Communication Method

Christopher law
ASA Codes
Number Name Brief Description
1 Compliance As long as the customer is happy and isn’t being lied to or manipulated by
false information. Then marketing communications is honest and truthful
2 Recognition of
marketing
communications
To display and show to the audience that this is an advert with clear
indications of logos, slogans and the use of imagery. These conventions are
easily identified by the general public.
3 Misleading Adverts Adverts with false information to get more sales and lies of the product and its
capabilities. The function, price and guarantees.
4 Harm and Offence Ofending a particular group of people, and discrimination of a peoples status.
Such as race, religion and appearance.
5 Children Adverts cannot abuse or influence a child’s opinion on a product. Such as
pressuring children to buy your product, or that the product isn’t age
appropriate.
6 Privacy Contracts between the advertiser and the actor will contain private
information that should only be released or used in the advert if the actor has
given permission clearly in the contract if the advertiser has used their
information in the advert without their consent then that’s breaking the
contract.
13 Food, food
supplements
and associated health
or nutritional claims
You shouldn’t promote food or nutritional products as healthy without proof
or evidence. And promoting bad dietary habits so consumers purchase more
and more of their products.
Mind Map
I would design a poster for a
coke a cola advert to
promote the company.
Then I would write up key
points, so I can remind
myself of who I need to
direct the advert at.
I would keep referring to
these key points as I am
evolving the project .
When I have finished my poster
project I will continue using the
points and objectives for future
projects. for this unit so its not
to confuse anyone.
Once I design my game art I will
consider who the audience is and
if they like the poster and why
they would.
If the audience likes my work for
a particular reason then I will
focus on that for my future
projects.
Until the audience is satisfied
and happy with my products
then I will continue to work and
produce the best possible
posters, videos and video games.
Mind Map
• Strengths of using this method – this can very
useful when planning.
• Weaknesses of using this method – can
sometimes get confusing and complicated.
• Did you like using this method? Why? – yes
because it can be a reminder of what you
need to do and how to do it.
Mood Board
• Strengths of using this method – mood boards
can help. As you can gather a lot of photos
together and use that as a variation of
something.
• Weaknesses of using this method – none
really.
• Did you like using this method? Why? – yes as
it is probably most useful technique
Mood Board
Using a mood board can help with evaluating all of your work at once, and
gathering information about one certain subject such as gaming. You might
include consoles or characters from games like Mario, sonic, Pac-man and some
of the other iconic things you recognise with gaming. This can help with making
posters and other media projects that can be defined with pictures. Instead of
writing paragraphs of subjects you can just refer to the pictures used in a mood
board.
The disadvantage of a mood board is that it doesn't specify the actual
products or go in detail with the projects of media, so it doesn't capture
any real detail that people will be interested in its only a vague image for
people to put together in their heads.
Personally I think it gets the message across and is very useful for students
in my position and needs a reminder of what they are doing.
Style Sheet
• Strengths of using this method – its so you can
change your style of text or font, mostly to
suit the genre your using.
• Weaknesses of using this method – its hard to
find the specific style you want.
• Did you like using this method? Why? – yes
because there's multiple options.
Style Sheet
Using a style to a sheet will help with your presentation
when you present you project and make it seem more
appealing and intriguing, this helps with your impression as
you will be judged on your work and how well it is
presented, so the better your work looks the better.
But most people forget that presentation isn’t everything
and that the work you actually put in is worth peoples
time. But presentation can attract more people to your
work. Most people will read your presentation based on
how creative and original it is compared to the other
boring white sheeted presentation.
Layout Plan
sale
100% free

Price £££
Competition
Your chance to
win a life time
supply of coke-
a-cola. Enter
now!
Slogan
The slogan should be short and simple
but not original like “Have a coke”
something else like “take a sip, of this
sugar free delight” this doesn’t
necessarily have to rhyme. But
definitely should be aimed to please
or make the target audience feel
happy and willing to buy one.
Other slogans ideas, they could refer
to their countries patriotism like a
promotion of U.K summarizing the
good deeds and celebrating by getting
the entire nation to drink coke like on
remembrance day.
