Great Halifax Explosion Case Study
On December 6 1917, hundreds were left dead in Halifax, Nova Scotia due to a human error quick to be immortalized. CBC news says the Imo, a Belgian
relief vessel that left the Halifax Harbor behind schedule on the morning of December 6. Another vessel the Mont Blank, a cargo ship leaded with explosive
materials, was entering. The Captain of the Imo disregarded the laws of the sea, going over the speed limit for the narrows of the harbor and traversing it from
the wrong direction. Both the Imo and Mont Blank moved toward each other, each unwilling to change course. The ships made evasive maneuvers at the same
time, causing the vessels to scrape against each other; the sparks from the collision set aflame the explosive materials aboard the Mont ... Show more content

The very existence of disaster photography proves this. Voyeur as defined by the Oxford Dictionary is a person who enjoys seeing the pain or distress of
others. Why would humans continuously photograph others suffering if they did not gain some pleasure from it? Photographers might say that the motives of
disaster photography are to document and expose horrors around the world. The intention of the photographer about how the photo should be received and
how it is actually received can be quite different. An example of how humanity s voyeuristic tendencies effects how viewers react to a photo is given by Susan
Sontag in her book Regarding the Pain of Others. When photographs of suffering are staged, people are surprised to learn they were staged, and always
disappointed instead of celebrating the fact that the suffering was not real (55). This disappointment is felt because of the need to observe genuine suffering.
The photos of the Halifax disaster used to make postcards are real and it is because of humanity s voyeuristic tendencies that there is a market for these

The Industrial Revolution that Changed the Face of the World
The Industrial Revolution that changed the face of the world: Imagine life without education and the only source of income for a family to survive is through
subsistence farming. Consider life without electricity and the only source of transportation was on foot or horseback riding, if you were fortune enough to
afford a horse. During this time communication was also limited and extremely difficult. Life began to change as the Industrial Revolution impacted lives from
Great Britain to the United States by introducing new technologies such as the telephone, coal mining and the steamboat. Many children were deprived of
getting an education in order to assist with the rapid growth of the new industrial world that changed the face of the new world.
No one can deny that telephones are the number one source of communication between nations making the productions of goods flow easy. The telegraph was
the only way nations were able to communicate which consist of dashes and ticks to send messages (Bellis). The telephone was invented in 1876 by Alexander
Graham Bell. Telephones helped with massive production of goods the telephone brought change to the industrial because it was a new way of talking. (How,

Church History Paper I

Requirements for Church History CHHI 301 By Brittany N. Askew February 6, 2012 Brittany Askew 06 February 2012 CHHI301_B04 Paper 1 Introduction
The process by which Scripture has been preserved and compiled is one whose history is worth noting. The early church had many opportunities to share the
Good News of Christ via word of mouth, but from the time of Christ s resurrection until the mid second century, there had not been a single culmination of
writings considered to be essential for the purposes of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marcion believed that the Jewish Scriptures only concerned the covenant between God and the Jews of Israel, and therefore was no longer valid for the
Christian church. In his mind, these were two very separate Gods. When noticing that several of Paul s writings made mention of the God of Israel, Marcion
claimed that those writings were not Paul s original texts, and should be considered counterfeit. Marcion s views of Paul s forged portions of his letters can be
attributed to what many theologians today might call the Slippery Slope Argument. In this case, Marcion chose not to trust in the inerrancy of what God had
spoken to Paul. Paul s writing s were flawed, or someone must have tampered with them. This lack of trust in inerrancy would ultimately allow Marcion to fall
down a slippery slope , giving way to forsake other important Christian foundational truths. As his ideologies became more widespread, it became obvious that
Marcion s views on creation were radically reinterpreted (or misinterpreted, better yet), as well as his opinions on the doctrines of incarnation and the
resurrection. Ultimately, the church at large came to the conclusion that his doctrines contradicted several fundamental points in Christian doctrine. It forced
the church to make a case for the value and status of the Jewish scriptures it had adopted as its own, and it prompted

Guns Are Needed in America
The Constitution of the United States gives the reason why Americans can own guns; A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State,
the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed (Amendment II). The Second Amendment of the Constitution was ratified on December
15, 1791 because the Founding Fathers of the United States of America understood that guns were necessary for hunting, protection, and military involvement.
The Founding Fathers understood that life apart from guns would be virtually impossible. Today, guns are necessary for the same reasons that they were
necessary 225 years ago, but some things must be done to make guns more safe; in fact, many of the problems that guns are related to, can be solved.
Many Americans believe that guns are no longer necessary and that they create more harm than good. These people believe that guns should be banned. The
banning of guns in America would not stop crime or even reduce it; instead, that proposal would have a negative effect on crime rates, as well as a negative
effect on many other things in America.
Guns have always existed in America; guns actually existed before the United States of America was established. According to 2014 statistics, around three
hundred million guns are in America, and 31% of American households own one or more guns (Alpers et al). Banning guns would not only have

Theme Of Coming Of Age In Mississippi
Coming of age in Mississippi is an autobiography written by an activist Anne Moody, also known as Essie Mae, about growing up in the poor southern part of
Mississippi as an African American in the middle 20th century. It consist of four part; childhood, high school, college and The Movement. The absurdity of
racial distinctions, the evil of disunity among blacks in the face of white oppression and the destructive power of prejudice are the three theme of this
autobiography. There was always a discrimination between the blacks and the whites. The whites would publically insult black and announce that they were
genetically inferior to white. This made Anne want to know what made them different to whites. One day she made her white friends undress

