CASE ANALYSIS
The MOVE Disaster
Jack H. Nagel
Quality leadership is a telling sign of a successful organization. When given the opportunity to
guide or direct others, a leader is capable of drawing individuals or groups together to accomplish
certain goals. Given the responsibility to address a problem that had developed over a span of
many months concerning a cult (an unorthodox or misguided group of extremist) called MOVE,
newly elected Philadelphia Mayor, Wilson Goodedid not exercise his authority as the elected
leader by working meticulously with the other city officials and offices to shut down MOVE
operations and protect the city s residents from their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes the very qualities that make a leader successful in one situation can impede his ability
to rationally handle other situations. Understanding the reasoning behind why certain people
make certain decisions in certain situations will never be cut and dry because when viewed
through a psychological viewpoint, knowing the humanistic characteristics affecting decision
making is important in getting a clearer picture. Personally, I would have asked for counsel from
the closest of my working city officials and even someone higher up whom I knew and trusted. I
am not expected, as a human being, to have all the answers but I can make rational choices given
the possible outcomes. In becoming familiar now with the events surrounding the MOVE disaster,
I as a future public administrator, can possibly recognize more easily when difficult situations may
call for psychology and human relations understanding. This knowledge is a necessity for me
personally as a mode of self critique, and for others in positions of leadership and authority that I
may work closely with who may find themselves trapped but unable to recognize it. I consider this
to be another example of recognizing that knowledge is power and to be a successful leader,
knowing how to make the

Bill Cosby Biography
If I could add a person to the book of black history, it would be Bill Cosby. His importance to the
African American history is vastly underestimated. He s more than a comedian. He s more than an
entertainer. He is a trailblazer whose accomplishments will forever be encrypted into the African
American culture.
Bill Cosby was among the first blacks to rise in entertainment. He made millions laugh and his
passion ignited something more than just a new era of comedy. His shows were not just for a
comical view. It taught independence, individuality, equality, and educated the nation on the
importance of knowledge. For example, in his hit television broadcast The Cosby Show , it spoke to
racism and class in the 1980s. Bill Cosby did something ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

after time has exposed the truth to many white and African Americancommunities. It is because of
his consciousness to the system that many Americans are aware of the faults in our system. The
Pledge of Allegiance of the United States of America states One nation, under God, indivisible,
with liberty and justice for all. Be perspective of what goes on in our world. There is no liberty
and justice for all yet. Cosby raised awareness and is just as essential to black history timeline as
any other civil rights leader. Hopefully, in today s society, we will come to appreciate all the great

Persuasive Essay On Gun Shootings
n July 18, 1984, eight month Carlos Reyes and his mother, Jackie, was killed by an unemployed
father. Along with Carlos, 21 innocent people were killed at the McDonald s located in San
Ysidro, California. Carlos is the youngest victim to gun violence till this date. His death is the
result of the killer having easy access to a semiautomatic pistol and a shotgun (Berkowitz et al,
2017). Ryan Frazier, the 21 year old husband of Emily Frazier, shot himself with a semiautomatic
gun he bought from a gas station in November 2008 after confronting his teenage nightmare for a
lawsuit. He was molested by a priest and his first time using a gun was to end his own life,
despite having a whole future ahead of him (Drexle, 2016). Carlos and Ryan are one of the many
few that lose their lives from guns. They represent the stories of victims who have died after the
trigger was pulled. With guns being readily available, everyone has the licenses to kill at any point
in time, whether the pain is inflicted on others or themselves. Imagine if these were stories of your
own family members or friends. According to our Founding Fathers, our second amendment should
not be infringed and that people have the rights to keep and bear arms. However, because the
United States is the number one country with mass shootings and suicideis the number one cause of
gun deaths, it is necessary for our second amendment to be infringed and regulated in order to stop
more people from losing their lives. Pro gun

Comparing Tornadoes And Hurricanes
Whoa, my house just vanished. Hurricane and tornadoes can happen all over the world. Tornadoes
and hurricanes can also be very dangerous. Tornadoes mostly happen on dry land where all the
warm. Hurricanes and tornadoes come in many sizes, cost lots of money because of damages, and
require you to take shelter.
To begin with, the first thing is the size. A tornadocan get up to 300 miles wide. A hurricane can
get up to 2.5 miles wide. They both can get up to 70 feet tall. Last but not least the both have
categorize the tornadoes categories are C1 C5 and the hurricanes are F0 F6. A hurricane is also
bigger than a tornado.
Addition, the second one is the cost of a hurricane and tornado s destruction. A tornado causes less

Some of the world s cutest and most adored creatures, penguins, recently began to rapidly decrease
due to the careless actions of humans. When many people think of penguins they think of the cute,
small black and white bird, found at the zoo or in Antarctica. However, these beautiful creatures
come in all different sizes and shapes and there s an estimated 17 species of penguins which all
vary in different ways. For example, depending on their species one possibly weighs 2 pounds and
another weighs 90 pounds. This adorable creature s population faces a huge threat of going extinct,
in particular the emperor penguin species, and the credit goes to us. The population ... Show more

Even if it seems like something small, the population drop of krill created a much bigger effect.
The dropping of the krill population led to a food shortage for the penguins, leading to a
population drop of their own. Another problem, the ice melting due to climate change. Climate
change, a leading effect, caused by the greenhouse effect which refers to warming that happens
when heat gets trapped by the atmosphere that radiates from Earth towards space. Some gases

too little ice and the colony gets more exposed and vulnerable to predation, (Leifert). This leads
to the penguins having less space to stay concealed from predators such as animals like skuas,
kelp gulls, and giant petrels. These predators come after the chicks especially as they cannot
defend themselves. This lack of ice leading to less protection making the innocent penguins more
vulnerable to predators. Another cause, the excessive fishing and the careless efforts to enforce
safety while doing so. Fishing efforts over the past couple of years significantly increased. The
penguin s prey such as anchovy and sardine stocks get caught decreasing the penguin s food
supply. According to Science Daily, As fishing efforts around the globe have multiplied several
fold over the last few decades, penguins are now competing with people for enough food, (Science

The Prestigious Life of Edward Angle
During the years of 1855 through 1930, Edward Hartley, the mind behind orthodontics we know
today, was documented by those around him. Picking up all of his achievements, faults,
techniques, anything there was needed to know about him. A farm boy with an idea that would
change lives and the way things were. Angle devoted his life designing, defining and refining
orthodontic techniques that are still used to the present day. Would you want your teeth to be
realigned in the 1850 s? Who would go for a mouth full of metal and in some cases a metal head
piece? Ask the same question for today s society; everyone. The study of orthodontics has changed
the lives of many people today and is a highly preferred privilege we have today.
Over four million people in the U.S. wear braces, and 25 percent of these individuals are adults. If
you have a misaligned jaw or out of place teeth, be sure to ask your dentist if braces are right for
you. (A Biographical Portrait of Edward Hartley Angle, Nov. 6)

Influence Of Aerodynamics On Subaru Sports Sedan Race Car
When a body moves with high velocity at that moment aerodynamics forces such as drag, lift (or

aerodynamics principles are applied in every kind of design or structures such as automobiles,

Juxtaposition In Ideas
The foil poems The Chimney Sweeper Songs of Innocence and The Chimney Sweeper Songs of
Experience by William Blake show a clear juxtaposition in ideas. Songs of Innocence, shows an
idyllic view of religion, with a faithful boy entrusting his future to a higher power. In contrast, the
second poem, Songs of Experience, shows a cynical view of religion with no hope for a better
future. As a result of these ideas, the author conveys a sense of hopelessness for the future of these
children, regardless of their ideals. Through tone and imagery, William Blakeshows the hypocrisy of
religion in relation to child labor during the eighteenth century.
The tones in each of the respective poems show a contrasting view point of life. The naГЇve tone of

