Three Lone Star Conference baseball teams are undefeated after two weeks of non-conference play, while the remaining four teams have just one loss. LSC teams will play a 10-week conference schedule against each other. The overall LSC champion will be determined by best winning percentage in regular season conference games, while the LSC tournament champion will be the winner of the double-elimination postseason tournament hosted by the No. 1 seed from May 11-13. Several LSC players had standout performances last week and were named players of the week.

1. LSC BASEBALL
After two weeks of non-conference play, three Lone Star Conference baseball teams are unbeaten, while the
remaining four teams have just one loss.
The season rolls on with non-conference play this week.
LSC teams are playing a 10-week schedule with a four-game series against every other team during weeks
8-14 determining the LSC Champion. Conference series scheduled weeks 5-7 will not count toward the league
standings. Each four-game series shall consist of a 9-inning game Friday, a 7x7 doubleheader Saturday and
9-inning contest Sunday.
The overall LSC Champion will be the team(s) with the best winning percentage in regular-season conference
games, while the winner of the postseason championship will be recognized as LSC Tournament Champion
and receive the league’s automatic qualification into NCAA postseason. The double-elimination championship
featuring the top four teams will be played May 11-12-13, at the No. 1 seed.
LSC baseball teams are 37-4 overall this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the teams are currently
2-1 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 5-1 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Cody Bower, Cameron University, SR, Outfield, Albuquerque, N.M., St. Dius X HS
Bower led CU to a 3-1 record against Southwestern Oklahoma State this past weekend. His slash line for the
four game series was .632/.632/1.421, while driving in 10 runs and scoring nine of his own. Seven of Bower’s 12
hits were for extra bases, including two doubles, two triples, and three homers. The highlight of the series was
when he went 6-6 with five runs, seven RBI, two triples, and three homers in the opening game of the series.
His three homers and seven RBI in the game were the most by an Aggie since Codey McElroy did it in 2014. He
also matched Lone Star Conference records for homers in a game.
PITCHER
Marshall Kasowski, West Texas A&M University, JR, RHP, Conroe, Texas, Oak Ridge HS
Kasowski tossed a complete game, one-hit, run-rule shutout in a 15-0 win in the series opener versus
Northwestern Oklahoma State Friday evening...Kasowski set a career-high with 14 strikeouts in the game and
it was his second win of the season and second-straight game of tossing a one-hitter. For the season he is 2-0
with a 0.00 ERA, allowing 2 hits, walking five and fanning 21 as teams are hitting .054 against him. The lone hit
came on a bunt early in the game as the Rangers were completely stymied offensively by Kasowski.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Jacob Boston, Angelo State University, was unstoppable at the plate in three games against Southeastern
Oklahoma State, hitting .583 in his 12 plate appearances. The Arizona native hit a triple in game one, two home
runs in game two and another home run in game three, racking up 18 total bases over the course of just three
games. With runners on base, Boston hit an other-worldly .714, driving in nine runs and scoring three of his
own on the weekend.
Francisco Rodriguez, Tarleton State University, helped Tarleton take 2 out of 3 on the road against St. Mary’s
by recording a team-best five hits in the series. Rodriguez hit .455 for the week and scored five runs, had three
doubles, a home run and four RBI. In game two of the series, Rodriguez hit a leadoff home run in the top of the
fifth to break a 4-4 tie and was the first of five unanswered runs over the last three innings for the Texans en
route to a 9-4 win.
Troy LaBrie, West Texas A&M University, continued his hot start to the season, going 6 for 14 in three starts
behind the dish for the Buffs in the team’s second sweep of the season. LaBrie hit .429 for the series with three
runs scored, one double, a team-high two home runs and team-best nine RBI. LaBrie slugged .929 and reached
base at a .429 clip with no strikeouts. Prior to this season, LaBrie hadn’t had a home run in a WT uniform and
now leads the team with three round-trippers in six games.
Eddie Avila, Tarleton State University, as the closer, threw 2.2 scoreless innings in relief with only one hit and
five strikeouts and a save in the second game of the 3-game series against St. Mary’s. Avila came on in relief in
game two and delivered with a five-out save and striking out three. Opponents hit .111 against Avila in the two
appearances.
Kenton Schroter, Angelo State University, has already earned his second win in his second start on the young
season. Schroter threw six innings of one-run baseball in game three of the Rams’ series against Southeastern
Oklahoma State, allowing just five hits and striking out nine while on the mound. The Canadian also helped his
own cause by picking one runner off the bases.

