This document outlines the graphical method for determining the motion of a follower using a cam with uniform velocity. In the mechanics of machines lab, an external geneva mechanism was designed in CAD software creo parametric 7.0.0.0 and then a mechanism analysis was run at constant speed to see the behaviour of the mechanism during motion. Several graphs were obtained to confirm its motion pattern.
The analytical design was also studied and presented in the mini-project.
The working of the process is fully electric operated where the current is the working medium. When the shaft is connected at the motor end. At the shaft end is fitted to the bevel gear. That horizontal rotation is changed to vertical rotation by the use of bevel gear. That bevel gear is connected to the shaft. The shaft end is fitted to the disk and crank is connected at the center of the disk. Then connecting rod is joined the crank end by using crank pin. When the disk rotates if the connecting rod is moved at the reciprocal. End of the connecting rod is attached to the rod bending tool. When the work piece on the worktable at the support of work dies. The bending tool is moved to forward direction in reciprocal and strikes the workpiece. So that tool bends the rod into required U shape. Similarly, V-type and L-type are possible.