Throughout Songs of innocence the rhyme scheme AABB CCDD and continues where two lines
which rhyme before continuing to the next set. This has the effect of making the poem seem
surreal or unrealistic, since it gives the poem a fluid and sing song like rhythm. The rhyme
underscores the main idea of the subject matter of the poem by showing that the dream which
Tom Dacre has and the hope that the narrator gains as a result of this dream, are purely fantasy.
As the poem continues, the rhymes in the last stanza are not the same complete rhymes as the
ones that were used in the beginning part of the poem. The words dark (l. 21) and work (l.22)
along warm (l.23) and harm (l.24) are only half rhymes, again revealing the hope that the boys
have that their hard work will be rewarded, is only an illusion. Similarly, The Chimney Sweeper
Songs of Experience, uses AABB in the first stanza. This is done to show a clear dichotomy
between the two speakers at the beginning of the poem. However, as the poem progresses, the
rhyme scheme changes to CACA DEDE. As a result of the alternating lines in the poem, the
fanatical element which was exhibited in the first poem is not present. The alternating lines are able
to the conflicting ideas of the young chimney sweeper. The chimney sweeper describes his
situation, saying that he believes his parents made him begin chimney sweeping because they

Did the USA need to drop bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945? On the 6th of August 1945,
the US dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima,1ushering in the nuclear age.
The bomb caused the deaths of over 100,000 people,2with the bulk of the destruction pertaining to

US was not, however, to cause complete annihilation of the Japanese, but to seize the fierce

The plainchants Viderunt Omnes by Anonymous and O viridissima virga by Hildegard of
Bingen are both compositions that were created during the Medieval Age, also known as the

as music of worship. Although these two songs are known as plainchants, meaning they are
usually monophonic and the melody usually does not change, both pieces have many similarities
and differences. In my personal opinion, I believe that these two piece are more different than
they are similar. For example, Viderunt Omnes is polyphonic for a majority of its duration
because it sounds to be sung in unison by a choir and not by a singular person. O viridissima virga

Nuclear Power in Australia’s Energy Future Essays
Since its discovery in the late 19th century, nuclear energy has been used in a diversity of areas
such as atomic bombs, medicine, reducing pollution and food irradiation (Gupta, 2012).
However, one of the biggest outcomes since this discovery is nuclear energy generation. This
subject is largely controversial as it has many pros and cons. It is considered to be a more eco
friendly alternative source of electricity, as it emits less carbon emissions than coalfired power
stations, for example. Yet there still an environmental risk provided by the radio active waste and
its inability to be disposed of for 100,000 years (Phillips, 2012). Today in Australia there are no

Professor Per Peterson from the Department of Nuclear Engineering says, It s difficult for me to
see how we can transition away from fossil fuels and not use significant amounts of nuclear
energy (Phillips, 2012). Many argue that renewable sources of energy such as solar and wind
should be implemented instead of nuclear energy as they too produce no air pollution.
However, modern society requires a reliable base load of electricity which renewables are not
equipped to provide. In Australia there are limited sources that could potentially supply a
suitable base load . They include coal and gas (which produce CO2 emissions) geothermal,
hydro (which is limited due to the lack of water), developing technology and nuclear energy
(Krieg, 2014). Renewable sources of energy also prove to be a problem as they are too fickle to
provide base load power to a nation, as they depend on intermittent things such as weather and
seasons, whereas nuclear power is available constantly whilst being a cleaner source of power.
An example of the environmental success nuclear energy has provided is France in the 1970s
and 1980s. The country switched from using fossil fuels and instead used nuclear energy to
supply 78% of its electricity (see figure 3). This in turn lowered the country s greenhouse
emissions by approximately 2% each year since. No accidents have ever occurred at any of France
s power plants (Biello, 2013).

Why Is Technology Important In Ww2
During many wars, technology that was developed for specific wartime needs has been integrated
to everyday use but, compared to other wars, World War 2 had the largest effect of the technology
we use today. While a lot of countries decided to go with quality over quantity, the United States
decided to go with quantity over quality. While they decided to go with quantity over quality, their
technologywas still good for that time. Technology played a major role during World War
2, from
communications to transmit information across the battlefield, to aircraft and chemical weapons
bombing, to technologies that we still use to this day.
America was developing new technology and improving on technologies they already had
throughout the war. As stated above, technology played a major role during World War 2, so
getting ahead of the enemy was key to winning the war. One of the key technologies in World War 2
was their logistics and communications. America used electronic computers for ballistics and
trajectory calculators. Without these computers s U.S. might not have been able to hit their targets
with the same precision. Their trajectory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mercury Program. These developments led to the lunar missions, known as the Apollo Program.
One of the biggest developments of World War 2 was the Manhattan project, in which we

new found understanding of nuclear fission, we are able to create reactors to produce energy

Plato s Euthyphro Paradox
As I read through Plato s Euthyphro, I notice a remarkable conflict regarding definitions of
perceptions. This simply means, that Socrates questions Euthyphro in order to find the objective
meaning, and by doing so he creates an ongoing conflict amongst subjective meaning and objective
meaning. He questions, if it is probable to have an objective and, is an objective a definition of an
object or idea? The questions that Socratespresents concerning this particular idea generates a term
known as a, EuthyphroParadox. For an example, there is a sports car that you have an opportunity
to buy at an affordable price, however all of the other customers at the car dealership feel the same
way that you feel about this particular vehicle. You must learn... Show more content on

Socrates argues that Euthyphro s lack of the true meaning of the term piety pushes forth a
contradictory cycle within itself. In fact the definition that Euthyphro gave was only showing us
an example of a pious act. Euthyphro failed to give a distinguishing meaning as to, what is
piety? This gives inside to Euthyphro s first contradiction from the lack of evidence. Euthyphro
mentions that in his opinion on pious saying that it is irrelevant in its nature. To demonstrate
this Socrates states that he feels as though most men assume that they were correct despite the
lack of vital evidence to prove their case. That being said this argument cannot be seen in terms
of morality. For an example, if one were to carry out this argument any further, an act of
kindness is morally good in God s eyes. The contradictions comes in to play when people
question as to why God considers such acts as this good. This perspective of thinking has lead
people to believe that morality is necessary to be arbitrarily assigned by God, than being good in
itself therefore making it moral. In this particular case, if the importance of morality and goodness
within itself is considered subjective, this is because one cannot differentiate God s aspect on
morality and what is considered objectively moral. That being said, one simply cannot differentiate
what is objective pious and what God s aspect on pious. Both Socrates and Euthyphro find it very
problematic in identifying the difference between being loved by God(s) and piety. In today s
society, most would use the many code of ethics, and use them independently apart from

Echo And Narcissus Analysis
Comparing Tragedies: Echo vs. Narcissus
Ovid displays an impressive grasp of language in his poem Narcissus and Echo which allows him
to address many classic themes, the chief of these being the theme of unfulfilled love and the
suffering it brings. The most notable instances of this type of suffering are Echo and Narcissus
transformations; Echo withers away until she is naught but a voice, and Narcissus is trapped in
place until he eventually transforms into a flower. Upon finishing this tale, the reader is left with
much to consider, including the question: which fate is worse? Of course, both fates are certainly
cruel, but they given the specific themes and diction that Ovid uses when describing each pseudo
death, Echo s punishment seems far less dehumanizing than Narcisssus ; whereas Narcissus is
completely objectified by his transformation into a beautiful flower, Echo at least maintains the
power of voice.
Given Ovid s diction during Echo s introduction, it is clear that her fate is directly tied to the
power of speech and voice. Ovid calls her resounding Echo as if this is her title, and the use of
the word resounding is very important (line 26). Why not call her loud or huge or any of the
other synonyms tied to the word resounding ? One can only assume that Ovid wanted to make
use of the word s other definition: resonant and reverberant. By essentially introducing her as
Reverberant Echo and mentioning that her speech was strange , Ovid immediately alerts the
reader to what is both Echo s downfall and her saving grace: Words have power. Echo over uses
words in her favor when she d talk and talk,/ to give her sister nymphs just enough/ time to slip
away before they were found out, by Juno (lines 38 40), and eventually, her speech turns on her
when she is able to do little more than repeat Narcissus words back to him despite how much she
wishes to sing his praises. In the end, however, Echo s final punishment is to become no more than
a voice, no more than a literal echo. Surely, this fate is cruel, but perhaps it is not completely
unforgiving; though it is very little consolation, Echo at least maintains the power of voice, and
however diluted this power might be, Ovid writes,

