Book Of Judges Research Paper
Do you think doing what is right in our own eyes can cause dangerous results? To me, the answer is,
yes. The reason that I came out with this answer is because of the book of Judges in the Bible, which
tells us about the complete tragedy by Israel s mistakes, subjectivism, and the cycle of sin. Firstly, we
can use a verse: In those days, Israel had no king and everyone did what was right in their own eyes ,
to explain why the book of Judges is a tragedy because it connects to the concept of subjectivism .
Here, subjectivism means the idea that right and wrong are subjective or can depend on each
individual s opinion (chapter 8 packet, p.3). This has dangerous results, because it means you are
accepting evil things and it can

Valentine And Coincide In Ender s Game
Sigmund Freud is often referred to as the father of psychoanalysis; he was the first to ask and pursue
several groundbreaking questions. However, despite any proclaimed parentage, the field has
proceeded through multiple generations since the death of Freud himself, and the once influential
name has now become a chapter in a psychology textbook, a stepping stone on the way to the names
that are important now. True enough, certain speculations on Freud s part the Oedipus complex, his
opinions on the healing properties of cocaine do seem dubious when examined through a modern lens.
Freud is often discarded because of this, especially in professional settings, but Freud s conjectures
being false, does not mean they were not meaningful.

While the distance separates them, the specific dynamics of their relationship fade into the
background, but if Ender were to suddenly return to earth, even five years later, even as a war hero,
Peter would likely treat him just the same, because Peter doesn t change. At the conclusion of the
novel, Valentine takes it into her own hands to ensure that Ender never returns to earth, knowing that
Peter, now gaining power in politics, would use and manipulate his famous younger brother to give
himself further sway. This remains true because the id... does not change with time which has also
proven true for Peter in other instances (McLeod). With Ender gone, the Wiggin family moves away,
much to Valentine s chagrin. She wonders how Ender is meant to come home, to find them, when
home is no longer where it once was. Simultaneously, Valentine knows exactly why the family has
moved: It was for Peter, so that living among trees and small animals, so that nature, in as raw a form
as Mother and Father could conceive of it, might have a softening influence on their strange and
frightening son (Card 151). The Wiggin parents had hoped that the calm serenity of nature might find
root in Peter, and as far as they are concerned, it did. Upon moving, Peter seems better than before. He
does well in school; he does not torment his classmates.

Neptune Research Project
Introduction: Neptune has always been my favorite planet because of its blue color and the fact that it
s named after the god of the sea in Roman mythology. In class, the notes gave an overview of Neptune
in section 12.4 The Jovian Planets and I became curious about what things scientists have discovered
about Neptune and its moon, Triton. Science has evolved through the years and I wanted to learn
about the discoveries that new technologies have brought to life. Search Log: First, I typed Neptune
into Google to see what results would be displayed. The first result was from Wikipedia about
information on Neptune such as its mass and distance from the sun. However, Wikipedia is not a
reliable source because anyone can edit information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In class we learned about how Triton is the only major moon orbiting backwards in our solar system.
Due to the motion of the tides, Triton s orbit is spiraling in towards Neptune, so that Triton s semi
major axis is continuously decreasing. The moon Proteus semi major axis is continuously increasing at
a much smaller rate. The expansion of the disturbing function leads to the problem that a small inner
satellite can be strongly disturbed by Triton. The disturbing function is a method of calculating
perturbations to an objects elliptical orbit by calculating the acceleration caused by the gravitational
force of another body. Classical direct expansion is referred to an arbitrary plane, not an orbital plane
and through algorithms derived in Ellis and Murray. The algorithms were changed due to the
retrograde motion of Triton and based on the different numbers a new disturbing function was created
for arbitrary inclination. Testing was done with current inclinations of the inner satellites of Neptune;
however, assumptions were made due to the fact that the inclinations are very small. The future
dynamics of the Neptune Triton system may originate a possible 3:1 mean motion resonance involving
Triton and Proteus (Yokoyama, Nascimento and

Non Polar Amino Acid Chromatography Paper
Hypothesis: If a polar amino acid is adsorbed by a polar matrix, then the polar matrix will not move as
far along the matrix as a hydrophobic amino acid. If this is so, the Rf value of a polar amino acid will
be relatively small to that of a non polar amino acid.
Introduction: In order to identify whether an amino acid is polar (hydrophilic) or non polar
(hydrophobic), the process of chromatography is used, which separates the amino acids and identifies
them based on specific chemical traits given by the R groups. The process is preformed by placing
spots of the sample(s) on the origin of a matrix, or chromatography paper, letting it dry, then placing
the edge of the paper with the samples on it into a solvent (in this lab, it was alcohol).

Qin Shi Huang Tomb Analysis
The Qin Shi Huang mausoleum was built within 37 years of Qin Shi s years of being the emperor in
China. In his mausoleum contained a hidden one of the eighth wonders of the world Terracotta Army,
which is discovered in 1974 by a farmer named Mr. Yang. The film mainly focused on the the first
emperor era which was ruled by Qin Shi Huang, who unified China as one country, including its
language and writing. He also is considered as one of the most crucial emperors in Chinese history
because he burned many books that were written in my different languages, massacring the captured
soldiers from war, which gave him the name of Slaughter. Qin Shi Huang was scared that his enemies
would revenge him after his death, so he started to build his mausoleum while he was still emperor.
Inside the mausoleum contained many kinds of statues like horses, birds, warriors, musician, acrobats
and one of the famous objects, that archaeologists found is the Terracotta Army, which was built to
protect Qin Shi Huang in the afterlife. On his scale of the mausoleum, modern people considered Qin
Shi Huang had made a palace full of goods for himself after his death instead of just creating a simple
mausoleum. A reason for this is because in Chinese culture treat death like birth ( Ian Bremner, 2014).
Is like a Sita but not a real human. Qin Shi Huang s mausoleum has three pits that contain Terracotta
Army. One unique thing about the Terracotta Army is that each soldier figurine has a unique

Abstract
According to my studies, I m going to talk about John Maynard Keynes and his economic life. He is
one of the most recognizable and influential economist of the 20th Century. For my research, I was
summarizing about the life term history of the world s brilliant economist, who made economics
possible. The paper will be about how his economic life change the world and how is he well focused
on his learnings from his teachers and professors. The way he was well known as a wealth expert on
saving his money. The important facts about his creation on macroeconomics and what Keynesian
economics is all about. The whole aspect of Economics and the Holocaust is going to be about what
the true legacy of John Maynard Keynes. Even if I m not 100 percent correct, as Keynes would always

familes, and bonds; etc.
John Maynard Keynes was a great inspiration knowledge profession because at critical times which
was the 1930 s, when with the on stock of the Market Crash, The Great Depression , he saw very little

Charles Bailey And Martha Nussbaum
This essay is conceived with the purpose of demonstrating personal understanding of liberal education
as a result of assessing historic theory of Aristotle and comparing the contemporary theories of
Charles Bailey and Martha Nussbaum. In addition, the applicable situations of liberal education and
its governing principles will be discussed. Specifically, given the inevitable engagement of
compulsory education, which is inherently authoritarian, some aspects of liberal education are limited,
and full personal autonomy cannot be actualized. In this situation, liberal education would be less
effective and less suitable due to the loss of freedom to some degree. However, the importance of
liberal education is vital in breaking old cultural and religious world views to produce open minded
students who are capable of critical thinking. In addition, more benefits of liberal education will be
shown in my later analysis by comparing it to education that is straightly vocational.
The word liberal originates from the Latin liberalis , meaning free men who have been taken out of
servitude. A liberal society can be considered one composed of autonomous people who are capable of

