Woza Moya Organization is an NGO
THE NGO THAT I HAVE CHOSEN IS THE WOZA MOYA ORGANISATION
1. DISCUSS THE REASONS FOR THE FORMATION OF THE ORGANISATION
Woza Moya was initiated by Sue Hedden who in 1998/9 was called to assist when the running of the
kitchen at the Buddhist retreat centre which was assisting the Buddhist and Zulu speaking and so the
workers would go to her for advice in helping them with problems they faced in their work place.
They mentioned their desire to learn to speak English. Sue had been trained in adult literacy and
decided to take this to another level. The classes soon became the highlight of the week. She soon
became aware of other issues such as HIV Aids. Sue had a school friend contact who was also an
executive director of the Aids foundation of South Africa, her response was immediate and laid out
some guidelines to follow and she contacted the stakeholders in the Ufafa community such as:
counsellors, traditional healers and parents to find out what issues people were facing and how to
respond. They began meeting with the various communities. Kitti Soro and Thani Saro Weinberg who
were resident teachers said they would raise funds to initiate the project. They also used friends in the
USA and the fundraising events began. Five years later the Woza Moya community centre was birthed
in 2005. The centre was relocated to the community of Ufafa. The name Woza Moya came into being
from her personal experience, which was when her fiancé Dave Everett took his own life, he was a

International growth/ New Market Disney has an opportunity to expand its movie production to such
countries as India or China, where movie production industries have developed good quality

The Pearl Greed Quotes Analysis
Greed is perhaps one of the most destructive forces in this world, it breeds anger, hate, jealousy, and
more. The novella The Pearl is based on how the finding of a pearl causes greed to be awakened in the
hearts of people and cause them to commit evil. During the Novella, Steinbeck develops the theme
that greed left unchecked can cause immoral behavior and that is show in the doctor, the attackers, and
Kino. All of them are forced by greed to commit sins that they otherwise would not do.
The doctor is someone who let his greed lead to immoral behavior.
An excellent example of greed consuming people are the attackers. They were willing to do whatever
was necessary to get the pearl from Kino and become wealthy. Greedy fingers went through ... Show

At the beginning of the story they both felt content and happy as show in this quote Sometimes it rose
to an aching chord that caught the throat, saying this is safety, this is warmth, this is the Whole. . They
did not even speak because their understanding was so great. But after Kino found the pearl his
relationship steadily deteriorates as shown in this quote Kino, she said huskily, I am afraid. A man can
be killed. Let us throw the pearl back into the sea. Hush, he said fiercely. I am a man. Hush. . That
shows that as time goes by Kino is acting ruder and harshly to Juana all because of the greed the pearl
caused. Another example is This thing is evil, she cried harshly. This pearl is like a sin! It will destroy
us, and her voice rose shrilly. Throw it away, Kino. Let us break it between stones. Let us bury it and
forget the place. Let us throw it back into the sea. It has brought evil. Kino, my husband, it will
destroy us. And in the firelight her lips and her eyes were alive with her fear. But Kino s face was set,
and his mind and his will were set this quote shows that Juana is becoming increasingly fearful yet
Kino is sure this is the way and is willing to do whatever is necessary to become wealthy. This causes
a strain between their relation. Finally the worst thing Kino commits is the act of attacked Juana. He is
described as a snake hissing at her and hitting her that makes her fall. He even continues to kick her
after she has fallen and she accepts it and knows he may even murder her. This shows that Kino has
broken all limits of humanity and is being consumed by

Family Honor And Obedient Sacrifice In The Scarlet Letter...
Family Honor Obedient Sacrifice
Varying from person to person, the ideology of family culture tends to differ. Many people would
define their own family culture differently, but there are times when it may overlap with another
person. Throughout our world, there are many cultures. These can be divided into subcategories such
as people or ethnic groups within a community to the social aspect of society. When it comes to
specific cultures, it may result in people behaving or thinking a certain way. This ties into conformity.
The question of whether or not conforming to society may bring honor or prevent shame to an
individual or group is something that could be debateable. This paper will be exploring the idea of
conformity between Scarlet Letter and Red Azalea. Both stories contain a womanly figure who takes
charge in dealing with difficulties that may arise.
The general idea of culture that is ingrained into the brains of many people, may consist of associating
culture with countries or ethnic groups. One of the main key points to this term is that it incorporates
much more than just those two aspects. When viewing it from a sociological perspective, culture can
be deconstructed into 3 components. Through background knowledge after taking a sociology class,
values, norms, and artifacts when combined, is what defines the term culture. These aspects that create
culture, can differentiate a family from one another. When taking the broad idea of culture and then
applying it

The Importance Of Italian Immigration To America
No Such Thing
Starting in 1890, Italian immigrants began to travel from their hometowns of Italy to their new world,
America. Known as the New Immigration, the transition became the third largest immigrating wave
from Europe. Records show, that in 1913 that the number of Italians living in America stood at an all
time high. Most of the Italian immigrants coming to the states had stepped onto American soil at Ellis
Island in New York City.
Four of the Italian immigrants that sailed across the Atlantic Ocean from Italy to embark on their
journey to America, existed as my great grandparents. Being a full blooded Italian means that I still
have some family members living in Italy. Having the cultural heritage of an Italian has had a huge
influence on my life due to the fact that I ve stayed surrounded by the culture ever since my
childhood. Some traditions of a normal Italian family consist of food, rituals, religion, affiliations, and
more food.
Baptizing a child in a Roman Catholic church, remains as one of the most important traditions in the
Italian culture. During this ceremony, the parents select a godmother and godfather for the child. As a
child, I experienced baptism and to this day I have my godparents. In the future, I plan on baptizing
my children, and keeping the tradition thriving. Every Italian family loves big meal and very tasty
courses. Every Sunday my entire family, all 15 of us, get together to have a family dinner. At this
dinner, we would talk about

Essay On Gratitude Is A Natural Anti-Depressant
Studies have found that regularly practicing gratitude has a positive effect on the firing of our brain
neurons, by way of activating positive emotion centers, ultimately changing our brain chemistry. It s
similar to forging a new path when walking through a wooded area. The first few times may be a bit
challenging and we have to be calculated and deliberate, but the more we travel the path, the clearer it
is and easier it becomes to follow. This change in brain chemistry leads to a heightened well being in
all realms mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and social. When these positive emotion centers are
activated, Dopamine and Serotonin are produced and have similar effects to many anti depressants. In
other words, gratitude is a natural anti depressant. Research has shown that consciously focusing on
our blessings improves our ability to self soothe as well as allows us to develop a more expansive
view of our lives. It opens space for more creative and flexible ... Show more content on

As humans, we have a tendency to pinpoint and pick out the things that aren t right. We complain and
moan and find ourselves miserable. We may even consider ourselves victims of life. The thing is,
though, is that each difficulty we find ourselves dealing with does in fact hold a gem of wisdom, and
can, if we so choose, become an opportunity to practice gratitude.
Life isn t out to get us. Life works for us and through us. Becoming more grateful ensures not only
more well being, but more opportunities to be grateful. It s simple law of attraction. What we focus
on, we will continue to experience. Of course, there will always be things that aren t going as we want
them to. The idea is that regular practice of gratitude strengthens our ability to simply see them, but
not attach ourselves to them, which will undoubtedly open space for us to witness the divine gifts and
miracles that are constantly bestowed upon us despite these

Community Health Nursing Reflection
According to Phyllis Meadows (2009), Community health nurses are valued for their adaptability and
willingness to provide care in many settings, including community health clinics, churches, homeless
shelters, and schools, (p. 19). Community health nurses aim to improve health outcomes and improve
the infrastructure used to monitor and manage disease within the community. Healthy People 2020 has
established benchmarks and monitored progress over time to improve health outcomes. Each
community has unique needs and the role of the community health nurse is to work with and provide

