8-3 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 1-0 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Stacy Heinatz, Tarleton State University, SO, 3B, Marble Falls, Texas, Marble Falls HS
Heinatz gave Tarleton a huge spark from the bottom of the order last week as the redshirt-sophomore gave the
Texans big-at bat after big-at bat to lift Tarleton to a series win at No. 12 St. Mary’s in San Antonio. Heinatz came
up with RBI hits to give Tarleton three different leads over games two and three of the doubleheader against
the Rattlers. His first hit broke a 1-1 in the fifth inning of the seven-inning first game of the doubleheader as
his RBI and the scored run that ensued from it turned out to be the difference in a Tarleton win. In the second
game, Heinatz untied a 1-1 game in the second with his first career home run. He struck one more time in the
eighth inning with another RBI double to break yet another tie game and put Tarleton on top again. For the
week, Heinatz hit .545 – which was the best on the team among players with over 10 at bats – to go along with
a team-leading 1.091 slugging percentage. He hit .429 in three games with runners on base, including .500 with
runners in scoring position. He had a team-high OPS (on-base plus slugging) of 1.629 for the week. He hit three
doubles, one home run, racked up 12 total bases, scored two runs, and drove a team-best five RBIs while not
striking out in the series.
PITCHER
Brooks Trujillo, West Texas A&M University, SR, RHP, Parker, Colo., Legand HS
Trujillo set a WT school-record with 17 strikeouts at Northwestern Oklahoma State Saturday in an 8-0, complete
game shutout and he tossed a one-hitter. It was his first complete game and shutout of his WT career and he
walked just two in the game as the Rangers hit .033 against him. WT’s last one-hitter came on Feb. 24, 2014
against New Mexico Highlands. The previous best strikeouts by a player was Dylan James as he fanned 14 at
Angelo State Mar. 29, 2013 and the previous for the team was 16 versus Southwestern Oklahoma State Mar.
16, 1997.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Daniel Ward, Eastern New Mexico University, had the best week of his career and helped ENMU go 3-0 over
the stretch, going 8-13 from the plate, leading his team in hits, batting average (.615), slugging percentage
(1.692) and extra base hits (two doubles, four home runs). His three home run performance against Lane
College on Feb. 13 tied the ENMU record for most home runs in a single game - a record that had stood since
1999. Ward now leads the LSC early in the season in home runs and sits at second in batting percentage,
recording .600 on the season.
Paxton DeLaGarza, Angelo State University, once again play a major role in the Rams success this weekend
as it faced off with Southeastern Oklahoma State. The senior shortstop went 6-for-13 at the plate with a .461
batting average. He cranked a two run homer during Friday’s series opener, and a three run homer off the first
pitch he saw during the last game of the series. The three run jack was part a seven run first inning that would
prove to be the difference in the game. In total, the Lubbock, TX native tallied seven RBIs against the Savage
Storm and also added a double and a single to his stats for the weekend.
Cole Williams, Cameron University, had a pair of a homers and two doubles in a four game series against
Southern Nazarene where he had seven RBI. The red-shirt sophomore scored a run in each game of the series
and 14 putouts from behind the plate. In game one Saturday afternoon, Williams blasted a solo homer; in the
nightcap he had a double and a homer for a three RBI game. In the four games, he batted .417 and slugged
1.200 for the Aggies in the four game sweep.
Cole Sanchez, West Texas A&M University, had a big week for the Buffs as he went 4 of 12 with two runs
scored, four RBI and two home runs as WT went 2-2 for the week. Sanchez broke up a no-hitter with a solo
home run against Northeastern State and then hit a home run against Northwestern Oklahoma State on
Sunday.
Keith Kozak, Eastern New Mexico University, was credited with the win against Lane College for his five
innings of work from the mound. Fanning 10 batters, Kozak held Lane to a .063 batting average and had a no-
hitter going into his final inning of work. His ten strikeouts puts him tied for seventh in the ENMU record books
for most strikeouts in a single contest. Kozak is now 1-0 on the season with a 3.00 ERA and his 13 K’s places him
sixth in the LSC.