This capacity is achieved in relation to the pluralistic feature of liberal education. Similar to Charles
Bailey s opinion, she also stresses that minds should be liberated from the constraints of old habits and
customs. But the difference is her theory applies to a larger and international scale. It gives liberal
education a more significant meaning as cultivating humanity for world citizenship. I believe
demonstrating the cosmopolitan concept of liberal education is relatively important, especially in

Hawaii s Telescope Controversy Analysis
Shannon Hall wrote Hawaii s Telescope Controversy Is the Latest in a Long History of Land
Ownership Battles to highlight the ethics issue surrounding the use of a sacred location to further
science. The bases of this ethics issue begins in the 1950 1970, when the pursuit of the Moon,
technology and science trumped nearly all other concerns. During this time period allocations of
property were leased to astronomers in areas where locals had very little say. This occurred on the
peak of the largest mountain in the world, Mauna Kea. This mountain starts at the bottom of the ocean
floor and rises a staggering 33,500 ft, nearly a mile taller than Mt.Everest. The peak of the mountain is
a prime location for the most advanced telescopes in the world. ... Show more content on

She shares two main ideas highlighted within the article; That the TMT represents the latest
incarnation of Mauna Kea s legacy as a potent portal to the worlds beyond our own (Ferreira 3). The
other being the TMT and its predecessors are unwelcome aliens that have desecrated the once pristine
peak of the most sacred mountain on earth (Ferreira 4). Ferreira used this article to recounts her
personal experience with the Hawaiians and the TMT. Ferreira encountered a Dedicated group of
protesters hoping to prevent the construction of a 14th observatory (Ferreira 2) which prevented
Ferreira from gaining access to the construction ground of the TMT. This is not the first time in
Hawaii s history that protestors have had an impact upon the local astronomers. One large protest,
comprising of 700 protestors, made the road inaccessible by dislodging boulders onto it. Another
protest inspired a lone vandal to damage fiber optic cables that linked the telescopes, resulting in
50,000 dollars in repairs. These protests have been successful at gaining media press as well as

Theme Of Destruction In The Faerie Queene
Greed as an Excuse for Destruction in The Faerie Queene
Though the desire for excitement and adventure lives in everyone, even if the definition of such things
varies for every individual person, it is safe to say there are some who are more inclined to achieve
their desires rather than watch them pass by. This inclination is a driving force that can, and often
does, lead to disastrous or unnecessary outcomes. In watching Redcrosse in the first canto of Edmund
Spenser s, The Faerie Queene, it is seen that humankind can be selfish and inconsiderate of who or
what it may affect. So much so that a sheltered, nursing mother is ultimately killed when all she was
trying to do was protect herself and her young. In the end, it was not the beast s fault for her and her
young s peril; it is the fault of Redcrosse who, instead of listening to the words of his companions and
thinking through his next move carefully, decides to act upon his greed and desire for fulfillment. This
episode brings forth the idea that the error in a person s ways is not brought out by an inability to
decipher what they should do, but is otherwise dangerously expelled by the conscious decision to
ignore what is ethical and proper.
Throughout all the twists and turns trying to find their way back from whence they came, Una,
Redcrosse, and the dwarf stumble upon a path that brought them to a hollow cave, amid the thickest
woods (1.11.6 7). While Redcrosse does not know that the cave belongs to Errour at first,

As The Advent Of The Eighteenth Century Had Came Into...
As the advent of the eighteenth century had came into reality, profound developments in the realm of
the arts began to take hold. Romanticism, as the era was known, shifted the focus from rational
viewpoints to a feel of expressing ...freedom and revolution in their art and politics (Poets). In effect,
individuality began to take root in writing, an ideal not employed during the reign of Classicalism.
William Wordsworth, one of the numerous promulgators of this era, had set the stage, writing over the
complexity and nature of the world around him. One the most notable poems of Wordsworth are
London, 1802 , which describes the decadence of Great Britain from his point of view, with notable
focuses on its meaning and structure; Wordsworth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a matter of personal opinion, this poem seems peculiar with its prophetic undertones. To explain, a
social divide like the one that is depicted by Wordsworth has been taking place in the United
Kingdom. Brexit , a referendum to leave the European Union that passed during the summer of 2016,
mimics the nationalistic fervor that is exhibited in the poem, especially in phrasing such as ...raise us
up, return to us again... (Meyer 703). In addition, one can infer that since older generations of voters
swayed the decision, they too have a longing for a revived golden age, much like the plea that
Wordsworth has towards the likes of John Milton, who was before Wordsworth time. Of course, this
notable poem could not only be directed to the United Kingdom, but across the world as well. Across
the many systems of governments, an ideological shift towards the right on the political spectrum has
offered growth in terms of their own nation being the first of concern, and the rest of the world
second. Such a shift tries to revive the golden age that Wordsworth has longed desired. In essence, the
poem exhibits a striking resemblance to the world s current ideological shift.
William Wordsworth, living from 1770 1850, was renowned in his establishment of Romanticism,
with most of his works being shaped by his experiences. Having commenced his education at
Hawkshead Grammar School in 1779, he found his love for poetry while discovering how to express

Ice Fili cannot rely on their contractors to have the same level of motivation to constantly be
supplying retailers and thus cannot hope to compete against firms like Nestle with their existing
strategy. Essential to having a working distribution strategy is choosing where to distribute. Currently
Ice Fili focuses on supplying their products to kiosks, gastronoms, and minimarts. They seem to be
ignoring the rapidly growing trend in sales for larger quantities of product being sold in supermarkets.
Competitors such as Nestle have been supplying supermarkets internationally for quite some time and
thus have a distinct advantage over domestic Russian producers. This will serve as either a major
threat or a major opportunity for Ice Fili as this market is fairly new to Russia and has yet to be
divided up between competitors. Marketing Lack of ability to build up strong marketing mix is the
common and the most vulnerable point amongst Russian producers. Contrarily, foreign companies
have been showing off their matured marketing skills in the industry. This is attributable to the fact
that Russian managements are not used to building marketing strategy, having used to enjoy a time
without pressure of marketing under the state run economy system during Soviet era. Consequently
the company s marketing mix is uncoordinated to the extent that its brand identity is ambiguous. The
most critical thing that has blurred

Martin Luther Justification
Martin Luther wrestled over justification his whole life, it tore him apart and tore him away from the
church. He set out to challenge the belief of the church at the time. He came to the opinion, from his
study of the gospel and the early church, that justification comes from God s gift of grace, that only
must be accepted through faith. To have salvation, one must be justified in front of God. Luther
struggled with this in his early years. He felt that to be saved he had to be righteous, which caused
Luther an immense amount of guilt since he saw how unrighteous he was. However, soon he realized
to be justified the only thing one must do is to have faith in God and His Son s resurrection. There is
no amount of works that one could do to be justified; one must only have faith. Faith alone bring
righteousness and thus justification. Luther had a very strong belief that salvation comes from faith
alone. All that is needed to be justified in front of God is to have faith. Michael M. Ramos writes
Martin Luther believed that salvation depends not on human effort or merit but only on the freely
given grace of God, which is accepted in faith (35). Luther believes that first God extends grace,
which is the death of Jesus and the sending of the Holy Spirit. God reaches out to man and offers
grace. The grace is not because humans deserve it from merit or human accomplishments. God
extends grace because he is a righteous God. Now the only thing that humans must do to be justified