These factors can create barriers for a community nurse in providing care for individuals and
addressing the needs of the community. Because of diverse populations it is important that community
nurses develop cultural competence and are educated and prepared to address these differences within
the community.
Nursing diagnosis and interventions appropriate to use within this community include: Nutritional
deficiency related to lack of access to grocery stores. Interventions may include nutritional
assessment, identification and referrals to help resources (e.g., WIC or assistance office), and
education regarding appropriate foods needed to meet nutritional needs. A diagnosis of risk for fluid
volume deficit related to farming during high temperatures includes interventions such as educating
and emphasizing the need for adequate fluid intake during times of increased activities and high
temperatures and how to recognize signs of dehydration. Nursing interventions for a diagnosis of risk
for injury related to work environment/occupation or environmental wastes may include educating on
proper body mechanics and ensuring equipment in use is working properly and individuals are trained
how to use such equipment. Another diagnosis of risk of poisoning related to chemicals associated
with place of employment, high possibility of drinking water contamination, and presence of lead
paint. Nursing interventions for this diagnosis can include labeling chemicals

Three important lessons for Irish Retail Banking which can be drawn from the NTUC Case Study.
What are the implications of these lessons for your bank?
There are many learnings to be taken from the NTUC Income case study. The top three that I would
personally glen from it are:
Importance of investment in digital technology. The private business investment spend on IT
Technology consisting of hardware, software and communications equipment grew from 14% in 1999
to 33% in 2013 (2) This upward trend has been driven by customer s and their use of digital
technology via smartphones, tablets and computers. What are the benefits of technology for a
business? There are many, some of which are outlined below:
Reach more existing customers and develop a business relationship with potential customers
Streamline operations, reduce costs, improve efficiency, maximize profit, minimize waste, devote
talent to core business
Provide better service to customers
Allow customers to better guide the business
In 2017 customers no longer need to physically visit a branch unless they really want or need to. They
now can conduct their everyday banking requirements 24/7, 365 days of the year via mobile banking
apps and in most cases it is cheaper for them too, as banks are promoting their online options by

Power Of Power In Richard 2
Richard II is an authoritative and greedy king of England, and he is living in a period of transition that
medieval knights who are swearing total loyalty to a king has been disappearing and an aristocracy
starts to gain a power for their own good. However, Richard II keeps believing the power of kingship,
and he also is too confident himself. He overestimates his authority and power; furthermore, he
ignores the periodical change. Therefore, he speaks confidently how firm his position as king is to the
people in Wales, but his attitude changes when he suffers a defeat by Henry Bolingbroke that he
Richard II was going to Ireland to suppress a rebellion, but he had to come back when Henry
Bolingbroke, who is exiled from England, is coming back without permission and also with a large
force to his kingdom. He immediately goes to Wales to fight with Henry. What Richard II does first
after landing from the ship is give an order to the earth: Feed not thy sovereign s foe, my gentle earth,
/ Nor with thy sweets comfort his ravenous sense; / But let thy spiders, that suck up thy venom, / And
heavy gaited toads lie in their way, / Doing annoyance to the treacherous feet (Shakespeare 3.2.12 16).
This shows the authority that Richard II has. His authority as a king is so powerful that he can give a
commend to the earth, and the earth to obey him. However, he also feels that he may lose from the
fight: ere her native king / Shall falter under foul rebellion s arms (3.2.25 26).

Personality shapes almost every aspect of an individual s life, and being satisfied with one s job is not
an exclusion. The way an individual outwardly and inwardly assesses themselves, their position and
their career, will play a role in their job performance, and ultimately their job satisfaction, which is
defined by some merely as how content an individual is with his or her job, whereas to others, it is
more complex. Job satisfaction to them involves multidimensional psychological responses to one s
job. The Correlation between the Factor Personality Model and Job Satisfaction Statement of Task The
main purpose of this investigation is to evaluate the link between the Big Five Factor of Personality
and overall job satisfaction. To conduct this investigation, the Barrick and Mount (1991) meta analysis
of the correlation between job performance and the Big Five Personality Model will be used as a
guide. Over the last 20 years, unanimity has developed that the five factor model of personality, more
frequently referred to as the Big Five (Goldberg, 1990), can be used to define the most remarkable
aspects of personality. The Big Five structure has become metaphysical across scopes, cultures, and
sources of ratings (McCrae John, 1992). The Big Five has been researched in areas of industrial
organizational psychology, predominantly regarding job performance (Barrick Mount, 1991).

Personality Theories And Internet Testing
Personality Theories
Why has personality theories and internet testing created so much interest in the hiring process? Can
you judge a person s ability to perform the work just by giving them a personality assessment? Not
always, but in the process of hiring many organizations can rely on personality theories and testing,
which helps the process of pre selection. Personality theories help measure, cognitive ability,
knowledge, and personality of potential candidates. Employers today use pre assessment as part of the
selection process for multiple reasons. Personality theories and Internet testing is saves them time,
money and filter the candidates in the pre employment using personality traits.
Personality theories and Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT) are both effective methods. With the over
flowing job applications, personality theories and CAT helps reducing the overall time of the hiring
process. Time is a very important factor for any company. Personality theories and computer adaptive
testing are meaningful in the process of hiring because it saves time, saves money and is meaningful if
it is evaluated for reliability, validity and acceptability. Many tests are written specifically for business
settings and are likely to be deemed acceptable by job applicants. Most scholars now agree that
personality is determined by a combination of both genetics and environment, and that neither is
solely responsible for personality.
Computer adaptive testing (CAT) is a major

Diabetes Persuasive Research Papers
Studies continue to show a troubling health trend: the instances of diabetes, particularly type 2, are on
the rise in this country. Characterized by insulin resistance (insulin is not effective in the body) and
elevated blood glucose levels, type 2 diabetes can result in both neural and metabolic dysfunction and
lead to cardiovascular disease. When we eat carbohydrates, our blood glucose levels rise, either
quickly or slowly. Either way, once glucose has been released into the blood stream, the body can
move it out of the blood stream in two ways by storing it or by getting rid of it through uptake by the
muscles. The problem with diabetics of course is that storage of glucose requires mediation by insulin,
and this natural pathway is impaired by the disease. As I discussed in my last blog post, aerobic
exercise has been shown to increase muscle glucose uptake and improve insulin sensitivity. That s
why most diabetes management plans include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

movements exactly? They are movements that reflect the best aspects of weightlifting, gymnastics,
running, rowing and more. I love CrossFit because it focuses on the core movements of life. Lifting a
barbell over and over is not a real life movement. But squatting down to pick up a heavy bag is. And,
these exercises maximize the amount of work done in the shortest time. Of course, if you prefer to go
to the gym (or set up a home gym) to use free weights or weight machines, that s fine to. The idea here
is to simply start incorporating resistance exercises into your diabetic maintenance program. If you

Bear A Christian Hero In Crispin By Avi
A Christian Hero What does it mean to be a hero? By most accounts a hero must have some sort of
power; for instance super strength or the ability to shoot lasers out of their eyes. One may even think
of capes and tights, and others might think of a hero using their powers to stop crime or save a damsel
in distress. But, are these the only descriptions of heroes? The Institute for Faith, Work and Economics
describes Christian heroes differently. While Bear from the book, Crispin by Avi, lacked super powers,
he may be characterized as a Christian hero because he helped those in need, supported his friend, and
made personal sacrifices for others out of the kindness of his own heart. Throughout Bear s journey to
Great Wexly he helped those in need. More specifically, he helped Crispin, a boy who was in
desperate need of not only food and water, but also an identity. Bear first provided Crispin with bread
and then continued to provide him with his companionship. He had Crispin swear an oath to him in
order to protect the wolf s head from the dangers of the real world. Bear knew he would not survive

The Spirit of a True Diary g
Many people know Sherman Alexie as an award winning poet, author, and filmmaker. It should be no

How Does Economy Affect The Mexican Economy
The Mexican economy is currently the 15th largest economy in the world with a GDP of $2.2 trillion (

one among visitors to Latin America. A total of 8.9% of the country s GDP comes from tourism

