The Importance Of The National Anthem
The decision, made by Colin Kaepernick and a handful of other NFL players, to kneel or sit down
during the playing of the American Nation Anthem is an immature and disrespectful gesture to this
country and to our flag. There are better more respectful ways to protest and put out word about your
cause. While it is our first amendment right to not stand up for the National Anthem, it is my opinion
that kneeling for the flag shows disrespect for this country, our armed forces, and the flag itself.
The flag has a section of code in the U.S. law books called the flag code. This was adopted on June
14, 1923, by the National Flag Conference which Navy and Army representatives attended. Title 4
chapter 1 section 9 states, All other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with
their right hand over the heart, or if applicable, remove their headdress with their right hand and hold
it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. While there are no legal repercussions to violating
these codes, it shows a great disrespect to the flag and to the country. This section of code also states
that citizens of other countries should stand in attention to show respect for the nation.
A great example of a foreign athlete showing respect to the United States National Anthem would be
Usain Bolt. During a trackside interview that was being conducted with Mr. Bolt, the U.S. National
Anthem started to play at the 2012 London Summer Olympics, Usain politely interrupted

Analysis of Miss Jane Pittman
In Ernest Gaines novel, The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, he stresses the importance of
education of black men from the period of slavery to the civil rights movement. Education has not
always been available to African Americans. During the time of slavery education was very limited as
not many people were educated, especially blacks. Schools for blacks were often destroyed and those
found teaching them were usually killed. A lack of education was one way that whites were able to
keep control over blacks along with violence to make people scared to challenge their treatment.
Throughout the book there were several educated black men that made their way into Miss Jane s life,
two of which were raised by Miss Jane and were like children ... Show more content on

When Jimmy died the community was finally able to get involved and they continued what Jimmy
started first through Jane as she continued with Jimmy s plan to protest by drinking from the fountain.
As time passed things have changed and African Americans have moved forward because of the
leadership and examples from Ned and Jimmy. They fought trying to make sure that their community
and others would be able to educate themselves and be free thinking so they could escape from the
shackles of slavery and white supremacy. They were able to shed their fear and mobilize the people to
reach a goal. Both Ned and Jimmy understood that nothing could be done to make a change without
support from the people and someone to lead

Classrooms Are Typically Undesirable Learning Environments...
Classrooms are typically undesirable learning environments. Most classrooms can evoke negative
emotions such as boredom, sadness, stress, and even anxiety. In grade school, high school, and
sometimes college, it can be difficult for people to go to class and pay attention for long periods; most
students end up daydreaming out the window or dozing off instead of focusing on the task. Teachers
want their students to perform well academically, which is not as likely when students are not able to
focus for long periods. Some high school classrooms can be extremely dull causing a student s mood
to become dreary therefore causing the student to lose focus. An alternative method to help elongate
student s attention span is with color.
Color is in everyone s day to day lives and has a large impact on emotions and feelings (Kaya and
Epps, 2004). It is known that different emotions can evoke different feelings, both positive and
negative, from people (Kaya and Epps, 2004). For example, the color green has been associated with
earth and nature, which causes people to feel positive feelings such as relaxed and calm. Yellow is also
associated with the positive feelings of happiness and excitement because it is associated with the
season of summer and the sun. Red, however, is a color that can create both negative feelings and
positive feelings. While some may see red as the color of romance and love, others may see it linked
to evil, blood, or war (Kaya and Epps, 2004). Since

Wind Power in the Near Future Essay
Wind Power in the Near Future
Today many people are anxious about energy for the future, as it seems realistic that petroleum energy
will someday run out and since some environmental problems caused by petroleum use are getting
worse. As alternatives to today s main energy source, oil, some others have been proposed already,
such as solar, water, biomass, and nuclear. Wind Power is the one of the ways that has the biggest
potential and is the most practical. And it is predicted to play an important role in electrical generation
for the new era. But to think wind power will be the dominant energy source can be too optimistic.
How will wind power be used? To what extent will wind power take the place of petroleum? We can
find the answers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Decentralized power production can bring immunity to largescale electrical grid failures. As wind
turbines can be adapted to this use, increasing amounts of wind power will be utilized as a means to
micropower generation.
These examples suggest that wind power will be used in ways that correspond to each needed capacity
and purpose. In the article Wind Energy: An Untapped Resource, the Wind Energy Association
estimates the potential amount of wind power generation capacity in the U.S.A. at 10,777 billion
kW/h, which is three times the electricity generated in the U.S.A. today. However, it also predicts that
we are unlikely ever to use even half of that potential. In fact, in 2000, the U.S.A. was using less than
1% of that potential! This is because wind power is not always the superior method, and there are
some problems still to be solved.
In the article Nuclear Now, Schwarts and Keiss point out some problems with wind power generation.
First the Whish, Whish sound of the turning fan might bother the people living nearby. A relatively
large area of land is needed for huge wind turbines. Also birds can be killed by the turbines. And, of
course, there is the question of the cost. In Wind Turbines Taking Toll on Birds of Prey, for example
USA Today reports that the number of birds killed by the

Kant vs Aristotle
The Platonic Rationalist and Aristotelian Empirical Way of Thinking
Philosophical Inquiry
Section ON22
Erich Grunder
Jim Cook
3/2/2007
During the 17th and 18th century two philosophers, Plato and Aristotle, arose carving for themselves a
trench in the philosophical world. We can see the biggest distinction between the two in their theories
of how we know things exist. The traditions of Plato and Aristotle have been dubbed rationalism and
empiricism respectively. Under these traditions many well known philosophers have formed their own
theories of God, existence and the material world. Through these individual theories I will show how
each fits into the category of either Rationalist or Imperialist. The Plutonian philosophers to be ...

