Negative Effects Of Technology And Social Media
Technology and social media in today s world are evolving tremendously. When stepping outside
into the streets, a rare count of faces appear to be looking up. Instead those faces are being shoved
into their phones. These two objects are becoming so intriguing, that many lose sight of the
beautiful city or town they are currently roaming through. Today people rely solely on technology
instead of interacting face to face. It is destroying the interaction between people communicating in
person. Communicating and connecting in person is a vital source all over the world, without it
people will become lost, the use of technology and social mediashould be limited. Many believe
social media is the answer to almost all problems happening in their lives. Feeling sad? Easiest
way to fix that is to watch funny videos on YouTube or play Pandora music. Bored? Candy crush
or Imessage games on the iPhone is the got to. Interested in seeing what friends or family
members are up to? Just check Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, or Twitter. Many believe that
each application that is available for download are great and essential for having a phone. When
it comes to texting or calling, according to the essay No Need to Call , Sherry Turkle makes it
well known that people today would rather text than call and talk over the phone or in person.
Not only do people say that a phone call asks too much, they worry it will be received as
demanding too much (Turkle 375). They believe that talking over the phone is a big burden to
others, so they rather email or send a text message so that others can reply on their own time. The
use of technology and social media, helps to find valuable information easy. There is no waiting
on a letter, telegram, or tuning into the radio at a certain time of the day. It is as simple as logging
onto a computer or telephone, and accessing the internet browser to complete a Google, Yahoo, or
Bing search. The answer for majority of the questions will show up immediately. In the essay
Small Change; Why the Revolution Will Not Be Tweeted it discusses an entrepreneur who needed
a bone marrow transplant. With almost all hope lost from not being able to find a match, a

proper, kind to everyone, no matter what Hermione Granger, while I was the always ripping my
clothes, messy, very sassy Junie B. Jones. Never did I know, how much of an impact a sister will
have on your life. One night, I remember helping her pack for college. I wasn t doing this for
her, but for me. She had everything perfectly organized, laid out. I was down there to help but
mainly go through and take everything I wanted. She bellowed at me with a thunderous strong
voice. Both her and I argued back and forth, trying to generate a very exasperated person. Soon we
stopped after we both concluded that neither was going to give up.

Genie Wild Child
The Secret of Wild Child is an Emmy award winning documentary which talks about a feral child
Genie and how the affects of social isolation had severely damaged her both physically and
mentally.
Genie was 13 when she was discovered by social workers. She was kept chained to a potty chair in
her bedroom. She was abused by her parents so much that she couldn t even learn to speak. She
was made to sit alone every day and night. She had no one to talk to and the girl when found by
social workers gave an impression of an infant. She was still in diapers when she was found.
Genie had a very awkward bunny walk and non human features. She used to sniff and claw
everything. She used to make noises as she couldn t speak and she was abused by her parents ...

Genie was hence removed from Rigler s care and she was sent to her birth mother who found it too
difficult to handle her and hence Genie was moved from one foster home to the other. This period
was the beginning of an end for Genie as she was abused regularly.
In 1975 came a shocker when Genie s birth mother sued the Riglers and the research team charging
them with excessive testing and exploiting the girl.
After the lawsuit, Genie was sent back to the Children s Hospital. Her condition had worsened due
to lack of care at foster homes. Unfortunately, the progressed that was observed at the early stages
of her treatment was nowhere to be seen now due to subsequent treatment she received at the foster
homes. Afraid of being abused again for opening her mouth, Genie had turned back to being silent.
In Genie s case, sometimes her interest came second to interests of the scientists. In her case, to
make matters worse, one man played the role of psychologist and scientist.
Hence we can conclude that even though Genie showed signs of doing the impossible by turning
her life of social isolation around, she was unable to achieve this feat in the end all because of
involvement of the legal authorities and the lawsuits and the greed that the team had developed to
become famous and make a name for

Teenage Aggression In Teenagers
Aggression in teenagers
Aggression: Behaviour directed towards the goal of harming or injuring another living being who is
motivated to avoid such treatment. (Baron, 1977)
Aggression, a feeling of anger resulting in hostile or violent behaviour. In psychology, aggression
is a behaviour expressed in order to harm or cause pain to an individual. It can either be verbal or
physical. Aggression can be: hostile, instrumental, passive or active.
Hostile aggression is an impulsive behaviour with the goal being to cause harm to the victim.
Instrumental aggression is a cold, premeditated behaviour.
Passive aggression is a behaviour displaying aggression in an unassertive passive way such as
sarcasm or stubbornness.
Active aggression is a deliberate behaviour aimed to cause physical harm to the victim.

Repeated play of violent video games causes children learn thought patterns that will stick with
them and influence their behaviours as they grow up. Children start to think more aggressively
and when provoked in a situation, they can react to it much like they do when playing a video
game. Douglas Gentile said. With violent games you practice being vigilant for enemies, practice
thinking that it s acceptable to respond aggressively to provocation, and practice becoming
desensitized to the consequences of violence. Repeated practice of aggressive ways of thinking can
drive the long term effect of violent games on aggression. (Iowa State University)
Violent video games model physical aggression. They also reward players for being alert to hostile
intentions and for using aggressive behavior to solve conflicts. Practicing such aggressive thinking
in these games improves the ability of the players to think aggressively. In turn, this habitual
aggressive thinking increases their aggressiveness in real life. (Anderson,

To What Extent Do Professor s Ariely s Ideas Help Us...
Business Assignment
Part A.
To what extent do Professor s Ariely s ideas help us evaluate the effectiveness of Jamie Oliver s
management approach?
Professor s Ariely s speech on the effects of management does, to a certain extent help us evaluate
the effectiveness of Jamie Oliver s hands on management approach. As a manager, Jamie Oliver
would take a personal interest in his students; providing them with training, support (paying for
their transport if necessary) and visiting their homes. This allowed Jamie to develop trust and
respect with his students and in return, the students established a trust with him. If a manager is
attentive and acknowledges their efforts, employees are more likely to uphold their motivation.
One example that was presented by Professor Ariely demonstrated this idea that if people s
endeavours are recognised, then they will work for longer. The experiment whereby people
matched pairs of letters in three different conditions showed results that backed up this hypothesis.
In the first condition, they wrote their name, completed the worksheet and showed it to the
experimenter, who then scanned it and put it in the pile. The second condition, people did not write
their name, completed the worksheet, gave it to the experimenter and without looking at it, placed
it in the pile. The final condition, the experimenter simply put the completed worksheet in the
shredder. In the first condition where the work was acknowledged people worked for