My Spiritual Journey From Childhood
I would like to reflect on a few key moments of my spiritual journey from childhood that has led me
to my call to ministry. I do believe that as the prophet Jeremiah was called before his birth (Jeremiah
1:5) that some are called and know their purpose from an early age while others find their path later
after stumbling through life. Perhaps it might be that they have heard the call but were uncertain or
unwilling to answer the call. Looking back on my life s journey, I can see the God moments and how
they have influenced my faith journey. I was born on the West Indian island of St. Kitts in a large

I would say that I have quite an eclectic merging of different religions, doctrines enough to be able to

the island was in church on Sundays. At age 15, I rededicated my life at confirmation and began
teaching Children Sunday school classes. I can relate my story to the Prophet Samuel and King David
on some levels. At an early age, I can recall having prophetic dreams. My aunt and I would often have
similar prophetic dreams which we shared with each other and she would say to me You have the gift
as well. This became a special bond that we shared. I thought it special although a little scary because
I was told that I should not openly speak of it because most people would not understand. On the
morning of my mother s death when I was age 9, I told my aunt that we would hear news of a death.
Prophetic dreams were a part of my life then and are still today. It was not until much later in life that I
understood that it was a God call and connection and if God used that method of communication in
Biblical times, God can still communicate in that method today. This knowledge helped me to accept
this gift. In my later teen years, I moved to the United Kingdom and lived with my mother s brother

Such uniform, comprehensive and well established control practices are needed across all Sand s
casinos, including Singapore s very own Marina Bay Sands, for a consistent guest experience for
patrons in view of its international presence. In general, Sands satisfies the five dimensions of service
quality, especially Reliability and Tangibles . The nature of the gaming industry calls for the need to
provide a secure environment especially in the areas of reliability and tangibles . Managing cash
movements appropriately through the means of standard operating procedures can address the issue of
reliability ; on the other hand, ensuring surveillance are well maintained provides patrons with a sense
of security, fulfilling the tangibles of a gaming establishment ought to have.
Sand s international presence also requires its management to modify its control system in light of
differences in national cultures and regulations instructed by the government or its regulatory body.
For instance, Sands Singapore needs to adhere to additional control practices imposed by the Casino
Regulatory Authority (CRA) by imposing an entry levy of $100 to Singaporeans and Permanent
Residents.
Besides regulations, Sands should be concerned with profitability and employee satisfaction. The
group recommends training, empowerment and an internal hire policy as important factors when
addressing these two issues. Sands Singapore should ensure

The Help Analysis
In The Help , a film directed by Tate Taylor, an aspiring journalist and novelist named Skeeter is
bothered by the treatment black maids receive from their white employers. In order to open other s
eyes to said treatment, Skeeter decides to interview numerous black women and turn their troublesome
stories and unfair pasts into a published novel. One particular black woman, whom is named Aibileen,
shares with Skeeter her journal that contains both prayers and in depth, heart wrenching stories of her
life as a maid. Though I do not have any heart wrenching stories like Aibileen does, nor do I plan to
publish an eye opening book like Skeeter did, I do have a situation on my hands that bothers me. This
particular situation slightly reminded me of The Help in the sense that I also have a journal I have
been keeping about the issue at hand which is bothering me. Therefore, I found it fitting to follow the
example Aibileen and Skeeter set by doing something about their bothersome situation by attempting
to do something about my own situation. I have been a legal assistant at a law firm not far from my
home since the time I was sixteen years old. When I began working there, I had no previous work
experience apart from babysitting, I was not very outspoken, and I had zero legal knowledge.
However, a partner attorney recognized that I had a burning desire within me to learn and to become a
talented, successful, respectable attorney once I had graduated from high school. Therefore,

The rhyming and the supports from the speaker to be fearless teenagers that Strike Straight. We/Sing

lines that stress the differences of living life With a fine tooth comb (4) and like Maud, who went to

poem is also a unique quality this poem has, because the speaker clearly contrasts the life of a person

In Sadie and Maud, the theme is that one should go through life doing what one believes is right.
Listening to others opinions is important, but one should never make the mistake of altering one s
beliefs to fit the standards and expectations of others. In We Real Cool, the theme impresses upon the
reader that one should not follow in the footsteps of the speakers, for living an uneducated life full of
danger and alcohol only results in death. One s life then becomes wasted, with no accomplishments
and experiences of any worth. This poem also implies that one should never choose the road to death
when life is a choice, and that education and achieving goals in life is important. However, in relation
to Sadie and Maud, one shouldn t just learn, go to college, and forget to live after becoming hide away

Chickenpox Vaccination
Vaccination is widely considered by many as one of the greatest medical achievements of modern
civilisation. Childhood diseases that were common less than a generation ago are now increasingly
rare because of vaccines. With the widespread development of chickenpox vaccines throughout the
United State and around the world it is expected that the spread of highly contagious and life
threatening diseases are on the decline.
For the 22 years the chickenpox vaccine has been available in the US, vaccination has already
considerably reduced the total number of deaths and the medical costs for treating chickenpox. Prior
to the development of the vaccine in 1995 chickenpox affected about 3.9 million people each year in
the United States. About 90 percent of cases occur in children under age 10, primarily in winter and
spring. Since the vaccine was introduced, there has been a steady decline in cases of chickenpox. The
availability of a safe and effective varicella vaccine has reduced the impact of the disease
substantially.
A once common childhood infectious disease characterised by a rash and fever
According to national health care claims data from 1994 2012, The Centers for Disease Control or
CDC researchers found that there were 93 percent fewer hospitalisation for chickenpox in 2012
compared to before the vaccine was introduced. During the two dose varicella vaccination period
(2006 2012), hospitalisation declined 38 percent. Outpatient visits also dropped significantly.

Ian van Eyck Essay
Jan van Eyck was a master in style and symbolism, establishing a firm superiority in glaze technique
and delicately and elaborately applying subtle, yet powerful religious references to what at first glance
may seem simple portraits.
Van Eyck s drawing, Saint Barbara, completed in 1437, is an example of the artist s use of fictional
exotic or Romanesque style structures, suggestive of those from the Old Testament. (p.99 textbook)
Other symbolism includes the walled city that resembles a ziggurat, and on the church, the three
windows on the second level, feature the Trinity, the symbolism of their octagonal structure, and
baptism.

Mary is seen on multiple levels of the church.
Technically, Van Eyck was ingenious in his use of glazing. He would apply several coats of glazes
with pigments in linseed oil, one over the other, and his final coats of varnish allowing him to build up
an enamel like surface that had the depth and translucency of precious gems. (p.100 textbook) In
Madonna in the Church, Van Eyck uses small and intricate details as well as his color and light
techniques to blend form and symbol.
The Arolfini Wedding Portrait of 1434, a tiny piece representing the marriage of a young, well off
couple, is rich in both religious symbolism and technical skill. The artist placed a certain emphasis on
the use of disguised religious symbolism to play up this civil ceremony as a sacrament of the church.
Among the many symbolic references in this work, Van Eyck alluded to the representation of
hollowed ground by having the subjects remove their shoes and cover their heads. The shiny, clean
mirror and crystalline beads depict the purity of the bride, while the single candle in the chandelier can
represent the presence of Christ at the ceremony. The statuette of Saint Margaret can be seen as a
reference to the woman s role as wife and mother, and the clothing colors (green, blue, and white) are
Late Gothic symbols of the affection of a lover, faithfulness, and purity.