He wanted to figure out how they functioned together. Spinoza accepted Descartes mathematical
model for deducing knowledge. He defends, outside the intellect; there is nothing but substance and its
modes or affections. Spinoza establishes the Fact and manner of [a] divine causality through careful
mathematical deduction. Consequently, God s essence exists through His own active power and
necessity. For this Spinoza was considered an atheist (Collins, 1967, p.83).
Lastly Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was an educated mathematician, scientist, historian, diplomat,
theologian and philosopher. He had the same dream as Spinoza and Descartes, that is, hope for a
systematic organization of all conceivable knowledge. In order to achieve this dream he required first,
to perfect a universal scientific language that would reduce all thoughts to mathematical symbols.
Second, he succeeded in developing one of the first forms of calculus. With this reasoning tool
Leibniz hoped to bring all thought under the reign of symbolic logic (Rogers Baird, 1981, p. 70).
By the 18th century in Great Britain a new philosophical movement was growing. The observational
and experimental was coming into focus. The interest of philosophers in the 18th century shifted from
rationalism and deductive, to Empirical and inductive. A philosophy was sought that could conclude
knowledge through since experience alone. The philosophers to do this were Rationalist Locke,
Berkeley and Hume.

The Pleistocene epoch was a time period of almost 2...
The Pleistocene epoch was a time period of almost 2 million years of repeating glaciation around the
globe. This epoch was known for its megafauna that roamed the Earth during the last great ice age.
Although this was a time of mass extinction for species that could not adapt to the climate changes,
many mammals and vertebrates that can be identified today were found during this time
(Zimmermann, 2013). The Pleistocene epoch is an important foundation for understanding life that
exists today, including carnivores, herbivores as well as the evolution of humans.
Fossil preservation has always been the most accurate way to determine what species lived during a
specific time period. Through correlations and radiometric dating, time periods ... Show more content

It is estimated that mammoths had the largest biome on the plant at an estimated 1 square kilometer
per mammoth (Zimov, 2014). Herbivores of the time ranged from under 45 kilograms to well over
1000 kg, making for a wide range of diversity within the speciation (graph below). While many of
these mammals were preyed upon by the carnivores, some were simply too large to be killed by single
predators, causing them to be relatively immune to predation (Rodriguez, Alberdi, Azanza, Prado,
2006). (Rodriguez, Alberdi, Azanza, Prado, 2006)
The herbivores of course needed grasses and trees to feed on though, which became difficult as
glaciation occurred cyclically causing for many to die from lack of
livable environments. As the herbivore mammals died off, so did the predators that relied on them as a
food source. While many of the herbivores became extinct during this time, others survived in certain
places better than others. Native horses of North America for example existed before the end of the
Pleistocene but disappear from the fossil record in that area. Horses as well as many other mammals in
a similar situation still exist around the globe but were wiped out from their original habitats.
In addition to carnivore and herbivore mammals, there were also many different species of birds and
reptiles that existed. A common misconception is that dinosaurs lived during this time, but they had
gone extinct some 60 million years before the Pleistocene began. Some species of

Google s Marketing Strategy Innovation
With the innovation occurs from creative ideas, it is developed, produced and marketed the
commercial success of the invention. Google is perceived as a very innovative company that has
changed processes and behaviors by understanding the needs of their customers. Google s strategy
innovation is incremental that has not yet produced a breakthrough technology, which creates the
emergence of a completely new market. Incremental innovations are improvements of existing
technology within an existing market involves new features to a product are introduced to provide
greater value for users. Most of Google s products and services are re innovations that use
breakthrough technology within an existing market, however; it might be not introduced on a new
platform. The most obvious remarkable re innovate product of Google is search engine. When Google
entered the market, the search engine companies like AltaVista and Yahoo were already formed.
However, the new process of PageRank, which is a breakthrough technology of Google, is produced
more accurate search result than others. Therefore, Google is growing fast because the better value of
their service that compared with the existing search engines. Another significant aspect of re
innovation of Google is about the product development, which creates more certainty about the need
of the innovation and can attack the market with less time for a brand new product.

Ethnicity As A Key Determinant Of Voting Behavior
Hypothesis
While ethnicity is not mono causal to determining voting behaviour, the focus of this study is the
consistency of ethnicity as a key determinant of voting behaviour in Ghana, particularly, in the Volta
and Ashanti Regions. This dissertation posits that ethnicity is a consistent key determinant of voting
behaviour in Ghana, and this is because ethnicity is enshrined within the political arrangements of the
country (Oelbaum, 2007, pp. 242 273). There are two main ethnic blocs which give rise under the
essence of absolute majority electoral system, to a two dominant party system (Ayelazuno, 2011, pp.
22 48). These ethnic blocs are the Voltarians from the Volta Region, and the Ashantis from the Ashanti
Region (Arthur, 2009, pp. 46 51).
In Ghana, there are nearly ninety ethnic groups, and language is the core ethnic marker (Arthur, 2009,
p. 50). The electoral system provides a strong incentive to the two dominant parties, the National
Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to engage in crude ethnic politics to
win, even when they have lost in the majority of the regions (Ayelazuno, 2011, p. 47). As this system
has reified ethnicity, political parties that transcend ethnicity are doomed in a country where the ethnic
groups are quite aware of their differences (Ayelazuno, 2011, pp. 22 36).
Research Aims
In order to arrive at a coherent conclusion, the principal aim is sub divided into three aims: Research
aim one (RA1) defines ethnicity, and

Chivalry Going Or Gone
Chivalry: Going or Gone?
War: whether it is internally, externally, physically, emotionally or mentally, war is exhausting. People
of present day all have many of struggles on their own. Some of these imperious people believe the
best way to handle what is spread about them is by making others feel even worse. In a world such as
today s, people need to know that the only way to help and to keep sanity is to stand up for the weak,
protect the defenseless, obey those placed in authority, and respect the honor of all. Showing structure

Many wonder, What are basic manners? Why is it important to demonstrate common courtesy?
Showing emotion with dignity and always keeping composure and maturity is a favorable way to start
answering these questions. A few more tips are to smile, to be interested in the conversation, and to
never jump to conclusions or make assumptions (General Manners Today; a List of Good
Miscellaneous Manners). In order to earn respect, treat all people with respect. Do not try to change
another s personal ideas or values to match what may be considered correct. A strong word to believe
in is etiquette. Etiquette is a noun which means, The customs or values governing behavior regarded
as correct or acceptable in social or official life (Williams). Following are examples showing polls of
women who truly enjoy chivalrous traits, 82% of women said they preferred men with old fashioned
manners... Only 52% of women surveyed said their partners acted with chivalrous qualities
(Valizadeh). With this being said, significant others need to step up their game and treat their
soulmates with the love and compassion found in