Analysis Of Katherine Mansfield s Miss Brill
In a piece of literary work there are many aspects that go along with having the reader be able to
engage with and understand the story the narrator is telling. Literary aspects like tone, symbolism and
setting is an extremely important part in understanding how and why a character acts. Knowing the
time and place a story is set in helps the reader understand what is going on, who the characters are,
and sets the reader up to understand the story that is about to unfold.
The setting of a story is a combination of place and time. In Katherine Mansfield s short story Miss
Brill, the place is set immediately, the blue sky powdered with gold and great spots of light like white
wine splashed over the Jardins Publiques (Mansfield,72). Form this the reader can gather that this
story is set in a public park in France. The narrator goes on to tell us it Sunday afternoon and the main
character, Miss Brill, likes to sit on a bench in this particular park and people watch. The time it takes
place is not specifically mentioned but one can gather that she is an old woman who is very fond of
her fox fur that is most likely not in fashion anymore. This is made explicit from the comments made
by the young couple sitting next to her, It s her fu fur which is so funny (Mansfield, 75).
The character of Miss Brill is somewhat difficult to understand because in a way she doesn t really
understand herself and in the story one can see that she used her fur, in a sense, to symbolize what her

Paul Baumer In All Quiet On The Western Front
When someone thinks of war, it is usually the uniform, the pride, that comes to mind. The aftermath of
war, to those who do not know much about it, will come as a surprise. In the movie, All Quiet on the
Western Front, the character, Paul Baumer, enters the war as an innocent person; with no idea on the
effects, it may have on him. In the beginning of the movie Paul is shown as an innocent eighteen year
old teenage boy who likes to draw and read. It is when he enters military training that his innocence
starts to wither away. During military training, Paul no longer does what he likes to do, and only
spends his time training on how to become a good German soldier. During training, Paul is tortured by
his training officer, Corporal Himmelstoss. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in a note that he wrote to his mother while on leave, Paul lets his mother know how he is
truly feeling. In the letter he directly says that he is no longer the same; the books he once enjoyed no
longer brought happiness to his mind, it was more of a reminder of who he was and was never going
to be again. The second example is also shown in the same scene where he is writing the letter to his
mother. During that scene Paul s desk is scattered with past drawings he had done. Those papers show
that drawing is something he either wanted to do as he got older or just something that he did during
his past time. This example shows that Paul is no longer the same, because during his time at the front
Paul is only shown drawing twice. The last example is at the end of the movie before Paul dies. Paul,
who took the position as leader after Kat died, was smoking a cigarette while checking on the other
soldiers. This example is an obvious change in Paul, who before had always politely declined the offer
of a cigarette saying that he doesn t like to smoke and would never take up the habit. In the movie,
from beginning to end, Paul shows a lot of chang. Paul shows a lot of change throughout the movie,
fortunately Paul was able to put everything aside for a moment and was able to die doing the thing he

The Importance Of Financial Support For Curriculum...
Financial Support for Curriculum Development
Money is what makes the world go around, or so that is what we are taught. There are many factors of
curriculum design that focus around the community, whether it is demographics or needs; these are
taken into consideration when determining a new nursing program. Then there are financial
obligations of the institution and program that influence the development and the maintenance of a
curriculum. In this paper the discussion will be based on the financial aspect of nursing programs.
Discussion
Financial support for curriculum development is an important undertaking while designing the
program. Keating discusses that there are financial factors such as making sure that the program is
realistic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This may include hospital chairman, public health officials, as well as stakeholders in the program
itself. By utilizing a committee of people with different backgrounds, the program will have an
approach that would be innovative in structure as well as funding.
In addition, Keating noted that a major resource for program development is at the federal level
through Health Resources and Services Administration, Division of Nursing (2015, p. 174). Keating
also discussed that there are mnay private foundations that allocate funds for nursing programs; these
include the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (2015). These
funds both public and private are important in funding nursing programs. Lastly, partnerships are seen
as a way to link health care education with health care agencies. In an article for Colorado Nurse, it
was noted that a program in Colorado explored a program design that partnered with a local hospital
to complete the necessary components to a BSN degree, with a savings of thirty five percent on tuition
(2016). So understanding where the monies are allocated is huge to maintaining a successful
curriculum and program. Keating also discussed that partnerships could assist program funding,
provide work study programs, and even allow students to earn academic credits (2015).
Nursing faculty plays an important role in funding for the program. Administrators and faculty staff

The Cause of Globalization
Garrett / CAUSES OF GLOBALIZATION COMPARATIVE POLITICAL STUDIES / August
September 2000 The most important causes of globalization differ among the three major components
of international market integration: trade, multinational production, and international finance. The
information technology revolution has made it very difficult for governments to control cross border
capital movements, even if they have political incentives to do so. Governments can still restrict the
multinationalization of production, but they have increasingly chosen to liberalize because of the
macroeconomic benefits. Although the one time Ricardian gains from freer trade are clear, whether
trade is good for growth in the medium term is less certain. In the case of ... Show more content on

What are the causal relationships among these three trends? The second perspective, technological
determinism, contends that the shrinkage of time and space has been so dramatic and so pervasive that
there is essentially nothing that can be done to stop it. According to this view, technological changes
have propelled international economic activity, and governments have been largely irrelevant. Thus,
policy liberalization should be understood as governments acknowledging the futility of trying to
resist globalization, rather than acting as a prime mover behind market integration. Management gurus
such as Ohmae (1995) have propounded this view, and political scientists such as Rosecrance (1999)
and Strange (1998) use it as the starting point of their analyses. The case for a technologically
determined view of globalization is far stronger with respect to international finance than to
multinational production or trade. In the era of 24 hour global trading in a seemingly limitless array of
financial instruments, governments can only hope marginally to influence control cross border liquid
capital movements. In contrast, though 2. See Drezner (1998) and Guillen (in press) for recent reviews

Piracy and plagiarism are both ways of stealing information from the internet. Piracy is stealing and

Netiquette are severe, in the sense that if correction is not brought about soon, society as a whole will

Business Process Management Case Study
1. INTRODUCTION:
About BPM
Jean Philip Pritchard Colin Armistead, (1999); described Business Process Management (BPM) as a
methodology designed to eliminate waste, customer driven and ensure increased productivity. The
main drivers of the approach in most organization are threat of competition, need to improve quality,
responsiveness of products and services, while the main benefits are the need to improve client

How Might An Organization s Culture And Structure Impact...
How might an organization s culture and structure impact work life balance? Work life balance has
become an increasingly important topic of interest. Creating a healthy work life balance has been
shown to increase success in both personal and professional arenas (Karakose et al., 2014).
Organizations are now modifying their structure and culture to accommodate for the extra emphasis
placed on this balance. An organization s structure either allows for or hinders this balance. Structure
consists of how the organization s policies, procedures, and processes and their effect on this balance.

