Course: 6th “B” and “D”
Teacher: Jorgelina Rodriguez
Timetable fit: Mondays and Thursdays from 16.05 to 17.30
Lesson aims:
As teachers, we’ll try to:
 Focus on macro skills (speaking, reading, listening and writing) considering
learners’ ages to acquire language.
 Revise vocabulary related to sports and hobbies.
 Revise the grammatical structure of abilities (I can, I can’t)
Objectives of the lesson:
During the lesson, students are expected to:
 Revise the vocabulary related to sports: football, baseball, hockey,
basketball, ice skiing, skateboard, boxing, karate, etc.
 Revise vocabulary related to hobbies: play the piano, sing, dance, read a
book, listen to music, etc.
 Talk about abilities related to sports and hobbies.
 Reflect upon the message the video ‘we’re super humans’ is intended to
transmit.
 Learn about the Paralympic Games.
Language:
Lexis: vocabulary about sports and hobbies.
Functions: identifying and classifying different sports and hobbies. Pronouns (I,
he, she, they)
Talk about abilities (I can, I can’t).

Routine (5’):
We are going to post on each of the classrooms a sheet of paper colorfully
designed by us with some threads hanging where we are going to put each of
our students ‘ names ( with a clip). Every time we enter the classroom, we are
going to choose three helpers. They will have to pick up all the names and give
them to their classmates to put them on. Before we leave the classroom, they
have to give them back so they can pick them up next class.
“1, 2, 3, silence please” (make use of it whenever the teacher/pedagogical
partner sees it necessary)
Breathing activity. Since one of the classes starts after the break, we will invite
our students to stand next to their desks and imagine they have a balloon inside
their hands. They are going to inhale and when they exhale, the balloon is going
to be a little bit bigger than before. We are going to repeat this procedure three
times and at the end, we will imaginary pop the balloon.
Warm up (10’):
 Students will be asked to tell us what sports they remember from previous
lessons and we will write them on the board.

 After having watched the video, students will be asked to recognize and
identify which sports and free time activities appear in it. We will add to the
list on the board the ones that are missing.

We will ask students to complete the following photocopy.
ACTIVITY 2: (10’)
We will ask the students to match the pictures of the sports to the right ordinary
spelling and then classify them into athletics , winter sports or team sports.
Then, using the board, we will check them orally.

ACTIVITY 3:
As a final activity, we will divide students in two or three groups to play ‘The
Hangman’ using the board.

Lesson plan 9 - Sports and Hobbies

  • 1. Practice II: Didactics of ELT and Practicum at Primary School Level Aimé Huarte Florencia Pérez Lesson Plan N°9 4/09/2017 School N°25 “Granaderos de San Martin” Course: 6th “B” and “D” Teacher: Jorgelina Rodriguez Timetable fit: Mondays and Thursdays from 16.05 to 17.30 Lesson aims: As teachers, we’ll try to:  Focus on macro skills (speaking, reading, listening and writing) considering learners’ ages to acquire language.  Revise vocabulary related to sports and hobbies.  Revise the grammatical structure of abilities (I can, I can’t) Objectives of the lesson: During the lesson, students are expected to:  Revise the vocabulary related to sports: football, baseball, hockey, basketball, ice skiing, skateboard, boxing, karate, etc.  Revise vocabulary related to hobbies: play the piano, sing, dance, read a book, listen to music, etc.  Talk about abilities related to sports and hobbies.  Reflect upon the message the video ‘we’re super humans’ is intended to transmit.  Learn about the Paralympic Games. Language: Lexis: vocabulary about sports and hobbies. Functions: identifying and classifying different sports and hobbies. Pronouns (I, he, she, they) Talk about abilities (I can, I can’t).
  • 2. Practice II: Didactics of ELT and Practicum at Primary School Level Aimé Huarte Florencia Pérez Routine (5’): We are going to post on each of the classrooms a sheet of paper colorfully designed by us with some threads hanging where we are going to put each of our students ‘ names ( with a clip). Every time we enter the classroom, we are going to choose three helpers. They will have to pick up all the names and give them to their classmates to put them on. Before we leave the classroom, they have to give them back so they can pick them up next class. “1, 2, 3, silence please” (make use of it whenever the teacher/pedagogical partner sees it necessary) Breathing activity. Since one of the classes starts after the break, we will invite our students to stand next to their desks and imagine they have a balloon inside their hands. They are going to inhale and when they exhale, the balloon is going to be a little bit bigger than before. We are going to repeat this procedure three times and at the end, we will imaginary pop the balloon. Warm up (10’):  Students will be asked to tell us what sports they remember from previous lessons and we will write them on the board.  Watch the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IocLkk3aYlk  After having watched the video, students will be asked to recognize and identify which sports and free time activities appear in it. We will add to the list on the board the ones that are missing. Body of the class: ACTIVITY 1: (10’)
  • 3. Practice II: Didactics of ELT and Practicum at Primary School Level Aimé Huarte Florencia Pérez We will ask students to complete the following photocopy. ACTIVITY 2: (10’) We will ask the students to match the pictures of the sports to the right ordinary spelling and then classify them into athletics , winter sports or team sports. Then, using the board, we will check them orally.
  • 4. Practice II: Didactics of ELT and Practicum at Primary School Level Aimé Huarte Florencia Pérez ACTIVITY 3: As a final activity, we will divide students in two or three groups to play ‘The Hangman’ using the board.
