Essay about Honored Irish Immigrants
For many people, the American dreams and promises brought ideas and new hopes of a better life. For
the Irish, the American dreams and promises weren t just ideas and hopes, they were the way to a new
beginning in America, a way to start over and forget the horrifying past they encountered. The Irish
struggled day after day to pay for fair travel to America. To many people, the challenge the Irish
overcame seemed to deserve praise. Today, the Irish are honored and commemorated for their hard
work and desire for a better life.
The start of the Irish peoples struggles began when the British came and destroyed their way of life.
The Penal laws of 1691 stripped Irish Catholics of their freedoms by taking away their rights to

People worried about the potato crop. At first, the potatos seemed fine, but after further examination
the potatos were rotten. In October of 1845, Britain s Prime Minister, Sir Robert Peel, established a
scientific commission to discover over half of Irelands potatos had been ruined by wet rot. The potato
crop failed time and time again. Irish people began to lose hope in receiving better living conditions,
but the shipping lanes opened to America after they had been closed by the war (Philip). Irish began to
think of the American dream and promise.
The American dream and promise changes a nations state of mind. It originally comes from the
Declaration of Independence. The promise is all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their
Creator with certain unalienable Rights. The dream: Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. All of
which were things the Irish desired (Pendry).
According to Philips, between 1815 and 1816, around 20,000 Irish traveled to the Americas. These
emigrants were mostly professionals and shopkeepers, because farmers couldn t afford travel. Over
the next two decades shipping fees continued to have outrageous prices, but between 1823 and 1825
more people, such as the merchants and farmers, were able to travel because free passage and land
grants were allowed to Catholics. The largest emigration was in 1827 when nearly 400,000 Irish
traveled to the Americas on Coffin Ships; overcrowded ships filled

Descriptive Essay About A Jacket
I threw my books on my bed and approached the jacket as if I knew what was inside the christmas
present and it wasn t what i wanted. I looked at the jacket, i wanted to hurl. I touched the sleeve and
peaked inside at the brownish yellow lining.
My mom s voice echoed from the kitchen to my room.
Your jacket is in th
So I opened my closet door slowly waiting for someone to jump out and scare me, praying to the lord
that there was another jacket in the closet. YES!!!! I had to have the best mother on earth! They re
hanging right in front of me hung the perfect jacket. Smooth jet black leather. Perfect black lining. I
put the jacket on like I was one of those cool biker people in those old movies. Slipped on the jacket
and puffed up the collar, looked at my profile multiple times like i was posing or a picture on a
runway. Fixed up my hair to see what i would look like if I was doing something normal. Leaned up
against my wall, and the bedpost. I looked so awesome!!
I ran down the stairs so fast to reach my mom before she was too busy cooking dinner, i wrapped my
arms around her waist, so tight, like a belt that was a little too small. My mom jumped as a shouted for
the whole world to hear.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, so much!
She tried to hug me with a wooden spoon and her glasses fogged up from the steam coming from the
stove, but i was behind her so it was difficult. She chuckled at how happy I was.
Your welcome. she replied still laughing as she turned

America Needs Censorship Essay
Being frustrated is disagreeable, but the real disasters in life begin when you get what you want. For
almost a century now, a great many intelligent, well meaning and articulate people have argued
eloquently against any kind of censorship of art and entertainment. Within the past twenty years,
courts and legislatures have found these arguments so persuasive that censorship is now a relative
rarity in most states.
Is there triumphant exhilaration in the land? Hardly. Somehow, things have not worked out as they
were supposed to, and many civil libertarians have said this was not what they meant. They wanted a
world in which Eugene O Neill s Desire under the Elms could be produced, or James Joyce s Ulysses
published, without interference. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That those who certainly know this are moved to deny it merely indicates how a dogmatic resistance
to the idea of censorship can result in a mindless insistence on the absurd.
For the plain fact is that we all believe that there is a point at which the public authorities ought to step
in to limit the self expression of an individual or a group. A theatrical director might find someone
willing to commit suicide on the stage. We would not allow that. And I know of no one who argues
that we ought to permit public gladiatorial contests, even between consenting adults.
No society can be utterly indifferent to the ways its citizens publicly entertain themselves. Bearbaiting
and cockfighting are prohibited only in part out of compassion for the animals; the main reason is that
such spectacles, were felt to debase and brutalize the citizenry who flocked to witness them. The
question with regard to pornography and obscenity is whether they will brutalize and debase our
citizenry. We are, after all, not dealing with one book or one movie. We are dealing with a general
tendency that is suffusing our entire culture.
Pornography s whole purpose, it seems to me, is to treat human beings obscenely, to deprive them of
their specifically human dimension. Imagine a well known man in a hospital ward, dying an agonizing
death. His bladder and bowels empty themselves of their own accord. His consciousness is

Conflict Management Styles Among Corporate Executives
Choosing a topic and problem for a signature assignment which is very close to a research topic could
be a hurdle. It requires good literature review which is derived by tapping and evaluating previous
researchers efforts and expertise. A potential research study on Conflict Management Styles among
Corporate Executives in Developing Countries Nigeria a Case Study is considered for a signature
assignment. Conflict is inevitable and exists everywhere. In organizational system, conflict and
methods of conflict management influences different groups (employees, management team and
executives). Conflicts are realities of life and can be defined as a situation of competition in which the
parties involved are quite aware of the incompatibility of future condition whereby each party wishes
to occupy a position that is incompatible with the wishes of the other (Olu Adesubomi, 2013, p. 2).
They have no boundaries. They occur whether we like it or not, especially when there is disagreement
and misunderstanding which stands as major key characteristics of human relationships. The
relationship could be domestic, national, or international (Spiroska, 2014). Furthermore, conflicts
happen when people are incompatible. In the organizational setting, conflict could arise due to failure
of the employer, not honoring certain agreed bargaining. Henry (2009) indicated that if the workers
right and prerogative is not appropriated rightly, it could cause conflict; such workers

Advantages of the Toyota Hybrid Electric Vehicles Over the...
INTRODUCTION
The growing dependence of many countries, especially the USA and Europe on the imported oil and
the daily increase of oil price and the heightened concern on the global warming and the
environmental pollutions which has forced many car manufacturing companies to study the new and
innovative techniques in solving this very important issue.
Toyota as the world s third car manufacturing company and the first in Japan has introduced a new era
in the vehicles history.
Initial hydrogen, fuel cell and pure electric vehicles were not much successful as they were all very
expensive and not very efficient. The true electric vehicles did not have the required standards of an
American car buyer because they cost a lot, around US$ ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
CONVINCING CONSUMERS:
The main issue on Hybrid vehicles was that most of consumers did not believe it as a real car.
Overtime, Toyota succeeded to convince the automobile buyers that Toyota Prius is a real, usable and
efficient hybrid car.
DRIVING RESPONSIBILITY.
Toyota Prius has been equipped with a monitoring system which helps the driver to know how to run
his/her car to have a better function and reduce the fuel usage and save more energy. This helps the
driver to feel responsible on his/her driving and to maximize the car fuel efficiency.
LONG TERM PLAN BEFORE LAUNCHING THE PRODUCT:
Although Toyota invented this new hybrid vehicle more than ten years ago, it did not offer the car to
the USA consumers immediately. The main reason was that Toyota was aware of the new technology
challenges. While Toyota was on the market research and new product development, other companies
were focusing on merger and acquisition. Brand recognition, technology changes and improvement
take several years to finish and Toyota wanted to launch a product which has cleared all the possible
obstacles such as space, efficiency, speed, safety, weight which can meet all consumers expectations.
MAINTAINS ITS COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES OVER COMPETITORS
The introduction of Toyota Prius was not just a short term goal. Toyota had much broader goals.

