Year 1 Progression in Graphic Design and Photography
1. Proposal
Year 1 of this course really helped my progression in graphic design and
photography. I got to use all sorts of different tools in Photoshop CC and this will
help me because I will know what tools I can use in certain situations when they
will be needed. Although I didn’t do photography in my FMP last year, I still did
cinematography and this is similar as I am still using a camera and also finding
good shots but instead of filming it, it will be a still shot. I have also done some
other types of photo manipulation and these have been of other images that I
have found on the internet. This time I will be taking the pictures myself and
hopefully making a successful image out of it.
The concept of my project is to create a movie poster using photo manipulation. I
plan to go to york railway museum to take photographs of the trains and then
with the best one I will change the way the photo looks and make it manipulative
but I’m not exactly sure what I am going to do to achieve this. I will take pictures
of the trains using the camera provided by college if available or using my iPhone
as this phone still has a good camera and will be capable of taking an image at a
high enough standard. I will also find different images around york that I think
might fit well into my image e.g. a lamp post, phone box. I will then edit the
image that I chose to make it look even sharper than the original. The main
concept of me making this image is to promote a movie so I will also have to
come up with the name of the movie and maybe even a logo that will fit onto the
poster nicely. I have looked at many existing products and I have gathered some
ideas that will help me with my final product.
I plan to evaluate my work at least at the end of every week by going over
everything that I have done throughout all of the project and see what I did well
or what I should improve on. This will help for the future as I know what my
strong points of the subject will be so I can try to improve on them in my own
time so I can make the next project the best I possibly can. This will not only
improve my skills but it will also help me stick to my schedule and have
everything done in time.
