LSC BASKETBALL
Two Lone Star Conference teams - Angelo State men (10-0) and West Texas A&M women (9-0) - remain
undefeated after non-conference action. ASU is now one win away from breaking the record for the best
season start in program history which was set in 2013.
The LSC men have a 57-20 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s
teams are currently 13-9 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 12-8 against the Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference.
The LSC women are 46-30 overall. The women’s squads are currently 20-13 combined against the Heartland,
and 8-6 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
MEN’S OFFENSIVE
Anthony Adams, Texas A&M University - Commerce, SR, Guard, Pontiac, Mich., Pontiac HS
Adams led the Lions to a perfect 4-0 week. He opened the week with 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists
in a Lions’ 89-87 road win over Harding on Monday. He followed with a career-high 27 points after going 10-of-
15 from the floor including a perfect 2-for-2 from behind the three-point arc. Adams was clutch after providing
a corner three with a 1:29 left then sinking a jumper in the lane with 39 seconds to play to seal the 85-79 win
over HU in the week’s second meeting. Adams scored 15 points and four assists in a 75-63 win over Ouachita
Baptist Saturday. He capped the week off with nine points and three assists in the Lions last minute win over
East Central.
MEN’S DEFENSIVE
Malcolm Hamilton, Tarleton State University, SR, Guard, Kansas City, MO, Ruskin HS
Since being inserted into the starting lineup five games ago, all Hamilton has done is dominate on the defensive
end of the floor. Hamilton registered his fourth straight double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds in a 74-
58 win over UTPB. They are the only double-doubles of Hamilton’s career. The senior guard also collected two
steals and is tied for the LSC lead with 1.8 steals per game. Hamilton helped hold UTPB to 33.9 percent shooting
and only 58 points when UTPB came in averaging 97.8 points per game.
WOMEN’S OFFENSIVE
Taylor Dorsey, Angelo State University, SR, Guard, Fort Worth, Texas, Dunbar HS
Dorsey tied for the seventh highest single game point total in ASU history with 36 points in a 86-59 win over
St. Mary’s. The junior went 15-for-22 (.682) from the floor while draining two 3-pointers and four free throws.
She also grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists. The 36 points is the most points scored by a Belle
since Natalja Tsurbakova scored 38 against SWOSU in January of 2005.
WOMEN’S DEFENSIVE
Jasmine Prophet, Angelo State University, JR, Forward, Jackson, Miss., Hightower HS
Prophet was key to a ASU defense that limited St. Mary’s to just 25 second half points in an 86-59 victory. The
junior blocked two shots and grabbed a team high seven rebounds. Prophet helped limit the Rattlers to a .302
clip and .212 in the second half.
MEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Bretson McNeal, Midwestern State University, drilled three 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 19 points
as No. 12-ranked Midwestern State rolled to a 91-60 win over NAIA No. 15-ranked Southwestern Assemblies of
God Saturday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The 6-2 guard from Minneapolis added four rebounds, two assists, a
blocked shot and a steal in 21 minutes to lead the Mustangs to their best start since 2011-12 improving to 8-1.
McNeal upped his season scoring average to 14.1 points per game shooting 52.4 percent from the field and 49
percent from 3-point range.
EJ Reed, Tarleton State University, continues to lead to No. 7 Tarleton to wins with his scoring. Reed, the LSC
leader in points per game with 21.7, scored 17 in a 74-58 rout over Texas-Permian Basin. Reed shot 60 percent
from the floor and 83 percent from the free-throw line in the win. The senior also had six rebounds with four
coming on the offensive end.
Tre Bennett, Angelo State University, was the driving force behind the Rams high scoring offense this week.
The senior point guard led the team in several categories which included points scored (28), free throws made
(12-12) and assists (12). He scored a team high 19 points and was a perfect 9-9 from the line in ASU’s last match-
up. Bennett has also knocked down double-digit points in all except three games this season and is averaging
17.3 points per game thus far. His 53 assists on the year is tops on the team and in the LSC, while his 4.5 assist
per game average leads the team and is third in the LSC. Bennett also added five rebounds and three steals to
his overall numbers for the week.
Trevor Fuller, Midwestern State University, set season highs with nine points, nine rebounds and four
assists while helping No. 12-ranked Midwestern State to a 91-60 win over NAIA No. 15-ranked Southwestern
Assemblies of God Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Fuller’s efforts helped MSU limit SAGU to a
31.1-percent shooting performance to key the rout. The 6-8 forward also swatted two shots to run his LSC
leading total to 24.
Thomas Tshikaya, Angelo State University, has really stepped into the limelight for the Rams defense as

