5. Mind Map
ā¢ Strengths of using this method
It helps organize your planning into different sections and shows different ideas for
each section for example, Images ā People drinking Coca Cola, Colour Scheme ā Red
and White. This means that it can help you organize your ideas into one section.
ā¢ Weaknesses of using this method
You may not have that many ideas or sections to plan, you also may not have a brief to
plan from for example, no target audience to aim this advert at. This means that the
advert cannot be published because it is aimed at nobody in particular and can
contain sensitive content for that reason.
ā¢ Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes because I like planning out my ideas in sections where my ideas will fit in with
creating my poster to see all my ideas in a poster advert e.g my third poster has a coca
cola bottle in the sunshine while the girl is making a circle with her hands which shows
my creative side of making a poster.
7. Mood Board
ā¢ Strengths of using this method
They help give inspiration as to what you want the advert to look like and help you brainstorm for
theme ideas that you want to make for your advert for example, there will be summer images,
Christmas images etc which means that they are inspiration for my advert and will help you with
planning it out.
ā¢ Weaknesses of using this method
The internet may be down for example, you canāt access Google Images which can mean that it can
cause you not to find any images for your work. Also, you may not have the software you need at home
to be able to finish off your moodboard for example, no Photoshop at home because it costs a lot of
money and may not be able to afford it which means that you are restricted from doing that at home.
ā¢ Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes because it gathers up inspiration from what other people have made and how their adverts look like
such as retro adverts, summer adverts, Christmas adverts etc. Also, I like that I can gather up inspiration
for my ideas to see what I can do for example, seeing different videos and images of how they
advertised the product.
9. Style Sheet
ā¢ Strengths of using this method
The strengths of this method are that you can look for different fonts for your advert.
For example, you can find different fonts and download them from dafont.com where
there are different types of fonts such as horror and fancy fonts. This means that there
will be suitable fonts for whatever you are advertising.
ā¢ Weaknesses of using this method
Some colour schemes may not work or the fonts may be too bold or may not be able
to read. For example, the font can be bold but too small so this means that the person
reading the advert may find it hard to read the title and not catch their eye. This also
may mean that the audience may not notice it and walk right past it.
ā¢ Did you like using this method? Why?
I like this method because it shows which colour goes with which and which fonts are
suitable. For example, I have chosen a variety of fonts which means that I can pick
from the ones that I have chosen. This also means that I can choose a colour scheme
that will benefit the target audience and advert.
13. Layout Plan
ā¢ Strengths of using this method
You get to plan out what your poster is going to look like and what is going to be on it. For example, you
can find different images on Google and what goes best with that image. This means that I can be
creative with my advert and create an idea that involves the images.
ā¢ Weaknesses of using this method
It may take a lot of time and would waste the rest of the time you have to work on it. For example, you
could get too carried away while designing and planning your advert and not have time to finish the rest
of your work.
ā¢ Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes because I like seeing what my ideas look like while on a poster layout, this is helpful because it
shows me and other people what it will look like. If I was working with a client, it would be helpful
because I will have something to show and explain to them.
It also shows my creative side because there are many ideas of mine that are original and will hopefully
draw the target audienceās attention to my advert.
14. Evaluation
Overall, I think that my posters turned out really well because
I have used Photoshop before and know what the tools are
and how they work. I feel like the best poster out of the three
I made was Number 3 because I love the concept of it and the
quote I used is my favourite. I like the colour of the text
because it fits the theme of summer as itās very vibrant and
colourful.
If I could go back and change any of my poster designs, I
would change number 1 because I donāt really like the way I
designed it. I donāt really like the concept behind it and it
looks so sloppy and messy. One part I like about Poster 1 is the
Coca Cola bottle being the sandcastle flagpole because it was
very creative and fits with the theme of summer.

17. Independent Brainstorm
ā¢ Strengths of using this method
You get to research sound effects and background sounds for your advert. This is a strength because it
helps you gain ideas and expand on them to create an original advert. For example, you can go onto the
Youtube Audio Library to find sound effects and background music.
ā¢ Weaknesses of using this method
Itās your own idea so you canāt research together as a group. This is a weakness because if you research
together as a group, you can share ideas with each other and members of the group will have different
knowledge on different subjects which will be helpful. For example, members of the group will have
knowledge on music and which music would be suitable for the target audience and the advert that is
being made.
ā¢ Did you like using this method? Why?
I liked it because it gives me a chance to brainstorm my own idea to be able to pitch to others and be
able to help me focus on my own idea and think about what will be able to work and what will not. If I
was working with a client, I will be able to pitch my radio advert to whoever I am working for because I
will have an idea ready for them.
19. Script
*Vampire walks out of dark alleyway*
*Spooky atmosphere*
*Thunder sound*
*Dark music plays*
*Faint laugh*

āOh noā
*Beach music and atmosphere*
*Hissing sound*
āDracula, youāre smokingā
*Coke opens*
āHave a cokeā
*Refreshed sound*
āCoca-Cola, for everyone, even vampiresā
20. Group Idea Generation
ā¢ Strengths of using this method
You get to hear everyone elseās ideas and can merge them into one idea. This is a
strength because you can work together with your group to brainstorm and research
for an original and creative idea to share with who we are pitching the idea to. For
example, someone can come up with music and sound effects.