World War 2 Paper
Castro, Nazzi 1CA5 I. Introduction
For a start, there s disagreement on when the war started and two common dates for when it
finished. In terms of Europe, Russia generally holds that the Great Patriotic War began on June
22nd 1941 with Operation Barbarossa (the German invasion of Russia) while Western Europe uses
September 1st 1939, the German invasion of Poland. Both use the date of Germany s unconditional
surrender as the end in Europe, but the Western Allies accepted the surrender on May 8th and the
Russian May 9th 1945.
The immediate trigger for war was the Nazi invasion of Poland, a conquest too far for the allied

suicide in 1945. After a rapid political ascent as the leader of the far right Nazi Party in the 1920s,
Hitler achieved absolute power and maintained it throughout his time as chancellor. During his rule,
he took a very active role in the government of Germany, making military decisions and
implementing edicts regarding the treatment of Jews and other minorities, such as the notorious
final solution that condemned Jews to death at concentration camps in German controlled parts of
Europe. Just before Germany surrendered in 1945, Hitler committed suicide together with his wife,
Eva Braun, in his bunker in Berlin.
Benito Mussolini Fascist prime minister who came to power in 1922 and ruled Italy as an

he chose to ally himself during World War II. In 1943, Mussolini was overthrown in a coup
orchestrated by some of his subordinates, and in 1945 he was executed by Italian partisans just
prior to the end of the war in Europe.

How Does Madeleine L Engle Use Symbols In A Wrinkle In Time
A Wrinkle in Time lives on to be a timeless classic suspense novel for young adults today. Although
school curriculums berate it for L Engle s afflictions with Christian theology; which are especially
prominent in this novel, her emotional family values, and ethical responsibilities stand out for a
bigger impact on the reader. Madeleine L Englewrites with a style that makes the reader ponder her
use behind objects, characters, and dialogue. Her subjective symbolism puts a more meaningful
reason to her story, and can discovered throughout the entire plot. Examples of symbolism surface
through physical objects such as Mrs. Who s spectacles, to emotional feelings of love and hate, and
even to general themes brought about of light triumphing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The spectacles symbolize a way of understanding and perceiving the world without instinctual
judgment. There is another part physical objects show symbolism behind them. Charles Wallace
is taken over by the control of IT, but Meg can still read the decency behind his evil behavior.
Although his actions are not at all like his normality, his blue eyes, which retained normality,
symbolize goodness and hope and let her know he is still there. L Engle uses emotional feelings
throughout the characters, not only to portray compassion for the them, but also to symbolize
deeper meaning. Meg s love to save her family has more meaning to it than her willingness. Her
love differs immensely with the emotion of IT s hate. Every time she feels hate towards IT or
others such as her father, she becomes weaker. It is her hatred that allows IT to take over her
mind. She finds out the ability to love against the forces of hate, allows her to succeed and
defeat IT. When the family reunites in the end, it is a reminder of the strong forces love has on
us that L Engle believes can strengthen and congregate society. Meg also is disturbed by the
way people are controlled on the planet of Comazotz. She notices the normality of everyone,
...there was also a sameness to them. Like the sameness of people riding in a subway, (L Engle

Outline Of Proposed Proposal For A Proposal
Introduction The introduction of the proposal should be one complete page long and will most
likely be divided into two paragraphs. Notice that the section headings (Table of Contents, Abstract,
Introduction, etc.) are still formatted in Times New Roman, 12 point font. Titles, cover pages, and
section headings do not need to be in oversized font, but these may be bolded or underlined to
create a separation between the heading and the text. Also, notice that the section heading appears
on the first line and the text begins on the second line (extra space and/or skipped lines should not
be present). The introductionwill give more details about the problem that the proposal solution
will address. While the problem was identified in the letter of transmittal and the abstract of the
proposal, this section will allow for more details to be identified about the exact problem. The
reader should have a complete understanding of exactly what led the author to write this proposal.
This will be the only place that the problem will be discussed in detail and may include data or
statistics related to the problem. Ideally, this portion of the proposal should not include any figures,
tables, or illustrations. Instead, those can be utilized in the body of the proposal to explain the
solution plan and benefits. The second paragraph of the introduction can discuss the purpose of the
proposal (the solution and request). This should briefly introduce or outline what the proposal
suggests as

An Interdisciplinary Advisory Council Is House Bill ( Hb )...
Nurses have the ability to have their voice received which can aid with change in health care by a
number of ways, one of which is to become active within the community and advocate for nursing
and advanced care for the public. One way this can be done is to influence legislators by becoming
active in supporting health care bills.
Legislation Description Palliative care and quality of life interdisciplinary advisor council is
House Bill (HB) 1071. The bill is about establishing a Palliative Care and Quality of Life
Interdisciplinary Advisory Council. The purpose of this bill is to implement an interdisciplinary
advisory council to improve the quality and delivery of care with a patient and family centered
focus for palliative and quality of life care. The advisory council is made up of members that are
appointed by the executive commissioner and will serve a four year term. The advisory council
must consist of at least five physicians two of which must be certified in hospice and palliative care,
at least two advanced practice registered nurses of which must also be certified in hospice and
palliative care, and seven health care professionals. Those health care professionals include nurses,
social workers, pharmacists, and spiritual care professionals (Texas Legislature, 2015). By