Essay about Architecture and Insecurity
Architecture and Insecurity An Analysis of Architecture as Metapho in WG Sebald s Austerlitz
Deyan Sudjic, journalist for the New York Times, writes in his discussion of the potential Freedom
Tower meant to replace the cavernous holes that mark where the twin towers once stood:
Clearly, there is a psychological parallel between making a mark on the landscape and the
exercise of political power...both depend on the imposition of will...and among the
dictatorial...there is an inherent appeal in seeing one s worldview confirmed by reducing entire

In actuality, as revealed through viewpoint of the character Austerlitz, the 19th century
encapsulated the architectural style of the capitalist era...the compulsive sense of order and the
tendency towards monumentalism evident in law courts and penal institutions, railway stations
and stock exchanges, opera houses and lunatic asylums, and the dwelling build to rectangular grid
patterns for the labor force (33). The Palace of Justice in Brussels presents a perfect example of
Imperialist Architecture.
Built in the 1880s at the insistence of Brussels bourgeoisie, the Palace of Justice is the largest
accumulation of stone blocks anywhere in Europe (29). Complete with hallways that lead nowhere,
staircases that fall apart at the touch, and rooms that cannot be entered (quite literally, there are no
doors rooms without entry points are on blueprints and are simply walled off during construction),
the Palace symbolically represents the complicated nonsense of the imperial Europe. At a time
when the major powers of Europe were competing with one another for colonies, raw materials for
their newly industrialized factories, and subjects from which to collect taxes, buildings like the
Palace of Justice sprung up everywhere in an attempt to impress and terrify. Rosalyn Deutsche notes

Relationship between Mankind and Our Ecosystems
Our society is concerned about the condition and the relationship between mankind and our

observed, even if it requires altering certain human progress to stop within bounds with the physical
and biological abilities of an ecosystem. Our thinking today about renewable energyhas been fed to
us by poor thoughts and misinterpitation of our recent history. An era of industrialization during
the nineteenth century was dominated by coal later turning to oil or any other type of natural
power. One of the final factors in not switching to renewable energy as fast as we would like to
see is the economics for large corporation and nations to stop using fossil fuels. This would be
devastating to their investments. America is not ready for that. Even though America and the rest
of the world are still quiet dependent on fossil fuels the need for alternative energy is out there.

The Analysis of Mozart s Dies Irae Essay
Megan Stewart
Theory III: MUSI 2311
Dr. Brian Bondari
December 13, 2010
The Analysis of Mozart s Dies Irae The final composition of Mozart, The Requiem mass in D
Minor, containing Dies Irae, is known to be one of his most powerful and commended works.
This piece was composed in 1791 while Mozart was, unfortunately, on his death bed. However, he
was unable to complete it so it was then passed on to his assistant and later finished by this man.
The choral work can be very dark, for it concerns the Day of Wrath, when God will return to this
earth and pass judgment on all creatures that remain, either granting them salvation or perpetual
damnation to hell. This theme alone provides one with fear, thus it can be assumed that even ...

In two different cases, relatively close together in the music, he uses a secondary dominant to
embellish the regularity of the effect. However, in these two different cases, the chordsshift slightly,
as shown in measures 52 and 55, pictured below. V/IV I V6/5/IV IV Despite the fact that the V/IV
is basically a I7 chord, theory students of modern teachings have been taught that the chord after
the slash mark of the secondary dominant is where the secondary dominant will lead to. So,
creating a simple I chord in the figure above might be seen as a little misleading. His is seen as
more traditional in the sense of good music theory practice, but regarding that it is Mozart s
piece, it is safe to say that both will work just fine. Mozart likes to add color to his compositions
by also using Neapolitan chords. He effectively uses them as both a passing function as well as a
neighboring function. In the example provided above, Mozart cleanly exercises the passing rule
of the Neapolitan 6th chord. Refer to Figure 2, measures 36 and 37: D Minor: V7 i i N6 ( in
passing function) в—¦7 Mozart clearly integrates the Neapolitan chord correctly, in the practical
theory sense, and also very well in the application of the passing function. Although the

The Internet Web On An Interruption And Disruption Model
The Internet Web 1.0 worked on an interruption/disruption model. For example, television
suddenly disrupts your scheduled programming to provide paid commercials from sponsors. In
today s world with Web 2.0, the current web environment is an interactive social system
(Solomon, 2015, Unit 1). People are constantly connected through their PCs, phones, and tablets.
They can connect their TVs to the Internet now for streaming video. Audio can be downloaded
through iTunes and other such platforms with the click of a button. Looking to the future,
wearable technology is becoming a trend. Fitbits can clip on your clothes or strap to you wrist
to track your activity for the day and give data for how many calories you should be consuming
based on that amount of exercise. Google has dabbled in wearable technology with Google Glass.
These glasses have a processor that can project your apps into the lens. Apple just debuted their
iWatch last week, which was reported as costing between about $400 and $17,000. People will pay
for this technology, which keeps them connected to their home, work, and social network at all
times.
Web 2.0 has created a Horizontal Revolution (Solomon, 2015, Unit 1). Traditional media uses a top
down, or vertical, approach. The organization decides on the marketing message it would like to
disseminate, and through traditional marking channels they distribute that particular message.
However, in this Horizontal Revolution, messages about companies and their

Gender Bias In The Workplace
Sexism women still face gender bias in the workplace. The stereotype e.g. women more likely to
take a housekeeping job, secretarial tasks or even be look at taking notes at a college meeting.
Ageism it s been known that because of a person age, he/she been discriminated against for job
advancement. Race refers to the practice of treating people differently because of the race. I have
personally heard on my past job that the manager is looking to hire a Caucasian person, yes this
still exists in toady time. Discrimination will always be a around it will take a miracle for this to
come to an end not only within the workplace.
Problems
The problem with feminist theory is gender free morality may be impossible. In today era, many
people don t agree that women should have equal pay as men within the work place. Even though
laws have been passed to equal pay, however when it comes to equal pay a lot of company still don
t comply with this ruling.
Model
The feminist model is described as conflict resolution. Feminist model aims to resolve inequality
on multiple levels of existence. In addition, feminist model of conflict determination identifies
sources of conflict as results of oppression prolonged by dominant. e.g. if a male and a female
walk over to the automotive service department to get their car work on, and the worker come out
and automatic address the male with the question, how may I help you , the worker is looking at
the male as the dominant person.

Leonard Pitts Jr
Take the Time to Read a Book
Leonard Pitts, Jr. says, I am not alone. He continues, There are at least two of us who have
forgotten how to read. He doesn t mean that people have forgotten how to read; rather people have
forgotten how to become one with the text. There is more than one person who feels that
concentration becomes blurred when the text in front of one requires full attention. Short ads and
topics one finds interesting are usually easier to read than intellectual books that are imposed on
one. It s a little funny, isn t it?
I liked this article because I identify myself with it. I often begin reading a paragraph and my brain
begins to move away from what my eyes are reading. The problem is that I don t realize it until I
get to the end of the page. Like Pitts, I have found myself drifting away or unable to sit down to
read material that my job requires me to study and discuss.