Management Styles Analysis
Management Styles
Management is a far running subject and there are many definitions of management. From my point of
view, management is described as a process to get something done in the business environment. It is
the person called Manager who gets various jobs done by assign works to people working with
him/her. How the Manager can get the things done effectively and efficiently is an important problem
that should be researched. Robert Tannenbaum and Warren H. Schmidt (1958, 1973), who argued that
the style of leadership is dependent upon the prevailing circumstance, therefore leaders should
exercise a range of management styles and deploy them as appropriate. In fact, a management style is
an overall method of leadership used by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apart from culture and law, different business customs also can influence management styles.
Business custom is part of a nation s culture. It has been formed in a long time, maybe several
decades, several countries, or even thousands years such as China and Japan. The custom includes
how to manage enterprise, how to treat customers, how to get along with leaders and subordinates.
Different countries and economic systems have different answers and standards. For example, in
China, face issue is important for individuals in traditional custom. And appreciation or
encouragements should be made before any criticism. If managers point out employees mistake in
front of other workers directly, the employee might feel ashamed and reluctant to cooperate with the
manager in future, which surely will bring barriers to management. There are also various customs in
different regions, management styles are also changing according to such differences.
I would like to take Japan and the US as examples to discuss how these key factors, culture, policy,
and customs influence management styles in specific circumstances. Obviously, Japan and the US
display an obvious contrast in the aspect of culture, society and ideology, etc. I would like to discuss
the features of Japan and the US at first.
First of all, the US is a nation with a large number of immigrants, which determines that its national
culture is identified with individualism. As is known to all, the US is

How Is Authority Shown In A Few Good Men
The movie A Few Good Men, made in December of 1992, is based on the premise of obedience to
authority as its primary message. Two marines, Lance Cpl. Harold W. Dawson and Private Louden
Downey were given orders from their superior, Colonel Nathan Jessup, to carry out what is called a
Code Red . A Code Red is a form of hazing when a particular private does not perform his duties up to
the marine corp standards. The two marines could not deny the order or else they would be punished
themselves. Private Santiago was the marine who was victimized by the Code Red and later died from
this extreme physical warning. This resulted in Dawson and Downey being arrested and set to trial for
attempted murder. Two articles that have similar messages and idea with this movie, are Just Do What
the Pilot Tells You by Theodore Dalrymple and Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem
by Erich Fromm. In Dalrymple s article he displays the idea of questioning the authority around you,
but understanding when it is appropriate to follow people with more credibility. In Erich Fromm s
article, there is a sense of mankind being evolved by various acts of disobedience. The author
discusses the moral violation of being obedient to authority vs. the social violation. Both articles
connect to A Few Good Men, because the decision to obey authority is a moral and social one;
furthermore, a vital part of obedience is thoughtfully judging the situation before one chooses whether

Hydrogen Fluoride Research Paper
Hydrogen fluoride is a highly dangerous chemical compound and pollutant. Hydrogen fluoride is a
colorless gas with a strong odor and gas that is extremely soluble in water ( Hydrogen 2015). When
dissolved in water, hydrogen fluoride is typically called hydrofluoric acid ( Facts 2013). It is one of
the strongest known acids with a pH of 1. It has a specific gravity between 1.15 and 1.18 and a
molecular weight of 20.10 grams per mole (Strategic). Hydrogen fluoride is commonly used in
industries. It is highly used in oil refineries, removing rust, and glass etching. It is also used in
everyday cleaning products, like car cleaners and water spot removers (ATSDR 1992). Hydrogen

pain, and redness of the can occur if it comes in contact with eyes. Ingesting large amounts, more than
6mg of the compound, can cause vomiting, burning of the digestive tract, diarrhea, and kidney damage
(Strategic). Long term exposure can cause hypocalcaemia and hypomagnesaemia (Ozcan 2011).
Hydrogen fluoride is also detrimental to plants and animals. Hydrogen fluoride raises the pH of soil
and kills vegetation. It is extremely toxic to aquatic life as well. The amount of Hydrogen fluoride in
water that effects aquatic life depends on the species. For instance, 60 ppm is lethal for fish in fresh

Internet Predators
Why we should be worried about the Deep web
Unknown to most, the Deep Web actually exists and only takes a few clicks on your computer to
access it, if you know what you re doing. Also unknown to most is the illegal activity and the online
predators that are roaming all over the web. These predators can be financial predators or sexual
predators. Throughout this essay I will be explaining three themes in chronological order. Financial
predators, sexual predators, and discussing why the illegal activity on the Deep web is bad for society.
Financial predators are everywhere on the web, and they might cost you a fortune. Financial predators

you think is safe. An example of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As thousands of sexual predators roam the web and on most commonly used sites, only 18% of youth
use chat rooms, however the majority of internet initiated sex crimes against children are initiated in
chat rooms. An example of a sexual predator could be an online predator targeting young victims
trying to get sexual related images from them by targeting young vulnerable people, unable to judge
the seriousness of the situation or through blackmail. This is what happened in the case of Scottish
teenager Daniel Perry earlier this year, resulting in his suicide. Sexual predators can also be connected
to the Deep web by exploiting nudity or sexual content of a child or young adult on a CP website,
which stands for child pornography. These can also be sold on the Deep web for an exchange of
bitcoin. These are just more examples of why we should be worried and most importantly informed of
how dangerous the Deep web is so we can avoid the bad situations we may come

Qualitative Solubility Test Lab Report
Discussion of Results:
In week one we performed a qualitative solubility test of our fats and oils, synthesized our soaps and
detergents, and performed a solubility test and lathering test for the soaps and detergents. We wanted
to test the solubility of our starting materials of the soap making process to understand the properties
of the materials. In our initial solubility test of the starting materials, we found that most of the
materials were insoluble. As you can see in Table 2.0, olive oil and vegetable oil were only soluble in
toluene and the shortening and lard were only partially soluble in acetone. In order to understand the
solubility of the soaps and detergents, after our synthesis and filtration, we performed a qualitative

As shown in Table 3.0, it was difficult to stir and combine the shortening and the lard with the sodium
hydroxide and glycerol. Though the oil based soaps were easy to make, they did not yield as much
compared to the fat based soaps. Table 6.0 shows that Soap 3 which was shortening based and Soap 4
which was lard based produced 11.18 g and 11.22 g, respectively. This was a much greater yield than
the oil based soaps. Soap 1 which used olive oil yielded 3.154 grams and soap 2 using vegetable oil
yielded 1.319 grams. This was something to consider when choosing which starting material to use
and depends on whether ease of synthesis or greater yield is more important. The detergent synthesis
methods were very similar but method 2 took less steps and was a bit easier than method 1. Table 6.0
shows that detergent 2 had a greater yield, 5.143 grams whereas detergent 1 had a yield of about 4
grams. The lathering test showed that though soaps 3 and 4 produced the most product of the soaps,
they did not create many bubbles or a good lather according to Table 7.0. The soaps/detergents that
produced the most bubbles were soap 1 which used olive oil followed by detergent 1 and then soap 2

The Importance Of Racial Diversity In High Schools
Literature Review
The racial climate at primarily white institutions has been widely publicized, especially as discussions
about political correctness in American society have increased. The University of Louisville was
criticized in 2015, when local news outlets publicized tensions present in the school s honors dorm
and the school s president, James Ramsey, faced backlash for donning a Mexican garb for Halloween
season festivities. The following literature review attempts to set a foundation for the discussion of
whether or not students are prepared to interact with students from racial backgrounds different from
their own, and whether or not students who have experienced discrimination in college expected to
when they chose the University of Louisville. High schools have recently made news for decades of
slow moving, but noticeable resegregation. Some communities have succeeded in producing lasting
integration, but others have been segregated by race, and often, income as well, leading to decreased
educational opportunity and achievement. More important to this study is the result that this
resegregation has had on the makeup of high schools many schools lack ample opportunity for
students to encounter classmates of different backgrounds. Resegregation has diluted the diversity at
high schools and left students unprepared for the potential increase in diversity they will experience in
college (Frankenberg). If minority students are discriminated against, it s

Public Security, Human Rights And Governmental Accountability
The assumption that by punishing the offender the victim receives justice is of dubious value today
because of the decreasing number of successful investigations and the still smaller number of
convictions in the criminal justice system. If the victim gets back his lost property he is lucky; if he is
not harassed and humiliated in the investigative and trial procedures he should thank his stars. Given
the sickening delay, corruption and technicalities in proof, many victims tend to keep away from
reporting crimes and sometimes take recourse to private vengeance. Either way, the criminal justice