Tropical Rainforest Research
The World Wildlife Fund stated that Australia contains fragments of tropical forests that 15 million
years ago may have spanned both Australia and Antarctica. The scattered rainforests contain elements
characteristic of all forest categories. The result is a variety of plant communities that are extremely
diverse. Throughout the forest over 700 species of plants and animals can be discovered (Queensland
Tropical Forests, 2015).In the article, Recruitment dynamics of invasive species in rainforest habitats

destruction of Australian tropical forests. Nevertheless, it seems that large scale and occasional
instabilities like cyclones, have a bigger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They work in the same way as deforestation does; cyclones have a major effect on canopy disruption,
such as the removal of most leaves, and exposing of the understory to light (Metcalfe, D. J., Lawson,
T. J. 2015) Most experiments have looked at the effect of small scale disruptions on tropical forest
biodiversity. Nevertheless, it seems that large scale disturbances, like cyclones, have a huge influence
on tropical forest organization. Openings in the tropical forests upper story is caused by these
disturbances; allowing seeds of invasive plants to grow with very little competition. Quick growth of
the invasive plants compared to the native species, leads to the long term changes in the biodiversity
that can be found in the forest. Not only do cyclones have the ability to do this but also strong winds
when they damage the trees, and expose the lower vegetation to extreme light. Invasive species can
change how a forest regrows after being damaged, because they invade the spaces and steal resources
from the natives, who may not be so resistant to the light and heat. The invasive vegetation ends up
flooding the forest and destroying the biodiversity that once populated the area. In Queensland, at least
200 once invasive species have now naturalized into the tropical

Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Pros And Cons
The Israeli Palestinian conflict has been a tragedy, a clash between one very powerful, very
convincing, very painful claim over this land and another no less powerful, no less convincing claim,
(Oz, Amos). This conflict has been one that has lasted multiple decades and continues to be a hotbed
for controversial opinions and arguments. One pressing issue in today s time is whether or not the
United States should continue to support what seems like a never ending conflict. The United States
Government should continue to pressure Israel into a two state solution in order to reap the benefits,
which include the creation of democratic nations in the Middle East, improved relations with
bordering countries, and a decrease in violence.
America ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the world becomes more industrialized and interdependent, the need for good relations in areas
increases, especially with countries near Israel. The Middle East is becoming a more prominent player
in global relations today, making their alliance extremely valuable to those who have it. The United
States relationship with countries in the Middle East is a pressing topic as terrorism in this region
grows. By pressuring Israel into creating two states, the United States can help decrease the hostile
relations between them and countries Palestine is allied with, which include Iran, Iraq, and
Afghanistan among many other arab nations. According to Chas W. Freeman of the Middle East
Policy Council, our main conflict with the arab states stems from our alliance and support of Israel
while they continue to oppress Palestinians. Thus, two states would lead to a relaxation in these
relations. As discussed in the paragraph above, two states would also lead to the creation of the first
two democracies in the Middle East. Through shared political views, relations in the area will improve
as well. Therefore, the pressure of the United States to create two states will boost relations with
countries in the Middle East, which is vital in today s

The Stages Of Group Development
Stages of group development have been defined as forming, storming, norming, performing, and
adjourning (Tuckman, 1965, 1977). This widely accepted model serves as the basis for my exploration
into the dynamics of group development. This paper will also look at the potential conflicts that
groups may encounter for the first three stages as well as the possible actions and approaches to
resolve the conflict. In the first stage, the Forming stage, personal relationships are being built.
Members might rely on behavior that is safe, looking to the group leader for guidance and direction.
The forming stage takes place when the group first meets each other. In this first meeting, group
members are introduced to each other. They share information about their backgrounds, experience,
information and form first opinions of each other. They learn about what the group s goals are, or what
they will be working on. During this period it is important to establish a leader who will provide
direction regarding the group goals. This leader should keep others on task as well as keep members
involved to determine group roles. Some common conflicts that can arise at this stage include issues
with the tone that may be used by leaders. If leaders set an exclusive tone, others might follow leading
to the exclusion of other members. When leaders form opinions that are baseless or otherwise without
merit at this stage, the effects on those targeted can be difficult to overcome. One of the best ways

Tarrega The Black Death Analysis
In the text The Black Death and its Consequences for the Jewish Community in Tarrega, the authors
note that the discovery of communal burial sites in Tarrega (ca. 2007) now provides archeological
evidence for the documentary records of the mass murder of Jews in July, 1348. Long before the
discovery of the six communal grave sites, testimonies such as that of Hayyim Galipapa (1310 1380)
have provided textual records for the mass killing of Jews during the spread of the plague. The authors
argue that a consequence of the plague epidemic was the increase attacks on social minorities, Jews in
particular stood out as a powerful minority group which many of these attacks focused around. As
such, the Jewish community suffered disproportionately

Statement For Sop For Electronics
Today, the world is dominated by the field of electronics. Innovative ideas are coming into existence
in our day to day life. Electronics plays a key role in the organization of any system under
consideration. This trait of electronics extends into a broader scope. Thus, pursuing a career in the
electronics field is my goal. Thus, Masters in Electrical Engineering with Electronics as the major is
an apt choice to reach my goal.
My interest in Electronics sprouted from my childhood days. When I was five, I always had the habit
of breaking remote cars and planes, and explore what is actually present inside. Governing the
operations of the car or television by a remote from a distance was an enigmatic concept to visualize
at that stage. So, what actually constitutes the design of the remote was a question that always been
pondering my mind. It is the small electronic design that controls the entire operation. Thus this habit
went on up to the extent that , I developed the hobby of breaking all the worn out gadgets and goods
such as laptop chargers, cell phones etc. and have a collection of electronic design present in those
gadgets.
In my high school, my physics teacher realised my interest and influenced me in taking a Bachelor

zeros Then I asked yes but what comes before the 1? Kaedon replies an S with a cross sign and then
comes up and draws the $ symbol. I used these questions to teach my students a new concept instead
of just giving them the answers. Students go to learn from their peers. In order to support literacy in
my lesson, I had the students read the dollars to make sure they were using the correct dollar bills. I
was teaching them that reading allows for use to not get confused or mixed up by the five dollar bills
with the one dollar bill. In my part 2 video of my lesson around 10:21, the students are trying to get to
$20.89. The group up front attempts by using ones which confuses them. I say that s two dollars and
one of the student response by saying five dollar because they have just read that off the five dollar
bill. This allowed for them to develop that literacy connection so that can use reading skills when they
are confused.
Response Required: Interacting with the Students
Throughout my lesson, the students will asked to gather the correct amount of coins to get the correct
amount of money. If their group can accomplish their goal, then they will receive a point. In order to

Barbie vs. Bratz Essay
BADM 372: Advertising
Case 2: Barbie vs. Bratz 1. Provide an analysis of the Mattel Barbie brand. What factors shape
perceptions of the brand in the eyes of parents and young girls? Barbie was billed as a shapely teenage
fashion model, and made her first appearance at the American Toy Fair in New York City and soon
became a hit. (http://www.brandchannel.com/features_profile.asp?pr_id=160) Barbie was then and

Now a days everyone has some sort of social media page including the younger generations, however
anyone under the age of 18 has to lie on their page because it s not meant for kids. Because of the
expanding popularity of social media I believe that kids are growing up faster than they need to. When
I was younger I was still playing with my Barbie dolls into 8th grade so around 13/14 years old. My
cousin has a 13 year old daughter to constantly posts on facebook how she is going to be alone forever
and that she will never meet a good guy. At 13 years old she should not be concerned about boys,
especially not finding the one she is going to spend the rest of her life with!
This all being said I think that the popularity of social media is taking away from young girls being
young which is causing them to stray away from childhood toys like Barbies and Bratz. Also with the
popularity of an internet meme taking the Barbie and Bratz image and suggesting things in a mature
manner causes people to look at them in a manner aside from being a child s play thing. 4. Do you
think the efforts made by Richard Dickson were the most effective ways to restore the brand? Defend
your answer. I think Richard Dickson did a great job of restoring the brand just based on the 18%
increase in sales in 2009. I love the fact that he mandated that all Barbie products be consistent with
the brand s identity because then when

Lavon Julian
Dr. Percy Lavon Julian was a spearheading chemist whose findings enhanced the field of science and
saved many lives. A grandson of a slave, Julian grew up facing a lot of obstacles because of his skin
color (Drew, 1950). African Americans during his time faced a lot of challenges like racism. Julian
rose above this racism and turned out to be among the most influential scientists of the 20th century
and a leader of civil and business rights.
Percy Lavon Julian was born in the year1989. Julian was lucky as his parents were educated and had
an appreciation for education which was not the case for most black Americans. Although his parents
had a great appreciation for education, Julian attended a segregated elementary school. There was no
public high school for black individuals like Lavon. Hence, he had no option but to enroll in a teacher
training school for blacks (Drew, 1950).
In 1916, Julian enrolled at DePauw University having a tenth grade education barely. On his first day

Empowerment Is The Decision Making Process Essay
Introduction The empowerment in query can describe to the employees, the front line managers and

around unitary eloquence for integrating the interests and efforts of both employers and employees

organizational researchers have attached concept of empowerment in the workplace. Even, until at

Analysis Of Jia Chien s Influence On The International...
Jia Chien is the middle daughter who is ambitious in advancing her career as a corporate airline
executive, having little time for her family and desiring to quickly move out of the house. Jia Chien s
position shows how women in modern Taiwan occupy jobs in essentially all job markets, yet the fact
that she is an executive contrasts even the modern woman gender role where women do not typically
own managerial positions (Gold 1114). Additionally, the Taiwanese airline she works for is expanding
into new countries by acquiring new airline routes in the international market (Dilley 48) which
compares to how Taiwan desired to globalize through markets such as the United States. However the
same statement diverges from the notion that western nations are the dominant forces in globalization
and instead, the Taiwanese are now the perpetrators of globalization, exerting its own influence on the
international market. It is then revealed that Jia Chien originally wanted to pursue the culinary arts,
actually having much talent for cooking, but in the past her father Mr. Chu forbade her from becoming
a chef and even from being in the kitchen. Mr. Chu s reasoning is that Jia Chien should have a better
life with a university education than him, leading to Jia Chien s bitterness to her father and
complicating their relationship. Mr. Chu s seemingly oppressive behavior symbolizes Taiwan s
traditional family values as he has power over his daughter and dictates what she can or cannot do.

