LSC BASKETBALL
Angelo State remained perfect in Lone Star Conference play at 9-0 and extended its program-record winning
streak to 16 games with a pair of victories last week.
West Texas A&M leads the women’s standings with a 9-1 LSC mark, with Midwestern State and Cameron just
behind them at 9-2. The Lady Buffs face the Mustangs and Aggies this week.
This week’s schedule includes seven LSC contests for the men, and 10 on the women’s side.
The LSC men have a 113-63 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s
teams are currently 13-6 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 8-7 against the Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference.
The LSC women are 97-86 overall. The women’s squads are currently 13-17 combined against the Heartland,
and 6-3 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.
The LSC champion will be the regular season winner determined by league games, while the postseason
tournament winner is designated as LSC Tournament Champion and earns the conference’s automatic
qualification. The top eight teams in the final conference standings qualify for the postseason tournament set
for March 4-7 in Allen, Texas.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
MEN’S OFFENSIVE
Demario Mayfield, Angelo State University, SR, Forward, Royston, Ga., Franklin County HS
Mayfield finished last week averaging 21 points, 10 rebounds and six assists per game in a pair of Lone Star
Conference wins over West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico. Mayfield opened the week by scoring 20
points, securing 13 rebounds and having six assists in his ninth double-double of the year in the win over WT.
He followed that effort with 22 points and six assists on the road in ASU’s 20-point win at ENMU. Mayfield shot
14 of 20 (70.6 percent) for the week, including hitting two 3-pointers. He leads the Rams this season with 16.5
points and 8.0 rebounds per game and also has 93 assists.
MEN’S DEFENSIVE
Damion Clemons, Tarleton State University, SR, Forward, Dallas, Texas, Conrad HS
Clemons gave the Tarleton defense an incredible spark off the bench last week as the senior lifted Tarleton
to a pair of wins over No. 23 Midwestern State and Cameron last week. Clemons led the Texans with 13 total
rebounds for an average of 6.5 boards per game as well as a team-high five blocked shots to help hold MSU and
CU below their scoring average.
WOMEN’S OFFENSIVE
Jazzmine Robinson, Cameron University, SR, Guard, Las Vegas, Nev., Majave HS
Robinson averaged 18.7 points in three games as the Aggies went 3-0 last week with wins against Texas A&M-
Commerce, Texas Woman’s, and Tarleton State. Robinson shot 48.9 from the field, averaged six rebounds,
and had 3.3 steals a game in the victories. Against A&M-Commerce she put up 22 points, went 11-12 at the
stripe, along with the go-ahead points; she would be a rebound short of a double-double in the 75-69 win.
On Thursday against TWU she had her tenth 20 point game of the season with a team high 20 points off of
50 percent shooting from the field, and a career high six steals. While at Tarleton State, due to foul trouble
Robinson was limited to a season low 20 minutes but managed to net 14 points with 75-percent shooting for
her 16th double-digit game of the season.
WOMEN’S DEFENSIVE
Andrea Carter, Midwestern State University, SR, Forward, Angleton, Texas, Angleton HS
Carter notched her ninth double-double of the season as Midwestern State extended its winning streak to
five games with Lone Star Conference victories over Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce. The 5-9 senior
from Angleton notched 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds while recording two steals in a 72-57 win
Wednesday over Tarleton State. Carter then delivered an all-around 14-point, 5-rebound, 4-assist and 3-steal
performance in an 87-69 win Saturday at Texas A&M-Commerce.
MEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Mo Lee, Tarleton State University, continued his torrid offensive pace last week, leading No. 12 Tarleton
State to a pair of wins over No. 23 Midwestern State and Cameron last week. The senior averaged 20.0 points
per game in the Texan wins last week with a 16-point, six-rebound effort against Midwestern State at D.L. Ligon
Coliseum on Wednesday and 24 points on Saturday, which matched his career high that he set last Saturday.