Fission Vs Nuclear
There are many ways to fuel the world s needs for electrical power, but we acquire our needs mostly
from three energy sources: coal, natural gas, and nuclear energy (Cravens, 11). Yet from fossil fuels
the emission of carbon dioxide (~1400 grams CO₂ equivalent per kWh) and toxic waste produced
from the burning of aforementioned fossil fuels kills more than 20,000 Americans annually (Cravens,
13), while nuclear energy (and its outputs) have not killed a single human (as it is rather human error
that is the cause of the loss of life). One must also note the fact that if an American received all of his

Excessive Amount Of Asphaltene Deposition Essay
An excessive amount of asphaltene deposition may result in a severe formation damage and
sometimes blocking the flow path as seen in Figure 6c. Therefore, the injected solvent cannot further
diffuse deep into the matrix (due severe to asphaltene deposition) and eventually causes injectivity
problem. In this study, C5 injection resulted in the high amount of asphaltene deposition in porous
media (11.4 % per Figure 7) and it could block the main flow path, the fracture (as seen in Figure 6c).
The pressure profiles of C5 injection shown in Figure 8 can also explain the formation damage caused
by severe asphaltene deposition. At early time stage of solvent injection, solvent mainly diffuses into
the oil within the fracture path (while diffusing into the matrix as well) and recovered most of the oil
in this area (up to 80 minutes in Figure 8). Thereafter, the solvent is occupied the whole fracture and
due to the concentration gradient between the solvent and matrix s oil, the solvent diffused into the
matrix, dilute the oil by precipitation and deposition of asphaltene. Continuing solvent injection
resulted in more asphaltene deposition in the matrix and especially fracture matrix interface (where
the highest concentration gradient is) that eventually cause the formation damage and reduce the
injectivity. This can be seen in Figure 7 from time 90 minutes to 280 minutes where the injection
pressure increased until the time that was no injection at all (after about 280 minutes).

Divine Images In The Enuma Elisha And The Drama Of Scripture
Humans were made to have a relationship with God, other humans, themselves, and the world around
them. Throughout Genesis 1, we see the word good repeatedly, showing us that we were made in his
likeness. Humans shall have a relationship with their creator because he created them for him and to
serve him in the best way possible Man and women were made to have companionship, and reproduce
future generations to fill the earth with life. It is important that humans have a relationship with
themselves by being self aware of their mind and body. Humans must know their limits and be able to
maintain a healthy stable relationship with themselves, To grow and connect with God. Lastly, humans
were created to have a relationship with the world because it is important to take care of and interact
with the environment God gratefully gave us. Having a relationship with the world means that humans
were created to work for God and ensure we are watching over the work of God.
The view of divine images in the expert of The Enuma Elisha and the text, The Drama of Scripture,
are similar in a few aspects, but broadly different too. In comparison, humans were created through a
higher divinity to serve a God and follow his laws, but each in an entirely different way. In the scripts
of Enuma Elisha, Marduk was promised his word would become law, and much more if he won the
battle to earn his power. Whereas God did not have to fight to gain his power or right to laws, God s
word has always been

Essay On Financing Economic Development
One way to reduce inequality among countries is financing economic development in low and middle
income countries previously referred to as developing countries. Financing economic development in
developing countries has always been of interest to me. Ending extreme poverty in countries by 2030
is a major goal of the World Bank and the United Nations. Ending poverty involves raising income
and facilitating inclusive growth. Low and lower middle income countries require foreign finance to
bridge the gap between domestic savings and the fund required to finance development. Reallocating
savings from countries with excess savings to countries with deficit savings is a way to provide
foreign finance to low income countries. Reallocation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Domestic firms in host countries can benefit from foreign firms through imitation and labour turnover
which transfers managerial and production skills. However, foreign firms are more likely to pay
higher wages than domestic firms. This would limit the spillovers from labour turnover. In addition,
foreign firms are more likely to prevent technological spillovers to domestic firms to avoid
competition.
Private domestic and private foreign firms make up the private sector. Private sector is the engine of
growth. Improving the productivity of firms in the private sector involves improving productivity of
the economy thus, the economic growth. The private sector can provide more jobs than the public
sector therefore providing income for people. Government needs identify the constraints to firm
productivity. In addition, there is a need to identify the factors which could enhance how domestic
firms benefit from foreign firms and how foreign presence can improve skills and promote
entrepreneurship activities. These factors could be due to the characteristic of the foreign firm,
domestic firm or the country environment. Identifying these factors will facilitate designing policies to
enhance technological spillovers to domestic firms. However, lack of sufficient data to identify these
factors is a challenge to designing policies. In the last ten years, the World Bank has been able to
provide data on firms in countries through the World Bank Enterprise Survey. These surveys

What facts can I use to support my thesis or topic sentence? As you are writing down your questions,

The Watchman As A Hero In Alan Moore s Watchmen
A cornerstone work in the world of graphic novels, Alan Moore s Watchmen provides a rich plot for
readers while pushing them to question the world in which they live. One such question suggested by
the text is what it means to be a hero or a good guy , and to what extent bad acts are redeemable.
Through the Comedian, Moore provides a character who skirts the line between good and evil in that
he uses aggressive methods for achieving his goals, but is still considered a hero. Furthermore, the
Comedian, also known as Edward Blake, though not the only overly violent hero, is most always cast
in a negative light, with few redeeming qualities, suggesting that the small good he does is not enough
to outweigh the bad.
The identity of the Comedian is slowly revealed through the course of the book, with several key
scenes demonstrating his twisted worldview. One of the first sources of characterization is his
attempted rape of Silk Spectre. At that point in time, no other source of identity has been given, so for
the duration of the novel, the reader must absorb all new information knowing the evil he is capable
of, and has committed. In providing a negative first impression of the Comedian, Moore forces readers
to subconsciously interpret any new information presented about him in a dark light, and in doing so,
suggests that redemption is not possible for Blake. In addition, the juxtaposition of Blake as a hero
who first appears as a rapist forces the reader to take into question

Taxation Without Representation
Oppressors or Bullies? Taxation Without Representation Why weren t the thirteen colonies willing to
abide by England s laws? While some people were horrified with the Stamp Act, others were
completely accepting of this new act. Janis Herbert stated in her book, The American Revolution for
Kids, that after the French and Indian War, England had many debts, which obviously needed to be
paid (3). England s Parliament decided the American colonists needed to pay their debts for them.
England went about this matter by raising taxes and requiring a stamp for fifty different documents
(Gale Encyclopedia Par. 2). Since America was not yet a country, and had no representation, they were
trapped with the laws Parliament passed. Even though England was trying to pay off their debts from
the French Indian War, they went about it the wrong way, because they expected the American
colonists to pay by increased tax dollars. This is an example of taxation without representation,
because the American colonists didn t have representatives, or the opportunity to vote. To help pay off
their debt, England scheduled the initiation of the Stamp Act, which placed a tax on fifty different
documents, on November 1, 1765 (Gale Par. 2; Brindell 13). This act was to put a tax upon every
paper commonly called a pamphlet and upon every newspaper (Copeland 193). Because the Stamp
Act was an internal tax, which meant this tax law was only enforced in America, this made the
colonists even

The Banking Concept of Education and The Achievement of...
The Banking Concept of Education and The Achievement of Desire
Education is a topic that can be explored in many ways. Education is looked at in depth by both
Richard Rodriguez in his essay, The Achievement of Desire , and by Paulo Freire in his essay, The
Banking Concept of Education. After reading both essays, one can make some assumptions about
different methods of education and exactly by which method Rodriguez was taught. The types of
relationships Rodriguez had with his teachers, family and in life were affected by specific styles of
education. Based on Freire s essay, The Banking Concept of Education , there are two types of
education styles. We will use these educational styles to look at how they affected ... Show more