Civil War Visual Analysis
The painting was very thought provoking and sprouted many ideas in my head, however, their was
one idea that stood out more than the others. I listed the thoughts below in the bullet points. The
color scheme of this painting was very chaotic. The outside areas were vibrants shades of yellow,
green, and some blue. The inner center section of the paintingwas dark red with a big blotch of
black covering it. Other students took the hidden shades of colors to stand for the bravery that
most citizens stereotype war with. However, in reality their is only blood stains that cover
everything and war is just an act of foolishness.
From my point of view, the outside colors stood for the different viewpoints that each individual
brings to the war. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So if you look at the painting in this perspective, you can hypothesize that the red and green
viewpoints have collided making the big black blotch in the center.
So it is concludes that when these varying viewpoints collided you create a massive surge of chaos
and bloodshed.
The other thing interesting about the painting was the setting of the picture. Unlike most paintings
this one was set inside a frame that resembled a barrier. This was very creative and gave the
viewer the sense that all these soldiers are trapped in this vortex of unending bloodshed.
Their was a part of the canvas that seemed to run out of the boundaries of the frame. It was
interesting how the blue line leading away from the scene closely resembled a river.
It felt as if many of the soldier may have tried to escape from this gruesome setting by flowing out
of the picture and maybe forgetting all the memories. However, the experience war gives is rarely
forgotten and this clearly noticeable in the picture because the river does not end up leaving the
frame but comes to a standstill or

What Impact does Transnational Crime have on Organizational Management?
The Globalization of transnational crimes will have a major impact on the organizational
management of law enforcement. There will be a need for new types of strategies, the way that
police departments operate and functions must be changed, if they want to be effective in
alleviating the globalization of transnational crimes. There are a variety of organizational
management changes that has proved to be effective that should be offered to police executives and
their departments in order to tackle the globalization of transnational crimes.
To begin it will be beneficial for law enforcement agencies to change how they fight crime and deal
with transnational criminals. They should adjust the way they approach crime. By doing this they
will be able to tackle the effectiveness of traditional police tactics and have the ability to
differentiate various types of crimes besides corporate street crimes. This strategy has the ability to
heighten the approach to organized crimes, white collar crimes, drug trafficking and other
specialized types of criminal activity. All the crimes in which transnational criminals indulge in

The Women In Beowulf
In the book Beowulf, the women played significant roles at this period of time. It was actually a
time when women were well respected. Some women were even referred to as a noble lady, like
Wealtheow. So, why were the roles of the women in the story of Beowulf important? What did
they do and how did they do it? Finally, did they offer an alternate prospective to the poetic story?
Yes, all the women in the story of Beowulf, like Wealtheow, Hygd, Hildeburh, and Grendal s
mother had roles that offered an alternate prospective of the story.
The most important role that the women had was their partnerships with their husbands. In the
marriage women were the much more productive ones in the relationship. During this time period
the Beowulf women were considered equal to men and were able to make huge decisions. For
instance, women were able to choose whether they wanted war or peace. Some women like
Hildeburh were sent as gifts to other kingdoms which symbolized there peace. So, one of the great

Hydrochloric acid is a very strong acid and it can digest any that contact with it. At high
temperature, hydrochloric acid can act as chemical enzyme which can hydrolyses polysaccharide.
Hydrochloric acid can break down solution B and starch which are polysaccharide to their
respective monosaccharide. Temperatures may have affect the substances such as solutions A and
B, saliva, and hydrochloric acid. Saliva is a type of biological enzyme needs an optimum
temperature of 37В°C to carry out high activity. High temperature causes amylase to become
denatured, and the shape of the active site changes, because the bonds in the enzymes are broken
because of the heat energy gained to brak the bond. When an enzyme is denatured, it cannot
function, hence , no catalyse biological reaction. When solution B is under high temperature,
solution B gains heat, which is converted to kinetic energy. Solution B thus have high kinetic
energy, and its easier to be catalyzed because the activation energy is achieved easily. Because it
has high kinetic energy, the solution can be catalyzed by the hydrochloric acid.
The product that formed after hydrolysed is broken to monosaccharide which are glucose
molecules. This is because glucose is a type of reducing sugar that can turns Benedict s solution
from blue to brick red precipitate. Starch and glucose are consider as carbohydrate . Figure below

The Lake Of The Woods And The Vietnam
Important Aspects in the Novel In the Lake of The Woods and The Vietnam in Me by Tim O Brien
As most of the people in American spent time thinking about clothing and feeding themselves and
their families, the rarely spend time thinking about philosophical issues. Tim O Brien says that he
jars people to look into important things, meaning that he makes people look into the deeper
meaning of the issues reflected in his novels instead of focusing on the basic issues alone. This
paper will analyze the important aspects that are reflected in the Novel In the Lake of the Woods
and the article The Vietnamin Me by Tim O Brien.
Important Aspects In the Lake of The Woods by Tim O Brien
One of the vital things in this novel is its setting. The major conflict in the story occurs at the
northern west angle of Minnesota. The major characters in the novel, John and Kathy chose this
location because of its isolation. This setting helps in shaping the story because that is where Kathy
disappears, and the rest of the novel shifts attention to her search. Another important element in the
setting of this story is the American political environment. When John enters the race for the Senate
seat, the conflict between him and Kathy emerge as it reduces the interaction of the two. In
addition, his involvement in politics unearths his involvement with Charlie Company which leads
to his dismal failure in politics. As the two continue to relax in the woods, many past events begin

Factors of Poverty in Namibia
This table portrays the different face on calculating poverty in Namibia but without doubt, it strikes
with more energy the rural homes. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, in 2008, poverty
was chiefly spread between homes were English nor German were spoken (around 55 percent of
those households) While English and German speaking homes were almost unaffected by poverty.
This in terms of sheer consumption means that the poorest sector of the Namibian society only
accounts for the 1 percent of general expenditure while the 5% of the Namibians that belong to the
high income group hold the 53 percent of it.
According to the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of Namibia, the 41% on Namibian
homes depend on wages as their principal source of wealth. These data shows the utmost
significance that salaries and wages have for the subsistence of Namibian homes. This is
underlined by the point that around 72 percent of Namibian homes do not possess a second source
of wealth or income. In rural areas, these figures are higher, reaching an 85 percent of homes
without secondary source of wealth, which is a terribly high number when compared to urban areas
(63 percent).
Namibia has undergone noteworthy processes to fight back poverty and improve its social and
economic aspects (World Bank), becoming part of the top ten globally in terms of percentage
spent in education on the GDP and second in the region in term of health expenditure. However,

Material management is one of the main components in the management of all types of companies.