Importance of Recycling at the University Essay
Importance of Recycling at the University
I remember my first semester here at the University and the dark halls of the Bates House Residence Hall. Many a party was concluded with an idea for what
to do with the endless piles of cans that had congregated on the floor. One idea, I remember, was to wall someone into his room and another was to see how
many we could stand on end without toppling. But, we usually just ended up throwing them in the trashcans in our refuse room. Sometimes out of the five
trashcans in the room set aside for trash disposal, three or four would be completely filled with hundreds of cans of various beverages. Upon further
contemplation, I can also remember the small, blue bucket that was thrown ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The truth is, however, that with the amount of money the University spends on other endeavors, it cannot afford not to update its recycling campaign. The only
way to do that is to help make recycling appeal to more of the vast student population that currently attends our University. How might this be done? The
University already places a recycling bin in every dorm room around the campus; anything more would exceed the current funding for the recycling project.
Perhaps the institution of a recycling center at the Russell House could cause the impulse to become a habit. But, that would take too much money with the
salaries of workers and the annexing of what would amount to a new wing of the building to consider for too long. Another solution could be to have the
students elect a recycling committee to evaluate the problem and decide on the appropriate solution. However, I feel that with the current lull in our recycling
campaign, even that would be ineffective. As an altrenative to these two solutions I propose that we, as students and faculty united, institute a plan that is so
simple it is already in place in many of the high schools around the state. I propose a system of rewards.
How many of us have walked past the Russell House only to hear the cry, Free T shirt for your application? The interested people walk to the table where a

The Paper Is Centered On The Discussion Of The New Testament
The paper is centered on the discussion of the New Testament Letter Structures, specifically the Epistles. Style, format, and authorship will be some of the
main points of discussion. How is the reader to use this information to determine, not just who the author is, but to whom is the author speaking too? The letter

Reviewing Epistolary Literature, as it relates to the New Testament consists of twenty one writings that display the formal features of a letter to varying
degrees, along with letters embedded within other books. Since this literature was written primarily during the first century C.E., it mirrors the formal features
of Hellenistic epistolary writing. Letter writing in Hellenism followed a stereotypical form: The Epistles were generally written in the form of: 1) Opening or
Prescript. This consists of three parts; the author s name, the addressee s name, and a greeting. 2) Body. The purpose of the letter is elaborated. 3) Closing.
Usually consists of a final greeting. The letters expressed a relationship of friendship between two parties and was to have a certain presence about it,
substituting for the actual presence of the writer. Thus, a person would write to someone as if he or she were present . To see this format, the reader can review

Grinding Is A Metal Cutting Operation
Grinding is a metal cutting operation performed by means of abrasive particles rigidly mounted on a rotating wheel. Each of the abrasive particles act as a
single point cutting tool and grinding wheel acts as a multipoint cutting tool. The grinding operation is used to finish the work pieces with extremely high
quality of surface finish and accuracy of shape and dimension. Grinding is one of the widely accepted finishing operations because it removes material in very
small size of chips 0.25 to 0.50 mm. It provides accuracy of the order of 0.000025 mm. grinding of very hard material is also possible. 1.3.1 Objectives:
Provide excellent quality of surface finish to the surface, Impart high quality of accuracy of shape and dimension, Finishing of hardened metallic surfaces,
Sharpening of cutting edges of cutting tools, Maintaining tool geometry of cutting tools, Flattening and forming of surfaces, Finishing of castings by removing
impressions of sprues, risers, parting lines, etc., and Removal of scales and burrs, etc. 1.3.2 TYPES OF GRINDING: There can be different criteria to classify
grinding into different categories. On the basis of quality of grinding, it is classified as rough grinding and precision grinding.  Rough Grinding: It involves
removal of stock without any reference to the accuracy of results. Generally, rough grinding is followed by precision grinding.  Precision Grinding :

Dog Operant Conditioning
To begin training a dog with operant conditioning principles I would start out by using negative reinforcement. I would take the dog and put them outside as
soon as possible after catching them in the act. I would do this at least three times to get the dog to learn to go outside. On top of that if I saw the dog use the
bathroom while outside I would use positive reinforcement by giving the dog a treat or a good belly rub. If the dog kept using the bathroom inside after trying
reinforcement several times I would move on to punishment. Throughout my life the way my family housebreaks their dogs is they rub the dogs face in the
feces then put them outside immediately. The dog would not be allowed back inside for quite a while. By the fifth time

Ross explains that he understands that forensic psychology is a relatively new specialty area. However, he added that working juvenile cases, domestic
violence cases, and screening cases gave him a much broader and clear perspective of the field. In addition, he stated that working closely with law
enforcement specialists and psychologists allowed him to gain more perspective. Both lawyers and forensic psychologists assist law enforcement professionals
in investigating and solving crime (Baker De Long, 2009). Ross states that many legal issues that tangles with psychological nature spawns from questions of
human behaviors and mental states and processes of human beings. Ross explains that these past works enabled him to appreciate the area of forensic
psychology. He further states some of the tactics and skills that this discipline provides. Forensic psychology furnishes his skills to determine the competency
of a criminal defendant, the extent to which an eyewitness is reliable, psychological defenses a criminal defendant can rely on, and how much discretion
should judges have in sentencing. Ross explains the new approach that this field offers and how it may use scientific research and empirical knowledge to
handle these issues. (Counselor Ross was very general when answering). First Deputy Prosecutor is generally responsible for overlooking other deputy
prosecutors.

Bipolar And Bipolar Disorder ( Bipolar )
Bipolar robs you of that which is you. It can take from you the very core of your being and replace it with something that is completely opposite of who and
what you truly are (A. Reyan 2015). Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder that alters a person s life, they can never go back to who they were before. It is
estimated that more than 10 million Americans suffer from bipolar disorder (everydayhealth.com 2015). Bipolar disorder is broken down into two types;
bipolar I and bipolar II disorder. Bipolar I disorder must contain one manic episode in a person s life. Whereas Bipolar II disorder requires one hypomanic
episode to occur. The prevalence of Bipolar disorder is around 4% within the United States, with only 1.0% of that being Bipolar I disorder. Not a lot of
research has been done, to determine which race is more prevalent for this disorder (NIMH.org 2015). People of lower socioeconomic status have been linked
to have higher rates of Bipolar I disorder. Bipolar I disorder is more common among women than men, with a ratio of ~3:2 (CDC.org 2015). Bipolar I disorder
typically develops in a person s late teen or early adulthood with an average onset age of 25 years old. Bipolar I disorder is defined as manic depressive illness,
is a brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out day to day tasks (NIMH.org 2015). Symptoms need to