However, I want to achieve the same results Pitts did when he read a paper book titled What

How Carbon Is Formed
Carbon, this element has a lot of information to offer. By the end of this essay you will only
know a handful of information on carbon. This essay will be talking about where carbon is
located on the table, when and who discovered carbon, and how carbon can be used. Carbon is
located in group 14 of the Periodic Table of Elements. The classification of Carbonis a non metal.
The name carbon comes from the Latin name carbo for coal and charcoal. The heaviest carbon
isotope os C 13, this has seven neutrons. Both C 12 and C 13, these are called stable isotopes,
because they do not decay into other forms or elements over time. The carbon C 14 is a rare
isotope that contains eight neutrons in its nucleus. C 14 is unstable and radioactive unlike C 12
and C 13. The person who officially discovered carbon is unknown. However, carbon has been
around since ancient times. Of course the people of ancient times did not know that carbon was
apart of the Periodic Table of Elements. The reason why the person who discovered carbon is
unknown is, because carbon has been around for so long that there is no record of who actually

Impacts Of The Shikoku Pilgrimage
Shikoku Pilgrimage
Is the Omairingu project inspiring or ridiculous?
Introduction
The Shikoku Henro is a Buddhist Pilgrimage visiting eighty eight Buddhist Temples in Shikoku to
commemorate one of the most famous Japanese Buddhist Monks KЕ«kai as known as KЕЌbЕЌ
Daishi. This pilgrimage is a training bringing both physical and spiritual benefits to pilgrims
through its intensive process. Nevertheless, due to the consequences of rapid modernization in
Japan, cultural practices like Shikoku Henro are at threats of erosion because of the increasing
concentration of Japanese people on fulfilling material life rather than enriching spiritual
experience. Facing challenges of being eternally forgotten, Shikoku Pilgrimage needs a greater
dynamic to continue preserving its quintessence. One of the possible solutions that were already
implemented is giving birth to the Omairingu manga, anime and cosplay pilgrimage in attempts to
reintroduce this holy practice in a more pop cultural approach. However, the Omairingu concept is
quite controversial among traditional pilgrims and pop culture fans on how much is too much to

Our society is in danger of nuclear fission due to all the natural and unnatural events happening

Nuclear reactors also have harmful effects on local populations when they are mining for uranium

A Good Strategy Drives Business
A good strategy drives business. In some previous definition, the role of a strategist has been
relevant to outsourced specialists and analytic number crunchers. Hence, the main responsibility
of a leader is more likely to be a theory and principle, wh0ich is devised by MBAs and

continuously modify and maintain rather than finishing in once. Put simply, the strategy needs to

Furthermore, the strategy, as a heart and inspiration in a company, should be constantly upgraded,
and the leaders have to recognize the intimate relevance between strategy and leadership. In the
book, the author also redefines that a good strategy is never frozen and should be implemented over
time. Accordingly, leaders play an important role in investigating suitable strategies for their
companies, and just like Montgomery mentions in the book that leader is the one who must
shepherd this ongoing process, must stand watch, identify and weigh, decide and move, time and

strategies, a leader must be placed in a strategist position in order to bring the companies and
organizations to achieve its long term business success. To emphasize the significance of business
strategy, Montgomery uses Masco as a representative example to verify her standpoint. The

Cultural Stereotypes In When Worlds Collide

A person s background influences how they view the world, but outlying factors contribute to
their outlook on different aspects of society as well. While the things that you were raised with

In contrast, it is true that a person s viewpoint on the world can be affected by a single element.
A group of highly sheltered people are more likely to view life and society the same way because
they have no outside information to provide an outlook into anything else in the more advanced
world. However, in civilized society, everyone is free to determine their own ways of thinking
and have their own outlooks on civilization. Their outlooks are partially determined by their
heritage, such as the way they overall live their life. Other factors that have an effect on civilized

Couples Therapy for Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse
As many as one in three females have experienced sexual abuse by the age of 18 (Russell, 1986).
Many survivors of childhood sexual abuse (CSA) experience negative psychological symptoms
(Browne Finkelhor, 1986; Kendall Tackett, Williams, L. M., Finkelhor, 1993). These women may
later in life engage in relationships. The negative impact of sexual abuse could result in challenges
faced by the relationship due to shame and difficulty with trust (Kochka Carolan, 2002; MacIntosh
Johnson, 2008). CSA may also result in sexual challenges for the couple (Kochka Carolan, 2002).

The researchers analyzed the results with cross tabulation, chi square statistics, analysis of variance,
and multiple regression. Most of the subjects were able to respond to sexual stimulation and reach
orgasm but did not enjoy it. The women who perceived themselves to be adjusted to their abuse still
had some sexual dysfunction.
Feinauer suggested several implications for practice from this study. She proposed that therapists
who work with couples experiencing difficulty with intimacy of both sexual and emotional nature
should consider sexual abuse history of the partners involved because without handling the sexual
abuse related issues , the intervention of therapy will not be very effective. She stated that if the
CSA survivor continued to believe and act out the idea that they have to perform sexually in order
to get love, acceptance, security, then they cannot participate in sexually intimate relationships.
Feinauer referenced other literature and previous studies of her own to add to the results and
concluded that women who have been sexually abused should: deal with their unresolved anger
and betrayal around the abuse; accept that they are not at fault for the abuse; externalize the fault
to the perpetrator so they can discontinue to have worry and fear of all men; and see their partner
as separate from the abuser so they can have an easier time in solving their sexual problems. She

Essay about High Stakes Testing
High Stakes Testing

standards not federal government standards, but national standards, representing what all our
students must know to succeed in the knowledge economy of the twenty first century (http:/
/books.nap.edu/books/0309062802/html/13.html). The way to succeed in this journey is through
standardized testing that results in consequences for teachers and students.
Throughout this paper, I will be discussing how important high stakes testing is to our country.

High stakes testing also improves students achievement. Eugene Watts, Ohio s State Senator,
discusses a new exam that will be required for high school graduation starting in September of
2004. It is a tribute to the process we have established that Ohio was one of only three states to
receive a grade of A by the Fordman Foundation in its appraisal of math standards in 1998. Ohio s
model math standards also have the highest rating by the American Federation of Teachers and a
grade of B+ for the level of rigor in a review of state standards in 1998 by the Council of Basic
Education. Before proficiency testing, Ohio schools were graduating students with second grade
math skills and fourth grade reading levels (http://www.enc.org/topics/ assessment/testing

they not only lived up to the standards, they surpassed them! This is the kind of attitude all students
need to have towards school, and high stakes testing is just the incentive they need. The AIMS test
in Arizona will be required to graduate in the year 2008, and the Arizona Department of Education

and electronic communications without a warrant. Similarly, the Electronic Communications
Privacy Act protects wire, oral, and electronic communications while in transit (Franklin). Some
may wonder how the government is able to override such laws that come to make America what it

Anything is possible in order to increase national security and eliminate any threats.
Not to mention that as long as participants of CISPA exchange information with good intentions,

not focus on anything else. But I was stubborn. I told myself I could push through it; that I had to
push through it. Nationals were only two weeks away. I could not afford to lose any time...
I was torn. On one hand, I had hope that maybe if I saw a doctor, they could fix it and ease the
pain. On the other, I was scared. The risk that they would pull me out of dance and not let me
compete at nationals seemed to outweigh the benefits. It was my dance teacher that finally
convinced me to see a doctor.
I remember feeling dazed walking into the hospital; everything was a blur yet seemed to happen in
slow motion. And the smell. It was overwhelming and stale. I was detached, just going through the
motions: walk here, get wristband, sit, stay, wait. The waiting was the worst part. My mind began
to spin. Worrying, and waiting, and contemplating, and waiting and waiting... My fingers began to
restlessly tap, dancing out the rhythm of my steps over and over. I fell into a daze, nothing

Social Deviance and Social Norms Essay
Social deviance is a violation of social norms. So what qualifies as a social deviant? According to
sociologist, Howard S. Becker the best definition of social deviance is, It is not the act itself, but
the reactions to the act, that do something deviant. In cultures around the world, there are many
practices Americans find deviant, but in other cultures, it s the norm. In many countries around the
world, girls are married as young as 11 years old. To Americans, that is considered child abuse and
rape, but that is only because of our social norms. To the men and parents in different countries, it
is perfectly normal because their social norms. In America, social deviance comes in many different
forms. We have our sexual deviants,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Avner considered himself bi sexual. He associated with the furry culture, and attended several
furry conventions. Imagine how he would have been looked at thirty years ago. Appearance
modification is the lighter side of social deviance. Other forms of deviance include serial
murder, incest, rape and pedophilia. One of the most famous of violent social deviance would
have to be Theodore Bundy. Theodore Bundy was a serial murderer and rapist. He killed dozens
of women across four states. He was executed, by way of electrocution, in Florida in 1989. He
was an extreme case of social deviance. Rape is an awful, but real type of social deviance.
Whether it is from a stranger, friend, relative or even a husband; According to RAINN (Rape,

cultures, rape is a way of marrying the women of your choice. Marriage by capture practiced in
Hmong culture. Hmong men simply pick a girl, take her to their home and rape her, then they
are considered married. To Americans, that is a horrifying idea, but for the Hmong people it is a
cultural norm. In America, it is a serious form of socially deviant behavior. In America, incest is
another shocking form of sexual, social deviance. In the Netherlands and Belgium, you can have

