2. Research
• My research helped my product because I got to look at other existing
products from a professional games designer. I looked at some different
video games and I got some good ideas that I could add into my work. The
reason I did this is because I got to know some good techniques that I
could add to my work and make it the best I could.
• A strength of my research is that I had a age range that I was targeting so I
knew exactly what I wanted in my product so that it would appeal to
correct age range. This is good because if I put something that would
appeal to children into the product then older people will not want it
because the will think that it isn’t for them.
• In my research I could have had a look at many other games so that I could
get different ideas from other games instead of the same type of game
that I was going to create.
3. Planning
• Some of the strengths of planning my product is that I get to see and
experiment with different fonts. I can use different fonts and put them
into a powerpoint and then I can find different fonts that match my
genre. Also another strength of my planning is that I can plan colour
schemes that will work well together so when I look for images I know
what colour to look for. This helped in my product because I used a lot of
different colour schemes that looked good together.
• A weakness of my planning is that I made one of my games completely
different to the game that I was planning on creating. On the other hand if
I did the same game I wouldn’t of got much from it. SO it was kind of a
good idea and also a bad idea.
4. Time Management
• If I am honest I do not think I have managed my time well because I have
had to go into the Christmas holidays but I have still completed everything
and made sure it is all handed in. if I had more time I would of gone over
every document that I created and added as much detail as I could until
there is anything else to talk about. Also if I had more time on my final
product I would of added a better background and put more detail into
the game. I would of added mountains into the background and also put
moving objects like birds flying around.
5. Technical Qualities
A similarity that my work has with the existing product is that we both have the same concept of game.
They are both infinite runner side scrollers where they have a character that runs and dodges obstacles
and collects objects. Also both of our games have a point system where they run along the screen and
collect as many coins as they can. A difference that my work has with the existing product is that they
have a detailed background where as my background is very simple but effective.
A strength of my work is that I have added a system where I choose what character they want to use
and then focus on the character picking up everything throughout the course and interacting with the
obstacles. A weakness of my work is that I have is I could of added a moving background to make it look
that much better but that’s was not needed.
6. Aural Qualities

A strength of the audio elements throughout my work is that I have added a
different sound effect throughout the whole video game. Also I created my own
music that plays over the game and I did this by using the website
www.beepbox.co. A weakness of my audio is that I have not created my own audio
for some of the sound effects. This would of improved my product because i think I
could of made them much better.
A similarity between my work and the existing product is that we have both used
sound effects when something major happens. For example in my product when I
die there is a sound effect showing that I have died and in the existing product
when they shoot a sound effect happens that indicates they are shooting. A
difference between my work and the existing product is that they have dialogue of
the characters don’t. This would of definitely made my product much better If I did
this or at east made mine interact with the audience.
7. Aesthetic Qualities
I think my work looks good as all of the colours come together nicely and
aren't too over the top. Also the characters that I created a very well put
together and I spent a lot of time designing them. I think my work was also
creative because I created the different objectives and all of the obstacles that
were put into the game. If I could improve anything on my game, it would
definitely be the background because I kept it very simple as I didn’t have
enough time to make the background look better. I Probably would of changed
it to have clouds in the sky or something else like that.
8. Audience Appeal
My product appeals to my target audience because I have made my designs
simple but then I spent more time on the animation. I think my audience
would rather have a simple design but then make the game a little bit more
complicated.