If this balance is actively pursued by the organization, changes and implementations can be made to
align it with its balance goals. Elissa Tucker (2012) performed an analysis on companies considered
benchmarks for work life balance. Tucker found that best practices offer support for dual career
families, work at home policies and practices, and flexible hours. These common proceedings among
industry standards are aligned with one common theme: flexibility. An organization with flexibility in
regards to employees personal lives has an advantage in retaining and satisfying top talent. It is with
flexibility that organizations are able to accommodate the requests and concerns generated by work
life balance conflicts. Organizations that are able to serve effectively the requests of its employees do
not always resort to protocols. Finding a solution to an employee s needs may come from not having a
policy as much as having one. Flexibility is, in essence, the ability to find solutions. Today s work
environments are becoming more varied by the task and setting than ever before. An organization
structured in a way that provides alternative and flexible work schedules can have an extreme impact
on its employees work life balances. Life comes with many uncertainties. Employees have many
responsibilities and perform many roles. Flexible work

Community Poetry By Pablo Neruda
The Rationale
One of the aims of this project was to provide an opportunity for individuals, and more importantly
the oppressed, to liberate their minds. Language has immense power in liberating and creating
transformative social change. Freire (2005) states that language is never neutral and cannot exist
without thought (p. 96). Despite the fact, language can be used as a tool of control by the oppressors.
It also holds the ability to be used as a means of liberation. Using creative language, such as
contributing to the community poetry project, can grant individuals the ability to contemplate how
their individualistic modern selves fit within a greater community. This can lead to realization.
This would not be the first time that language, and more specifically poetry, has played an essential
role in liberation movements of the oppressed. A Chilean poet by the name of Pablo Neruda, for
instance, created works that were critical of society (Moran, 2009). Neruda s poetry gave a voice to a
population that felt ignored by their government and by the upper classes. The poems gave courage
and pride to the struggling working class (the oppressed). Chilean workers memorized his works by
heart and gathered in the streets to hear their poet (a poet of the people) recite his writings (Moran,
2009). Language, in this instance, had the ability to create a revolutionary spirit.
Many a great poet are not only critical of society, but of the injustices and inequitable relationships

Second Wave Feminism In Canada
After the French Revolution, the feminist movements have raised against domination of men and
patriarchal society in Europe. There is no equality for women in the common world. Many Canadian

Second Wave Feminist Movement in 1970s, feminist writing in Canada starts to emerge and plays an
active role in attacking the patriarchal society. Women have started raising their voice against
domestic violence and for their rights. Canadian women also have fought for peace in the country and
environmental issues. Aparna Basu states In the second phase of the women s movement. In Canada,

Analysis Of Courtly Love In The Knight s Tale
Courtly love is simply a knight flirting with a nobleman s wife or vice versa. But in this story, it is two
men flirting the same person. This obviously destroys the relationship between the two flirtatious
competitors, which is what happened in The Knight s Tale . They are prisoners of war, and locked in a
tower for eternity. When they see a beautiful woman, they both fall in love, escape, and fight each
other for her hand.
Palamon and Arcite are locked in a tower in athens by Theseus after surviving a battle. They are fairly
close cousins, but when both see a beautiful woman, Emily, in a nearby garden, they immediately fall
in love. Since love triangles never work, the cousins are blood thirsty for each other and try to kill
each other. They eventually find themselves in an arena ready to fight for the hand of Emily, winner
takes all. Each person prays to and gets the help of a certain god. The three main gods in this text are
venus, the god of fertility, mars, the god of war, and Diana, the god of chastity. Venus helped Palamon,
Mars helped Arcite, and Diana helped Emily. Venus and her temple are significant in this story
because she is the goddess of love and sex. This story deals with the different connections of the
flirters and the flirted.
In this Quote, the Narrator, the knight, is describing the temple of Venus in the arena.

Langston Hughes and Jesse B. Simple
Lansgton Hughes and Jesse B. Semple
In the early 1940s an African American writer by the name of Langston Hughes, who flourished
during the Harlem Renaissance in New York, had established a character in his short story writings
named Jesse B. Semple. Through these short stories he used this character to represent the black man
of his times. However the question remains, is Jesse B. Semple an accurate representation of the black
man of 1940s? This question can best be answered by looking at the conditions of society during that
time period, what the mind set of the black man in that era and comparing it to the representation that
Hughes created with Jesse B. Semple. Langston Hughes was born on February 1st, 1902 in Joplin,
Missouri. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His characteristics were that he had little formal education, but he had a lot of common sense and
could see the truth in many situations. In many ways Langston Hughes used Semple and his stories to
project the voice of all the black men of that time. Semple touched on issues such as racism,
interracial marriages and any other important issues that showed what it meant to be black during that
period. Hughes took every issue that he felt was necessary in the accurate representation of the Negro
man, and projected through the life of Semple. Hughes also took the name Semple and often called
him, Simple to emphasize how simple his life seemed at a glance, but in fact it was not simple at all.
The events Jesse B. Semple went through in his stories and his opinions and views of what was going
on in the world showed a certain irony that the society of that time had for them. With the stories of
Jesse B. Semple and his, simple life, he felt he had captured the mindset of every black man of the
1940s, because he felt most black men in 1940s were bound to the same characteristics which Semple
had.
Now fully understanding the life and inspirations of Langston Hughes, the society and mind set of the
black man in the 1940s, and the representation that Jesse B. Semple held for the black men of that
time, we can answer the question: Is Jesse B. Semple an accurate representation of the black man of

Malcolm X was a Symbol of the Civil Rights Movement
Misunderstood
Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.
Malcolm X
The 1920 s, or the Roaring Twenties , was a time in American history described as the Wild West .
Prohibition brought controversy and anarchy to the once civilized American society, with mobs and
gangs at the peak of their power with leaders such as Al Capone supplying alcohol and guns to the
public. This was also a time of heightened racial segregation, with boundaries being set such as only
white bathrooms and schools. Malcolm (X) Little was born in this time period, on the 19th of May,
1925, in Northeast Omaha (The Humanities of Malcolm X). Growing up in humble surroundings, with
the constant battle with segregation and hate, defined Malcolm as a person and as a leader. With
racism growing, Malcolm was influenced by civil rights leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr., who
came to be the symbol of the Civil Rights Movement. Racism became infamous in the 50 s because of
the rising popularity of a cult called the KKK, which was known to lynch and torture African
Americans, with no justice being brought upon the group (Malcolm X). All of this bigotry that
surrounded Malcolm is what made him have such a passion to become an educated scholar in the
ideas of racial segregation and hate. Though Malcolm X was a controversial figure in the eyes of the
public, his influence on American society did not go unnoticed, as Times Magazine named Malcolm X

Code Of Ethics And The National Education Association
Some things change, some things stay the same. The National Education Association (NEA) adopted a
code of ethics in 1975 (Strike Soltis 2009, p. viii). While this code still upholds many concerns that
educators face today, it is important to make sure that a code of ethics is a breathing document. It must
adapt and change with the changing of time. Strike and Soltis (2009) reference the code of ethics quite
regularly throughout the entire book. It is first introduced in full at the beginning of the book. Looking
over the code, it is important to remember that much has changed since it was first adopted. While all
of the code still applies, it is necessary to add to the code to make it acceptable for the twenty first
century.
The Code of Ethics, (as cited in Strike Soltis, 2009, p. x), Principle II article 7 states, [the educator]
Shall not knowingly make false or malicious statements about a colleague. A provision under the
statement should be, this includes undermining a colleague, faculty member, or a staff member while
in front of others or students. It is important that there is professionalism in the work place. The
ethical code, (as cited in Strike Soltis, 2009, p. x) truly covers students rights very well. In Principle I
Article 6 it states,
[The educator] Shall not on the basis of race, color, creed, sex, national origin, marital status, political