PROBLEM FORMULATION
Abuhilal (2006) stated that the ultimate goal of inventory management is giving satisfaction to the
customers need at the lowest price. There are two types of customer, internal customer and external
customer. In company s operation, PJB only has internal customers of inventory management, there

criteria. Then, by applying those classification the inventory manager develop policy to keep

Phonics Vs. Phonics And Synthetic Phonics Essay
Phonics are essential to literacy and children s ability to learn to read and write. Phonics are a
system of associating letter symbols with speech sounds (Orton, n.d.). They have an important role
in the Australian Curriculum and Reporting Authority: phonics and word knowledge [ACARA].
There are two main concepts related to phonicsthey are analytical phonics and synthetic phonics.
Diana Rigg (2016) states that direct systematic instruction in phonics during the early years of
schooling is an essential foundation for teaching children to read (para. 3). Phonics are used by
children to learn to read and to write, they include letter identification, onset and rime, blends and
the relationships between blends and phonemic awareness (Hill, 2012, p.259) (Rigg, 2014). There
are many teaching approaches that may be implemented to teach phonics effectively. This essay
will discuss, critique and analyse phonics their importance and how different teaching approaches
may be implemented to teach phonics to students effectively. It will maintain that synthetic phonics
have been proven to be more successful in teaching children than analytical phonics, although it is
imperative to use both a synthetic and analytical approach to teaching children phonics.
There are many aspects involved in phonics, phonics can be either analytical or synthetic.
According to Anne Bayetto (2013) the National Reading Panel highly recommends phonics along
with phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary and

Similarities Between Andrew Carnegie And Henry Frick
If one aligns oneself with another person, and the person whom he or she has partnered up with is
a difficult or stubborn person, it will make a difference in what they are trying to pursue. The
people with whom one aligns oneself with makes all the difference. This is proven in the
relationships between Andrew Carnegieand Henry Frick, Cornelius Vanderbilt and Thomas Scott,
and Thomas Edison and J.P Morgan. Henry Frick threw Carnegie s reputation down the drain.
Henry is known for being a cruel, harsh, and demanding businessman. Andrew decided he was
going to leave Carnegie Steel to Frick while he was in Scotland. That was a terrible idea made
by Carnegie. Henry Frick went crazy with power and became very aggressive. Carnegie Steel
becomes portrayed as ruthless and mean. To add Frick decided to change working hours and make
them longer. Working in the conditions for a steel manufactory is very difficult and dangerous. The
workers weren t getting paid much to live off of either. Because of this the workers went on strike,
and Henry continuing to be the ruthless man he is ordered the Pinkertons to intimidate them. When

Photoreceptor Fatigue Lab Report
In this experiment, the effect of age on the speed of photoreceptor fatigue was tested. This was
tested by producing an afterimage in people of various ages to find when they became fatigued to
the color green. This result showed that people that were older often had their photoreceptors
fatigue faster and have their afterimage last longer. This may be connected to the fact that the
amount of cells atrophy with age. Further test may be needed to tell what causes the sudden
increase in fatigue at an older age.
Introduction
The eye is a very important organ because it allows us to not just see something, but to also see
them in colors. Vision is created when light passes through the cornea, and reflected by lens until it
hits the retina in the back of the eye. On the retina are two types of light absorbing cells. These two
types are rods and cones cells. Cone cells are used for color vision while rods are used to see in
black and white. The cone cells can pick up 3 basic colors; red, green, and blue. When they pick
up light, photosensitive chemicals in the outer part of a cell release a electrical charge, allowing the
brain to precieve the light as color. They use different groupings of these colors ... Show more

The brighter and longer you take in the stimuli the longer it takes for it to readjust. An example
of this is the psychologist Kenneth Craig. After staring at the sun for two minutes he caused
damage to the retina. The photoreceptor cells were damaged beyond repair and gave him the
view of a orange/black sun whether his eyes were open or closed. With age it become apparent that
many parts of the body become weaker, and the eyes are no exception. Around the age of 40 is
when the eyes begin to fail. Along with basic things like peripheral vision, your color vision fades.
The cells become less sensitive to the colors it receives. Colors become less vibrant and less

The Importance Of English As The Official Language
During the early 1500s America was pillaged by several European foreigners; for example, the
Spanish, French, and British. However, there were tens of thousands of people already occupying
America. When Europeans first invaded, over 300 languages were already being spoken and
taught by over 562 different tribes. All of these languages were extremely complex and distinct,
none of these languages being English. After colonization many of these languages became extinct,
even today they are becoming less and less used; thus, wiping away what is left of Native
American culture and language. Many American citizens argue that as a nation, English should be
recognized as the official language. Even though the majority of people in America speak or
understand English, legally placing this as the nation s language will have several negative
consequences. For people who side on making it the official language, they feel that communicating
with be easier and that allowing there to be no official language will erase American culture. Not
only are those statements not true, but they can also be deemed as xenophobic and racist.
Constitutionally setting English as the official language can not only promote xenophobia, it can
also erase minority culture; moreover, English was not the first or only language spoken in America
when it was first being colonized. Native Americans created their own life, culture, and language
without the influence of European culture. These people maintained

