- 1. QUESTION 7: LOOK BACK AT YOUR PRELIMINARY TASK, WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE LEARNT IN THE PROGRESSION IT TO THE FINAL PRODUCT? I used the school name (Priory) and incorporated it into the word “priority”. This is a rather cheesy and uninventive masthead. When I moved to the music magazine I called a blues and jazz magazine “Blues News” which is far more inventive and also catchy, which fits well with the masthead criteria. As well as this, the font used is far better in the music magazine and wasn’t made on “cooltext.com” which is where I made the school magazine masthead.
- 2. The pictures I used for the preliminary task were taken on a video camera and had a very low megapixel. However, the pictures I took for the music magazine were taken on a DSLR camera so are of a higher quality. This dramatically changed the look of my magazine as they made it look more professional. So I learnt to use a better camera to get better quality pictures that show off detail.
- 3. My skills within Photoshop in general improved dramatically. I went from having next to no understanding of Photoshop (evident in my preliminary task) to being able to help others in my class. A few quick shortcuts definitely helped me in making my magazine look as professional as possible. For example the CTRL + a letter shortcuts were especially helpful in producing my products as quickly as possible. As mentioned in my bubble diagram ain answer to question 6 the use of the quick selection tool definitely came in handy when selecting people and objects and taking them out of their original backgrounds. My first Double Page Spread was done on Word and it meant I had to adapt and try and use different tools I hadn’t used before. For example I had-believe it or not- never had to turn the background a different colour and for my initial piece I had a blue background. I eventually decided to do my DPS on Photoshop as there was more available in terms of editing and it gave me more freedom.