Iran s State Run Broadcast Media
Conversely, Iran s state run broadcast media, managed by pro regime loyalists, is a dominant
source of news for Iranians and the only media that hosts presidential debates. Yet, Iran s print
media culture offers a greater spectrum of information and opinions from across the political
gamut. The press has traditionally been considered one of the most important campaign tools for
candidates, both reformists and conservatives, but also as key resources for access to diverse
election news, debates and analyses for Iranian citizens. While the print media generally operated
with far greater editorial freedom than the heavily controlled state broadcaster, Irans print journalists
came under government scrutiny and monitoring during the 2013 election season. In addition to
security forces applying direct pressure in the forms of arrests, and imprisonment for example on
the news organizations to support pro regime candidates, editors and journalists were also warned
by intelligence officials against covering banned topics, such as Iran s economic troubles, the
possibility of international sanctions on Iran s nuclear program, negotiations with the United States
regarding Iraq and unrest among Iran s ethnic minorities. These restrictions on editorial freedom
were not just placed on the reformists though; conservative news outlets also received these
constraints. Many of the websites, blogs and news portals aligned with Ahmandinejad, and
therefore considered conservatives, were

Assignment 3: Economic Policy Recommendation
Dr. Camille Castorina
ECO 405 Economic Problems and Issues
Briefly describe the economic problem you have selected.
According to text in today s American economy, poverty is essentially an income distribution
problem. The U.S. economy generates enough income to go around so that no one really has to
live in poverty. But enough income does not go to everyone, and some people do live in poverty.
Poverty is concerned with the relationship between the minimum needs of people and their ability
to satisfy those needs. The difficulty with any definition of poverty involves the meaning of
minimum needs and the amount of money required to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Price discrimination occurs when people of different races or genders are forced to pay different
prices for the same good or service, provided the differences are not due to differences in cost of
serving the consumer. (Ansel M. Sharp, Evidence of Discrimination in Our Economy, 2010)
It may seem that racism and discrimination doesn t exist anymore in the US, with the election of an
African American as president, but discrimination still harbors here. To see discrimination first
hand, just travel south a few hundred miles where pickup trucks still have the Confederate flag
painted on their cabs and many houses have a Confederate flag flying, which a minority in the area
views as racist. Discrimination has played a huge role in shaping economies and creating poverty;
women, for instance, still reflect a small portion of engineering and higher income job percentages.
A report from http://www.yemenpost.net/23/Reports/20081.htm says that women have a 600
percent higher unemployment rate and receive, at average, 13 percent less money than men do
while having the same occupations and getting the same work done. Discrimination still affects the
poverty rate and unemployment.
Design a proposed economic policy solution to the problem.
According to text, there are two approaches and only the government can really solve this problem
to easing poverty. First,

Indian Mascots Vs. Racial Discrimination
Indian Mascots vs Racial Discrimination Do you feel having Indian mascots for sports teams take
part in racial discrimination? In the sports world, representing a Native American is showing honor
and respect. In society, communities take it as offensive and racist towards Native Americans. The
government recognizes the positive representation of Indians and has given them more rights than
state citizens. Considering the history, what it means, and general attitude, Indian mascots should
be allowed. A common question about this topic is, Insult or Honor? Professional clubs aren t the
only ones with Native American names and mascots. Teams across our nation are preaching

Snyder and others strongly believe it s sacred and deserves to stay with history behind it. The
tradition started from tribes and chiefs back in the settlement time. Everything now is respect for
the tribes in our nation. The biggest point that the United States wants to get across to the public is
pride. In today s society there is a blind love for the teams and mascots we have today. The
hidden picture is seeing that the sports side of our world has the biggest appreciation for Native
Americans. Harjo says, it s not about choosing sides, it s about doing the right thing (Wulf).
History of Native American names in the sports world were originally established to show
disrespect, but today represent honor and pride. These offensive names came into a new era and
were established across the states. In the beginning of this trend Indians had no say over what
was offensive and where they stood politically. Daniel Snyder says, My team and fans have
always believed our name represents honor, respect and pride. Law professors agreed with
Snyder and said they shall keep their name. USA Today Sports said, it was bad as a Native
American life as it had ever been during the time of reservation establishment. Populations had
collapsed from several million to 250,000 from reservation confinement and merges made by the
federal government. Since the name fiasco laws have been put in place to civilize Indians. These
laws were passed by bureaucrats creating tutelage for

Etiological Theories And Social Implications Essay
Etiological Theories and Social Implications In this earliest period of recognition, people in the
psychiatric community began to formulate theories as to why children developed conditions like
autism and schizophrenia. Some theorized about the possibility of a genetic predisposition early on,
but the ideas of some influential figures in the field proposed theories with rather damaging
implications (Donvan, 2016). Kanner himself initially thought that autismwas a result of a distant
mother (Silberman, 2015). Finn writes of Bruno Bettelheim, a controversial figure who widely
propagated this previously synthesized refrigerator mother theory. The causative crux, it was
proposed, was cold ideation and behavior of mothers in regards to their children. He and some
others believed that negative emotions on part of mothers about the existence of their children,
even subconscious ones, caused these children to retreat into themselves for protection. Bettelheim,
having been victimized by the Nazis, reported that he had seen withdrawn behaviors expressed by
others suffering in the camp that very closely resembled the withdrawn and self comforting
behaviors of children with autism and schizophrenia (1997). It seemed reasonable to him that these
behaviors stemmed from a severe insult to a child s sense of safety and trust in his mother. The
patent result of such a proposal is the stigmatization of parents of children with autism. Given the
severe stigmatization of autism and

Criticism Of Patrick White
Abstract Patrick White (1912 1990) has an overwhelming stature in the history of Australian
literature, not only because he is hitherto the only Australian Nobel Laureate, but also because that
he makes a great contribution to Australian literature, with which other writers can hardly compare.
When realism is prevailing in Australia, White first brings modernism to Australian literature. He
creates an unprecedented unique writing style and influences such brilliant writers as Randolph
Stow, Thomas Keneally, Hal Porter and the so called White School writers. White also represents
an era in the history of Australian literature. In White Era , by his works, White puts Australian
literature on the world map and elevates the status of Australian literature to a new degree.... Show

After reviewing the studies on White s novels, it is found that existing studies on Twyborn are
so few that can even hardly be the tip of the iceberg of White study. In existing studies, instead of
being the main subject, Twyborn usually appears as a foil character and is criticized by many
scholars as one of White s worst novels. Besides, the interpretations of Twyborn are rather
limited; compared with White s other novels, Twyborn deserves more and diverse interpretations.
The first chapter is a summary of White s novels common feature: White likes to set his
protagonists in quests. White borrows Odyssey s framework in The Aunt s Story, designing a
Whitean odyssey for his protagonist. Since then, Whitean odyssey usually appears in his
following works; his protagonists face and solve a serious of problems, and then get closer to the
meaning of their existence. In Twyborn, the protagonist Eddie also makes a Whitean odyssey from
France to Australia and to UK in order to pursue the complete identity , becoming a complete man
who can love both himself and

Signs And Signs Of Dating Essay
There are many signs to be aware of when dating a man to let you know if he is no longer into
you. When the time comes, most men do not want to tell a woman that they have been dating
that they are no longer interested. Because of this, you must be aware of any signs that he may
give you. Most of the signs are blatant, and other ones are more subtle. If your mate does any of
the things listed below, let him go and move on to someone else. 1. He stops calling completely
or not as much as he did in the beginning. If you have to initiate the calls all of the time, he
probably has lost interest in you. When men are into you, they will make time to call. If your
person of interest can not continue to make initial contact with you, then he s not worth your
time. 2. He does not want to spend any time with you. If weeks or months go by without going
out on any dates, then he is not into you. If there is some interest there, he will make time to
spend with you. Do not sit around waiting for him to make time for you. Cut your losses and
meet someone else that will be happy to be in your company. 3. You only see him when he wants
to sleep with you. Do not put yourself in this situation. It is best not to have sexual relations
early on. If he only wants you to come over to his place or he wants to come over to your place
instead of going out, he wants you only for sex. Let him go, if he exhibits this behavior. You are
worth much more than this. 4. He does not have any time for you