Legal Positivism Over Natural Law Theory
Introduction This article discusses the conceptions of legal normativity, both moral and strictly legal
conceptions. According to Spaak, regarding the normative force of legal justification, legal positivists
can still embrace the moral idea and not be in conflict with their generally held belief in the strictly
legal concept of law. In Torben Spaak s opinion, there is a reason to desire legal positivism; he
explains this through introducing the concept of jurisprudence. When discussing the nature of law,
Spaak states, that while the moral conception is what is likely favored on a smaller scale, the strictly
legal conception is more appealing because it is broader, (478). Spaak is arguing, his belief that
validity based explanations come nearer to the truth, (483) rather than belief based explanations. He
concludes that we are to prefer legal positivism over natural law theory. That is why in this article I
have been concerned with the law itself rather than our views about it. (483) Spaak actually states that
his focus has been exclusively on the law rather than people s opinions of the law. He does not appear
to be consistent in this focus. Rather, he fluctuates many times between agreeing and disagreeing with
whether morals have a base in law itself or in just the application or theory of law.
Summary I agree mostly with what Ronald Dworkin is quoted as stating in this article. His opinion of
the moral conception of law s normativity (479) is what

Profit Maximization Model
SAMPLE ANSWER FOR QUESTION 5
Profit making is one of the most traditional, basic and major objectives of a firm. Profit motive is the
driving force behind all business activities of a company. It is the primary measure of success or
failure of a firm in the market. Profit earning capacity indicates the position, performance and status of
a firm in the market. In spite of several changes and development of several alternative objectives,
profit maximization has remained as one of the single most important objectives of the firm even
today.
Both small and large firms consistently make an attempt to maximize their profit by adopting novel
techniques in business. Specific efforts have been made to maximize output and minimize production

They are as follows
1. Profit maximization is the main goal of the firm.
2. Rational behavior on the part of the firm to achieve its goal of profit maximization.
3. The firm is managed by owner entrepreneur.
Determination of profit maximizing price and output
Profit maximization of a firm can be explained in two different ways.
· Total Revenue and Total Cost approach.
· Marginal Revenue and Marginal Cost approach.
Profits of a firm are estimated by making comparison between total revenue and total costs. Profit is
the difference between TR and TC. In other words, excess of revenue over costs is the profits. Profit =
TR TC. If TR is equal to TC in that case, there will be break even point. If TR is less than TC, in that
case, a firm will be incurring losses. In this case, we take in to account of total cost and total revenue
of the firm while measuring profits.
It is clear from the following diagram how profit arises when TR is greater than that of TC.
2. MR and MC approach
In this case, we take in to account of revenue earned from one unit and cost incurred to produce only
one unit of output. A firm will be maximizing its profits when MR= MC and MC curve cuts MR curve
from below. If MC curve cuts MR curve from above either under perfect market or under imperfect
market, no doubt MR equals MC but total output will not be maximized and hence total profits also
will not be maximized. Hence, two conditions are

Fractionalization and the municipal bond market

(First version April 2010. Current draft June 2011. Comments welcome.)
Abstract
We study the impact of ethnic and religious fractionalization on the U.S. municipal debt market, and
find that issuers from more ethnically and religiously fractionalized counties pay higher yields on their
municipal debt. A two standard deviation increase in religious fractionalization is associated with a six
basis point increase in bond yields, and a two standard deviation increase in ethnic fractionalization is
associated with a ten basis point increase. To provide a scale for these results, a four notch rating
change, from AAA to AA , is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Study, a survey of the major religious denominations conducted by the Association of
Statisticians of American Religious Bodies.2 In this context, fractionalization represents the
probability that two randomly selected members of a group will share a particular attribute. For
example, in a society that is half white and half Hispanic, the ethnic fractionalization measure would
be 0.5; there would be a 50 percent chance that any two randomly selected people would be of the
same ethnicity. Fractionalization is the most common measure used to capture the extent to which a
particular society is divided across a particular characteristic.
We focus on ethnic and religious fractionalization because these characteristics are both salient and
relatively fixed. Wealth, income, and education are not directly observable, and like age they vary
mechanically over the life cycle. Ethnic and religious affiliations are generally more static. These
measures capture the underlying concept that we focus on, namely the strength of social ties across
citizens and between citizens and officials in a local area.
We find evidence that municipal issuers in religiously fractionalized counties pay more to borrow than
those in other counties. The point estimates suggest

Toyot The Car Company
Toyoda and Honda are both automobile giants in the world. As everyone knows, Toyota is Japan s
No.1 car company, and Honda is the second car company in Japan. Toyota was founded by Kiichiro
Toyoda in 1937 in Japan, two years after he built his first car. The company began to produce cars,
trucks, vans and SUVs, expanding rapidly through the years. One of Toyota s notable achievements
was the creation of the high end luxury brand, Lexus. Its rival, Honda, came a few years later. Soichiro
Honda first established the Honda Technical Research Institute in 1946 to develop and produce
motorbike engines. In 1948, Honda Motor Company was founded. Honda then joined forces with

The Books Persepolis By Marjane Satrapi
The books Persepolis, by Marjane Satrapi, as well as First They Killed My Father, by Loung Ung,
share many similarities throughout their exploration into children s experiences during wartime. For
instance, the identities and emotions of the main characters, Marji and Loung, are often strongly
influenced by the clothing that they are forced to wear. In Marji s case, it s the hijab Islamic veil which
all women are forced to wear after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. In Loung s, it s the black pajamas that
she and her family are forced to wear while they are prisoners in Ro Leap, Cambodia. Marji is first
introduced to the veil in a way that would be confusing to many children her age. From a child s
perspective, the requirement for all women to suddenly have to wear this additional piece of black
clothing came very suddenly and unexpectedly. The veil is used throughout the story to cover women
s bodies, as well as eventually to cover their own sense of self. The veil in Persepolis becomes a
symbol to describe the Iranian oppression of women when they are in the presence of adult men
outside of their family. Not all women are against the idea of the veil, but many are against the
concept of being forced to wear it by law. In no time, the way people dressed became an ideological
sign. There were two kinds of women. The Fundamentalist Woman. The Modern Woman. You showed
your opposition to the regime by letting a few strands of hair show (Satrapi 75). Soon, Marji rebels in

The Impact Of Divorce On Family
Introduction
The words from the Bible, therefore, what God has joined together, let no man separate have been
habitually used during weddings throughout history. Stepping into the 21st century, those words have
not been faithfully lived up to, evident through the numerous counts of divorces in society. Divorce
can be defined as the legal dissolution of a marriage by a court order and in this generation, is seen as
the norm. Apart from race, other major predictors of divorce include age at marriage, education,
premarital births and religion. (Bartolic, Martin, White, 2013). Divorce often tends to be thought of in
a monolithic way, as if everyone who gets a divorce goes through the same process. The impact of
divorce on the well being of children have been notoriously viewed with a negative lens for many
years due to possible risk factors that may affect children and their upbringing as they navigate
through life as their parents separate. However, families have the ability to strengthen and bounce
back even stronger with more knowledge through these experiences. This paper thoroughly discusses
the impacts of divorce and its effects on family structure and the ways in which families can
collectively work together to overcome crises and be resilient. This includes the many protective
factors that help families overcome their challenges and adversities such as positive social
interactions, personal protective factors, and belief systems in which all of these aspects encompass