Javarias Banks, Cameron University, pitched six strong innings and struck out a career high ten Southern
Nazarene batters for a win on Saturday for the Aggies. The CU senior’s only blemish was in the first inning
where he gave-up a lead off double and a single for a run. Banks would then get the next SNU batter to ground
out into a 643 double play and striking out four out of five batters. Through two starts this season he has 17
punch outs in 13 innings of work.
Trevor Renfro, Tarleton State University, continued to deal for the Tarleton Texans as the senior from
Richardson collected his second win of the young season with a complete game victory over No. 12 St. Mary’s
Saturday afternoon. Renfro, who boasts a 2.50 ERA as the Lone Star Conference leader in innings pitched,
tossed his first complete game in the seven-inning game of last weekend’s doubleheader and allowed two runs
on five hits. He struck out two and did not walk a single batter. St. Mary’s entered the game having scored eight
or more runs in six of its first seven games, including five double-figure scoring efforts before Renfro held the
Rattler hitters to a .192 batting average and a season-low two runs in his start.
NOTES (Submitted by LSC SID’s)
Angelo State
2-1 last week.
Cameron
The Aggies are 7-0 to start the season for the first time as a four-year institution after sweeping a home-and-
home doubleheader with Southern Nazarene last week. Much of CU’s success is a balance between strong
hitting and pitching with the Aggies leading the LSC with a 2.21 ERA and holding hitters to a .190 average at
the plate. Cameron batters are .351 this season so far with 48 RBI and seven homers, last season it took CU 34
contests to hit the same number. Cody Bower is leading CU at the plate batting .478 with seven RBI and eight
pitchers have appeared in 24.1 innings of scoreless ball. The Aggies will face William Jewell for a four game
series this upcoming weekend in Lawton.
Eastern New Mexico
ENMU swept their Georgia road trip, scoring a combined 46 runs over three games while holding their
opponents to only four runs scored. Wins over Clark Atlanta, Lane and Selma moved Eastern to a 5-1 start,
their best start since 2014 where they went 6-1 in the opening weeks of the season. Over the course of the
three-game trip, the Hounds recorded a .406 batting average as a team and finished with a combined 1.71 ERA
from the mound. Of the eight pitchers who faced opposing batters, six finished with a 0.00 ERA in 15 innings
of work (out of 21 innings total).
Tarleton State
Tarleton won its second series of the season against a nationally ranked opponent as the Texans took two of
three from St. Mary’s on the road. The Texans will make their home debut this weekend against Emporia State,
who is ranked No. 38 in the Collegiate Baseball preseason poll.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M-Kingsville won 13-2 at Houston-Victoria in its lone game last week... the Javelinas are 1-3 to begin
2016.
West Texas A&M
The Buffs improved to 5-2 this week in record-setting fashion as senior Brooks Trujillo set a WT school-record
with 17 strikeouts at Northwestern Oklahoma State Saturday in an 8-0, complete game shutout and he tossed
a one-hitter...It was his first complete game and shutout of his WT career and he walked just two in the game as
the Rangers hit .033 against him...WT’s last one-hitter came on Feb. 24, 2014 against New Mexico Highlands...

the previous for the team was 16 versus Southwestern Oklahoma State Mar. 16, 1997...WT struggled in its
opening game this week in a 13-3, run-rule loss at Lubbock Christian...WT allowed ten runs in the third inning
and it was the first time the opposition scored 10 or more runs in an inning since Wayland Baptist scored 12
runs in the sixth inning in the Buffs’ 20-13 win on Apr. 9, 2013 in Plainview...The last time it happened in a loss
was at St. Edward’s with 11 runs in the second inning on Mar. 6, 2012...The game was a 3-3 score minus that
inning...Sophomore Cole Sanchez belted his first home run as a Buff in a 5-1, neutral site loss to Northeastern
State Saturday as he broke up a no-hitter in the seventh prior to Trujillo’s heroics...The Buffs then won the final
