Results from audience survey
Gender “1. Are you…” Possible answers: Male Female We found that the from the audience (30 responses) 60% of our target audience were male 40% are male This will be taken as if there is an equal amount of both responses, considering that our group consists of three males and one female asking their friends. Typically, the males will approach more males and female will approach females of a mix of both.
Interests 2. Which of these do you do the most? Options: Social networking Watching videos online Watching TV Reading magazines Listening to Radio We found that most people  spend most time social networking, followed by watching television. This means the idea to use viral marketing through blogging and Twitter can be used.
Internet use 3. What do you use the internet for most? Options: Social Networking (including IM) Watching videos Playing games Homework People asked used the internet for social networking more than anything else – again blogging and Twitter will be used in the way suggested in research
Advertising 4. What is the most effective way of advertising a film? Viral Marketing (Social Networking, Youtube etc.) TV and Cinema Posters and billboards Word of mouth Documentaries/tv specials Social networking was chosen as the most popular form of advertising again. By now, it is well and truly consolidated that we should use viral marketing.
Genre 5. What is your favourite genre, why? This was an open question with no options. Below are some examples of responses.  Horror was the most popular from the answers, and action coming close second. This means our film will be action.
Audience 6. Who watches short films? This was an open question with no options. Below are some examples of responses.  When asked who makes short films, people often answered ‘I don’t know’ or skipped the question- this shows the need in the advertising as people are unaware of the nature of short films.
Length 7. How long should a short film be? This was an open question with no options. Below are some examples of responses.  When asked about the length of the film, we decided ourselves that our film would be around five minutes. This is in our brief and this question was only asked to see if people were aware of short films and their nature. However, anywhere between 1 and 60 minutes was popular
Viewing 8. Have you ever seen a short film, if so, why? This was an open question with no options. Below are some examples of responses.  Not many people had actually seen short films, except those studying them. This again highlights the need for relatable advertising.
Reasons for seeing a film 9.What makes you want to see a film? Options: Cast Narrative (story) Prequels Genre Unfortunately, genre wasn’t the most popular reason for seeing a new film – however, cast was most popular but of course this is irrelevant because we don’t have a Hollywood style budget, so we will star in it ourselves.