weekend. In Weatherford, the Aggies split the double header falling in game one 18-16 but took the nightcap
9-7. Senior Cody Bower had a standout performance in game one, batting a perfect 6-for-6 and accounting for
7 RBI. He powered three homeruns over the Bulldogs and had two triples in the opener. He added two more
hits in the second game, one of which was a double. Fellow senior Cody Knight highlighted the Aggies in game
two going 3-for-4 at the plate and batting in four runs, two of which were scored off a two run blast over the
left field wall. Pierce Edward would close out the final frame with the save for winning pitcher Tyler Abrego (2-
0). In Lawton, Cameron swept the doubleheader winning 10-8 and 13-3. Bronson Pulgados and Victor DeJesus
led the Aggies at the plate during the doubleheader, as Pulgados went 4-7 with eight RBI and four runs scored
while DeJesus was 6-8 with four runs scored and five RBI. Each hit a grand slam in the opener. Gaige Vines got
the win on the mound in the opener after throwing 4.1 innings and Andrew Garza got the win in the nightcap
after pitching the final five innings.

Tarleton State
Tarleton improved to 5-1 after taking two of three on the road against St. Mary’s. The Texans hit .280 during the
series and was led by Blake Adams’ .500 average and Francisco Rodriguez’s .455 average. Tarleton will travel to
Houston to play in the Houston Winter Invitational at Minute Maid Park from Feb. 17-19.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
Did not compete... the Javelinas began 2017 3-0 and will head to the Houston Winter Invitational Friday-
Sunday.
UT Permian Basin
Did not play last week.
West Texas A&M
The West Texas A&M baseball team continued its strong start to the season with its second consecutive
sweep this weekend in the 2017 home-opening series versus Northwestern Oklahoma State...WT completely
dominated the Rangers in all facets of the game, tossing two shutouts, two run-rule games and outscoring the
Rangers 40-7...The Buffs hit .410 for the series on 41 of 100, while recording 10 doubles, two triples and hit
five home runs with 36 RBI...WT slugged .700 and reached base at a .504 clip, while going a perfect 8 of 8 in
stolen bases with 15 walks...The team committed just two errors for a .979 fielding percentage...Junior Nick
Canas paced the team hitting .667 on 6 of 9 with a team-high seven runs scored, two doubles, one home run
and four RBI...Senior Troy LaBrie belted two home runs and drove in nine in the series as he leads the team
with three home runs this season...In all, eight Buffs who played and started all three games hit over .300 for
the weekend...WT has scored in double figures in three of the six games this season and posted back-to-back
shutouts for the first time this season with the 15-0 win and the 8-0 win Saturday evening...WT is 6-0 on the
season for the first time in program history as the previous best start was done three times at 4-1 all under
Coach Vanderburg...Junior pitcher Marshall Kasowski tossed his second-straight one-hit shutout to improve to
2-0 on the year with a complete game, run-rule seven innings, while striking out a career-best 14 in the Friday
night 15-0 win...Kasowski has back-to-back one-hitters to start the season with a 0.00 ERA in 12 innings, while
walking five and fanning 21 as teams are hitting .054 against him for the season...For the season, the Buffs are
hitting .386 on 85 of 220 with 79 runs scored, 19 doubles, three triples, 10 home runs and 74 RBI...The team
is slugging .636 and reaching base at a .472 clip, while drawing 21 walks and fanning 31 times...WT is 12 of 14
in stolen bases and has a .981 fielding percentage with just four errors on the year...Kasowski leads the team
with a 2-0 record in 12 innings, while sophomore Dominic Yearego also is 2-0 in three relief appearances for the
Buffs and senior Joshua Payne threw a combined shutout Saturday in the 8-0 win going six innings, allowing one
hit, walked two and fanned 10....As a staff, the Buffs have a 2.12 ERA with one complete game, 2/1 shutouts an
three saves in 51 innings...WT has allowed 36 hits, 15 runs - 12 earned, walked 20 and fanned 59 as teams are
hitting .198 against them...WT continues at home this week as it hosts Oklahoma Panhandle State for a three-
game series Friday and Saturday at Wilder Park.