Essay on Homeschooling
Homeschooling
The definition of homeschooling is to instruct a pupil in an educational program outside of established
schools (www.Dictionary.com).
Homeschooling is a good alternative to public schools because of certain religious issues, standardized
test success, and variety of options for homeschool students, but in some states homeschoolers are
having trouble with the school system.
Homeschooling has been on the rise in the United States and its popularity continues to grow among
American families. According to the U.S Department of Education, in 2003 there were 1.1 million
children in grades K thru 12 being homeschooled . The 3 most popular reasons for homeschooling are
concerns about the environment of other schools, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the problems with public schools are that children who go there with certain beliefs and
customs that they participate in at home that they cannot do at school.
Many citizens in states such as Pennsylvania are having issues with school systems making
regulations on homeschooling that are not allowed (Doherty, Brian). One of the main arguments that
parents are using deals with the Religious Freedom Protection act. This act states that state agencies
may not compel conduct or expression which violates a specific tenet of a person s religious faith. It
also argues that nowhere in religious scripture is authority for education given over to government.
Not only are parents saying that the Bible directly calls them out to educate their own children, but
that it is the choice of the parents. Although there are many people choosing this method of education
because of religious reasons, many parents who are not religious are choosing homeschooling because
of the opportunities it opens up for their children and them. Many parents choose it because they
believe that personal learning will be better for their children and there are so many products on the
market today that it has been simple to be homeschooled (Kiesling, Angie).
Homeschooling is also advantageous to students is because of the variety of options that are available.
One of these options deals with the curriculums that are available. Unlike public schools,

After he completed his alcohol treatment, his son Billy died on March 12, he was thirty six years old.
He had trouble with his heart. That brought Mickey back to drinking.
Mickey Jr. also died of liver cancer on December 20, 2000, at age 47. Danny would later battle

Jane Eyre is practically a reflection of Charlotte Bronte s life from start to finish. In Charlotte Brontes
early childhood she lost her mother and two of her older sisters, thus left her to have only her aunt and
her father. This reflects into Jane Eyre by revealing that Jane also lost her mother and within the book

Olaudah Equiano s the Interesting Narrative of the Life of...
Olaudah Equiano s The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavus Vassa, the
African, Written by Himself, is the story of the eponymous real life character, Olaudah Equiano, his
life, trials, tribulations and journey from slavery at an early age to freedom. For Equiano, it seems that
slavery is almost a metaphysical phenomenon. His entire life is essentially characterized by the
different experiences relating slavery, from Africa to the Middle Passage to plantation life in the West
Indies and United States. Equiano s views on slavery are tough to articulate and truly complex.
Throughout the novel he makes reference to different degrees of slavery, at times condemning the
practice, and at other times contradicting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He details being shocked and hurt to the point where he tries to wash the color of his skin off his face.
While travelling the seas with Pascal, Equiano has many more encounters in and with Britain. With
more and more exposure to Christianity and European culture, he details that he was no longer
frightened and apprehensive towards it, beginning to show confluence of African and European
cultures. He was eventually sent to school in Britain, educated and shortly after, baptized. It is worth
noting that later in the novel he often relates his new religious standpoint to his enslavement. While
becoming a Christian himself, whether or not he holds responsible God, himself, or the hypocritical
Christian Europeans for his enslavement is left ambiguous.
Ultimately, (and after brief stints of being purchased by other masters) Equiano is sold to Robert King.
Educated and under the direction of a master treating him relatively fair, Equiano here observes
another facet of slavery. He is further educated and directed along the path of Christianity, which I
believe further adds more conflicting emotion, due to it being comparable to his original notion of
slavery from his childhood. While working for King on shipping routes, he determines himself to save
some money on the side, in order to buy his freedom from King. Interesting to note though, in the
novel he explicitly states that he would like to return to Old England, not Africa. While I think this is

Examples Of Paranoia In Animal Farm

even our society is utopian. These novels, Animal Farm and Lord of the Flies , can be compared to the

World Hunger In Africa
World hunger is defined as the want or scarcity of food on a global level. Approximately 795 million
people world wide suffer from chronic malnourishment and nearly all of them live in developing
countries (2016 World Hunger and Poverty Facts and Statistics, 2016). The numbers are shocking and
humanitarian food aid is required to save the millions of men, women, and children that are at risk of
death from starvation. There are three primary types of aid; program aid or in kind aid, relief or
emergency food aid, and project food aid. Project food aid is delivered as part of a specific project
relating to the promotion of agriculture or economic development, nutrition, and food security, such as
food for work or school feeding programs (Shah, 2007). The United Nation s World Food Programe

Benefits Of Police Body Cameras
The need for police officers to be equipped with body cameras while on duty is crucial in rebuilding
community relations and increasing police accountability. As such, there are various benefits and
consequences in the implementation of this proposed policy for all police departments. While benefits
include lowering rates of police misconduct, increased accountability and transparency, improved
officer training, providing effective evidence for trials and reduction of civilian complaints, there are
consequences such as the upfront cost of police cameras, legal and privacy concerns and reliability of

Recording from police cameras could aid as a tool in officer training, as it could be used to observe
where and how officers could correct their behavior. Captured footage from the cameras could be

racial bias and sexism, to provide new officers with a foundation that exposes them to real incidents
that have happened in the field. Officers will be able to learn what encounters with members of the

An individual s sense of belonging is determined not only by their own choices but also by the

Essay draft:
Belonging brings to our attention the potential that all individuals are affected by not only their
choices but the attitudes of others. The Notion of time allows for an individual s perception to change
and in turn, form different attitudes towards people as we see through the characters in Rainbows End

dramatic change in persona occurs in Gladys from dreaming about being into white culture, she now

She is now willing to speak on behalf of her people and fight for what is right. The reading of the

The Purpose Of The Kaufman Speech To Language Protocol
The Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol targets the production of specific phonemes, then builds
on these skills to elicit word level productions and eventually conversational speech. In addition, SLPs
utilize phonological processes to help the child produce target words. For example, if the target word
is bubble, but the child is unable to spontaneously produce the word, the SLP can instruct the child to
say /bub/, deleting the final consonant /l/ for easier production. As the child progresses, the
phonological processes are faded and whole words are produced. Consequently, speech intelligibility
is improved. 4. Describe the purpose of the approach. The purpose of the Kaufman Speech to
Language Protocol (K SLP) is to shape the child s current level of speech production into higher levels
of motor speech coordination. Essentially, this therapy technique aims to isolate speech components
and increase motor skills at a reasonable pace. When simpler oral motor movements have been
mastered, children s therapy focus will shift to higher level speech motor movements, along with
correct use of morphology and syntax. It is a treatment approach for children with childhood apraxia
of speech (CAS), other speech sound disorders, and expressive language challenges.
With this technique, speech is broken down into syllable patterns, vowels, and consonants. For
instance, if a child struggles with the consonant /p/, then therapy sessions would focus on that concept
solely. The

Against The Tide Summary
After reading the book Against The Tide by Cornelia Dean I think that the national policy for
governing developing coastlines should be dependent on an areas geologic features. In order to do
this, government officials would have to evaluate and create detailed reports to battle erosion in
specific areas rather than simply proposing a project that worked in a different place. In terms of
development, I think that if a project is going to be undertaken over a large area coastal geologists and
engineers should make small scale models of the region containing the planned infrastructure. After a
few years, the isolated small scale should be observed for long term effects so that they are known
before construction begins. Additionally, if the

Stanislavsky Method Acting
Stanislavsky and the History of Method Acting
I do not believe you. These five words were used by Konstantin Stanislavsky in the late 1890 s in
Soviet Russia to chastise an actor who was not convincing enough in his role. Although but a brief
glimpse into the mind of Stanislavsky, the words help bring clarity to a technique and system that
forever transformed the world of acting and drama.
Konstantin Stanislavski was an actor and director who is credited with pioneering method acting and
the Stanislavsky system. As an actor, Stanislavski was discontented with the prevailing ideas on
theatre and acting, leading him to drop out of the Moscow Theatre School after only being there for
about two weeks. He found inspiration rather in the philosophical ... Show more content on

One such case is Daniel Day Lewis who received traditional training rather than experiential at Bristol
Old Vic, a high profile theatre arts school in England. Daniel Day Lewis is known for refusing to
break character in between scenes and doing extensive research for every role he accepts. This was
particularly the case for Spielberg s Lincoln, in which Lewis studied for over a year and used his
Lincoln imitative voice beyond the confines of the set to play the titular role which won him an Oscar.
Lastly, Jake Gyllenhaal is known for undergoing physical transformations that rival the severity of De
Niro s when he adopts a role. This included losing 30 pounds to portrary the neurotic amaetur
videographer Louis Bloom in Nightcrawler. Additionally, Gyllenhaal left the film with a permanent
scar on his hand, the result of a mindset in which the lines between the actor and the character were
blurred. Following Nightcrawler with the film Southpaw, Gyllenhaal spent 8 months in an extremely
rigorous exercise routine in order to have the physique he felt necessary to truly be a boxer. Lastly,
Dustin Hoffman is known to have engaged in method acting at least once as he stayed awake for three
days straight during the shoot movie Marathon Man. Hoffman, in his attempt to immerse himself in
the role of Thomas Levy, decided the best way for him to appear as though he did not sleep for three
days was to physically put himself in that very