Organic Farming Essay
Since the time of when early settlers arrived in Jamestown, Virginia, farming has proven to be a
reliable solution to many crises within the food industry. After all, learning how to farm from the
Native Americans saved the colonies from famine during the 17th century. Fast forward a couple
centuries to the 1800s. During the 1840s, commercial farming became a new trend as farmers
began seeing quicker production and a bigger profit. The inventions of irrigation and chemical
fertilizers also happened during this time. Subsequently, these farming techniques have further
influenced the ones today. However, the introduction of organic farmingmethods has created uproar
within the agricultural industry due to its impressive success. Polyface farms have become the
leading icon for how organic farming methods can and will be most successful in the journey
towards revitalizing the United States food industry. These organic farming techniques were
formed based upon the issues that industrial farming uses. In Michael Pollan s article The Animals:
Practicing Complexity, industrial farming techniques follow a clear, linear, hierarchical logic
unlike Polyface s system, which is more difficult to describe. Many see industrial methods as
disrespectful to the lives of animals in which we harvest. The practices that Polyface Farms use

Sexual Orientation Discrimination Everyone agrees that workplace discrimination has no place in
the modern business world. But not everyone understands the laws that protect employees against
discrimination. In this case, what you don t know can hurt you, especially if an aggrieved
employee files a discrimination claim. Definition According to an article published by Workplace
Fairness, a non profit organization that provides information and education on employee rights,
sexual orientation discrimination means treating someone differently solely because of his or her
sexual orientation whether it be homosexual, bisexual, or heterosexual. This discrimination may
occur because of a perception of someone whether the perception is right or wrong. Someone who
is discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation may also be discriminated against or
harassed on the basis of sex, gender identity, disability, such as actual or perceived HIV status, and
/or marital status. This is very important to Human Resource Professionals because they are the
ones that make sure organization objectives are being met, and policies are being followed. It is the
Human Resource professionals that deal with staffing, compensation, safety and health, training and
development as well as employee and labor relations issues. Therefore if any situations in the

Rhetorical Analysis Of If Beale Street Could Talk
In If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin, Baldwin explores society s rules of religion, sex,
race, family and violence to show how surroundings shape a person. Baldwin uses many rhetorical
devices to employ his message. His voice while writing is a lot like how a person would speak if
they were telling a story to a friend. Baldwin uses rhetorical strategies to put across his message.
One major rhetorical device is that Baldwin speaks through a 19 year old female. His point of
view is 1st person which gives the reader great access to what Tish is thinking. Even his style of
writing is in a way very much like a child who had to grow up too face. Tish was raised by a
pretty well put together family, sure they fought but they always were able pull together in
tough times like in the book. Fonny s family however is more like a war zone. The Holy Ghost
will cause that child to shrivel in your womb. But my son will be forgiven. My prayers will save
him Mrs.Hunt (Baldwin pg.68). Right after this Frank, her husband, knocks her out. Mrs.Hunt s
daughters were always on their mother s side. However in contrast, Frank and Fonny weren t
really on the same team but they were both against Mrs.Hunt and they both got along well. All of

Its became a vital analytical tool in virtually every part of the petroleum industry, from finding
crude oil to research in new petrochemicals, due to the various types of samples, chemists within the
petroleum industry use gas chromatographic methods.
Petroleum analysis makes special use of columns for gas chromatography, with industries expecting
continues development of columns for high analytical performances and efficiency.
GC Analysis of petroleum products
In America, testing gas chromatography method for petroleum distillations have a boiling range of
174 degrees to 700 degrees Celsius when using gas chromatography it increases the boiling point.
It provides a good understanding for manufactures for stock and products which are related to
petroleum refining when determining the boiling range distribution of a distillate fraction.
A technique known as simulated distillation is used in which Gas Chromatography is merged with
standards of alkane which is published to boiling parts that perform a direct comparison to the
boiling parts of the sample components.
To calibrate the Gas chromatography system Polyethylene standards is used such as PolywaxВ®
1000 or PolywaxВ® 655, these consist of an even number of hydrocarbons between C20 C100.

of lusting is more a long term and widespread problem than it appears on the surface. Initially, I
always thought of lust being an internal sin that did not really affect anyone outside of the
individual partaking in the lustful activities, but DeYoung has changed my mind about that. I think
part of the problem with my former belief is that the first act that comes to mind is pornography. I

Identify and explain the four elements of proof necessary for a plaintiff to prove a negligence case
The first element that a plaintiff must prove is that the defendant owed him or her legal duty of
care. Generally, this duty of care is a legal notion that states that people owe anyone around them or
anyone who could be around them a duty to not place them in situations of undue risk of harm.
Proving this element will largely depend on the facts of the situation. After the plaintiff has proved
that a legal duty of care existed, he or she must then prove that this duty was breached. Generally,

Explain the principle of vicarious liability (respondeat superior).
Vicarious liability is a form of strict, secondary liability that arises under the common law doctrine
of agency, respondeat superior, the responsibility of the superior for the acts of their subordinate
or the responsibility of any third party that had the ability or duty to control the activities of a
violator. Employers are vicariously liable for the torts of their employees that are committed
during the course of employment. Employers will only be liable for the torts of their employees.
They will not usually be liable for the torts of their independent contractors. It is therefore necessary
to establish the status of the tortfeasor (Law Teacher 2012).
Three questions must be asked in order to establish liability:
Was a tort committed?
Was the tortfeasor an employee?
Was the employee acting in the course of employment when the tort was committed?
Explain why a corporation is considered an artificial person under the law. Courts use a legal

treated as an artificial person means that corporations have many of the same duties, responsibilities

