John Lennon
1.
2. When and how did his career begin?
• He formed his first band The Black Jacks with some friends from school,
changing their name to The Quarrymen soon afterwards. For the first few
months of their existence the group performed for free at local parties
before having their first professional gig mid 1957.
• The next show is where he meets Paul McCartney
• Paul then wanted his friend George Harrison to be in the running to
join.
• Pete Best was then replaced by Ringo Starr
And there we have The Beatles one of the world’s most famous and
successful bands.
3. Who created outfits and ideas?
• John Lennon, his manager and the rest of the band decided on
clothing, tour ideas etc.
• However, when he began branching out by himself fashion wise, the
others followed, not leaving much down to their manager but they all
stuck together in terms of style.
4. How was everything they did funded?
• The money for everything they did started from, like most other
artists, their recording company.
• After the money started coming in from gigs they became a brand
and had a lot of band merchandise and people quickly became
obsessed with The Beatles and wanted to dress exactly like them and
their concerts sold out ridiculously quickly meaning a lot of money
was coming in.
7. Views on life (quotes)
• “Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans”
• “Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted”
• “We were all on this ship in the sixties, our generation, a ship going to
discover the New World. And the Beatles were in the crow's nest of that ship”
• “Love is the flower you've got to let grow”
• “Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we're being
run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I'm liable to be put away as
insane for expressing that. That's what's insane about it!”