Cultural Practices between Men and Women in Nigeria
INTRODUCTION
Creative Media Industries are swiftly shifting its focus to solely digital media and opportunities for
creative writers are paid no attention but a Canada based Nigerian scholar at the thirty first yearly
covention of the Association of Nigerian Authors, points out that writers are the world s window into a
culture Adesanmi (2013). Novelists, biographers, historians, scriptwriters, and more recently, bloggers
are the constant that record and catalogue the culture, norms and trends of a particular period or
people. Through creative writing the culture of a group of people is revealed and documented. This
project is a collection of fictional short stories, it is titled Cold Heart and Other Stories. The theme of

People s lives and cultures are made up of coinciding stories, and the monolithic impression of
Nigerian women in literature still needs to be challenged.
LITERATURE REVIEW/CRITICAL UNDERPINNING In Nigeria, men expect and demand respect,
cultural practices show that the major roles of women is to submit to their men, raise the children and
feed them. From the precolonial period to present time, women s roles have advanced but the Nigeria
has always been a patriachial society, the concept of patriachy is crucial...because feminism needed a
term by which the totality of oppressive and exploitative relations which affect women could be
expressed (Humm 2003:200).
Colonialism ushered education and with time, women were allowed to be educated and became
exposed and aware of their rights but:
...women s rights and women s being have always been taken for granted, nicely and safely tucked
away under the bed of patriarchy. Silence was the virtue of women and passivity their garner, but it
was not always so. Traditional societies in pre colonial times had spheres of power and influence for
women in closely knit organizations that helped them maintain a

The Pros And Cons Of Playing Deer Hunter
Alright so maybe this is a cruel topic but let s face it, the bear hunters that particpated in New Jersey
probably had more fun than anybody playing Deer Hunter 2014. New Jersey s open season on bears
has opened and the citizens over there sure got a lot of them. This, no doubt, led to many protesters
against it. Maybe they should go play Deer Hunter and see if the real thing would be more fun!
BEAR HUNTERS GO WILD IN NEW JERSEY
There were a total of 216 bears that were killed on opening day of bear season. This number nearly
doubled the amount of last year which was only 120. This means that the week long season will
probably last years amount of 272 bears. Although there were protesters, a member of the Bureau of

Analysis of The Titanic, by James Cameron Essay
Within the context of film industry, the film Titanic by James Cameron belongs to epic romance/
disaster genre. The film, released in 1997, was a global box office hit because the director provided
equal importance to history, fiction and romance. To be specific, one can see that the film s plot is
based upon the history of RMS Titanic. On the other side, the main characters including the
protagonist and the heroine (Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater/Dawson) are fictional characters.
Besides, the element of romance between the main characters (Jack and Rose) is the film s main
attraction. Thesis statement: The critical analysis of the film Titanic proves that the innovative mode
of storytelling (flash back and other techniques), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within this context, the director made use of flashback technique to unearth the romantic story of the
lovers in the film. To be specific, the plot moves from present condition (say, 1996) to past (say, 1912)
and to present (1996). In the opening scene, the director portrays the effort of Brock Lovett (say, a
treasure hunter) to unearth the secret behind a necklace sunk with RMS Titanic in 1912. Gradually, the
director portrays the love affair between Rose and Jack. In the end, Rose drops the necklace into the
Ocean and returns. The film ends with a fictional reunion between the lovers. B. Acting The film s
casting is related to historical and fictional characters. For instance, some of real travelers in the RMS
Titanic are portrayed in the film. This is helpful for the viewers to identify the historical element of the
film. On the other side, the protagonist and the heroine are fictional characters. For instance, Jack and
Rose, (the protagonist and his lady love) are fictional characters who inculcated the element of
romance in the film. One can see that the director s decision to caste Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack
Dawson (say, the protagonist) is one of the elements behind the commercial success of the film.
Besides, DiCaprio s youthful exuberance suits his character in the film. On the other side, Kate
Winslet s character as Rose DeWitt Bukater is apt

The Fifth Discipline Summary

The Five Disciplines and Organizational Improvement
Throughout our final semester of study at Maryville, our cohort has studied Peter Senge s, The Fifth
Discipline: The Art and Practice of the Learning Organization. Rather than set of management
practices, the book describes how organizations, especially those that are sustainably competitive,
know how to learn. These learning organizations are continuously learning how to work together,
where the norm is producing their best. In the book, Senge identifies five essential elements, that when
practiced together, create perfect conditions for an effective learning organization. These five practices
are Personal Mastery, Mental Models, Shared Vision, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A system is a collection of elements that interact with each other over time to function as a whole.
Systems thinking is a combination of the previous four practices: personal mastery, mental models,
shared vision and team learning to dissect and examine the practices of the organization. I first heard
learned about systems thinking five years ago when I started in the Hazelwood School District. Our
district had just began our district wide professional development on systems thinking, but then we
had a change in our superintendent in late August, just a few weeks after the start of school. With the
change in district leadership, came a change in our district focus, and systems thinking was almost
immediately abandoned. However, since revisiting it this semester, I can t help but incorporate it into

An analysis of how dikh (‘justice’) and its associated...
An analysis of how dikh ( justice ) and its associated values are presented and translated in two
passages from Sophocles: Electra.
What broader issues are raised and how would these be investigated further? The concept of dikh, or
justice has many subtle meanings and variations in Ancient Greek ranging from the primary definition
given in LS (Liddell and Scotts, Greek English Lexicon , Intermediate,
1889, page 202) of custom to right, judgement, lawsuit, penalty and vengeance. The OCD
(Hornblower S, Oxford Classical Dictionary, 1996,
Page 469) reference to Likh describes it as the, personification of justice and the daughter of Zeus that,
reports men s wrongdoing to
Zeus .
Sophocles rendition of the tragic play ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is strange, especially as the remaining children conspire and eventually murder those responsible
for their father s death. They presumably feel otherwise. In just this one passage justice is used to
mean custom, just, revenge and vengeance.
The second extract follows immediately after the news of Orestes death
(Ibid., pg 91) when Clytaemnestra, after a brief moment of sorrow is joyous at the news that her life is
now safe. In contrast we see that
Electra is devastated (Ibid., line 789) at the news. The idea of justice and revenge is brought to a
climax here as Clytaemnestra feels that, Justice is done to him . Would this be justice to Orestes for
not doing his duty or to Agamemnon for sacrificing his child? This compares well with the previous
passage where Clytaemnestra accuses
Electra of not doing her duty (Ibid., pg 84, line 526). Electra cries out to Likh, Goddess of Vengeance,
hear and speak for the dead .
It is clear from the many interpretations of dikh and its use in
Sophocles Electra that other, broader issues can be raised. The very concepts of justice, revenge,
honour and custom are exposed in detail. Understanding these issues and the language used requires
further study of the period, language, laws, customs and traditions.
The most important issue raised by this play is that of how do we (or more specifically the Greeks
watching the play) feel about matricide

Reflection Of Odysseus
Trying to decipher a person is a difficult task, perhaps impossible. We can, however, observe their
actions, their experiences and their resemblance to other people to make some progress in
comprehending them. Deciphering Odysseus is especially strenuous, for he is shown as a crafty liar
who tricks others to get what he wants. Additionally, we cannot tell where the truths end and the lies
begin. Consequently, we might not be able to wholly answer who Odysseus is but if we are to
understand the Odyssey, we first have to understand Odysseus.
Homer has constructed Odysseus as a complex character who is capable of molding himself into
different forms to get the best out of his surroundings. Despite this complexity, Homer has given us
enough clues to be able to recognize his actions. Of these clues, some are explicit and obvious, others
are implied and can be deduced via his speeches and his acts. The explicit ones are easy, he is
described to be, among other things, wise, kind and resourceful. The proofs of these can be seen
numerous times in the text and thus be taken at face value. The real difficulty starts when we move
past the explicit to the implicit.
To grasp his nature, we have to observe the other roles in the book who share parts of his experiences,
personalities or aims. Consider Telemachus. Despite the clear difference between his and Odysseus`
stature, other people like Nestor and Menelaus have no trouble accepting him to be the son of
Odysseus after hearing him