Philosophy of love and sex-Nozik Dworkin
A Nozick and Dworkin comparison
Philosophy of Love and Sex
Introduction
This paper compares and contrasts the philosophical views of two thinkers: Robert Nozick and Andrea Dworkin on the subject of Romantic Love (Eros / Being
in Love). By romantic love, Nozick and Dworkin are referring to the possibility of two individuals sharing a single identity: in other words, what Nozick calls
love s bond and Dworkin calls communion. Where Nozick and Dworkin differ is over the value of the pursuit of this identity by lovers. How do Dworkin and
Nozick feel about the pursuits of romantic identification by a lover and should this pursuit be unrequited? In Love s Bond by Nozick and Communion by

expert at meeting the other s need: The second Good of Loves Bond as stated by Nozick is that one becomes an expert at meeting their beloved s needs; this
concept is a subset of the US and WE compound. When the lover becomes an expert at meeting the needs of the beloved, he/she gives the lover the capacity to
care about the beloved and vice versa, which in turn lengthens one s life. This ability to generate compassion and care allows for the strengthening of the WE
complex. According to Nozick, this allows the lover to love the beloved as a whole; the lovers characteristics become about of the WE and US complex, thus,
increasing happiness, comfort and thereby, life expectancy. c giving up on searching for a new prospective beloved. The final or third good of Love s Bond is
giving up the search for a new beloved. Nozich says: A readiness to trade up, looking for someone with better characteristics, does not fit with an attitude of
love (p. 234). This conception is built around the fact that forming a WE bond takes up a great deal of effort both partners. Therefore, when one has finally

Same Sex Marriage Should Be Illegal
Must the Government Recognize Every Desire People Have as a Right?
Mohamed Salih
Howard University
Must the Government Recognize Every Desire People Have as a Right? Homosexual couples believe that their relationships are as equivalent as heterosexual
couples, so they should be recognized and granted marriage licenses. I see gay marriage as a plague that only brings unpleasant consequences to society. Same
sex marriage should be illegal because it alters the definition and the purpose of marriage, has negative effects on children, and is incompatible with sacred
texts. According to Genesis chapter 1, the definition of marriage is the intimate union and equal partnership of a man and a woman. God created man in His
image; in the Divine image he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them, saying: Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.
(Gen. 1:27 28) Same sex marriage activists want to define marriage simply as a private relationship between two loving, committed parties; they want the
same level of recognition that heterosexuals obtain. The main purpose of marriage is procreation, which is impossible to maintain with same sex couples. That
s why marriage shouldn t be extended to include homosexuals. Dana Mack wrote on the Wall Street Journal, Allowing gay marriage would only further shift
the purpose of marriage from producing and raising children to adult gratification. (Mack, 2010) People who support same sex

Death In Venice Themes
Death in Venice by Thomas Mann, was told from the point of view of Gustav von Aschenbach. The main theme of the novel was Aschenbach following
around a little Italian boy, Tadzio. Tadzio reminds Aschenbach of himself when he was a child. Aschenbach and Tadzio were ill as children which is why
Aschenbach becomes infatuated with Tadzio. Aschenbach was home schooled as a child because he was very ill and his parents decided that it was best for
him to remain isolated from the other children. He came from a wealthy family which allowed him to live this lifestyle. The difference between the two is that
although Tadzio is ill as a child he was still presented opportunities to play with other children and gain experiences. Part of the reason that Aschenbach as an
adult has writers block is because as a child and as a young adult he didn t have communication with the outside world. The remainder of this essay will be
focused on the fact that if Aschenbach lived a normal life like Tadzio then the consequences of Aschenbach s legacy wouldn t have been tarnished . As
Aschenbach s character developed throughout the book, his appearance also changed which was caused by the behavior of Tadzio. Tadzio possess something
that Aschenbach didn t have when he was a child, a childhood. In the novel Aschenbach sees an Oldman that has changed his appearance in order to fit in with
the younger crowd. For example, the Oldman dyed his hair. He is appalled by this but later on he actually changes his appearance to become closer to Tadzio.
Aschenbach is trying to reunite with his youth. The obsession with the young boy, which shows itself as lust, is really his desire to be young again. By
pursuing Tadzio dressed as a youthful figure, he thinks he can achieve this. Aschenbach s outward transformation is completed with help from the hotel barber.
Aschenbach dyes his hair black, applies cosmetics to his face, and arches his eyebrows. The result is a more youthful Aschenbach. If Aschenbach lived a
normal childhood he wouldn t have the desire as an adult to become a child once again and follow Tadzio. In reality, the change in his appearance made
Aschenbach look like a clown which is how other people perceived him when he dies watching

Listening Is A Key Part Of Encoding And Decoding The Message
What is active listening, it the process of information, which uses all of our senses to convey a message through perceiving of sound? Our, hearing, smell, taste

have to restate the information given by the speaker into your own words. Lastly, responding to the message with an answer, it could be for learning purposes,

The Rise Of Music In The Late 70 s And 80s
People in the late 70 s and 80 s have both happy and frustrating memories about the cassette tape. This era of adolescents spent hours creating mix tapes to
have their favorite songs on one tape instead of having constantly switch out tapes for different songs. This made the sharing of music more personal,
important, and meaningful because one would want the perfect tape. However, once the compact disc commonly known as the CD released in the early 1980 s
(Downes 1) people were not aware of how it will affect this culture of mix tapes and love for music. As the 80 s ended, also did the era of the cassette. The end
of this era started in 1983, where the sales of the compact disc reached 800,000 worldwide sales, and officially ended in 1990, where sales reached one billion

Establishment Republicans Are Not Sniggering
Establishment Republicans are not sniggering at Donald Trump s antics anymore, especially as he threatens to go solo in November if party insiders scheme to
deny him the nomination. Echoes of similarly irate conservative Teddy Roosevelt and his Bull Moose party sinking the Republican (GOP) national campaign
in 1912 get louder every time Trump wins a primary state. After the real estate mogul announced his candidacy in June last year, party leaders contentedly sat
back in the peanut gallery ridiculing his naked attempts at demagoguery. Later, they dismissed Trump s surging poll numbers as an electoral blip sparked by
fringe sections of the party base that loathed the GOP s handling of Congress. Moreover, they believed Trump s novelty act as the outsider would soon wear
out and make GOP voters collectively come to their senses and coalesce behind either Marco Rubio or Jeb Bush, the party s blue eyed boys. This cocksure
feeling has now given way to one of dread as Trump keeps notching victories in the primary season. A new Rasmussen poll puts Trump 15 points clear of
closest rival Ted Cruz. More worryingly, 24% of Trump s base will very likely vote for him if he runs as an independent, effectively torching GOP hopes of
preventing a Democratic three peat in the White House. Republican rivals have tried ganging up on Trump in debates, running attack ads to discredit him but
nothing really stuck so the establishment is changing tack. Influential leaders of the conservative

