This lesson plan aims to teach first grade students body parts vocabulary through activities that identify body parts on characters, watch a song video, assemble cut out body part images, and color a skeleton while naming body parts and colors. During this lesson, learners will be able to…
 Identify and name different body parts.
 Incorporate their previous knowledge of colors.
 Develop their listening skills by listening to a video song.

2. Teaching points: - language focus:
 Teaching approach: This lesson plan is based on the PPP approach.
 Materials and resources: One video to watch on the teacher´s personal
computer. The Robot made in the previous class for the Warm up stage. One set
of images to Activity 1. Two sets of images for the Activity 1 (cut images). Two
set of skeletons to the Activity 2.
 Pedagogical use of ICT in class: In this lesson, one video will be used to
support the presentation and exposure of the students to the teaching point.
Activities that are organized through the combination of audio and video
(audiovisual material) enhance language learning and acquisition.
 Seating arrangement: Students will be sitting in a desk since they are
only two, in this way they will have visual contact and interaction.
 Cooperative work: learners of this age are in the parallel play stage,
which means they can play and work together.
 Possible problems / difficulties and their possible solutions during
the class: Children may get too excited during the whole class, since they are in
a rural school and unfortunately they are not used to watching videos (many of
the people in the town do not have TV, and people who have it only see one
channel, it is a great event for them to watch videos).Also, they can feel too

3. excited with the images since they are about different Disney characters. In that
case, I’ll remind them we should be careful with the resources used and be able
to perform all the activities. In order to get themquiet: I´ll say Silence, please!
 Potential problems students may have with the language: They may
not understand the body parts language: head, body, etc. I’ll guide them by
pointing the different parts of my body and modeling the answer first.
WARM UP (5 minutes)
Purpose: to practise the previous topic and evaluate students´ previous learning.
Hello boys, how are you? Last class we made a Robot, remember?
Let´s see it!
OK, this is the head, the shoulders, the arms. And this is the body, the legs, the knees and feet.
(While I name different parts of body, I also will point at my own body)
Can you name some parts? (I will point out two parts of the body, head and legs, if they do not
remember I will help them)
PRESENTATION (10 minutes)
Purpose: to further expose the learners to the target language, to foster
comprehension.
- Now we will watch a video OK? Look! Point at your body.
(The video named head, shoulders, knees and toes while characters dance, like following a
choreography, I will mime the song while I encourage students to dance too).

Students will watch the video twice, dancing and pointing out their body.

4. DEVELOPMENT (25 minutes)
Activity 1 (15 minutes)
Purpose: to identify the topic vocabulary.
- Boys look at the following images, who are them? It is Mickey Mouse and Minnie, Donald
and Daisy, Aladdin and Jasmine, Buzz Lightyear, Woody and Jessie, Tarzan and Pinocchio, did
you know them?
(I will show them a picture of each character,then I will give them the same pictures cut into
pieces and they will have to put them together and form the character)
- Could you put the pieces together? Which is Mickey? The head, shoulders, body and legs,
very good boys!

6. Activity 2 (10 minutes)
Purpose: to identify and practise the topic vocabulary and also the colours (They
learned the colors mentioned below in previous classes)
Students should put together the following skeleton in order to practise the target
language, I will encourage them to repeat the vocabulary.
- Look here, boys, we will make a skeleton OK?
- Put tr the body parts together, first the head Uciel. Yes, it´s the head, now the body.
The skeleton is shown below:
After they make the skeleton I will tell them what colors they have to color it, for example:
- Head green
- Body yellow
- Arms orange
- Hands blue
- Legs red

7. - Feet blue
The idea is that the skeleton must be funny, and students can practise the colors they know.
CLOSURE (10 minutes)
Purpose: video watching
Students will watch the video again in order to practise the vocabulary and close the class with a
song, a little more fun than an activity on their notebooks.