of late. This week he led the team with 18 total boards, with 15 of those being marked as defensive. He has
averaged nine total rebounds over the past two games and has pulled down at least six total rebounds in each
of the last four games for ASU. Against McMurry the big man pocketed three steals and three blocks to add to
his numbers for the week. Offensively, the French native dropped 16 points for the week and was 7-11 (.636)
from the field and added a solo 3-pointer and foul shot to the mix.
Jeff Bonner, West Texas A&M University, had another strong week for the Buffs as WT’s lone senior averaged
13.3 points per contest to go along with a team leading 6.7 rebounds per game as the Buffs went 2-1 on
the week to improve to 8-4 overall on the season. The Houston native went 16-of-23 (69.6%) from the floor
including 8-of-14 (57.1%) from the free throw line this past week while grabbing 20 total rebounds (12 offensive,
eight defensive) to go along with three assists and three steals for the Buffs.
Bryant Crowder, Texas A&M University - Commerce, aided the Lions in a perfect 4-0 week after accounting
for 17 points per game. He opened with week with 18 points in the Lions road win over Harding before turning
in 17 points and narrowly missing the school record for blocks in a single-game finishing with 6 swats in the
Lions 85-79 home win over HU. Crowder also turned in his second double-double of the season grabbing 10
rebounds to go along with his 17 points. In the Lions’ final game of the week, Crowder tallied 16 points and
hauled down six boards in a 75-63 win over Ouachita Baptist. In the Lions last second win over East Central,
he tallied a game-high 18 points and recorded four blocks as the Lions racked up 10 total blocks in the game.
Crowder narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds.
WOMEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Brandi Leal, Cameron University, scored a career high 26 points at Southwestern Oklahoma and broke the
Aggie record for three-pointers in a game with eight, besting the previous mark by one. Through the first seven
games she is averaging a league best four three-pointers and has climbed to second highest in the LSC in scoring
with 13.3 points per game. The eight three-pointers against the Bulldogs is tied for second most this season in
NCAA Division II. Leal shot 9-for-15 overall and 57.1% at the arc.
Erin Maxwell, Texas Woman’s University, led the team with 20.5 points per game, 8.0 rebounds per game
and four blocks while shooting 63.3 percent during the week to help the Pioneers to a 2-0 record and their fifth
and sixth straight wins. She recorded back-to-back career highs in points in both games. Maxwell scored then-
career-high 20 points and cleared nine rebounds in an overtime win at Arkansas-Fort Smith on Saturday and
then added a new career-high 21 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks against Wayland Baptist on Tuesday. With
the Pioneers leading by 2 points and less than 40 seconds to go in overtime against UAFS, Maxwell grabbed an
offensive rebound and sealed the win with a lay-up. On the season she is averaging 11.0 points, 7.7 rebounds
and 2.6 blocks while shooting 50.9 percent from the floor.
Morgan Ashmore, Tarleton State University, had a career night Monday against Oklahoma Baptist to lead the
TexAnns in a comeback win. The TexAnns, who trailed by nine at the break, got 11 of Ashmore’s 19 points in
the second half on 4-4 shooting from the floor, including all three of her three-pointers. For the game, Ashmore
was a perfect 7-7 from the floor, including 3-3 from downtown and 2-2 at the charity stripe. Her 19 points is
also a new career high, topping her previous best of 11 points against Incarnate Word in 2013. She also added
two rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
Kassandra Harris, Eastern New Mexico University, turned in an outstanding performance last week, with
13.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in games against Wayland Baptist and New Mexico State. Against the NCAA
Division I Aggies, she registered the first double double of her career, with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Harris
also had a 16-point, seven-rebound outing against WBU. For the week, she connected on 15 of her 19 free-
throw attempts.
Ikpeaku Iwobi, Tarleton State University, led Tarleton on the defensive glass with a team-high seven defensive
boards in Monday’s comeback win over Oklahoma Baptist. She totaled 6 points and nine total rebounds for the
game.
Alexis Nezianya, Texas Woman’s University, averaged 6.0 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 71.4
percent in the two wins last week. She cleared five of her 11 rebounds on the offensive end. Five of Alexis’
defensive rebounds also turned into 10 points on the offensive end. On the season she is averaging 4.7 points
and 4.2 rebounds while shooting a team-best 55.6 percent from the floor.
Sarah Stinnett, Eastern New Mexico University, was a key performer in a defensive effort which helped the
Greyhounds limit NCAA Division I New Mexico State to just 12 points in the first quarter. Over two games, she
had three steals and five defensive rebounds. Against Wayland Baptist, she had 10 points and 10 rebounds to
post ENMU’s first double double of the season.
Dayla Threatt, Cameron University, recorded a double-double performance against Southwestern Oklahoma
on Saturday with 19 points and 14 rebounds. The CU junior recorded nine defensive boards, with a pair of
steals, and a block. On the offensive side of the game, Threatt shot 8-for-17 on the floor and dished out three
assists. The double-double was a career first and the scoring/rebounding totals were also career marks.
Maddison Wild, West Texas A&M University, recorded her first double-double of her career with 10 points
and a career-best 11 rebounds in the Lady Buffs’ 63-49 win over Puerto Rico-Mayaguez Tuesday. For the week,
Wild went 5 of 10 from the field, pulling down 18 rebounds including 12 on the defensive end with three
assists, two blocks and three steals. She has started all nine games for the undefeated Lady Buffs.

