Story
A little 4 year old innocent girl was playing with toys
in the long hall way. Her parents are were sat in the
back room and they was not keeping an eye on the
girl because they were not expecting anything to
happen in their own home. All of a sudden the
lights went off in the house. A strange figure
appeared at the end of the corridor. The little girl
screamed and her parents come rushing in and
then everything is back to normal and the kid is
playing with her toys again. The figure appears one
more time and the little girl screams and when the
parents come to check she has gone.

The interrogation chamber – amazing binaural 3D sound play
– In this video it sounds like you are in a room and then there are bad
people around you. To record this audio they had to use two microphones
that were placed in the ears of a dummy head thus being in binaural 3D
sound. There was no additional sound effects added post recording. The
location that this audio was filmed in was in a dismantled nuclear rector
complex 25 metres underground. Some of the sound effects that they
have used in this audio clip they have created them by them self by
actually using the tool that they are trying to represent. In the audio clip
they didn’t use any music because it was meant to sound like you was
there. The creators have made it sound much more scary because of the
theme of the audio. They try to make it sound like you are there and make
it feel like they are on your shoulder.
Existing Products Research
• Doctor who – The seventh doctor
– In this Audio clip they do use sound effects but only at one point in
the clip. It sounds like he grabs a flame thrower and starts to burn
the other character. We can first of all hear a can that has been
picked up and then it turns into a fiery sound. The music that they
use in this audio clip is to create more tension for the audience and
this will make them feel like something is about to happen in the
story line. The music stops playing just before the main part of the
audio clip starts and when the main part has finished it starts again
and carries on for the rest of the clip. It does this because the
creator wanted to build up tension up to the main part of the clip
and when it carries on, this is to spook the audience out. The
producer has set a scary theme of the audio clip. We can see this
because he uses scary music all the way through and also the tone
of the actors voice is set in a creepy way.
Existing Products Research
• Beach Soundscape
– In this clip we can hear all sorts of sound effects such as:
The sea, Seagulls, people talking, and the heavy wind. They
use these sound effects because they have make the exact
sound of what it would sound like when you’re actually at
the beach. The whole point of this audio clip was was to
recreate the sound of the beach so that people could listen
to it if that is what they are interested in or for other
people to use it in other audio clips. The producers have
suggested the time that this has been set because they
have added a lot of people talking and seagulls flying
about. This shows that it is mid day because there will not
be many people at the beach when it is night time and also
not many fly about late at night.

Planning
Idea Generation/Initial Reaction
• I am exited to get to start my audio project because I think it
will be successful and be able to tell a good story that the
audience will be able to understand. I have a really good idea
in my opinion and if I can make the sound effects the best
they can be then my project will be really promising. The way I
will be getting the sound effects will be hard especially if I
cant get the exact sounds I want.
Proposal
Working Title:
The dark corridor
Audience:
my target audience will be 10-15 so my audio will not be too scary but it will also be scary
enough for them to understand. I will be targeting every gender because I want my project to
appeal to as many people as possible. My project will appeal to this audience because I will still
be making my product child friendly and won’t have any bad words in or make it too scary for
them. Also my product will appeal to every gender because there won’t be a specific theme for
either of them to enjoy, It will be targeted towards all genders.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept of my product is to make it a scary story for the younger audience but I won’t make
it too scary because I don’t want it to affect the age range. It will be a scary corridor where a
strange character will appear and mess with the house and scare they characters.
Script
Sound Effects
Sound Effect Needed How I Will Create the Sound
Open and close door To create this sound I will go to a door and
open and close it but make sure the
sound is understandable.
Rain on conservatory roof I will have to get this from the internet
unless it is raining at the time I record
this.
Playing with toys Messing about with stones
Lights turn off I will have to get this from the internet
because I want it to be dramatic and I
wont be able to do that by myself.
Rumble I will have to get this from the internet
because im not sure where I will be able
to get a rumble sound from on the college
grounds.
Little girl screaming One of the characters will scream as a
separate audio clip and then add it in
when ever it is needed.
