Intelligent Electric Power Management Using Zigbee with Advanced Metering Inf...Akbar Badusha
This project mainly focuses on reduction of power cut and power theft. The main reason for the power cut is shortage of power in the generation unit. We can rectify this problem through our project.
Whenever the generation falls behind a particular limit (it is set initially by EB) the power management system will automatically switched on. Power will be supplied to only the basic necessary equipment (as stated in the priority list) power to other load will be stopped so that huge amount of power can be saved without power cut.
In our project, this is achieved using NS2 software and using ZIGBEE. Whenever generation falls below the particular value, then the load will be automatically switched off based on priority. And it can also be done through an interrupt. Through ZIGBEE command the interrupt will be sent to microcontroller to cut the power to the particular load.
When microcontroller receiving the command, the relay will cut the power to the equipment. So the power will be saved.
In this project, the method to detect and to control the power theft is also stated. Other methods of power theft like damaging, by passing electrical power meter can also be detected and can be punished.
Man power can also be reduced. The power usage of the customer will be automatically updated in the EB station so there is no need of man power to take meter reading in the user side. After every two months the reading will be automatically resetted.

Bill Carr, Senior Director, Transmission Analysis at Dynegy, uses AURORAxmp for short term, day-ahead forecasting.
In this presentation, he describes how AURORAxmp is front-loaded with transmission data from OASIS sites, with load, outage, fuel pricing and weather data from third-party vendors, and with load and fuel pricing and weather data from internal resources. The model is updated manually and automatically via linked data tables.
The updated model runs using AURORAxmp’s output templates. AURORAxmp gathers day-ahead and realtime numbers from the major trading hubs, and Carr reviews the numbers to make sure they make sense for the modeled time period.

He outlines what constitutes nodal hub prices vs. zonal prices, and discusses the role shift factors, congestion, and marginal losses have on prices. Based on work he has done modeling PJM with AURORAxmp’s Nodal Capability, including its LMP contributions output report, Bill shows how to identify those constraints that drive congestion-based LMP differences. Abstract- This paper presents a major revision of the Universal Four Leg ‘DC Grid Laboratory Experimental Setup’. This revision includes the reduction of current loops, the increase of efficiency in the power stage, the expansion of measurement possibilities and the re-specification of the input/output range.
To deal with an ever present complication in the world of measurements, simple fuse holders are converted into dedicated probe measurement connectors. These connectors reduce large ground loops to a minimum.
Key features include a clear board layout and silkscreen, a tremendous reduction of semiconductor losses resulting in a heatsink-less power stage and easy, reliable probe and power connections. Provisions are made for a Single Board Computer (SBC) to read and control the Universal Four Leg V4. The SBC can also be used to communicate with external devices to allow for remote control of the Universal Four Leg and the presentation of measurements performed.
The Universal Four Leg is a power management device with a wide range of applications in both higher educational laboratory courses, as well as a dedicated grid manager in low voltage DC-grids.
Fuzzy Based Analysis of Inverter Fed Micro Grid in Islanding Operation-Experi...IJPEDS-IAES
Islanding operation in essence connotes isolating part of a power system not unlike distributed generation. This thesis puts forward fuzzy logic controller for inverter fed micro-grid in islanding operations which is assessed using hardware implementation. It’s assisted by power electronics which imparts the control and flexibility essential for the micro grid concept. A correctly designed controller guarantees that the micro grid can meet its utility’s demands. The efficacy and robustness is deliberated in the design of fuzzy system. The testing is performed by employing hardware components namelyATMEGA-328microcontroller, TLP250 opto-coupler and a MOSFET circuit. The test results demonstrate very good consistency and show noteworthy implications of the control of micro grid using inverters and fuzzy controllers.
Power Plant Controller-Putting the Power back into the hands of the DeveloperSgurrEnergy Pvt. Ltd.
A system that provides the ability to control different parameters in a solar PV plant to achieve utility grid requirements is now necessary for grid stability.
The power plant should be able to maintain its performance even with voltage variation subject to availability of solar insolation data.
Power plant controller(PPC) is a reliable and flexible solution that can control different parameters present in Solar PV plant to achieve Utility grid requirements at POI(Point of interconnection). Power Plant Controller assurances
PV system developer's maximum yields and contributes to the stability of public utility grids.
The Client (Mr.Nizam Hashwani) procured services of Zorays SMC Pvt Limted to get the preinstalled 42.2kW solar power system tied with the K-Electric grid. This pre-installed system required retrofit to meet compliance with AEDB & K-Electric net-metering regulations.

Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

magnitude
• Large Gen at end of a line
• For an illustrative example
operating at a 0.7 power
factor can have 2 times the

generator operating at unity
power factor while maintaining
the same voltage
• $1M for 2 MVA dynamic VAr

• PV and PEV have significant impact on the grid
- New approaches are required to mitigate intermittency
- NEM customers do not pay
- “Smart” inverters are a necessary tool to traditional alternatives
- Need to change PUC and Rules
- Storage provides maximum flexibility
- Can operate as a generator or a load at any power factor
