1. LSC BASEBALL
West Texas A&M tops the Lone Star Conference standings after three weeks of league action at 7-1.
This week’s league series include WT at Cameron, Eastern New Mexico at Texas A&M-Kingsville, and UT
Permian Basin at Tarleton State. Due to the Easter holiday, the games will be played on Thursday, Friday and
Saturday.
LSC teams are playing a 10-week schedule with a four-game series against every other team during weeks
8-14 determining the LSC Champion. Conference series scheduled weeks 5-7 will not count toward the league
standings. Each four-game series shall consist of a 9-inning game Friday, a 7x7 doubleheader Saturday and
9-inning contest Sunday.
LSC baseball teams are 149-92 overall this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the teams are currently
29-13 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 7-4 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Tyler Coolbaugh, Angelo State University, SR, INF, Colleyville, Texas, Grapevine HS
Coolbaugh had another strong week at the plate for the Rams, collecting 11 total bases to lead the team and
racking up three RBI in the process. The senior had six hits, including a triple and a homer, as well as a pair of
walks on the weekend. Coolbaugh got on base more than half of the times he came to the plate in the four
games against Texas A&M-Kingsville, and the infielder has now reached base in all 29 games he has played in
this season.
PITCHER
Marshall Kasowski, West Texas A&M University, JR, RHP, Conroe, Texas, Oak Ridge HS
Kasowski continued his dominating season as he fanned 15 in a complete game in the opener against Arkansas-
Fort Smith Friday. The junior allowed just two hits, one earned run, walked one and the 15 K’s. He held the
Lions to just .091 hitting for the game. It was his third complete game of the season and he now has a LSC-best
111 strikeouts on the season. Kasowski entered the week leading the nation in strikeouts as the 15 K’s marked
the seventh game this season of double-digit strikeouts and third-straight start.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Jake Hasbrouck, Tarleton State University, hit .500 over four games with one home run and three RBI.
Nick Canas, West Texas A&M University, paced the Buffs hitting .500 in four starts in the outfield this
week. He went 7 of 14 from the dish with four runs scored to lead the team, along with two doubles and two
RBI. Canas slugged a team-best .643 and reached base at a .588 clip, with three walks and no errors in eight
chances. Canas has hit safely in the last six games tying for the longest current active streak on the team and
has reached base in 30-straight games for the most on the team.
Mike McNicholl, Eastern New Mexico University, led the Greyhounds at the dish this past weekend, helping
ENMU to a series win over Tarleton State. The outfielder hit at a .500 clip with a double and a home run to go
along with three RBI. In the series-finale with the Texans, he scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the
eighth.
Levi Zents, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, extended his hitting streak to 11 games and reached base safely
streak to 13 before the series finale at No. 3 Angelo State... the Javelinas split the series 2-2 with the Rams and
the third baseman went 6-of-14 with a double and two runs scored.
Shane Browning, Angelo State University, finally earned a decision in his ninth appearance of the season
for the Rams, earning a 9-4 win on Sunday over Texas A&M-Kingsville. Browning came on in relief, his first
non-start of the season, in the second inning of the series finale. The Lubbock native proceeded to shut down
the Javelinas for the next five innings, pitching the longest outing of his career so far. Browing also set a new
single-game career high in strikeouts in the game, getting eight Javelina batters out on his own in the matchup.
Javarias Banks, Cameron University, was dominant out of the bullpen for CU in the 3-1 series win over UT
Permian Basin. In game three of the series, he faced one batter and struck him out on just five pitches. The real
feat was when Banks came in to pitch in the fifth inning of game four, finishing off the Falcons by throwing
4.1 perfect innings to secure the win. He also struck out nine of the 13 batters he faced and did it all on just 50
pitches. Banks is now 4-2 this season with 30 strikeouts in just 23.2 innings pitched.
Austin Paisar, Eastern New Mexico University, tossed a complete game in the Greyhounds game two win
over Tarleton State on Saturday, scattering four hits and five walks for just one run.
Seth Hubert, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, pitched out of trouble in the series opener at No. 3 Angelo
State, overcoming five base on balls with five punchouts to pace the Hogs to a victory over the Rams... the
right-hander allowed just three hits in the win.
Nathan Hickey, Tarleton State University, threw a career high eight innings to deliver Tarleton’s win against
Eastern New Mexico. The junior right-hander allowed two runs on eight hits and struck out four in a 9-2 victory
in Portales Friday.

Cameron
The CU baseball team won three out of four at UT Permian Basin this weekend, winning game one 13-3, game
two 7-4, and game four 7-2. Ryan Banwart had a big day in game one, going 3-4 with four RBI and two runs
scored. In game two, Bronson Pulgados drove in three of CU’s seven runs, while Cody Knight drove in two RBI
in game four.
Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico baseball team went 3-1 this past weekend against Tarleton State, winning the final
three games to secure a series win. The Greyhounds rallied from an 8-6 deficit in the eighth inning on Sunday
to wrap up the series. Mike McNicholl and Jesus Villalobos paced the offense by hitting above .400 while Austin
Paisar tossed a complete game in Saturday’s opener.
Tarleton State
Tarleton lost three of four at Eastern New Mexico. The Texans will return home for four games against UT
Permian Basin, beginning Thursday at 3 p.m.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
The Javelinas split with the No. 3 ranked Rams in San Angelo... the Hogs took the series opener and the second
game Saturday... Levi Zents hit .429 and Pablo Hernandez drove in five... on the hill, Seth Hubert allowed just
three hits in 5.1 innings.
UT Permian Basin
1-3 last week.
West Texas A&M
The No. 3-ranked Buffs really struggled this week going 1-3 for the their first under .500 weekend of the
season, dropping a 2-1 heartbreaker at Lubbock Christian and then losing a three-game series at home
against Arkansas-Fort Smith...WT won the opener against UAFS behind 15 strikeouts and another dominating
performance from junior starter Marshall Kasowski, but difficulties on the mound and leaving runners stranded
proved costly for the Buffs in the final two games of the series...WT left 26 on base in the series against UAFS,
while the Lions stranded 15...The Buffs hit .333 for the series and held UAFS to .239 from the plate...Four Buffs
had over 10 ERAs out of the bullpen, while starter Joshua Payne had a 8.44 ERA in 5.1 innings, allowing five
earned runs with one walk and nine strikeouts...Two of the four games were decided by one run this week as
LCU tallied a go ahead run in the bottom of the eighth after WT tied it in the top of the frame for a 2-1 score and
UAFS won game two of the series 5-4...The Buffs return to conference play this week as they travel to Cameron
beginning Thursday in Lawton, Okla.
