EVALUATION
Content
For all my content that I have used/involved in were my own personal photography skills and then me editing them with
Photoshop. I took a total of twelve photos over the period of production and only used seven of the twelve. This is due
to some of them not being that interesting or didn’t seem good enough for the standard I wanted. I took a certain amount
every week, so each week I worked on roughly three designs a week. The pictures I took were a variety of the café, food
and drink. Each time I came to a new design I wanted to have a different effect or style on each picture. This is because I
didn’t want any of my work to come off as repetitive and boring. With each picture I tried to focus on one certain area of
the picture and adapt it in some way to help elevate the image as a whole. For example with one image of just one part of
the café and only focused of the area where the door was along with the area around the door.
Here is the image that I have just described. Even though
this design is something different to what I would've
imagined myself to create. But it still made sense and is still
suitable for my client work. I say it is still suitable due to me
sticking with my original colour scheme with the red and
black effect with a slight hint of white within the darker
sections of the image. Like I mentioned before this was
something different and took way longer to produce then the
other designs. I really like how his design has come out and I
would say its one of my better designs. With this production,
I feel that I’ve started to become reliable on my own skills
and experience of the course. I say this because with some
of the images, I didn’t need to look up on YouTube for any
inspiration and came up with my designs. For the designs
that I came up with myself were in my opinion creative put
more leaning towards the simple side, but even though they
have that simple side they’re still effective.
Here is the one of the two images on the page where I just used my raw skills that I
have learnt and gathered. The first step in my thought process was how could
implement my chosen colour scheme into the image. So I noticed the tiled sealing and
the front of the counter with the individual squares. So I quick selected each one of the
tiles and placed them on separate layers. By doing this, it allowed me to give them
separate colours from my colour scheme. The end result I feel has given off a nice
effect and does work well helping the image come together. Even though what I had
done with the colouring of the tiles takes up a lot of the image, I still needed to add a
little more. So an obvious choice was to mess around wit the contrast of the image. By
doing this, it helped the image look better and helped the saturation become a lot more
satisfying to look at. To finish off the image I added one of the lens flairs for one of
the lights. By dong this it intensified to brightness just adding more to the image.
This picture to the right is the second image that I produced with my own original
ideas with no inspiration. Just like before, I looked at the base image and thought
how I could implement the style I wanted. The idea came up with was to just have
a variety of the name ‘Full English’, so this way I could easily stick to the colour
scheme. I personally actually really like how the idea came together and looks very
effect. I think the reason why I like it so much is because of how different the
design is. Even though its one of my favorite design I created there is a downside
of it being really simple and not that hard to achieve the final piece. The final
steps to finish the image were to again make the food as I would see it on a poster
or menu. To do that I individually selected each item of food and boosted the
contrast to give off those bright colours. Then to polish off everything I used the
clone stamp to make the food appealing everything expectations.
Research
My research was easy but at the same time wasn’t as straight
forward as I thought it would have been. I say this because I
actually work where my client work is for. This meant I could get
a head start in a way about what my boss wanted and even made
it easier showing my boss the progress and receiving the feedback
face to face. This also benefited me in knowing who comes to the
business, so having that knowledge helped me shape my target
audience. By working for my client previously for so long and
working in the café I have got the feel of what would work well
and what wouldn’t within the design side of the project.
The part of everything that wasn’t as straight forward as a hoped
and this is because there is such a wide range of customers that
enter the café during the full seven day week. Ranging from
mainly older people throughout the week then towards the end at
the weekend, there is a mass variety. The variety is from family's,
regulars and couples etc. So this made things confusing to just
focus on one certain area, so I had to try and make my products
appealing to everyone. This also gave me the option to gather a
lot of information to help with my task of trying please a wider
range of an audience. To say I had a chance to gather a wide
range of information I seemed to struggle to find the right
information relevant to my clients business. The screenshots
towards the left is the amount I managed to collect that was
relative information.
To help give me some more information to help with my process, I decided to create my
own survey just to see where people actually travel from to the café. I did this during a
shift at work and just asked customers if they didn’t mind taking part and I involved
some surrounding area other area in the postcode or just out the postcode. The results
were taken during a shift on a Saturday interesting.
Overall I felt this time round my research went better then most and I've learnt from my
improvements to search a bit deeper for information which will benefit me in everyway.
The more research I do the better chance that my final products will come out better. I
felt like I got enough relative information this time round but could possibly try push
myself further.
Time Management
Just like like normal I feel that my time
management was fine and had everything
planned perfectly. I managed to stick to the
schedule that I created and completed everything
on there. With some things I was a bit lenient
and left out due to not getting round to it. For
example I’ve posted the finished images but
didn’t add in a that much of a description and
hadn't placed any hash tags. So for now the
account hasn’t been advertised but I will
eventually get around to doing it properly. Also I
need to create or advance the image I have
placed as the profile picture. Also I don’t want to
say that I've rushed my work because I did work
hard throughout the production stage, getting on
with my work. Because of my focus on time
management, I was benefited with a week spare
of production. By finishing production a week
early I gave myself more time for this, my evaluation. Being focused like this and managing my time well puts less pressure on
me to complete work and allows me to complete my work at a high standard. The only way I can say to help improve my time
management is to make sure that I complete everything that I mention on my production schedule. Other then that I don’t
know what else to improve on because through out my time on the course I have been consistently good at dealing with my
time management and that’s why I think my work has stayed at a decent level.
Peer feedback
1. Do you think that I've really stretched my knowledge and produced a decent standard of
for my client this far into the year?
Yes I do, I feel as if you are able to produce aesthetically pleasing products with professional
qualities that anyclients would pay for. You have obviously progressed in your Photoshop
skills and have clearly learnt more techniques that will help in years to come.
