Alfie Pimblett
Audience Profile
• Primary Audience
– Adults (18– 25)
• Secondary Audience
– Adults (25+)
– This film is targeted
for young male adults
because they are the
main set of people
that enjoy going to
see horror movies.
Audience Profile
• Primary Audience
– Teenagers (12-17)
• Secondary Audience
– Adults (18-25)
– This film is targeted
more for males because
the main character is a
strong male character,
the colours and styles in
the poster are more
attractive to males.
Audience Profile
• Primary Audience
– Kids (5-10) because of all
of the bright colours and
the action included within
the film
• Secondary Audience
– The secondary audience
could be Parents because
sometimes there is adult
themed jokes to get
adults to watch the film
so more people will watch
it.
Hypodermic Needle
• Definition
– Where an audience believes and accepts what it is
said by the media.
• Example
– “War of worlds” 1938
In a broadcast of this story a section was used
where it simulated a news report describing an
invasion. This caused people to panic.
Uses and Gratifications Information
• This is how people use media to gather
information.
• information
• I use YouTube to find information about new
music and when music will be released
• I use it to keep up with my favourite artists
• I also use it to learn about what is trending right
now.
Uses and Gratifications Personal Identity
• This is how people use media to reinforce,
develop and identify their “Personal Identity”
• Personal Identity
• I enjoy using YouTube to listen to music in
particular Belly Squad, I identify with the
settings and lifestyle of the videos and lyrics.
• Their behaviour is also similar to me and my
social group at home.
Uses and Gratifications Integration and Social
Interaction
• This theory talks about how audiences interact
with the media to help understand why we use it.
• Integration and Social Interaction
• I use snapchat for social interaction with friends
because it is easy to talk to them that way if they
are too busy to meet up.
• I also use snapchat because most people my age
group use it, this means I can talk to most people
whenever I want.
Uses and Gratifications Entertainment
• This theory talks about how audiences interact with
the media to help understand why we use it.
• Entertainment
• I use YouTube to listen to music because it helps me to
relax if I am angry or stressed.
• I also use YouTube to watch videos that make me laugh
so I can enjoy myself.
• YouTube helps me to forget about worries when I am
watching videos or listening to music, I use it for
escapism.
Consumer Generated Content
• Example
– YouTube
• What are the advantages to media producers?
An advantage to consumer generated content is that
they can submit their own projects to generate money
• Why would the audience generate content?
– The would generate content to get views, followers,
likes and money or to sell a product of their own.