Genetic Synthesis
Introduction After voluminous amounts of studies, it is known that million years ago, the first human
arose from our beloved ancestor, the Great Ape and just as humans arose, so has the way research can
be approached. Molecular data can be used in modern phylogeny as a form to study evolutionary
biology. This approach is practical because it uses extracted DNA and protein sequences to do an
analysis on the sequence by finding similar sequences to it, in which help in phylogenetic
reconstruction. In this study, two molecular markers were used: 16S rDNA and mtNCR (control
region) to generate common ancestors among both markers. It was crucial to construct the
phylogenetic tree to view the phenotypic evolution of the Great Apes. Bipedalism is the primary
method locomotion in humans and was the most drastic phenotypic change in the primate lineage.
Larger primates such as, gorilla and orangutan, possess the lateral sequence locomotion:
quadrupedalism. Both types of locomotion s are beneficial in distinctive ways. For instance, scientist
such as Darwin said that bipedalism is advantageous for humans because it freed the hands of task
locomotion and evolved them to tool making (Begun, 2015). Bipedal mammals also have the ability to
carry nutrition and their infants, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Essay about Honored Irish Immigrants For many people, the American dreams and promises brought ideas and new hopes of a better life. For the Irish, the American dreams and promises weren t just ideas and hopes, they were the way to a new beginning in America, a way to start over and forget the horrifying past they encountered. The Irish struggled day after day to pay for fair travel to America. To many people, the challenge the Irish overcame seemed to deserve praise. Today, the Irish are honored and commemorated for their hard work and desire for a better life. The start of the Irish peoples struggles began when the British came and destroyed their way of life. The Penal laws of 1691 stripped Irish Catholics of their freedoms by taking away their rights to become officers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People worried about the potato crop. At first, the potatos seemed fine, but after further examination the potatos were rotten. In October of 1845, Britain s Prime Minister, Sir Robert Peel, established a scientific commission to discover over half of Irelands potatos had been ruined by wet rot. The potato crop failed time and time again. Irish people began to lose hope in receiving better living conditions, but the shipping lanes opened to America after they had been closed by the war (Philip). Irish began to think of the American dream and promise. The American dream and promise changes a nations state of mind. It originally comes from the Declaration of Independence. The promise is all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights. The dream: Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. All of which were things the Irish desired (Pendry). According to Philips, between 1815 and 1816, around 20,000 Irish traveled to the Americas. These emigrants were mostly professionals and shopkeepers, because farmers couldn t afford travel. Over the next two decades shipping fees continued to have outrageous prices, but between 1823 and 1825 more people, such as the merchants and farmers, were able to travel because free passage and land grants were allowed to Catholics. The largest emigration was in 1827 when nearly 400,000 Irish traveled to the Americas on Coffin Ships; overcrowded ships filled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Descriptive Essay About A Jacket I threw my books on my bed and approached the jacket as if I knew what was inside the christmas present and it wasn t what i wanted. I looked at the jacket, i wanted to hurl. I touched the sleeve and peaked inside at the brownish yellow lining. My mom s voice echoed from the kitchen to my room. Your jacket is in th So I opened my closet door slowly waiting for someone to jump out and scare me, praying to the lord that there was another jacket in the closet. YES!!!! I had to have the best mother on earth! They re hanging right in front of me hung the perfect jacket. Smooth jet black leather. Perfect black lining. I put the jacket on like I was one of those cool biker people in those old movies. Slipped on the jacket and puffed up the collar, looked at my profile multiple times like i was posing or a picture on a runway. Fixed up my hair to see what i would look like if I was doing something normal. Leaned up against my wall, and the bedpost. I looked so awesome!! I ran down the stairs so fast to reach my mom before she was too busy cooking dinner, i wrapped my arms around her waist, so tight, like a belt that was a little too small. My mom jumped as a shouted for the whole world to hear. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, so much! She tried to hug me with a wooden spoon and her glasses fogged up from the steam coming from the stove, but i was behind her so it was difficult. She chuckled at how happy I was. • 4. America Needs Censorship Essay Being frustrated is disagreeable, but the real disasters in life begin when you get what you want. For almost a century now, a great many intelligent, well meaning and articulate people have argued eloquently against any kind of censorship of art and entertainment. Within the past twenty years, courts and legislatures have found these arguments so persuasive that censorship is now a relative rarity in most states. Is there triumphant exhilaration in the land? Hardly. Somehow, things have not worked out as they were supposed to, and many civil libertarians have said this was not what they meant. They wanted a world in which Eugene O Neill s Desire under the Elms could be produced, or James Joyce s Ulysses published, without interference. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That those who certainly know this are moved to deny it merely indicates how a dogmatic resistance to the idea of censorship can result in a mindless insistence on the absurd. For the plain fact is that we all believe that there is a point at which the public authorities ought to step in to limit the self expression of an individual or a group. A theatrical director might find someone willing to commit suicide on the stage. We would not allow that. And I know of no one who argues that we ought to permit public gladiatorial contests, even between consenting adults. No society can be utterly indifferent to the ways its citizens publicly entertain themselves. Bearbaiting and cockfighting are prohibited only in part out of compassion for the animals; the main reason is that such spectacles, were felt to debase and brutalize the citizenry who flocked to witness them. The question with regard to pornography and obscenity is whether they will brutalize and debase our citizenry. We are, after all, not dealing with one book or one movie. We are dealing with a general tendency that is suffusing our entire culture. Pornography s whole purpose, it seems to me, is to treat human beings obscenely, to deprive them of their specifically human dimension. Imagine a well known man in a hospital ward, dying an agonizing death. His bladder and bowels empty themselves of their own accord. His consciousness is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It requires good literature review which is derived by tapping and evaluating previous researchers efforts and expertise. A potential research study on Conflict Management Styles among Corporate Executives in Developing Countries Nigeria a Case Study is considered for a signature assignment. Conflict is inevitable and exists everywhere. In organizational system, conflict and methods of conflict management influences different groups (employees, management team and executives). Conflicts are realities of life and can be defined as a situation of competition in which the parties involved are quite aware of the incompatibility of future condition whereby each party wishes to occupy a position that is incompatible with the wishes of the other (Olu Adesubomi, 2013, p. 2). They have no boundaries. They occur whether we like it or not, especially when there is disagreement and misunderstanding which stands as major key characteristics of human relationships. The relationship could be domestic, national, or international (Spiroska, 2014). Furthermore, conflicts happen when people are incompatible. In the organizational setting, conflict could arise due to failure of the employer, not honoring certain agreed bargaining. Henry (2009) indicated that if the workers right and prerogative is not appropriated rightly, it could cause conflict; such workers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