Happiness Is The Most Important Aspect Of The Mind
Buddhists believe happiness is being able to realize that no matter what you think about the
circumstances that define your life, you are already good, whole and complete. It s about recognizing
the inherit potential in your mind. Happiness is being awakened to the full potential of his own nature.
People have to change their mindset in order to achieve happiness for example someone who suffers
from anxiety may have a attack they can believe they are having a nervous breakdown or you can
confront your thoughts and fears and realize have that you re a having a nervous breakthrough. By
controlling your thoughts you are able to control your outcome of situations. Happiness is awareness
and the feeling of complete and whole. In order to achieve happiness one must first realize that every
sentient being that is, every creature endowed with even a very basic sense of awareness which can be
defined by three basic aspects or characteristics: body, speech and mind. It is important to know that
the mind is essence, is the most important aspect of all creatures that share the attribute of being
sentient. It s important to acknowledge the natural mind and that is capable of producing anything,
even ignorance of its own nature. But a compassionate mind is a diligent mind and with compassion
things such as starvation and people being slaughter would not exist.
Buddhists believe Natural peace is necessary to achieve happiness. Natural peace is a condition

Averroes Research Paper
Medieval philosophy is the philosophy in the era referred to as the Middle Ages, the period extending
from the fall of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century C.E. to the Renaissance in the 16th
century. It is defined partly by the process of rediscovering the ancient culture developed in Greece
and Rome in during classical period, and partly by the need to address theological problems and to
integrate sacred doctrine along with secular learning. The main topics that were discussed throughout
this period was the relation of faith to reason, the existence of God, the purpose of theology and
metaphysics, and the problems of knowledge, of universals, and of individuation. One influential
philosopher from this period is Averroes.

most important philosophical work was Tahafut al tahafut ( The Incoherence of the Incoherence ). In
this work, he defended Aristotelian philosophy against the claims of al Ghazali. Al Ghazali had argued
that Aristotelianism, specifically as presented in the earlier writings of Avicenna, was self
contradictory and an affront to Islamic teachings. Averroes contended that al Ghazali s arguments were
false and that Avicenna s interpretations were a distortion of genuine

others wanted to make the townspeople accountable. My secret hope was that they were from

Color Red Psychology
Since I was a child I have always loved the color red. Whenever my parents would ask me what color
I wanted for various objects, or theme color for a party, I would always choose red. Until coming into
this class, I never gave much thought to what the color red represents or why I have always liked it. I
have read studies about the physiological and psychological impact that colors have upon individuals,
and I have observed the effect of certain colors upon individuals, and I ve found that my basic reaction
to certain colors are different than most people.
For example, since red is the longest wavelength it is perceived by most people as a powerful color,
which to them represents energy, strength and excitement. It grabs peoples attention, and hence it
effectiveness in traffic lights. For many people red is perceived as a demanding and aggressive color.
On the other hand, the color blue causes the opposite reactions as the color red. For most people, blue
is perceived as peaceful and tranquil, and physiologically this color causes the body to produce
calming chemicals, which is why it is often used as a color of paint in bedrooms. ... Show more

Zoning Laws And Zoning Ordinance Regulations
Zoning definition Zoning is the exercise of the police power that governs where and how land may be
used and developed. The purpose of zoning is to protect and further the public health, safety and
welfare and it lawful exercise maybe go beyond these objectives. [IICLE, Illinois Municipal Law
Section 2.2]
Zoning divides a jurisdiction into a number of zones or land use districts. A zoning ordinance consists
of both a text and a map. The text establishes the zoning districts and details regulations applicable to
each district and land use. The map designates the location and boundaries of each zone created by the
text. Id.

bodies.
3. Subdivision Approvals
Subdivision regulations are directed toward two purposes: (a) to ensure that development is provided
adequate infrastructure such as water, sewers, streets, and sidewalks; and (b) to facilitate real estate
conveyancing by imposing standards for the platting of land (requiring a survey to show streets,
blocks, and lots in a subdivision and the recording of the survey). Subdivisions must, however,
comply with the requirements of the zoning ordinance. Subdivision may be achieved by one of the
following methods:
Parcel Map
Tract Map
Vesting Map
4. Site Specific Permits If the proposed development does not comply with existing zoning codes, then
rezoning or zone change is required for approval.
Conditional Use Permits (CUP) certain uses of land may only be allowed upon approval of a CUP.
Uses that often require a CUP include schools, hospitals and group homes.
Variances used to avoid restrictions imposed by the zoning code.
Design Review Sometimes required before issuing building permits.
5. Environment review (where applicable)

The site I visited was Waldron Mercy Academy. Waldron is a private, Catholic school that educates
children through preschool to eighth grade. Sister Mary Patricia Waldron, the foundress of the school,
found herself in Philadelphia in 1861 in order to give aid to those who are poor and uneducated

Burn rate study on Alliant (Green dot) smokeless shotgun powder and KClO4 Shalom AJ Cohen
Philadelphia community college 11/2010 Abstract: The purpose of this project is to measure if
differing amounts of potassium perchlorate, KCIO4, mixed with shotgun powder has an effect on burn
rate. The experiment was videotaped and the duration of burn time for each amount used was
recorded. KClO4, amounts ranging from .2g to 2g, were added to 4g of shotgun powder. A steel pipe
that is ½ inch wide and 6 inch, which is welded vertically to a steel plate base was used for
confinement. Ignition occurred from the top down. The hypothesis that was accepted is that the
concentration of KClO4 will accelerate the burn rate of smokeless flake powder. ... Show more