Disadvantages Of Space Heaters
People often turn to portable space heaters for help warming rooms when their primary home heating system isn t quite up to the task. Others prefer space
heaters for the savings they provide by allowing you to heat only the rooms you use. There are many different types of portable heaters, all of which use
slightly different methods to warm the space. Which one will work best for you depends on the characteristics of the space you will be heating. You should
also take into account how loud the heater is when running and consider safety issues, especially if you have children or pets.
The overwhelming majority of space heaters available today are electric. This is because most states have banned unvented combustible space heaters due to
carbon monoxide and other gasses. Vented kerosene and gas heaters are available, but are not portable, as they require the installation of a vent from the heater
to the outside of the home.
Radiant Heaters
Infrared
Radiant heaters work by warming objects directly adjacent to them. They provide heat quickly but do so in a straight line. Like the sun s rays, infrared heat
warms only objects in its direct path and cannot work around obstacles. As a result, infrared heaters work best in open areas free of obstructions. These heaters
use very little energy but do emit a soft orange glow, which some feel makes them bothersome in bedrooms. They are also hot to the touch and require caution
when used around pets and children. Infrared heaters do run silently, however. If you are sitting in one spot for a length of time, an infrared heater aimed in
your direction will be a good choice.
Many infrared heaters are now built into wooden cabinets. This makes the heaters more attractive and cooler to the touch.
Radiators
Radiant heat is also created by portable oil filled radiators. These radiant heaters consist of a series of tubes filled with oil. This oil is warmed and then the heat
radiates off of the unit to the surrounding area. The oil in these heaters is warmed but never burned as fuel, so there is no need to refill them or perform other
maintenance tasks. Like infrared heaters, oil filled radiators are very energy efficient and silent but hot to the touch. Unlike an infrared

Child Policy to a Two Child Policy in 2016, after about 35 years of loss of rights, family control, and murders. This improvement is one of many that China
has taken into their hands to improve. The world should look at China s improvement, rather than its past, and acknowledge that China is trying to make China
a better place than its previous China, no matter how hard that may

Leon (2007) stated that investment in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems can be classified into tangible and intangible benefits. The tangible ones
include costs reduction of inventory and inventory carrying, manpower and material, improved sales and customer service, and efficient financial management.
The intangible ones include several perspectives on reducing duplicated data entry in accounting related systems, greater control over product and process
design based on product structure database, establishment of realistic schedules accessible to and commonly shared by everyone to improve production and
materials management, generating accurate manufacturing and delivery report to provide a strong cornerstone to customer service, and complementary and
enhanced advantages on management information system function.

Bunch Vs Kant
In the history of philosophers there has been a major span of views and with that a large amount of agreements and disagreements. From the 18th century until
now for example four philosophers in specific have had similar and contrasting ideas about ethics. Four philosophers that make a great example of this are
Immanuel Kant, David Hume, Friedrich Nietzsche and Charlotte Bunch.
First off, Kant is an ethical theorist that would be considered a deontologist, which is someone who believes that an action s morality depends on the motive
behind it. The other side of the philosophic view are consequentialist, who believe that the consequences of an action are the more defining of the action s
morality than the intent or motive behind it. Kant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kant believes that the someone Reason we shouldn t do bad is because it s irrational. To Kant being rational is the very thing that makes us human. Rational
thought is the one thing that separates us from animals and is our biggest tool of being and existence. That being said, being irrational would be going against
the very thing that makes humanity human. That act irrationally in Kant s eyes would be to act immorally and to act immorally is bad in itself. So as humans
our duty to ourselves and the rest of humanity is to act in a rational, moral fashion. We can achieve that by acting in a way that involves what Kant considers
universal law, which would be act in way that if everyone else in the world acted in the same fashion the world would be content and a livable place. One
example of this is the cutting in line example, that if everyone cut in line then there would be no lines and everywhere you go you would end up just fighting
your way to the front and this type of society is unfeasible to will yourself to live there.
Similarly, David Hume Believe we cannot be 100% positive about cause and effect relationships. These relationships that our mind makes is an inherent trait
of humans but Hume believes we can never truly know if something is the exact effect to a caused event. Just because two events occur one after the other our
minds try to connect the two, but this process is ultimately just assuming that one caused the other. In addition, because of this we can never definitively say
one thing cause the other to

Generic Strategy For Classifying A Text Document
.1 Generic Strategy for Classifying a Text Document The main steps involved are i) document pre processing, ii) feature extraction / selection iii) model
selection iv) Training and testing the classifier. Information pre preparing lessens the measure of the information content records essentially. It includes
exercises like sentence limit determination [2], characteristic dialect particular stop word disposal [1] [2] [3] and stemming [2] [4]. Stop words are practical
words which happen as often as possible in the dialect of the content (for instance, „a‟, ‟the‟, ‟an‟, ‟of‟ and so forth in English dialect), so they are not helpful
for order. Stemming is the activity of decreasing words to their root or base structure. For English dialect, the Porter‟s stemmer is a prominent calculation [4]
[12], which is an addition stripping arrangement of orderly strides for stemming an English word, decreasing the vocabulary of the preparation content by
around 33% of its unique size [4]. For instance, utilizing the Porter‟s stemmer, the English word speculations would in this manner be stemmed as
speculations → speculation → sum up → general → gener . In situations where the source records are site pages, extra pre handling is required to
evacuate/alter HTML and other script labels [13]. Highlight extraction/choice distinguishes essential words in a content report. This is done utilizing strategies
like TF IDF (term recurrence opposite report recurrence) [14], LSI (dormant