I might try to do that, where I refer to
the people of Britain and their love for
what makes them British.
This layout plan will help me as this is
a brief understanding of what I want
my finale poster to look like.
Basically I want the coke cola truck at
the bottom as to represent the
ground and a Christmas tree made
out out of recycled cans. And an
example of a coke bottle for
Christmas then I want the background
the classic cola red and a shadowed
sleigh at the top with magical
snowflakes shimmering off the sleigh.
And having the ball represent some
type of moon. And a small slogan next
to the coke bottle saying
“ Celebrate Christmas with the
ones you love”
Layout Plan
• Strengths of using this method – Using this method
can help you plan out your work and save you time improvising your work.
This is really useful when you are lost and need help you can use the
layout plan to remember how your work is going to be presented.
• Weaknesses of using this method – Weaknesses for
this method can be making the layout plan instead of actually doing the
plan. This plan will affect your work in the short term.
• Did you like using this method? Why? – This
method helps me and I like using it. Because it helps me when I’m
confused and need help or reminders for what I’m writing.
Brainstorm
Brainstorming helps by creating contributions and counter acts
from a problem. Like if you broke a vase that your mother loved
and that has sentimental value. Then you’d go through the
options and reasoning. 1st option is to tell her and admit that
you where playing around and should be more cautious in the
future. The 2nd would be to hide the broken crockery and forget
about it, doesn’t always end well. 3rd is trying to find a
replacement and hope she don’t realize the change.
These would be the thoughts going through your head but it
does’t have to only be your ideas your family and friends can
also help brainstorm by writing down all their ideas on the
board and going with which ever has the most pros then cons.
Brainstorm
• Strengths of using this method – Using this method can
help with deciding on one decision over the others. By doing this
you can see how each possible choice could end up. better or worse
or the same.
• Weaknesses of using this method – you can gather a
multiple of other people’s opinions and ideas so it will be a lot to
remember and gather.
• Did you like using this method? Why? – I have not yet
used this method because I haven’t needed to yet, and I’m not sure
if I want to use this method. To much information to be considered
when using this method and it takes time.
Informal Pitch
• Strengths of using this method – using this method
will get peoples attention and support if using it for good
points and presentation. It will get the point across to a wider
variety of audience.
• Weaknesses of using this method – you have to
have an interest in what the person is talking about in order to
understand and follow what they are talking about.
• Did you like using this method? Why? – no,
because it narrows down the people watching and looking at
your work. Plus the audience is also narrowed down.
Formal Pitch
• Strengths of using this method – this helped
me with my presentation.
• Weaknesses of using this method – none.
• Did you like using this method? Why? Yes it’s a
decent way to pitch ideas.
Initial Reaction
• Your first reaction to the piece of work. So if
its bright and colourful then shock and
surprise will be your first reaction, it gives off
what it will most likely be throughout the
movie, book or anything really. This
communication method can help for people
who don’t go in detail.
Initial Reaction
• Strengths of using this method – this method can help us
guess the audiences expectancy and their fulfilment of that.
• Weaknesses of using this method – sometimes the first few
scenes of the movie can be judged for the rest of the movie.
• Did you like using this method? Why? Yes because it lets you
know if your beginning is good or not and if not then you can
ask for tips and points to help you improve it.
Sketches
Sketches are normally used for rough work so not the finished project or product,
but a prototype or brief descriptive drawing can help people picture the full thing in
their heads.
Most artists and designers start with sketches to inspire them before they dedicate
themselves to starting the project, it is much safer in case you over do your work.
They can even start with just doodling in a notebook then it can go on to be a
revolutionary invention.
Most sketches are used by inexperienced or cautious users as most prefer to perfect
their design before using it or submitting it.
Sketches
• Strengths of using this method – you can get a
general idea of what your creating.
• Weaknesses of using this method – its not the
finished product.
• Did you like using this method? Why? – nope
because I cant draw I prefer a mood board.
Formal Proposal
• Strengths of using this method – to initiate
large and huge projects.
