standings. Each four-game series shall consist of a 9-inning game Friday, a 7x7 doubleheader Saturday and
9-inning contest Sunday.
LSC baseball teams are 67-11 overall this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the teams are currently
21-5 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 6-3 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Hunter Perkins, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, SR, Utility, Victoria, Texas, Victoria East
Perkins went 8-for-10 in the doubleheader sweep over Texas A&M International... he began the DH going 3-for-
5 with three runs scored and three RBI... in the 14-2 victory, Perkins blasted a solo shot - his first homer of the
season - and added a double... in game two, Perkins went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs scored and reached
base safely six times... Perkins also played right field in game two and did not strike out in 11 plate appearances.
PITCHER
Marshall Kasowski, West Texas A&M University, JR, RHP, Conroe, Texas, Oak Ridge HS
Kasowski set a career-high with 16 strikeouts in a 3-2 loss to No. 6 Lubbock Christian last Tuesday evening.
Kasowski came within one strikeout of tying the school individual record of 17 set last season by former Buff
Brooks Trujillo. Kasowski fanned the first 10 LCU batters of the game, but two costly errors hurt the Buffs in the
end leading to two unearned runs for the 3-2 margin. The 16 Ks are the most in the LSC this season and rank
third in NCAA Division II.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Jacob Boston, Angelo State University, was a force at the plate in the Rams’ only game, getting on base in
four of his five plate appearances and driving in two runs. Boston had two hits including one double, walked
twice and scored three times in ASU’s 18-6 beatdown of St. Mary’s.
Jose Reyes, Tarleton State University, hit .625 for the Texans in a three-game sweep of Arkansas-Fort Smith
last weekend. The senior shortstop was 5-for-8 at the dish with an RBI that put the Texans on top in the final
game of the series. He also stole two bases and boasted a 1.000 fielding percentage at second base.
Joe Hauser, Angelo State University, went three innings in relief in the Rams’ one win on the week, once
again not giving up a run on the season. His stellar performance earned him his fourth save of the year through
just 10 games, and he continued his scoreless streak that is now at 13 innings.
Nathan Hickey, Tarleton State University, was spectacular for Tarleton as the junior from Granbury tossed the
first six innings of a shutout victory over Arkansas-Fort Smith in the series opener in Stephenville Friday. Hickey
struck out a career high eight in his start and allowed just three hits over six innings. The shutout marked the
first time in the modern era of Tarleton baseball that a Texan pitching staff has had three shutout victories in
the first 10 games of the season, two of which were started by Hickey.