The burn rate of the mixture was recorded with a video camera and the results recorded and timed.
The resulting footage was reviewed and the duration of the combustion noted on a tenth of a second
basis. 4 grams of Alliant Green Dot double base smokeless flake powder with no KClO4 added was
also recorded twice in the same manner, to give a baseline burn time and averaged. Raw Data Gun

4 g of Alliant, Green Dot double base smokeless powder with no KClO4 was 1.94 seconds. The burn
rate with KClO4 ranged from 1.23 to 2. 76 seconds. 4 out of 7 tests provided results where the burning
rate of the mixture were accelerated when KClO4 where added to the shotgun powder. Two tests
showed a slight decline in the burn rate. The final test using 1g showed a decline in burn rate by 0.82
seconds. The declines might have been caused by residual shotgun powder from a previous test. It
would have been desirable to repeat the 1g test in order to

Explain Why Volcanoes Erupt
Most people are scared of volcanoes, but do you know the real reason why? Well, when Volcanoes

Right as your reading this there could be about 20 volcanoes erupting. Every year about 50 70

enough lava to make a new city! There s been about 550 historical eruptions that were really bad they
killed millions of people and anyone that did live through that didn t have a home anymore.
Also like it says in the article on the slopes of Mauna Loa, Hawaii Island, The road rises from sea

The Statue Of The Goddess Sekhmet Analysis
Mistress of peace and of the war cry. Lady of heaven, queen of the gods Great Mut. Creator. Protector.
Lady of joy. Cobra of dread. The vigilant mistress of Karnak. Mighty ruler in her Theban temple. She
whose spirit exists because her temple endures. She whose temple and city will exist for millions of
years 1. This writing comes from a hymn on a stela praising Mut. This stela praising one of the
prominent goddesses of Egypt shows the great praise and proclamations given to their religious
figures. Another such example of Egypt s adoration for their gods is in the statue of Sekhmet, one of
the many other statues found at the Temple of Mut. The statue stands as another representation of not
only Egypt s growing religious movements, but of the growing artistic movements in sculpting as well
and the appreciation the higher powers of Egyptians had on their gods and religion.
The Statue of the Goddess Sekhmet is currently held at the Royal Ontario Museum in the Ancient
Egypt exhibit with the inventory number, 2007. 68. 1. The statue depicts a woman with the head of a
lion, the goddess Sekhmet herself, sitting on a throne and has a broken off muzzle due to age. The
figure sits rigidly on top of a throne, a common depiction of some of the important gods of Egypt.
Originally the statue had held an ankh but had broken off due to age. It was sculpted out of black
granite and stands at 184 centimetres.

Leadership Theories and Analysis
What is leadership?
Leadership is the behaviour of an individual when he is directing the activities of a group towards a
shared goal . (Hemphill and Coons, 1957, p.7)
A leader is interpreted as someone who sets direction in an effort and influences people to follow that
direction. How they set that direction and influence people depends on a variety of factors. To really
comprehend the territory of leadership, one should briefly scan some of the major theories, notice
various styles of leadership and review some of the suggested traits and characteristics that leaders
should have.
There are many leadership theories. Arthur G. Jago (1982) proposed a framework that organizes
leadership theories based on each theory s focus and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this style, leaders look upon their followers as people their needs, interests, problems, development
and so on. They are not simply units of production or means to an end.
Directive leadership. This style is characterized by leaders taking decisions for others and expecting
followers or subordinates to follow instructions.
Participative leadership. Here leaders try to share decision making with others.
(Wright 1996: 36 7)
Contingencies theory.
The central idea of this approach was that effective leadership was dependent on a mix of factors. Fred
E. Fiedler argued that effectiveness depends on two interacting factors: leadership style and the degree
to which the situation gives the leader control and influence.
Devices Fiedler used to determine leader personality and the situation was Least Preferred Co worker
(LPC) Scale. The LPC is used to measure a leader s motivation: Task motivation vs. relationship
motivation (these are the trait versions of the concern of production vs. concern of people categories in
the Managerial Grid).
Fiedler assumes that everybody s least preferred co worker in fact is on average about equally
unpleasant. But people who are relationship motivated tend to describe their least preferred co workers
in a more positive manner, e.g., more pleasant and more

The Impact Of Sexual Child Abuse On America
The Impact of Sexual Child Abuse in America Child abuse has been going on for many years. There
are many forms of child abuse, however, there is one that is far worse than the rest; sexual abuse.
Children has a natural instinct to trust too easily and believe what people tell them, especially if they
know those people. Statistics show very high figures of sexual child abuse in America. When children
undergo sexual abuse, it impacts their whole being. There are physical, emotional, and psychologic
effects that could impact a child not only short term but long term as well. When a child is victimized
sexually, they are not aware of the victimization. These types of victimizations could last years before
it is forced to stop. One of the sources describes a story where a women shares her experience of
sexual child abuse. The story will explain what she went through emotionally after the incident. Even
though it was a one time victimization, it still had a long term effect. Educating children and adults
about how to recognize the signs of sexual abuse could be a step closer towards helping innocent
children who are being sexually victimized all around the United States. Summary of Literatures

Comparing Mozart s Argument With Classical Music
Correlation vs Causation While the intelligence quotient can be shaped from a variety of sources
ranging from biological to environmental influences, the correlation between an increase of IQ with
classical music cannot be implied with a cause and effect relationship without consideration for other
variables or a different interpretation of the relationship. Since the research did not specify the control
variables within the experiments done on mothers, it is important to consider third variable problems
in situations where the parents of the fetus may have an influence on the development of the baby
based on their actions and genetics. For example, while all of the mothers were subjected to the same
classical music, the variations between the habits of each individual may have effected the results
through differences in the development of each infant (e.g. drugs, unhealthy diet, lack of eating).

The Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood By John Everett Millais
The Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood was founded by John Everett Millais, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, and
William Holman Hunt who were students at the Royal Academy. Millais, Rossetti, and Hunt were
dissatisfied with the academy teaching students to mimic renaissance masters like Raphael, and sought
to create art reminiscent of the medieval period. In addition for their distaste for renaissance perfection
in art the Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood were inspired by the theories of writer and art critic, John
Ruskin. Ruskin encouraged artist to go back to nature, as well as show moral and material truth in
their art via the use of symbols and more naturalistic depictions of nature (Harrison, Wood and Gaiger,
200). The Brotherhood at its inception strove to transmit a message of artistic renewal and moral
reform by imbuing their art with seriousness, sincerity, and truth to nature. (Meagher) From Millais I
will focus on one of his more famous paintings Ophelia, followed by Rossetti s Proserpine, and Hunt s
Awakening Conscience.
John Everett Millais Ophelia painted in 1851 is a depiction of noble woman Ophelia from
Shakespeare s Hamlet. Ophelia s story is tragic as she loses the favour of price Hamlet who then goes
on to kill Ophelia s father. Ophelia is driven mad by these event and is found dead in a brook, the
scene depicted in Millais painting. True to the Pre Raphaelites and Ruskin s ideology the background

The Importance Of The Heroic Tale Of Sundiata
Throughout history, storytellers have used fantastic fables to entertain his or her audience. Filled with
larger than life characters and amazing tales of heroism, on the surface these fables simply seem like
mass entertainment much in the same way comic book heroes entertain us today on the silver screen.
However, most of the time these epic, fantastic tales have a much deeper purpose for both the
storyteller and the audience. While the stories aim to entertain, more importantly, the epic tales exist to
hand down crucial histories from generation to generation. This is important to the culture in which
the story takes place, and is a true observation for the story of Sundiata, the founding of the Mali
Empire, and the descendants of these Mali people. While on the surface, the story is a heroic tale of
Sundiata s early life as he overcomes many obstacles, defeats mystical and magical foes, and finally
emerges triumphant, it is really a tale designed to teach the audience the history of the Mali Empire
and the values and culture of the Mali people. This is tremendously important to the Mali people back
when the story was first told and is still important to them today.
As a historical oral epic, the tale of Sundiata tells the reader the story of the creation of the Mali
Empire. The events of the tale take place during the early 13th century and detail the early, difficult
life of Sundiata up until his final victory over the evil Soros. After this victory, Sundiata

Macrocosm In Arcadia
Paper 3 A main theme apparent in the play Arcadia is the concept of increasing entropy, the theory that
objects will only decline from structure to chaos. Manifesting this theme through both the motif of
human desire and the devolution of the structure of the play from order to disorder, Tom Stoppard
suggests that the increase of entropy is apparent in microcosms as well as macrocosms. Stoppard uses
human desire to create several relationships that decay over the course of the play as a metaphor for
increasing entropy in the microcosm of Sidley Park. The play first introduces Mrs. Chater as the
woman who was found in carnal embrace with Septimus (2). By starting the play with an affair,
Stoppard introduces the idea that the free will of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of the play, the structure of the play is separated into two distinct timelines: one in
the early 1800 s, one in modern day. Stoppard even tells us that The action of the play shuttles back
and forth between the early nineteenth century and the present day (15). However, by the end of the
play in scene 7, the distinction between the two timelines is blurred, with the past merging into the
present as Lord Augustus is chased into the [present day] room by Thomasina (77). The play proceeds
to have both past and present characters interacting on set at the same time, transforming the once
separate timelines into an intricate disorder. Stoppard chooses to structure his play in this way to
parallel the increasing entropy of the characters relationships. Likewise, Stoppard uses the table
present in both timelines as a depiction of increasing entropy on a small scale. At the beginning of the
play, the table only has an old fashioned theodolite and also some other books stacked up , which
symbolizes order (1). However, during the course of the play, the table collects items as characters
from both timelines set items upon it, and by the end of the play contains the geometrical solids, the

What Is A Tent Foot
What is a tent foot? What you need to know.
Have you ever struggled to understand what a tent footprint is? Or have you ever struggled to
understand why people need tent foots?
We ll I m here to answer that. I think that it is important to know what a tent foot is because it is such a
useful tool when camping, that it can save the underneath of your tent from damage while you are
camping.
So what is a tent footprint, really?
Think of a tent footprint like the foundation of the tent. What this tent foot does is it protects the
underneath of your tent from any wear and tear.
Normally, tent foot s come attached to the tent itself so you don t necessarily have to worry about
buying a new one. However, many tents are waterproof underneath. ... Show more content on

Believe it or not, when you are doing the tossing and turning, you are causing abrasions on the ground
material of the tent.
Over time, the friction from those abrasions will tear the underneath of the tent apart.
Are there any other uses for the tent foot?
Tent footprints can be used as a form of insulation underneath your tent. When the tent foot is
underneath your tent, the tent foot will trap warm air underneath your tent to provide you warmth for
as long as possible.
The tent footprint also makes sure that packing up the tent is as easy as possible. Since the tent itself
will be on top of the tent footprint, the tent will stay dry underneath. That means that you don t have to
spend as much time cleaning the tent before packing up.
One other way that tent footprints can help, other than protecting the tent from damage, is by helping
you place your corners of the tent. When you buy your tent, the tent foot will nearly be the exact
dimension as the tent footprint.
As for the waterproofing; just because some tents are waterproof, doesn t mean that a tent footprint
cannot add an extra waterproofing layer underneath the tent. It is generally a good idea to have as
many extra layers of water

have to go in a different direction. That new direction is a new brand of science called THE CHAOS
THEORY.
1.2) What is Chaos Theory
Chaos theory is the field of study that studies about the behavior of the dynamical systems which are
highly sensitive to initial conditions. This theory proposes that even small changes in initial conditions
(such as rounding off of errors in numerical computation) results in vast differences in final outcomes
for such systems. It is valid for deterministic systems also. Deterministic systems are those systems
whose future behavior is fully determined by their initial conditions, no random elements are
involved. This feature is known as deterministic chaos, or simply

The purpose of LPC is to reduce the bit rate. The LPC provides parameters for a filter that mimics the
vocal tract. The signal passes through this filter, leaving behind a residual signal. Speech is encoded at

