Research
• My researched helped me because I was able to get good ideas such as
font options and locations , advertisements and colour schemes to put on
my final magazine design when I made it. My researched allowed me to
view how other magazines went about putting together their designs .
• the weaknesses of my research were that I only focused on fishing
magazines to take ideas from , I feel like I could have got more varied ideas
by researching other topics of magazines as I could have taken something
useful from other topics.
Planning
• The strengths of my planning were that I did plenty of research and my experiment
gave me a good idea of what I roughly wanted. This helped my product by giving me
a kind of rough blue print to go off of when designing my final piece which I did .
• The weaknesses of my planning was that I did it relatively quickly to catch up with
the rest of the class so some bits were a little less detailed than other projects , this
affected my final product because I hadn’t fully planned as I had with other projevts
but I don’t think it made too much difference.
Time Management
• I did not manage my time well due to having to work from home and I did
not complete it in time , if I had more time to produce a better piece of
work I would have spent more time working on adding informational text
that had been further researched to be even more informative.
Technical Qualities
Both products
contain plugs
Large font
titles
Both
magazines
include the
location it is
taking place
Only mine contains a
picture of what you can
get from the plug
Aesthetic Qualities
I am happy with my work because I think I put it together well, I liked the colour schemes
and overall theme of it along with the use of pictures. I did like how creative it was, but to
improve next time I would use my own photos and add more detail onto each page to
make it look even more professional .
For my double page spread I would add more information with more text so that there is a
lot more for the reader to read through.
Audience Appeal
I have appealed to my target audience by including things my potential readers would be
interested in such as the large fishing image and text on the front cover that shows off
what the magazine is about and based on .
To target my audience of 16-25 year olds I have included less text to read but also added
more images to interest them more.
To target working class males I have included a plug to offer a chance of winning
something so that they may decide they want a chance to win.