The Cave Allegory In Plato s The Republic
The Cave Allegory
Plato a famous Greek philosopher in his book The Republic has his teacher Socrates recount the
allegory of the cave.
A group of people have lived chained up in a deep cave since birth, never ever seeing daylight
and seeing only ahead. Behind them is a partial wall and a fire between the prisoners and the
partial wall. There are various statues manipulated by a hidden group (representing all the forces
that program and influence us) behind the partial wall that the prisoners cannot see.
The prisoners see the shadows cast by the statutes move and think they are real. Most people
mistake the products of their deletion, generalization, distortions and projections as real and
reflecting reality. They mistake their internal map of the world for the real world. ... Show more

They have never realized their mental models were controlling them.
One of the prisoners is freed from his bonds and forced to confront the reality of the fire and
statutes themselves. This is what happens when one day you wake up and something shocking
happens (you lose your job or someone close to you dies) and you are shaken out of your trance
state or default mode and forced to see the world as it is.
So the prisoner faces pain and confusion initially because his eyes are not used to the light. He
then realizes that he is seeing the reality for the first time as opposed to the shadows formed by the
fire and the statues, he previously saw.
He now accepts the fire and statues as most real. This stage in the cave represents belief. He is still
unaware that there that there are things of greater reality a world beyond his cave.
Like the prisoner, the first step to freedom is when you begin to wake up from your dream state
and your default modes.
Next, this prisoner is dragged out of the cave into world of sunlight where his eyes are blinded.
Initially he can only look at shadows, then at

Essay On Gun Violence In Schools
A lot of people believe that the best alternative would be to have a hired security guard or law
enforcement guarding the school at all times. This idea is better because it allows the teachers to
be at peace by not having to worry about if they would be ending a life. If I m going to have a gun
on the premises I d rather have a resource officer who has been trained, Martin said. If I m going to
defend myself in the community, I m not firing around potentially 1,000 kids. By hiring securitythe

The Agricultural Crisis by Wendell Berry Essay example
The Agricultural Crisis by Wendell Berry
In this novel by Wendell Berry, Berry s describes in his thesis that modern culture is destroying
the agricultural culture. He feels that technology is seen as the easy way to produce food faster
and more efficiently. With this modern way of farming comes the idea that hard work is not
needed to make a living. The goal is comfort and leisure. Berry feels that this is the reason for the
deterioration of the agricultural culture. He believes that hard work and pride in workmanship is
more important than material goods and money. This was by no means a perfect society. The
people had often been violent wand wasteful in the use of land of each other. Its present ills have
already taken root in it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They generally are not interested in anything that cannot be reached by automobile on a good
road. Some of the farmer s children will be able to afford to stay on the farm. Perhaps even fewer
will wish to do so, for it will cost too much, require too much work and worry, and it is hardly a
fashionable ambition.
Another argument that Berry proposes is the connection between the modernization of agricultural
techniques and the disintegration of the culture, as well as the communities of farming and the
consequent disintegration of structures of urban life. What we called agriculture progress has
involved the forcible displacement of millions of people. An example of modernization can be
seen through the idea of Get big or get out. It s a policy that says that you have to become more
modern through change and be competitive in order to keep up with the other competitors. If not,
than you must get of what you are doing. This can be used through a comparison of communist
using military force in order to remove those who refuse to follow their demand for change, and the
government using their economic power to force farmers to improve their farming techniques. In a
Free Market the most successful becomes the richest. To those who could not

Chapter Summary Of Beastly By Alex Flinn
Chapter 7 In this chapter I learned what literary canon was. I learned that it is a master of works
that are usually studied in college. Writers use elements from kiddie stories to shape their
stories. Most of the time this is too complex to put in a text. Foster also talked about how writers
we know tend to take the basic fairytales and kiddie stories and add depth to them. We all know
for example The Wizard of Oz was turned into Wicked. He also talked about how when reading
these type of stories, we want the strangeness and suspicion but at the same time, we also want to
be familiar with the characters and know who they are. We want to be able to relate to the story in
some kind of way. Our responses to a story are conditioned our encounters before with the original

got cursed and then turned into a hideous beast and the only way to break the spell is to have a
girl fall inlove with his beastly form and kiss him as proof of her love and the curse will be

Benedictus Play
In Mass in D, there are no introductions at the beginning of movements, except in the case of
Benedictus (DvoЕ™ГЎk added two measures of introduction in the orchestra version). Since
amateur choirs often have a limited background in reading music, teaching intervals during
rehearsal is another important key to success. The author found it important to teach amateur
singers how to obtain the first note in every movement. In the first movement, Kyrie, the last chord
ends in D major. Sopranos hold the tonic, altos hold the third, tenors hold the fifth, and basses hold
the tonic. As tenors are taking the lead on the second movement, Gloria, the first note of their part

However, the high notes in the tenor part on measures 113 114, singing an octave from G3 to
G4, could be challenging for amateur singers as this is a high pitch that requires a soft dynamic.
The author suggests that the conductor use a falsetto voice or simply assign only the Tenor I to
sing. For soprano, the highest note is G5 in this movement. The most challenging section would be
measure 83, singing the repeating G5 and then moving down by a half step to F sharp5. This could
create intonation problems for amateur singers. In this section, the basses are holding the D4 for
three beats, which could be a challenge for amateur singers as well. The author would suggest the
conductor not to sing this part too heavily although it is marked as forte in the score.
Movement II Gloria
In Gloria, the highest and lowest notes for each voice are as follows:
The sopranos and tenors on measure 17 are holding A5 (A4 for tenors) for three and a half beats
with the dynamic of fortissimo. It could be a challenge for the amateur singers. Therefore, care
must be taken. The conductor could ask the singers not to sing too heavily so as to avoid vocal
fault, but to think of support. One of the most effective tools in teaching amateur singers to sing on
a high pitch correctly is to think opposite when singing the high note, and also to bend their knees
when singing the high note during the rehearsal.
Movement III Credo
In the Credo, the highest and lowest notes for each voice are as

