From the second question, the only film out of the options that had terrorism as the option was ‘traitor’ and as most people voted for that film, it gave us more of an idea what kind of films attract our target audience. We also gathered that our target audience likes films which hide the characters identity in the opening sequence We looked at other openings of thriller films which involves terrorism as the main topic to give us ideas on preferences of our target audience. We also took our research further by looking at thriller film openings from films from other industries that contain the same plot, such as Bollywood films. We found that Bollywood films have the same conventions, this also helped us with broader thinking about the audience and the ideas we could come up with from looking at the same genre films but from different cultures. From our research we found that settings that are normally found in the conventions of such films are garages, small rooms which are dark and mysterious. The lighting is also an important factor when using such small rooms to film as the lighting effects such as backlighting can be effective as it helps hide the characters identity, and that is what most films tend to do. From our research we also found that our target audience appreciates the mysteriousness.