INTRODUCTION The growing dependence of many countries, especially the USA and Europe on the imported oil and the daily increase of oil price and the heightened concern on the global warming and the environmental pollutions which has forced many car manufacturing companies to study the new and innovative techniques in solving this very important issue. Toyota as the world s third car manufacturing company and the first in Japan has introduced a new era in the vehicles history. CONVINCING CONSUMERS: The main issue on Hybrid vehicles was that most of consumers did not believe it as a real car. Overtime, Toyota succeeded to convince the automobile buyers that Toyota Prius is a real, usable and efficient hybrid car. DRIVING RESPONSIBILITY. Toyota Prius has been equipped with a monitoring system which helps the driver to know how to run his/her car to have a better function and reduce the fuel usage and save more energy. This helps the driver to feel responsible on his/her driving and to maximize the car fuel efficiency. LONG TERM PLAN BEFORE LAUNCHING THE PRODUCT: Although Toyota invented this new hybrid vehicle more than ten years ago, it did not offer the car to the USA consumers immediately. The main reason was that Toyota was aware of the new technology challenges. While Toyota was on the market research and new product development, other companies were focusing on merger and acquisition. Brand recognition, technology changes and improvement take several years to finish and Toyota wanted to launch a product which has cleared all the possible obstacles such as space, efficiency, speed, safety, weight which can meet all consumers expectations. The scattered rainforests contain elements characteristic of all forest categories. The result is a variety of plant communities that are extremely diverse. Throughout the forest over 700 species of plants and animals can be discovered (Queensland Tropical Forests, 2015).In the article, Recruitment dynamics of invasive species in rainforest habitats following Cyclone Larry, it states that many studies have concentrated on the effects of small scale destruction of Australian tropical forests. They work in the same way as deforestation does; cyclones have a major effect on canopy disruption, such as the removal of most leaves, and exposing of the understory to light (Metcalfe, D. J., Lawson, T. J. 2015) Most experiments have looked at the effect of small scale disruptions on tropical forest biodiversity. Nevertheless, it seems that large scale disturbances, like cyclones, have a huge influence on tropical forest organization. Openings in the tropical forests upper story is caused by these disturbances; allowing seeds of invasive plants to grow with very little competition. Quick growth of the invasive plants compared to the native species, leads to the long term changes in the biodiversity that can be found in the forest. Not only do cyclones have the ability to do this but also strong winds when they damage the trees, and expose the lower vegetation to extreme light. Invasive species can change how a forest regrows after being damaged, because they invade the spaces and steal resources from the natives, who may not be so resistant to the light and heat. The invasive vegetation ends up flooding the forest and destroying the biodiversity that once populated the area. Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Pros And Cons The Israeli Palestinian conflict has been a tragedy, a clash between one very powerful, very convincing, very painful claim over this land and another no less powerful, no less convincing claim, (Oz, Amos). This conflict has been one that has lasted multiple decades and continues to be a hotbed for controversial opinions and arguments. One pressing issue in today s time is whether or not the United States should continue to support what seems like a never ending conflict. The United States Government should continue to pressure Israel into a two state solution in order to reap the benefits, which include the creation of democratic nations in the Middle East, improved relations with bordering countries, and a decrease in violence. America ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the world becomes more industrialized and interdependent, the need for good relations in areas increases, especially with countries near Israel. The Middle East is becoming a more prominent player in global relations today, making their alliance extremely valuable to those who have it. The United States relationship with countries in the Middle East is a pressing topic as terrorism in this region grows. By pressuring Israel into creating two states, the United States can help decrease the hostile relations between them and countries Palestine is allied with, which include Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan among many other arab nations. According to Chas W. Freeman of the Middle East Policy Council, our main conflict with the arab states stems from our alliance and support of Israel while they continue to oppress Palestinians. Thus, two states would lead to a relaxation in these relations. As discussed in the paragraph above, two states would also lead to the creation of the first two democracies in the Middle East. Through shared political views, relations in the area will improve as well. Therefore, the pressure of the United States to create two states will boost relations with countries in the Middle East, which is vital in today s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Stages Of Group Development Stages of group development have been defined as forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning (Tuckman, 1965, 1977). This widely accepted model serves as the basis for my exploration into the dynamics of group development. This paper will also look at the potential conflicts that groups may encounter for the first three stages as well as the possible actions and approaches to resolve the conflict. In the first stage, the Forming stage, personal relationships are being built. Members might rely on behavior that is safe, looking to the group leader for guidance and direction. The forming stage takes place when the group first meets each other. In this first meeting, group members are introduced to each other. They share information about their backgrounds, experience, information and form first opinions of each other. They learn about what the group s goals are, or what they will be working on. During this period it is important to establish a leader who will provide direction regarding the group goals. This leader should keep others on task as well as keep members involved to determine group roles. Some common conflicts that can arise at this stage include issues with the tone that may be used by leaders. If leaders set an exclusive tone, others might follow leading to the exclusion of other members. When leaders form opinions that are baseless or otherwise without merit at this stage, the effects on those targeted can be difficult to overcome. One of the best ways ... Long before the discovery of the six communal grave sites, testimonies such as that of Hayyim Galipapa (1310 1380) have provided textual records for the mass killing of Jews during the spread of the plague. The authors argue that a consequence of the plague epidemic was the increase attacks on social minorities, Jews in particular stood out as a powerful minority group which many of these attacks focused around. • 12. Statement For Sop For Electronics Today, the world is dominated by the field of electronics. Innovative ideas are coming into existence in our day to day life. Electronics plays a key role in the organization of any system under consideration. This trait of electronics extends into a broader scope. Thus, pursuing a career in the electronics field is my goal. Thus, Masters in Electrical Engineering with Electronics as the major is an apt choice to reach my goal. My interest in Electronics sprouted from my childhood days. When I was five, I always had the habit of breaking remote cars and planes, and explore what is actually present inside. Governing the operations of the car or television by a remote from a distance was an enigmatic concept to visualize at that stage. So, what actually constitutes the design of the remote was a question that always been pondering my mind. It is the small electronic design that controls the entire operation. Thus this habit went on up to the extent that , I developed the hobby of breaking all the worn out gadgets and goods such as laptop chargers, cell phones etc. and have a collection of electronic design present in those gadgets. Students go to learn from their peers. In order to support literacy in my lesson, I had the students read the dollars to make sure they were using the correct dollar bills. What factors shape perceptions of the brand in the eyes of parents and young girls? Barbie was billed as a shapely teenage fashion model, and made her first appearance at the American Toy Fair in New York City and soon became a hit. When I was younger I was still playing with my Barbie dolls into 8th grade so around 13/14 years old. My cousin has a 13 year old daughter to constantly posts on facebook how she is going to be alone forever and that she will never meet a good guy. At 13 years old she should not be concerned about boys, especially not finding the one she is going to spend the rest of her life with! This all being said I think that the popularity of social media is taking away from young girls being young which is causing them to stray away from childhood toys like Barbies and Bratz. Also with the popularity of an internet meme taking the Barbie and Bratz image and suggesting things in a mature manner causes people to look at them in a manner aside from being a child s play thing. 4. Julian rose above this racism and turned out to be among the most influential scientists of the 20th century and a leader of civil and business rights. Percy Lavon Julian was born in the year1989. Julian was lucky as his parents were educated and had an appreciation for education which was not the case for most black Americans. Although his parents had a great appreciation for education, Julian attended a segregated elementary school. There was no public high school for black individuals like Lavon. Hence, he had no option but to enroll in a teacher training school for blacks (Drew, 1950). In 1916, Julian enrolled at DePauw University having a tenth grade education barely. Jia Chien is the middle daughter who is ambitious in advancing her career as a corporate airline executive, having little time for her family and desiring to quickly move out of the house. Jia Chien s position shows how women in modern Taiwan occupy jobs in essentially all job markets, yet the fact that she is an executive contrasts even the modern woman gender role where women do not typically own managerial positions (Gold 1114). Additionally, the Taiwanese airline she works for is expanding into new countries by acquiring new airline routes in the international market (Dilley 48) which compares to how Taiwan desired to globalize through markets such as the United States. However the same statement diverges from the notion that western nations are the dominant forces in globalization and instead, the Taiwanese are now the perpetrators of globalization, exerting its own influence on the international market. It is then revealed that Jia Chien originally wanted to pursue the culinary arts, actually having much talent for cooking, but in the past her father Mr. Chu forbade her from becoming a chef and even from being in the kitchen. Mr. Chu s reasoning is that Jia Chien should have a better life with a university education than him, leading to Jia Chien s bitterness to her father and complicating their relationship. Mr. Chu s seemingly oppressive behavior symbolizes Taiwan s traditional family values as he has power over his daughter and dictates what she can or cannot do. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Legal Positivism Over Natural Law Theory Introduction This article discusses the conceptions of legal normativity, both moral and strictly legal conceptions. According to Spaak, regarding the normative force of legal justification, legal positivists can still embrace the moral idea and not be in conflict with their generally held belief in the strictly legal concept of law. In Torben Spaak s opinion, there is a reason to desire legal positivism; he explains this through introducing the concept of jurisprudence. When discussing the nature of law, Spaak states, that while the moral conception is what is likely favored on a smaller scale, the strictly legal conception is more appealing because it is broader, (478). Spaak is arguing, his belief that validity based explanations come nearer to the truth, (483) rather than belief based explanations. He concludes that we are to prefer legal positivism over natural law theory. That is why in this article I have been concerned with the law itself rather than our views about it. (483) Spaak actually states that his focus has been exclusively on the law rather than people s opinions of the law. He does not appear to be consistent in this focus. Rather, he fluctuates many times between agreeing and disagreeing with whether morals have a base in law itself or in just the application or theory of law. Summary I agree mostly with what Ronald Dworkin is quoted as stating in this article. His opinion of the moral conception of law s normativity (479) is what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rational behavior on the part of the firm to achieve its goal of profit maximization. 