1. What kind of music
institution might distribute
your media product and
why?

2. I believe IPC media are an institution that
might distribute my product. IPC is one of
the UK’s leading consumer magazine and
digital publisher who sell over 350 million
copies yearly.
3. They currently have a number of different
magazine divisions including; Connect
(gossip), Inspire (Leisure) and lastly Ignite
(Men’s lifestyle & entertainment), which is
where I believe my product, can be
categorised as an entertaining music
magazine.
4. I believe that there are a number of advantages of using IPC. One
of them being their great market force. They are currently the UK’s
leading magazine distributing company and also own magazines
such as NME. They also have the reputation and power to gain
access to the biggest music artist in the world which would allow
my product to be even more appealing and reach out to a wider
audience.
I believe that they might distribute my product because it is
something new and appeals to a wide audience. I believe the
music magazine’s they currently have are aimed at older viewers
as oppose to mine, which are aimed at a younger audience. My
product would help them add diversity and bring in a wider
audience of young people who don’t necessarily read magazines.
They also don’t have a lot of music magazines which are focused
solely on music nor do they have magazines which are focused
solely on young people. Now days, young people are only
interested in reading something if it is on a screen or it’s being read
to them. My product offers something new for these young people
and may mean that a number of them decide to start reading
magazines because it is aimed at them.
