Who would be your audience for
your media product? How did you
attract and address them?
• My magazine target audience is for teenagers and
early 20s, mostly male but would still appeal to
females.
• People who are interested in the scene would be
the best audience as they would understand the
stories and know of the artists.
• The magazine is for a very closed target audience
as it wouldn’t appeal unless they were into grime.
Attracting a reader
• To attract a reader I used eye catching fonts
and colors that stand out from the cover
image.
• The coverlines and head line talk about things
that will be in the magazine but to find out
more you have to buy the magazine. This will
attract readers because they will want to read
more.
Addressing the reader
• The type of language used is mainly slang and
modern language.
• Words such as ‘mixtape’ are a way of showing
new music production but shown in a more
modern way.
• I used a question as well so that the reader must
find the answer and the featured article in the
magazine.
• The language throughout is more likely to make
sense if you are a teenager/young adult
Archetypal reader
This is Luke, he is a typical reader of my
magazine and is 19 years old. He is into grime
and has a part time job.
His favorite artist Cadet and he inspires to be
like him. He was brought up in Brixton,
London and was surrounded by crime and
lived on the same block as some grime artists.
He listens to various artists and likes going to
different shows. His last show was Giggs at the
o2 arena. He wants to be like the people
around him and has the same fashion sense.
Archetypal reader
• Luke would like my magazine because it has
featured articles on artists that he likes to
listen to and chances to win tickets to see
shows. The images would attract him because
of the fashion sense and the text on the cover
image because he wants to be a bigger part of
the grime scene.
