Saturated And Unsaturated Fat Is Best For The Human Body
The Truth About Fats
By: Aubrey Jegier
Period: 3
10/30/15
In researching this topic I hope to find out more information about saturated and unsaturated fats and
the impacts they have on the body. There are a few questions that I am looking to answer. What are
saturated and unsaturated fats? What are the differences and similarities between saturated and
unsaturated fats? What is hydrogenation? What does hydrogenation have to do with saturated and
unsaturated fats? What are trans fats? Why are trans fats considered bad for the human body. What
type of fat is best for the human body? By answering these questions I hope to find out exactly what
saturated and unsaturated fats are and the chemistry behind them as well as their effect ... Show more

A saturated fat does not have and double bonds while an unsaturated fat has at least one double bond.
This means that saturated fats are solid at room temperature because the single bonds form a straight
molecule that is easily packed together. On the other hand the double bonds in unsaturated fats creates
kinks in the molecule making them liquids at room temperature. Another difference is that saturated
fats have a long shelf life while unsaturated fats spoil quickly. Unsaturated fats are considered to be
healthier for the body omega 3s and omega 6s, which are support a body s metabolism. It is
recommended to have 30% of your diet to be unsaturated fats while only 10% should be saturated fats.
Studies have shown that too many saturated fats can lead to bad cholesterol while unsaturated fats
promote good cholesterol. Numerous studies have found links between saturated fats and diseases or
cancers. Overall unsaturated fats are a much healthier option for the body while saturated fats are still
needed but in moderation otherwise they can have negative

Switzerland Immigration Politics Essay examples
In order to have a complete understanding of the politics of immigration in Switzerland, it is crucial to
realize the impact direct democracy has in shaping public policy and public opinion. Hanspeter Kriesi
and Alexander Trechsel, two prominent Swiss political scientists, consider direct democracy not only
to be the most crucial institution of the Swiss political system but also the most developed system of
its kind in the world, both in terms of significance and in terms of sheer numbers. Swiss voters took
part in 321 referendums between 1960 and 2003, over seven per year on average, by far the most
numerous of the 47 nations in the Council of Europe. The importance of direct democracy in ensuring
the continued salience of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the Constitution was revised in 1874, the optional referendum was introduced allowing the
holding of a referendum on any change to federal legislation... which can be requested by 50,000
voters or eight cantons within a period of 100 days after the publication of the law. Of the 2181
parliamentary decisions eligible for an optional referendum from 1848 to 2005, only 156 were subject
to them. Of these 156, only 46% were successful in rejecting legislation that had been passed by
Parliament.
The already expansive institution of direct democracy was further extended in 1891 with the
introduction of the popular initiative for the partial revision of the Constitution that must also be
accepted by a double majority of people and cantons. In order to present a popular initiative to the
electorate, organizers must gather 100,000 signatures within eighteen months. Interestingly, popular
initiatives can consist of complete proposals for constitutional modifications or merely a proposal that
simply states a general goal of changing the Constitution leaving it up to Parliament to implement said
goals as it sees fit. Popular initiatives are incredibly diverse, ranging from demands for new footpaths
in the Alps to the abolition of the armed forces. When faced with a popular initiative, the Federal
Parliament may...formulate a counterproposal to the initiative...in which case the

The Respiratory System Essay
The respiratory system is the process responsible for the transportation and exchange of gases into and
out of the human body. As we breath in, oxygen in the air containing oxygen is drawn into the lungs
through a series of air pipes known as the airway and into the lungs. As air is drawn into the lungs and
waste gas excreted, it passes through the airway, first through the mouth or nose and through the
pharynx, larynx and windpipe also known as the trachea. At this point it then enters the lungs through
the bronchi before finally reaching the air sacs known as alveoli. Within the lungs, through a process
known as diffusion, the oxygen is transferred to the blood stream through the alveoli (air ducts) where
it is then transported inside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the alveoli, the oxygen is transferred to the blood whilst simultaneously collecting waste
carbon dioxide for excretion as we breath out. This transference is known as diffusion and is linked to
the cardiovascular system.
Diffusion is an automated process by where the levels of oxygen, water and carbon dioxide pass over
a semi permeable membrane between the walls of the cells and blood vessels to create a level
environment. This membrane only allows these three elements to pass whilst retaining other elements
such as blood cells, hence semi permeable. The high concentration on one side of the cells transfers
through this membrane until the level is equal on both sides.
The human body comprises of two respiratory sponges called lungs. The left lung is slightly smaller
than the right as it makes room for placement of the heart. Due to this slightly smaller size, it only
contains two lobes whereas the right lung has 3 lobes. Both lungs are host to the network of air sacs or
alveoli which transport the air from the outside environment to the external and internal respiration
processes.
As we breathe in, the muscles in the chest wall force the thoracic area, ribs and connective muscles to
contract and expand the chest. The diaphragm is contracted and moves down as the area inside the
chest increases as air enters the lungs. The lungs are forced open by this expansion and the pressure
inside the lungs becomes enough that it pulls

Why It Is Important To Greek Art Essay
Excuse me, my friends for bringing up this topic at such a busy time, but I feel like this a topic that
must be addressed. For many years, Athens was the place for culture. Lycon, you remember those
days where you would throw those fantastic parties! Meletus father was a playwright. Look where it
brought them. To this assembly. My fellow Athenians, we must support the arts in order to become the
center place for Greek culture, and so we do not become idiots like our neighbors, the Spartans. Those
in poverty need entertainment. Let s walk through the life of a poor person. First, they get up in the
morning, usually very early, and start to head off for their workplace. At their workplace, they toil and
toil away until it is time to go home. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Imagine a paved road, going straight across the world until it reaches the end of the earth and falls off.
There is only one way to go. A person who follows this way will become a follower, and will not be
able to make decisions, and will eventually reach the end of the earth and fall off, his voice never to be
heard from again. Now, imagine that the road has many branching pathways, one leading to
righteousness, one leading to justice, one leading to a naked man taking a shower. These are all
choices that we can make. When a person appreciates music, their mind is opened up so that they can
make decisions that are more thought out. Take Crito for example. As a follower of Socrates, and rich
man, you must have some musical training. He used his musical training to develop a new way of
eating pork skins! Instead of getting his hands dirty with, he used a piece of paper to grab his pork
skin and eat it! However, on a serious note, if music is supported, then we will have many people in
our assembly who do have different views, and who do think their ideas out before presenting them.
That, in turn, will lead to a fairer democracy, for we will have more ideas that are of the

Gas Pressure Lab
Question
When the temperature goes up at a constant volume, does the pressure go up proportionally?
Hypothesis
If the pressure of a gas is at a constant volume then pressure will be proportional because as
temperature rises, pressure also goes up.

P ∝ T which can also be written as P=kT and be rearranged as P/T=k and also Pi/Ti = Pf/Tf. This is
considered the Gay Lussac Law. Pressure is proportional to temperature and inversely proportional to
volume and volume is proportional to temperature. As Gay Lussac has a law, Charles and Boyles has
their personal laws. Boyles thinks that there is an inverse relationship between pressure and volume
for gases with constant amounts of gas and at a constant temperature. This statement mathematically
is P ∝ 1/V. It means that pressure is inversely proportional to volume. Charles Law states that the
volume of a fixed amount of gas, at the same pressure, is proportional to its temperature. If
temperature doubles, the volume doubles. Mathematically, it is Vi/Ti=Vf/Tf. All these law combined is
called the combined gas law and can be mathematically expressed like PiVi/Ti = PfVf/Tf. This gas law
includes the shared relationship between pressure, volume, and temperature, which include the
variables in Boyles, Charles and Gay Lussac s Law. The combined gas law shows that pressure is
inversely proportional to volume, or higher volume equals lower pressure, pressure is directly
proportional to temperature or higher temperature equals higher pressure, and also that volume is
directly proportional to temperature, or higher temperature equals higher

Merck s Case Ethical
Merck Case Study
October 14, 2008
Relevant Facts:
Merck was one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Merck was about to lose patent
protection of two of its best selling drugs, which had been a significant part of their $2 billion annual
sales. Merck began putting millions of dollars into research (up to $1 billion) and within three years,
Merck was able to discover four powerful medications. Profits weren t all that Merck cared about;
Merck s founder believed that medicine is for people. It is not for the profits. He also believed that
following the medicine is for people philosophy would lead to profits and had yet to fail. River

In application, people might view Merck s duties in different ways. For example, one might argue that
as a company Merck only has responsibilities to release effective and safe medications and to make a
profit to stay in business. On the other hand, it could be argued that as a pharmaceutical company
Merck has special obligations to follow leads (like ivermectin) because they may greatly benefit
human beings or save lives despite being unprofitable.
Utilitarianism is relevant to the Merck Co. case in that it would have been important for Merck to
predict whether researching the drug further, or playing it safe with other research, would produce the
greatest benefit for the largest number of people. One side would argue that while river blindness
patients are poor, treatment would be of great benefit to those infected (and their
families/communities), so research is warranted. On the other hand, one might argue that it would be
of equal or greater benefit to research medications for more common diseases where patients can
afford medication. They may also argue that if the company went out of business as a result of
ivermectin research that more people would be harmed from the loss of Merck s other research and
medications.
Also, the Rights theory is appropriate in this case, because one might argue that basic human rights are
involved. Merck might be responsible to do research with ivermectin if it s decided that some basic
right is being broken.