For the week, Lee shot an efficient 8-14 from the floor for a .571 percentage, including 3-5 from beyond the arc,
and 21-22 from the free throw line for a .955 percentage at the charity stripe. He also added 11 rebounds, three
assists, a block and a steal to go along with 40 total points for the week. In addition to the overall performance,
Lee also stepped up in the clutch for Tarleton. He scored 11 total points in the last five minutes of the last two
games and went 9-10 from the free throw line down that stretch to ice the victories for the Texans.
John Gilliam, Eastern New Mexico University, turned in a strong week for the Greyhounds, with a team-
leading 19.5 points per game average, .455 shooting percentage from three-point range, 14 rebounds and five
assists. He poured in 25 points at Texas A&M-Kingsville and hit nine-of-10 free throws, to reach the 20-point
mark for the eighth time this season. Gilliam followed with 14 points against sixth-ranked Angelo State and

Tez Dumars, West Texas A&M University, had a big week for the Buffs, averaging a team-high 19.0 PPG in
two LSC contests. On Saturday in a thrilling 74-68 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville at home, Dumars was honored
prior to the game for becoming the 18th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. The ceremony
sparked Dumars to a 25-point performance, 18 of which came in the second half, off of 7-for-10 shooting from
the field as he climbed to ninth place on the WT all-time scoring list, now with 1,148 points. He will likely bump
himself up to eighth place, as he just needs five points to do so on Wednesday against Midwestern State.
Christian Macauley, Texas A&M University - Commerce, poured in his second 20-point game of the season
with 20 points in the Lions 76-71 road win at Cameron. He was also a force on the boards with 10 rebounds for
a double-double, his second of the season. He was 7-of-12 from the floor in the game from the floor. Macauley
followed up with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting against Midwestern State. During the week, Macauley protected
the rim accounting for five blocks, two at Cameron and three against Midwestern. Macauley, who entered the
week averaging 9.2 points per game, averaged 17.0 ppg during the two games to raise his season average to
10.2 ppg. His 57.1 shooting percentage during the week was almost 30 percentage points higher than he had
entering the week.

Antjuan Ball, West Texas A&M University, was a big defensive presence for WT in two close league games
last week. He put up 14 points with a block and two steals in a narrow loss to #7 Angelo State on the road
Wednesday. Then on Saturday, he propelled the Buffs to a thrilling 74-68 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville as
he recorded his 12th career double-double, and fourth of the season, with 10 points and 12 boards, nine being
on the defensive glass. He would put on a show in the final two minutes of the game with three dunks to secure
the six-point victory.
Chris Wyms, Eastern New Mexico University, led a Greyhound defensive effort with four steals and a pair of
blocked shots. Eastern limited the Rams to just 69 points on Saturday, their second lowest total of the season.
WOMEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Sarah Stinnett, Eastern New Mexico University, turned in a strong week for the Zias, which saw Eastern
register a 2-0 record in Lone Star Conference play. In Saturday’s win against Angelo State, she challenged the
program’s scoring record with 37 points and added 10 rebounds for the first double double of her career.
Stinnett scored 30 of the team’s first 60 points in the contest and continually thwarted Rambelle rallies as
Eastern rallied from a 10-point deficit in the second half. She also registered a six-point performance at Texas
A&M-Kingsville along with five assists and a steal. Over the two games, Stinnett converted on .522 of her field
goal attempts.
KeAnna Kelly, Angelo State University, averaged 20.5 points per game over two games against West Texas
A&M and ENMU. The freshman scored a career-high 24 points against No. 6 West Texas A&M and 17 points
against ENMU. The Arlington native has scored in double figures in three-straight games and four total this
season.
Kathy Thomas, Tarleton State University, despite back-to-back losses last week, it wasn’t from a lack of
effort. The senior lit up the offensive end of the court with 18.5 points per game against Midwestern State and
Cameron. She was 10-21 from the floor, including 6-11 from downtown, and 11-13 at the free throw line for 37
total points for the week. Against Cameron, she posted a career-high 26 points including 11 points in the final
2:27 to nearly and single-handedly pull off the comeback against the Aggies.