President Woodrow Wilson Needed to Make the World Safe for...
No man can sit down and withhold his hands from the warfare against wrong and get peace from his
acquiescence . President Woodrow Wilson could not maintain neutrality after a series of events that
threatened the interests of the US. Wilson knew that he would not have the support of a diverse
American public upon entering the war, so he came up with a plan. He designed the Committee on
Public Information to advertise pro war propaganda. He needed to convince the people that an
involvement in the war was needed to make the world safe for democracy . Propaganda was heavily
used to mobilize the public opinion of a united war effort, and it was also an attempt on homogenizing
a pluralistic nation. The positive effects of this use were it unified a heterogeneous society, and it was
able to get the Americans to invest their time and effort on the war. The negative effects of this were it
caused hatred to those who were of the enemies ancestry, and false advertising lead to a loss of many
innocent lives. When war erupted in Europe in 1914, the US adopted a policy of neutrality and
seclusion. This policy was favored by a vast majority of Americans, especially those of German and
Irish descent. The people of the United States were drawn from many nations, primarily from the
nations at war. The deficiency of public unity was the primary concern when America entered the war
on April 6, 1917. The Wilson Administration felt they needed to sway public opinion, because

Contributions In Bryan Sykes s The Seven Daughters Of Eve
Nearly everyone feels some desire to learn about their past and the origin of their ancestors. In Bryan
Sykes novel, The Seven Daughters of Eve, he takes his readers through the experiences he faced and
obstacles he overcame while piecing together the ancestral past of Europe. Ninety five percent of
living native Europeans can trace their past back to one of seven women, whom Sykes named Ursula,
Xenia, Helena, Velda, Tara, Katrine and Jasmine. He discovered these clan mothers by studying the
mutations found in the control region of mitochondrial DNA. People who had the same or very similar
mitochondrial DNA sequences were grouped together and in the end Sykes was left with seven
groups. The purpose and benefit of comparing mitochondrial DNA is that every person receives their
mitochondrial DNA from their mother. While recombination shuffles and changes the genes in
chromosomes, mitochondrial only changes through mutation, making it a reliable source for genetic
study. With mitochondrial DNA by his side, Sykes began to look for answers to some of the world s
greatests questions concerning ancestral origin and human colonization throughout the world.
Fortunately, Sykes scientific discoveries have benefited society as a whole in many ways. First of all,
Sykes research dismisses the existence of races. Instead of categorizing and grouping people by color,
origin or culture, he looks at the shared genetic information among people and links them to one
another accordingly. The

The Problem Of Down Syndrome
Down syndrome is a situation in which a person is born with too many copies of the twenty first DNA
segment. Every human being has a total of twenty three genetic factors, in which about fifty percent
are paternal. This disability has three causes which include Trisomy twenty one, Mosaic Down
syndrome, and Translocation Down syndrome with Trisomy twenty one being the primary. Many
people feel Down syndrome is hereditary but this carries a very small percent of proof. Down
syndrome does not affect each effected the same but studies and progression has proven to be less than
the average person. This makes it imperative for Teachers to find many different ways to make sure
that every child with DS is gaining the same amount of education as other children. This can be done

sacrifice creates trust in the power of love, (Morihei Ueshiba). This quote goes to show the steps in

courageousness, sets an example, and is never selfish or cowardly. A hero is a person who nobly puts
others before themselves. My parents are two people who exhibit their selflessness on a day to day

Analysis Of The Wedding At Cana
The artwork by Paolo Veronese were known for being created on large platforms and were centered on
religious topics. One notable works of his was The Wedding at Cana. This piece is a depiction of Jesus
first miracle as he turned water into wine for a wedding celebration. Based in Venice, Veronese s life
was heavily influenced by the Christian culture and was esteemed by the community and church
officials for his artistic abilities. As Veronese painted in the Mannerist style, The Wedding at Cana was
an asymmetrical painting with elegant principles. Also, Veronese heavily used vibrant colors to show
the richness of the subjects and to create light. This painting has lived through several interesting eras
and owners. Wars and political overlords dominated the geography of this painting and even damaged
the canvas. Since Veronese s style and talents were sought after, his work, religious and secular, was
mostly commissioned by patrons of the Venetian community. Veronese was a painter fond of the
Mannerist style in the High Renaissance era. As he aged, art and religion were important aspects of
Veronese s life. He fully embraced the traditions and regulations of his God and was even
commissioned because of his talent and devotion to the church. While a teenager, many church
officials in his area asked Veronese to paint important works of art in their churches. The Giustiniania
family esteemed Veronese so highly that they wanted him to paint inside of their Roman Catholic

Becoming A Teacher At A Private School
.
Research into this career has expanded my knowledge excessively. Such as, there is a process which
has steps to becoming a teacher. Step one includes, learning about the education system. Step two is
to, decide if teaching is right for you. Obviously teaching is not the correct job for someone who does
not like children. Step three, find a degree program. Step four, choose the correct specialty; in my case
art. Step five, gain classroom experience. Step six, qualify for certification. Then, step seven, get
hired. Which results in step eight and nine, professional expectations, benefits and teaching contracts.
Finally step ten, the first year of teaching.
The education system is broken up into public and private education, there is a large difference
between them. When attempting to become a teacher at a private school, it may not be required to
have certification for their state or a teaching degree. Private schools are independent of the local,
federal and state government and establish their own individual education system. Ages ranging from
kindergarteners to high school adults can attend these schools when accepted and charged a tuition.
On the other hand, public schools are offered by the government and the curriculum taught follows
national and state standards; which is checked on and insured by standardized testing. There is a limit
for age, from kindergarten to twelfth grade; and when students become enrolled, they stay until a
certain age or grade. There are a

The first thing, the need for patience, is important, because in order to make our dreams come true, we

Australia s Involvement In Vietnam
In July 1964 Australia sent troops to another war. No, not a war of trenches or prisoners, but a war of
close quarter combat, excessive mortar firing and the dreaded napalm. Yes Vietnam. This decision was
based on multiple reasons. The first reason was that we needed to stick to our treaty s, The South East
Asia treaty (SEATO) and ANZUS, the alliance of Australia, New Zealand and the United States. The
second reason was the fear of invasion from countries in the north that would be quickly taken over by
communism i.e. the domino theory. Australia had been sent a request from the South Vietnamese

The Vietnam War was the longest twentieth century conflict in which Australians participated in.
Overall there was no outcome to the conflict and over 4000 injured and 500 died. Australia joined