Meaning of Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven Essay
Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven employs a raven itself as a symbol of the torture, mainly the self inflicted torture, of the narrator over his lost love, Lenore.
The raven, it can be argued, is possibly a figment of the imagination of the narrator, obviously distraught over the death of Lenore. The narrator claims in the
first stanza that he is weak and weary (731). He is almost napping as he hears the rapping at the door, which could quite possibly make the sound something he
heard in a near dream like state, not an actual sound.
He is terrified of being alone in the chamber he is in when the poem takes place. The sad, uncertain rustling of each purple curtain thrilled me filled me with
fantastic terrors never felt before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The raven also symbolizes the torture the narrator has inflicted upon himself due to the death of Lenore, a rare and radiant maiden?nameless here forever more
(731). The raven s refusal to answer any question asked of him with an answer other than nevermore only tortures the narrator even more.
The narrator is as much saddened by the arrival of the raven, as he is disturbed. He says, on the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before
(732). He is still recovering from the sadness of the loss of Lenore and in this raven he may find comfort for a while, but the raven will only be gone in the
morning, just like everything else.
The narrator can anticipate the answers of the raven, knowing that the only word it speaks is nevermore , and tortures himself even more by asking certain
questions to which the answer nevermore would devastate him. He asks if there is balm in Gilead. He even goes so far as to ask the raven if Lenore is in
Paradise within the distant Aidenn, it shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore (733). The answer nevermore sends the narrator into a rage.
He calls the raven a prophet , but cannot place if it is a prophet of evil or of good.
The narrator mentions that the raven lands on a bust of Pallas Pallas Athena who, according to Roman and Greek myth, was the goddess of wisdom. The
narrator can consider that a Freudian slip of sorts; that the raven speaks the truth because it

2. STUDY AND REVIEW OF LITERATURE 2.1 INTRODUCTION This chapter gives the brief introduction about the study and literature review of report.
Here we will discuss the details of literature review with summary of this literature survey. 2.2 RELATED WORK 1. Ghislain Levesque et al. [1] have
proposed a estimating software size with unified models. Automate the measure from a UML perspective and the other to add an objective measure of
complexity to a standard measure in COSMIC FFP in order to reach a higher level of confidence with those measures. So far, it can be concluded that, from
UML use cases and Actor Object sequence diagrams of a system application, the number of messages exchanged correspond to the number of function points
according to the COSMIC FFP method. The main advantage of this approach to benefit from the UML standard modeling notation and the training done with
software engineers to model the software with the UML notation 2. Vipin Saxena et al. [2] have proposed the performance of function point analysis though
UML modeling. In software development, estimation of software size is one of the major activities. Various types of metrics are available for computation of
software size. It is necessary to check the performance of each metric. Lines of code, objects and function point analysis are widely used for measurements of
software size, cost and schedule of development. The Function Point (FP) Analysis is one of the most promising techniques for

Chipotle is a part of a large industry of restaurants. Of these restaurants, Chipotle best fits in the fast casual Mexican segment. In this market, Chipotles main
competitors are Taco Bell, Del Taco, Qdoba Mexican Grill, and Moe s Southwest Grill. Several of their competitors compete by offering menu items that are
explicitly branded as lower in carbohydrates, fat, and calories. Some may claim that their products are improved for customers, or they would target their
market at particularly dietary preferences. Quite a few may put emphasis on lesser cost or even value meal options +(http://ir.chipotle.com/mobile.view?

Biological Diversity
Effects of Loss of Biological Diversity
As the loss of biological diversity or biodiversity continues to increase at unprecedented rates, it leaves a long lasting effect on the environment of the planet
Earth. Such effects are so threatening that they can claim human lives in the near future.
Humans are clearing forests (deforestation) to occupy more land to urbanise more areas. Thus, as humans continue to exploit the habitat of animals and plants
for their own selfish needs, they harm the entire environment of the earth. The deforestation has resulted in a variety of animals, which dwell in that area, to
leave the habitat. This is quite alarming as it could result in the loss of those species diversity in the future.
The precious natural resources of the green earth are excessively exploited by humans. This includes overharvesting animals to the extent that these species
become extinct. It also includes overconsumption of natural resources such as timber and fossil fuel which take years to regenerate. This is a direct threat to
biodiversity.
Humans pollute the environment in every way they can. They pollute the air with harmful pollutants such as carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide,
chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) and nitrogen oxides produced by industry and motor vehicles. These greenhouse gases are, in turn, destroying the ozone layer. The
ozone layer reflects the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. As this layer is being affected now, humans are becoming more prone to

Compare And Contrast My Childhood
Compare and contrast
When did playing outside and chasing ice cream trucks turn into playing on iPads and disconnecting from family a part of childhood? As a kid, my afternoons
were spent outside with my older brother. We used to make up games to play and steal some money out of my dad s car as we anticipated the arrival of the ice
cream truck. I ve had a simple childhood, with minimum technology, and no well developed games at all. All I ve had was a sandy pit and a worn out goal net.
To me though, it wasn t just a worn out goal net, it was many different places and where a lot of my childhood adventures took place.
My sister did not get the opportunity to bond with any of our brothers. By the time she was born, technology was already very well developed and was already
a big part of my family s everyday life. The first personal mobile phone I ve had was when I was 14, and it was a used phone as well, that was passed down to
me from my mother. Kids nowadays already have their own phone by 5 years old. Mostly all the kids in my family ages ranging from 4 8 all have either their
own mobile or their own Ipad. That not only leads to a wasted childhood on all the techno games but also on no bond between the kids. As a kid, I ve
anticipated going to any family gathering because of all the fun games we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Minecraft. Whilst I spent day and night on an old net goal that I used as a pirate ship and a roller coaster, my sister makes her own roller coasters all

Zwolinski Sweatshops Analysis
A simple database search will supply a smorgasbord of articles, papers, and personal writings about the abuse and inhumanity of sweatshop factories.
However, there is always two sides to every coin and Zwolinski s article approaches the topic from the much less popular position of defending international
factories and cheap labor. He formulates a well written academic journal entry presenting a stout argument for sweatshops while also presenting possible
counterarguments. Zwolinski s strongest premise is the central idea of choice and voluntary action. In fact, he opens his paper saying: For the most part,
individuals who work in sweatshops choose to do so. They might not like working in sweatshops, and they might strongly desire that their