• Weaknesses of using this method - they are
larger compared to non formal proposal.
• Did you like using this method? Why? – nope,
because it takes to long and it needs to be
shorter and more descriptive.

1. communication methods pro forma(1)

  • 2. ASA Codes Number Name Brief Description 1 Compliance As long as the customer is happy and isn’t being lied to or manipulated by false information. Then marketing communications is honest and truthful 2 Recognition of marketing communications To display and show to the audience that this is an advert with clear indications of logos, slogans and the use of imagery. These conventions are easily identified by the general public. 3 Misleading Adverts Adverts with false information to get more sales and lies of the product and its capabilities. The function, price and guarantees. 4 Harm and Offence Ofending a particular group of people, and discrimination of a peoples status. Such as race, religion and appearance. 5 Children Adverts cannot abuse or influence a child’s opinion on a product. Such as pressuring children to buy your product, or that the product isn’t age appropriate. 6 Privacy Contracts between the advertiser and the actor will contain private information that should only be released or used in the advert if the actor has given permission clearly in the contract if the advertiser has used their information in the advert without their consent then that’s breaking the contract. 13 Food, food supplements and associated health or nutritional claims You shouldn’t promote food or nutritional products as healthy without proof or evidence. And promoting bad dietary habits so consumers purchase more and more of their products.
  • 3. Mind Map I would design a poster for a coke a cola advert to promote the company. Then I would write up key points, so I can remind myself of who I need to direct the advert at. I would keep referring to these key points as I am evolving the project . When I have finished my poster project I will continue using the points and objectives for future projects. for this unit so its not to confuse anyone. Once I design my game art I will consider who the audience is and if they like the poster and why they would. If the audience likes my work for a particular reason then I will focus on that for my future projects. Until the audience is satisfied and happy with my products then I will continue to work and produce the best possible posters, videos and video games.
  • 4. Mind Map • Strengths of using this method – this can very useful when planning. • Weaknesses of using this method – can sometimes get confusing and complicated. • Did you like using this method? Why? – yes because it can be a reminder of what you need to do and how to do it.
  • 5. Mood Board • Strengths of using this method – mood boards can help. As you can gather a lot of photos together and use that as a variation of something. • Weaknesses of using this method – none really. • Did you like using this method? Why? – yes as it is probably most useful technique
  • 6. Mood Board Using a mood board can help with evaluating all of your work at once, and gathering information about one certain subject such as gaming. You might include consoles or characters from games like Mario, sonic, Pac-man and some of the other iconic things you recognise with gaming. This can help with making posters and other media projects that can be defined with pictures. Instead of writing paragraphs of subjects you can just refer to the pictures used in a mood board. The disadvantage of a mood board is that it doesn't specify the actual products or go in detail with the projects of media, so it doesn't capture any real detail that people will be interested in its only a vague image for people to put together in their heads. Personally I think it gets the message across and is very useful for students in my position and needs a reminder of what they are doing.
  • 7. Style Sheet • Strengths of using this method – its so you can change your style of text or font, mostly to suit the genre your using. • Weaknesses of using this method – its hard to find the specific style you want. • Did you like using this method? Why? – yes because there's multiple options.
  • 8. Style Sheet Using a style to a sheet will help with your presentation when you present you project and make it seem more appealing and intriguing, this helps with your impression as you will be judged on your work and how well it is presented, so the better your work looks the better. But most people forget that presentation isn’t everything and that the work you actually put in is worth peoples time. But presentation can attract more people to your work. Most people will read your presentation based on how creative and original it is compared to the other boring white sheeted presentation.