Resource List
Resource Owned/Cost What sound effect will it be
used for?
Stones Free outside This sound effect will be used to
represent the little girl laying with
toys.
Door Free Inside I will use this sound effect so that it
can represent somebody walking
through a door.
Production
Daily Reflection Day 1
• On day one I started to plan out how I wanted
my story to pan out. I had a idea of what I
wanted my story to be like so I could fly
through that quickly. I had a quick look on the
internet to find out some different sound
effects that would have been effective in the
audio.
Daily Reflection Day 2
• On the second day I went outside to capture
foley sound effects such as the stones. To do
this I put the microphone up close and let my
friend walk on the stones to hopefully get the
best effects possible. I then went to a door
and did the exact same thing by putting the
microphone up close to a squeaky door and
recorded it.
Daily Reflection Day 3
• On the third day I recorded all the audio that I
planned out in my script and had some friends
to help me with this too. Then I got all of the
recorded sound effects together and got ready
to make it the following day.
Daily Reflection Day 4
• On the last day I had all of my sounds together
and then put them into adobe audition. I then
made the sounds the correct sizes using the
wide variety of tools that the software offers.
Then I found that I enjoyed how my audio
sounded and then finally rendedred it.

Evaluation
Research
• A strength of my research is that I got to have a look at all sorts of different existing
products that helped me with my final product and could even help me in my final
major project. My research helped my product because I got some different
techniques from the existing products that I added into my final audio project.
• A weakness of my research is that I chose a sound that had nothing to do with my
project and just researched it because I though it sounded good. If I did something
that was similar to my project then it would of helped me much more. To improve
my research I could have had a look at many other techniques that people use in
audio and then that would of helped my project very well.
Planning
• A strength of my planning is that I got to plan everything exactly how I
wanted my audio to sound and where the sound effects will fit in best.
This really helped with my final product because all of the sounds that I
recorded fit very well into my audio and made it much better than not
having any in.
• A weakness of my planning is that I didn’t use many resources for my
sound effects. It would have been much better if I had more because it
would of made my audio sound better as there will be more to listen to
but could also make it more complicated.
Time Management
• I think I managed my time well because I finished my audio and collected all
of the sound effects in time and recorded all of the voice’s that I need. The
only part of the project where I took my time on was the Audio Pro-Forma
because some parts I wasn’t able to fully fill out. I left my audio pro-forma
to the last minute so I unfortunately didn’t complete all of my work on time
but the practical side of the project I did. If I had more time to improve my
project I would of collected more sound effects to give my audio more of a
pop and may interest more people.
Technical Qualities
My Audio – https://soundcloud.com/user-81126941/audio-ghost/s-R5MX1
Existing Audio - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhuaasjplbQ
My work is sort of similar to this existing product but the existing product is set at
a whole new level. I have used a few different techniques in my audio as I have
used a few foley methods and it also sounds like the existing product has done this
too with many different sound effects. I think my work is just right and not too
complicated, it fits the age range perfectly because there isn't too many sound
effects and I kept it simple the whole way through. I recorded some of my audio by
making the sound effects in real life separately and then added them into the parts
of the audio project that I wanted them to be in.
Aural Qualities
Personally I think my work sounds good because of some of the sound effects that I have
added. The sound effects make it stand out that little bit extra as it makes the story more
interesting for the reader. I think my work was creative because I created my own story up
and collected all of the sound effects myself and also came up with a script for people to
perform. An aspect of my work that I like is the rain drops on the conservatory roof, I think
this really sets the mood of the whole audio. If I were to improve anything I would of
added more sound effects but I wouldn’t of made it too complicated.
A strength of my audio was that I collected all of my sound together and then put them
together well to create a well structured piece of audio work.
A weakness of my audio was that at some parts of the audio a friend laughed and I
couldn’t cut it out so it then made it to the final piece.