Uncertainty In Physics
Lab # 1: Measurements and Uncertainty in Physics Experiments 1 4 Dylan Adams Date: June 22,
2016 Abstract: Experiments 1 4 focused on using different types of measuring tools, and the
uncertainty that goes on while using these tools. The lab focused on rulers, calipers, spring scales, and
stopwatches. Each different type of measurement was analyzed for precision, accuracy, and
uncertainty. Students learned how to calculate measurements on a Vernier caliper, by using the least
half count. Students also learned the formula that was used to obtain the measurement from a caliper:
Lower tick mark value of major scale reading plus the number of least count spaces on the minor scale
multiplied by the least count of the minor scale. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As seen in table 1, the caliper was much more accurate than the ruler. This is true because the caliper
is much easier to read, and has less uncertainty than the ruler. The caliper has less uncertainty than the
ruler because it has the ability to measure at a smaller unit than the ruler. The source of error in this
experiment was that the caliper could easily be bent, giving incorrect measurements. In experiment 2
students tested the uncertainty and accuracy of a 5 and 10 N spring scale. As seen in table 2, the 5 N
spring scale had less uncertainty than the 10 N spring scale. Because of this, the 5N spring scale was
more accurate. The only downfall to the 5N spring scale was that it was not large enough to measure
the weight of the modeling clay. In experiment 3, students tested the error and uncertainty of using a
stopwatch. As seen in table 3, using a stopwatch gave a large variety of measurements. Since the time
it took the marble to fall was so small, it was hard to react quick enough to give accurate readings.
Lastly, in experiment 4 students tried to determine the density of the mass set. As seen in table 4,
students used the radius, diameter, and height in order to find the volume. Once they found the volume
they used the weight of 100 grams in order to find the density. The density of the mass set was found
to be 9.03. This value was closest to the density of copper, but the

A Day In The Life Of Gulliver Rhetorical Devices
Petty, vindictive, cruel, ill informed, egotistical, these are just a few words that come to mind when
describing the Lilliputians attitude in their massive world. At the beginning of the story the capturing
of the mountain man is understandable due to his enormity and their incomprehension on the situation.
However, their ridicule of Gulliver and enslavement of him, forcing him to do what they want in order
for him to get his freedom, is completely inhumane despite his benefits to their society. The irony of
the situation is that he can leave and overpower their whole community at any time, but Gulliver is a
good person and is abiding to the rules imposed upon him by the people of Lilliput. Swift chooses to
portray Lilliputians in an extremely negative light and at the end of the story they have not changed
for the better, but have become even more petty, vindictive, and cruel. ... Show more content on

his own decisions... but they didn t. Instead they negotiated obscure contracts that made Gulliver a
victim of enslavement to this small world. Not only was he a slave to the Lilliputians, but also to
himself and his morals, as he could have easily destroyed the world and left at any time, but instead

evidences but the one from The Kanjera is the solid one for hunting so far. Joseph Ferraro of Baylor
University, Thomas W. Plummer of Queens College, C.U.N.Y., and their collaborators have unearthed
thousands of stone tools and animal bones that were stripped of their flesh and marrow. They also find
out most of the bones are from the little animals and carnivores, that lead them to the idea of the
Hominins hunts and eats those themselves. By listing many of the evidences before ending with the
evidence from The Kanjera and calling it the oldest solid evidence , the author answers the doubts
inside the reader clearly, also, the evidence from Joseph and his collaborators is strong enough for
Wong to convince the readers. By researching, the evidence determines if those little species are killed
by large carnivores, they would have completely consumed the carcasses rather than leaving any
tissue behind , as I read just to this point, this is not solid enough to convince me. But at the end of

Health Care And The Healthcare System

due to the fact that healthcare in itself will never be perfect. Even in other countries around the world,
although their healthcare system works are much better than America s, it is still a work in progress. In

A negative charistic about Switzerland s healthcare system is that the average monthly premium for a
family is seven hundred fifty dollars, which is the second most expensive healthcare in the world
(Palfreman Reid, 2008). One of our biggest problems with our healthcare system is cost, it s way too
expensive. For a family in the United States, the average cost of a premium is almost fourteen
thousand dollars a year. The premiums have also doubled over the past nine years. Our population is
also aging and living much longer, this means more people have health problems which raises
healthcare prices even more. Another big problem in our healthcare system is that it s filled with holes.
People that buy health care on their own can be turned down if they have a preexisting condition.
Small businesses can also be charged if their workers are sick, which makes insurance unaffordable.
Some of the healthcare policies also have a lifetime limit on benefits, which means people least likely
to have coverage are the ones who need it the most (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2013). The best
component of the Affordable Care Act is that it provides newly eligible adults with a benchmark
benefit package , or an equivalent, that meets the minimum health benefits. This new law increases
coverage for primary care services provided by primary care doctors. This law benefits families that

California Drought Analysis
Did you know that in California water is so scarce that farmers are making more money selling water
their supply Than planting food? As we all know California has been experiencing a drought for
several years now, the current drought started in 2011. California is changing a lot of their rules and
regulations to help conserve water during this period of time. Different things that is happening is that
the way people use water has been changed, the statewide water conservation dropping below
eighteen percent in August 2016, and five million out of fifteen million dollars was given to private
well owners and small water systems. California s water reservation is playing a big role in their
current drought situation. California has made rules against water wasting that block, stifle or threaten
homeowners from reducing or eliminating the watering of vegetation or lawns during a declared
drought emergency in violation of existing law. They started a new regulation they go by, they now
have to have monthly water checks for their urban water suppliers. All of this is because if not taken
into action this could affect 6.5 million Californians for a year. ... Show more content on

Dorm Check Ins At Valdosta State University
Dorm Check Ins When paying large amounts of money, most people like to get the most out of what
they pay for. Students all across the country pay thousands of dollars to live on campus housing in
educational institutions. At Valdosta State University, there are nine residential halls on campus with
most of them being freshman dorms. The on campus housing follows a strict policy that states only
two people can be checked in per student. Many students agree that there should be more than two
people who are allowed to check in at any of the given halls here on campus. The dorms should allow
at least four people to be checked in at a time by each resident student. There could be a cap to the
capacity at four, but that is a reasonable number as to how many people can come hangout in each
dorm. Although Valdosta State University is a smaller school compared to some of the big SEC
schools in the state of Georgia, it is still considered to be a well known university. With a count of
about nine thousand undergraduate students attending the school, First year freshmen are required to
live on campus ( Freshmen Residency ). There are a couple of reasons for this requirement that most
people will agree are extremely valid. For example, experts say that students that live on campus for
their first year seem to achieve better grades; they also have a better chance of meeting more people
around campus since they spend most of their time in the perimeter. Since most first year students