Theu.s. Housing And Urban Development Essay
The failure of the United States government to sufficiently care for their men and women in the
military can be seen in the number of homeless veterans. In fact, the U.S. Housing and Urban
development (H.U.D.) reports there are over 39,000 members of the armed services living on the
street (2016). The main causes of homelessness among veterans include lack of housing, jobs, and
access to healthcare (National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, n.d.). Veterans run a higher risk of
becoming homeless if they are: suffering from a mental illness or substance abuse problem; do not
have a support system; or have a disability (Ainslie Cooper, 2016).
Nature and Scope A homeless veteran homelessness is defined as a U.S. service members, with an
honorable discharge, who is unable to find and/or sustain reliable housing (Ainslie Cooper, 2016).
Many service men and women leave their military life to find it difficult to assimilate back into
civilian life which can result in homelessness. First, the occupations they held as soldiers do not
convey in the private sector (National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, n.d.). Second, many of the
men and women who have served our country suffer from PTSD and/or other mental health disorders,
substance abuse, or co occurring disorders (National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, n.d.). Last, they
lack support from their family, friends, and community (National Coalition for Homeless Veterans,
n.d.). Incidentally, homeless service

everyone about it. Also, Harrison goes into a studio where the was a concert for the ballerinas, he
walked up onto the stage and took off all his handicaps in front of everyone and he can t get anyone
else to do it so the conflict is man v.s. society.Lastly, he tells the musicians to start playing music and
they also took of their handicaps.

shotgun and shoots both Harrison and the ballerina. At last, the excitement is over and the musicians
were still playing but were told to stop and put their handicaps back on. During all of this Hazel was
watching it on the TV and George went to the kitchen to get a beer when Harrison was shot so when
he came back in the living room Hazel was crying and he asked her what happened but she could not
remember so they just went on with life not knowing what happened. Despite the effort Harrison was
dead and there was absolutely no hope in being free from society and the government because no one
else would do

Mental Health Intake Form Analysis
Mental Health Intake Form Critique
For this assignment I searched for a complete and thorough mental health intake form, and I feel that
for this assignment I found a very useful and detailed form that is also generic enough to be used in a
variety of settings.
A. When it comes to a mental health assessment, there are many questions that are needed to figure
out what a client s presenting problems are. According to Mattison, you need to be able to conduct a
systematic analysis of the dilemma in order to reach a decision on the what the client s needs are. In
the form that I found online, the basic questions are asked, such as name, date of birth, Gender and
ethnicity. Some of the following questions allow the mental health worker to evaluate ... Show more

Another concern is the amount of space to answer some of the questions. While some areas do give
adequate space for answers, there are some that could benefit from having some more space. One area
that I feel could use more room would be the suicide assessment section. I would also add more space
to the section asking what the problems are that the client is seeking help for. These are two areas that
can formulate lengthy responses, and rather than limit what the client reports, ample room should be
provided to allow for them to fully express their needs.
F. I do not feel that this intake form needs to be reformatted, because the flow of the questions is easy
to read and understand. I feel that the form starts out informal, with the typical intake form questions,
and then leads into the questions that have more to deal with the mental health aspects of an
individual. I feel that the different sections do a nice job at leading into each other, and that it gives the
client a gradual accent into the more serious and in depth

Jesse Owens Dbq
Sarah and Isabella: Jesse Owens 1936 Berlin Olympics, takes a stand. (Title) by Isabella Jebran and
Sarah Fenstermacher
Sarah: As Jesse Owens once said, We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into a
reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self discipline, and effort. This quote is
saying that before you can make your dreams come true, you must work hard and not stop until you
reach your dreams. This has to do with our topic because Jesse Owens showed these traits when he
was competing in the 1936 Olympics.
Isabella: Hitler believed that his race of people would beat African Americans in the Olympics. Jesse
Owens still raced in the Olympics and won four gold medals. It is important because no matter what ...

Someone told her to shut down all of the cameras and recordings because Jesse competing wasn t
important. He walked away and she told one of her workers who heard the whole conversation to keep
the cameras running because Jesse Owens will be important in history one day and the whole world
should be able to see it. The next event Jesse won a gold medal and she got it all on camera! I guess
we can say she also took a stand because she stood up to Hitler and the guy who told her to shut down
her cameras by saying Jesse will be important in history one day. Another reason would be running
her cameras when she wasn t supposed to and videotaping someone who wasn t