GSM Subscriber Services
There are two basic types of services offered through GSM: telephony (also referred to as tele
services) and data (also referred to as bearer services). Telephony services are mainly voice services
that provide subscribers with the complete capability (including necessary terminal equipment) to
communicate with other subscribers. Data services provide the capacity necessary to transmit
appropriate data signals between two access points creating an interface to the network. In addition to
normal telephony and emergency calling, the following subscriber services are supported by GSM:
* Dual tone multi frequency (DTMF) DTMF is a tone signaling scheme often used for various control
purposes via the telephone network, such as remote control of an answering machine. GSM supports
full originating DTMF.
* Facsimile group III GSM supports CCITT Group 3 facsimile. As standard fax machines are
designed to be connected to a telephone using analog signals, a special fax converter connected to the
exchange is used in the GSM system. This enables a GSM connected fax to communicate with any
analog fax in the network.
* Short message services A convenient facility

  • 2. The Importance Of The National Anthem The decision, made by Colin Kaepernick and a handful of other NFL players, to kneel or sit down during the playing of the American Nation Anthem is an immature and disrespectful gesture to this country and to our flag. There are better more respectful ways to protest and put out word about your cause. While it is our first amendment right to not stand up for the National Anthem, it is my opinion that kneeling for the flag shows disrespect for this country, our armed forces, and the flag itself. The flag has a section of code in the U.S. law books called the flag code. This was adopted on June 14, 1923, by the National Flag Conference which Navy and Army representatives attended. Title 4 chapter 1 section 9 states, All other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart, or if applicable, remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. While there are no legal repercussions to violating these codes, it shows a great disrespect to the flag and to the country. This section of code also states that citizens of other countries should stand in attention to show respect for the nation. A great example of a foreign athlete showing respect to the United States National Anthem would be Usain Bolt. During a trackside interview that was being conducted with Mr. Bolt, the U.S. National Anthem started to play at the 2012 London Summer Olympics, Usain politely interrupted ... • 3. Analysis of Miss Jane Pittman In Ernest Gaines novel, The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, he stresses the importance of education of black men from the period of slavery to the civil rights movement. Education has not always been available to African Americans. During the time of slavery education was very limited as not many people were educated, especially blacks. Schools for blacks were often destroyed and those found teaching them were usually killed. A lack of education was one way that whites were able to keep control over blacks along with violence to make people scared to challenge their treatment. Throughout the book there were several educated black men that made their way into Miss Jane s life, two of which were raised by Miss Jane and were like children ... • 4. Classrooms Are Typically Undesirable Learning Environments... Classrooms are typically undesirable learning environments. Most classrooms can evoke negative emotions such as boredom, sadness, stress, and even anxiety. In grade school, high school, and sometimes college, it can be difficult for people to go to class and pay attention for long periods; most students end up daydreaming out the window or dozing off instead of focusing on the task. Teachers want their students to perform well academically, which is not as likely when students are not able to focus for long periods. Some high school classrooms can be extremely dull causing a student s mood to become dreary therefore causing the student to lose focus. An alternative method to help elongate student s attention span is with color. Color is in everyone s day to day lives and has a large impact on emotions and feelings (Kaya and Epps, 2004). It is known that different emotions can evoke different feelings, both positive and negative, from people (Kaya and Epps, 2004). For example, the color green has been associated with earth and nature, which causes people to feel positive feelings such as relaxed and calm. Yellow is also associated with the positive feelings of happiness and excitement because it is associated with the season of summer and the sun. Red, however, is a color that can create both negative feelings and positive feelings. While some may see red as the color of romance and love, others may see it linked to evil, blood, or war (Kaya and Epps, 2004). Since ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Wind Power in the Near Future Essay Wind Power in the Near Future Today many people are anxious about energy for the future, as it seems realistic that petroleum energy will someday run out and since some environmental problems caused by petroleum use are getting worse. As alternatives to today s main energy source, oil, some others have been proposed already, such as solar, water, biomass, and nuclear. Wind Power is the one of the ways that has the biggest potential and is the most practical. And it is predicted to play an important role in electrical generation for the new era. But to think wind power will be the dominant energy source can be too optimistic. How will wind power be used? To what extent will wind power take the place of petroleum? We can find the answers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Decentralized power production can bring immunity to largescale electrical grid failures. As wind turbines can be adapted to this use, increasing amounts of wind power will be utilized as a means to micropower generation. These examples suggest that wind power will be used in ways that correspond to each needed capacity and purpose. In the article Wind Energy: An Untapped Resource, the Wind Energy Association estimates the potential amount of wind power generation capacity in the U.S.A. at 10,777 billion kW/h, which is three times the electricity generated in the U.S.A. today. However, it also predicts that we are unlikely ever to use even half of that potential. In fact, in 2000, the U.S.A. was using less than 1% of that potential! This is because wind power is not always the superior method, and there are some problems still to be solved. In the article Nuclear Now, Schwarts and Keiss point out some problems with wind power generation. First the Whish, Whish sound of the turning fan might bother the people living nearby. A relatively large area of land is needed for huge wind turbines. Also birds can be killed by the turbines. And, of course, there is the question of the cost. In Wind Turbines Taking Toll on Birds of Prey, for example USA Today reports that the number of birds killed by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Kant vs Aristotle The Platonic Rationalist and Aristotelian Empirical Way of Thinking Philosophical Inquiry Section ON22 Erich Grunder Jim Cook 3/2/2007 During the 17th and 18th century two philosophers, Plato and Aristotle, arose carving for themselves a trench in the philosophical world. We can see the biggest distinction between the two in their theories of how we know things exist. The traditions of Plato and Aristotle have been dubbed rationalism and empiricism respectively. Under these traditions many well known philosophers have formed their own theories of God, existence and the material world. Through these individual theories I will show how each fits into the category of either Rationalist or Imperialist. The Plutonian philosophers to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He wanted to figure out how they functioned together. Spinoza accepted Descartes mathematical model for deducing knowledge. He