Audience Appeal
I have appealed to my target audience by not making the project too
complicated but also made it create suspension for the audience and hopefully
they understand everything that is going on. Some of the specific parts of my
project that will appeal to my target audience will be the sound effects that I
have added. For example people that are really interested in audio, they might
wonder how the sound effects have been recorded and may help them in the
future.

All of a sudden the lights went off in the house. A strange figure appeared at the end of the corridor. The little girl screamed and her parents come rushing in and then everything is back to normal and the kid is playing with her toys again. The figure appears one more time and the little girl screams and when the parents come to check she has gone.
  • 3. Existing Products Research The interrogation chamber – amazing binaural 3D sound play – In this video it sounds like you are in a room and then there are bad people around you. To record this audio they had to use two microphones that were placed in the ears of a dummy head thus being in binaural 3D sound. There was no additional sound effects added post recording. The location that this audio was filmed in was in a dismantled nuclear rector complex 25 metres underground. Some of the sound effects that they have used in this audio clip they have created them by them self by actually using the tool that they are trying to represent. In the audio clip they didn’t use any music because it was meant to sound like you was there. The creators have made it sound much more scary because of the theme of the audio. They try to make it sound like you are there and make it feel like they are on your shoulder.
  • 4. Existing Products Research • Doctor who – The seventh doctor – In this Audio clip they do use sound effects but only at one point in the clip. It sounds like he grabs a flame thrower and starts to burn the other character. We can first of all hear a can that has been picked up and then it turns into a fiery sound. The music that they use in this audio clip is to create more tension for the audience and this will make them feel like something is about to happen in the story line. The music stops playing just before the main part of the audio clip starts and when the main part has finished it starts again and carries on for the rest of the clip. It does this because the creator wanted to build up tension up to the main part of the clip and when it carries on, this is to spook the audience out. The producer has set a scary theme of the audio clip. We can see this because he uses scary music all the way through and also the tone of the actors voice is set in a creepy way.
  • 5. Existing Products Research • Beach Soundscape – In this clip we can hear all sorts of sound effects such as: The sea, Seagulls, people talking, and the heavy wind. They use these sound effects because they have make the exact sound of what it would sound like when you’re actually at the beach. The whole point of this audio clip was was to recreate the sound of the beach so that people could listen to it if that is what they are interested in or for other people to use it in other audio clips. The producers have suggested the time that this has been set because they have added a lot of people talking and seagulls flying about. This shows that it is mid day because there will not be many people at the beach when it is night time and also not many fly about late at night.

  • 8. Idea Generation/Initial Reaction • I am exited to get to start my audio project because I think it will be successful and be able to tell a good story that the audience will be able to understand. I have a really good idea in my opinion and if I can make the sound effects the best they can be then my project will be really promising. The way I will be getting the sound effects will be hard especially if I cant get the exact sounds I want.
  • 9. Proposal Working Title: The dark corridor Audience: my target audience will be 10-15 so my audio will not be too scary but it will also be scary enough for them to understand. I will be targeting every gender because I want my project to appeal to as many people as possible. My project will appeal to this audience because I will still be making my product child friendly and won’t have any bad words in or make it too scary for them. Also my product will appeal to every gender because there won’t be a specific theme for either of them to enjoy, It will be targeted towards all genders. Project Concept (approx. 200 words) The concept of my product is to make it a scary story for the younger audience but I won’t make it too scary because I don’t want it to affect the age range. It will be a scary corridor where a strange character will appear and mess with the house and scare they characters.
  • 11. Sound Effects Sound Effect Needed How I Will Create the Sound Open and close door To create this sound I will go to a door and open and close it but make sure the sound is understandable. Rain on conservatory roof I will have to get this from the internet unless it is raining at the time I record this. Playing with toys Messing about with stones Lights turn off I will have to get this from the internet because I want it to be dramatic and I wont be able to do that by myself. Rumble I will have to get this from the internet because im not sure where I will be able to get a rumble sound from on the college grounds. Little girl screaming One of the characters will scream as a separate audio clip and then add it in when ever it is needed.