The idea that information is deposited from a teacher into a student fits the majority of Rodriguez s
educational experiences. As a young child, Rodriguez feels that books were going to make [him]
educated (Rodriguez 578). He never questioned what he was told by his teachers or what he read in
any book. He didn t develop ideas of his own or any critical thinking skills. Rodriguez says that he
was a great mimic; a collector of thoughts, not a thinker; the very last person in class who ever feels
obliged to have an opinion of his own (Rodriguez 581). This type of education helps us to understand
the relationships Rodriguez had with his mentor Richard Hoggart, as well as his school teachers and
parents.
Rodriguez initially uses Hoggart s book to categorize and describe his own experience as a student.
Once he reads Hoggart s work he finally feels that he has identified himself. He recognizes the
separation of home and school and how it is necessary to have this separation to become the type of
student he desires, an elite student. Separation from his family and culture is necessary because
Rodriguez sees the two as separate worlds. He must be removed from his original culture and family
life to achieve the scholarly elite status. He had to devote himself to his studies, which leaves him no
time for a family. After Rodriguez claims himself a to be an elite student, he justifies the steps he took

Emergency Response Team
Crisis Management Team There are several events that constitute a crisis, including but not limited to,
disruption of services, ethical misconduct of upper management, lawsuit, workplace violence, etc. In
the case of the university, issues like power outage could cause complete disruption for the 350
employees or string winds breaking the glass and causing employee injuries could cause a medical
emergency crisis. Since the crisis is so varied, the team involved could span multiple departments and
agencies including private and public enterprises to work in tandem with university policies to handle
the crisis. This team reports to the super umbrella of the Emergency Response Team.

This overarching direction will influence everyone at the university to be conscious and aware of the
purposeful direction of the universities viewpoint on disaster recovery and this affect the overall
resilience of the entire university as a whole, affecting the other layers.
Department Heads need to have their own continuity plans and be vocal about it by identifying critical
processes required for the same and ensure the department budget accounts for continuity. Based on
the estimated costs by each department, the University upper management needs to approve overall
funding for business continuity.
In case of the university, one of the essential functions is power and network. The university needs to
create processes that clearly define how power would be restored in case of outage to indicate the
level of resilience. These processes also determine security of the building as a whole. For example,
does the building go into automatic lockdown or only sections of the building go into lockdown but
others are open for people to leave and so on. Thus, the process layer will determine the exact actions
and give directions for the emergency response team.

Risk Is An Unspoken Meaning
At risk has an unspoken meaning. At risk is synonymous with at risk youth in Western Culture. At risk
is a phrase used in human services, the media, academia and government to identify young people
who are troubling or on the fringe of risky behavior. If you do a Google search of the phrase at risk
over 13 million images will appear most of which are of young people. Risk Discourse creates a risk
society in response to specific populations being on the fringe of what is deemed normal within
society. Risk discourse is a popular modernity term written at length by Modernist such as Ulrich
Beck and Anthony Giddens European Sociologists. A Risk Society was not even a term until the
1980s. In the 1990s Risk Society became popular and it acceptance coincided with the infiltration of
Risk Discourse into sociology, politics, literature and academia. There is an ongoing debate as to
whether environmental concerns created a vacuum for a risk society or if it was a by product of
immigration and the War on Drugs. Either way Risk Discourse and risk society language terms are
here to stay. Peter Kelly poses a question asking if young people are a society s most precious resource
then what does society need to do to adequately utilize this resource. He separates young people into
categories of income, young people are exposed to high risk setting more frequently than high income
youths. Peter Kelly makes this separation to demonstrate there is inadequate research available on

Display Rules In Children
Emotions are essential to children s development and their expression is an important part of
developing relationships (Zeman Gerber, 1996). Gnepp and Hess (1986) recognised that emotional
expression can voluntarily controlled and Choy (2007) recognised that emotional display can be
inconsistent with real emotion. This leads to display rules, the intentional regulation of emotional
expression to circumvent perceived repercussions of genuine emotion (Gnepp and Hess, 1986). An
example of this is a child not throwing a tantrum when in public (Saarni, 1981). Understanding how
these display rules develop in children, and when they are used, is crucial to understanding how
humans socialise as well as how children understand their emotions (Gnepp and Hess, 1986). ... Show

Gnepp and Hess (1986) found that school children were markedly more likely to employ display rules
when they were told a story where the child had an audience. Zeman and Gerber (1996) found that
school aged children showed more emotional restraint when around their peers than when alone or
with family members. Other research has shown that the majority of children aged 3 11 will tell a
white lie when faced with a bad gift if there is an audience there (Talwar, Murphy Lee, 2007). Saarni
(1981) found that children as young as three could employ display rules in situations where they may
be punished. Similarly, Banerjee (1997) found that pre schoolers could understand when it was
appropriate to apply display rules to avoid punishment. All of this research identifies that context, such
as presence of an audience or potential for punishment, is a critical factor in determining when display
rules are

We will first examine EU wide laws before discussing the impact of national laws on business life.
European Union wide laws
EU laws exist at two levels: (i) regulations that are binding on member states and (ii) directives that
are binding only through enactment of a law within the member state in line with the directive. A
major influence at European level is EU competition, which is based on the belief that business
competitiveness benefits from intense competition. The role of competition policy, then, is to
encourage competition in the EU by removing restrictive practices and other anti competitive
activities. This is accomplished by tackling barriers to competition through rules that form a legal
framework within which EU firms must operate. The objects of these legal rules are to: prevent firms
from colluding by price fixing, cartels and other collaborative activities competition is encouraged by
preventing firms joining forces to act in a monopolistic way prevent firms from abusing a position of
market dominance they are discouraged from taking such actions as monopoly and discriminatory
pricing, which could harm small buyers with little bargaining power control the size that firms grow to
through acquisition and merger the objective is to prevent firms acquiring excessive market power

School Uniforms And The Constitution
Argumentative Essay: School Uniforms and the Constitution
HOMETOPICAPPEALSREFUTATIONSOURCE ESSAY School Uniforms School uniforms are
becoming a popular trend amongst schools. Students and even most parents don t agree with the
enforcement with school uniforms; stating that uniforms take away the right of self expression. School
uniforms are not a negative thing to have. Yes, uniforms limit what the students have to choose to
wear to school every day, but it doesn t limit them from learning; the only reason they are in school.
Student treat school as a fashion show, so eliminating that puts the students full focus on schoolwork.
Although requiring students to wear school uniforms may violate their self expression in some ways, a
uniform are supposed to be looked upon as a positive thing, because they eliminate bullying, combine
social classes and gives the school campus a professional look. The most common argument against
school uniforms is that they take away the students right to self expression. Yes, school uniforms limit
what the students have to wear, but he/she can still have their own ways of self expression. Students
can still express their style of choice by the way he/she styles their hair and what accessories they
choose to wear. Their shoe choice is also a form of self expression. Students can make the uniforms
their own style without