Deaf Education Research Paper
The story of education of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children in America dates back to 1817,
when the first school for the Deaf was established in Connecticut. It was called the American
Asylum for the Education of the Deaf and Dumb, known today as the American School for the
Deaf, and it taught its pupils academic material as well as occupational training. In the period of
time that followed, known as the Golden Age for American Deaf people, sign language was widely
used, and all subjects, including written English, were taught through sign and often by Deaf
teachers. Unfortunately, this period of time was short lived, and by the end of the 1800s, spoken
language was seen by the mainstream educationcommunity as superior and it was implemented
into the curriculum after an infamous conference known as the International Congress of Milan
of 1880. At this meeting, it was confirmed that spoken language would dominate Deaf education,
and the use of sign language would be outlawed; this decision would change the learning
experience of Deaf children forever. The conference was unfairly filled with Pure Oralists, with
only one Deaf voter out of 164 participants, deciding the fate of children for years to come. After
hearing educators decided what was best for deaf people, the education system shifted completely

Scout, in the book To Kill a Mockingbird, was raised by Atticus in a small county in Alabama.
Her father taught her to treat everyone equally no matter who they are or who they are said to

someone to be avoided because he was thought to be different and was considered to be a

impression she has at the beginning of the story, and it s the reason Scout is scared of him.
Atticus, on the other hand, thought it ridiculous that Scout was so frightened of a man just
because of the rumors she had heard about him. By the end of the book, and because of her
upbringing, Scout is able to make up her own mind about Boo and care for him in her own way

Ethical Issues In The Eugenics Movement
Beginning in the late 19th century, eugenics was a social and health reform movement aimed at
refining the genetic quality of the human population. Although the apparent goal of the movement
was improving the human race, a desire to preserve white middle and upper class power also
existed. This is evident in the policies implemented, as the unfit were confined to institutions and
stringent marriage laws were established. Even more aggressive measures were applied in the
Progressive Era. As immigration increased and the birthrate of Anglo Americans declined in the
20th century, compulsory sterilizationof the unfit was constructed to combat the threatened merit of
society. Fueled by the fear of change, society s ambiguous sentiments toward the unfit or
feebleminded allowed prominent eugenicist to abuse their power and loosely interpret policy to fit
their social constructs. Although many ethical issues can be connected to the eugenicsmovement,
the protection of freedom and individuality are the most significant principles at stake. This is best

Spike Jonze
Spike Jonze is a well known American actor, screenwriter, producer and director. His work
includes commercials, music videos, television, and film. One of his films, however, stands out
to the world. Her was directed, produced and written by Jonze in 2013, and made his solo
screenwriting debut. The film established groundbreaking production design. Her uncovers a
bright and vibrant future populated by human friendly technologies. In a journal by Hugh Hart, he
interviews the production designer K.K. Barrett. Hart asks, Why no gloom or doom? Barrett

1 , but the theme of the film is about humanity, not technology. In a journal written by Kyle
VanHemert, he also interviews production designer, K.K. Barrett. Barrett says, We decided that the
movie wasn t about technology, or if it was, that the technology should be invisible (VanHemert 2).
It shows that someone is almost never truly alone, yet cannot escape loneliness. This concept
reflects on what society seems like today. We have the world at our fingertips with technology and
social media. A virtual connection to another human being is only a couple clicks away, with our
smartphones and other devices on hand. The total number of social networking applications
astonishes the mind, whether it s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, FaceTime, and many
others. Technology enables our connection with other people, yet it s never really enough. Some of
us still feel empty and lonely, an unsettling feeling of disconnect. Technology is enjoyable and we
are contented, but there is still loneliness. Theodore became extremely lonely through a divorce
with his wife Catherine. He spends a significant amount of time thinking about her, and there are
several flashbacks throughout the film showing Theodore s blissful relationship with her. He is
dwelling in the present, but he is somehow stuck in the past. In the beginning of the film, he can t
sleep and he engages in a futuristic physicality of phone sex, but without the actual intimacy.

distributed thus pressure on the skin should be more evenly dispersed to help decrease moisture
and may help her pressure ulcer heal. (Ruth Nix, 2012, p. 162). The Low Air Mattress should also
help wick moisture away as Mrs. White experiences hot flashes throughout the day and is also fecal
incontinent resulting in both conditions increasing the moisture on Mrs. White s skin. (Bryant Nix,
2012, p. 162).
Mrs. White s heals are reddened with skin intact at the moment but the possibility of an ulcer
developing on either heel or both heels needs to be addressed. Mrs. White has spastic movement
in her extremities and is transferred in and out of bed putting her heels at risk for a shear injury.
Implementing an offloading product such as heel protectors that will help distribute the weight of

help her heel pressure as well. (Bryant Nix, 2012, p.

Case Analysis Of Colgate Luminous White
Sld9: In 2015 we measured different brands from 2016, so we cannot make a comparison because
the inclusion of new brands for AE makes the distribution of this to affect the percentages of the
remaining brands, making them not comparable.
Sld11: Luminous White and Oral B have similar levels of consideration; given that both brands are
communicating the benefit of Whitening, Luminous must be very striking in its communication. On
the other hand, although Fluocardent is new in the category, it is not new in the Oral Care segment
(New competitor)
Sld12: Listerine is the only brand that surpasses the average of this category; Colgate must work on
improving its proximity if wanting to compete with Listerine.

Colgate Plax has a low brand desire; the communication that it is handling generates no relevance or
closeness to the consumer.
Colgate Luminous White has a trend among Millennials, but its awareness is not so out as to be an
independent brand of Colgate.
Colgate Luminous White apparently is not seen as an independent brand of Colgate, but as an
additional variety of brand, plus it is seen as an expensive brand and with no difference for the
category.
Sld41:
Colgate Plax and Luminous White have to work on communicating the concept of benefit or
communicating in a more successful way for this to generate more relevance
Colgate Plax has to work into consideration, relevance and closeness, but this has to be achieved by
better communicating the benefit; it has to better manage the benefit regarding germs and bacteria.
Luminous White must better manage its Attitudinal Equity structure; if it focuses its
communication towards Millennials, doing this would be easier (Focus Target to Millennials), in
addition, this variant should work more on brand awareness and then focus on a concept for the