defends, outside the intellect; there is nothing but substance and its modes or affections. Spinoza establishes the Fact and manner of [a] divine causality through careful mathematical deduction. Consequently, God s essence exists through His own active power and necessity. For this Spinoza was considered an atheist (Collins, 1967, p.83). Lastly Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was an educated mathematician, scientist, historian, diplomat, theologian and philosopher. He had the same dream as Spinoza and Descartes, that is, hope for a systematic organization of all conceivable knowledge. In order to achieve this dream he required first, to perfect a universal scientific language that would reduce all thoughts to mathematical symbols. Second, he succeeded in developing one of the first forms of calculus. With this reasoning tool Leibniz hoped to bring all thought under the reign of symbolic logic (Rogers Baird, 1981, p. 70). By the 18th century in Great Britain a new philosophical movement was growing. The observational and experimental was coming into focus. The interest of philosophers in the 18th century shifted from rationalism and deductive, to Empirical and inductive. A philosophy was sought that could conclude knowledge through since experience alone. The philosophers to do this were Rationalist Locke, Berkeley and Hume. John Locke ... • 7. The Pleistocene epoch was a time period of almost 2... The Pleistocene epoch was a time period of almost 2 million years of repeating glaciation around the globe. This epoch was known for its megafauna that roamed the Earth during the last great ice age. Although this was a time of mass extinction for species that could not adapt to the climate changes, many mammals and vertebrates that can be identified today were found during this time (Zimmermann, 2013). The Pleistocene epoch is an important foundation for understanding life that exists today, including carnivores, herbivores as well as the evolution of humans. Fossil preservation has always been the most accurate way to determine what species lived during a specific time period. Through correlations and radiometric dating, time periods ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is estimated that mammoths had the largest biome on the plant at an estimated 1 square kilometer per mammoth (Zimov, 2014). Herbivores of the time ranged from under 45 kilograms to well over 1000 kg, making for a wide range of diversity within the speciation (graph below). While many of these mammals were preyed upon by the carnivores, some were simply too large to be killed by single predators, causing them to be relatively immune to predation (Rodriguez, Alberdi, Azanza, Prado, 2006). (Rodriguez, Alberdi, Azanza, Prado, 2006) The herbivores of course needed grasses and trees to feed on though, which became difficult as glaciation occurred cyclically causing for many to die from lack of livable environments. As the herbivore mammals died off, so did the predators that relied on them as a food source. While many of the herbivores became extinct during this time, others survived in certain places better than others. Native horses of North America for example existed before the end of the Pleistocene but disappear from the fossil record in that area. Horses as well as many other mammals in a similar situation still exist around the globe but were wiped out from their original habitats. In addition to carnivore and herbivore mammals, there were also many different species of birds and reptiles that existed. A common misconception is that dinosaurs lived during this time, but they had gone extinct some 60 million years before the Pleistocene began. Some species of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Ethnicity As A Key Determinant Of Voting Behavior Hypothesis While ethnicity is not mono causal to determining voting behaviour, the focus of this study is the consistency of ethnicity as a key determinant of voting behaviour in Ghana, particularly, in the Volta and Ashanti Regions. This dissertation posits that ethnicity is a consistent key determinant of voting behaviour in Ghana, and this is because ethnicity is enshrined within the political arrangements of the country (Oelbaum, 2007, pp. 242 273). There are two main ethnic blocs which give rise under the essence of absolute majority electoral system, to a two dominant party system (Ayelazuno, 2011, pp. 22 48). These ethnic blocs are the Voltarians from the Volta Region, and the Ashantis from the Ashanti Region (Arthur, 2009, pp. 46 51). In Ghana, there are nearly ninety ethnic groups, and language is the core ethnic marker (Arthur, 2009, p. 50). The electoral system provides a strong incentive to the two dominant parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to engage in crude ethnic politics to win, even when they have lost in the majority of the regions (Ayelazuno, 2011, p. 47). As this system has reified ethnicity, political parties that transcend ethnicity are doomed in a country where the ethnic groups are quite aware of their differences (Ayelazuno, 2011, pp. 22 36). There are many forms of child abuse, however, there is one that is far worse than the rest; sexual abuse. Children has a natural instinct to trust too easily and believe what people tell them, especially if they know those people. Statistics show very high figures of sexual child abuse in America. When children undergo sexual abuse, it impacts their whole being. There are physical, emotional, and psychologic effects that could impact a child not only short term but long term as well. When a child is victimized sexually, they are not aware of the victimization. These types of victimizations could last years before it is forced to stop. One of the sources describes a story where a women shares her experience of sexual child abuse. The story will explain what she went through emotionally after the incident. Even though it was a one time victimization, it still had a long term effect. • 32. Comparing Mozart s Argument With Classical Music Correlation vs Causation While the intelligence quotient can be shaped from a variety of sources ranging from biological to environmental influences, the correlation between an increase of IQ with classical music cannot be implied with a cause and effect relationship without consideration for other variables or a different interpretation of the relationship. Since the research did not specify the control variables within the experiments done on mothers, it is important to consider third variable problems in situations where the parents of the fetus may have an influence on the development of the baby based on their actions and genetics. For example, while all of the mothers were subjected to the same classical music, the variations between the habits of each individual may have effected the results through differences in the development of each infant (e.g. drugs, unhealthy diet, lack of eating). Replicability If findings of a study can be continuously replicated and continue to produce converging patterns of similar findings, the study can therefore be further strengthened as a theory. This article uses findings from a prior research experiment that claims that babies are able to hear sounds beginning at 16 18 weeks and builds upon this psychological finding to conclude that a fetus will develop a certain way because of external stimuli outside of the womb. However, while prior research has supported one theory, the effect of certain sounds on the brain pathways of a fetus in the belly of a mother during birth cannot be concluded since testing inside the belly of a mother was not conducted thereby requiring more evidence to support the claim. Furthermore, the research conducted for the Mozart Effect did not extend for years after each infant s birth so the effects of classical music could not be supported for the long term effects into the ... • 33. The Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood By John Everett Millais The Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood was founded by John Everett Millais, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, and