  • 4. The Pearl Greed Quotes Analysis Greed is perhaps one of the most destructive forces in this world, it breeds anger, hate, jealousy, and more. The novella The Pearl is based on how the finding of a pearl causes greed to be awakened in the hearts of people and cause them to commit evil. During the Novella, Steinbeck develops the theme that greed left unchecked can cause immoral behavior and that is show in the doctor, the attackers, and Kino. All of them are forced by greed to commit sins that they otherwise would not do. The doctor is someone who let his greed lead to immoral behavior. An excellent example of greed consuming people are the attackers. They were willing to do whatever was necessary to get the pearl from Kino and become wealthy. Greedy fingers went through ... At the beginning of the story they both felt content and happy as show in this quote Sometimes it rose to an aching chord that caught the throat, saying this is safety, this is warmth, this is the Whole. . They did not even speak because their understanding was so great. But after Kino found the pearl his relationship steadily deteriorates as shown in this quote Kino, she said huskily, I am afraid. A man can be killed. Let us throw the pearl back into the sea. Hush, he said fiercely. I am a man. Hush. . That shows that as time goes by Kino is acting ruder and harshly to Juana all because of the greed the pearl caused. Another example is This thing is evil, she cried harshly. This pearl is like a sin! It will destroy us, and her voice rose shrilly. Throw it away, Kino. Let us break it between stones. Let us bury it and forget the place. Let us throw it back into the sea. It has brought evil. Kino, my husband, it will destroy us. And in the firelight her lips and her eyes were alive with her fear. But Kino s face was set, and his mind and his will were set this quote shows that Juana is becoming increasingly fearful yet Kino is sure this is the way and is willing to do whatever is necessary to become wealthy. This causes a strain between their relation. Finally the worst thing Kino commits is the act of attacked Juana. He is described as a snake hissing at her and hitting her that makes her fall. He even continues to kick her after she has fallen and she accepts it and knows he may even murder her. This shows that Kino has broken all limits of humanity and is being consumed by ... • 5. Family Honor And Obedient Sacrifice In The Scarlet Letter... Family Honor Obedient Sacrifice Varying from person to person, the ideology of family culture tends to differ. Many people would define their own family culture differently, but there are times when it may overlap with another person. Throughout our world, there are many cultures. These can be divided into subcategories such as people or ethnic groups within a community to the social aspect of society. When it comes to specific cultures, it may result in people behaving or thinking a certain way. This ties into conformity. The question of whether or not conforming to society may bring honor or prevent shame to an individual or group is something that could be debateable. This paper will be exploring the idea of conformity between Scarlet Letter and Red Azalea. Both stories contain a womanly figure who takes charge in dealing with difficulties that may arise. The general idea of culture that is ingrained into the brains of many people, may consist of associating culture with countries or ethnic groups. One of the main key points to this term is that it incorporates much more than just those two aspects. When viewing it from a sociological perspective, culture can be deconstructed into 3 components. Through background knowledge after taking a sociology class, values, norms, and artifacts when combined, is what defines the term culture. These aspects that create culture, can differentiate a family from one another. When taking the broad idea of culture and then applying it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Known as the New Immigration, the transition became the third largest immigrating wave from Europe. Records show, that in 1913 that the number of Italians living in America stood at an all time high. Most of the Italian immigrants coming to the states had stepped onto American soil at Ellis Island in New York City. Four of the Italian immigrants that sailed across the Atlantic Ocean from Italy to embark on their journey to America, existed as my great grandparents. Being a full blooded Italian means that I still have some family members living in Italy. Having the cultural heritage of an Italian has had a huge influence on my life due to the fact that I ve stayed surrounded by the culture ever since my childhood. Some traditions of a normal Italian family consist of food, rituals, religion, affiliations, and more food. Baptizing a child in a Roman Catholic church, remains as one of the most important traditions in the Italian culture. During this ceremony, the parents select a godmother and godfather for the child. As a child, I experienced baptism and to this day I have my godparents. In the future, I plan on baptizing my children, and keeping the tradition thriving. Essay On Gratitude Is A Natural Anti-Depressant Studies have found that regularly practicing gratitude has a positive effect on the firing of our brain neurons, by way of activating positive emotion centers, ultimately changing our brain chemistry. It s similar to forging a new path when walking through a wooded area. The first few times may be a bit challenging and we have to be calculated and deliberate, but the more we travel the path, the clearer it is and easier it becomes to follow. This change in brain chemistry leads to a heightened well being in all realms mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and social. When these positive emotion centers are activated, Dopamine and Serotonin are produced and have similar effects to many anti depressants. In other words, gratitude is a natural anti depressant. Power Of Power In Richard 2 Richard II is an authoritative and greedy king of England, and he is living in a period of transition that medieval knights who are swearing total loyalty to a king has been disappearing and an aristocracy starts to gain a power for their own good. However, Richard II keeps believing the power of kingship, and he also is too confident himself. He overestimates his authority and power; furthermore, he ignores the periodical change. Therefore, he speaks confidently how firm his position as king is to the people in Wales, but his attitude changes when he suffers a defeat by Henry Bolingbroke that he Richard II was going to Ireland to suppress a rebellion, but he had to come back when Henry Bolingbroke, who is exiled from England, is coming back without permission and also with a large force to his kingdom. He immediately goes to Wales to fight with Henry. What Richard II does first after landing from the ship is give an order to the earth: Feed not thy sovereign s foe, my gentle earth, / Nor with thy sweets comfort his ravenous sense; / But let thy spiders, that suck up thy venom, / And heavy gaited toads lie in their way, / Doing annoyance to the treacherous feet (Shakespeare 3.2.12 16). This shows the authority that Richard II has. His authority as a king is so powerful that he can give a commend to the earth, and the earth to obey him. However, he also feels that he may lose from the fight: ere her native king / Shall falter under foul rebellion s arms (3.2.25 26). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Personality shapes almost every aspect of an individual s life, and being satisfied with one s job is not an exclusion. The way an individual outwardly and inwardly assesses themselves, their position and their career, will play a role in their job performance, and ultimately their job satisfaction, which is defined by some merely as how content an individual is with his or her job, whereas to others, it is more complex. Job satisfaction to them involves multidimensional psychological responses to one s job. • 13. Personality Theories And Internet Testing Personality Theories Why has personality theories and internet testing created so much interest in the hiring process? Can you judge a person s ability to perform the work just by giving them a personality assessment? Not always, but in the process of hiring many organizations can rely on personality theories and testing, which helps the process of pre selection. Personality theories help measure, cognitive ability, knowledge, and personality of potential candidates. Employers today use pre assessment as part of the selection process for multiple reasons. Personality theories and Internet testing is saves them time, money and filter the candidates in the pre employment using personality traits. • 14. Diabetes Persuasive Research Papers Studies continue to show a troubling health trend: the instances of diabetes, particularly type 2, are on the rise in this country. Characterized by insulin resistance (insulin is not effective in the body) and elevated blood glucose levels, type 2 diabetes can result in both neural and metabolic dysfunction and lead to cardiovascular disease. When we eat carbohydrates, our blood glucose levels rise, either quickly or slowly. Either way, once glucose has been released into the blood stream, the body can move it out of the blood stream in two ways by storing it or by getting rid of it through uptake by the muscles. The problem with diabetics of course is that storage of glucose requires mediation by insulin, and this natural pathway is impaired by the disease. • 15. Bear A Christian Hero In Crispin By Avi A Christian Hero What does it mean to be a hero? By most accounts a hero must have some sort of power; for instance super strength or the ability to shoot lasers out of their eyes. One may even think of capes and tights, and others might think of a hero using their powers to stop crime or save a damsel in distress. But, are these the only descriptions of heroes? The Institute for Faith, Work and Economics describes Christian heroes differently. While Bear from the book, Crispin by Avi, lacked super powers, he may be characterized as a Christian hero because he helped those in need, supported his friend, and made personal sacrifices for others out of the kindness of his own heart. Throughout Bear s journey to Great Wexly he helped those in need. More specifically, he helped Crispin, a boy who was in desperate need of not only food and water, but also an identity. Bear first provided Crispin with bread and then continued to provide him with his companionship. He had Crispin swear an oath to him in order to protect the wolf s head from the dangers of the real world. I do believe that as the prophet Jeremiah was called before his birth (Jeremiah 1:5) that some are called and know their purpose from an early age while