Chontiquah White, West Texas A&M University, averaged a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds
in a pair of wins extending the Lady Buff winning streak to nine games tying their season-high. Went 12 of
24 from the field and 11 of 13 from the line (.846) and buried one triple in four attempts. She averaged 11
rebounds for the week, including pulling down nine on the offensive end to lead the team. White had one block
and three steals for the week as well. She recorded her team-leading seventh double-double of the year with
16 points and 13 rebounds at Angelo State on Wednesday and had 20 points and nine rebounds on Saturday
versus Texas A&M-Kingsville. It was her eighth 20 or more game of the season.
Lisa Hampton, Midwestern State University, became Midwestern State’s all-time leader in 3-point makes
burying her 133rd career triple Wednesday night on a third three in a win over Tarleton State. The senior from
Kennedale didn’t stop there as she poured in four more Saturday night at Texas A&M-Commerce to lead 12-trey
barrage for the Mustangs. It was MSU’s most 3s in a game in 11 years as Hampton finished with a team-high 17
points in an 18-point win over the Lions. For the week, she connected on seven triples to average 14 points per
game as the Mustangs extended their winning streak to five games.
Brittany Gutierrez, Eastern New Mexico University, led a strong defensive effort by the Zias, which limited
the opposition to just 61 points per game on .355 shooting from the floor. That effort led to ENMU snapping a
four-game skid and winning a pair of critical Lone Star Conference games. At Texas A&M-Kingsville, she poured
in 10 points, pulled down seven rebounds, rejected five shots and had a steal.
Sasha Watson, West Texas A&M University, added to her league-best in steals with five thefts this week in a
pair of wins over Angelo State and Texas A&M-Kingsville running the Lady Buff winning streak to nine games.
Watson went 7 of 12 from the field (.583) and 4 of 6 from the line, while dishing out two assists and scoring
18 points. Watson and the Lady Buff “D” held ASU and TAMUK to shoot just .373 from the field and .190 from
beyond the arc. WT out-rebounded the teams by an average of 43-28 and outscored them 74 to 53.5. Watson
leads the league in steals at 2.8 per game and has 56 for the year.
Ikpeaku Iwobi, Tarleton State University, led Tarleton State on the boards last week with 17 in two games
against Midwestern State and Cameron. She averaged 8.5 boards per game for the week and added a steal.

Angelo State
The Rams extended their program-record winning
streak to 16 games after earning a 77-68 home
win over West Texas A&M on Wednesday before
travelling to Eastern New Mexico where they picked
up a 69-49 win on Saturday. ASU is 9-0 in LSC play
with eight of those wins coming by double-digit point
margins. The Rams lead the nation with a 54.5 field-
goal percentage and a 26.4 scoring margin advantage
and came into last week in the top-5 nationally by
limiting opponents to 37.8 percent shooting. ASU
held WT and ENMU under 40 percent shooting and
is now 14-0 on its home court and 7-1 away from San
Angelo. The Rams will take their show on the road
this week with a Wednesday night game against
Tarleton State in Stephenville.

Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball
team received a strong performance from John
Gilliam, with 19.5 points and seven rebounds per
game. Those games included a tough road trip to
Texas A&M-Kingsville and a home contest against
sixth-ranked Angelo State. Against the Rams, ENMU
trailed by just six points at half and held ASU to its
second-lowest scoring total of the season. This week,
the Hounds will host Cameron and make a trip to
Midwestern State.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State split a pair of Lone Star Conference
games falling to Tarleton State Wednesday at home
before rebounding for a road win at Texas A&M-
Commerce... The home loss to Tarleton State marks
the first time MSU lost two consecutive games on its
home floor since falling to Tarleton State (62-54) and
TexasA&M-Kingsville(82-72)onJan.16and19,2008...
