LSC BASEBALL
Angelo State tops the Lone Star Conference standings after a perfect 4-0 start in league play.
LSC teams are playing a 10-week schedule with a four-game series and three-game series against every
other team. Each four-game series shall consist of a 9-inning game Friday, a 7x7 doubleheader Saturday
and 9-inning contest Sunday, and each three-game series shall consist of a 9-inning game Friday and a 7x9
doubleheader Saturday.
The overall LSC Champion will be the team(s) with the best winning percentage in regular-season conference
games, while the winner of the postseason championship will be recognized as LSC Tournament Champion and
receive the league’s automatic qualification into NCAA postseason. The championship will be played May 12-
13-14, at the No. 1 seed.
LSC baseball teams are 61-37 overall this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the teams are currently
17-6 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 8-4 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Trace Hansen, West Texas A&M University, SR, INF, Avon, Utah, Mountain Crest HS
Hansen had another outstanding week for the Buffs as WT won 3 of 4 in its LSC opener against Tarleton
State. Hansen hit .556 with a team-high 10 hits, nine runs scored, four doubles and banged three home runs,
while driving in seven for a 1.278 slugging percentage and a .579 on base clip. He had two home runs in a 7-0
win, including a two-run, inside the park home run to right center as the Buffs split a doubleheader that day.
Hansen has been on a tear in the last 11 games going 20 for 43 (.465) with 16 runs scored, seven doubles, one
triple, three home runs and 10 RBI as he began the season with just seven hits in the first seven games.
CO-PITCHERS
Sebi Palacios, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, JR, RHP, Premont, Texas, Calallen HS
Palacios struck out 13 in just his third start in a Javelina uniform, leading TAMUK to a 1-0 victory over Cameron,
handing the No. 10/24 ranked and then 11-0 Aggies their first loss of the season... Palacios went 8.0 innings
and allowed just five hits in the win... Palacios now has two double-digit strikeout performances in three
games... the right-hander is 1-0 with 27 punch outs in 20.0 innings and boasts a 1.80 ERA.
Austin Moore, West Texas A&M University, SR, RHP, Tucson, Ariz., Mountain View HS
Moore had another masterful pitching performance as he tossed his first complete game shutout as a Buff
going seven innings in a 7-0 win over Tarleton State to earn a doubleheader split on Saturday. WT went on for
the 3-1 series win. Moore fanned 12 and walked none, while allowing just two hits and holding the Texans to
a .091 batting average. For the season, Moore is 3-1 with a 1.82 ERA in 29.2 innings and is tied for the team-
lead in strikeouts with 39.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Jimmy Roche, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, hit .500 in a 3-1 week as Texas A&M-Kingsville defeated No.
10/24 and previously undefeated Cameron in three games... the first baseman began the week 1-for-4 with an
RBI and on Saturday, hit two doubles in game one and went 3-for-4 with two RBI in game two... Roche closed
the week with a base knock and two stolen bases Sunday to conclude the four-game series 7-of-14 with three
RBI, two doubles, two runs and three stolen bases.
Alec Humphreys, Tarleton State University, led Tarleton with a .400 batting average in Canyon last weekend.
The senior went 6-15 with an RBI and a double to go along with a .400 on-base percentage.
Tyler Coolbaugh, Angelo State University, assisted the Rams in its first program sweep of ENMU in Portales,
New Mexico by driving in 10 runs. This included an in--the-park home run during the final game of the series
to help ensure the win. The junior also added a two RBI double to the mix in the second game of the Saturday
doubleheader.
Will Blanchard, Tarleton State University, made his Tarleton debut with two innings of scoreless relief out
the Tarleton bullpen against No. 15 West Texas A&M. He allowed no hits and struck out one out of the pen.
Bryce Zak, Angelo State University, started both games of the Rams doubleheader this week against Eastern
New Mexico, and aided the team to its first ever sweep of the Greyhounds in Portales, NM. The senior right
hander tossed seven total innings allowing only a total of three runs off of 10 total hits and struck out 12. This
places the San Angelo native on top of the LSC rankings with a 4-0 record on the year and second with 48 total
strikeouts on the year.

Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico baseball team had a tough going of things this weekend, falling to 7-11 overall and 0-4
in their Lone Star Conference opener against Angelo State. Tregra Williams went 6-for-12 over the weekend
to lead the team in hits while Justin Paul, who recorded four hits, led the team in RBIs with three. From the
mound Daniel Ward had the most successful outing of the weekend, throwing six innings from the mound
while striking out a series-high nine batters and only giving up two earned runs. J’Daylin Jackson also had a
somewhat successful weekend, throwing five great innings before giving up six runs in his final inning. ENMU
lost the first two games of the series 13-3, followed by their third loss 8-3 and finally 11-0. The first three
contests lasted seven innings while the last went into the eighth. The Greyhounds will prepare for a four-game
series with Tarleton State in Stephenville, Texas. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. (MT) on Friday, March
11.
Tarleton State
Tarleton dropped three of four in the LSC opener last weekend. The Texans will be home this weekend for a
four-game set against Eastern New Mexico.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
In a four-game series against previously unbeaten and nationally-ranked Cameron, the Javelinas went 3-1 to
upend the No. 10/24 Aggies... Sebi Palacios struck out 13 in 8.0 innings to take game one and Jimmy Roche
hit .500 in four games... the Javelinas extended their win streak to 10 games and are now 10-4 and 3-1 in LSC
play... Texas A&M-Kingsville heads to Angelo State for four games ranked No. 5 in the NCBWA South Central
Region.
West Texas A&M
The No. 15-ranked West Texas A&M baseball team opened Lone Star Conference play winning three of four at
home versus Tarleton State to end an 11-game home stand...WT went 9-2 in the home stand and outscored
the Texans this weekend 36-17 and outhit them 52-27...WT tallied 23 extra-base hits on the week, including 15
doubles, one triple and seven round-trippers as the team hit a season-best .403 for a series...The staff, for the
most part, held Texans in check, holding them to a .223 average and WT carded 3.48 ERA with 42 strikeouts
to just six walks...Senior Trace Hansen was one of nine players to hit .300 or better for the series as he was a
team-high 10 of 18 from the plate (.556), scored nine runs, hit four doubles and three home runs, while driving
in seven...He slugged 1.278 and reached base at a .579 clip...Senior pitcher Austin Moore had another fantastic
week as he tossed a two-hit, complete game shutout, fanning 12 in a 7-0 win to earn a doubleheader split on
Saturday...Moore held TSU to a .091 average...The Buffs head on the road at Cameron this weekend for four
games...WT has played just three road games this season (2-1).