3. The firm is managed by owner entrepreneur. Determination of profit maximizing price and output Profit maximization of a firm can be explained in two different ways. · Total Revenue and Total Cost approach. · Marginal Revenue and Marginal Cost approach. Profits of a firm are estimated by making comparison between total revenue and total costs. Profit is the difference between TR and TC. In other words, excess of revenue over costs is the profits. Profit = TR TC. If TR is equal to TC in that case, there will be break even point. If TR is less than TC, in that case, a firm will be incurring losses. In this case, we take in to account of total cost and total revenue of the firm while measuring profits. It is clear from the following diagram how profit arises when TR is greater than that of TC. 2. MR and MC approach In this case, we take in to account of revenue earned from one unit and cost incurred to produce only one unit of output. A firm will be maximizing its profits when MR= MC and MC curve cuts MR curve from below. If MC curve cuts MR curve from above either under perfect market or under imperfect market, no doubt MR equals MC but total output will not be maximized and hence total profits also will not be maximized. Abstract We study the impact of ethnic and religious fractionalization on the U.S. municipal debt market, and find that issuers from more ethnically and religiously fractionalized counties pay higher yields on their municipal debt. A two standard deviation increase in religious fractionalization is associated with a six basis point increase in bond yields, and a two standard deviation increase in ethnic fractionalization is associated with a ten basis point increase. For example, in a society that is half white and half Hispanic, the ethnic fractionalization measure would be 0.5; there would be a 50 percent chance that any two randomly selected people would be of the same ethnicity. Fractionalization is the most common measure used to capture the extent to which a particular society is divided across a particular characteristic. We focus on ethnic and religious fractionalization because these characteristics are both salient and relatively fixed. Wealth, income, and education are not directly observable, and like age they vary mechanically over the life cycle. Ethnic and religious affiliations are generally more static. These measures capture the underlying concept that we focus on, namely the strength of social ties across citizens and between citizens and officials in a local area. We find evidence that municipal issuers in religiously fractionalized counties pay more to borrow than those in other counties. The point estimates suggest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Books Persepolis By Marjane Satrapi The books Persepolis, by Marjane Satrapi, as well as First They Killed My Father, by Loung Ung, share many similarities throughout their exploration into children s experiences during wartime. For instance, the identities and emotions of the main characters, Marji and Loung, are often strongly influenced by the clothing that they are forced to wear. In Marji s case, it s the hijab Islamic veil which all women are forced to wear after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. In Loung s, it s the black pajamas that she and her family are forced to wear while they are prisoners in Ro Leap, Cambodia. Marji is first introduced to the veil in a way that would be confusing to many children her age. From a child s perspective, the requirement for all women to suddenly have to wear this additional piece of black clothing came very suddenly and unexpectedly. The veil is used throughout the story to cover women s bodies, as well as eventually to cover their own sense of self. The veil in Persepolis becomes a symbol to describe the Iranian oppression of women when they are in the presence of adult men outside of their family. Not all women are against the idea of the veil, but many are against the concept of being forced to wear it by law. In no time, the way people dressed became an ideological sign. • 29. The Impact Of Divorce On Family Introduction The words from the Bible, therefore, what God has joined together, let no man separate have been habitually used during weddings throughout history. Stepping into the 21st century, those words have not been faithfully lived up to, evident through the numerous counts of divorces in society. Divorce can be defined as the legal dissolution of a marriage by a court order and in this generation, is seen as the norm. Apart from race, other major predictors of divorce include age at marriage, education, premarital births and religion. (Bartolic, Martin, White, 2013). Divorce often tends to be thought of in a monolithic way, as if everyone who gets a divorce goes through the same process. The impact of divorce on the well being of children have been notoriously viewed with a negative lens for many years due to possible risk factors that may affect children and their upbringing as they navigate through life as their parents separate. However, families have the ability to strengthen and bounce back even stronger with more knowledge through these experiences. This paper thoroughly discusses the impacts of divorce and its effects on family structure and the ways in which families can collectively work together to overcome crises and be resilient. This includes the many protective factors that help families overcome their challenges and adversities such as positive social interactions, personal protective factors, and belief systems in which all of these aspects encompass ... Some of the problems with public schools are that children who go there with certain beliefs and customs that they participate in at home that they cannot do at school. Many citizens in states such as Pennsylvania are having issues with school systems making regulations on homeschooling that are not allowed (Doherty, Brian). One of the main arguments that parents are using deals with the Religious Freedom Protection act. This act states that state agencies may not compel conduct or expression which violates a specific tenet of a person s religious faith. It also argues that nowhere in religious scripture is authority for education given over to government. Not only are parents saying that the Bible directly calls them out to educate their own children, but that it is the choice of the parents. Although there are many people choosing this method of education because of religious reasons, many parents who are not religious are choosing homeschooling because of the opportunities it opens up for their children and them. There are three primary types of aid; program aid or in kind aid, relief or emergency food aid, and project food aid. Project food aid is delivered as part of a specific project relating to the promotion of agriculture or economic development, nutrition, and food security, such as food for work or school feeding programs (Shah, 2007). The United Nation s World Food Programe (WFP) is the leading international organization providing food and organizing logistics in disasters and emergencies all over the world. Two of its current projects are helping Somalia and Nigeria. In 2017, the WFP has provided food distributions and digital cash cards to nearly a million people in Somalia, and is in the process of raising $1.5 million to combat food insecurity in Nigeria (UN World Food Programme, 2017). • 43. The Purpose Of The Kaufman Speech To Language Protocol The Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol targets the production of specific phonemes, then builds on these skills to elicit word level productions and eventually conversational speech. In addition, SLPs utilize phonological processes to help the child produce target words. For example, if the target word is bubble, but the child is unable to spontaneously produce the word, the SLP can instruct the child to say /bub/, deleting the final consonant /l/ for easier production. As the child progresses, the phonological processes are faded and whole words are produced. Consequently, speech intelligibility is improved. 4. Describe the purpose of the approach. The purpose of the Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol (K SLP) is to shape the child s current level of speech production into higher levels of motor speech coordination. Essentially, this therapy technique aims to isolate speech components and increase motor skills at a reasonable pace. When simpler oral motor movements have been mastered, children s therapy focus will shift to higher level speech motor movements, along with correct use of morphology and syntax. It is a treatment approach for children with childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), other speech sound disorders, and expressive language challenges. With this technique, speech is broken down into syllable patterns, vowels, and consonants. For instance, if a child struggles with the consonant /p/, then therapy sessions would focus on that concept solely. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What broader issues are raised and how would these be investigated further? The concept of dikh, or justice has many subtle meanings and variations in Ancient Greek ranging from the primary definition given in LS (Liddell and Scotts, Greek English Lexicon , Intermediate, 1889, page 202) of custom to right, judgement, lawsuit, penalty and vengeance. This is strange, especially as the remaining children conspire and eventually murder those responsible for their father s death. They presumably feel otherwise. In just this one passage justice is used to mean custom, just, revenge and vengeance. The second extract follows immediately after the news of Orestes death (Ibid., pg 91) when Clytaemnestra, after a brief moment of sorrow is joyous at the news that her life is now safe. In contrast we see that Electra is devastated (Ibid., line 789) at the news. The idea of justice and revenge is brought to a climax here as Clytaemnestra feels that, Justice is done to him . Would this be justice to Orestes for not doing his duty or to Agamemnon for sacrificing his child? This compares well with the previous passage where Clytaemnestra accuses Electra of not doing her duty (Ibid., pg 84, line 526). Electra cries out to Likh, Goddess of Vengeance, hear and speak for the dead . It is clear from the many interpretations of dikh and its use in Sophocles Electra that other, broader issues can be raised. The very concepts of justice, revenge, honour and custom are exposed in detail. • 51. Reflection Of Odysseus Trying to decipher a person is a difficult task, perhaps impossible. We can, however, observe their actions, their experiences and their resemblance to other people to make some progress in comprehending them. Deciphering Odysseus is especially strenuous, for he is shown as a crafty liar who tricks others to get what he wants. Additionally, we cannot tell where the truths end and the lies begin. Consequently, we might not be able to wholly answer who Odysseus is but if we are to understand the Odyssey, we first have to understand Odysseus. Homer has constructed Odysseus as a complex character who is capable of molding himself into different forms to get the best out of his surroundings. Despite this complexity, Homer has given us enough clues to be able to recognize his actions. Of these clues, some are explicit and obvious, others are implied and can be deduced via his speeches and his acts. The explicit ones are easy, he is described to be, among other things, wise, kind and resourceful. The proofs of these can be seen numerous times in the text and thus be taken at face value. The real difficulty starts when we move past the explicit to the implicit. To grasp his nature, we have to observe the other roles in the book who share parts of his experiences, personalities or aims. Consider Telemachus. Despite the clear difference between his and Odysseus` stature, other people like Nestor and Menelaus have no trouble accepting him to be the son of Odysseus after hearing him ... Genetic Synthesis Introduction After voluminous amounts of studies, it is known that million years ago, the first human arose from our beloved ancestor, the Great Ape and just as humans arose, so has the way research can be approached. Molecular data can be used in modern phylogeny as a form to study evolutionary biology. This approach is practical because it uses extracted DNA and protein sequences to do an analysis on the sequence by finding similar sequences to it, in which help in phylogenetic reconstruction. In this study, two molecular markers were used: 16S rDNA and mtNCR (control region) to generate common ancestors among both markers. It was crucial to construct the phylogenetic tree to view the phenotypic evolution of the Great Apes. Bipedalism is the primary method locomotion in humans and was the most drastic phenotypic change in the primate lineage. Larger primates such as, gorilla and orangutan, possess the lateral sequence locomotion: quadrupedalism. Both types of locomotion s are beneficial in distinctive ways.