William Holman Hunt who were students at the Royal Academy. Millais, Rossetti, and Hunt were dissatisfied with the academy teaching students to mimic renaissance masters like Raphael, and sought to create art reminiscent of the medieval period. In addition for their distaste for renaissance perfection in art the Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood were inspired by the theories of writer and art critic, John Ruskin. Ruskin encouraged artist to go back to nature, as well as show moral and material truth in their art via the use of symbols and more naturalistic depictions of nature (Harrison, Wood and Gaiger, 200). The Brotherhood at its inception strove to transmit a message of artistic renewal and moral reform by imbuing their art with seriousness, sincerity, and truth to nature. (Meagher) From Millais I will focus on one of his more famous paintings Ophelia, followed by Rossetti s Proserpine, and Hunt s Awakening Conscience. John Everett Millais Ophelia painted in 1851 is a depiction of noble woman Ophelia from Shakespeare s Hamlet. Ophelia s story is tragic as she loses the favour of price Hamlet who then goes on to kill Ophelia s father. Ophelia is driven mad by these event and is found dead in a brook, the scene depicted in Millais painting. • 35. The Importance Of The Heroic Tale Of Sundiata Throughout history, storytellers have used fantastic fables to entertain his or her audience. Filled with larger than life characters and amazing tales of heroism, on the surface these fables simply seem like mass entertainment much in the same way comic book heroes entertain us today on the silver screen. However, most of the time these epic, fantastic tales have a much deeper purpose for both the storyteller and the audience. While the stories aim to entertain, more importantly, the epic tales exist to hand down crucial histories from generation to generation. This is important to the culture in which the story takes place, and is a true observation for the story of Sundiata, the founding of the Mali Empire, and the descendants of these Mali people. While on the surface, the story is a heroic tale of Sundiata s early life as he overcomes many obstacles, defeats mystical and magical foes, and finally emerges triumphant, it is really a tale designed to teach the audience the history of the Mali Empire and the values and culture of the Mali people. This is tremendously important to the Mali people back when the story was first told and is still important to them today. As a historical oral epic, the tale of Sundiata tells the reader the story of the creation of the Mali Empire. The events of the tale take place during the early 13th century and detail the early, difficult life of Sundiata up until his final victory over the evil Soros. After this victory, Sundiata ... • 36. Macrocosm In Arcadia Paper 3 A main theme apparent in the play Arcadia is the concept of increasing entropy, the theory that objects will only decline from structure to chaos. Manifesting this theme through both the motif of human desire and the devolution of the structure of the play from order to disorder, Tom Stoppard suggests that the increase of entropy is apparent in microcosms as well as macrocosms. Stoppard uses human desire to create several relationships that decay over the course of the play as a metaphor for increasing entropy in the microcosm of Sidley Park. The play first introduces Mrs. Chater as the woman who was found in carnal embrace with Septimus (2). By starting the play with an affair, Stoppard introduces the idea that the free will of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the beginning of the play, the structure of the play is separated into two distinct timelines: one in the early 1800 s, one in modern day. Stoppard even tells us that The action of the play shuttles back and forth between the early nineteenth century and the present day (15). However, by the end of the play in scene 7, the distinction between the two timelines is blurred, with the past merging into the present as Lord Augustus is chased into the [present day] room by Thomasina (77). The play proceeds to have both past and present characters interacting on set at the same time, transforming the once separate timelines into an intricate disorder. Stoppard chooses to structure his play in this way to parallel the increasing entropy of the characters relationships. Likewise, Stoppard uses the table present in both timelines as a depiction of increasing entropy on a small scale. At the beginning of the play, the table only has an old fashioned theodolite and also some other books stacked up , which symbolizes order (1). However, during the course of the play, the table collects items as characters from both timelines set items upon it, and by the end of the play contains the geometrical solids, the computer, decanter, glasses, tea mug, Hannah s research books, Septimus books, the two ... Or have you ever struggled to understand why people need tent foots? We ll I m here to answer that. I think that it is important to know what a tent foot is because it is such a useful tool when camping, that it can save the underneath of your tent from damage while you are camping. So what is a tent footprint, really? Think of a tent footprint like the foundation of the tent. What this tent foot does is it protects the underneath of your tent from any wear and tear. Normally, tent foot s come attached to the tent itself so you don t necessarily have to worry about buying a new one. However, many tents are waterproof underneath. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Believe it or not, when you are doing the tossing and turning, you are causing abrasions on the ground material of the tent. Over time, the friction from those abrasions will tear the underneath of the tent apart. Are there any other uses for the tent foot? Tent footprints can be used as a form of insulation underneath your tent. When the tent foot is underneath your tent, the tent foot will trap warm air underneath your tent to provide you warmth for as long as possible. The tent footprint also makes sure that packing up the tent is as easy as possible. Since the tent itself will be on top of the tent footprint, the tent will stay dry underneath. That means that you don t have to spend as much time cleaning the tent before packing up. One other way that tent footprints can help, other than protecting the tent from damage, is by helping you place your corners of the tent. When you buy your tent, the tent foot will nearly be the exact dimension as the tent footprint. As for the waterproofing; just because some tents are waterproof, doesn t mean that a tent footprint cannot add an extra waterproofing layer underneath the tent. It is generally a good idea to have as many extra layers of water

Edward Lorenz one of the first proponents of chaos theory developed a weather prediction model and found out that the smallest changes at the one millionth of the decimal point can make his predictions useless, he called this result as butterfly effect. The butterfly effect is a theoretical example of chaos theory. The main premise of latter is that small changes in initial condition results in vast differences in final outcome. He found out that even this simple system behaves in an unpredictable manner and hence the three body problem is unsolvable. For understanding this solar system and other complex systems such as earth s weather system we would have to go in a different direction. That new direction is a new brand of science called THE CHAOS THEORY. 1.2) What is Chaos Theory Chaos theory is the field of study that studies about the behavior of the dynamical systems which are highly sensitive to initial conditions. This theory proposes that even small changes in initial conditions (such as rounding off of errors in numerical computation) results in vast differences in final outcomes for such systems. It is valid for deterministic systems also. Deterministic systems are those systems whose future behavior is fully determined by their initial conditions, no random elements are involved.