The Mustangs shot a season worst 26.7 percent from
the free throw line Wednesday night against Tarleton
State after connecting on 34-of-45 (75.6 percent) over
its previous two games... Midwestern improved to
2-0 in overtime games taking an 85-83 win Saturday
at Texas A&M-Commerce. The Mustangs also claimed
a 90-83 double-overtime victory over Lynn (Fla.) on
Dec. 15, 2014... MSU has committed 20-or-more fouls
in each of it last six games surrendering an average of
29.3 opponent free throw attempts per game... The
Mustangs continue to rank amongst national leaders
in numerous categories as MSU is fourth in NCAA
Division II in field goal percentage defense (38.4),

Blackburn erupted for a season-high 21 points and

Tarleton State... Senior guard Derrell Gibbs knocked
down three 3-pointers while shooting 5-of-8 from the
field to finish with 16 points Saturday at Texas A&M-
Commerce. It was his sixth double-digit scoring effort
of the season... Senior guard Kevin Wagner scored a
season-high 13 points going 7-for-8 from the charity
stripe while grabbing a campaign-best eight rebounds
Saturday at Texas A&M-Commerce... Junior forward
Khapri Alston averaged 9.5 points and 7.0 rebounds
last week against Tarleton State and Texas A&M-

Tarleton State
Tarleton State notched its 16th 20-win season under
head coach Lonn Reisman, including the seventh
straight 20-win campaign after knocking off No. 23
Midwestern State in Wichita Falls and Cameron in
Stephenville. Mo Lee led the way for Tarleton State
while Damion Clemons gave the Texans strong
defensive efforts off the bench. Tarleton’s win over
Midwestern State marked the first time in school
history the Texans defeated back-to-back nationally
ranked teams on the road. Tarleton and Angelo State
will meet in Stephenville Wednesday night at 7:30
p.m.
Texas A&M-Commerce
1-1 last week.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M-Kingsville went 1-1 last week, defeating
Eastern New Mexico, 83-52, in the SPEC. The Javelinas
went on a 16-0 run in the first half in the dominating
performance versus the Greyhounds. However,
despite leading late in the second half, TAMUK fell to
West Texas A&M on Saturday, 74-68. The Hogs were
shorthanded with only eight healthy players dressing.
Texas A&M-Kingsville heads to A&M-Commerce on
Thursday before returning home to host Tarleton
State on Valentine’s Day.
West Texas A&M
The West Texas A&M men’s basketball team had
strong showings in both league games this past
week. On Wednesday, the Buffs hung with #7 Angelo
State on the road until the final three minutes of the
contest, falling by a close 77-68 score. WT rebounded
strong at home in a 74-68 win over Texas A&M-
Kingsville on Saturday. Prior to the game, senior Tez
Dumars was honored with a commemorative ball for
becoming just the 18th player in program history to
eclipse 1,000 career-points. Dumars would go on a
tear for 25 points that night as he moved into sole
possession of ninth place on school’s all-time career
scoring list, now with 1,148 points. Senior Antjuan
Ball would also tally his fourth double-double of the
season, and 12th of his career, in the win. WT will
return to action as it hosts #23 Midwestern State on
Wednesday at the FUBC in Canyon.

Cameron
For the second time this season, the Aggies took
three games in four days with wins against A&M-
Commerce, Texas Woman’s, and Tarleton State. With
the three wins the Aggies have clinched themselves
a spot in the Lone Star Conference Championship
tournament and a winning league record for the
second time since 2004. After starting the season
1-6, Cameron has turned into the Cinderella program
with 11 wins in their last 13 contests, and they are
sitting a half game back of West Texas A&M for first
place in the LSC. Cameron has been led by senior
guard Jazzmine Robinson who leading the LSC with
18.3 points a game and she is fourth in rebounding
with eight a contest. Brandi Leal is nearing a program
record for three-pointers a season and presently sits
on 70 and needs three more to break Chelsea Stamp’s
one year record of 72. Another streak for the Aggies
is five wins in a row against Tarleton State, which are
all regular season contests. With 12 wins for the
season, Cameron needs one more to match their win
total from last year with the toughest schedule in the
LSC and 30th most difficult in the nation according
to NCAA statistics. Cameron will have two contests
this week with a visit to Eastern New Mexico on
Wednesday and a showdown with West Texas A&M
on Saturday in Lawton.
Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico University women’s
basketball team saw things come together last week.
The squad traveled over 1,000 miles round trip to
open the week and came away with a hard-fought
win over Texas A&M-Kingsville to snap a four-game
skid and sweep the season series. On Saturday, the
Zias rallied from a double-digit deficit against Angelo
State for the second time this season, to sweep the
Rambelles as well. Sarah Stinnett poured in 37 points
against ASU, coming within three points of the Zia
scoring record. She scored 30 of Eastern’s first 60
points in the game, which thwarted numerous Angelo
State runs throughout the contest. This week, Eastern
will host Cameron on Wednesday, before a trip to
Midwestern State.

Midwestern State extended its winning streak to
five games with Lone Star Conference victories over
Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce... The
Mustangs are off to the best start in school history
through 21 games at 18-3... MSU is unbeaten when
it scores 60-or-more points this season... Thirteen
of the Mustangs’ 18 wins this season have been
by 10-or-more points... MSU connected on 12
3-pointers Saturday at Texas A&M-Commerce which
are the most since hitting 13 against Cameron
on Jan. 15, 2004 and tied for the third most in a
single game in program history... Seven different
Mustangs connected on 3-pointers against Texas
A&M-Commerce as MSU hit 12-of-23 from the arc
(.522)... The Mustangs assisted on 21 of 28 made
field goals Saturday at Texas A&M-Commerce which
was the most since MSU recorded 22 assists against
Oklahoma Panhandle State earlier this season...
Senior guard Janae McJunkins averaged 5 points and
4.5 assists while turning the ball over one time in 42
minutes in MSU’s two wins last week... Senior guard
Lisa Hampton became MSU’s all-time leader in made
3-pointers last week against Tarleton State then piled
on four more against Texas A&M-Commerce. She
now has 137 career made 3-pointers... Hampton
averaged 14 points and connected for seven triples in
wins over Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce
last week... Junior guard Kathryn Odom splashed in

a season-high 10 points including a pair of 3-pointers
Saturday against Texas A&M-Commerce... Odom has
scored 15 of her 16 points this season in her last three
outings... Senior forward Andrea Carter notched her
ninth double-double of the season Wednesday night
against Tarleton State... Carter sports averages of
14.9 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.1 steals a game over
her last 10 outings while shooting 54.5 percent from
the field... With 1,365 career points, Carter needs 32
points to pass Lounette Adkins (1,395 points 1978-79,
80-81, 93-95) and Kirsti Degelia (1,396 from 2010-14)
to move into sixth place on MSU’s all-time scoring
list... Sophomore forward Jennifer Sissel erupted
for a season-high six points -- all in the first half --
Wednesday against Tarleton State... Senior forward
Taylor Dowd scored 12 points in 12 minutes Saturday
against Texas A&M-Commerce. It was her third
double-figure scoring performance of the season...
Senior guard Shatoia Gober scored eight points and
matched a season-high with seven assists Wednesday
against Tarleton State... Gober shot 6-for-7 from
the floor to finish with 13 points and six rebounds
Saturday at Texas A&M-Commerce... Senior forward
Shambreka Jones blocked four shots last week and
now has 44 blocked shots this season which as
the fifth most in program history behind Rulinda
Vogtsberger (56 blocks/1979-80), Monica Miller (49
blocks/1994-95), Dorcas Perkins (46 blocks/2003-04)
and Jel-Ani Armstrong (46 blocks/2003-04)... Senior
guard Dianna Jones failed to score in double figures
for the first time since the season opener Saturday
at Texas A&M-Commerce, but did dish out seven
assists... Jones needs three assists to move past Lisa
Meurer (339 assists from 1977-81) into fourth place
on the program’s all-time assists list...