Argumentative Essay On Radiocarbon Dating
Radiocarbon dating is a scientific procedure used to calculate the age of dead specimens by the rate of
decay in their levels of C 14. Radiocarbon dating methods are deeply flawed and do not reliably
determine the age of certain fossils or the earth. This is due to the assumptions that they are built upon.
These assumptions include that the conditions on the earth have always been constant and nothing has
ever caused the C 14 levels to fluctuate. These assumptions must be true for radiocarbon dating to be
reliable. However, there is a plethora of evidence showing that these assumptions cannot be trusted.
Radiocarbon dating is a heavily debated topic in the world today. This is primarily due to the powerful
implications it has on people s belief systems. Christians and atheists alike view radiocarbon dating as
important and need to be able to defend or support it. Findings through the process of radiocarbon
dating can help prove or disprove people s beliefs about the world. Radiocarbon dating will always be
a controversial method because of its impact on one s worldview. However, ... Show more content on

For radiocarbon dating to accurately date anything no matter its age, two facts must be accounted for.
The rate of decay of Carbon 14 and the amount of Carbon 14 in the creature at the time of its death
must be known. The rate of decay of Carbon 14 can be determined by its half life, which is around
5,730 years. This means that every 5,730 years the amount of Carbon 14 in an organism is cut in half.
As a result, the amount of Carbon 14 would eventually dissipate to nothing in every organism after its
death. Because of this, radiocarbon dating has a limit to its accuracy. Many times, scientists will claim
that an organism was dated to be many millions of years old. However, according to the half life of
Carbon 14 and the limits that it possesses, this is

1. Introduction/Background Information The discovery of hormones and their function has been
relatively recent. The term was first coined by Professor Earnest Starling in 1905. He derived the word
from the Greek meaning to arouse or excite. However, the idea of the role hormones could be traced

The neuro developmental effects of these chemicals are comparatively well known, while their impact
on human conduct has yet to be fully comprehended.
2. Goals of the study The main goal of this study was to review all of the placebo controlled single
hormone administration studies addressing human social emotional behavior, involving the peptides
oxytocin and vasopressin, and the steroids testosterone and estradiol. This research gives insight into
the underlying neural mechanisms and also demonstrates substantial hormonal control over human
behavior. After reviewing and discussing the placebo controlled studies, they proposed a theoretical
model that synthesized detailed knowledge of neuroendocrinology of social emotional behavior in
animals, as well as the recently gained data on humans. The study of emotional and behavioral
disorders have become more popular in the last twenty years. Characteristics of these irregularities
include: learning disabilities that are not explainable by either sensory, health, or intellectual factors;
persistently inappropriate feelings and conduct; and/or chronic unhappiness or depression (gadoe.org).
The authors of this study thoroughly analyzed the underlying neural mechanisms of supplemental
hormones and how they affect participants as opposed to using a placebo. Research into human
behavior as it relates to neuroendocrinology will be crucial to future generations and their
interrelations.

Robinson And Owens, African American Allstars Essay
Robinson and Owens, African American Allstars There are many people in the world who have made
an impact on America. Many people are known for their strength ,courage, and willingness to fight for
their beliefs. That is what Jackie Robinson and Jesse Owens have in common; they fought for what
they believed in. They broke color barriers, set records, and changed American history. Although they
bear some minor similarities, the differences between Jackie and Jesse are clear. Jackie Robinson s
background and childhood environment had a major impact on the ways he went about changing
African American lives. He is famous for saying that a life is not important except in the impact it has
on other lives (Jackie 1). Jack (Jackie) Roosevelt Robinson is famously well known for becoming the
first black player in the major leagues and playing with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. He was born

Persuasive Essay On Student Debt
Americans owe over $1.45 trillion in student debt. $2,858 of student debt is accrued every second,
there is approximately 44.2 borrower s and 11.2 percent of borrowers are delinquents. Straight out of
high school I knew my choices were to either go to college and take out loans to help me pay for
college or get a full time job and start saving. Neither of my parents have college degrees the only
member of my family that does is my oldest sister Desirae. She graduated from the University of
Alabama with a degree in criminal justice in 2014. This year on December 15th she will be graduating
from Troy University with her master s in public administration. I look up to my sister, so I chose the
college path of course hoping that it would start a new chapter in my life to help me succeed in the
long run. So, I myself am I borrower just like my sister but we had no choice considering our parents
and their financial situations.

Essay On Antinuclear Antibody Nomenclature
Contemporary Issues on Antinuclear Antibody Nomenclature
Detection of ANA by IFA technique demonstrates binding to specific intracellular structures within the
cells resulting in a number of staining patterns that are usually categorized based on the
subcomponents recognized and degree of binding reflected by the fluorescent intensity or titer. The
provision of ANA pattern and titer is considered to be of added clinical value especially with respect
to other methods for their detection [1 3, 15, 21 29]. As mentioned above, the most commonly
recognized and reported patterns by clinical laboratories are those staining the nuclear region referred
to as homogeneous, speckled, centromere, and nucleolar [1, 2, 15 17]. With the use of HEp 2 cells ...

Despite the recognition that non nuclear patterns, cytoplasmic and mitotic are clinically relevant, no
consensus to report these as ANA negative or positive was reached. Central to this contention were the
implications for existing diagnostic/classification criteria for ANA associated diseases such as
autoimmune hepatitis [16, 31].
Assessment of Antinuclear Antibodies
Since the adoption of ANA as a routine clinical laboratory test, the techniques for their detection
and/or measurement have evolved and now encompass a variety of immunological methods [21 30].
IFA using HEp 2 cells is considered the gold standard method for detecting ANA with a number of
cons and pros [1 4, 21, 22, 26, 30]. Central to the analytical challenges associated with ANA IFA
testing are its labor intensiveness with significant amount of training required for competence,
subjectivity in titer, poor standardization of reagents, and pattern determination, labor intensiveness as
well as a decline workforce in the clinical laboratory [1, 4, 15, 30, 32]. Thus, in some laboratories,
ANA IFA has been replaced by high throughput, less subjective methods including ELISA and
multiplex assays such as the line immunoassays (LIA) and multiplexed bead assays (MBA) [22 29].
The non IFA assays differ in source, purity, concentration and binding capacity of the antigens;
reference materials or standards used in their development, as well as secondary antibodies
(conjugates) detection. Therefore, it is not

Watching Kung Fu Panda Three Times
MOM! It s not fair! My youngest child yelled again. Alex continued with his exasperated three year
old logic, AJ got to watch Kung Fu Panda three times, and I only got to see it twice last night! (A. G.
Neff, personal communication, October 4, 2012). The consternation arose from my insistence that a
different movie should be viewed other than the same one that had been continually playing on the
television set for the previous three days. My children always love repeat performances, and ever
since I had pulled the DVD out of the moving boxes and told them I needed to watch it as part of my
own homework, it was as if no other film would satisfy (Cobb, Stevenson Osborne, 2008). My five
year old recognized that I would not allow another viewing without a change in tactics. But Mom, if
you don t watch it again you won t be able to do your homework. You won t know that Po s Dad

had seen the movie no less than three times in the previous 72 hours, I replied, Is that really

Do You Have A Reasonable Expectation Of Privacy
This is really a question that s nearly impossible to answer without some context, since the context
within which you are using the Internet is going to have a significant impact on whether or not you
have a reasonable expectation of privacy.
If you re using your computer at work, and your company has a stated policy regarding monitoring
your use (perhaps even absent that policy, depending on how you read the case law), then you do not
have any reasonable expectation of privacy in anything that you do online using your work computer,
whether that s during your work day, after hours, or while traveling. Your company can legitimately
eavesdrop on anything you do with their equipment, and there s little you can do about it.

When you re sitting in your computer room at home, searching the web, do you have a reasonable
expectation of privacy? Again, let s compare that to a known situation when you call someone on the
phone from your bedroom, you have a reasonable expectation of privacy in relation to that phone call.
Thus, it s likely that you have a similar expectation in regard to your Internet usage.
Of course, all of those things can be change by minor changes in context if you re in your bedroom,
but posting a status update to Facebook that s available to everyone, do you have a reasonable
expectation of privacy in that information? Hardly. If you re using some form of encrypted drive /
communication method that requires some devious form of hackery to break open, could you have a
reasonable expectation of privacy even at work?
And there s yet another permutation here, whether or not you have a reasonable expectation in the
privacy of data that other people are storing about you if someone has your SSN or medical
information in their database, do you have a reasonable expectation of privacy in that information
remaining private? Medical is an easy answer, HIPAA basically defines your expectations for you.