  • 4. Negative Effects Of Technology And Social Media Technology and social media in today s world are evolving tremendously. When stepping outside into the streets, a rare count of faces appear to be looking up. Instead those faces are being shoved into their phones. These two objects are becoming so intriguing, that many lose sight of the beautiful city or town they are currently roaming through. Today people rely solely on technology instead of interacting face to face. It is destroying the interaction between people communicating in person. Communicating and connecting in person is a vital source all over the world, without it people will become lost, the use of technology and social mediashould be limited. Many believe social media is the answer to almost all problems happening in their lives. Feeling sad? Easiest way to fix that is to watch funny videos on YouTube or play Pandora music. Bored? Candy crush or Imessage games on the iPhone is the got to. Interested in seeing what friends or family members are up to? Just check Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, or Twitter. Many believe that each application that is available for download are great and essential for having a phone. When it comes to texting or calling, according to the essay No Need to Call , Sherry Turkle makes it well known that people today would rather text than call and talk over the phone or in person. Not only do people say that a phone call asks too much, they worry it will be received as demanding too much (Turkle 375). They believe that talking over the phone is a big burden to others, so they rather email or send a text message so that others can reply on their own time. The use of technology and social media, helps to find valuable information easy. There is no waiting on a letter, telegram, or tuning into the radio at a certain time of the day. It is as simple as logging onto a computer or telephone, and accessing the internet browser to complete a Google, Yahoo, or Bing search. Genie Wild Child The Secret of Wild Child is an Emmy award winning documentary which talks about a feral child Genie and how the affects of social isolation had severely damaged her both physically and mentally. Genie was 13 when she was discovered by social workers. She was kept chained to a potty chair in her bedroom. She was abused by her parents so much that she couldn t even learn to speak. She was made to sit alone every day and night. She had no one to talk to and the girl when found by social workers gave an impression of an infant. She was still in diapers when she was found. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Genie was hence removed from Rigler s care and she was sent to her birth mother who found it too difficult to handle her and hence Genie was moved from one foster home to the other. This period was the beginning of an end for Genie as she was abused regularly. In 1975 came a shocker when Genie s birth mother sued the Riglers and the research team charging them with excessive testing and exploiting the girl. After the lawsuit, Genie was sent back to the Children s Hospital. Her condition had worsened due to lack of care at foster homes. Unfortunately, the progressed that was observed at the early stages of her treatment was nowhere to be seen now due to subsequent treatment she received at the foster homes. Afraid of being abused again for opening her mouth, Genie had turned back to being silent. In Genie s case, sometimes her interest came second to interests of the scientists. In her case, to make matters worse, one man played the role of psychologist and scientist. Hence we can conclude that even though Genie showed signs of doing the impossible by turning her life of social isolation around, she was unable to achieve this feat in the end all because of involvement of the legal authorities and the lawsuits and the greed that the team had developed to become famous and make a name for ... Repeated play of violent video games causes children learn thought patterns that will stick with them and influence their behaviours as they grow up. Children start to think more aggressively and when provoked in a situation, they can react to it much like they do when playing a video game. Douglas Gentile said. With violent games you practice being vigilant for enemies, practice thinking that it s acceptable to respond aggressively to provocation, and practice becoming desensitized to the consequences of violence. Repeated practice of aggressive ways of thinking can drive the long term effect of violent games on aggression. (Iowa State University) Violent video games model physical aggression. They also reward players for being alert to hostile intentions and for using aggressive behavior to solve conflicts. Practicing such aggressive thinking in these games improves the ability of the players to think aggressively. In turn, this habitual aggressive thinking increases their aggressiveness in real life. • 8. To What Extent Do Professor s Ariely s Ideas Help Us... Business Assignment Part A. To what extent do Professor s Ariely s ideas help us evaluate the effectiveness of Jamie Oliver s management approach? Professor s Ariely s speech on the effects of management does, to a certain extent help us evaluate the effectiveness of Jamie Oliver s hands on management approach. As a manager, Jamie Oliver would take a personal interest in his students; providing them with training, support (paying for their transport if necessary) and visiting their homes. This allowed Jamie to develop trust and respect with his students and in return, the students established a trust with him. If a manager is attentive and acknowledges their efforts, employees are more likely to uphold their motivation. One example that was presented by Professor Ariely demonstrated this idea that if people s endeavours are recognised, then they will work for longer. The experiment whereby people matched pairs of letters in three different conditions showed results that backed up this hypothesis. In the first condition, they wrote their name, completed the worksheet and showed it to the experimenter, who then scanned it and put it in the pile. The second condition, people did not write their name, completed the worksheet, gave it to the experimenter and without looking at it, placed it in the pile. The final condition, the experimenter simply put the completed worksheet in the shredder. In the first condition where the work was acknowledged people worked for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although school curriculums berate it for L Engle s afflictions with Christian theology; which are especially prominent in this novel, her emotional family values, and ethical responsibilities stand out for a bigger impact on the reader. Madeleine L Englewrites with a style that makes the reader ponder her use behind objects, characters, and dialogue. L Engle uses emotional feelings throughout the characters, not only to portray compassion for the them, but also to symbolize deeper meaning. Meg s love to save her family has more meaning to it than her willingness. Her love differs immensely with the emotion of IT s hate. Temperatures may have affect the substances such as solutions A and B, saliva, and hydrochloric acid. Saliva is a type of biological enzyme needs an optimum temperature of 37В°C to carry out high activity. High temperature causes amylase to become denatured, and the shape of the active site changes, because the bonds in the enzymes are broken because of the heat energy gained to brak the bond. When an enzyme is denatured, it cannot function, hence , no catalyse biological reaction. When solution B is under high temperature, solution B gains heat, which is converted to kinetic energy. Introduction The eye is a very important organ because it allows us to not just see something, but to also see them in colors. Vision is created when light passes through the cornea, and reflected by lens until it hits the retina in the back of the eye. On the retina are two types of light absorbing cells. These two types are rods and cones cells. Cone cells are used for color vision while rods are used to see in black and white. The cone