  • 2. Foundations of Public Administration Jayson Allen PA 6610 FOUNDATIONS OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION CASE ANALYSIS The MOVE Disaster Jack H. Nagel Quality leadership is a telling sign of a successful organization. When given the opportunity to guide or direct others, a leader is capable of drawing individuals or groups together to accomplish certain goals. Given the responsibility to address a problem that had developed over a span of many months concerning a cult (an unorthodox or misguided group of extremist) called MOVE, newly elected Philadelphia Mayor, Wilson Goodedid not exercise his authority as the elected leader by working meticulously with the other city officials and offices to shut down MOVE operations and protect the city s residents from their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sometimes the very qualities that make a leader successful in one situation can impede his ability to rationally handle other situations. Understanding the reasoning behind why certain people make certain decisions in certain situations will never be cut and dry because when viewed through a psychological viewpoint, knowing the humanistic characteristics affecting decision making is important in getting a clearer picture. Personally, I would have asked for counsel from the closest of my working city officials and even someone higher up whom I knew and trusted. I am not expected, as a human being, to have all the answers but I can make rational choices given the possible outcomes. In becoming familiar now with the events surrounding the MOVE disaster, I as a future public administrator, can possibly recognize more easily when difficult situations may call for psychology and human relations understanding. This knowledge is a necessity for me personally as a mode of self critique, and for others in positions of leadership and authority that I may work closely with who may find themselves trapped but unable to recognize it. I consider this to be another example of recognizing that knowledge is power and to be a successful leader, knowing how to make the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He s more than a comedian. He s more than an entertainer. He is a trailblazer whose accomplishments will forever be encrypted into the African American culture. Bill Cosby was among the first blacks to rise in entertainment. He made millions laugh and his passion ignited something more than just a new era of comedy. His shows were not just for a comical view. It taught independence, individuality, equality, and educated the nation on the importance of knowledge. • 4. Persuasive Essay On Gun Shootings n July 18, 1984, eight month Carlos Reyes and his mother, Jackie, was killed by an unemployed father. Along with Carlos, 21 innocent people were killed at the McDonald s located in San Ysidro, California. Carlos is the youngest victim to gun violence till this date. His death is the result of the killer having easy access to a semiautomatic pistol and a shotgun (Berkowitz et al, 2017). Ryan Frazier, the 21 year old husband of Emily Frazier, shot himself with a semiautomatic gun he bought from a gas station in November 2008 after confronting his teenage nightmare for a lawsuit. He was molested by a priest and his first time using a gun was to end his own life, despite having a whole future ahead of him (Drexle, 2016). Carlos and Ryan are one of the many few that lose their lives from guns. They represent the stories of victims who have died after the trigger was pulled. With guns being readily available, everyone has the licenses to kill at any point in time, whether the pain is inflicted on others or themselves. Imagine if these were stories of your own family members or friends. According to our Founding Fathers, our second amendment should not be infringed and that people have the rights to keep and bear arms. However, because the United States is the number one country with mass shootings and suicideis the number one cause of gun deaths, it is necessary for our second amendment to be infringed and regulated in order to stop more people from losing their lives. The Loss Of An Emperor Erin Scott Lounsbury English в…Ў 22 May 2016 The Loss of an Emperor Some of the world s cutest and most adored creatures, penguins, recently began to rapidly decrease due to the careless actions of humans. When many people think of penguins they think of the cute, small black and white bird, found at the zoo or in Antarctica. However, these beautiful creatures come in all different sizes and shapes and there s an estimated 17 species of penguins which all vary in different ways. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even if it seems like something small, the population drop of krill created a much bigger effect. The dropping of the krill population led to a food shortage for the penguins, leading to a population drop of their own. Another problem, the ice melting due to climate change. Climate change, a leading effect, caused by the greenhouse effect which refers to warming that happens when heat gets trapped by the atmosphere that radiates from Earth towards space. Some gases block heat and it s ability to escape causing the planet to overall heat up . According to ucar.edu too little ice and the colony gets more exposed and vulnerable to predation, (Leifert). This leads to the penguins having less space to stay concealed from predators such as animals like skuas, kelp gulls, and giant petrels. These predators come after the chicks especially as they cannot defend themselves. This lack of ice leading to less protection making the innocent penguins more vulnerable to predators. Another cause, the excessive fishing and the careless efforts to enforce safety while doing so. Fishing efforts over the past couple of years significantly increased. The penguin s prey such as anchovy and sardine stocks get caught decreasing the penguin s food supply. According to Science Daily, As fishing efforts around the globe have multiplied several fold over the last few decades, penguins are now competing with people for enough food, (Science Daily). Picking up all of his achievements, faults, techniques, anything there was needed to know about him. A farm boy with an idea that would change lives and the way things were. Angle devoted his life designing, defining and refining orthodontic techniques that are still used to the present day. Would you want your teeth to be realigned in the 1850 s? Who would go for a mouth full of metal and in some cases a metal head piece? Ask the same question for today s society; everyone. The study of orthodontics has changed the lives of many people today and is a highly preferred privilege we have today. Over four million people in the U.S. wear braces, and 25 percent of these individuals are adults. • 11. Juxtaposition In Ideas The foil poems The Chimney Sweeper Songs of Innocence and The Chimney Sweeper Songs of Experience by William Blake show a clear juxtaposition in ideas. Songs of Innocence, shows an idyllic view of religion, with a faithful boy entrusting his future to a higher power. In contrast, the second poem, Songs of Experience, shows a cynical view of religion with no hope for a better future. As a result of these ideas, the author conveys a sense of hopelessness for the future of these children, regardless of their ideals. Through tone and imagery, William Blakeshows the hypocrisy of religion in relation to child labor during the eighteenth century. Throughout Songs of innocence the rhyme scheme AABB CCDD and continues where two lines which rhyme before continuing to the next set. This has the effect of making the poem seem surreal or unrealistic, since it gives the poem a fluid and sing song like rhythm. The rhyme underscores the main idea of the subject matter of the poem by showing that the dream which Tom Dacre has and the hope that the narrator gains as a result of this dream, are purely fantasy. As the poem continues, the rhymes in the last stanza are not the same complete rhymes as the ones that were used in the beginning part of the poem. The words dark (l. 21) and work (l.22) along warm (l.23) and harm (l.24) are only half rhymes, again revealing the hope that the boys have that their hard work will be rewarded, is only an illusion. Similarly, The Chimney Sweeper Songs of Experience, uses AABB in the first stanza. This is done to show a clear dichotomy between the two speakers at the beginning of the poem. However, as the poem progresses, the rhyme scheme changes to CACA DEDE. As a result of the alternating lines in the poem, the fanatical element which was exhibited in the first poem is not present. The alternating lines are able to the conflicting ideas of the young chimney sweeper. The bomb caused the deaths of over 100,000 people,2with the bulk of the destruction pertaining to innocent civilians. Three days later, the Americans repeated their action at Nagasaki. The aim of the US was not, however, to cause complete annihilation of the Japanese, but to seize the fierce nationalism within Japan, ending world war two. The purpose of these pieces were to be served usually in Roman Catholic Churches as music of worship. Although these two songs are known as plainchants, meaning they are usually monophonic and the melody usually does not change, both pieces have many similarities and differences. In my personal opinion, I believe that these two piece are more different than they are similar. It is considered to be a more eco friendly alternative source of electricity, as it emits less carbon emissions than coalfired power stations, for example. Yet there still an environmental risk provided by the radio active waste and its inability to be disposed of for 100,000 years (Phillips, 2012). Today in Australia there are no active nuclear powerplants but that is predicted to change in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Professor Per Peterson from the Department of Nuclear Engineering says, It s difficult for me to see how we can transition away from fossil fuels and not use significant amounts of nuclear energy (Phillips, 2012). Many argue that renewable sources of energy such as solar and wind should be implemented instead of nuclear energy as they too produce no air pollution. However, modern society requires a reliable base load of electricity which renewables are not equipped to provide. In Australia there are limited sources that could potentially supply a suitable base load . They include coal and gas (which produce CO2 emissions) geothermal, hydro (which is limited due to the lack of water), developing technology and nuclear energy (Krieg, 2014). Renewable sources of energy also prove to be a problem as they are too fickle to provide base load power to a nation, as they depend on intermittent things such as weather and seasons, whereas nuclear power is available constantly whilst being a cleaner source of power. An example of the environmental success nuclear energy has provided is France in the 1970s and 1980s. The country switched from using fossil fuels and instead used nuclear energy to supply 78% of its electricity (see figure 3). This in turn lowered the country s greenhouse emissions by approximately 2% each year since. No accidents have ever occurred at any of France s power plants (Biello, 2013). People ... Why Is Technology Important In Ww2 During many wars, technology that was developed for specific wartime needs has been integrated to everyday use but, compared to other wars, World War 2 had the largest effect of the technology we use today. While a lot of countries decided to go with quality over quantity, the United States decided to go with quantity over quality. While they decided to go with quantity over quality, their technologywas still good for that time. Technology played a major role during World War 2, from communications to transmit information across the battlefield, to aircraft and chemical weapons bombing, to technologies that we still use to this day. America was