The Architecture Of Schonbrunn Palace
Introduction
Schönbrunn Palace is a political, cultural, and artistic marvel as it stands today and during the period it
was made and as it exists today. The building and all surrounding buildings are meant to be taken in as
a whole, as if it were four walls of canvases each unique and significant while still being part of the
room. Schönbrunn is seen as a Gesamtkunstwerks. It was meant to out shine Versailles Palace in
France. (5,6) From the height of the Hapsburg Empire to the present, the Baroque style Schönbrunn
Palace has provided a splendid showcase for Austria s rich cultural tradition. It is situated on the
premises of former hunting grounds, the Baroque palace, completed in 1713 still stand to contest its
beauty against other baroque style palaces. While it is a precedent of Versailles its Zoo also became a
precedent for future architecture. The typology of this site is one of monarchical power, leisure
hunting, and the summer home, as well as heritage.(2, 3, 6) This paper will describe the Schönbrunn
Palace and provide a historical exploration of the cultural form. The paper will begin with, a physical
description of Palace and surrounding areas, which will explore aspects such as the structure, and
decorative aspects, Buildings and other landmarks that are a part of the overall Palace. Following the
physical description, the historical context of the site will be analyzed, after which the principles of
design will be explained.

an amazing cook which allowed her to cook meals for profit. She also learned how to sew making her
own clothes and used this skill to profit as well. My grandmother tried her best and that was the

The book touches on topics with a broad range from politics to economy to geography. The book is
solely based on research of the Egyptian government from the time when Mubarak took power, 1981,
up until the writing of the book which was in 1989.
Throughout the book, 16 books are cited. Even though the book is based on the government under
Mubarak, the writers refer to events that were held before Mubarak was put into power which helps
the reader understand the important history behind the present. After each chapter, there are
bibliographies as well as endnotes in some chapters listing the sources used in the passage. Except for
the Chapter on the National Debt where his previous statements based on The Central Bank of Egypt,
Cairo contradicts his final assessment of the sum.
The writers of each section always tend to agree with the sources that they have cited. With this
known, I was able to see that the writers in each chapter took into account the other writings of
scholars that wrote on similar topics. Because of the writers many sources, they are able to give an

only Egyptians, but also the Arab Israeli relationship, as well as foreign relations with Arab countries

Brave New World Vs Reality Essay
Brave New World vs. Reality
In many cases when you read a novel you may find comparisons between the quot;fictional quot;
society and your realistic one. The author may consciously or unconsciously create similarities
between these two worlds. The novelist can foresee the future and write according to this vision. In
Brave New World, Adlous Huxley envisions the future of our society and the dangerous direction it is
headed in.
Brave New World is greatly dependant upon soma, as in our world where prescribed drugs and drug
abuse are prominent. This is evident when Bernard and Lenina return from the Savage Reservation.

Living without the drugs seem unimaginable and frightening. If our world does not stop this
dangerous overuse of drugs we will see ourselves evolve into the frightening direction of Brave New
World and will be unable to stop it.
Physical and mental controlling (hypnopaedia) is used to teach moral lessons in Brave New World,
our world uses hypnotism for the same purposes. The incident with Ruben Rabinovich illustrates how
our world is similar to Brave New World. Ruben Rabinovivch was a young boy who fell asleep with
the radio on listening to a professor give a lecture. When he awoke the next morning he could recite
the facts he heard but, he did not know what they meant. This is similar to our world because people
use tapes to help them learn and memorize facts and speeches.
In Brave New World their society is taught moral lessons and slogans by hypnopaedia. For example
quot;a gramme is better than a damn. quot; Today we are forced into believing propaganda and
advertisements. We are bombarded with ads and pressure to buy certain things, or believe what people
tell us. In Brave New World if they do not follow propaganda they are considered abnormal, and are
forced out of society.

This heterogeneous catalyst can be applied to a wide variety of activated and non activated primary
and secondary alcohols. As shown in Table 3, benzyl alcohol and substituted benzyl alcohols are
converted to their corresponding aldehydes efficiently. In the case of benzyl alcohol, after 30 min,
only benzaldehyde was obtained in 99% yield. In longer reaction times (1h), the obtained products are
97% p OCH3 benzaldehyde and 3% p OCH3 benzoic acid. The results show that the substituent s
have no major effect on the oxidation of benzylic alcohols. A good selectivity experimental in the case
of cinnamyl alcohol and only oxidized in alcoholic group and no epoxide yield was obtained.
Manganese(II)non heme was also used for oxidation of secondary alcohols and their corresponding
ketones were obtained in good yields. We used hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as the oxidant and
[Mn(BPMP)(OTf)2] as the catalyst for the oxidation of alcohols. To a mixture of substrate (1mmol),
manganese non heme catalyst (1mol %), and solvent (CH3CN = 3mL) was added H2O2 (1.2mmol).
The reaction mixture was stirred for 30 min at room temperature. This system has shown high
catalytic activities for the oxidation of non activated and activated alcohols under mild conditions as
shown in Table 4. Secondary alcohols were easily converted to the corresponding ketones in excellent
yields and reaction selectivity was over 99% in all cases. Cyclic alcohols

Jurassic Era Research Paper
The beginning of the Jurassic brought a new climate. The weather changed from arid, dry, and
seasonal to humid, hot, and stable. The weather allowed for lush jungles to flourish, and with the lush
jungles, the dinosaurs. The weather change was due to the supercontinent Pangea breaking apart. Two
new smaller supercontinents were formed, Gondwana and Laurasia. The supercontinents now had
more area that was touching the ocean. This meant the water from the ocean made the supercontinents
more humid than before. The dinosaurs thrived in this climate. New species are being discovered to

much is known about this extinction. It is mainly linked to climate change. So far, no connection to
volcanic activity or an asteroid has been made. This extinction gave way to the Cretaceous Period. The
Cretaceous Period had a similar climate to the Jurassic, warm. The geography, however, was changed
a drastic amount from the previous period. The Earth had very high sea levels at this time due to the
lack of polar ice caps. The supercontinents Laurasia and Gondwana were breaking apart into the

activity. The shaping of the modern era was under way. Many other animals besides dinosaurs lived
during the Cretaceous. These animals were very diverse and included pterosaurs, ancient flying

The Relationship Between Marijuana And Depression
By: Tyler Thomas
The relationship between Cannabis sativa (marijuana) and depression has been a primary concern to
research scientists. However, the actual relationship remains double edged as different scholars have
made conflicting conclusions regarding the relationship. A focus has been on the cannabinoids, a
group of chemicals that confer the impacts of the plant on the users. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is
the main active pharmacological constituent of marijuana and the point of interest for the researchers
to discern the relationship between marijuana and depression in the users. In particular, studies try to
find the impact of THC on the cannabinoid receptor (CB) 1. The receptor is located in the peripheral
as well as the central nervous system. THC is an agonist of the CB1, which forms the point of
influence of the marijuana on the nervous system.
The primary concern of researchers is to understand the impact of marijuana on occurrence on
depression. Also, there should be an elaboration on how such an interaction increases or attenuates
depression in the users. Understanding the relationship between marijuana and depression in users will
be instrumental in diverse perspective. The use of marijuana may be promoted if anti depressive
impact is found. It may lead further research to explore the opportunity. Such may include
pharmacological modifications to treat depressed patients. Otherwise, a negative relationship would
lead to increased studies to be utilized in

Solibo Magnificent Essay
The storyteller who has so long used his position to speak to the experiences of his audience utters his
last words, a declaration of his own pain and suffering at the unavoidable and rapid obsolescence of
his craft, and no one hears him. The writer endeavors to tell his story, to write his elegy, and finds his
efforts to be utterly lacking in comparison to the alternative, now presumably dead, medium of the
spoken word. Yet, the irony of it is that in attempting to make this case for the supremacy of the oral
tradition of storytelling, in his novel Solibo Magnificent, Patrick Chamoiseau has created a work of
literature that is at once intensely emotional, playfully satirical and almost heartbreaking in its
capacity to empathize with the experience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is crippled by the fear that he will do it wrong, that to write down the word was nothing but
betrayal, you lost the intonations, the parody, the storyteller s gestures (158). There are things about

memories of those who experienced Solibo directly are lost to time. In fact, it is his memories of
Solibo to which Chamoiseau returns as he struggles with the transition: I d spend weeks recalling what
the Master said, searching out his tone, the look in his eyes, the moments when his amused expression
belied the gravity of his sentences and those times when the fear that danced in his eyes only fed the
flowers of laughter (158). Again, the frustration of knowing exactly what it is he wants to express
while being entirely unable to do so comes through clearly in Chamoiseau s words somewhat
ironically, as he has found a way to express something deeper than just the surface meaning of his
words while wringing his hands over being unable to do just