Chromosome 15 Deletion
Chromosomes are identified to be found within the nucleus as long thin strands of DNA compiled together, and arranged from largest to smallest based off
their sizes [2]. In addition to this, a typical chromosome usually contains a short and long arm. However, in a Chromosome 15 deletion, the focus is within the
long arm of the strand where the genetic material becomes lost. A variety of detrimental effects can arise depending on which portion of the long arm is deleted
as well. One type of deletion called the proximal deletion that arises when the proximal portion which is directly connected to the centromere, loses genetic
material.
Usually when deletions include the centromere, the chromosome becomes handicapped and can no longer segregate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

  • 2. Great Halifax Explosion Case Study On December 6 1917, hundreds were left dead in Halifax, Nova Scotia due to a human error quick to be immortalized. CBC news says the Imo, a Belgian relief vessel that left the Halifax Harbor behind schedule on the morning of December 6. Another vessel the Mont Blank, a cargo ship leaded with explosive materials, was entering. The Captain of the Imo disregarded the laws of the sea, going over the speed limit for the narrows of the harbor and traversing it from the wrong direction. Both the Imo and Mont Blank moved toward each other, each unwilling to change course. The ships made evasive maneuvers at the same time, causing the vessels to scrape against each other; the sparks from the collision set aflame the explosive materials aboard the Mont ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The very existence of disaster photography proves this. Voyeur as defined by the Oxford Dictionary is a person who enjoys seeing the pain or distress of others. Why would humans continuously photograph others suffering if they did not gain some pleasure from it? Photographers might say that the motives of disaster photography are to document and expose horrors around the world. The intention of the photographer about how the photo should be received and how it is actually received can be quite different. An example of how humanity s voyeuristic tendencies effects how viewers react to a photo is given by Susan Sontag in her book Regarding the Pain of Others. When photographs of suffering are staged, people are surprised to learn they were staged, and always disappointed instead of celebrating the fact that the suffering was not real (55). This disappointment is felt because of the need to observe genuine suffering. The photos of the Halifax disaster used to make postcards are real and it is because of humanity s voyeuristic tendencies that there is a market for these snapshots of ... The Industrial Revolution that Changed the Face of the World The Industrial Revolution that changed the face of the world: Imagine life without education and the only source of income for a family to survive is through subsistence farming. Consider life without electricity and the only source of transportation was on foot or horseback riding, if you were fortune enough to afford a horse. During this time communication was also limited and extremely difficult. Life began to change as the Industrial Revolution impacted lives from Great Britain to the United States by introducing new technologies such as the telephone, coal mining and the steamboat. Many children were deprived of getting an education in order to assist with the rapid growth of the new industrial world that changed the face of the new world. No one can deny that telephones are the number one source of communication between nations making the productions of goods flow easy. The telegraph was the only way nations were able to communicate which consist of dashes and ticks to send messages (Bellis). The telephone was invented in 1876 by Alexander Graham Bell. Church History Paper I The Foundation of Orthodoxy and the Cannon A Paper Presented to Dr. Keith Goad of Liberty University Lynchburg, VA In Partial Fulfillment Of the Requirements for Church History CHHI 301 By Brittany N. Askew February 6, 2012 Brittany Askew 06 February 2012 CHHI301_B04 Paper 1 Introduction The process by which Scripture has been preserved and compiled is one whose history is worth noting. The early church had many opportunities to share the Good News of Christ via word of mouth, but from the time of Christ s resurrection until the mid second century, there had not been a single culmination of writings considered to be essential for the purposes of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marcion believed that the Jewish Scriptures only concerned the covenant between God and the Jews of Israel, and therefore was no longer valid for the Christian church. In his mind, these were two very separate Gods. When noticing that several of Paul s writings made mention of the God of Israel, Marcion claimed that those writings were not Paul s original texts, and should be considered counterfeit. Marcion s views of Paul s forged portions of his letters can be attributed to what many theologians today might call the Slippery Slope Argument. In this case, Marcion chose not to trust in the inerrancy of what God had spoken to Paul. Paul s writing s were flawed, or someone must have tampered with them. This lack of trust in inerrancy would ultimately allow Marcion to fall down a slippery slope , giving way to forsake other important Christian foundational truths. As his ideologies became more widespread, it became obvious that Marcion s views on creation were radically reinterpreted (or misinterpreted, better yet), as well as his opinions on the doctrines of incarnation and the resurrection. Ultimately, the church at large came to the conclusion that his doctrines contradicted several fundamental points in Christian doctrine. It forced the church to make a case for the value and status of the Jewish scriptures it had adopted as its own, and it prompted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Guns Are Necessary For Hunting, Protection, And Military... Thomas Parsons Mrs. Anderson Composition English 101 12/5/16 Guns Are Needed in America The Constitution of the United States gives the reason why Americans can own guns; A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed (Amendment II). The Second Amendment of the Constitution was ratified on December 15, 1791 because the Founding Fathers of the United States of America understood that guns were necessary for hunting, protection, and military involvement. The Founding Fathers understood that life apart from guns would be virtually impossible. Today, guns are necessary for the same reasons that they were necessary 225 years ago, but some things must be done to make guns more safe; in fact, many of the problems that guns are related to, can be solved. Many Americans believe that guns are no longer necessary and that they create more harm than good. These people believe that guns should be banned. The banning of guns in America would not stop crime or even reduce it; instead, that proposal would have a negative effect on crime rates, as well as a negative effect on many other things in America. Guns have always existed in America; guns actually existed before the United States of America was established. According to 2014 statistics, around three hundred million guns are in America, and 31% of American households own one or more guns (Alpers et al). Banning guns would not only have ... Theme Of Coming Of Age In Mississippi Coming of age in Mississippi is an autobiography written by an activist Anne Moody, also known as Essie Mae, about growing up in the poor southern part of Mississippi as an African American in the middle 20th century. It consist of four part; childhood, high school, college and The Movement. The absurdity of racial distinctions, the evil of disunity among blacks in the face of white oppression and the destructive power of prejudice are the three theme of this autobiography. There was always a discrimination between the blacks and