  • 12. Resource List Resource Owned/Cost What sound effect will it be used for? Stones Free outside This sound effect will be used to represent the little girl laying with toys. Door Free Inside I will use this sound effect so that it can represent somebody walking through a door.
  • 14. Daily Reflection Day 1 • On day one I started to plan out how I wanted my story to pan out. I had a idea of what I wanted my story to be like so I could fly through that quickly. I had a quick look on the internet to find out some different sound effects that would have been effective in the audio.
  • 15. Daily Reflection Day 2 • On the second day I went outside to capture foley sound effects such as the stones. To do this I put the microphone up close and let my friend walk on the stones to hopefully get the best effects possible. I then went to a door and did the exact same thing by putting the microphone up close to a squeaky door and recorded it.
  • 16. Daily Reflection Day 3 • On the third day I recorded all the audio that I planned out in my script and had some friends to help me with this too. Then I got all of the recorded sound effects together and got ready to make it the following day.
  • 17. Daily Reflection Day 4 • On the last day I had all of my sounds together and then put them into adobe audition. I then made the sounds the correct sizes using the wide variety of tools that the software offers. Then I found that I enjoyed how my audio sounded and then finally rendedred it.

  • 20. Research • A strength of my research is that I got to have a look at all sorts of different existing products that helped me with my final product and could even help me in my final major project. My research helped my product because I got some different techniques from the existing products that I added into my final audio project. • A weakness of my research is that I chose a sound that had nothing to do with my project and just researched it because I though it sounded good. If I did something that was similar to my project then it would of helped me much more. To improve my research I could have had a look at many other techniques that people use in audio and then that would of helped my project very well.
  • 21. Planning • A strength of my planning is that I got to plan everything exactly how I wanted my audio to sound and where the sound effects will fit in best. This really helped with my final product because all of the sounds that I recorded fit very well into my audio and made it much better than not having any in. • A weakness of my planning is that I didn’t use many resources for my sound effects. It would have been much better if I had more because it would of made my audio sound better as there will be more to listen to but could also make it more complicated.
  • 22. Time Management • I think I managed my time well because I finished my audio and collected all of the sound effects in time and recorded all of the voice’s that I need. The only part of the project where I took my time on was the Audio Pro-Forma because some parts I wasn’t able to fully fill out. I left my audio pro-forma to the last minute so I unfortunately didn’t complete all of my work on time but the practical side of the project I did. If I had more time to improve my project I would of collected more sound effects to give my audio more of a pop and may interest more people.
  • 23. Technical Qualities My Audio – https://soundcloud.com/user-81126941/audio-ghost/s-R5MX1 Existing Audio - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhuaasjplbQ My work is sort of similar to this existing product but the existing product is set at a whole new level. I have used a few different techniques in my audio as I have used a few foley methods and it also sounds like the existing product has done this too with many different sound effects. I think my work is just right and not too complicated, it fits the age range perfectly because there isn't too many sound effects and I kept it simple the whole way through. I recorded some of my audio by making the sound effects in real life separately and then added them into the parts of the audio project that I wanted them to be in.
  • 24. Aural Qualities Personally I think my work sounds good because of some of the sound effects that I have added. The sound effects make it stand out that little bit extra as it makes the story more interesting for the reader. I think my work was creative because I created my own story up and collected all of the sound effects myself and also came up with a script for people to perform. An aspect of my work that I like is the rain drops on the conservatory roof, I think this really sets the mood of the whole audio. If I were to improve anything I would of added more sound effects but I wouldn’t of made it too complicated. A strength of my audio was that I collected all of my sound together and then put them together well to create a well structured piece of audio work. A weakness of my audio was that at some parts of the audio a friend laughed and I couldn’t cut it out so it then made it to the final piece.
  • 25. Audience Appeal I have appealed to my target audience by not making the project too complicated but also made it create suspension for the audience and hopefully they understand everything that is going on. Some of the specific parts of my project that will appeal to my target audience will be the sound effects that I have added. For example people that are really interested in audio, they might wonder how the sound effects have been recorded and may help them in the future.