The Sea Wolf By Jack London
In Jack London s book, The Sea Wolf, the reader has been given a very interesting view on what
would be a minority in the society of the time. The book takes place on a sealing ship in the Pacific
Ocean in the early 20th century. The sailors on these sealing vessels were a brutal group of men. They
were frequently getting into fights with one another and behaving in a beastly manner. One would
wonder though, whether or not the men are actually animals. The rest of the civilized world, at this
point in time, did not behave in this beastly behavior. Perhaps, the beastly or primeval behavior is in
all people and the ability to contain or smother it is what makes them human. Then would that it
possible that some men are animals and others are not? For it would seem, that in this novel, that some
men can control their primeval side and others cannot. Also it may be possible that one s own self can
either evolve or devolve out of or into the primeval state due to the pressure of his environment. Are
men animals? This question can be a hard subject to approach today because many people have many
different beliefs and experiences that would lead to them to one idea or the other. In the novel,
however, there seems to be a leaning towards the idea that men are animals or rather that men can
become animals. It is early in the novel that we get the description of a man looking like something of
an animal. It happens when Humphrey Van Weyden, otherwise known as Hump, sees Wolf

Ark 300 Cubits
Surely as God creates the grandeur of life, He holds an expectation for the humans He crafts in His
image. As Old Testament generations pass, the gap between expectation and reality widens, and God
must establish commandments of His desire for humanity through Moses. His want is for humanity to
love Him by way of obedience out of fear of His power. It is not possible for humans to fear or love
God without keeping to his commandments. Therefore God s ultimate desire for humanity is
obedience, displayed in His readiness to favor those who submit to him and punish though who do
not. From the beginning of Creation in Genesis, it is evident that obedience is what God asks of man.
The first man and woman are free to live as they please in Eden: working the garden, naming the
animals, and eating the fruits. There is but one instruction from God: The LORD God commanded the

The Man Who Was Almost A Man Essay
Illustrations of Authors and Their Relations to Modernism There are many authors that I had an
opportunity of choosing for this essay. I have chosen these two authors because they both have the
same ideas about the modern period, but express it in different ways. Loy expresses her experiences in
Feminist Manifesto during this time as being unequal to men. Wright expresses his difficulties in The
Man Who Was Almost A Man of being considered as a man . As you can see from above, both have
issues dealing with the fact that no one wants to observe them as more than what they have known
them to be. Dave, wants to be considered a man. Loy wants to be recognized as more than just a
woman. Equality is the common ground between the two authors and I will illustrate the similarities
between the two in addition to their view on modernism. Wright s story is one of Modernism due to

However, her view of the Modernism could be considered as one of all women in this time period.
Loy completely rejects the notion that a woman is no equal to man in her work Feminist Manifesto

dominance within society. Loy then implicates that in order for woman to even be remotely
considered as an equal of man she would have to be desuxialized and unlovable (Loy, 1914). In doing
so, she demonstrates that if women were to remove emotion completely from male female relations an
adequate attempt to gain both recognition. Throughout reading Feminist Manifesto (Loy, 1914) she
indicates the want for change in the treatment of women. Not physical treatment, more so rather
emotional and mental. Women of this time period were fighting for equality amongst men. Although
in most cases, women are still fighting, this was a good step forward in achieving her goal of

HIST 803 Week Three Reading Reflections Two thing stood out to me in this week s readings,
although they are closely intertwined: the concepts of Canadian nationalism and Canadian national
identity. These concepts changed greatly between the three Canadian Prime Ministers tenures, St.
Laurent, Diefenbaker, and Pearson, respectively and how these concepts have continued to change up
to the present day. I have noticed that the majority of this week s readings tend to overlook St. Laurent
s, and his government s, contributions to these two issues for while the longstanding Liberal

Canada and a rapidly changing world. During St. Laurent s time in office the British Commonwealth

and then regaining internal homeostasis. Every individual will react differently to stressful situations.
There are positive ways that one can deal with stress. These positive ways are called coping, which is
the multitude of strategies one can use in response to a stressor. There are three different coping
strategies, those of which include problem focused strategies, emotion focused strategies, and avoidant
coping strategies, which can help oneself cope with the stress of everyday life. Stress indicates that
change requires an effort to adapt and then an effort to gain stability (Kato, 2017). In the article
written by Flynn and Chow, they conduct research on a rather large group of college students to see if
college really is the most stressful part of life (Hales, 2009). According to Kaisers (1974) terminology
the study conducted indicates that the data set is marvelous for factor analysis.
Stress on College Students Stress plays a huge role on everybody in everyday life. Being a college
student, I did my research article based on students in college and how stressful it is.
Definition of Stress and Coping Stress, as defined by Kato, is the general term describing the
psychological and bodily response to a stimulus that alters one s state of equilibrium. Coping, also
defined by Kato, is the multitude of strategies one can use in response to a stressor. Emotion focused
strategies change a person s emotional response to the stressor (Kato 2017) Problem focused strategies
focus on taking the stressor head on (Kato, 2017). Avoidant coping involves simply avoiding the
stressor (Kato, 2017).
Research on Stress and Coping In an article written by Deborah M. Flynn, she goes into depth about
self efficacy, self worth and stress. This study is important because the time spent in the post
secondary educational system is one of the most stressful periods of life that has been reported (Hales,
2009). As stated in her article, there are clear differences in how some students cope with stress, some
students view stress as a challenge and thrive, whereas others have difficulty coping (Stoliker and

The Influence Of Nature And Nurture On An Individual s...
INTRODUCTION
The following research shows the influence of nature and nurture on an individual s intelligence.
Intelligence can be defined as The aggregate or global capacity to act purposefully think rationally and
deal effectively with the environment. Thus intelligence helps define ones action in a given situation.
Intelligence can be influenced by many factors, mainly being the nature and environmental. The
natural factor consists of the inborn tendencies and genetics that show that a part of intelligence is
inherited. The nurture consists of environment and socio economic factors that contribute towards
ones intelligence. The issue of nature versus nurture has been constantly debated over in terms of
intelligence. Over the years, the pendulum of intelligence has been swinging from nature to nurture
determining them to be an independent factor for one s intelligence. However this pendulum is seen to
be coming to a standstill forming a theory which supports both the nature and nurture and their
contributions towards one s cognitive abilities and intelligence.
NATURE AND INTELLIGENCE
Over years of study it is has been observed how a part of intelligence is heritable in nature.
Heritability being an estimate of the size of the genetic effect (Dunn and Plomin, 1990; Collier, 2008)
In the field of Behavioral genetics, Studies on monozygotic and dizogotic twins have shown that
monozygotic twins have a variance of 0.64 to 0.74, assuming that there is no environmental

Stereotyping, Discrimination, And Discrimination
Stereotyping and discrimination are very deeply ingrained in American culture. Even though there
have been movements taken to combat stereotyping and discrimination such as the Civil Rights
Movement, the Women s Rights movement, and the Black Lives Matter Movement, it still exists. This
raises the question of, how do we end it? While there is no definite answer there is a way to avoid
stereotyping and discrimination. The three essayists Bharati Mukherjee, Judith Ortiz Cofer, Brent
Staples and show that by learning about stereotyping, people can also learn how to change themselves
to avoid discrimination based on stereotypes. By comparing and contrasting these essayists
experiences as well as outside research to show the theme of why people ... Show more content on