Angelo State
The No. 5/6 Rams moved to 10-0 on the season with the 70-68 wins over Lubbock Christian and a 115-68
win over McMurry this week. ASU is now one win away from breaking the record for the best season start in
program history which was set in 2013. Angelo State’s high scoring offense continues to hold on to the No.
1 spot in the Lone Star Conference and the No. 5 nationally with 94.5 points per game. The teams scoring
margin, which is averaging a 21.5 differential per game, is also tops in the LSC and ranks No. 3 nationally. After
a 27-28 performance from the foul line against McMurry, ASU also leads the conference with a .778 free throw
percentage having sunk 228-293 this season. Finally, the Rams also currently lead the LSC in assists per game
averaging 18.1 and in steals averaging 9.4.

Midwestern State improved to 8-1 with a 91-60
win over Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas)
Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum...
Southwestern Assemblies of God is ranked 15th
in NAIA with a 9-3 overall record... The Mustangs
are off to their best start since winning the first 13
games of the 2011-12 season... It’s the 11th time in
program history that MSU has won at least eight of
its first nine game and the fourth time since the start
of the 2009-10 campaign... The Mustangs have won
their last four games by double-digit margins and six
of their eight wins this season have come by 10-or-
more points... MSU leads the Lone Star Conference
with a team field goal percentage of 50.7 and is
the top field goal percentage defense at 37.8... The
Mustangs rank fourth in NCAA Division II and top the
LSC in rebounding margin at +12.8... MSU blocked
eight shots against Southwestern Assemblies of God
and rank third nationally with 6.4 blocked shots per
game... Senior guard Bretson McNeal paced the
Mustangs in scoring for the fourth straight game
scoring 19 points with three 3-pointers to up his
season scoring average to 14.1 points per game...
Senior forward Khapri Alston went 7-for-8 from the
floor to match a season high with 17 points while
pulling down eight rebounds in 17 minutes of court
action against Southwestern Assemblies of God...
Alston has scored in double figures in all nine games
for MSU this season... Junior forward Trevor Fuller set
season highs with nine points, nine rebounds and four
assists Saturday against Southwestern Assemblies of
God... Fuller also recorded two blocked shots and has
multiple blocks in eight of nine games this season...
Senior guard Hershell Grant dealt out a season-high
five assists against SAGU... Junior guard Pat Smith
netted a career-high eight points while dishing out
a campaign-best five assists in 20 minutes against
Southwestern Assemblies of God... Junior forward
Matt Pollard scored a season-high eight points and
grabbed five rebounds with four blocked shots in nine
minutes Saturday against Southwestern Assemblies
of God...
Tarleton State
No. 7 Tarleton improved to 8-1 with a 74-58 win over
Texas-Permian Basin on Monday. It was the fourth
straight win for the Texans, as they improved to 6-0
all-time against UTPB. Tarleton’s swarming defense
limited the Falcons to 33 percent shooting a season-
low in points after coming in averaging 97.8 points
per game. The Texans will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada
on Dec. 18-19 for a pair of games against No. 16
Rollins and Drury.
Texas A&M-Commerce
A&M-Commerce enters the week at 7-2 overall
following a 75-63 win over Ouachita Baptist and a
last second win over East Central thanks to a Jeremy
Jones buzzer beater. The Lions have won four straight
games including three straight during their current
four-game home stand. In the Lions 85-79 home
win over the Harding, Bryant collected the Lions fifth
double-double and his second of the season with
17 points and 10 rebounds. He narrowly missed the
school’s single-game record for blocks with six.
Texas A&M-Kingsville