ā¢ Weaknesses of using this method
Someone may take over the group and make the whole project their idea. This is a
weakness because this is a group project that is supposed to involve everyone and is
supposed to work together.
ā¢ Did you like using this method? Why?
I did like using this method because it gave me the chance to share my idea and also
listen to other peopleās ideas to see what they came up with. It also helps me learn on
how to communicate with others and learn more knowledge on a topic of advertising.
21. Informal Pitch
ā¢ Strengths of using this method
You get to pitch your idea to the tutor and say what you are going to have in your
advert. This is a strength because the person that you are pitching to can give you
feedback and say what you could improve on and focus on that.
ā¢ Weaknesses of using this method
It may break the rules of the ASA and may not work. This is a weakness because if you
break the rules of the ASA, you will not be able to show it anywhere as it may offend
someone listening to it. For example, it also may not be suitable for the target
audience and be completely different to how you planned it before.
ā¢ Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes because then the tutor will give notes as to how it could be improved. It also
shows how much we listen to feedback and use it to help us improve our advert and
make it better. If I was working with a client, it helps me to understand the feedback
that I have been given and to take it onboard.
22. Formal Proposal
ā¢ Strengths of using this method
You can say what your advert is about and describe it in full detail. This is a strength
because you get to promote your advert and come up with a tagline, one line sales
pitch and target audience. For example, you can say for your tagline āCoca Cola, for
everyone, even vampires!ā
ā¢ Weaknesses of using this method
The storyline may not be related to the product that you are selling. This is a weakness
because you have to match the brief and may cause to start the whole project all over
again. For example, you come up with a storyline where a whole family go to the
beach and then they drink Sprite not Coca Cola.
ā¢ Did you like using this method? Why?
I liked using this method because it gave me the chance to write about my radio
product and evaluate on it. It also means I get to promote the product vocally instead
of written and I feel like promoting Coca Cola vocally will make it feel more happy and
lighthearted.
23. Evaluation
Overall, I think that my radio project went good because I
worked hard on it and it came out really well. I also like
some of the sound effects used on the advert because
they fit with the theme. I really like the music that we
used because it fit the storyline of our advert well.
If I was to go back and change anything, I would change
the theme of the advert because vampires donāt really go
well with summer. I was really set on the summer theme
but then I thought about it which meant that it was too
late to change it. I chose vampires because right now, its
nearly Halloween and it would fit really well with that.
24.
25. Initial Reaction
I think that pixel art will be difficult to draw on
Photoshop because I canāt draw well but it
doesnāt have to be a detailed drawing. I have
used Photoshop before and I have also done
animating before. I donāt have an idea as of yet
but I have some insight on what I want to do.
26. Initial Reaction
ā¢ Strengths of using this method
It helps others to know what I have learned before and what skills I have. This is a
strength because tutors know what I can do with these skills and it helps them to
understand them and to teach the same skills again so I havenāt forgotten. For
example, I know how to use the Paint Bucket tool and pen tool to draw.
ā¢ Weaknesses of using this method
You may not know what to do or how your doing the advergame. This is a weakness
because you havenāt learned the basics of Photoshop yet or know any skills. For
example, you havenāt learned about how to use any of the tools or havenāt developed
any skills.
ā¢ Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes because it gives people an understanding of where I am skillwise and can
hopefully I can develop my skills further. It also helps me relearn my Photoshop skills
again so it helps me not forget them and stay in my brain.
27. Sketches
These are the sketches that I have drawn for my advergame.
Character
LogoObject
28. Sketches
ā¢ Strengths of using this method
You have the ability to design your own characters on Photoshop. This is a strength
because I get to pick out the different colours, different facial features, different facial
expressions. For example, a small happy monster going around and collecting Coca
Cola bottles.
ā¢ Weaknesses of using this method
It is very time consuming. This is a weakness because I get too carried away with
drawing and colouring them in which causes me to get quite behind and probably not
finish my work on time. For example, sketching a character, sketching the logo and
bottle.
ā¢ Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes because I like to draw and colour in my sketches. I also like to find inspiration for
my characters on Google Images etc. But it is too time consuming and can get too
carried away with it, you not be able to finish the rest of your work in time.
29. Formal Proposal
ā¢ Strengths of using this method
It helps me bring all my ideas to create a advergame for my target audience to enjoy.
This is a strength because it is an original idea and I came up with my own tagline to
promote my advergame. For example, a small happy monster is suitable for the target
audience that I am aiming to please.
ā¢ Weaknesses of using this method
There is a lot to write and too hard to think of ideas to write because Iām more of a
visual learner. This is a weakness because I prefer looking at pictures and videos to
learn better. For example, you have to write a paragraph about your advergame.
ā¢ Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes because all my ideas that I had for my game came together as one to create a
game that my target audience will love and play all the time. If I was working with a
client, I would create a game for them to approve and have a look at.
30. Evaluation
Overall, I think that my advergame went really well
because as I worked on it more and more, I managed to
find it more easy and found drawing pixel art much easier
while on Photoshop. The music that I used on my
advergame makes the game bright and cheerful for my
target audience which is for kids aged 10-15.
If I could go back and change anything of my game, I
would change how much time I spent on my sketches
because I got too carried away with my drawings and had
to finish them off at home so I wasnāt behind on work.