A prime example is the way immigrants change their name to an Americanized version to fit in better.
When immigrants come to America they come for new opportunities and to make a better life for
themselves. According to an article from the New York Times, adopting names that sounded more
American might help immigrants speed assimilation, avoid detection, deter discrimination or just be
better for the businesses they hoped to start in their new homeland (Roberts). Changing identity has
always been part of the culture in the United States, sometimes it is for a good reason and sometimes
it is for a bad reason. Many times people change because they are persecuted for who they are.
Another example of someone being discriminated against happened during World War I when a
Brooklyn judge refused the application of a Weitz to become a Weeks. There is no good reason why
persons of German extraction should be permitted to conceal the fact by adopting through the aid of
the court names of American or English origin, the judge ruled (Roberts). His person tried to escape
discrimination and the anti German sentiment that America held during the war and was denied.
Sometimes people refuse to change and it does not end well for them. The example that Mukherjee
uses in her essay compares the experiences of her and her sister when they both come to America for

The Truth About Leadership By James Kouzes And Barry Posner
The word leadership has lost its power. A leader, in today s vernacular, liberally signifies any
individual who occupies a position of authority or management. Leadership is more than a discounted
buzzword or entitlement. There are an infinite number of interpretations of leadership and no singular,
definitive solution. However, despite the seemingly insurmountable challenge that leadership is,
authors James Kouzes and Barry Posner scientifically defined what makes a great leader. Their book,
The Truth About Leadership: the no fads, heart of the matter facts you need to know, provides ten
truths that define proper leadership.
Kouzes and Posner are indisputably leadership experts. Their partnership includes co authoring
various books, developing a universally used leadership assessment instrument, conducting leadership
development programs for prominent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are actualities solely dependent on the leader s acceptance and implementation to their
leadership style. Leadership starts with the recognition that you make a difference. There are no
prerequisites to leadership, take Kouzes and Posner s example of Melissa Poe. A fourth grader
concerned about the environment whose message transformed into a multinational organization
responsible for planting over one million trees. Another important aspect of this truth is that leaders
are local. The author s survey revealed that family members are overwhelming viewed as leaders, not
celebrities or recognizable figure heads. In their article Why Should Anyone Be Led by You?, Goffee
and Jones state that everyone can be a leader is a myth. Expanding on the context of their statement
and considering Kouzes and Posner s work, the commonality is that you matter and can only be a
leader if you want to. Those who do not want to are

Influence of Iliad to Troy
First off, Homer s Iliad was the main source of influence for Wolfgang Petersen s film, Troy. However,
even though it is directly influenced by the poem, Troy does not stay true to the poem for the entire
movie. Some major difference s between Homer s Iliad and Wolfgang Petersen s film Troy, is that
there was no mention of the Gods being participants in the battle of Troy. This was a major plot point
in Homer s Iliad, as the Gods who fought on the battlefield had somewhat of an influence on the
outcome of each battle and eventually the outcome of the war. By taking out the God element that the
original poem had, Wolfgang Petersen has given the film more room for human emotions. This allows
themes like love to be much more emphasised than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By doing this Petersen gave the film a sort of good guy gets the girl type feeling, as Paris is shown to
be innocent and harmless, even though he caused the war. In the film he may be seen as a hero type
character, but in the poem, he is seen as a villain type character. As stated before, Paris is a villain.
because he cause the Trojan war.
Petersen s version of the Trojan war, stays true to the basic plot line of the actual Trojan war detailed
in Homer s Iliad. However the basic plot line which Petersen retains is not enough to give viewers,
details on what really happened in the Trojan war. Petersen sacrifices key plot points for themes that
will appeal to the more modern audience as his version contains the drama that a modern audience
loves and the theme of romance and love, which the modern audience also enjoys. This would not be
the case for an ancient Greek audience, as the ancient Greeks preferred a much more violent,
philosophical story, with literary opinions on the Gods, which they

The Reflection Of Mirrors In Black Swan By Nina Sawyers
A mirror only reflects who people have become on appearance, but whispers to the psyche of its
audience to reveal who they desire to be in their fantasy. A mirror plays a rather important role in most
of our mundane lives routinely used to fix erratic hair, oddly looking at ourselves brushing our teeth,
and for some, correcting the red mountain flaws against the skin. To a ballerina a mirror represents a
sense of alignment with one s body. To Nina Sawyers, perfecting her technique is important and the
only way to fix her mistakes is if she turns her life upside down. Sawyers practices so often she starts
to take notice of her evolution from childhood to adulthood through a mirror.
Director Darren Aronofsky uses a technique that executes an important meaning specifically his
arrangement of mirrors in the movie shows self reflection of the leading character. Obviously, a
ballerina primarily uses mirrors to build and correct his/her weakness out of obsession and technique
perfection. Which in Black Swan takes up nearly the entire movie, however it expands beyond our
initial perception. Aronofsky uses the mirrors in a way so complex it shows the audience the internal
struggles that Sawyer encounters in her household and in her career. Black Swan illustrates what Nina
Sawyers, a devoted dancer, can do in order to achieve her wildest dreams on hardwork and dedication
alone.
Toma, the director of Swan Lake defines Nina as a beautiful, fearful, fragile , dancer. Sawyer is an

Military Diet Research Paper
The Military Diet is a popular fad diet that purports to help people lose up to 10 pounds in three days.

certain foods burn more calories when eaten in a specific combination with one another. The foods
must be eaten exactly as described in the diet plan in order for rapid weight loss to occur. The strict

Puritans Ethics And The Pinto Disaster
It is important to note, however, that Puritans ethics have been the catalyst that accelerated the growth
of capitalism (Weber 107). At the same time, Puritans ethics initiated a formal and instrumental
approach to life (115). In the case of the Pinto Disaster, Weber would claim that Ford s decision to
settle in lawsuits, instead of installing the safety gadget, is a mathematical approach to life. Firstly,
Weber would argue that bureaucracies structure has created a hierarchy system where workers are
powerless and have fewer obligations. According to Dowie, the Pinto engineer did notify his superior
about the defected product with a solution (16). However, the powerless engineer did not have the
approval of his superior make the necessary

Polygyny And Polygamy
Marriage; what is the first thing that comes to mind? For many its monogamy, but what is monogamy?
Monogamy means that an individual has one spouse at a time (Lancy, 2015) however; in many
cultures monogamy is not the first thing that comes to mind. There are different types of marriage in
fact there are 2 types monogamy as stated earlier and Polygamy. Polygamy has two subsections within
it which are polyandry defined as one wife with two or more husbands or polygyny defined as one
husband with two or more wives (Lancy, 2015). Within this paper there are three groups being
compared and contrasted who all part take in polygynous marriages. The three groups are the Bedouin
Arab men, the Cree and Saulteaux bands, and the Shirazi from the Comoro Islands. Polygyny is quite
complex, it is different for every group and there are factors that must be considered to each group
before going along with a polygynous marriage.
The first study that will be discussed is the Bedouin Arabs; an Interview with 100 Bedouin Arab
husbands, wives, children, and extended family members of polygynous families in the Negev of
Israel (Slonim Nevo, Al Krenawi and Yuval Shani, 2008) was conducted. For this study they were all
chosen to self report their family dynamics. The reports suggested that a distinct contrasts [was] found
between familial relationships in high functioning families and low functioning families. Differences
occurred between husbands of low and high functioning families

Adaptation Of Taylor-Powell Logic Model
1. Adaptation of Taylor Powell Logic Model (1999) (McCawley, 2002)
The Logic Model is a visual model or tool, which is drawn from the basic structure of David Easton s
System Theory, used in describing the underlying concept of an object under study. Used by program
evaluators and managers in assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of a specific program used for
almost twenty years, the Logic Model involves on giving descriptions regarding the relationship of the
inputs, program resources, outputs, and outcomes in addressing a specific problem or situation. This
model helps in determining the critical measures of performances in a program. This framework also
illustrates and points out a causal relationship between the situation or problem to the outputs and
inputs and to the outcomes.
In the Logic Model, the process will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Three bodies of literature were said to be the guiding factor in the development of this theoretical
framework. First is the organization theory and the work on organizational change wherein they
acknowledge the importance of the concerns about organizational control in sociological work which
was influenced by Max Weber, and which included Crozier s classic French study of bureaucratic
resistance to change in 1984and Etzioni s analysis of forms of compliance written in 1961. The second
guiding factor was Dolbeare and Hammond s study of the factors that influenced responses to US
Supreme Court rulings on school prayers in 1971 and other studies on the impact of public policy
andjudicial decisions. And lastly, studies of inter governmental relations such as the literatures written
by Derthick in 1970 and 1972 and the work of Pressman and Wildavsky in 1973 helped them