West Texas A&M
The Buffs went 2-1 this past week as they picked up
home wins over Mid-America Christian and NAIA #12
Wayland Baptist before falling to UPR-Rio Piedras in
their first of three games in San Juan, Puerto Rico
this week. The Buffs are currently 8-4 overall. The
Buffs continue their trip on Thursday afternoon as
they take on the Cowboys of Puerto Rico-Bayamon
with tipoff set for 5 p.m. CT on the Bayamon campus.
WT will wrap-up their trip on Friday morning as they
take on UPR-Humacao at 11 a.m. CT before taking
the mandatory NCAA holiday break before starting
Lone Star Conference play on New Year’s Eve against
the Cameron Aggies (4 p.m.) at the First United Bank
Center in Canyon.

to 62.1 ... The 23.4 scoring margin is currently tops in
the LSC and No. 7 in Division II ... Taylor Dorsey leads
the LSC with 20.3 points per game and added a career
high 36 against St. Mary’s ... Brea Michell leads the
conference with a 2.4 assist to turnover ratio ... The
Belles will play UTPB on Thursday and host Wayland
Baptist on Saturday.

Eastern New Mexico
After seeing the three-game win streak snapped
against Wayland Baptist, the Greyhounds responded
with a strong performance against NCAA Division
I New Mexico State. Behind seven first-quarter
points from Sarah Stinnett, the Hounds held a 14-12
lead, 10 minutes into the game against the Aggies.
Eastern trailed NMSU by a single point, late in the
third quarter, before a late run lifted the Aggies to
a 15-point win. On Saturday, Wayland Baptist used
a quick start to snap Eastern’s win streak, despite a
rally which closed the gap to just two points. Over the
week, the Hounds received its first double doubles
of the season. Sarah Stinnett had 10 points and 10
boards against Wayland Baptist, while Kassandra
Harris had 11 points and 12 rebounds against New
Mexico State. This weekend, the Hounds will play
Seattle Pacific and Concordia.
Midwestern State

Tarleton State
Tarleton overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to
defeat Oklahoma Baptist Monday night, led by a
career-high 19 points from Morgan Ashmore on a 7-7
shooting performance from the floor. Tarleton will
travel to Las Vegas this weekend.

Texas Woman’s
The Pioneers improved to 8-2 on the season with
their fifth and sixth straight wins last week. TWU
captured an overtime win at Arkansas-Fort Smith,
92-87, on Saturday and then defeated Wayland
Baptist, 61-41, on Tuesday. Junior Kenesha Saygo led
the game in scoring while junior Erin Maxwell and
freshman Kara Mitchell recorded career highs against
UAFS. Saygo led all players with 24 points on 6-for-
15 shooting and tied the single-game school record
with 5-for-5 shooting from the three-point range.
Maxwell scored a career-high 20 points and cleared
a team-high nine rebounds while Mitchell tied her
career-high with 17 points. Maxwell then posted a
new career-high with 21 points in the win against
WBU. She led the Pioneers with 20.5 ppg, 8.0 rpg and
4 blocks while shooting 63.3 percent from the floor
during the week. On the season Maxwell is also the
team leader in points (11.9 ppg), rebounds (7.7 rpg)
and blocks (26). Saygo is averaging 9.7 points while
Mitchell has 9.5 points per game, and a team-best 18
assists and 18 steals.
West Texas A&M
The Lady Buffs improved to 9-0 on the year with a
63-49 victory over Puerto Rico-Mayaguez and 78-48
win over UT-Permian Basin on Saturday...The Lady
Buffs held UTPB to 35.8 percent shooting as it was
the eighth-straight game of holding the opposition
under 40 percent shooting and the 48 points was the
seventh time holding the opponent under 60 points
and fourth under 50 points...Senior Zantaya Davis had
a team-high nine rebounds and scored nine points
in the game, while sophomore Hannah Alexander
added 11 points off the bench along with 12 points
off the bench from senior Madison McLain. Junior
Sasha Watson had 12 points with three assists and
two steals going 5 of 6 from the field...WT dominated
points in the paint, outscoring UTPB 32-8 and 33-11
off 25 Falcon miscues...WT went to the line 22 times,
making 15, while UTPB was 4 of 4...The Lady Buffs
moved up to No. 2 in the USA Today Poll this week
and No. 3 in the SIDA Poll...WT was tied for first in the
third-straight SIDA South Central Region Top 10...WT
faces Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras on Wednesday.
LSC, CITY OF FRISCO TO HOST 2016
MEN’S BASKETBALL ELITE EIGHT
The NCAA awarded the 2016 Division II Men’s
Basketball Elite Eight to the city of Frisco, Texas.
The Lone Star Conference and Frisco Convention &
Visitors Bureau will host the event March 23-24-26.
The Elite Eight will take place in the state of Texas
for the first time ever at Dr Pepper Arena, a multi-
purpose sports and entertainment venue that seats
about 5,000 for basketball.
