well for the front cover and the double page spread. The reviews within the magazine are really reliable and very approved because the rolling stone magazine is very well known and seen as a good and a informational piece of a read. The reviews on the magazine show that the work is detailed and is to a professional standard. This helps the promotion of the artists or celebrities on the front because the information is reliable. The font choice of this magazine varies but mostly stands out because of the white on black. This works very well because of the colour contrast. I like that they use this because it draws eyes to the header and information that in most magazines cant be recognized as easy. I also like the font on the double page spread of Paul McCartney because the text stands out as much as the image, this is because the whole double page spread is in black and white. In my work I may use this black and white effect because after what I have seen it works well for the project. I will also possibly use this because it is easy to do and can be very effective if used in the correct way. The image quality is too a great standard and works very well for the work, this will be because of the company behind the magazine. The text to picture ratio is perfectly used within the front cover because of the main image in the background with the text. On the other pages there is a lot of detailed information but also has some needed images to make it more visually appealing. The written code of this work is mostly more of a relaxed and casual language, this works well because it gives the reader a more of a relaxing read and works very well for the magazine. The symbolic code of this magazine in particular is very significant, this is because it contains one of the most famous artists of all time on the front. This recognizable view of Paul McCartney draws people towards the magazine. This also makes people want to buy the magazine and interested in the information and images if they are a fan. This professional and visually attractive view of this magazine draws people in because it is neat and the main head of the rolling stone magazine is iconic and draws the older generation in because of reviews and how many people still read this type of magazine.
  • 4. Existing Product Front cover Double Page Spread Audience Profile The main target audience for this magazine is aimed towards the age range of 13-24 with a vast majority being females. This type of magazine is aimed towards them and is shown in the graph. There is a large different is the gender split, the male audience for Ed sheeran for this magazine is far from equal and shows that males come last from the demographics.
  • 5. Existing Product The main location for this image would be inside a photography studio with a professional team working on the production and the camera work. I like this style of photography because it seems relaxed and design seem a struggle. I also like that the image and the text is in black and white because it makes the image and the text pop out. Especially the Ed sheeran main header. the main reviews from the magazine are professional but are not recognized from not Russian speakers. Even though this may be Russian I like that the way the magazine works and that it helps me with Russian reading and speaking. On the front cover there isn’t any main adverts and not many through out the magazine, the magazine is mostly filled with information and images about artists and mostly focuses onto ed sheeran. The main colour scheme for this magazine is mostly aimed towards the colours of black and white on the main front cover. I like this because it makes the text pop out but keeps that image dead center and fills most of the page. The font they use for his name ed sheeran seems more personal rather than just careless. This big title stands out to me and draws my eye to the picture after the recognition of his name. This type of writing style works very well and the sentence underneath “He left to return” draws people in because of his return and his popular fan base. The text to image ratio works well though out the magazine and have a very even ration of text to pictures. The font choice has worked well with the black and white and makes the text and image stand out compared to other magazines. Rather than some magazines where the magazine name is behind the image of the celebrity, the name is to the left, this s because the company isn’t as well known as companies such as rolling stone or XXL. The main target audience for this magazine is aimed towards the age range of 13-24 with a vast majority being females. This magazine will appeal to that audience because the major fans of ed sheeran have wondered when ed would have come back, since he had a bread and got married to his wife without anyone hardly knowing. This will also appeal to them because he might have some information about his future will his music and when he will started to produce it again. The written code of this work is mostly more of a relaxed and casual language, this works well because it gives the reader a more of a relaxing read and works very well for the magazine. The symbolic code of this magazine is mostly based of the fact ed sheeran is very popular and are interested in him and his music.
  • 6. Existing Product Front cover Double Page Spread Audience Profile The main audience for pentatonix is around the age of 15-24 but does have a variety, this is shown the graph to the left hand side. The main gender for this group is largely females but also has a small population of males that are fans. The population of the males are around the same age range 15-24. The main audience comes from there YouTube channel called Pentatonix.
  • 7. Existing Product The photo of the main magazine image used for the background image of the front cover has been taken in a studio created by professional photographers, I know this because of the quality of the image and the way it is took with the background colours of the wall. The colour of the background makes the people in front stand out more rather than just having a simple black and white background that will absorb most of the picture quality and make it less colourful. Within in the magazine there is a few pages that contain some of advertisements these adverts are based around the topic of their discussion because of the music. The adverts are selling instruments and other things like that. The reviews of the magazine can vary just because it isn’t a very popular magazine with a very specific target audience. The colour scheme has a variety of colours that are used, such as orange, red, black and some slight white. This colour combination works very well for the magazine, this is because the colours work very well together from the different shades of some of the colours and the good combination of the black and white opposites makes the title stand out equally to the image because of the image colour and shades. The photography style of the image seems to be different to usual images for the front covers of magazines, this is because of the images of the peoples faces. In the usual image for a magazine they usually face the camera to draw people in and give them more of a recognizable image. The font style of the image seems to be bold and bright to draw peoples eyes into the header and footer. The font of the company also draws the eyes because of the colour contrast. The audience appeal of this magazine cover will be mostly attracted from YouTube and there large following. The audience will also come from social medias such as Instagram and Facebook also, this is because they have a very large following on both of them. The magazine would also be appealing to the audience because of the popularity from there music covers and there own music. They have also been in films, such as pitch perfect. The written code of this work is mostly more of a relaxed and casual language because they are a chilled singers and are not really in the public eye compared to singers such as Ed sheeran and Beyoncé. The symbolic code for this work will be that they have a large fan base and very popular on YouTube.
  • 8. Research Analysis • What common features do the researched products have? One of the common features I have seen through my research of these magazines is that they have a good amount of text to image ratio, I like this because it doesn’t make the magazine boring and filled with information but gives a variety of what you want. I have also noticed that there is a large similarity with the colour scheme. What aspects of the research will you include within your on work? I like the colour scheme used for the magazines and I like the black and white. This is good before it makes the image pop out and the text to image ratio works perfect for the these magazines. This ratio works very well and it perfect for the type of magazine I am aiming for.