Of the 2181 parliamentary decisions eligible for an optional referendum from 1848 to 2005, only 156 were subject to them. Of these 156, only 46% were successful in rejecting legislation that had been passed by Parliament. The already expansive institution of direct democracy was further extended in 1891 with the introduction of the popular initiative for the partial revision of the Constitution that must also be accepted by a double majority of people and cantons. In order to present a popular initiative to the electorate, organizers must gather 100,000 signatures within eighteen months. Interestingly, popular initiatives can consist of complete proposals for constitutional modifications or merely a proposal that simply states a general goal of changing the Constitution leaving it up to Parliament to implement said goals as it sees fit. • 4. The Respiratory System Essay The respiratory system is the process responsible for the transportation and exchange of gases into and out of the human body. As we breath in, oxygen in the air containing oxygen is drawn into the lungs through a series of air pipes known as the airway and into the lungs. As air is drawn into the lungs and waste gas excreted, it passes through the airway, first through the mouth or nose and through the pharynx, larynx and windpipe also known as the trachea. At this point it then enters the lungs through the bronchi before finally reaching the air sacs known as alveoli. Within the lungs, through a process known as diffusion, the oxygen is transferred to the blood stream through the alveoli (air ducts) where it is then transported inside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within the alveoli, the oxygen is transferred to the blood whilst simultaneously collecting waste carbon dioxide for excretion as we breath out. This transference is known as diffusion and is linked to the cardiovascular system. Diffusion is an automated process by where the levels of oxygen, water and carbon dioxide pass over a semi permeable membrane between the walls of the cells and blood vessels to create a level environment. This membrane only allows these three elements to pass whilst retaining other elements such as blood cells, hence semi permeable. The high concentration on one side of the cells transfers through this membrane until the level is equal on both sides. The human body comprises of two respiratory sponges called lungs. The left lung is slightly smaller than the right as it makes room for placement of the heart. Due to this slightly smaller size, it only contains two lobes whereas the right lung has 3 lobes. Both lungs are host to the network of air sacs or alveoli which transport the air from the outside environment to the external and internal respiration processes. As we breathe in, the muscles in the chest wall force the thoracic area, ribs and connective muscles to contract and expand the chest. The diaphragm is contracted and moves down as the area inside the chest increases as air enters the lungs. The lungs are forced open by this expansion and the pressure inside the lungs becomes enough that it pulls ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For many years, Athens was the place for culture. Lycon, you remember those days where you would throw those fantastic parties! Meletus father was a playwright. Look where it brought them. To this assembly. My fellow Athenians, we must support the arts in order to become the center place for Greek culture, and so we do not become idiots like our neighbors, the Spartans. Imagine a paved road, going straight across the world until it reaches the end of the earth and falls off. There is only one way to go. A person who follows this way will become a follower, and will not be able to make decisions, and will eventually reach the end of the earth and fall off, his voice never to be heard from again. Now, imagine that the road has many branching pathways, one leading to righteousness, one leading to justice, one leading to a naked man taking a shower. These are all choices that we can make. When a person appreciates music, their mind is opened up so that they can make decisions that are more thought out. Take Crito for example. As a follower of Socrates, and rich man, you must have some musical training. He used his musical training to develop a new way of eating pork skins! Instead of getting his hands dirty with, he used a piece of paper to grab his pork skin and eat it! However, on a serious note, if music is supported, then we will have many people in our assembly who do have different views, and who do think their ideas out before presenting them. That, in turn, will lead to a fairer democracy, for we will have more ideas that are of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