developing new technology and improving on technologies they already had throughout the war. As stated above, technology played a major role during World War 2, so getting ahead of the enemy was key to winning the war. One of the key technologies in World War 2 was their logistics and communications. America used electronic computers for ballistics and trajectory calculators. • 18. Plato s Euthyphro Paradox As I read through Plato s Euthyphro, I notice a remarkable conflict regarding definitions of perceptions. This simply means, that Socrates questions Euthyphro in order to find the objective meaning, and by doing so he creates an ongoing conflict amongst subjective meaning and objective meaning. He questions, if it is probable to have an objective and, is an objective a definition of an object or idea? The questions that Socratespresents concerning this particular idea generates a term known as a, EuthyphroParadox. In fact the definition that Euthyphro gave was only showing us an example of a pious act. Euthyphro failed to give a distinguishing meaning as to, what is piety? This gives inside to Euthyphro s first contradiction from the lack of evidence. Euthyphro mentions that in his opinion on pious saying that it is irrelevant in its nature. To demonstrate this Socrates states that he feels as though most men assume that they were correct despite the lack of vital evidence to prove their case. That being said this argument cannot be seen in terms of morality. For an example, if one were to carry out this argument any further, an act of kindness is morally good in God s eyes. The contradictions comes in to play when people question as to why God considers such acts as this good. This perspective of thinking has lead people to believe that morality is necessary to be arbitrarily assigned by God, than being good in itself therefore making it moral. In this particular case, if the importance of morality and goodness within itself is considered subjective, this is because one cannot differentiate God s aspect on morality and what is considered objectively moral. That being said, one simply cannot differentiate what is objective pious and what God s aspect on pious. Both Socrates and Euthyphro find it very problematic in identifying the difference between being loved by God(s) and piety. • 19. Echo And Narcissus Analysis Comparing Tragedies: Echo vs. Narcissus Ovid displays an impressive grasp of language in his poem Narcissus and Echo which allows him to address many classic themes, the chief of these being the theme of unfulfilled love and the suffering it brings. The most notable instances of this type of suffering are Echo and Narcissus transformations; Echo withers away until she is naught but a voice, and Narcissus is trapped in place until he eventually transforms into a flower. Upon finishing this tale, the reader is left with much to consider, including the question: which fate is worse? Of course, both fates are certainly cruel, but they given the specific themes and diction that Ovid uses when describing each pseudo death, Echo s punishment seems far less dehumanizing than Narcisssus ; whereas Narcissus is completely objectified by his transformation into a beautiful flower, Echo at least maintains the power of voice. Given Ovid s diction during Echo s introduction, it is clear that her fate is directly tied to the power of speech and voice. Ovid calls her resounding Echo as if this is her title, and the use of the word resounding is very important (line 26). Why not call her loud or huge or any of the other synonyms tied to the word resounding ? One can only assume that Ovid wanted to make use of the word s other definition: resonant and reverberant. By essentially introducing her as Reverberant Echo and mentioning that her speech was strange , Ovid immediately alerts the reader to what is both Echo s downfall and her saving grace: Words have power. Echo over uses words in her favor when she d talk and talk,/ to give her sister nymphs just enough/ time to slip away before they were found out, by Juno (lines 38 40), and eventually, her speech turns on her when she is able to do little more than repeat Narcissus words back to him despite how much she wishes to sing his praises. In the end, however, Echo s final punishment is to become no more than a voice, no more than a literal echo. Surely, this fate is cruel, but perhaps it is not completely unforgiving; though it is very little consolation, Echo at least maintains the power of voice, and however diluted this power might be, Ovid writes, ... As a species we have far suppressed our predators and we have increased in population. We have dominated many of our ecosystems that have been destroyed and severely damaged by mankind. • 37. Couples Therapy for Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse As many as one in three females have experienced sexual abuse by the age of 18 (Russell, 1986). Many survivors of childhood sexual abuse (CSA) experience negative psychological symptoms (Browne Finkelhor, 1986; Kendall Tackett, Williams, L. M., Finkelhor, 1993). These women may later in life engage in relationships. The negative impact of sexual abuse could result in challenges faced by the relationship due to shame and difficulty with trust (Kochka Carolan, 2002; MacIntosh Johnson, 2008). CSA may also result in sexual challenges for the couple (Kochka Carolan, 2002). Research has found that couples therapy can be of significance to the healing of the CSA survivor as well as functioning and growth in the relationship (Kochka ... Most of the subjects were able to respond to sexual stimulation and reach orgasm but did not enjoy it. The women who perceived themselves to be adjusted to their abuse still had some sexual dysfunction. Feinauer suggested several implications for practice from this study. She proposed that therapists who work with couples experiencing difficulty with intimacy of both sexual and emotional nature should consider sexual abuse history of the partners involved because without handling the sexual abuse related issues , the intervention of therapy will not be very effective. She stated that if the CSA survivor continued to believe and act out the idea that they have to perform sexually in order to get love, acceptance, security, then they cannot participate in sexually intimate relationships. Feinauer referenced other literature and previous studies of her own to add to the results and concluded that women who have been sexually abused should: deal with their unresolved anger and betrayal around the abuse; accept that they are not at fault for the abuse; externalize the fault to the perpetrator so they can discontinue to have worry and fear of all men; and see their partner as separate from the abuser so they can have an easier time in solving their sexual problems. The way to succeed in this journey is through standardized testing that results in consequences for teachers and students. High stakes testing also improves students achievement. Eugene Watts, Ohio s State Senator, discusses a new exam that will be required for high school graduation starting in September of 2004. It is a tribute to the process we have established that Ohio was one of only three states to receive a grade of A by the Fordman Foundation in its appraisal of math standards in 1998. Ohio s model math standards also have the highest rating by the American Federation of Teachers and a grade of B+ for the level of rigor in a review of state standards in 1998 by the Council of Basic Education. Sometimes it strikes suddenly, a lightning strike in a quiet blue sky. It tears through you and for a few seconds you cannot breathe; cannot think. This was different. This pain was patient and slow. It crept up on me; starting as just an annoying dull ache in my hip. Gradually growing confidence, steadily growing until the roar of the pain became so loud, I could not focus on anything else. But I was stubborn. I told myself I could push through it; that I had to push through it. Nationals were only two weeks away. I could not afford to lose any time... I was torn. On one hand, I had hope that maybe if I saw a doctor, they could fix it and ease the pain. On the other, I was scared. The risk that they would pull me out of dance and not let me compete at nationals seemed to outweigh the benefits. It was my dance teacher that finally convinced me to see a doctor. I remember feeling dazed walking into the hospital; everything was a blur yet seemed to happen in slow motion. And the smell. It was overwhelming and stale. I was detached, just going through the motions: walk here, get wristband, sit, stay, wait. The waiting was the worst part. My mind began to spin. The press has traditionally been considered one of the most important campaign tools for candidates, both reformists and conservatives, but also as key resources for access to diverse election news, debates and analyses for Iranian citizens. While the print media generally operated with far greater editorial freedom than the heavily controlled state broadcaster, Irans print journalists came under government scrutiny and monitoring during the 2013 election season. • 46. Etiological Theories And Social Implications Essay Etiological Theories and Social Implications In this earliest period of recognition, people in the psychiatric community began to formulate theories as to why children developed conditions like autism and schizophrenia. Some theorized about the possibility of a genetic predisposition early on, but the ideas of some influential figures in the field proposed theories with rather damaging implications (Donvan, 2016). Kanner himself initially thought that autismwas a result of a distant mother (Silberman, 2015). Finn writes of Bruno Bettelheim, a controversial figure who widely propagated this previously synthesized refrigerator mother theory. The causative crux, it was proposed, was cold ideation and behavior of mothers in regards to their children. He and some others believed that negative emotions on part of mothers about the existence of their children, even subconscious ones, caused these children to retreat into themselves for protection. Bettelheim, having been victimized by the Nazis, reported that he had seen withdrawn behaviors expressed by others suffering in the camp that very closely resembled the withdrawn and self comforting behaviors of children with autism and schizophrenia (1997). It seemed reasonable to him that these behaviors stemmed from a severe insult to a child s sense of safety and trust in his mother. The patent result of such a proposal is the stigmatization of parents of children with autism. Given the severe stigmatization of autism and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the time comes, most men do not want to tell a woman that they have been dating that they are no longer interested. Because of this, you must be aware of any signs that he may give you. Most of the signs are blatant, and other ones are more subtle. If your mate does any of the things listed below, let him go and move on to someone else. 1. He stops calling completely or not as much as he did in the beginning. If you have to initiate the calls all of the time, he probably has lost interest in you. When men are into you, they will make time to call. If your person of interest can not continue to make initial contact with you, then he s not worth your time. 2. Employers are vicariously liable for the torts of their employees that are committed during the course of employment. Employers will only be liable for the torts of their employees. They will not usually be liable for the torts of their independent contractors. It is therefore necessary to establish the status of the tortfeasor (Law Teacher 2012). Three questions must be asked in order to establish liability: Was a tort committed? Was the tortfeasor an employee? Was the employee acting in the course of employment when the tort was committed? Explain why a corporation is considered an artificial person under the law.