  • 2. Book Of Judges Research Paper Do you think doing what is right in our own eyes can cause dangerous results? To me, the answer is, yes. The reason that I came out with this answer is because of the book of Judges in the Bible, which tells us about the complete tragedy by Israel s mistakes, subjectivism, and the cycle of sin. Firstly, we can use a verse: In those days, Israel had no king and everyone did what was right in their own eyes , to explain why the book of Judges is a tragedy because it connects to the concept of subjectivism . Here, subjectivism means the idea that right and wrong are subjective or can depend on each individual s opinion (chapter 8 packet, p.3). This has dangerous results, because it means you are accepting evil things and it can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, despite any proclaimed parentage, the field has proceeded through multiple generations since the death of Freud himself, and the once influential name has now become a chapter in a psychology textbook, a stepping stone on the way to the names that are important now. True enough, certain speculations on Freud s part the Oedipus complex, his opinions on the healing properties of cocaine do seem dubious when examined through a modern lens. This remains true because the id... does not change with time which has also proven true for Peter in other instances (McLeod). With Ender gone, the Wiggin family moves away, much to Valentine s chagrin. She wonders how Ender is meant to come home, to find them, when home is no longer where it once was. Simultaneously, Valentine knows exactly why the family has moved: It was for Peter, so that living among trees and small animals, so that nature, in as raw a form as Mother and Father could conceive of it, might have a softening influence on their strange and frightening son (Card 151). • 4. Neptune Research Project Introduction: Neptune has always been my favorite planet because of its blue color and the fact that it s named after the god of the sea in Roman mythology. In class, the notes gave an overview of Neptune in section 12.4 The Jovian Planets and I became curious about what things scientists have discovered about Neptune and its moon, Triton. Science has evolved through the years and I wanted to learn about the discoveries that new technologies have brought to life. However, Wikipedia is not a reliable source because anyone can edit information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In class we learned about how Triton is the only major moon orbiting backwards in our solar system. Due to the motion of the tides, Triton s orbit is spiraling in towards Neptune, so that Triton s semi major axis is continuously decreasing. The moon Proteus semi major axis is continuously increasing at a much smaller rate. The expansion of the disturbing function leads to the problem that a small inner satellite can be strongly disturbed by Triton. The disturbing function is a method of calculating perturbations to an objects elliptical orbit by calculating the acceleration caused by the gravitational force of another body. Classical direct expansion is referred to an arbitrary plane, not an orbital plane and through algorithms derived in Ellis and Murray. The algorithms were changed due to the retrograde motion of Triton and based on the different numbers a new disturbing function was created for arbitrary inclination. Testing was done with current inclinations of the inner satellites of Neptune; however, assumptions were made due to the fact that the inclinations are very small. The future dynamics of the Neptune Triton system may originate a possible 3:1 mean motion resonance involving Triton and Proteus (Yokoyama, Nascimento and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If this is so, the Rf value of a polar amino acid will be relatively small to that of a non polar amino acid. Introduction: In order to identify whether an amino acid is polar (hydrophilic) or non polar (hydrophobic), the process of chromatography is used, which separates the amino acids and identifies them based on specific chemical traits given by the R groups. In his mausoleum contained a hidden one of the eighth wonders of the world Terracotta Army, which is discovered in 1974 by a farmer named Mr. Yang. The film mainly focused on the the first emperor era which was ruled by Qin Shi Huang, who unified China as one country, including its language and writing. He also is considered as one of the most crucial emperors in Chinese history because he burned many books that were written in my different languages, massacring the captured soldiers from war, which gave him the name of Slaughter. Qin Shi Huang was scared that his enemies would revenge him after his death, so he started to build his mausoleum while he was still emperor. Inside the mausoleum contained many kinds of statues like horses, birds, warriors, musician, acrobats and one of the famous objects, that archaeologists found is the Terracotta Army, which was built to protect Qin Shi Huang in the afterlife. On his scale of the mausoleum, modern people considered Qin Shi Huang had made a palace full of goods for himself after his death instead of just creating a simple mausoleum. A reason for this is because in Chinese culture treat death like birth ( Ian Bremner, 2014). Is like a Sita but not a real human. • 8. Charles Bailey And Martha Nussbaum This essay is conceived with the purpose of demonstrating personal understanding of liberal education as a result of assessing historic theory of Aristotle and comparing the contemporary theories of Charles Bailey and Martha Nussbaum. In addition, the applicable situations of liberal education and its governing principles will be discussed. Specifically, given the inevitable engagement of compulsory education, which is inherently authoritarian, some aspects of liberal education are limited, and full personal autonomy cannot be actualized. In this situation, liberal education would be less effective and less suitable due to the loss of freedom to some degree. However, the importance of liberal education is vital in breaking old cultural and religious world views to produce open minded students who are capable of critical thinking. In addition, more benefits of liberal education will be shown in my later analysis by comparing it to education that is straightly vocational. The word liberal originates from the Latin liberalis , meaning free men who have been taken out of servitude. A liberal society can be considered one composed of autonomous people who are capable of making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 10. Theme Of Destruction In The Faerie Queene Greed as an Excuse for Destruction in The Faerie Queene Though the desire for excitement and adventure lives in everyone, even if the definition of such things varies for every individual person, it is safe to say there are some who are more inclined to achieve their desires rather than watch them pass by. This inclination is a driving force that can, and often does, lead to disastrous or unnecessary outcomes. In watching Redcrosse in the first canto of Edmund Spenser s, The Faerie Queene, it is seen that humankind can be selfish and inconsiderate of who or what it may affect. So much so that a sheltered, nursing mother is ultimately killed when all she was trying to do was protect herself and her young. In the end, it was not the beast s fault for her and her young s peril; it is the fault of Redcrosse who, instead of listening to the words of his companions and thinking through his next move carefully, decides to act upon his greed and desire for fulfillment. This episode brings forth the idea that the error in a person s ways is not brought out by an inability to decipher what they should do, but is otherwise dangerously expelled by the conscious decision to ignore what is ethical and proper. Throughout all the twists and turns trying to find their way back from whence they came, Una, Redcrosse, and the dwarf stumble upon a path that brought them to a hollow cave, amid the thickest woods (1.11.6 7). Romanticism, as the era was known, shifted the focus from rational viewpoints to a feel of expressing ...freedom and revolution in their art and politics (Poets). In effect, individuality began to take root in writing, an ideal not employed during the reign of Classicalism. William Wordsworth, one of the numerous promulgators of this era, had set the stage, writing over the complexity and nature of the world around him. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a matter of personal opinion, this poem seems peculiar with its prophetic undertones. To explain, a social divide like the one that is depicted by Wordsworth has been taking place in the United Kingdom. Brexit , a referendum to leave the European Union that passed during the summer of 2016, mimics the nationalistic fervor that is exhibited in the poem, especially in phrasing such as ...raise us up, return to us again... (Meyer 703). In addition, one can infer that since older generations of voters swayed the decision, they too have a longing for a revived golden age, much like the plea that Wordsworth has towards the likes of John Milton, who was before Wordsworth time. Of course, this notable poem could not only be directed to the United Kingdom, but across the world as well. Across the many systems of governments, an ideological shift towards the right on the political spectrum has offered growth in terms of their own nation being the first of concern, and the rest of the world second. Such a shift tries to revive the golden age that Wordsworth has longed desired. In essence, the poem exhibits a striking resemblance to the world s current ideological shift. William Wordsworth, living from 1770 1850, was renowned in his establishment of Romanticism, with most of his works being shaped by his experiences. Ice Fili cannot rely on their contractors to have the same level of motivation to constantly be supplying retailers and thus cannot hope to compete against firms like Nestle with their existing strategy. Essential to having a working distribution strategy is choosing where to distribute. Currently Ice Fili focuses on supplying their products to kiosks, gastronoms, and minimarts. They seem to be ignoring the rapidly growing trend in sales for larger quantities of product being sold in supermarkets. Competitors such as Nestle have been supplying supermarkets internationally for quite some time and thus have a distinct advantage over domestic Russian producers. This will serve as either a major threat or a major opportunity for Ice Fili as this market is fairly new to Russia and has yet to be divided up between competitors. Marketing Lack of ability to build up strong marketing mix is the common and the most vulnerable point amongst Russian producers. • 13. Martin Luther Justification Martin Luther wrestled over justification his whole life, it tore him apart and tore him away from the church. He set out to challenge the belief of the church at the time. He came to the opinion, from his study of the gospel and the early church, that justification comes from God s gift of grace, that only must be accepted through faith. To have salvation, one must be justified in front of God. Luther struggled with this in his early years. He felt that to be saved he had to be righteous, which caused Luther an immense amount of guilt since he saw how unrighteous he was. However, soon he realized to be justified the only thing one must do is to have faith in God and His Son s resurrection. There is no amount of works that one could do to be justified; one must only have faith. Faith alone bring righteousness and thus justification. Luther had a very strong belief that salvation comes from faith alone. All that is needed to be justified in front of God is to