cells can pick up 3 basic colors; red, green, and blue. A group of people have lived chained up in a deep cave since birth, never ever seeing daylight and seeing only ahead. Behind them is a partial wall and a fire between the prisoners and the partial wall. There are various statues manipulated by a hidden group (representing all the forces that program and influence us) behind the partial wall that the prisoners cannot see. The prisoners see the shadows cast by the statutes move and think they are real. Most people mistake the products of their deletion, generalization, distortions and projections as real and reflecting reality. They mistake their internal map of the world for the real world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have never realized their mental models were controlling them. One of the prisoners is freed from his bonds and forced to confront the reality of the fire and statutes themselves. This is what happens when one day you wake up and something shocking happens (you lose your job or someone close to you dies) and you are shaken out of your trance state or default mode and forced to see the world as it is. So the prisoner faces pain and confusion initially because his eyes are not used to the light. He then realizes that he is seeing the reality for the first time as opposed to the shadows formed by the fire and the statues, he previously saw. He now accepts the fire and statues as most real. This stage in the cave represents belief. He is still unaware that there that there are things of greater reality a world beyond his cave. Like the prisoner, the first step to freedom is when you begin to wake up from your dream state and your default modes. If I m going to defend myself in the community, I m not firing around potentially 1,000 kids. By hiring securitythe school would be protected from any intruders. • 30. The Agricultural Crisis by Wendell Berry Essay example The Agricultural Crisis by Wendell Berry In this novel by Wendell Berry, Berry s describes in his thesis that modern culture is destroying the agricultural culture. He feels that technology is seen as the easy way to produce food faster and more efficiently. With this modern way of farming comes the idea that hard work is not needed to make a living. The goal is comfort and leisure. Berry feels that this is the reason for the deterioration of the agricultural culture. He believes that hard work and pride in workmanship is more important than material goods and money. This was by no means a perfect society. The people had often been violent wand wasteful in the use of land of each other. Its present ills have already taken root in it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps even fewer will wish to do so, for it will cost too much, require too much work and worry, and it is hardly a fashionable ambition. Another argument that Berry proposes is the connection between the modernization of agricultural techniques and the disintegration of the culture, as well as the communities of farming and the consequent disintegration of structures of urban life. What we called agriculture progress has involved the forcible displacement of millions of people. An example of modernization can be seen through the idea of Get big or get out. It s a policy that says that you have to become more modern through change and be competitive in order to keep up with the other competitors. If not, than you must get of what you are doing. • 32. Chapter Summary Of Beastly By Alex Flinn Chapter 7 In this chapter I learned what literary canon was. I learned that it is a master of works that are usually studied in college. Writers use elements from kiddie stories to shape their stories. Most of the time this is too complex to put in a text. Foster also talked about how writers we know tend to take the basic fairytales and kiddie stories and add depth to them. We all know for example The Wizard of Oz was turned into Wicked. He also talked about how when reading these type of stories, we want the strangeness and suspicion but at the same time, we also want to be familiar with the characters and know who they are. We want to be able to relate to the story in some kind of way. Our responses to a story are conditioned our encounters before with the original ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since amateur choirs often have a limited background in reading music, teaching intervals during rehearsal is another important key to success. The author found it important to teach amateur singers how to obtain the first note in every movement. In the first movement, Kyrie, the last chord ends in D major. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the high notes in the tenor part on measures 113 114, singing an octave from G3 to G4, could be challenging for amateur singers as this is a high pitch that requires a soft dynamic. The author suggests that the conductor use a falsetto voice or simply assign only the Tenor I to sing. For soprano, the highest note is G5 in this movement. The most challenging section would be measure 83, singing the repeating G5 and then moving down by a half step to F sharp5. This could create intonation problems for amateur singers. In this section, the basses are holding the D4 for three beats, which could be a challenge for amateur singers as well. The author would suggest the conductor not to sing this part too heavily although it is marked as forte in the score. Movement II Gloria In Gloria, the highest and lowest notes for each voice are as follows: The sopranos and tenors on measure 17 are holding A5 (A4 for tenors) for three and a half beats with the dynamic of fortissimo. It could be a challenge for the amateur singers. Therefore, care must be taken. The conductor could ask the singers not to sing too heavily so as to avoid vocal fault, but to think of support. One of the most effective tools in teaching amateur singers to sing on a high pitch correctly is to think opposite when singing the high note, and also to bend their knees when singing the high note during the rehearsal. It was called the American Asylum for the Education of the Deaf and Dumb, known today as the American School for the Deaf, and it taught its pupils academic material as well as occupational training. In the period of time that followed, known as the Golden Age for American Deaf people, sign language was widely used, and all subjects, including written English, were taught through sign and often by Deaf teachers. Unfortunately, this period of time was short lived, and by the end of the 1800s, spoken language was seen by the mainstream educationcommunity as superior and it was implemented into the curriculum after an infamous conference known as the International Congress of Milan of 1880. At this meeting, it was confirmed that spoken language would dominate Deaf education, and the use of sign language would be outlawed; this decision would change the learning experience of Deaf children forever. The conference was unfairly filled with Pure Oralists, with only one Deaf voter out of 164 participants, deciding the fate of children for years to come. The way the town looked at Boo gave Scout that impression she has at the beginning of the story, and it s the reason Scout is scared of him. • 40. Ethical Issues In The Eugenics Movement Beginning in the late 19th century, eugenics was a social and health reform movement aimed at refining the genetic quality of the human population. Although the apparent goal of the movement was improving the human race, a desire to preserve white middle and upper class power also existed. This is evident in the policies implemented, as the unfit were confined to institutions and stringent marriage laws were established. Even more aggressive measures were applied in the Progressive Era. As immigration increased and the birthrate of Anglo Americans declined in the 20th century, compulsory sterilizationof the unfit was constructed to combat the threatened merit of society. Fueled by the fear of change, society s ambiguous sentiments toward the unfit or feebleminded allowed prominent eugenicist to abuse their power and loosely interpret policy to fit their social constructs.
