3. My Presentation Topics
is
Fischer – Tropsch synthesis : Production of liquid
fuels from synthesis gas.
Development of chemical industry in bangladesh .
4. What is Synthesis gas ?
Syngas or synthesis gas is a fuel gas mixture consisting
of primarily hydrogen, carbon monoxide.
CH4 CO+H2
Syngas can be produced from :
natural gas,
coal,
biomass,
hydrocarbon feedstock.
.
5. Syngas can be produced by
Syngas can be produced by
steam reforming reaction,
dry reforming reaction or
partial oxidation
6. What is Fischer Tropsch process?
The Fischer-Tropsch process is a catalyzed
chemical reaction in which carbon monoxide
and hydrogen are converted into liquid
hydrocarbons of various forms.
10. Liquid fuels from syn gas
The FT process start with partial oxidation of
methane (natural gas) to carbon dioxide
,carbon monoxide ,hydrogen gas and water.
The ratio of carbon monoxide to hydrogen is
adjusted using the water gas shift reaction
,while the excess carbon dioxide is removed
with aqueous solution of alkanolamines.
14. Chemical industry
The Chemical Processing Industry encompasses a broad
range of products, including petrochemical and inorganic
chemicals, plastics, detergents, paints and pigments, and
more.
“The chemical industry is an industry where its raw materials
are distinguished more for their chemical properties than for
their physical or mechanical properties. It processes these raw
material into higher added value chemical products. The
processing may be by increased purity, increased
concentration, chemical reactions or a combination of the
above.”
15. Development of chemical industry in
Bangladesh
• the development of modern chemical industry in Bangladesh
what was geographically constituets of undivided Bengal and
asian provinces of India in1947 .
• The start come about with the stablishment of the sugar mills
at Setabgonj in the sugarcane producing region in 1993.
• A cement plant having a daily capacity of 250 tons of Portland
cement went into commercial production in Chhatak in 1941
using locally available clay, limesatone and coal.
• At the time of partition ,there were only five sugar mills and
one cement plant.
16. The development of chemical industry in Bangladesh can be
divided into three period.
1.Pakistani period
1. Pakistan industrial development corporation period
2. Bangladesh period.
17.
18.
19. Bangladesh period
When Bangladesh attained in independence on 16 December 1971. the
following project were under implementation by the EPIDC:
1. two sugar mills plus expansion of two mills.
2. paper mills (NBMP)
3. TSP at Chittagong
4. ammonia – urea ( UFFL)
5. cement clinker grinding factory at Chittagong.