Tarleton State
Tarleton State dropped both games last week to
Midwestern State and Cameron. The TexAnns will
host Angelo State at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday night in
Wisdom Gym.
Texas A&M-Commerce
0-2 last week.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M-Kingsville dropped to 0-20 and 0-10 in
the LSC with two losses this week to Eastern New
Mexico and West Texas A&M. The Javelinas have
the third longest losing streak in Division II behind
Salem International (36 games) and San Francisco
State (24 games). TAMUK lost 57-53 at home to
the Zias and fell 81-57 on the road against the Lady
Buffs. Micah Weaver lead the team with 16.0 ppg
and 50.0 field goal percentage. Lauren Jay grabbed
7.0 rpg. Demmee Rodriguez came off the bench at
WT to record a career game with six points and four
steals. This week the Blue and Gold travel to face
Texas Woman’s on Wednesday and then Texas A&M-
Commerce Thursday night. Javelinas close the week
by hosting Tarleton State on Valentine’s Day.
Texas Woman’s
The TWU basketball team is 12-10 on the season and
5-6 in the Lone Star Conference. The Pioneers played
just one game and suffered a 67-65 loss at Cameron.
TWU made a furious rally in the final minutes to
erase a 13-point deficit, but ultimately fell short by
two points. Trailing 65-52 with 4:30 left in the game,
the Pioneers went on a 13-1 run in a span of four
minutes and had a chance to take the lead with three
seconds left but missed the go ahead lay-up. Senior
Toree Mason came off the Pioneers bench and scored
a team-best 14 points on 5-for-10 shooting including
4-for-6 from the three-point range. Sophomore
Emily Spector added 13 points while sophomore
Erin Maxwell chipped in nine for TWU. Sophomore
Deja Pointer also added eight points for the Pioneers.
On the season Spector is the team leader in points
(11.8 ppg) and rebounds (6.3 rpg) while sophomore
Kenesha Saygo is second in scoring with 10.8 points
per game. Maxwell has a team-best 39 blocks and
second in rebounding (6.0 rpg). Saygo has handed
out 55 assists to lead the Pioneers while senior Ashley
Salazar has 49 steals.
West Texas A&M
The West Texas A&M women’s basketball team ran
its winning streak to nine games matching its season-
best winning streak with wins at Angelo State and at
home against Texas A&M-Kingsville...The Lady Buffs
averaged 74 points for the week and allowed just
53.5 as WT held its second and third consecutive
opponents to under 60 points...WT shot .445 for
the week and .805 from the line, while pulling down
an average of 43 rebounds per game...The defense
held the opponents to .373 shooting and .190 from
beyond the arc, while allowing just 28 rebounds per
game...WT forced 40 turnovers for the week and
had 24 steals, while dishing out 34 assists...Senior
Chontiquah White tallied her seventh double-double
of the season with 16 point and 13 rebounds at Angelo
State and just missed her eighth double-double
with 20 points and nine rebounds against TAMUK...
WT head coach Mark Kellogg won his 50th game at
the helm of the program on Saturday becoming the
fastest coach in school history to 50 wins (50-5)...
Former head coach Krista Gerlich needed 59 games
to hit 50 wins...WT’s nine game winning streak
matches their season-best and ironically the next
opponent for the Lady Buffs each time is Midwestern
State...MSU downed WT snapping the first nine game
winning streak on Jan. 7 in Wichita Falls...WT hosts
the Mustangs Wednesday in the First United Bank
Center...Junior Zantaya Davis scored a career-high 13
points Saturday against TAMUK...She was 5 of 7 from
the field and 3 of 4 from the line coming off the bench
in 14 minutes of action.