have faith. Michael M. Ramos writes Martin Luther believed that salvation depends not on human effort or merit but only on the freely given grace of God, which is accepted in faith (35). Luther believes that first God extends grace, which is the death of Jesus and the sending of the Holy Spirit. God reaches out to man and offers grace. The grace is not because humans deserve it from merit or human accomplishments. God extends grace because he is a righteous God. Now the only thing that humans must do to be justified ... • 14. Analysis Of Katherine Mansfield s Miss Brill In a piece of literary work there are many aspects that go along with having the reader be able to engage with and understand the story the narrator is telling. Literary aspects like tone, symbolism and setting is an extremely important part in understanding how and why a character acts. Knowing the time and place a story is set in helps the reader understand what is going on, who the characters are, and sets the reader up to understand the story that is about to unfold. The setting of a story is a combination of place and time. In Katherine Mansfield s short story Miss Brill, the place is set immediately, the blue sky powdered with gold and great spots of light like white wine splashed over the Jardins Publiques (Mansfield,72). Form this the reader can gather that this story is set in a public park in France. The narrator goes on to tell us it Sunday afternoon and the main character, Miss Brill, likes to sit on a bench in this particular park and people watch. The time it takes place is not specifically mentioned but one can gather that she is an old woman who is very fond of her fox fur that is most likely not in fashion anymore. This is made explicit from the comments made by the young couple sitting next to her, It s her fu fur which is so funny (Mansfield, 75). The second example is also shown in the same scene where he is writing the letter to his mother. During that scene Paul s desk is scattered with past drawings he had done. Those papers show that drawing is something he either wanted to do as he got older or just something that he did during his past time. The Cause of Globalization Garrett / CAUSES OF GLOBALIZATION COMPARATIVE POLITICAL STUDIES / August September 2000 The most important causes of globalization differ among the three major components of international market integration: trade, multinational production, and international finance. The information technology revolution has made it very difficult for governments to control cross border capital movements, even if they have political incentives to do so. Governments can still restrict the multinationalization of production, but they have increasingly chosen to liberalize because of the macroeconomic benefits. What are the causal relationships among these three trends? The second perspective, technological determinism, contends that the shrinkage of time and space has been so dramatic and so pervasive that there is essentially nothing that can be done to stop it. According to this view, technological changes have propelled international economic activity, and governments have been largely irrelevant. Thus, policy liberalization should be understood as governments acknowledging the futility of trying to resist globalization, rather than acting as a prime mover behind market integration. Management gurus such as Ohmae (1995) have propounded this view, and political scientists such as Rosecrance (1999) and Strange (1998) use it as the starting point of their analyses. The case for a technologically determined view of globalization is far stronger with respect to international finance than to multinational production or trade. • 23. Community Poetry By Pablo Neruda The Rationale One of the aims of this project was to provide an opportunity for individuals, and more importantly the oppressed, to liberate their minds. Language has immense power in liberating and creating transformative social change. Freire (2005) states that language is never neutral and cannot exist without thought (p. 96). Despite the fact, language can be used as a tool of control by the oppressors. It also holds the ability to be used as a means of liberation. Using creative language, such as contributing to the community poetry project, can grant individuals the ability to contemplate how their individualistic modern selves fit within a greater community. This can lead to realization. This would not be the first time that language, and more specifically poetry, has played an essential role in liberation movements of the oppressed. A Chilean poet by the name of Pablo Neruda, for instance, created works that were critical of society (Moran, 2009). Neruda s poetry gave a voice to a population that felt ignored by their government and by the upper classes. The poems gave courage and pride to the struggling working class (the oppressed). Chilean workers memorized his works by heart and gathered in the streets to hear their poet (a poet of the people) recite his writings (Moran, 2009). Language, in this instance, had the ability to create a revolutionary spirit. Many a great poet are not only critical of society, but of the injustices and inequitable relationships ... Malcolm X The 1920 s, or the Roaring Twenties , was a time in American history described as the Wild West . Prohibition brought controversy and anarchy to the once civilized American society, with mobs and gangs at the peak of their power with leaders such as Al Capone supplying alcohol and guns to the public. This was also a time of heightened racial segregation, with boundaries being set such as only white bathrooms and schools. Malcolm (X) Little was born in this time period, on the 19th of May, 1925, in Northeast Omaha (The Humanities of Malcolm X). Growing up in humble surroundings, with the constant battle with segregation and hate, defined Malcolm as a person and as a leader. With racism growing, Malcolm was influenced by civil rights leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr., who came to be the symbol of the Civil Rights Movement. Racism became infamous in the 50 s because of the rising popularity of a cult called the KKK, which was known to lynch and torture African Americans, with no justice being brought upon the group (Malcolm X). All of this bigotry that surrounded Malcolm is what made him have such a passion to become an educated scholar in the ideas of racial segregation and hate. The National Education Association (NEA) adopted a code of ethics in 1975 (Strike Soltis 2009, p. viii). While this code still upholds many concerns that educators face today, it is important to make sure that a code of ethics is a breathing document. It must adapt and change with the changing of time. Strike and Soltis (2009) reference the code of ethics quite regularly throughout the entire book. It is first introduced in full at the beginning of the book. Looking over the code, it is important to remember that much has changed since it was first adopted. President Woodrow Wilson could not maintain neutrality after a series of events that threatened the interests of the US. Wilson knew that he would not have the support of a diverse American public upon entering the war, so he came up with a plan. He designed the Committee on Public Information to advertise pro war propaganda. He needed to convince the people that an involvement in the war was needed to make the world safe for democracy . Propaganda was heavily used to mobilize the public opinion of a united war effort, and it was also an attempt on homogenizing a pluralistic nation. The positive effects of this use were it unified a heterogeneous society, and it was able to get the Americans to invest their time and effort on the war. The negative effects of this were it caused hatred to those who were of the enemies ancestry, and false advertising lead to a loss of many innocent lives. When war erupted in Europe in 1914, the US adopted a policy of neutrality and seclusion. This policy was favored by a vast majority of Americans, especially those of German and Irish descent. In Bryan Sykes novel, The Seven Daughters of Eve, he takes his readers through the experiences he faced and obstacles he overcame while piecing together the ancestral past of Europe. Ninety five percent of living native Europeans can trace their past back to one of seven women, whom Sykes named Ursula, Xenia, Helena, Velda, Tara, Katrine and Jasmine. He discovered these clan mothers by studying the mutations found in the control region of mitochondrial DNA. People who had the same or very similar mitochondrial DNA sequences were grouped together and in the end Sykes was left with seven groups. The purpose and benefit of comparing mitochondrial DNA is that every person receives their mitochondrial DNA from their mother. While recombination shuffles and changes the genes in chromosomes, mitochondrial only changes through mutation, making it a reliable source for genetic study. With mitochondrial DNA by his side, Sykes began to look for answers to some of the world s greatests questions concerning ancestral origin and human colonization throughout the world. Fortunately, Sykes scientific discoveries have benefited society as a whole in many ways. First of all, Sykes research dismisses the existence of races. • 47. Mental Health Intake Form Analysis Mental Health Intake Form Critique For this assignment I searched for a complete and thorough mental health intake form, and I feel that for this assignment I found a very useful and detailed form that is also generic enough to be used in a variety of settings. A. When it comes to a mental health assessment, there are many questions that are needed to figure out what a client s presenting problems are. According to Mattison, you need to be able to conduct a systematic analysis of the dilemma in order to reach a decision on the what the client s needs are. In the form that I found online, the basic questions are asked, such as name, date of birth, Gender and ethnicity. Some of the following questions allow the mental health worker to evaluate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another concern is the amount of space to answer some of the questions. While some areas do give adequate space for answers, there are some that could benefit from having some more space. One area that I feel could use more room would be the suicide assessment section. I would also add more space to the section asking what the problems are that the client is seeking help for. These are two areas that can formulate lengthy responses, and rather than limit what the client reports, ample room should be provided to allow for them to fully express their needs. F. I do not feel that this intake form needs to be reformatted, because the flow of the questions is easy to read and understand. I feel that the form starts out informal, with the typical intake form questions, and then leads into the questions that have more to deal with the mental health aspects of an individual. I feel that the different sections do a nice job at leading into each other, and that it gives the client a gradual accent into the more serious and in depth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This quote is saying that before you can make your dreams come true, you must work hard and not stop until you reach your dreams. This has to do with our topic because Jesse Owens showed these traits when he was competing in the 1936 Olympics. Isabella: Hitler believed that his race of people would beat African Americans in the Olympics. Jesse Owens still raced in the Olympics and won four gold medals. It is important because no matter what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Someone told her to shut down all of the cameras and recordings because Jesse competing wasn t important.