  • 9. Layout Plan sale 100% free sugar Price £££ Competition Your chance to win a life time supply of coke- a-cola. Enter now! Slogan The slogan should be short and simple but not original like “Have a coke” something else like “take a sip, of this sugar free delight” this doesn’t necessarily have to rhyme. But definitely should be aimed to please or make the target audience feel happy and willing to buy one. Other slogans ideas, they could refer to their countries patriotism like a promotion of U.K summarizing the good deeds and celebrating by getting the entire nation to drink coke like on remembrance day. I might try to do that, where I refer to the people of Britain and their love for what makes them British. This layout plan will help me as this is a brief understanding of what I want my finale poster to look like. Basically I want the coke cola truck at the bottom as to represent the ground and a Christmas tree made out out of recycled cans. And an example of a coke bottle for Christmas then I want the background the classic cola red and a shadowed sleigh at the top with magical snowflakes shimmering off the sleigh. And having the ball represent some type of moon. And a small slogan next to the coke bottle saying “ Celebrate Christmas with the ones you love”
  • 10. Layout Plan • Strengths of using this method – Using this method can help you plan out your work and save you time improvising your work. This is really useful when you are lost and need help you can use the layout plan to remember how your work is going to be presented. • Weaknesses of using this method – Weaknesses for this method can be making the layout plan instead of actually doing the plan. This plan will affect your work in the short term. • Did you like using this method? Why? – This method helps me and I like using it. Because it helps me when I’m confused and need help or reminders for what I’m writing.
  • 11. Brainstorm Brainstorming helps by creating contributions and counter acts from a problem. Like if you broke a vase that your mother loved and that has sentimental value. Then you’d go through the options and reasoning. 1st option is to tell her and admit that you where playing around and should be more cautious in the future. The 2nd would be to hide the broken crockery and forget about it, doesn’t always end well. 3rd is trying to find a replacement and hope she don’t realize the change. These would be the thoughts going through your head but it does’t have to only be your ideas your family and friends can also help brainstorm by writing down all their ideas on the board and going with which ever has the most pros then cons.
  • 12. Brainstorm • Strengths of using this method – Using this method can help with deciding on one decision over the others. By doing this you can see how each possible choice could end up. better or worse or the same. • Weaknesses of using this method – you can gather a multiple of other people’s opinions and ideas so it will be a lot to remember and gather. • Did you like using this method? Why? – I have not yet used this method because I haven’t needed to yet, and I’m not sure if I want to use this method. To much information to be considered when using this method and it takes time.
  • 13. Informal Pitch • Strengths of using this method – using this method will get peoples attention and support if using it for good points and presentation. It will get the point across to a wider variety of audience. • Weaknesses of using this method – you have to have an interest in what the person is talking about in order to understand and follow what they are talking about. • Did you like using this method? Why? – no, because it narrows down the people watching and looking at your work. Plus the audience is also narrowed down.
  • 14. Formal Pitch • Strengths of using this method – this helped me with my presentation. • Weaknesses of using this method – none. • Did you like using this method? Why? Yes it’s a decent way to pitch ideas.
  • 15. Initial Reaction • Your first reaction to the piece of work. So if its bright and colourful then shock and surprise will be your first reaction, it gives off what it will most likely be throughout the movie, book or anything really. This communication method can help for people who don’t go in detail.
  • 16. Initial Reaction • Strengths of using this method – this method can help us guess the audiences expectancy and their fulfilment of that. • Weaknesses of using this method – sometimes the first few scenes of the movie can be judged for the rest of the movie. • Did you like using this method? Why? Yes because it lets you know if your beginning is good or not and if not then you can ask for tips and points to help you improve it.
  • 17. Sketches Sketches are normally used for rough work so not the finished project or product, but a prototype or brief descriptive drawing can help people picture the full thing in their heads. Most artists and designers start with sketches to inspire them before they dedicate themselves to starting the project, it is much safer in case you over do your work. They can even start with just doodling in a notebook then it can go on to be a revolutionary invention. Most sketches are used by inexperienced or cautious users as most prefer to perfect their design before using it or submitting it.
  • 18. Sketches • Strengths of using this method – you can get a general idea of what your creating. • Weaknesses of using this method – its not the finished product. • Did you like using this method? Why? – nope because I cant draw I prefer a mood board.
  • 19. Formal Proposal • Strengths of using this method – to initiate large and huge projects. • Weaknesses of using this method - they are larger compared to non formal proposal. • Did you like using this method? Why? – nope, because it takes to long and it needs to be shorter and more descriptive.