the whites. The whites would publically insult black and announce that they were genetically inferior to white. • 7. Importance of Recycling at the University Essay Importance of Recycling at the University I remember my first semester here at the University and the dark halls of the Bates House Residence Hall. Many a party was concluded with an idea for what to do with the endless piles of cans that had congregated on the floor. One idea, I remember, was to wall someone into his room and another was to see how many we could stand on end without toppling. But, we usually just ended up throwing them in the trashcans in our refuse room. Sometimes out of the five trashcans in the room set aside for trash disposal, three or four would be completely filled with hundreds of cans of various beverages. Upon further contemplation, I can also remember the small, blue bucket that was thrown ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The truth is, however, that with the amount of money the University spends on other endeavors, it cannot afford not to update its recycling campaign. The only way to do that is to help make recycling appeal to more of the vast student population that currently attends our University. How might this be done? The University already places a recycling bin in every dorm room around the campus; anything more would exceed the current funding for the recycling project. Perhaps the institution of a recycling center at the Russell House could cause the impulse to become a habit. But, that would take too much money with the salaries of workers and the annexing of what would amount to a new wing of the building to consider for too long. Another solution could be to have the students elect a recycling committee to evaluate the problem and decide on the appropriate solution. However, I feel that with the current lull in our recycling campaign, even that would be ineffective. As an altrenative to these two solutions I propose that we, as students and faculty united, institute a plan that is so simple it is already in place in many of the high schools around the state. I propose a system of rewards. How many of us have walked past the Russell House only to hear the cry, Free T shirt for your application? The interested people walk to the table where a fraternity brother greets them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The letter or epistle, what unique style shows that the author is original or a pseudo author writing in the same style as the original author. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reviewing Epistolary Literature, as it relates to the New Testament consists of twenty one writings that display the formal features of a letter to varying degrees, along with letters embedded within other books. Since this literature was written primarily during the first century C.E., it mirrors the formal features of Hellenistic epistolary writing. Letter writing in Hellenism followed a stereotypical form: The Epistles were generally written in the form of: 1) Opening or Prescript. This consists of three parts; the author s name, the addressee s name, and a greeting. 2) Body. The purpose of the letter is elaborated. 3) Closing. Usually consists of a final greeting. The letters expressed a relationship of friendship between two parties and was to have a certain presence about it, substituting for the actual presence of the writer. Thus, a person would write to someone as if he or she were present . To see this format, the reader can review Philemon. The reader can see these points outlined. In Philemon: Opening or Prescript v.1a Paul prisoner of Christ Jesus Timothy our brother. To Philemon, Apphia, Archippus, house church. I would take the dog and put them outside as soon as possible after catching them in the act. I would do this at least three times to get the dog to learn to go outside. On top of that if I saw the dog use the bathroom while outside I would use positive reinforcement by giving the dog a treat or a good belly rub. If the dog kept using the bathroom inside after trying reinforcement several times I would move on to punishment. Ross explains that he understands that forensic psychology is a relatively new specialty area. However, he added that working juvenile cases, domestic violence cases, and screening cases gave him a much broader and clear perspective of the field. In addition, he stated that working closely with law enforcement specialists and psychologists allowed him to gain more perspective. Both lawyers and forensic psychologists assist law enforcement professionals in investigating and solving crime (Baker De Long, 2009). Ross states that many legal issues that tangles with psychological nature spawns from questions of human behaviors and mental states and processes of human beings. Ross explains that these past works enabled him to appreciate the area of forensic psychology. He further states some of the tactics and skills that this discipline provides. Forensic psychology furnishes his skills to determine the competency of a criminal defendant, the extent to which an eyewitness is reliable, psychological defenses a criminal defendant can rely on, and how much discretion should judges have in sentencing. • 12. Bipolar And Bipolar Disorder ( Bipolar ) Bipolar robs you of that which is you. It can take from you the very core of your being and replace it with something that is completely opposite of who and what you truly are (A. Reyan 2015). Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder that alters a person s life, they can never go back to who they were before. It is estimated that more than 10 million Americans suffer from bipolar disorder (everydayhealth.com 2015). Bipolar disorder is broken down into two types; bipolar I and bipolar II disorder. Bipolar I disorder must contain one manic episode in a person s life. Whereas Bipolar II disorder requires one hypomanic episode to occur. The prevalence of Bipolar disorder is around 4% within the United States, with only 1.0% of that being Bipolar I disorder. Not a lot of research has been done, to determine which race is more prevalent for this disorder (NIMH.org 2015). People of lower socioeconomic status have been linked to have higher rates of Bipolar I disorder. Bipolar I disorder is more common among women than men, with a ratio of ~3:2 (CDC.org 2015). Bipolar I disorder typically develops in a person s late teen or early adulthood with an average onset age of 25 years old. Bipolar I disorder is defined as manic depressive illness, is a brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out day to day tasks (NIMH.org 2015). Philosophy of love and sex-Nozik Dworkin A Nozick and Dworkin comparison Philosophy of Love and Sex Introduction This paper compares and contrasts the philosophical views of two thinkers: Robert Nozick and Andrea Dworkin on the subject of Romantic Love (Eros / Being in Love). By romantic love, Nozick and Dworkin are referring to the possibility of two individuals sharing a single identity: in other words, what Nozick calls love s bond and Dworkin calls communion. Where Nozick and Dworkin differ is over the value of the pursuit of this identity by lovers. When the lover becomes an expert at meeting the needs of the beloved, he/she gives the lover the capacity to care about the beloved and vice versa, which in turn lengthens one s life. Mohamed Salih Howard University Must the Government Recognize Every Desire People Have as a Right? Homosexual couples believe that their relationships are as equivalent as heterosexual couples, so they should be recognized and granted marriage licenses. I see gay marriage as a plague that only brings unpleasant consequences to society. Same sex marriage should be illegal because it alters the definition and the purpose of marriage, has negative effects on children, and is incompatible with sacred texts. According to Genesis chapter 1, the definition of marriage is the intimate union and equal partnership of a man and a woman. God created man in His image; in the Divine image