2. I stuck to what my clients requests were but do you think I could have offered productions
ideas to broaden my work?
I think there can always be more ideas to be looked at but you have given them a wide range
of interesting and visually well made products. +10 good bois
3. Looking at my work is there any improvement or suggestions you would like to say for the
next project?
I think you could potentially have made more versions of the full english to explore the
potential techniques available.

1. Do you think that I've really stretched my knowledge and produced a decent standard of for
my client this far into the year?
I feel you have created some high quality pieces for your client, especially the full english image.
It is clear that you have improved your Photoshop skills since the start of the course.
2. I stuck to what my clients requests were but do you think I could have offered
productions ideas to broaden my work?
There is always more you could add to your work such as a menu and more promotional images
however the work you have produced shows a range of skills in both Photoshop and
photography
3. Looking at my work is there any improvement or suggestions you would like to say for
the next project?
I feel like you could have explored the full english design as I feel there is more you could
explore with this design
1. Do you think that I've really stretched my knowledge and produced a decent standard of for my
client this far into the year?
Yes I think it is a show of everything that has been worked on this year as all the techniques used
in the different, this is through there being a lot of different techniques used and variation in all
the designs.
2. I stuck to what my clients requests were but do you think I could have offered
productions ideas to broaden my work?
Maybe adding some of your own things as well as the clients requests could have thought of your
own ideas just to add to the kind of work and maybe make something more to your own strengths
rather than what the client just requested.
3. Looking at my work is there any improvement or suggestions you would like to say for the next
project?
Some of the editing could be slightly sharper on the colours and imagery, just taking a little more
time to go over little features just to make everything look more sharp.
Feedback Summary
For my first question, the three different peers responded roughly with the same responses all
agreeing that they thought I had gained some decent skills and I had delivered a very good
standard of work. Asking questions like this is good because it gives me some good honest
feedback and gives myself a self confidence boost going into my next set of work.
Again with my second question there was a mutual agreement in what each of them said. They
all replied with suggestions of that there is always more products I could have made and due to
having a week left I could've approached my client with suggestions and by doing that would
automatically improve my work. Also each peer suggested this because they believed there's
always more work do it.
For my third and final question, two of the peers seemed to like my full English design and
wanted me as a suggestions to maybe explore the design more to help push it to its peak. Even
though they liked the design they suggested just maybe looking for skills or designs to maybe to
finsih off such a successeful piece. But with one of the peers suggested maybe taking the time to
make my edits cleaner, taking more time to perfect the images to make them look a lot cleaner
on the eye.
Overall I think Im happy with the feedback I've received from my peers I think they gave me
some honest responses that will help me in the long run. I also agree with what they have said
and commented.
Client
WIth my client work, I persoanally think that in my own styled
way I have kept to what my client wanted. My client asked for
an instagram page for the café due to her facebook page
becoming a bit dead and not being updated as much as it used
to. So that is what my client requested and that’s what I set out
to achieve. Granted if you think about it, this task wouldn’t be
very challenging due to how easy it is to just create an account
for free and how easy it is to set up. Along with me just taking
photos then uploading them to instagram isnt very challenging
or shwoing off my skills which would lead to me not getting a
grade. So I mentioned this later on to my client and explained
how I will have to use photoshop to edit so I could show off
my skills that I have learnt to further the images. By doing this,
it gives me a chance to try something different from an
advertisment point of view, editing the pictures and altering
them which may benfit in getting the publics attention. So
once I told my cleint and informed her on the situatuon, she
was ok with it and was excited to see what I was going to
come up with.
I have kept along the lines of what content I have involved
after me giving ideas of what I could do and we both dicussed
what she wanted. The discussion came to an end and my boss
was focused on images involving the café, just showing off her
business. So I had freedom of what photography I could do,
such as different products and angles to get a good variety of
work. By doing this, I gave myself a better chance of getting
better images that appealed more to my client.
Once I had finished my work, I showed a few of my co workers
before showing my client just to get some more feedback. By doing
this it gives me more view points and opinions on how I can either
add or improve stuff to my work for future projects. The feedback
was mainly positive from my co workers answers and they seemed
pleasantly surprised at my final products. The comments were along
the lines of them enjoying what I had created. But on the other
hand some of the fewer co working didn’t really have an opinion,
which basically means they didn’t think much of it but I still got
some nice feedback and tips that could possibly help. I guess for
some of the feedback would be reliable due to some of my co
workers because they studied media in the past as well as art so for
the design side of things they were helpful. After that, it was finally
time to show my boss/client. Her first impressions were again just
like my co workers happily surprised at what I presented. She
mentioned how she liked how creative I got with my designs and
commented on how she really didn’t know what to expect. After a
good few viewings of my images, my client had her favourites and
her not so favourites. My boss really liked the idea towards what I
was going for with my full English images and with the other image
of my co worker on drinks. With some of the other designs she felt
I may have gone a bit too far with creativity for her and took the
focus off the café a bit and only focused on my designs themselves.
Which is a bit hard due to me needing to get a good mark for my
showing off my skills with photoshop etc. But we both agreed that
there is always time in the future to improve and alter things the way
she would like them.
I personally think this has been another successful project. From the beginning till end, I've
stayed at a constant hard work rate and I completed all my work on time with time to spare. I
have kept a consistence high level of work throughout this project and I also feel that I have
improved in areas that I needed to improve in such as gathering research and really working on
my planning. But like always my work is never perfect with no mistakes and from what I've
noticed I can begin on working on them for my FMP. But I'm sure I will have missed out on
some improvements, so I'm eager to see what feedback I may receive. I'm happy with the
products that I created and I personally feel that its some of my best work yet. Like I've
mentioned before and received feedback on the matter, I could have tried to offer or create even
more products but that’s something I can consider next time.