others find their path later after stumbling through life. Perhaps it might be that they have heard the call but were uncertain or unwilling to answer the call. Looking back on my life s journey, I can see the God moments and how they have influenced my faith journey. I was born on the West Indian island of St. Kitts in a large Methodist family. On the morning of my mother s death when I was age 9, I told my aunt that we would hear news of a death. Prophetic dreams were a part of my life then and are still today. It was not until much later in life that I understood that it was a God call and connection and if God used that method of communication in Biblical times, God can still communicate in that method today. In order to open other s eyes to said treatment, Skeeter decides to interview numerous black women and turn their troublesome stories and unfair pasts into a published novel. One particular black woman, whom is named Aibileen, shares with Skeeter her journal that contains both prayers and in depth, heart wrenching stories of her life as a maid. Though I do not have any heart wrenching stories like Aibileen does, nor do I plan to publish an eye opening book like Skeeter did, I do have a situation on my hands that bothers me. This particular situation slightly reminded me of The Help in the sense that I also have a journal I have been keeping about the issue at hand which is bothering me. Therefore, I found it fitting to follow the example Aibileen and Skeeter set by doing something about their bothersome situation by attempting to do something about my own situation. Childhood diseases that were common less than a generation ago are now increasingly rare because of vaccines. With the widespread development of chickenpox vaccines throughout the United State and around the world it is expected that the spread of highly contagious and life threatening diseases are on the decline. The Arolfini Wedding Portrait of 1434, a tiny piece representing the marriage of a young, well off couple, is rich in both religious symbolism and technical skill. The artist placed a certain emphasis on the use of disguised religious symbolism to play up this civil ceremony as a sacrament of the church. Among the many symbolic references in this work, Van Eyck alluded to the representation of hollowed ground by having the subjects remove their shoes and cover their heads. The shiny, clean mirror and crystalline beads depict the purity of the bride, while the single candle in the chandelier can represent the presence of Christ at the ceremony. A Code Red is a form of hazing when a particular private does not perform his duties up to the marine corp standards. Yet from fossil fuels the emission of carbon dioxide (~1400 grams CO₂ equivalent per kWh) and toxic waste produced from the burning of aforementioned fossil fuels kills more than 20,000 Americans annually (Cravens, 13), while nuclear energy (and its outputs) have not killed a single human (as it is rather human error that is the cause of the loss of life). One must also note the fact that if an American received all of his or her electricity from fossil fuels over a lifespan of about 75 years, that person s pile of waste would weigh 68.5 tons compared to the two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 2013, a study conducted by NASA shows that nuclear energy has prevented 1.84 million deaths from 1971 to 2009 with an average of 79,000 deaths (prevented)/ year from 2000 to 2009 (Kharecha and Hansen, 3). Even if one were to include the death tolls from both Chernobyl and Fukushima, nuclear energy ranks last in death per unit generated per year (see fig. 2). And although nuclear waste is toxic and harmful to humans (as it can cause cancer and death), it is usually stored in a safe location away from other resources and most importantly, away from humans. On the other hand, the toxic byproducts of fossil fuels are being released into the air every day. And by reducing the amount of fossil fuels burned, countless cases of cancer and lung disease as well as coal mining accidents have been avoided. • 36. Excessive Amount Of Asphaltene Deposition Essay An excessive amount of asphaltene deposition may result in a severe formation damage and sometimes blocking the flow path as seen in Figure 6c. Therefore, the injected solvent cannot further diffuse deep into the matrix (due severe to asphaltene deposition) and eventually causes injectivity problem. In this study, C5 injection resulted in the high amount of asphaltene deposition in porous media (11.4 % per Figure 7) and it could block the main flow path, the fracture (as seen in Figure 6c). The pressure profiles of C5 injection shown in Figure 8 can also explain the formation damage caused by severe asphaltene deposition. At early time stage of solvent injection, solvent mainly diffuses into the oil within the fracture path (while diffusing into the matrix as well) and recovered most of the oil in this area (up to 80 minutes in Figure 8). Thereafter, the solvent is occupied the whole fracture and due to the concentration gradient between the solvent and matrix s oil, the solvent diffused into the matrix, dilute the oil by precipitation and deposition of asphaltene. Continuing solvent injection resulted in more asphaltene deposition in the matrix and especially fracture matrix interface (where the highest concentration gradient is) that eventually cause the formation damage and reduce the injectivity. This can be seen in Figure 7 from time 90 minutes to 280 minutes where the injection pressure increased until the time that was no injection at all (after about 280 minutes). ... • 43. The Watchman As A Hero In Alan Moore s Watchmen A cornerstone work in the world of graphic novels, Alan Moore s Watchmen provides a rich plot for readers while pushing them to question the world in which they live. One such question suggested by the text is what it means to be a hero or a good guy , and to what extent bad acts are redeemable. Through the Comedian, Moore provides a character who skirts the line between good and evil in that he uses aggressive methods for achieving his goals, but is still considered a hero. Furthermore, the Comedian, also known as Edward Blake, though not the only overly violent hero, is most always cast in a negative light, with few redeeming qualities, suggesting that the small good he does is not enough to outweigh the bad. The identity of the Comedian is slowly revealed through the course of the book, with several key scenes demonstrating his twisted worldview. One of the first sources of characterization is his attempted rape of Silk Spectre. At that point in time, no other source of identity has been given, so for the duration of the novel, the reader must absorb all new information knowing the evil he is capable of, and has committed. In providing a negative first impression of the Comedian, Moore forces readers to subconsciously interpret any new information presented about him in a dark light, and in doing so, suggests that redemption is not possible for Blake. In addition, the juxtaposition of Blake as a hero who first appears as a rapist forces the reader to take into question ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Taxation Without Representation Oppressors or Bullies? Taxation Without Representation Why weren t the thirteen colonies willing to abide by England s laws? While some people were horrified with the Stamp Act, others were completely accepting of this new act. Janis Herbert stated in her book, The American Revolution for Kids, that after the French and Indian War, England had many debts, which obviously needed to be paid (3). England s Parliament decided the American colonists needed to pay their debts for them. England went about this matter by raising taxes and requiring a stamp for fifty different documents (Gale Encyclopedia Par. 2). Since America was not yet a country, and had no representation, they were trapped with the laws Parliament passed. Even though England was trying to pay off their debts from the French Indian War, they went about it the wrong way, because they expected the American colonists to pay by increased tax dollars. This is an example of taxation without representation, because the American colonists didn t have representatives, or the opportunity to vote. To help pay off their debt, England scheduled the initiation of the Stamp Act, which placed a tax on fifty different documents, on November 1, 1765 (Gale Par. 2; Brindell 13). This act was to put a tax upon every paper commonly called a pamphlet and upon every newspaper (Copeland 193). He didn t develop ideas of his own or any critical thinking skills. Rodriguez initially uses Hoggart s book to categorize and describe his own experience as a student. Once he reads Hoggart s work he finally feels that he has identified himself. He recognizes the separation of home and school and how it is necessary to have this separation to become the type of student he desires, an elite student. Separation from his family and culture is necessary because Rodriguez sees the two as separate worlds. At risk is a phrase used in human services, the media, academia and government to identify young people who are troubling or on the fringe of risky behavior. If you do a Google search of the phrase at risk over 13 million images will appear most of which are of young people. Risk Discourse creates a risk society in response to specific populations being on the fringe of what is deemed normal within society. Risk discourse is a popular modernity term written at length by Modernist such as Ulrich Beck and Anthony Giddens European Sociologists. A Risk Society was not even a term until the 1980s. In the 1990s Risk Society became popular and it acceptance coincided with the infiltration of Risk Discourse into sociology, politics, literature and academia. There is an ongoing debate as to whether environmental concerns created a vacuum for a risk society or if it was a by product of immigration and the War on Drugs. Either way Risk Discourse and risk society language terms are here to stay. Peter Kelly poses a question asking if young people are a society s most precious resource then what does society need to do to adequately utilize this resource. Gnepp and Hess (1986) recognised that emotional expression can voluntarily controlled and Choy (2007) recognised that emotional display can be inconsistent with real emotion. This leads to display rules, the intentional regulation of emotional expression to circumvent perceived repercussions of genuine emotion (Gnepp and Hess, 1986). An example of this is a child not throwing a tantrum when in public (Saarni, 1981). Understanding how these display rules develop in children, and when they are used, is crucial to understanding how humans socialise as well as how children understand their emotions (Gnepp and Hess, 1986). ...