he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them, saying: Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. (Gen. 1:27 28) Same sex marriage activists want to define marriage simply as a private relationship between two loving, committed parties; they want the same level of recognition that heterosexuals obtain. The main purpose of marriage is procreation, which is impossible to maintain with same sex couples. That s why marriage shouldn t be extended to include homosexuals. Dana Mack wrote on the Wall Street Journal, Allowing gay marriage would only further shift the purpose of marriage from producing and raising children to adult gratification. • 16. Death In Venice Themes Death in Venice by Thomas Mann, was told from the point of view of Gustav von Aschenbach. The main theme of the novel was Aschenbach following around a little Italian boy, Tadzio. Tadzio reminds Aschenbach of himself when he was a child. Aschenbach and Tadzio were ill as children which is why Aschenbach becomes infatuated with Tadzio. Aschenbach was home schooled as a child because he was very ill and his parents decided that it was best for him to remain isolated from the other children. He came from a wealthy family which allowed him to live this lifestyle. The difference between the two is that although Tadzio is ill as a child he was still presented opportunities to play with other children and gain experiences. Part of the reason that Aschenbach as an adult has writers block is because as a child and as a young adult he didn t have communication with the outside world. The remainder of this essay will be focused on the fact that if Aschenbach lived a normal life like Tadzio then the consequences of Aschenbach s legacy wouldn t have been tarnished . As Aschenbach s character developed throughout the book, his appearance also changed which was caused by the behavior of Tadzio. Tadzio possess something that Aschenbach didn t have when he was a child, a childhood. In the novel Aschenbach sees an Oldman that has changed his appearance in order to fit in with the younger crowd. For example, the Oldman dyed his hair. He is appalled by this but later on he actually changes his appearance to become closer to Tadzio. Aschenbach is trying to reunite with his youth. The obsession with the young boy, which shows itself as lust, is really his desire to be young again. By pursuing Tadzio dressed as a youthful figure, he thinks he can achieve this. Aschenbach s outward transformation is completed with help from the hotel barber. Aschenbach dyes his hair black, applies cosmetics to his face, and arches his eyebrows. The result is a more youthful Aschenbach. If Aschenbach lived a normal childhood he wouldn t have the desire as an adult to become a child once again and follow Tadzio. After the real estate mogul announced his candidacy in June last year, party leaders contentedly sat back in the peanut gallery ridiculing his naked attempts at demagoguery. Others prefer space heaters for the savings they provide by allowing you to heat only the rooms you use. There are many different types of portable heaters, all of which use slightly different methods to warm the space. Which one will work best for you depends on the characteristics of the space you will be heating. You should also take into account how loud the heater is when running and consider safety issues, especially if you have children or pets. The overwhelming majority of space heaters available today are electric. This is because most states have banned unvented combustible space heaters due to carbon monoxide and other gasses. Vented kerosene and gas heaters are available, but are not portable, as they require the installation of a vent from the heater to the outside of the home. Radiant Heaters Infrared Radiant heaters work by warming objects directly adjacent to them. They provide heat quickly but do so in a straight line. Like the sun s rays, infrared heat warms only objects in its direct path and cannot work around obstacles. As a result, infrared heaters work best in open areas free of obstructions. These heaters use very little energy but do emit a soft orange glow, which some feel makes them bothersome in bedrooms. They are also hot to the touch and require caution when used around pets and children. Infrared heaters do run silently, however. If you are sitting in one spot for a length of time, an infrared heater aimed in your direction will be a good choice. Many infrared heaters are now built into wooden cabinets. This makes the heaters more attractive and cooler to the touch. Radiators Radiant heat is also created by portable oil filled radiators. These radiant heaters consist of a series of tubes filled with oil. This oil is warmed and then the heat radiates off of the unit to the surrounding area. The oil in these heaters is warmed but never burned as fuel, so there is no need to refill them or perform other maintenance tasks. Like infrared heaters, oil filled radiators are very energy efficient and silent but hot to the touch. Unlike an infrared ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the 18th century until now for example four philosophers in specific have had similar and contrasting ideas about ethics. Four philosophers that make a great example of this are Immanuel Kant, David Hume, Friedrich Nietzsche and Charlotte Bunch. First off, Kant is an ethical theorist that would be considered a deontologist, which is someone who believes that an action s morality depends on the motive behind it. The other side of the philosophic view are consequentialist, who believe that the consequences of an action are the more defining of the action s morality than the intent or motive behind it. Rational thought is the one thing that separates us from animals and is our biggest tool of being and existence. That being said, being irrational would be going against the very thing that makes humanity human. That act irrationally in Kant s eyes would be to act immorally and to act immorally is bad in itself. So as humans our duty to ourselves and the rest of humanity is to act in a rational, moral fashion. We can achieve that by acting in a way that involves what Kant considers universal law, which would be act in way that if everyone else in the world acted in the same fashion the world would be content and a livable place. One example of this is the cutting in line example, that if everyone cut in line then there would be no lines and everywhere you go you would end up just fighting your way to the front and this type of society is unfeasible to will yourself to live there. The raven, it can be argued, is possibly a figment of the imagination of the narrator, obviously distraught over the death of Lenore. The narrator claims in the first stanza that he is weak and weary (731). He is almost napping as he hears the rapping at the door, which could quite possibly make the sound something he heard in a near dream like state, not an actual sound. The narrator is as much saddened by the arrival of the raven, as he is disturbed. He says, on the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before (732). He is still recovering from the sadness of the loss of Lenore and in this raven he may find comfort for a while, but the raven will only be gone in the morning, just like everything else. Biological Diversity Effects of Loss of Biological Diversity As the loss of biological diversity or biodiversity continues to increase at unprecedented rates, it leaves a long lasting effect on the environment of the planet Earth. Such effects are so threatening that they can claim human lives in the near future. Humans are clearing forests (deforestation) to occupy more land to urbanise more areas. Thus, as humans continue to exploit the habitat of animals and plants for their own selfish needs, they harm the entire environment of the earth. The deforestation has resulted in a variety of animals, which dwell in that area, to leave the habitat. This is quite alarming as it could result in the loss of those species diversity in the future.