P ∝ T which can also be written as P=kT and be rearranged as P/T=k and also Pi/Ti = Pf/Tf. This is considered the Gay Lussac Law. Pressure is proportional to temperature and inversely proportional to volume and volume is proportional to temperature. As Gay Lussac has a law, Charles and Boyles has their personal laws. Boyles thinks that there is an inverse relationship between pressure and volume for gases with constant amounts of gas and at a constant temperature. This statement mathematically is P ∝ 1/V. It means that pressure is inversely proportional to volume. Charles Law states that the volume of a fixed amount of gas, at the same pressure, is proportional to its temperature. If temperature doubles, the volume doubles. Mathematically, it is Vi/Ti=Vf/Tf. All these law combined is called the combined gas law and can be mathematically expressed like PiVi/Ti = PfVf/Tf. This gas law includes the shared relationship between pressure, volume, and temperature, which include the variables in Boyles, Charles and Gay Lussac s Law. On the other hand, it could be argued that as a pharmaceutical company Merck has special obligations to follow leads (like ivermectin) because they may greatly benefit human beings or save lives despite being unprofitable. Utilitarianism is relevant to the Merck Co. case in that it would have been important for Merck to predict whether researching the drug further, or playing it safe with other research, would produce the greatest benefit for the largest number of people. One side would argue that while river blindness patients are poor, treatment would be of great benefit to those infected (and their families/communities), so research is warranted. On the other hand, one might argue that it would be of equal or greater benefit to research medications for more common diseases where patients can afford medication. They may also argue that if the company went out of business as a result of ivermectin research that more people would be harmed from the loss of Merck s other research and medications. Also, the Rights theory is appropriate in this case, because one might argue that basic human rights are involved. Merck might be responsible to do research with ivermectin if it s decided that some basic right is being broken. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The lab focused on rulers, calipers, spring scales, and stopwatches. Each different type of measurement was analyzed for precision, accuracy, and uncertainty. Students learned how to calculate measurements on a Vernier caliper, by using the least half count. Students also learned the formula that was used to obtain the measurement from a caliper: Lower tick mark value of major scale reading plus the number of least count spaces on the minor scale multiplied by the least count of the minor scale. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As seen in table 1, the caliper was much more accurate than the ruler. This is true because the caliper is much easier to read, and has less uncertainty than the ruler. The caliper has less uncertainty than the ruler because it has the ability to measure at a smaller unit than the ruler. The source of error in this experiment was that the caliper could easily be bent, giving incorrect measurements. In experiment 2 students tested the uncertainty and accuracy of a 5 and 10 N spring scale. As seen in table 2, the 5 N spring scale had less uncertainty than the 10 N spring scale. Because of this, the 5N spring scale was more accurate. The only downfall to the 5N spring scale was that it was not large enough to measure the weight of the modeling clay. In experiment 3, students tested the error and uncertainty of using a stopwatch. As seen in table 3, using a stopwatch gave a large variety of measurements. Since the time it took the marble to fall was so small, it was hard to react quick enough to give accurate readings. Lastly, in experiment 4 students tried to determine the density of the mass set. As seen in table 4, students used the radius, diameter, and height in order to find the volume. Once they found the volume they used the weight of 100 grams in order to find the density. Radiocarbon dating methods are deeply flawed and do not reliably determine the age of certain fossils or the earth. This is due to the assumptions that they are built upon. These assumptions include that the conditions on the earth have always been constant and nothing has ever caused the C 14 levels to fluctuate. These assumptions must be true for radiocarbon dating to be reliable. However, there is a plethora of evidence showing that these assumptions cannot be trusted. The provision of ANA pattern and titer is considered to be of added clinical value especially with respect to other methods for their detection [1 3, 15, 21 29]. Despite the recognition that non nuclear patterns, cytoplasmic and mitotic are clinically relevant, no consensus to report these as ANA negative or positive was reached. Central to this contention were the implications for existing diagnostic/classification criteria for ANA associated diseases such as autoimmune hepatitis [16, 31]. Assessment of Antinuclear Antibodies Since the adoption of ANA as a routine clinical laboratory test, the techniques for their detection and/or measurement have evolved and now encompass a variety of immunological methods [21 30]. IFA using HEp 2 cells is considered the gold standard method for detecting ANA with a number of cons and pros [1 4, 21, 22, 26, 30]. Central to the analytical challenges associated with ANA IFA testing are its labor intensiveness with significant amount of training required for competence, subjectivity in titer, poor standardization of reagents, and pattern determination, labor intensiveness as well as a decline workforce in the clinical laboratory [1, 4, 15, 30, 32]. Thus, in some laboratories, ANA IFA has been replaced by high throughput, less subjective methods including ELISA and multiplex assays such as the line immunoassays (LIA) and multiplexed bead assays (MBA) [22 29]. My five year old recognized that I would not allow another viewing without a change in tactics. But Mom, if you don t watch it again you won t be able to do your homework. You won t know that Po s Dad [Note: according to the movie transcript Po s Dad is the character s actual name] isn t even a panda! (Aibel Berger, 2008, p. 3). Without explaining that I had already familiar with the situation because I had seen the movie no less than three times in the previous 72 hours, I replied, Is that really important? YES! They both yelled back. AJ unwittingly enlightened me, All the animals are different, but they re ALL important! They all have to do different stuff to help Po be[come] the Dragon Warrior! (A. J. Do You Have A Reasonable Expectation Of Privacy This is really a question that s nearly impossible to answer without some context, since the context within which you are using the Internet is going to have a significant impact on whether or not you have a reasonable expectation of privacy. However, the actual relationship remains double edged as different scholars have made conflicting conclusions regarding the relationship. A focus has been on the cannabinoids, a group of chemicals that confer the impacts of the plant on the users. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the main active pharmacological constituent of marijuana and the point of interest for the researchers to discern the relationship between marijuana and depression in the users. In particular, studies try to find the impact of THC on the cannabinoid receptor (CB) 1. The receptor is located in the peripheral as well as the central nervous system. THC is an agonist of the CB1, which forms the point of influence of the marijuana on the nervous system. The primary concern of researchers is to understand the impact of marijuana on occurrence on depression. Also, there should be an elaboration on how such an interaction increases or attenuates depression in the users. Understanding the relationship between marijuana and depression in users will be instrumental in diverse perspective. The use of marijuana may be promoted if anti depressive impact is found. • 34. The Sea Wolf By Jack London In Jack London s book, The Sea Wolf, the reader has been given a very interesting view on what would be a minority in the society of the time. The book takes place on a sealing ship in the Pacific Ocean in the early 20th century. The sailors on these sealing vessels were a brutal group of men. They were frequently getting into fights with one another and behaving in a beastly manner. One would wonder though, whether or not the men are actually animals. The rest of the civilized world, at this point in time, did not behave in this beastly behavior. Perhaps, the beastly or primeval behavior is in all people and the ability to contain or smother it is what makes them human. Then would that it possible that some men are animals and others are not? For it would seem, that in this novel, that some men can control their primeval side and others cannot. Also it may be possible that one s own self can either evolve or devolve out of or into the primeval state due to the pressure of his environment. Are men animals? This question can be a hard subject to approach today because many people have many different beliefs and experiences that would lead to them to one idea or the other. In the novel, however, there seems to be a leaning towards the idea that men are animals or rather that men can become animals. As Old Testament generations pass, the gap between expectation and reality widens, and God must establish commandments of His desire for humanity through Moses. His want is for humanity to love Him by way of obedience out of fear of His power. It is not possible for humans to fear or love God without keeping to his commandments. Therefore God s ultimate desire for humanity is obedience, displayed in His readiness to favor those who submit to him and punish though who do not. From the beginning of Creation in Genesis, it is evident that obedience is what God asks of man. The first man and woman are free to live as they please in Eden: working the garden, naming the animals, and eating the fruits. • 38. The Positive Effects Of Stress On College Students Stress plays a big part on the daily life of every individual. Stress is a natural by product of adapting and then regaining internal homeostasis. Every individual will react differently to stressful situations. There are positive ways that one can deal with stress. These positive ways are called coping, which is the multitude of strategies one can use in response to a stressor. There are three different coping strategies, those of which include problem focused strategies, emotion focused strategies, and avoidant coping strategies, which can help oneself cope with the stress of everyday life. Stress indicates that change requires an effort to adapt and then an effort to gain stability (Kato, 2017). In the article written by Flynn and Chow, they conduct research on a rather large group of college students to see if college really is the most stressful part of life (Hales, 2009). According to Kaisers (1974) terminology the study conducted indicates that the data set is marvelous for factor analysis. Stress on College Students Stress plays a huge role on everybody in everyday life. Being a college student, I did my research article based on students in college and how stressful it is. Definition of Stress and Coping Stress, as defined by Kato, is the general term describing the psychological and bodily response to a stimulus that alters one s state of equilibrium. Coping, also defined by Kato, is the multitude of strategies one can use in response to a stressor. Emotion focused strategies change a person s emotional response to the stressor (Kato 2017) Problem focused strategies focus on taking the stressor head on (Kato, 2017). Avoidant coping involves simply avoiding the stressor (Kato, 2017). Research on Stress and Coping In an article written by Deborah M. Flynn, she goes into depth about self efficacy, self worth and stress. This study is important because the time spent in the post secondary educational system is one of the most stressful periods of life that has been reported (Hales, 2009). Intelligence can be defined as The aggregate or global capacity to act purposefully think rationally and deal effectively with the environment. Thus intelligence helps define ones action in a given situation. Intelligence can be influenced by many factors, mainly being the nature and environmental. The natural factor consists of the inborn tendencies and genetics that show that a part of intelligence is inherited. The nurture consists of environment and socio economic factors that contribute towards ones intelligence. The issue of nature versus nurture has been constantly debated over in terms of intelligence. Over the years, the pendulum of intelligence has been swinging from nature to nurture determining them to be an independent factor for one s intelligence. However this pendulum is seen to be coming to a standstill forming a theory which supports both the nature and nurture and their contributions towards one s cognitive abilities and intelligence. NATURE AND INTELLIGENCE Over years of study it is has been observed how a part of intelligence is heritable in nature. Heritability being an estimate of the size of the genetic effect (Dunn and Plomin, 1990; Collier, 2008) In the field of Behavioral genetics, Studies on monozygotic and dizogotic twins have shown that monozygotic twins have a variance of 0.64 to 0.74, assuming that there is no environmental ... Leadership starts with the recognition that you make a difference. There are no prerequisites to leadership, take Kouzes and Posner s example of Melissa Poe. • 42. Influence of Iliad to Troy First off, Homer s Iliad was the main source of influence for Wolfgang Petersen s film, Troy. However, even though it is directly influenced by the poem, Troy does not stay true to the poem for the entire movie. Some major difference s between Homer s Iliad and Wolfgang Petersen s film Troy, is that there was no mention of the Gods being participants in the battle of Troy. This was a major plot point in Homer s Iliad, as the Gods who fought on the battlefield had somewhat of an influence on the outcome of each battle and eventually the outcome of the war. By taking out the God element that the original poem had, Wolfgang Petersen has given the film more room for human emotions. This allows themes like love to be much more emphasised than ... By doing this Petersen gave the film a sort of good guy gets the girl type feeling, as Paris is shown to be innocent and harmless, even though he caused the war. In the film he may be seen as a hero type character, but in the poem, he is seen as a villain type character. As stated before, Paris is a villain. because he cause the Trojan war. Petersen s version of the Trojan war, stays true to the basic plot line of the actual Trojan war detailed in Homer s Iliad. However the basic plot line which Petersen retains is not enough to give viewers, details on what really happened in the Trojan war. Petersen sacrifices key plot points for themes that will appeal to the more modern audience as his version contains the drama that a modern audience loves and the theme of romance and love, which the modern audience also enjoys. This would not be the case for an ancient Greek audience, as the ancient Greeks preferred a much more violent, philosophical story, with literary opinions on the Gods, which they ... Director Darren Aronofsky uses a technique that executes an important meaning specifically his arrangement of mirrors in the movie shows self reflection of the leading character. Obviously, a ballerina primarily uses mirrors to build and correct his/her weakness out of obsession and technique perfection. Which in Black Swan takes up nearly the entire movie, however it expands beyond our initial perception. Aronofsky uses the mirrors in a way so complex it shows the audience the internal struggles that Sawyer encounters in her household and in her career. Black Swan illustrates what Nina Sawyers, a devoted dancer, can do in order to achieve her wildest dreams on hardwork and dedication alone. At the same time, Puritans ethics initiated a formal and instrumental approach to life (115). In the case of the Pinto Disaster, Weber would claim that Ford s decision to settle in lawsuits, instead of installing the safety gadget, is a mathematical approach to life.
