Its an "United Nations Park" Construction site. We have visited this place to gain some practical experience which is related to our academic topic. In this site we have seen a various engineering materials like hollow bricks, Concrete block, plain tiles. And how to make a water fountain, and pathway which is aesthetically pleasing to see. This construction was directed by our Honorable Sir Md. Abul Hasan. The Name of the developer is "STRUCXEL" which have the glorious history in the development in Chittagong.

INTRODUCTION
The site visit event was organized by Md. Abul Hasan held on 2nd
May 2024 at “United Nations
Park” construction site, which is located at Panchlaish, Chittagong. Before going to construction
site, all the safety precautions gave by our lecturer such as safety helmet and safety shoes. Then
base on the plan, we reached to the construction site around 8:00 AM after an hour journey by
local transportation system. After arrival to the site and meeting with the people in charge of
guiding us, a short brief about the project was given by Engr. Nihal and his colleagues to start the
tour around the site.
The development name of the construction we visited is “United Nations Park”. It is a project of
developing a theme park. The construction of this development was started from November 2022
and is expected to be completed by May 2026.

Objectives:
• Experiencing and learning more about construction site environment that will face after
becoming a Quantity Surveyor and entering construction industry.
• Understand the basic of the construction process and witness the usage of construction
equipment's on site including mechanical plants.
• Awareness of awareness of the importance of safety on site and understanding of safety
problems and site conditions.
• Asking questions from the people in charge and people working at construction site to
• gain more information and learn from their experiences.
• To gain experience in building materials science

OBSERVATION & QUESTIONS
Earthworks: From the site, we observe that the soils are mainly sandy soil, which is good
nutrients for plantation. We also know that this development site was used for plantation purpose
as it is surrounded by all the plantation. The layout seemed well-planned, with attention to
creating naturalistic and aesthetically pleasing green spaces.
Pathway Construction: Construction of pathways winding through the park was in
progress. The pathways appeared to be well-designed, providing easy access for visitors while
blending seamlessly with the park's overall landscape. And the materials of pathways
construction are aesthetically regular shape and well finishing good quality materials such as
bricks, tiles.
Water Features: The installation of water features, including fountains and ponds, was in
its final stages. The fountains are located at the center of the park. These features will add to the
park's ambiance and provide opportunities for passive recreation and enjoyment.
Structural Development: Work on structural elements were underway. These elements
will provide visitors with spaces for relaxation and recreation once the park is completed.
Numerous benches and seating areas have been installed along the pathways and near key
attractions within the park. These seating provisions offer visitors opportunities to rest,

contemplate, and appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. The benches are constructed using
CC materials to withstand outdoor conditions while ensuring comfort for park-goers. The
progress in structural development indicates a concerted effort to create a park that not only offers
natural beauty but also functional amenities for the enjoyment and convenience of visitors. The
careful planning and execution of these structural elements contribute to the park's appeal as a
recreational destination that caters to the diverse needs of the community.
Safety Measures: Safety measures, including signage indicating construction zones and
restricted areas, were prominently displayed throughout the site. Workers were not seen wearing
appropriate safety gear and following established protocols. Though it has to be mentioned that
it was not a heavy construction.

Materials On Site: In this site there is lot of Construction materials that we have seen such
as Concrete block, well finishing bricks, Tensile steel, Granular sand, White cement, Portland
cement. These materials have high quality to ensure the quality construction.

Conclusion:
The site visit to the under-construction park provided valuable insights into the progress and
development of this recreational space. It is evident that meticulous planning, dedicated effort,
and attention to detail have been invested in every aspect of the project. As the construction
progresses, the vision for the park as a vibrant community hub is steadily taking shape.
The park's design integrates seamlessly with its natural surroundings, offering a harmonious blend
of green spaces, recreational facilities, and structural amenities. From lush landscaping to
carefully placed seating areas and recreational zones, every element contributes to creating an
inviting and inclusive environment for visitors of all ages.
We were excited about this site visit event since when we were informed by the Honorable
Department Head during the middle of the semester. After visiting the construction site, there
many valuable information and knowledge gained by our Batch.
First of all, we have a chance of experience the life and the working environments being a
Quantity Surveyor. We realized that working at a construction site is much more difficult than
we thought, a lot of risks involved and the weather is hot usually, thus a series of precautions
must be taken to work in this type of working condition.
Besides that, we have learnt a lot of things by identifying different types of construction materials
and their uses, and also learning a lot about construction process and methods that are used in
Bangladesh.
On the other hand, it is good experience for learning through site visit with the explanation from
senior Engineer. It was impressed that one of the senior engineers -Engr Nihal knows a lot of the
construction knowledge even though he is only Site Engineer. He said that if you are actively and
learn with passion of your work, then you will learn very fast and work happily.
Lastly, this site visit helped us for better understanding what we are going to face in future and
also, giving our better understanding about construction to help us during our study. In overall, it
was a great fun and experience for our batch.
